I honestly wish Will knew about the role for Jace and got is because his acting is amazing. I really don't think Dom can act he has like two expressions and that's it and him and Kat have zero chemistry so it just makes it impossible to like clace, where as Will and Kat's chemistry was great in the episodes we had on them.

Can we discuss overreacting in fandoms? (I apologise in advance and I'm prepared for this hate I'm about to get)

So this post was brought on by all the drama that's gone on the last few days with Dominic Sherwood (actor who plays Jace on Shadowhunters). I've noticed all this #recastjace business going on, on twitter and I think it's ridiculous.

It's not the first time that this has happened in fandoms. I see it a lot..whether it's a band and a singer's nudes are released or it's a show and an actor screws up in some way. Whether it's a twitter post or a DUi celebrities mess up because they're people too.

I've noticed in most of theses situations it's "minorities" that have the problem. Like people who have different races/religions but the biggest culprit is the LGBTQ+dieogjskkenfkdkxwnfixoen (whatever other sexualities are out there before I get hate for that too).

Now now before you comment "listen here you straight white ass rich girl" I'm not straight and how do you know if I'm white or not? Plus I'm definitely not rich. Isn't it hypocritical to say horrible things like that and get away with it because you're a minority?

I don't think Dom should be fired. Not because I'm some rich ass white girl (I'm average class, at least until I'm older where I plan on living on the disability cause I can and cause it's hard to get jobs when you have a disability. Tbf I am white af because I'm Irish and we get like no sun). I don't think he should be fired because he screwed up, people screw up every day it's just not caught on camera. Celebrities aren't robots they can't be perfect role models all the time. Are you trying to tell me if someone came and was monitoring your life 24/7 you wouldn't say something you regret? Yeah. Right.

Now on to overreacting. Fans are fighting. People are bullying each other, people are bullying Dom, making them just as bad as they claim he is. Making them hypocrites. Plus look at all the fuss it's caused? It could have been completely avoided. He didn't hurt anyone only the fans who have nothing better to do than to criticise and be hypocritical while they hide behind a screen. Get off your high horse. There are bigger problems in the world can we please keep them out of our fandoms, our "safe" places? Save the hate for the real world and keep it off the Internet where you can hide and say what you want because you don't have to face the consequences.

Lmao yall are so extra trying to get Dom recast. He made a mistake and is to homophobic, plus why are yall not wanting Matt recast? It’s obviously part of their banter.

Let me start with a mistake is a putting a red sock in the washing machine with your whites. A mistake is buying the wrong sized clothing and not realising until you get home. A mistake is not knowing and purposely using a homophobic slur and being generally homophobic several times.

Matt didn’t say a word. He reacted in that situation how anybody should. He stopped him from going any further, told him that he shouldn’t have said that word and didn’t cause a scene. Matt has done so much for the LGBT+ community in the last couple of years. His dedication has literally saved peoples lives. We don’t know that he did anything wrong.

Millions of LGBT+ people have been systematically oppressed, tortured and even murdered by straight people using words like qu*er, f*ggot, d*kye and h*mo and our community has worked tirelessly for years to reclaim these words. We have reclaimed these words so we can use them again. Not so straight people can use them in their “banter”. Straight people don’t get to use these words in the same way that white people don’t get to use the n word and men don’t get to call people bitches. Because these words mean something very different when said by people who have oppressed us.

Every time we hear a straight person say these words it’s like a massive slap in the face. Hearing someone you respect, and look up to say it, that’s like a knife twisting in your gut.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve heard gay people say these words. It doesn’t matter if gay people have called you these words in a friendly manner. You don’t get to do it. 

It doesn’t matter that you “didn’t mean it that way” or “it was only a joke”. It’s not fucking funny. Not now. Not ever. It’s always offensive. It’s always disrespectful. It’s never okay. And if you use these words you should lose your jobs. You should face consequences no matter who you are.

We didn’t die for your banter.

