Don’t leave me behind | Yeon Si-eun x reader
Tumblr media
Summary: what if Y/n was the one that got hit by the truck instead of Si-eun?
Warnings: kind of angsty, comforting fluff
WC:1.7k
Notes: I think it is a little rushed, but I already got a better idea in mind, ill try to upload it as soon as I can
˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗
You and Yeon Si-eun have been friends for a little while now. You are Su-ho’s sister, always been close with him. Although you were only a year younger than them, Su-ho always tagged you along with Si-eun and Beom-seok.
You were shy around them at first but grew close to them, especially Si-eun. You could see right through him - he really needed a hug and someone that cares about him.
Su-ho would always tease Si-eun about you, telling him to not hurt you and always take care of you, even calling him brother in law to piss him off even further.
At first he hated the constant teasing, but soon realised maybe he did care a lot more about you than he should have.
At first it started with lingering stares that lasted a little too long, then studying sessions with him when you couldn’t understand certain subjects because Su-ho wouldn’t been much help.
He didn’t show it directly but he really did like helping you, quiet time together and you two being so close together when he explained the questions.
Sometimes when his dad wasn’t home you would cook him food as a thank you, inviting Su-ho from time to time.
And sometimes when he was focused on his own work he would suddenly hear your breathing change - you would fall asleep. At moments like these he would gently tuck you into his own bed, texting your brother you fell asleep and would be staying the night. He wouldn’t admit it to himself, but he would definitely crack a smile at the sight of you, peacefully sleeping in his bed.
You always felt bad when you would wake up in his comfy and warm bed while he slept on the couch.
You would always scold them for getting into fights, helping them with the wounds, cuts and bruises. You would always feel sorry for them. But never Beom-seok. As well as you could see right through Si-eun, you always had a gut feeling Beom-seok wasn’t as nice.
And after the incident, you broke. After you heard what happened to Su-ho you ran straight to the hospital.
You opened the door, tears already falling down your cheeks. Si-eun was already sitting there, you could see how broken he was.
He almost thought you were gonna be mad at him, for not coming to him in time. But how could you be mad at him?
He stood up, now fully facing you as you walked over to him, sobbing.
“Y/n” he said just above a whisper “I’m sorry” he felt his eyes watering, a hot tear streaming down his cheek.
You looked up at him, “Si-eun why are you sorry?” “None of this is your fault” you continued crying, suddenly feeling warm hands around you. “He’s going to be okay” he tried to reassure you, not even sure himself if his friend will really be okay.
You both stayed the night at the hospital, you falling asleep on Si-eun, staining his shirt with your tears. He woke up before you, slowly getting up and putting his blazer on you. Even with your eyes closed he could see how swollen and puffy they were from crying.
As he stood beside you, he gently brushed your hair out of your face with his delicate fingers, observing you. He always has been an observer.
˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗
And well after him beating up Woo-young and Beom-seok, he needed to move to Eunjang high school. In his mind he did that for Su-ho and you. You cried in his arms once again. And he let you.
Eunjang was further away from your current school, which is closer to Si-eun’s old one. But that didn’t stop you from visiting him as often as you could. Sometimes even taking a taxi to his home late at night when he couldn’t fall asleep.
The sleeping pills didn’t work, but you sleeping next to him did. You started seeing him more than a friend a while ago, but never saying anything since you didn’t want to ruin the friendship you had.
You could see that Si-eun was still having a hard time in school, getting into fights again. You would always patch him up, like you used to.
His mom didn’t mind having you around, she could see you had a good impact on her son. When Si-eun’s friends spotted you two together walking home, the teasing started all over again.
Si-eun never stopped blaming himself for what happened, but you always reassured him it was most certainly not his fault.
˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗
It was late already and you were heading home, worried about Si-eun. He told you what has been happening in school and it made you so anxious. You felt your phone buzz, picking it up.
“Hello, is this Y/n, Ahn Su-ho’s sister?” you were confused for a second. “Yes?” you answered, eager to get home faster so you could go check up on Si-eun.
