Honestly, if Hunter had stunned Crosshair early in the pursuit of Caleb, the Padawan may have trusted him.

But then Hunter would have had to hide with Caleb deep in the woods of Kaller until the rest of the squad found a way to reunite with them...without Crosshair.

I could see it as an alternative storyline. However, Hunter even mentions later on in TBB "We didn't understand what was happening at the time". And if they rescued Caleb they would have NEVER been able to return to Kamino.

That means we would have not seen what their life might have looked like, the lunch fight scene, the Batch witnessing Palatine's speech for The New Galactic Empire, or even met Omega.

Also, Caleb would not become Kanan Jarrus and be a part of Rebels. Ezra would have never met Kanan. And Maul would have maybe possibly taken Ezra as Padawan. I do think Caleb could possibly would have met Hera in that timeline. Maybe even grown up together with Omega. I would LOVE a sweet story with the 3 of them as found family siblings or cousins.

So, technically in TBB timeline Hunter/The Batch saved one small child. But it wasn't Caleb.

Although an alternative universe story with The Batch saving Kanan who eventually uses The Force to help find Omega, and Ventures coming to claim Kanan as Padawan is something I would DEFINITELY read!

You know what we need in the new Clone Wars season?  The scene from A New Dawn with a young Caleb Dume talking to Obi-wan Kenobi about the Jedi Temple’s beacon and how it could be used the opposite way to warn the Jedi not to return to the temple.  I think I would cry.
