I haven't had time to think things too deeply yet and haven't dove into the tags but are there really people reflecting the exact thing Jimmy did in the game at it's most basic? It seems a little tragically poetic to me since Jimmy placed all the blame on others and refused to take responsibility for anything, even in the end it was a selfish action rather than a responsible one.

I also feel like Curly was somewhat more aware on some level of the danger Jimmy presented, the long foreboding walk down the stairs to the cockpit to take Jimmy's psych evaluation, the emergency alarms ringing and the broken ladders presenting a feeling of no escape.

Was anyone there even trained to handle a situation like this? Pony Express sure didn't care about safety, that's for certain..

My thoughts are more on people making sure to remind you what Curly didn’t do to prevent it than the fuitity of the situations and the options he had.

I am in the camp that Curly could’ve done more, put Anya first and prioritized Jimmy less, but I feel like many people shape it more around malice on Curlys part to talk about how he isn’t a good person. It’s taking a character flaw and making it the character and it’s annoying to a degree. As you mentions there’s not the avenues or procedure for him or anyone to handle a delicate issue like this is. There aren’t the realistic avenues people can take without someone facing more harassment, harm or issues. It’s the irony that in thinking that Curly could’ve done more, you are giving him power he doesn’t have just like Jimmy did in his weird envious worship of Curly.

It’s erasing Jimmy’s culpability and sort of turning Curly into his handler which is exactly what Jimmy seems to do with him often, like yes, Curly enables Jimmy in many ways he shouldn’t but he also isn’t shielded from those exact behaviors. Curly can’t escape Jimmy in an adjacent way Anya can’t escape him (mentally, physically, emotionally). Their relationship is unhealthy on both parts but Curly is the one truly being victimized in it.

It’s such a good representation of how toxicity seeps and cycles between other even if trying to be good or just or help and it gets overshadowed by how one can be better despite the situation quite literally points out that there are points where it’s impossible.

i know everyone is praising ify for how he’s playing this season and i do think he is slaying but some of his moves kinda bother me😭😭😭i didn’t like how he took all the drug juice i feel like brennan obviously had a plan for how that was gonna work with persimmon dead AND everyone would’ve got a cool moment with the drugs but he kinda just took it :/ obviously it worked out and it did lead to that convo w liv and russell but idk i felt like jacob in that moment and i’m not even playing LMAO like i would rather have just seen what brennan was gonna do and got to see how everyone was gonna take it

the fact that starscream gave up so easily pisses me offffff

transformers one should have been, at the very least, 30 minutes longer. idk i would have LOVED to see d-16 win a fight that starscream didn’t purposefully give up. like, starscream—high ranking high guard member and an active resistance leader—lost a 20 second fist fight against someone who’s never experienced war—who literally started fighting THAT day.

maybe the first fight ended as a starscream win and within the 30 minutes (or longer) runtime, starscream and d-16 fought again after d-16 got some type of experience. the turn from d-16 to megatron and the high guard gaining respect/rallying behind megatron could have been fleshed out during the longer run time, too.

one thing I haven't seen anyone say about watcher yet, but has really disappointed me, is that only three months ago they mentioned in the truth about filming ghost files video that they had to let go of 5 (if I'm remembering the number properly) employees. and when I watched that video I was disappointed that hey hadn't planned the business properly to avoid things like that, but they are primarily creatives, so I figured there would be some business mistakes made along the way. but then hearing they just hired the 2 worth it guys and are reviving an expensive show... I feel like they could've prevented the lay offs better

I was thinking about how you said that Jake was probably the one who locked Spider’s hair and I haven’t stopped thinking about it. I’m no expert on…I don’t know what the appropriate term is, styles for coily hair? But if you look at Jake’s locks and Spider’s side by side, I feel like Jake’s look better maintained. Spider’s look much chunkier and messier, more scraggly. His hair is also very dull and non-reflective, so it doesn’t look very clean.

Obviously I’m in no way saying that people who have locs don’t wash or take care of their hair! This is an observation on Spider’s hair specifically, as it relates to him most likely being neglected by the Sully parents. I’ve seen a lot of hairdressers who say that heavily matted hair is one of the biggest signs of neglect. Again, matted hair and locs aren’t the same, but that was what came to mind when you said he probably locked Spider’s hair so it would be less maintenance.