“Im calling from Sungang University hospital, i couldn’t reach anyone else but you, your brother is in critical condition, is there anyone who could come right away?” You stood in the middle of the crosswalk, frozen.
You felt tears swelling up “..huh?” you said, still frozen in shock as you look up to a truck driving. Everything went black.
˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗
Si-eun got the heart wrenching phone call. You were in the hospital, Su-ho in critical condition. He dropped everything he was doing, not waisting any time, running as fast as his legs could go. He couldn’t lose you as well. He wouldn’t ever forgive himself.
As he stepped into your room, machines connected to your body, he was fuming with anger. Angry with himself, if he was there, with you this wouldn’t have happened.
He checked up on you and Su-ho, and finding out Su-ho was doing better he went back to your room. He stayed there by your side till morning, falling asleep to the beeping sounds.
You were moved to another room in the morning, only an oxygen mask and a heart monitor connected now. Hu-min, Hyun-tak, Jun-tae as well as your grandmother came in to check on you during the day. Si-eun needed to go back to deal with Beak-jin but he couldn’t bring himself to leave you like this.
The sun started to go down and he was still worried as ever. His eyes were on you, all day and night.
He was now alone with his thoughts, thinking about all the times you were there for him. He couldn’t thank you enough for that. He felt guilty for putting you through so much worry, you always checking up on him, always coming over to cheer him up the best you could.
He felt you shift on the bed, hand reaching for the mask on your face, trying to take it off. Your eyes landed on Si-eun, not even thinking you started smiling to yourself, he really cares about you, doesn’t he? He stood up.
Suddenly your smile dropped as a sat up, stinging pain appearing in your head. You whined at the pain. “Y/n, lay down” he said, but you didn’t move. “Is he okay..?” you asked with furred eyebrows, eyes looking at Si-eun with concern. “He’s okay now, don’t worry” he somewhat smiled at you.
You loved it when he smiled at you, it showed how he cared about you. And right now he looked so cute with messy hair, standing and looking at you.
But suddenly you can see tears prickling at the corner of his eyes as he watched you. “huh, Si-eun is everything okay?” you asked. “Y/n I can’t lose you, not after what happened to Su-ho” he sat down, looking at your expression.
You didn’t want him to worry about you, he already worried about enough things, you couldn’t make it even harder for him than it already is.
“Si-eun” you spoke, throat dry. “Hm?” he replied, raising and eyebrow. “Come here” you said, moving more to the edge so there was somewhat space in this small bed.
He stood there for a second. “I said come here, please?” you asked. He slowly got in bed with you, looking at your delicate face. “Si-eun I’m fine, nothing will happen to me” you explained, knowing he probably was blaming himself for what happened to you.
Your faces so close you could hear his light breathing. You reached your hand to his face, brushing his bangs from his eyes. “Si-eun did you know how pretty you are” you say, barely awake, whole body aching, your hand going back to your side.
He stiffened in shock, not knowing what to do, he never really knew what to say in situations like these. He didn’t know what to say, but he knew what to do. His hand was on your cheek, caressing it, slowly bringing his face to yours, just millimetres away.
Your heart was beating now faster, the beeping on the screen going faster, making you a bit embarrassed. He closed the gap, his chapped lips coming in contact with yours.
You both broke the kiss, him surprised at his actions. You smiled at him, bringing him closer, hugging him and resting your head on his chest. “Can you please stay with me for tonight?” you asked, now eyes closed.
He relaxed a bit, not replying. “Y/n..” he said, looking up at the ceiling, bringing his hand over your torso, hugging you lightly. “Hm?” you hummed, listening to his heart beat.
“I think.. I think I’m in love with you” he said, cracking the smallest smile, you couldn’t see it, but you could tell by the way he said it.
You stiffened up, but relaxing seconds later, hugging him harder. “I love you too, Si-eun” you replied, almost in a whisper. “Please never scare me like this again” he asked, closing his eyes and bringing you even closer to him, hugging you harder, like he never wanted to let go and protect you from all the horrors in this world.

