ok so we have spent the past however many years putting miguel on blast for his complete lack of interior design skills but frankly i don't think anyone's gone far enough yet. do you think he sleeps in the fold-out chair too? he clearly doesn't have an air mattress, and buying one would just be a waste of money with the Talons. miguel what are you DOING to your poor spine

Ma handed me a silk shirt to repair and whilst I’m always up for a challenge I’m starting to think this one should have been an upcycle rather than repair job, because that last picture? That’s almost 3m of thread and I’m not even halfway through the tears in one direction
Edit:
Closer, but still a fair ways to go.

I lost the bobbin cover for my sewing machine so I can't use it until a new one comes in the mail. IN the meantime, I've been hand sewing everything for this "practice" jacket, which I'm making in preparation for the real jacket which will be made from wool I spent $180 on. This has four fucking layers, lol. There's the outer layer, the interlining (made from a lovely Hulk-themed flannel I bought just to use for mock-ups, so I didn't mind sacrificing it as interlining), the silk lining, and another fabric to strengthen the silk, since it is THIN (makes sense, considering it was from damaged sari silk fabric I found on ebay; no need for warm or strong fabric in 115F weather lol). Because the silk is so thin, I've been hand sewing it to the interfacing fabric along the edges as a way to keep it all from fraying.
my hand sewing is not pretty but it gets the job done. And like I've said, it's weirdly meditative.
The real jacket will be knee length with a capelet, so it uses a ton of fabric. I didn't want to use 6 yards of fabric to make a practice jacket, so this one is only hip-length.
This is the coat I will eventually be making. I had to do a lot of fucking around with the mockup to get it to fit right. Always do mock-ups before you cut anything, lol.

Done! Pressed and finished. Left some areas where the tear becomes part of the structure of the visible mend, for funsies. (And because after securing the tears from getting any bigger I lost the will to deal with them)

😍😍😍
GOD this came out good!! NO idea what to turn it into!!
i have been thinking about learning to weave tho, so i could get an art yarn stash going now... i mean, i already spin & crochet; why stop there? i could see a woven piece preserving the cool little details of this yarn better than in crochet, since it's a more 2D medium.
