SENSES/MEMORIES/ART. hc meme. (feel free to reblog!)
SENSES.
TASTE: What are your muses favorite ingredients, spices, flavors, and food/medicine/potion textures? What are their least favorite? Is their palate polished, are they a picky eater, do they appreciate flavors, do they appreciate food?
SMELL: What does your muse smell like? What are their favorite fragrances, places, people, foods, objects, pils, animals, etc, to smell? Alternatively, what’s one usually pleasant thing that they can’t STAND to smell?
SIGHT: What are their favorite colors? Is their vision clear or blurry? What do they look at first when meeting a new person, an oldmfriend, a family member, an enemy, a lover? What do they look at first when entering their home, an unfamiliar environment, a bar, their favorite place, their place of work, or their school?
SOUND: How is their hearing? Are their ears sensitive? What sounds scare or trigger them? What sounds irritate them? What sounds calm them down?
SOUND2: What is your muse’s voice like? What do their footsteps sound like? Do they snore? Do they have any specific vocal tics or physical habits that make noise?
TOUCH: How does your muse like to be touched? How can your muse NOT HANDLE being touched? Are there any spots where they are ticklish or always sore and tense? Does your muse like touching specific objects or specific people in their lives in certain ways to calm themselves down or entertain themself—example: stroking a lucky charm or poking a lover’s forehead?
MEMORY.
FAMILY: What’s one specific memory of a loved one that your muse thinks about often, that is trivial and casual, and mundane? Example: Remembering that your Mom put an childhood drawing on the fridge and never took it down, remembering a word you weren’t allowed to say around your grandma? It doesn’t have to be good, or bad, it just has to be something that sticks in their brain?
FAMILY2: What is one way your muse’s family taught them to have pride—either in themself, their culture, or certain accomplishments, whether or not they managed to live up to them? (example: their parents taught them to have pride in good grades, but they always struggled in school.) In what ways did your muse’s family teach them to be ashamed of themself, for any reason?
CHILDHOOD: What’s a blatantly positive experience during their childhood that they feel only embarrassment over looking back on it? What’s a nickname they had that they grew out of? Who’s a friend they don’t talk to, anymore, that they still think about sometimes, that they betrayed or hurt in some way? What’s one way they think they disappointed their parents—when their parents didn’t really care? What’s one way your muse disappointed their parents—but your muse believes their parents were wrong? What’s one way they broke a rule or promise they still remember? What do they feel guilty about, for any reason?
MIDDLE SCHOOL: How did your muse rebel as a child/teenager? What were the strengths and skills they started to exhibit around the age of puberty, what made them stand out from the pack, physically, emotionally, and how did that affect their interactions with their peers and the adults in their life?
ROMANCE: What are your muse’s brushes with romance, early in their life? Did they have any toxic best friends, lovers, rivals, who they had feelings for, requited or not? How did they learn the ins and outs of their own sexuality, how have their relationships and relationship history make them feel MORE powerful, or less? What’s one kiss they’ll never forget for a BAD reason? What’s one “goodbye” that they’ll never forget for a GOOD reason?
LIFE LESSONS: Who taught your muse the most about life, or where did they pick up their basic life skills (cooking, cleaning, self-care) vs about their interests and hobbies, vs the skills for their academic or occupational pursuits? Does your muse have a natural curiosity about the world? Why or why not? Do they have a specific memory of being hurt by the world that made them afraid of it? Who taught them they don’t have to be afraid?
LIFE LESSONS2: Who taught your muse right from wrong? Do they still believe in that person? Did they learn it again, new and fresh, from someone else afterwards? When did they realize their parents and teachers didn’t know everything? When did they learn to trust in their own beliefs, and form those own beliefs themself?
ART.
FOOD: What was your muse’s favorite restaurant before it closed down? What’s their favorite kind of food, to eat, to make for their friends, their family, people they’re trying tonimpress, people they secretly hate, and is it different for each? What foods do they actually eat regularly? Where do they like to get ingredients, is the quality of the ingredients/food they regularly eat important to them? Is there anyone who they want to cook for them as a love language? Is there any food they refuse to eat?
FANTASY: Does your muse read any non-fiction or “legends of old heroes”? What themes and heroes do they gravitate towards? If they like a good romance, do their fictional romantic tastes align with their real life romantic tastes? Why or why not? For adult muses only, same question, but about smut. Are there any fairy tales they like as a child they still think about now, or find ironic now? Do they have any stories, OCs, poetry or creative writing of their own? Is it good? Does it reflect them in any way? How?
IMAGERY: What kind of imagery or symbolism is your muse drawn to? What imagery or symbolism do YOU like for your muse? Is there any imagery or symbolism you like to write about with your ship partners? What is some imagery you like others to use for your muse? And then, of course, the big question: WHY!
NATURE: What parts of nature do they find most beautiful? What parts of the world they live in, or the fantasy magic Gods, or creatures with in, most appeal to them, scare them, sicken them, make them angry!
SCULPTURE: If your muse could look any particular way, or make anything, or change the world in any way, with NO RULES, just all the power in the world, what would it look like, feel like, etc?
MEANING: What gives their life meaning? What does life mean to them? How do they define them self and their place un the world? What keeps them going through all the pain?
CREATION: What makes your character special to you? Why do you love them, hate them, or want to change them, or watch them grow? What do you love about the way you write your character, what are you striving for in every single reply and HC? What does your character and their story mean to YOU?
EVER AFTERs: What is the one thing you most wish for your muse, and their “good” or “bad” ending? How do you think they need to develop for them to get there, do you have any secret wishlist plot ideas or dynamics that could help?

