I could not get this interaction out of my head where the baboon would immediately assume Wukong and Macaque are a couple and them just being very confused when Wukong says that’s not the case
You know those two people that obviously love each other and everyone knows it but them, yeah that’s FFM with these guys, and they are over it
This scene is hypothetical and I have yet to decide whether it’s canon to the CelestialPrimatesAU comic
Also the grey monkey is the solder that rides with wukong on the cloud in the AU comic, I named him Wei,he has anxiety and I love him

"Bai he only saw one side of Wukong. Macaque remembers when he was the Wukong he adored." Bloody hell break my heart why don't you.
Also, you metioned that Wukong make Macaque a celestial monkey - can you explain that please?
Of course I can!
Their is only three naturally born celestial primates, that is :
Sun Wukong
"Knows transformations, recognizes the seasons, Discerns the advantages of earth."
Red-bottomed horse monkey
"Has knowledge of yin and yang, Understands human affairs, Is adept in its daily life And able to avoid death and lengthen its life."
Long Armed Gibbon
"Seize the sun and the moon, distinguish the auspicious from the inauspicious, and manipulate planets and stars."
The Six Eared Macaque and his sister, The Two-Faced Macaque, are cosmetically made celestial primates. To be turned into a celestial primate is to be given a piece of their power by their blood.
Macaque drank Wukong's blood with wine (because of his previous experience with almost being cannibalised by his sister..).
The Two-Faced Macaque drank the blood of the long armed Gibbon after being revived by the Red-Bottomed Horse Monkey.

Hi! I wanted to ask something.
Like, most of us knows there are 4 Spiritual Monkeys in the legend(book)... Do the Wukongs and theyr LEM's ever tought about looking for them? Cause mines did and It was chaos
Tongbi: Wait... why there are not other us, Chikao? *Sad precious sunshine noises*
Chikao: We are probably lucky in theyr universes to not having to ature theyr "bullduey"
*Wukong and Liu'er fighting in the most platonic way possible*
(If you are wandering who Tongbi and Chikao are, Chikao = Baboon and Tongi = Gibbon. And both are girls)
Love them and all the different versions people are coming up with! Bonus: the @journeytothewestresearch post about them!
I've been personally calling them "Babs" = Baboon (Chikao mahou, 赤尻馬猴) and "Gibs" = Gibbon (Tongbi yuanhou, 通臂猿猴) as a nickname! XD
My idea is that they are the older of the four *known* celestial primates, with the oldest celestial primate being the since-ascended Shen Monkey who raced for the Jade Emperor.
Tongbi/Gibs has a naturally stretchy body (think like Monkey D Luffy) and is very optimistic. Whilst, Chikao/Babs is more of a realist with the power of reading a person's thoughts/intentions (an interpretation I have for "Understands human affairs,").
My personal hc backstory for them is that;
Tongbi/Gibs was born/hatched along the Heavenly River, her species limbs stretching to allow them to climb, swim and dance between the clouds and astral waterways. She could be considered the "Fresh-Water Monkey" for this reason. Her egg had actually fallen to earth during the Great Flood when the fifth Heavenly Pillar broke, and was found by a tribe of proto-humans (of which Fuxi originated) that raised her as their own. She lived with them for many years before deciding to seek out others of her kind - where upon she met Chikao/Babs
Menawhile, Chikao/Babs was actually born into the Underworld amongst demonkind. Her fellow demons did not understand why she had hatched from a egg-shaped stone that sat undisturbed in the demon-capital city of Youdu for many millennia, but they accepted her as their colleague nonetheless. When Chikao/Babs came of age, she was trained to carry out the duties of a Psychopomp; to gather and bring deceased soul before Yama and the Ten Kings, the same duties as Ox-Head and Horse-Face. She could be considered the "Abyss Monkey" for her gloomy origin.
The two celestial monkeys meet by pure chance when Chikao/Babs herself nearly dies trying to collect the soul of a reluctant water demon. Tongbi/Gibs saved her, and it was love/fascination at first sight like Little Mermaid.
The two female monkeys are soulmates in a yin-yang like dynamic. One stern and aloof, the other silly and expressive. They began seeking out others of their kind almost immediately after meeting - failing until they found a certain little stone monkey being cared for by an old mentor.
I made a joke post a while back about these two finding little Sun Wukong early and raising him as their own, and now I can't stop thinking of it! The Netflix and Smash Legends SWKs are who I most imagine as having the two super-powered moms, but I could def see an AU of Lego SWK having moms. X3
Chikao and Tongbi def be cringing hard at how bad their son is fumbling expressing his feelings for Macaque, and for how bad Macaque is at confronting *his* feelings!