found an island in your arms || Eun Hyuk x Reader
Tumblr media
word count: 1.4k
warnings & tags: angst, eun hyuk deserves a hug and he gets one, eun hyuk is a little controlling towards the reader
previous one-shot
A/N: my entry for day two of @neohumanmonster's Turning a New Leaft event! Prompt: Change in Nature. While this is in relation with yesterday's entry, there is no need to have read it to understand this one, it just provides a little more context.
Tumblr media
Eun Hyuk is more tense lately, more irritable. Everyone can feel it, though most people chalk it up to the dwindling rations and the growing fear that the army simply isn’t coming to save you. You can tell that Eun Yu doesn’t believe in that, though, and neither do you.
Eun Yu doesn’t seem to have an actual explanation for her brother’s out of character behavior. She pokes and probes and throws out cutting remarks to see what sticks, but she doesn’t seem all that worried either.
“He does that sometimes,” she answers you bluntly when you ask if she thinks Eun Hyuk is doing alright. “There’s probably something he wants to fix. I’m sure he’ll get there. He just needs a little push.”
That doesn’t satisfy you. You don’t like to sit idle while people are in pain, don’t like to sit idle at all, actually, even if someone is hammering that you’re doing it ‘for the greater good”. But the thing is, you and Eun Hyuk… don’t get along that well. You clashed a bunch in the beginning, before you were outvoted by the people who thought Eun Hyuk would bring them safety, at least. It was a short-term solution, what he was offering, you’d argued — to which he had replied that yours was a death sentence.
You still admired him. The decisions he had to make on a daily basis couldn’t be easy ones to make, nor were the sacrifices. Of course, you still often believed he chose wrong, but you had to admit that he had kept most of the group alive until now, and considering the circumstances, that was truly impressive.
You just wish that he would let you do more. Instead, he’s constantly getting in your way, particularly when it comes to helping the infected. ‘Your abilities could help the whole group’, he’d say. ‘We can’t afford to lose them because you trusted someone you shouldn’t have.’ It drove you insane, how easily he’d interfere, always with these pseudo rational arguments that you never really bought were genuine ones.
It felt as if they were just for show, and as such you never felt all that guilty for going against his orders.
You weren’t dumb. You wouldn’t put others in danger unless they were willing to risk themselves for something. But you also refused to let others get hurt through your own inaction. So if you had to sneak around to see Hyun-Su’s in order to treat his wounds and bring him food, then you’d do as you damn pleased, and neither Eun Hyuk nor anyone else had any say in that. It was your life, and it was your decision.
Still, you can’t say you’re thrilled when you find Eun Hyuk waiting for you when you exit Hyun-Su’s so-called room. He’s leaning against the wall, hands in his pockets, and he gives you an annoyed look when you come out.
“What did I tell you?” he asks you coldly.
You grimace. The two of you are almost the same age, and you hate that patronizing tone he insists on taking with you.
“Hyun-Su needed help,” you say. “There is a limit to what even you can ask of me.”
He’s silent for a while. You notice him clenching his fists, and something unusually dark passes in his eyes. His jaw tenses, a vein bulges on his forehead. You think you’ve done it now, that you’re going to get an earful — even if you still don’t quite understand why. There’s simply no reason for him to care that much, and the lack of control is blatantly unlike him.
You’d run into him often, before this whole— thing— started. He was always quiet but sweet, would smile politely when you got in the elevator, maybe exchange niceties with you when you met in the lobby. He’d leave early and come home late, with the look of someone who hadn’t taken a breather all day, but it never appeared to have any effect on his temper.
That’s what’s throwing you off right now. How angry he seems to be.
After what feels like an eternity, he exhales, relaxes his hand.
“I guess you’re right,” he says, but his voice sounds too even now, like it’s forced. “I can’t force you to do anything. I just wish you’d consider that—” He cuts himself off the second his voice becomes strained again, looks away from you.
None of that is normal for him.
“Eun Hyuk,” you say, taking a step towards him. “Is there something wrong?”
He stares in your eyes for a second, and for that second, you think that maybe he’ll give you an honest answer.