A little different than last year's, but here we are again. To say that this past year hasn't been absolutely wild would be a lie, cause HOLY SHIT MAN
This year's birthday is. A little different for me, but you already have the silly comic to show that so I won't make like a broken record oops
But, despite the changes and hills that life's decided I should climb or throw at, it hasn't changed the fact that I'm so genuinely fucking thankful to the people that I've known since joining this fandom. I'm not even kidding when I say that being here has actually changed my life for the better. I know I said something similar last year, but this time, hoo boy it sure turned up the AMP and test how far I could go.
So, to everyone, both new and old; thank you for being here :D

My headcanon is that Harrow The Ninth is a novel Gideon wrote during NtN for Harrow, as a way of staying sane and processing. That's what she was doing during the 6 months she was stuck with Jod and Ianthe; she was writing a novel in case Harrow came back and couldn't remember anything. That she has a lot of Harrow's memories from that time and assumed that she had them because Harrow didnt, and if harrow didnt remember all that happened that year on the mithreum, it was Gideon's duty to tell her. So she started writing a book, and it became half way through a journal and coping mechanism for the loss, and how much she misses Harrow.

I present you with a hypothetical, it goes as follows:
A man sees the world only in shadows, and understands it only as so. If he stands close to another, their shadows eclipse. Does he believe the two shadows belong to the same thing? Does he believe to be close to something is to become it? Does he fear what moving apart from that shadow might do? Does he not know fully what he fears, in moving away, forgetting-or not understanding-what he is when he isn't a shadow of something else?
Is he a fool for this? Do you take him for a fool? Answer me.

I keep getting shown transmasc posts and I actually love that for one reason in particular: a lot of trans men are talking about issues that affect men in general.
I see a lot of pushback against the idea of "transandrophobia" and maybe I've missed something, but fuck it, I'm gonna throw my name behind that movement because it *sounds* correct, from all I've seen so far.
It bothers me that there would be pushback at all, actually, because that indicates that we're still not willing to discuss how patriarchy oppresses men. And if you just scoffed at that, you're part of the problem.
In general, patriarchy upholds a role for both sexes that don't work for an actual human being:
Women are reduced to sex objects. They are emotional and weak, and they can't be trusted with anything outside of child rearing and household chores. This is misogyny, and it's the part you know.
Men are reduced to working bodies. They are emotionless and cold. They keep the family alive, they come up with the ideas, they worry about everything, and they do it all alone, stoically. This is misandry, and it's the part people will laugh at.
You may think the description of men's role is too positive, but I think that means you've never experienced it yourself. As a trans woman, I have. I can tell you with some certainty that the reason why men are "like that" is because they're required by society to be emotionally isolated and expressionless. If they don't go through life "like that" (even to the extent that being "like that" harms women or perpetuates patriarchal oppression of all genders) they're emasculated and shamed and ridiculed relentlessly until they feel worthless. But remember, they can't express that feeling of worthlessness either. It's a vicious cycle, and it's what oppresses men.
Humans weren't made to be like that, and encouraging anyone to behave in that way is misandry. Reducing the male struggle to one of a ruling class is misandry. And yes, assuming they're all predators and misogynists is misandry.
Tying it back to transandrophobia, if you start talking to a trans man as if he's a misogynist for feeling dysphoria from something that would give a *cis* man dysphoria (i.e emasculation), you've really missed the issue. But from the look of things, trans men haven't missed the issue. You just dismissed them like you would any man before the issue could be breached.
That's not constructive, and it's not going to lead to female empowerment any time soon. It's just going to stall men's lib.