Shocked & Disappointed (Ignorance Is No Excuse)

I’m am beyond disgusted with what happen with Matt And Dom on his Facebook live. The word that Dom used was discusting and the fact that Matt didn’t seem to be upset about it, says a lot. Frankly it shows that they are both far too comfortable using or hearing the word. I want argue that they are only human, because I’m human and would never use such a derogatory term. I also want make excuses and say that maybe both of them where brought up in surroundings that used these terms lightly, because growing up in the South myself, and being around plenty of racist and homophonic family members on a daily basis didnt make me turn out that way, because ignorance is never an excuse. I honestly don’t believe their is an excuse for the incident and if the actors we have come to love so much are truely not the sum of their actions, or that one one awful word, then this won’t happen again. After seeing the apology I believe that both Matt and Dom where sincere, but I also know that the show probably told them exactly what to say to clean up the situation. As for the movement that has quickly started to #RecastJace, I can understand why people are so outraged, but I would be heartbroken to see this show canceled or altered by a different actor. It’s hard to see your favorite actors fall from Grace, but I hope that the show isn’t affected. I know this is a sensitive subject, but I was really upset about it and just wanted to write my two cents, I look forward to reading what others are thinking about the situation as well.

honestly though recasting Jace would be the easiest thing to do on a show where we already had characters swap bodies and glamour themselves to look like someone else why isn’t freeform on this already

Shadowhunters is a popular fantasy show on the American channel Freeform, and is celebrated for its inclusion of people of colour and LGBTQ+ characters.

Recently, Dominic Sherwood, a main actor on the show who plays Jace Herondale, greeted his cast mate with “sup f*g” whilst he was live-streaming. The use of a homophobic slur has upset many of the show’s fans, plenty of whom identify as LGBTQ+ themselves and this hasn't been the first instance of Dominic perpetuating homophobic microaggressions.

This behaviour is unacceptable and is extremely unfair to both the fans of the show and the LGBTQ+ identifying cast mates and crew members who have to be around somebody who uses homophobic language casually in his day to day dialect. Many fans have began tweeting #RecastJace since the incident, in the hope that Dominic faces serious consequences and is fired from his role. It is wrong for Freeform to keep someone within their company who is known to be homophobic when they are a network that prides themselves on celebrating diversity and promoting inclusivity.

Friendly reminder that David Castro, is a Trump supporter, and you don't see any of those people using the recastjace tag, cutting Dom out of the pictures and saying shit about him, doing the same with David (ps I'm not saying people should do that), you know why? I'm NOT a Dom stan.

So a lot of people are assuming I'm a Dom stan. Honestly I never pay too much attention to actors outside of shows besides Mariska Hargitay who stars on Law & Order: Special Victims unit and of course Matt (shadowhunters obviously 😂)

I'm still debating on whether I want to identify as LGBTQIA+ (had to throw in the A this time 😂). I know a lot of people think asexual people don't belong there and that's a debate for another day.

Now let me get back on track I am NOT a Dom stan however I don't think they need to #recastjace maybe they need to punish him, sure but recasting him won't do any good. I also want to clarify that just because I don't want him to be punished to the highest degree doesn't mean I condone what he did. I still stand by the fact that he is only human and humans screw up whether they're gay or straight or bi or anything in between or even religious or non religious. Black or white.

Hopefully he will learn from his mistakes and if he doesn't then you can preach #recastjace also those who say "it's not his first time being homophobic" he mentioned Aline kissing Jace that didn't mean he wanted her to be straight a lot of LGBTQ+ characters kiss different genders to figure things out or to cover things up. I mean (at least show Aline) isn't openly out yet, she said so herself.

As for comparing Malec to Clace I'm glad he did because he was finally normalising a gay couple and putting it up there with the heteros ALTHOUGH I was REALLY annoyed when he said Clace had more chemistry I'm like hahaha where???

As for the people dragging Matt into this just because it was his live doesn't mean it has anything to do with him. He's been a major supporter of LGBTQ+ rights and tries to be as sensitive to the situation as possible. He handled it as best he could.