“Everything is wrong,” he says in the end, and again, you know it’s nothing more than a half-truth. Then again, you can’t blame him for not telling you. “Can you even remember the last time thing went right for us?”
It’s not that he’s lying, it’s just that you know he’s not being genuine, and so you don’t bother continuing that line of discussion. It unnerves the other residents when you drop a conversation that is clearly going nowhere, makes them think you’re avoidant, but you think Eun Hyuk understands it. Close enough, anyway.
“You should still tell someone,” you tell him.
“I— What?”
“I get why you wouldn’t want to tell me,” you say with a shrug. “I still think you should tell your sister. Or Jae-Heon, I guess, if you’re more comfortable with that, but I get why it can’t be me.” You take a step towards him, put a hand on his shoulder. You do it slowly, as if you were trying not to spook a skittish cat. Eun Hyuk glances down at your hand, but makes no movement to get rid of it. “I’m here if you need me.”
He scoffs, looks away from you, pushes his glasses higher on his nose. But you don’t let go, and he doesn’t actually move away from you.
“I mean it,” you say softly. “If you want to talk, or if there’s any other way to help you. Just let me know.”
He closes his eyes. You wait for it to sink in, then take your hand off, hoping you haven’t pushed a boundary already. As you break contact with him, though, he grabs your wrist without warning, and pulls you into him. Your chest collides with him as he wraps both arms around and his chin comes rest on your shoulder.
You’re surprised by how strong his embrace is, how he clearly doesn’t want to let go.
“Eun Hyuk?” you squeak.
“Just— Just give me a second,” he says, voice so low you barely hear it. “Please. Just let me have that.”
You feel your heart almost breaking at the desperate plea. Slowly, you close your arms around him, start rubbing his back. You’re not sure what’s happening, not completely, but you know he’s warm against you, and you know you need that contact, too.
Seconds go by, until he takes a step back, clearing his throat. He refuses to meet your eyes, but you don’t miss that his cheekbones are dusted pink now.
“Sorry, I—” Then he lets out a long exhale, and appears to get himself back under control. “You offered.”
You’re not fooled in any way by that, but you still nod.
“And the offer still stands. If you need any help, you know where to find me.”
Another long exhale.
“You— Why— Why would you—”
“Because you need help,” you answer. “You’re the one who’s looking after everyone, and I want to make sure there’s someone looking after you, too.” Eun Yu does, sure, but Eun Yu’s a kid, and that’s a lot of responsibility to put on her shoulders.
“Thank you,” Eun Hyuk mumbles, still not looking at you. “I’ll keep that in mind.”
Then he gives you a vague nod and leaves the hallway without once looking back.
Your eyes follow him, worried. You’re afraid he’s reaching his breaking point. This situation is revealing things about people, about yourself, too, even if you don’t like looking at it. Clearly, it’s changing you.
You can only hope that Eun Hyuk will withstand that change — and be by his side for as long as he needs you to.
Tumblr media

The adrenaline still rushes through your veins as you step off the mat, your heart pounding while the crowd’s cheers slowly fade. You just did what no one thought possible: you beat Kwon, the beast from Kim Da-Eun’s dojo. And not only did you beat him… you humiliated him.
"Good fight," you say, breathing heavily, sweat trailing down your neck as you extend your hand.
Kwon looks at you. His lips are slightly parted, one brow raised, and that crooked smirk he always uses to get under your skin. But this time, he says nothing. He just takes your hand, grips it tightly more than necessary. And he doesn’t let go.
"I didn’t know you liked to dominate like that," he murmurs, his voice low enough that only you can hear.
Your eyes narrow.
"Excuse me?"
"You know what I mean."
His tone tickles down your spine. He’s pissed, clearly. But there’s something else. His pupils are blown, his jaw tense. And then you see it—he’s not just angry. He’s turned on. The fact that you beat him has him hot as hell.
"I didn’t know losing turned you on, Kwon," you reply with a smug smile, hiding the heat rising in your chest.
"Depends who’s making me lose," he says, stepping closer, his hand still gripping yours.
Your breathing mingles. Too close. Too intense.