Shadowpeach Family AU Meme 5
writing gives me meme ideas
Tumblr media
*Yuanhou is the Long Armed Gibbon and Mahou is the Red Bottomed Horse Monkey, Macaque is okay with Yellow Tusk, it's not great, but not terrible.*
I thought it would be funny to have Macaque know the other celestial primates and Wukong be confused af when these two show up at his house.
So they are besties and currently placing bets on how long it takes Wukong to realize that they are besties. Once he does they plan to go on double dates and trade stories of all the shit they've been up to.
Yuanhou and Mahou have been watching the development of Shadowpeach for the longest time. They have seen so much of it.
I hc that Yuanhou uses his arms the same way Plastic Man does cause, it's funny. I don't have a better reason, I just think it'd be funny. He will just drop stuff off on FFM from his home by just stretching his arm all the way over there.

Note
so i did a deep dive today for this thank you for the new headcanon
i’m thinking yuán as in 猿 - 犭 = 袁
ape - animal radical = long cloth
like how 猻 - 犭 = 孫 = 孙 (simplified)
猻 is from 猴猻 hóusūn which means monkey
monkey - animal radical = grandson
孙悟空 • sūn wùkōng • grandson awakened to nothingness
袁巫支祁 • yuán wūzhīqí • long cloth great shaman/witch/sorcerer/wizard to support/bear/sustain
if you look at old chinese paintings of gibbons, they look like they have black bodies and white heads
btw i high recommend an evaluation of robert van gulik’s the gibbon in china and its place in modern sinological discourse on the academia app. it’s free and ripe with information about how gibbons were viewed and depicted in ancient china. robert’s book is damn expensive tho. i envy anyone who has their hands on it.
here’s an excerpt that surprised me:
The third theme is suggested in the following: “The gibbon is better than the monkey , the former is clean, gentle and recluse, the latter is dirty, noisy, greedy and vulgar” (“Mei yuan su hou”美猿俗猴) (TGIC 58). RvG thought this idea was pragmatic. Ancient Chinese literati like Wu Yun (“Poem of the Black Gibbon”) (TGIC 54-56), Li Deyu (“Poem of the White Gibbon) (TGIC 56-57), and Liu Zongyuan 柳完元 (773–819)21 (“Essay on the Hateful Monkey-breed” or “Zeng wangsun wen” 憎王孙文) (TGIC 54-56). Each compared the quarrelsome and volatile monkey with the aloof gibbon (TGIC 56). The lament is evidently directed against the people at court who caused their patron’s downfall (TGIC 57). Wu Yün, Li Deyu and Liu Zongyuan contrasted the violent and vulgar monkey with the high-minded and well-behaved gibbon. So the monkey is described as greedy, cruel and undependable, and ugly in appearance” (TGIC 57).
oh and the novel calls wūzhīqí great sage water ape… they were totally born from water. water egg? water womb?
and since it’s semi-popular in lmk fandom to make six-eared macaque a wind monkey due to the macaque king, that would leave red-buttocked horse monkey a fire monkey. red is the color of fire and the horse’s element is fire. in buddhism there are 4 great elements: earth, water, fire, and air so it all weirdly fits.
Oh damn you did such an AMAZING deep dive in both the language and history!! I adore it!!
I am aware the theory that Macaque King is the Six Ears is a common theory and with that the tie in with being the Great Sage of Ventilation, not just in LMK.
It would be cool if the Spiritual Primates had a connection to the elements, even if it is not the five. I actually forget that Buddism had its own elements that are technical since I always counted akasa/space.
Tumblr media
But perhaps if the idea that each primate is also birthed from inanimate objects perhaps something like
Stone - Wukong
Pearl - Wuzhiqi / Gibbon
Magma - Baboon
Tree Root - Macaque (since air is also connected to wood in Chinese lore)
If they were ever to use the Gibbon as either the same Wuzhiqi from the Yuan Xiyouji she would be an amazing addition, or perhaps they could have used the Sage leaning background as well. In either case, there's so much history when it comes to both primate lore that I really think there can be a lot done with these findings

What does MK think of Bai He?
Tw : Eye gouging
That's a very complicated question.
MK sees Bai he as The Ivory Woman, a being created to bring perfection to the world. He sees her as a tool, a piece in Master Yuzhiqin's goal. But, in his own twisted way, he admires her.
She killed the Monkey King, The Long Armed Gibbon, The Red-Bottomed Horse Monkey, The Two-Faced Macaque, and she led out the Six-eared Macaque to him. He admires her for that, which is why she allowed her to live with a mere warning.
That mere warning was gouging out her eye.

