Year 3 of the island was honestly my favorite year. I just fell in love with Secret Agent Oliver, and was surprised by how few fics there are that are set during that time. But I did manage to find a few, so here is a rec of my favorites.

My Comments: This fic is set during year three of the island, where Felicity is there for Hong Kong and she’s paired up with Oliver working for ARGUS. I have to say that I fell in love with this fic. Year three was always my favorite part of the island. And I love secret agent Oliver as well. Even though there are only five chapters (6th is an author’s note) this fic is to die for. Kaylee is doing a rewrite of this fic, of which there is only one chapter of, but even so I’ll link it down below. Also for the word count, I subtracted the author’s note from the one AO3 has, so that’s why it’s different. Also Kaylee has both the original and repeat posted on ff.net, so I’ll link those down below

My Comments: This is a good fic! I love the romance between Oliver and Felicity and Felicity and Tommy. The ending is okay, but I get that the Author was setting up the next fic in the series. I highly recommend this one, it’s sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.

My Comments: I absolutely love this fic. It definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat! I love anything with soulmates, so combining that with Olicity and year three of the island was just a dream come true. I definitely recommend giving this one a read. There is a sequel that goes into year 4 that is amazing as well. I will link that down below.

The only way to keep them safe is to go public with Oliver being alive, leaving him back home in charge of Akio, while Tatsu and Maseo are still in the wind. Oliver has to get used to being back home where he doesn’t fit anymore, while also taking care of a child and getting caught up in a larger conspiracy that keeps the existence of the Alpha-Omega virus secret. In the meantime, his primary mission is to reunite Akio with his parents, something that isn’t the easiest when being back from the dead and in the spotlight.

My Comments: This is an ongoing fic that I absolutely love. I loved the bond between Akio and Oliver, and seeing it build and play out is just wonderful. I also love Oliver trying to adapt to life back home after everything he’s been through. The author updates this fic fairly regularly so be sure to keep an eye on it.

I have so many tv ships, but unfortunately not many that are recent finds. THEY HAVE BEEN SLACKING.

I’m probably only going to mention ones that didn’t get cancelled and don’t have a miserable ending because I’ve got your back. If you’ve not watched teen wolf, immediately stydia. They sucked me into fandom. Delena from tvd. Joey and Pacey from Dawson’s creek is one a lot of people miss because it’s older, but y’all they are SO good. S3 jacey is one of the best executions of a ship I’ve seen period. Olicity from arrow in S1-S3 was also EXCELLENT and you could even stop at S3 if you want (I think the show kind of just went downhill after S3 but it was easily the best DC Cw show too). Captainswan from once upon a time was cute and they had a nice ending! Zoe and Wade from hart of Dixie is also an underrated one I had so much fun binging for. Obviously you’ve probably seen I’m a bellyconrad fan from the summer I turned pretty. Nace from Nancy drew but I’m sure you’ve also seen me on about that one. Also loved chenford in the rookie (S1-S2 was absolutely peak slow burn) and they are now canon, but I personally found the way they got together very meh so I’d say watch at your own risk.

I’m probably forgetting some but these are the ones that immediately come to mind! All my more recent hyperfixations kept getting cancelled 😭

Day Two: Fic Rec/Team Arrow.

All Olicity fics. All from my bookmarks. I don’t have a lot of season two Olicity/arrow in general fics so disclaimer that a lot of these are by the same (wonderful) author. I ran out of commentary towards the end but these are all amazing fics!!

Of Green Blankets and Office Naps by imfallingforyoureyes102.

Summary:

When Moira Queen goes to drop off some documents in Oliver’s office, she happens upon a certain blonde unknowingly chattering away to a sleeping Oliver and watches in fascination at the almost domestic way Felicity pries off his shoes and gently pulls off the tie from around his neck.

(Or, a very tired Oliver falls asleep in his office, Felicity makes him comfortable when he refuses to wake up, and Moira watches in awe as the computer genius dances around the office, closing the blinds and shutting down his computer, without so much as a grunt from the man that can never seem to sleep in the presence of anyone else.)

This one unfortunately, isn’t surrounding the unspeakable episode but it is still so amazing that I couldn’t NOT add it in context. I love LOVE fics that are from the outsiders perspective of Olicity, especially early season and from the people closest to them both! I love how Moira is written in this! And how the writer captured Olicity’s dynamic pre-relationship/confession! It’s such a cute fic!

Set right after season two Felicity lets Oliver crash on her couch because the queen mansion/inheritance isn’t his anymore and he’s unemployed. I love the opening scene being Felicity waking Oliver up from a nightmare. His thought process is so well written!!!! I love how the writer writes Felicity’s commitment issues as well, not a lot of people do that. Also Walter calling to offer them a job at his company is so funny afjkgfc

Set in season 2 in Sara’s POV - Sara deals with Laurel in the aftermath of Slade Wilson. Laurel makes a play for Oliver’s heart while Sara silently ships Olicity. But then again Sara was never that great at being completely silent.

Sara being an Olicity shipper and somehow (a little) more emotionally healthy than Oliver is an amazing combo. I love Canarrow but it’s really nice to see Sara and Oliver being friends. This is so nice!!