If I’ve been insensitive or disrespectful in any way, please let me know as that wasn’t my intention!

I am also no expert on hair, especially protective and black hairstyles, so heed that warning, and feel free to call me out if I make a mistake/say something offensive.

I think this hits the nail on the head. I think that for jake, 'locking' (ill get back to the use of quotations in a second) spiders hair was 'easiest' because there was 'no up keep' unlike braids or just leaving it down and natural that would have to be somewhat frequently/frequently cleaned and/or restyled over time.

This is blatantly false, locs have their own maintenance needs, and they have a reasonable amount of regular upkeep to keep them looking, feeling, and physically healthy/clean.

But in jakes mind, a white man who was thrown into a world that uses protective hairstyles, like braids, quite frequently (I don't know much about na'vi hair or why it is styled as such, or if that information even exists, so I have to run a bit off of what I see), if he 'locked' (here comes the explanation of the quotations) spiders hair, it would basically be a one and done thing; when in reality, Spider didn't have hair that could lock, his hair was curly, but not in a way that would allow or even demand protective styles. So he basically just matted (even if his hairs are mats, they are meant resemble locs, and it feels insensitive/can come off as horribly disrespectful to call them that, so I'm going to continue using 'locks' within this post) the poor thing's hair, cause that's what happens when you attempt to lock white hair, and most likely did nothing after. Spider was also super young when his hair was locked like that and I have full confidence it's never actually been cleaned properly since.

While I think jake had vaguely good while also naively neglectful intentions, Spider was horribly neglected, and it most likely started with hair.

I think this is also just partially a consequence of James Cameron's habit of culturally appropriating bipoc cultures, in this case, black culture.

But at the same time, I do have to agree that there is an intentional little detail between Jake's and Spider's hair; Jake's looks like they are properly cared for, while spiders look like a trainwreck (dirty, outgrown, ill-managed, all of the possible things). In fact, all of the other kids' hair looks equally well-managed. This has a lot to do with the fact that their hair is seemingly styled in the proper way for their hair type, but also because they are being cared for, their parents are putting time and effort into their hair, at least until they're old enough to do it themselves. It's also clear that hair can be managed quite easily while left down/natural cause Neytiri used to wear her quite long hair down, Kiri has her hair down, and most of the Metkayina people wear at least some of their hair down. to put it simply, Spider's hair didn't have to be 'locked'; it could have been managed just like so many others, and even if, for some reason, it had to be 'locked' (even when there are so many other styles for him to have been given that would have been proper for his hair type) they didn't have to be left in such a state.

Overall, I think Spider's hair shows two things; the neglect he went through at the hands of his adoptive family, and James Cameron's need to appropriate other's cultures.

probably the flattest female character i've seen on screen in a long time, surpassing even florence pugh in oppenheimer..... did claire ever do anything other than look at carmy meaningfully? the only redeeming take i've seen on her character is that she's purposefully a shadow of a person because we almost only see her when interacting with carmy and it's meant to represent the surface-level idea he has of her. but even with that read, which i don't know whether it was intended or not, they dedicate way too much time to this absurdly boring budding romance when literally every single other character and storyline in the bear is so fucking interesting and raw and genuine... i think even on my first watch i ended up skipping through some of their makeout scenes cause WHO CARES! no chemistry no nothing! show me marcus please! wtf !

Hot take but as someone whose made bad life decisions by playing video games:

Genshin isn't bad. It's a solid gacha game all things considered. It's got good lore and some really nice designs.

It's just the Internet punching bag now because League has been shooting itself in the foot for the past two/three years. Since League has been dying rapidly since all the players have left it because it's become so hostile to any player not esports, the burden of "Hurr Durr Bad Game" has fallen to the next highly popular one--Genshin.

I play(ed) League too until again, they just ruined it for casuals. League also has a fantastic lore to it. Don't you holier than thou little shits go and say you loved Arcane and then call League lore garbage. It didn't come from nowhere.

Idk I'm just seeing a trend with how League was treated back in the day vs how Genshin is treated now and outside the playerbase, neither game is necessarily bad and its not a waste of time playing them.