And then, without warning, he yanks you toward him.
It all happens fast. The room behind the mat is dark and empty. He presses you against the wall with his body—not hard, but urgently. His mouth finds yours like he’s been waiting for it all season. Your hands tangle in his hair, yanking it with frustration, while his grip on your hips is desperate, like he can’t decide whether to worship you or ruin you.
"I can’t believe you beat me," he growls against your mouth, kissing you like he’s trying to reclaim control.
"And that’s why you’re kissing me?" you gasp, your legs already wrapping around him without thinking.
"No. I’m kissing you because you’re driving me crazy," he whispers. "Always so damn perfect. Always just out of reach."
You laugh, because you know that’s anything but true. You’ve been wanting this for weeks. Every training session thinking about how to take him down. Every argument, every push, every fire-filled stare. It was never hate. Never.
It was desire, sharp and pent-up like a blade.
Your lips slide down his jaw, your hands moving over his chest, feeling every trembling muscle under your fingertips. Kwon groans low, a sound that sends a shiver through you.
"Don’t tell me you never pictured it," he says, pressing his knee boldly between your legs.
"Pictured what?"
"This. You on top. Winning. And then… this."
You bite your lip, suppressing a moan. You hate how well he reads you without really knowing you.
"Just because I won doesn’t mean I belong to you."
"Of course not," he whispers, lips grazing your neck. "But admit it… you like having me like this. Surrendered."
A shiver runs through you as his mouth finds your collarbone, and his hand slips under your clothes. The air grows thick, heavy with want. You can’t think anymore. Only feel.
"Close the damn door," you whisper, voice low with lust.
Kwon smirks arrogantly and obeys. The second it clicks shut, he crashes into you again with a kiss that knocks the breath from your lungs. Your uniform falls to the floor, piece by piece, until there’s nothing left between you but skin, sweat, and the tension that had been building since the first damn match.
Your nails rake down his back as he thrusts into you with a restrained groan. It’s rough. Passionate. No room for slow play. His hips move with a desperate rhythm, like he needs to prove something. Like losing to you only counts if he can make you scream his name after.
And he does.
More than once.
You cling to him, legs shaking, body trembling with every thrust, every filthy word he breathes into your ear. You hate how good it feels. How winning has become an addiction.
"Kwon..." you moan, nails digging into his shoulder blades.
He responds with a primal grunt, gripping your hair tightly.
"I knew you’d be incredible," he murmurs, voice broken.
His words undo you, and in a moment you’re coming undone in his arms. The world blurs, sounds fade, and all that’s left is the frantic beat of your heart and the sweat of his forehead pressed against yours.
When you finally catch your breath, you look at him with a mix of victory and defiance.
He collapses against you, both of you breathless, and you both know things won’t ever be the same.
Kwon rests his forehead on your shoulder, still inside you, and lets out a soft laugh
"I want a rematch," he says, out of breath.
You smile, threading your fingers through his hair.
"On the mat or...?"
"Both. But I’ll warn you…"
"What?"
"Next time, I’m making you surrender first."

Aouad Headcanons .ᐟ
Tumblr media
꒰ CONTENTS ꒱ ; aouad characters having a crush on you !
NOTICE ༘ this is one of my first time writing anything at all, so if this is corny or bad in anyway, I’m so sorry.
INCLUDES ⊱ Cheol-soo, Gyeong-su, Su-hyeok, Joon-yeong, Woo-jin.
Tumblr media
CHEOL SOO
- I feel like with him, he’d make it so obvious. Even if he doesn’t mean to.
- he’d ask his friends (just Eun-ji) what you did in class, stuff like “did y/n talk to anyone??” “What did y/n do in class?”
- Eun-ji’s put up with various talks about how your “so attractive and smart” and how your “kind and popular”.
- he seems like the type to feed random stray animals, he’ll ramble about you to like any street cat or dog.
- anytime he sees you he smiles, though his face quickly contorts back to a frown once you make eye contact for some reason. It’s like his weird reflex.
- whenever your around him, he feels all sweaty, he gets so worked up over it he turns fully red.