55. Oliver and Felicity Arrow

As most DC Comics fans know, Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), a.k.a. the Green Arrow, and computer genius Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) shouldn't have been endgame on Arrow. In the comics, Oliver is romantically paired with Black Canary, and the show did explore Oliver's connection with Laurel (Katie Cassidy), who would eventually become the black leather-clad vigilante, in season 1. However, it eventually ignored the canon and Olicity became the main love story because of Amell and Rickards' undeniable chemistry, on display from their first scene in Arrow's third episode, and the two characters eventually got married. "They're such opposites. I think that's what draws everyone in a little bit," showrunner Beth Schwartz told EW in 2018. "You don't see the [love story of a] super intelligent woman and the sort of hunky, athletic man very often. She's obviously a gorgeous woman, but what he really loves is her brain." Meanwhile, Amell attributes the couple's success to the fans of Rickards' performance. "She's supremely talented and awesome and carved out a space that no one anticipated," he told EW ahead of the final season. "I don't know that the show works if we don't randomly find her." —C.A.

Summary: Felicity Smoak knows that sleeping with the boss's son goes against the rules of her summer internship at Queen Consolidated in about a hundred different ways. She knows, but it doesn't matter.

Summary: A very quickly written prompt fill for the Olicity Summer Sizzle prompt "Jealous". Set in the summer after season 3 when Oliver and Felicity are on their trip around the world together.

Summary: When Oliver told Thea and Tommy that he had a girlfriend, one that lived some miles away from Starling, and they met online, of course the Queen heiress was skeptical. It sounded very much like a narrative made for hers and his best friend’s peace of mind. Now, months later, Oliver claimed his supposed girlfriend was arriving in Starling on the weekend. Thea was paying to see this. (Fifty bucks, exactly, according to her bet with Tommy.)

Summary: She tucked her pen back into her hair and stuck the order slip to the line-up in the kitchen window before heading off to check on another table. She was… cute. Not his type. Which was a good thing. A summer fling with some small town girl was on the list of distractions and temptations he was supposed to be avoiding.

(aka the one where Oliver gets sent to a small seaside town to do his court mandated community service hours and his life becomes a Nicholas Sparks plot)

First Impressions  (chapters: 14/14)

Summary: Modern Pride and Prejudice AU: “It is a truth universally acknowledged that a young woman in possession of a great intellect must be in want of job that requires its use.” But Felicity Smoak seemed stuck in the quiet beach town of Hertfordshire forever. Will the handsome summer tourist and his snobby best friend save her from another season of boredom or will Oliver Queen’s stuck up attitude make Felicity want to strangle him before it’s even over?

fic recs

So, before I forget, for international fanworks day, some fic recommendations. I already wrote a post in september containing quite a few stories that I absolutely love (mostly Sylvaina) and I'll list my favourites again, but there's more behind the cut.

Just as I wrote back in my original post: if you're only ever going to read one fanfic in your life, go read the incredicble Increments of Longing. Even if you don't know anything about World of Warcraft, you'll enjoy it (well, if you're into femslash and fantasy that is).

Another Sylvaina story that I have also read and re-read multiple times now is Worth The Trouble.

A World of Warcraft Dragon Age Inquisition crossover - not yet finished, but I have high hopes - and absolutely lovely to read in terms of characterisation and development between Jaina and Sylvanas is To love what is mortal.

Another Sylvaina entry here is the Heart of Ashes Verse, which gives us a alternative (Legion)/BFA storyline.

And as far as unfinished stories that hurt you just the right way go check out Waystation Four and Never Smile at a Sabercat.

And a real interesting take on elves and how they work in this AU of WoW is found here (sadly unfinished too): What's in a Name? (This one is totally not safe for work from start to finish though :D, most other stories that I recommend here, while featuring some sexy times, start slower.)

One of the most interesting and realistic takes (and very much wholesome Bering and Wells and nicely fitting into the Warehouse 13 world) of the A/B/O trope is Mind Over Matter (Hearts Over Minds). [Though I have actually no clue what I'm talking about because 2021 was the first time I ever came in contact with that trope - I've been living under a rock apparently and was hella confused, because I read a few entries of an urban fantasy series once that also had alpha and omega, though they were actual wolves/shapeshifters and lets just say the fanfic stuff was not what I expected when I clicked on the first story tagged with alpha/omega lmao - and while that was in different fandoms, most of it was from the same author too, so take my recommendation however you want.]

One of my all time favourite Bering and Wells fanfics is Wings.

Also another all time favourite Bering and Wells is "Timeless" by Anik LaChev. You could say it's a timeless classic :D. (You'll have to scroll down a bit on the site to find the link and password, but it's absolutely worth it. It's amazing!)

A really fascinating (and so far sadly unfinished) Historical fiction AU with eldritch horrer elements and pirates with femShep/Liara (and crossdressing - and look, I know it's probably silly, but ever since I watched Prinzessin Fantaghiro as a kid I really love that trope) that I cannot recommend enough is Shepard of the High Seas.

Another repeat - for combining my favourite videogame with my favourite tv show: that SG-1 femShep/Liara crossover New Beginnings.

On the Oliver Queen/Felicity Smoak side of things, I can only repeat what I already wrote: absolutely check out the Felicitas series. It's amazing (it's a Highlander/Raven Crossover with Arrow). I've been following that story for more than six years now.

Another thing: most of the authors of those fics have written not just one but several amazing stories in their respective fandoms and you really might want to check them out too (like, I skipped over pure PWP stuff for these recs, but it is readily available)!
