elaborating on my earlier reblog because i didn't wanna derail that well-meaning post, but it bears repeating, especially since i've seen a bunch of younger trekkie fans now follow me and may be unaware of what's going on:
[tw: antisemitism, racism, Nazi mention]
kids, spock's blood is not green because it is copper-based. it's the other way around: it's copper based so they could make it green because spock was jewish-coded.
most jewish trekkies & trekkers actually do prefer spock's blood to be blue in fanart, because star trek being ahead of the times does not mean it wasn't steeped in racism and misogyny - most white fans don't know the malicious stereotypes associated with green blood, pointed ears and a 'sinister look' for such a jewish-coded character, but it takes 5 minutes to learn about it (and learn to look out for that shit and not perpetuate it). jewish fans have pointed this out forever and i wish we would just collectively listen
and i don't mean he was "jewish-headcanoned", i mean in actual canon - the way mccoy at one point calls him a "green-blooded hobgoblin" is very deliberate, underlines his 'otherness' (and jewishness), and is nearly equivalent to calling spock a slur. his appearance being compared to that of 'the devil' which happens a couple of times throughout the show is also antisemitic.
[image of an antisemitic 1940s Nazi propaganda film poster depicting a jewish man with greenish complexion, pointed ears, black hair and beard and prominent bushy eyebrows. this comes straight from middle ages depictions of the devil which you can see in the second picture.]
and it may be easy to dismiss all this by saying it's overkill, but remember that spock is especially jewish-coded because leonard nimoy was allowed to infuse a lot of his own jewishness into the character (the llap spock salute being a rabbinical gesture is just one of the many examples) and the fandom has embraced this as an inextricable component of the character, therefore as such it has to be respected.
the great thing about spock and star trek is that, even though nimoy embodied all the qualities that up until that point in tv and cinema would have made him a villain, he was a force for GOOD. (and also, women by that point were fed up with the blonde blue-eyed captain protagonist trope and flocked in droves toward the more original and frankly more interesting character of the conflicted, outcast, logical first officer). so let's respect the heritage that enabled spock to be such a novel and iconic character on the show.
tl;dr: it's better (for fellow artists) to just use blue to depict spock's blood instead of green, the same way we are not perpetuating some of the misogynistic tropes linked to nurse chapel's character or the racist undertones in uhura's character.
even his makeup on the show is blue, not green!
if you still want to draw his blood as green, by all means, do. but know you're advertising at best ignorance and at worst insensitivity to your fellow jewish (and non-jewish!) fans who have explained this over and over in fandom spaces.

You can't just look at a semi realistic digital painting for five seconds and declare "this is obviously AI generated" like there's being vigilant in spotting the differences and then there's just being annoying and labeling all digital art as being fake. That ain't helping anyone or anything. If it's doing anything it's making actual artists not want to publish their work simply because some AI generators pilfered their style and because of that some chucklefucks decided to fill the comments of all their works with "umm AI generated"

people can use this site however they want but there's something almost- idk, sad? about how few people are actually using their blogs. you can turn themes on and have skeletons dancing in the background. you can make everything hot pink. your blog is your scrapbook and you can put whatever you want in there. tags are okay at organizing things so you can have just a whole archive of cool shit to look at later. i know people complain a lot about people liking stuff about reblogging for engagement, and on one hand i get that- it is WILD to see a drawing i spent hours on get only 12 reblogs and 60 likes. Absolute culture shock compared to my previous fandoms. but i don't think you should reblog anything to make artists happy. i think you should reblog things so you can find them again. i think you should queue things to appear on the dash at specific times on certain days. i think you should reblog things so when you're talking to your friends about xyz post you saw you can look in your blog's archive and find it again. i think you should reblog things so that your dash is filled with one really sleepy cat. with the loss of reblogs there's the loss of engagement, which Does hurt the community-focus that makes tumblr so appealing, but idk i just wish people were more excited about the incredible amount of customization that tumblr allows and took advantage of that more

taps the mic. any furries here?
If yall were to assign an animal to your ocs, what would it be?
Vincent already has a strong bug association (nerd <3) so, building on that, they'd either be a blue day moth (moths are reportedly common in the neath and are also just a favourite of mine, this species in particular is the perfect colours for them) or a blue papua mantis (smart vibes TM and awkward looking, specifically blue :3)
Pembroke would be a borzoi! Fancy and elegant looking, but still a hunting dog >:) Pretty but vicious~
Silverstein (if not something artificial a la robot) would be one of those big but gentle dogs, though I don't have a specific breed in mind. Would be a guard dog if you asked but is mostly content to just sit <3

my dilemma is idk if i should get my brother in law a birthday gift or not. On one hand, i do not have the mental wellbeing to deal with them getting bitchy if i don’t, but on the other hand, I don’t want them thinking me buying him one is a sign of peace or whatever, i think him and my sister can, to be Very mild to what i’m feeling, can take a long walk off the shortest pier around here (we have a lot of piers). If not that, I have a plan with a cactus. My ideals do not include spending my money on him.
and i’m the only person in the family they’ve not Yet personally attacked, just peripherally. But i’d really rather Not have them make me anxious to carry my phone around bc of what bs they might send me at any hour of the day, you know?
but also i’d rather they not get me a gift for My birthday bc they so very maturely ruined my last one in the process of delivering my gift and acting like 4 year olds and i figure a good way to achieve that is to not buy them gifts sooooo yeah
why can’t they just act like normal functioning people???? Jumping to the worst conclusions and then digging your feet is bc u can’t stand to be wrong to the point you burn all bridges in your life is not a good ideaaaaaa