- if he ever were to find out if you did like him back, he’d only be more awkward. Something as small as bumping into you would make him apologize five times over because he’s scared you’ll hate him afterwords.
—————-
Tumblr media
HAN GYEONG-SU
- he thinks your extremely attractive. Anytime he sees you passing by him in the halls, he’ll immediately tell Cheong-san about it.
- is the type to change his whole walking routine to class just to see you.
- he’s told Cheong-sans mom about you already, he likes talking about you while eating at their restaurant, he’s a complete yapper. Sometimes, Cheong-san’s mom is almost surprised he’s not done with his fifth plate since he’s been talking about you for so long he’s forgotten to eat.
- he gets confident enough to make a move on you first, though, he gets rejected almost immediately. “Hey, I think you’re really pretty, do you wanna go out sometime?” And you, fully believing he was joking, said no.
- he looks absolutely mortified at this, especially since his friends had been hyping him up five seconds ago.
- he gets repetitive with it, maybe he asked you on a bad day, right? So he asks again, and during this time, you finally realize it wasn’t a joke, and you say yes.
- during your guys’ small date, he’s barley able to contain his excitement. Poor boy can’t even pay attention to what you’re saying with how much he’s admiring you.
——————
Tumblr media
LEE SU-HYEOK
- because he likes you, he tries to impress you anyway he can. He’ll be laughing about something immature with his friends one second, the minute you walk by he’s leaning against a wall or something trying to seem nonchalant.
- whenever your names brought up, he’s invested in the conversation immediately. “Oh y/n?? Yeah, they’re cool.”
- if he follows you on any socials, and you post a picture of yourself, he’ll screenshot it and send it to his friends just to mope about how your too attractive for him, and how he wants you to be his.
- one time, someone brought up that you like guys who are smart, the second he got home he posted a photo on his instagram about him ‘studying’ (no studying got done) just so you would see his story
- sometimes, you’ll accidentally like his story, once he gets the notification, he’s all cheerful and happy, but when he goes to show his friends the next day and realizes you unliked it, he’s the saddest he’s ever been.
- he’s not one to post himself on instagram, but he’ll do it when he sees your active, he mostly only makes moves online, he’s too scared to actually talk to you at all in real life.
- when he finally does get the courage to talk to you, it’s probably about some “do you understand this?” In class, and he’s so excited you actually replied back that he’ll talk about it the rest of the week.
—————
Tumblr media
OH JOON-YEONG
- he likes you because your both attractive and smart, he admires it a lot.
- he shows off to his friends when your around. If you guys had a recent exam, and your around, he’ll brag about how he got a high score.
- dae-su and woo-jin quickly catch onto his crush, they’ll both try to put him on with you.
- dae-su likes pushing him towards you when you’re walking by him in the halls, and woo-jin likes screaming, ‘my friend thinks your cute’.
- he has to ask woo-jin very VERY politely for your instagram, he’ll try texting you by pretending to like what you do, and he tries to mix up a nonchalant tone in it.
- he gets flustered when someone in his friend group mentions your name and everyone turns to look at him.
- when he finds out you like him, he’s overwhelmed with joy, every time he walks by you in the halls, he waves at you, sometimes he even likes walking with you to class if you have the same teacher.
Tumblr media
JANG WOO-JIN
- when he has a crush on you, he’s very nonchalant about it, he’s fine with texting you, and sometimes he’s confident enough to give you a compliment when you post a photo of yourself.
- he’s so confident with himself, one day, he asks you to hang out with him, only for his confidence to immediately be thrown out the window once he sees your friends laughing, which he thinks is at him. (Your friends are laughing because your face is red when he asks you to hang out.)
- after a while though, he gets tired of being afraid to talk to you, so he eventually starts hanging out with you at school, he’s pretty chill with your friends, who know about his crush on you and your crush on him.
- he’s not really an artsy person, but he’ll do some crafts and then give the final product to you, explaining how he just made it randomly but didn’t like it (he spent five hours on it and had to make it perfect to give to you.)
