8 years is a long time to think about vengeance. It's pretty clear, Dutch had used the Blackwater money to lure Micah and he had always planned to kill him somehow. Whether it was to avenge Arthur, but I lean more with him blaming Micah for the destruction of his family (though really it was more on Dutch's failure to overcome his ego, insanity, and denial). I really think Arthur was able to salvage some tiny bit of the old Dutch in his final moments. Once Dutch finally achieved in taking down Micah, he completely lost it because nothing was really holding him back any longer. This led to his demise in RDR 1.

Surprisingly he didn't even take the Blackwater money, cause I think he was disgusted by it (seeing that was the beginning of the end). Or he left it for John, because he at least owed him that and I think it was to honor Arthur's wish of making sure John and his family were taken care of.

Thinking about how it feels like the world of RDR2 ended when Arthur died, how things would never be the same again, how bittersweet it is meeting the people you once were in a gang with, how much it hurts to play as a shadow of someone you lost. That's when most people stop playing.

But the world didn't end, the world carried on. The people you knew moved on, new people you meet spoke fondly of your brother. The world kept turning and showing you that Arthur may be gone, but his memory is all around you.

His name is etched on a memorial hall donation plaque, the beasts he hunted were hung proud on a veteran's wall, the widow he taught to hunt is now thriving, the strangers he helped on the side of the road talk about the man that saved them, and so much more, but most of all - his hat sits proudly on your head and his journal lays heavy in your satchel.

This part of the game has taught me a lot, but it has taught me to move on most of all.

Controversial opinion, there is something so icky about the mission bare knuckle friendships. Charles is entirely in-humanized in the ring. Instead of a strong but gentle man who is proud of his culture, he is a caricature of his culture made to be an enemy to the Eurocentric culture of America. He’s stripped of his dignity, his respect, and his sense of self for what, a couple dollars? He gets beat day after day to make ends meet, not even getting the chance to wash the blood off before his next fight. He lives out of a suitcase, trying to find an escape for another place to live. His mentality that he’s made to suffer turned into a reality.