[However, I see your 5 elements and raise you one DUKE OF THUNDER!]
Okay, that has got to be the best bitchin title I have ever seen. Move over, Thor, we have a new royalty over thunder to gaze at!
Huh, so, if he could be another Celestial Monkey, likely even older than Babs or Gibbs...why didn't Buddha ever mention this guy?
*Several monkeys turn their heads to look at the big man himself*
Buddha: Ah, well, you see-Look, bear!
*Everyone quickly turns to look, realize the trick and snap back to see Buddha hastily making an escape through the window*
Hmm...*looks up which numbers are lucky in China*, okay, so 4 is actually unlucky, which is probs why the 4 Celestial Monkeys are also called the Monkeys of Destruction.
But the lucky numbers are 6 and 8, with 7 being a generally good number, but being also that the 7th Month is called the Ghost Month and it sounds close to 'to deceive'...hmmm...
Oh, and it sounds like a vulgar way of saying 'penis'.
Okay, so, Duke of Thunder, Long Armed Gibbon, Red Buttocked Horse Monkey, Intelligent Stone Monkey and Six Eared Macaque make 5.
Including our little Harbinger of Chaos, that makes 6, which is a lucky number.
But MK being the 7th Celestial Monkey would make it more fun - at least a part of me thinks so - so, who the hell could be the Sixth Monkey?
Wait...Wuxing has Earth and Wood be different elements...
Rin-Rin!
In Saiyuuki, she has similar eye markings to SWK - much like how Macaque has a similar one to SWK - which should mean, she is also a Celestial Monkey!
I once saw somebody headcanon that Rin-Rin is a flower monkey demon and her flower do give me Cosmo (a plant alien) from Sonic X vibes...that could work.
She's just chilling somewhere, never knew what she is and just exists, vibing along the way, not knowing all the bullshit that is going on, like:
Tumblr media
Rin-Rin being that friend in the group who never got into any drama, and is still living their best life at home.
Tumblr media
I even plan on her (at least a character based on her) still being alive/youthful in the TMKATI au, and the other monkeys are confused af. She's like the aunt/cousin in the monkey village who just... never aged?? They think maybe she ate a peach of immortality and didn't know about it.
Someone like Erlang (all seeing eye) peaks in and is like "Whoa. That monkey came *out* of a tree of immortality. Thats new. Wonder if anyone else knows about this... Best not say anything and cause a fuss."

omg and in the play before the novel wukong had an older sister called holy mother wuzhiqi!
She was! Another good reason to remember the prototype Wukong (Xingzhe) was that he had SIBLINGS.
I always thought how cool it would have been if the celestial primates were inspired by them but considering that Xingzhe had four siblings making them five altogether would be one too many. And that there only seem to be 3 Monkey Sages and Wukong being one of them, making them 1 monkey too few.
The number four really never gets touched... damn.
Tumblr media
But if there was a way to combine the lore together it could be that three of his four siblings are actually monkeys (Wuzhiqi Shengmu, Qitian Dasheng, and Shuashua Sanlang) while his first sister is more human in her description in other sources (Lishan Laomu).
If I would have to somehow combine Xingzhe's lore with the Spiritual Primates then I think I would do it something like this.
Great Sage Equaling Heaven (Qitian Dasheng) 齊天大聖 - Changed to Sun Wukong
Great Sage Reaching Heaven (Tongtian Dasheng) 通天大聖, - Six Eared Macaque getting Xinghe's original title, maybe even hinting that he was the turbulent Sun Xingzhe prototype.
Playful Third (?) (Shuashua Sanlang) 耍耍三郎 - Red Bottom Horse Monkey
Holy Mother Wuzhiqi 巫支祇聖母 Wuzhiqi Shengmu- Long Armed Gibbon
I would think that maybe switching Xingzhe's original title with the 齊天大聖 would just highlight how different the Yuan Sun Xingshe and the Ming Sun Wukong were written. Giving a little meta-outlook that perhaps the Yuan tale was inspired by the Six-Eared Macaque all along which for an adaption I would find SUCH a cool reference.
There is a lot that could go into this kind of adaption, especially since there are still other monkey gods that are known about today that could be tied into giving the Primordial Primates some more background and lore, connecting them that they were all once monkeys of legend but eventually lost their prestige through time as their eldest brother overtook the spotlight.
It would just be awesome to give the Primates just more attention in that they had just vague backgrounds I get directors would want to just have fun with them, but having real ties to past Xiyouji adaptions just... would be so meaningful really.
Though another interesting tie-in (and might be more of a stretch) could be giving the other three celestial primates with the Three Monkey Sages.
That kind of adaption could be suggesting that the other three Sages were sticking together and making their own name until one of them gave in and wanted to imitate Sun Wukong.
Tumblr media
Cinnabar Cloud Great Sage (DanXia DaSheng) 丹霞大圣 - The Red Face Monkey Sage - Six Earred Macaque
Great Sage Reaching Heaven (TongTian DaSheng) 通天大圣- The Black Face Monkey Sage - Long Armed Gibbon
Playful Third ShuaShua SanLang (耍耍三郎) - The White Face Monkey Sage - Red Bottom Horse Monkey
This is more based on the looks and the particular reason that I think that Six Ears being the Cinnabar Cloud Great Sage is better here since the Cinnabar Cloud Great Sage actually DID steal Wukong's identity in the Pacification of the Demons of Linshui 臨水平妖傳. Also, the Black Faced Monkey Sage looks more like a Gibbon and the White Face Monkey Sage looks more like a Baboon to me.
This has made me go on such a tangent but this is all to say that there could be SO MUCH MORE LORE in adaptions given to the primordial primate with how many AWESOME legends there are out there.
