Maybe I just haven't gotten far enough in TGAAC but I noticed a contradiction... (Spoilers ahead)

I'm talking about The Reaper's Curse again because I noticed how the story has changed around it, gradually.

At first, it seems like Barok van Zieks has such a high conviction rate (getting a lot of people condemned to death) - but when you get McGilded acquitted, he gets killed anyways because literally anyone who is on the dock against Van Zieks is marked for death.

Fast forward to the final case of the first Chronicles game. It's revealed that neither Van Zieks or some supernatural entity surrounding him killed McGilded. Ashley Graydon did it completely on his own as an act of revenge. He saw an opportunity for murder and took it.

But despite this logical explanation (along with a later conversation Ryunosuke has with Van Zieks about the identity of the Reaper that points to the criminal underworld targeting their rivals and blaming the chalice-hurling prosecutor) - the Reaper's Curse is still looked at as paranormal. And the only way to escape it is to leave London (or rather, England itself.)

It's all very strange.

To me it's like if someone's home was apparently being haunted by a ghost, and they were seeing and hearing things that weren't there. Then they went out to buy a carbon monoxide detector and heard it beeping, but still believed a ghost was causing the problem and moved to a brand new place the next day.

Was Soseki truly in danger being in court twice against Van Zieks, so he had no choice but to go back home?

Is Inspector Gregson correct thinking Gina is in danger too? Is the surprise trip he's planning to France justified?

And...since I read spoilers, does Professor Harebrayne really have to go back to studying in Germany?

Those three aren't part of the criminal underworld, so it doesn't add up.

I'm still banking heavily on the "long con" and "someone setting up Barok to fall as part of a Big Master Plan" theories, and wonder how close I am to the truth.

It might be a while before I reach it though...

I decided to attempt playing the Sims 4 again since it's been a minute

Alright so first I wanted to check in on all the households to get an idea what everyone's story was. (Spoiler: I didn't make it very far before getting distracted by their family drama)

I started off with the Bailey-Moon household.

Thorne is mourning someone. I don't know who. I never know who actually because I tend to forget to turn off the accidental deaths in neighborhood stories (EDIT: It was his son, Walker. Poor Walker had an unfortunate encounter with a killer rabbit) Octavia is having a mid-life crisis. She also feels like a poser because she's living in a celebrity home. Orange is a stay-at-home dad. He's doing a good job with all the babies in the house. He wants another baby. Orange. There are three newborns in this house already. I think you have enough for now. It turns out that only two of the babies are his but my point still stands. Investigation of the family tree revealed that Thorne & Octavia had four total kids: Orange, Walker, Jenna, and April.

According to the tree, one of Orange's kids was fathered by a grim reaper????? And Orange's sister Jenna had a baby with Johnny Zest??? I'm pretty sure Johnny is an elder and she's barely a young adult so I don't know when that happened.

Moving on to the Zest household because I need to know.

Aw the baby's name is Journey Moon. This kid must be destined to be an astronaut. Johnny wants to propose to Jenna! Wait, who is this "Skye" in your romance panel, Johnny? Annnnd now he wants a baby. Fine try for baby. Nope not pregnant, try again. Jenna you better be pregnant this time because Johnny is dangerously tired. Ohhh? Skye is calling Johnny because she wants to hang out at his house? Alright let's see where this goes. Skye and Jenna are having a nice conversation. Right after Skye left she called Johnny to tell him his girlfriend was cool. Few minutes later she calls Jenna to hang out. Why not. She could use more friends. OK they're being friendly. Wait. WAIT. Did I see that right? Skye just blew a kiss at her? And Jenna is flirting BACK! I thought Skye was Johnny's sweetheart? Johnny came home from work. He sees Skye flirting with his girlfriend and... she kisses him?! Skye you were just flirting with Jenna!

Pausing the game for now but I think I already know which household I'll be playing as next..

every time I talk to my best friend about TGAA and he says something that gets addressed way later in the games I start vibrating. But I cannot tell him anything. He must discover on his own

I am a different anon than the one who did the last cat ask but may I please get the love interests, Winter, Bailey (and ivory wraith if you do then) with PC who has a massive black cat always follow them around? There is the fae creature from Ireland/Scotland (I seen both online) called the Cait-sith/cat sith which is a dog sized black cat with a white patch of fur only on its chest. It acts pretty similarly to the grin reaper, has human intelligence and sometimes plays tricks on humans. PC's cat isn't nearly as big but looks pretty similar and seems to understand human language and is too clever to be your run of the mill cat. Maybe even like helps them escape from places like the underground farm and brothel. Bailey has tried kicking it out but always seems to come back but when Bailey wants to try and do something he can never reach the cat. Probably even gives Bailey a glare every time he tries to come and collect rent, always laying on a peacefully sleeping PC.

Sorry if it's too much or like uninteresting because all the other cat asks

Whitney often tries to fuck with it, like a lot. After one particular time, he stops and refuses to talk about it. He respects the cat and gives it distance.

Kylar doesn't like how close you are to the cat. He tries to get rid of the cat in many ways, but it always comes back. It takes a long while but they come to an understanding, they both want to help keep you safe.

Robin is scared of them to be honest. There is just something about the cat that puts him off, but he knows how attached the two of you are and doesn't say anything.

Sydney sees it for what it is, this cat is special....

Alex knows something is off but doesn't question it. When the cat is around Remy's goons don't attack the farm overnight. That a win for him.

Avery knows there's something special about this cat and he wants it but it evades him every time

Eden knows what the cat is. He's heard stories from Winter about the cat sith and knows he should respect the creature.

Bailey says there are no pets allowed and he's pissed that this damn thing keeps coming back. He stops trying after a while, it's obviously never gonna work and it's keeping his best moneymaker safe so fuck it. He still has stare downs with it at night when nobody is around, maybe he tries giving them a treat. Who knows....

Winter sees the resemblance to the cat sith and is very interested. He offers you a few books about it and makes sure to keep treats at the museum for when you come with it. He asks all kinds of questions that you have zero fucking answers for but he's not upset.

IW recognizes the cat when they come for you during the blood moon. They kinda stare each other down before IW backs off. They have a past....
