“Building a sandcastle has no stakes: if it turns out poorly, you can smooth it into a clean slate. Perhaps I knew, even then, that sand is not simply material, but the embodiment of limitless possibility, the very substance of dreams.”
In today's new Longreads essay, "Remembered Coast," Zining Mok writes about sand, the sea, and reclamation. It's a gorgeous story in which she excavates layers of history—in Singapore and in her own family.

Some Trans/Enby/Gender-Nonconforming affirmations for all the edgy, & spooky types out there! This was originally transphobic retohric, but allot of us in the community found it metal as fuck.
So it's ours now. :3
I might make this a print that people can purchase for their home. Idk, we'll see.

Douglas Falls on the North Fork of the Blackwater River is one of the loveliest of the many falls to be discovered in and around the Blackwater River Canyon. The falls is located adjacent to Douglas, West Virginia, an historic mining town about two miles from Thomas. The river here has suffered mightily from the acidic effluent of several abandoned mines nearby, leaving the streambed and boulders stained by "yellow boy" (iron hydroxide) in the AMD. Fortunately, the Friends of Blackwater has a number of mitigation and reclamation projects in progress that have already improved water quality. Eventually, the river's flow will scour away this awful legacy. The improvement in the river's health combined with the recent news that the lower part of the canyon will soon be in public ownership signal brighter days ahead for the watershed.

" Anomaly "
A flag for anybody who reclaims the term 'Anomaly'. The term is usually used on people with "rare" disorders, intersex folk, etc.

Like most of the remaining houses in Sunnyville (formery known as Achmothogair), Sunnyville House, the headquarters of Novelties and Notions, is in a dilapidated state and in need of fairly extensive renovation. Not one of the few residents of this tiny hamlet have any money to spare – indeed most folk here have no money at all – and the state of the properties, if you could call them that, is more or less deplorable. It is not an exaggeration to say that in some cases dislodged roofing slates are held in place by glue, and the parts of buildings that threaten to fall are secured with rope.
Anyone who lives in such a remote and isolated community is necessarily resourceful, but despite their willingness to make do and mend, problems do arise when, for example, having finally managed to source some replacements from a scrap yard, the householders discover, in the last gleam of light at the end of a tedious day working on repairs, that they have been supplied with the wrong windows.

mfs be like, “all nonbinary people are valid!” until an afab and/or remotely fem nonbinary person who’s nblm reclaims the f slur and then suddenly it’s “you’re not nonbinary/queer enough to say that word!” or “you’re basically a straight woman!” some of you queer folks have such a weirdly cisnormative and heteronormative view of the world… like you have become the very thing you fought to destroy and it’s ACTUALLY annoying listening to you drop such awful takes.

Inanna | Ishtar
Goddess of Love and Divine Law
And of sexuality, fertility, war, wisdom, and civilization among other branches of these concepts.
I was searching for a culture or a symbol which honors feminine sensuality without diminishing or attempting to subjugate it. Without realizing it, I have been using one of Inanna's symbols for quite some time. Coming across this wikipedia article on her has helped me become aware of more context for the symbol, and I am happy to discover that it is completely appropriae to how I have been using it. I wonder how my heart knew of this magickal symbol's ancient meaning?
I was thinking of this word, slut, in english language culture, which is a word that I see sometimes women are trying to redefine and create acceptability for female sensuality through. It was not an entirely satisfactory word to me however, as I feel its context points to a lower view of female sexuality as subserviant or deviant. I was thinking of this word because I want to embracingly advocate liberal feminine sexuality and love, and I wanted to find another, better word, because I want to advocate feminine sexuality and love as highly honorable and divine, in whatever form it occurs.
I am a polyamorous woman, and I love to love, to make love, to romance, to seduce, to exalt, and to honor love's truth with sensuality, sexuality, and wholesome nurturing. There is so much stigma still against women being liberal with their sexuality in this way. I think some people are okay with the idea of female sexuality as long as it obeys the rules of culture, of others' power, of men, but this is not appropriate to the actualization of the highest will and power of female sensuality and sexuality. In my belief, love should never be repressed, suppressed, subjugated, or disregarded. Truth should always be honored to the utmost degree, and the truth of love should be honored with total freedom and exuberance. This might make some people afraid, but it will also be incredibly healing.
Freedom and Truth and Love are divine rights. To honor these is to honor ourselves, and also to honor all other beings.
I believe Inanna is a great symbol and guide for a new old view of feminine power and sensuality. When we are honest, expressive, and liberal with our love, I suggest that a good name for us to associate with is Innana Ishtar.

" Queerbaiter "
A flag for those who reclaim the term 'queerbaiter', which is defined as 'Someone who wrongfully used LGBTQIA+ representation to promote their media'. This term is sometimes used against queer people with queer representation in their media or in other similar cases.

Reclamation
by CordialCoroner (CordialCrow) (@cordialcrowe)
M, 6k, Wen Qing
Summary: After her death at the hands of the Jin, Wen Qing's spirit lingers. Kay's comments: As you can tell, I'm currently hungering for Wen Qing deserves a little revenge, as a treat. Wen Qing should have been allowed to go a little apeshit. In this story she gets to do so and I absolutely loved it. After her death, she lingers as a ghost in Lanling and learns of Wen Ning still being alive (and being experimented on) and the upcoming Siege on the Burial Mounds. She tries his best to stop it, but unfortunately, she's just a small little spirit. It's only when the Burial Mounds get involved that she gets the power-up she needs to take revenge. Excerpt: But it is not enough. Wen Qing can see it in their faces as they call for more blood. No one speaks on her brother’s behalf, but Wen Qing does not expect them to. Not even Jiang Wanyin, who’d had Wei Wuxian at his side for years, utters a single word in his defense. Instead, he is one of the ones most adamant about bringing about his downfall. “Yunmeng-Jiang is more than happy to lead the siege against the Burial Mounds,” Jiang Wanyin declares. Wen Qing swarms around him unnoticed, wishing she had hands so that she could wring his neck. Ingrate! Have you forgotten your debts? Of your visit to the Burial Mounds? You know there is no army, only the elderly and a toddler. Wen Qing surges around him, filled with anger yet unable to interact with its source in the slightest. And to think, my brother was willing to lay down his life for you, to give up his core. Jiang Wanyin is undeserving of such a gift. Wen Qing regretted that she allowed herself to be convinced into giving it to him. I should rip that core right out of your chest and make you mundane once more. Wen Qing thinks bitterly. Leave your lower dantian empty and hollow, just like your heart.
pov wen qing, canon divergence, revenge, ghost wen qing, angst, hurt no comfort, post-sunshot campaign, post-first siege of the burial mounds, burial mounds ensemble as a family, anger, grief/mourning, not jiang cheng friendly, first siege of the burial mounds