- while walking past you in the halls, his friends will give him weird looks, saying ‘look who it is’ or screaming stuff like ‘Woo-jin is that your girlfriend??’ To tease him even if you guys aren’t dating (yet).
- every saturday he plays roblox horror games with you
- absolute d1 yapper, if you’ll give him the time of day, he’ll just say what’s on his mind. He really likes how you listen to him, he can tell you’re actually listening and invested in what he has to say, not trying get him to shut his mouth.
—————

“You’re funny!”
He’s heard it countless times. And he truly was. Truly, he was a delight to be around. He reveled in the laughter and amusement of others. Your image of him was no different from everyone else’s. You’ve always thought he was funny. But somehow he’s never made you laugh. Well, all he’s ever done is bring your self-doubts to afloat, and served a great part in creating this big barricade in your academic life that you’ve been trying to get through for over a year now.
“You still like that guy? For real?” you breathe out a chuckle to your friend’s query, in harmony with the sounds of the keyboard’s clicks as you make yourself busy.
“Yes, Natty.” your voice was soft as you replied and as you did you felt Natty’s hand landing calmly on your shoulder.
“Ever thought of confessing?” —I have, I do all the time— you say to yourself. “I mean, who knows, he might like you too.”
You almost guffawed, but Natty would only lay her head on your shoulder and she’d snap her head up at you when you answered, “On another universe, maybe. I don’t exist in his little theater show.”
“What a way to refer to someone’s blooming social life.” you darted your eyes at Natty’s poking, turning the both of you into a bundle of laughter.
If only he could hear the melody that sounded from your lips. “Why’d you say it like I don’t have a social life?”
“Miss Y/n, I did not say that at all. You’re delusional!” your friend gave you a light push, your arms crossing on top of one another on your chest.
“I am not delusional!” you kept the kid in your tone whilst appearing offended.
In fact, you truly weren’t. While as a youngin you’d hope every coincidence bore meanings, you grew up to face reality, though not accepting it entirely. A part of you hoped there was a small spark that went off every time you met his gaze, that he was just as withdrawn with you as you were with him because he was shy, that he only pretended to not care about you because he liked you too. But a view of him from afar —how his life was a movie in itself— told you you’d be nothing more but a mere extra in the extravagance of his daily proceedings.
So when prom came around, while everyone else scurried around to find their dates, you just stood still —more accurately, sat and waited for anything interesting to happen in your life— and watched the pretty girls being picked out by men of all kinds like flowers on a nice green field. You just hated that by the end of prom night, this nice field of tamed green grass will turn into a rowdy, muddy mess stepped on by those men —if you could even call them that. The view wasn’t as sweet to you like how everyone else saw it, but perhaps it was because you were bitter.
“Aren’t you excited for prom night? I heard Jacob will DJ this year, I bet it’s gonna be awesome.” you shrugged at your friend, unsure if you were even gonna go to prom.
“I bet you’ll have loads of fun.” your friend was quick to pick up on your masked expression, much to your surprise.
“Hmm, is this about…” he looks you right in the eyes,“Bingo! code Eun—”
“Shh!” you bit your lip after shushing him, containing the laugh that threatened to escape from you. “Keep it down!”
“Oh, sorry.” a jesting evil chuckle was evoked from him making your face scrunch up. He laughs at you and motions like he’s about to pinch your face. “But, hear me out. Why don’t you ask him out?”
You sighed as an array of reasons popped up in your head. “Even if I had the courage to do that did you really think he’d say yes? To me?” your friend snorted at your tone, and again, looks you right in the eyes.
“Why not?” you raised your brows as a way of asking him if he was being serious, “Look, just being for real here, you’re pretty enough to overthrow those ‘popular girls’, your cute, your talented, your actually interesting —I mean what’s there not to like?”
You gave yourself a second to think and your eyes followed the lines separating each tile on the floor, and from the distance you saw him. You were in the cafeteria, and for some reason not with Natty. Some guy named Eric had asked her to meet him in some classroom, you’ve heard from some of his friends that he was asking Natty out to prom and planned a surprise. Meanwhile your dream date was sat five tables away from where you were. Laughter filled the table he and his friends occupied. He must be so funny then.
