Sometimes I deliberately fail the “Prove you’re not a robot” recaptcha tests so that the robots don’t feel alone. It’s okay buddy, everyone makes mistakes, you don’t have to feel embarrassed.

Once again, the damned robits are out here forcing me to lie through my teeth and reinforce their incorrect "majority rules" conception of the world in order to access basic government services (ironically, in this case to replace my driver's license).

Yes, feckless robit, I know that upper-left vehicle superficially looks like a bus, is generally bus-shaped, but if you look closely, it is CLEARLY a Class A motorhome parked in someone's side yard:

See those weird tiny side windows? The little awnings over said windows? The A/C units poking out the top? The CURTAINS in the FRONT WINDOWS?

But no, just because everyone else who was clicking through just trying to go about their day saw a big square vehicle and said "yeah sure that's a bus" (which is totally fair!), I am REQUIRED to feed into a world-eating corporation's garbage-in garbage-out AI ontology of the world and reinforce a categorization I know to be unambiguously incorrect, in order to obtain the identification documents that are required for me to operate in this society.

Looking forward to when I have to renew my license, at which time I'm sure the captchas will have evolved to be a conversation with ChatGPT where I have to figure out what flawed conception of the world I have to pay lipservice to in order to validate my continued existence.

ReCaptcha is bad, don't use it, it should be burned in the fires of this capitalist hellscape along with everything else.

firefoxでrecaptchaが出る場面で、ボタンを押してもそのまま何も出来ない状況になってしまった。

自分だけの現象かと思ったが、他の人も言及していたのでfirefoxのアップデートにより最初の設定だとダメになったらしい。

chromeやedgeでは問題なく動作する。

ただブラウザの選定はアドオンの充実度とか総合的に判断したので、今はブラウザを変える気にはならない。

firefox非対応のサイトが増えたら考える。

PCと合わせるためスマホでもfirefoxだが、Androidアプリでchromeに飛ばすものがあってそれだけは面倒である。chrome自体、停止してるので。

A rant: I loathe CAPTCHAS with a burning passion. They used to be fine but now they're nearly impossible to solve. I cannot tell you how many minutes of my life I have wasted trying to click on images of crossroads, motorcycles or traffic lights, only to do it "wrong" and have to start over again. 😭 I cannot tell you how many times my boomer parents rang me saying that the CAPCHA won't go away and they can't access a website or even log into an account. I cannot tell you how many times I gave up entirely on accessing a website because the CAPTCHA asked me to look at this incomprehensible image of letters and numbers mixed together, and I couldn't do it because I'm visually impaired. Don't get me started on the AI-generated images they seem to use in CAPCTHAS more, nowadays.

There have to be better ways to determine whether a user is a human, without infringing on their privacy OR frustrating the blood out of them.