“Y/n?” Your friend’s voice was all it took for you to avert your eyes from Eunseok. “It’s kinda rude to just stare at your crush and daydream mid conversation, just so you know.”
You can’t help but laugh, at your friend’s jovial banter and at yourself for being so pathetic. “Sorry, Sho.”
“I was kidding, it’s totally fine Miss scared-of-confrontations.” you playfully rolled your eyes at him.
“I’m not scared of confrontations.” but his words took you a step back and you thought maybe you truly were scared of confrontations.
“Yeah? prove it! prove it! prove it!” and he kept repeating it like a kid and you had to shush him again. “Ask him out!”
“Shotaro, I've never wanted to punch someone this bad in my life before, just stop.” and he just laughs at you again. You look to your side, and coincidentally right into his eyes. It would’ve been the highlight for your day, the best day of your week —your life even— if not for the flowers he held in his hand. And no, they weren’t for you. You thought they could never be for you. He held them in his hands whilst he wore that grin that drew everybody in his presence. You looked away, not wanting to see the events waiting to unfold before you.
“Let’s go, Sho.” you took hold of Shotaro’s wrist, dragging him out of the cafeteria with you. Once you were out of the bustling atmosphere, you started sprinting, still not letting go of your friend.
“Where are we going?” and then suddenly you stopped.
You could see Natty holding hands with Eric from the other end of the hallway, and some of Eric’s friends tagging along from behind.
“Oh, so that’s where Natty’s been. No wonder.” you hear Shotaro utter quietly from behind you.
“Yeah. No wonder.” your lips spread to a small smile, seeing how happy Natty actually is. You just hope Eric isn’t just another guy.
“Hey, Y/n, why’d you pull me out of the cafeteria? I was trying to skin the fried tofu with my tee—”
“Sorry, I just didn’t want to see it —them, I mean.” your friend just stared at you, confused, and it showed on his face. A soft, but bitter laugh came out of your mouth. You figured Shotaro might’ve not seen what you saw, or maybe he didn’t care. “‘You-know-who’ was gonna ask some lucky girl to prom.”
“Really? Lucky?” he promptly shakes his head, and now you’re confused. “I don’t even know why I asked —anyways, I saw Mr.’Funny-Guy’ holding a bouquet. You know, for a second I thought you became Flash and just gave him those and asked him out to prom at ten times speed.” you laugh, and in all honesty just wanting to look past everything you saw, and everything that might’ve or did happen after the two of you ran off.
“Yeah. Very lucky.” Shotaro shook his head again, keeping his eyes on the smile that he could recognize from all the times you have found yourself on a disappointing stand.
“I’m sorry to say this, but, Eunseok isn’t all that. You can have fun without him. You have Natty —or maybe not her because she’s probably gonna spend time with that guy— me! you have me! and Minji, though I’ve heard someone had asked her out, that's probably why she’s not around right now…”
With pursed lips and crossed arms, you searched for the sense in his words, and when you had found it he was already looking back at you. Tilting your head to the side, you hum, a nod following shortly after. Shotaro was once again confused.
“Shotaro, how do you feel about going to prom with me?” you almost guffawed when he shrugged.
“Well, my plan was to just stick by you the whole night so we could have fun, so, technically…” he was suddenly stuck. “We’re best friends and all…”
“Yeah, but like, I’m actually asking you to be my date. Since we’re best friends and all.” you mimicked the tone that displaced his playful one when he spoke earlier. He scrunches his nose at you as some sort of counter-attack.
“Okay. That’s great.” he mirrors your pose and crosses his arms as well, and you both tilt your head at the same time —and it was soon followed by laughter.
Osaki Shotaro is probably the third funniest person I know, or, should he be second? —you jot down on your notes app. You now lay on your bed, just a few nights away from prom. Your notes app became a little get away for you as it was easier to type than to write things down. You swear that the world will burn once someone has seen the things you’ve very diligently typed in the app. It was your safe space, locked away from everyone. Even from Natty. Even from Shotaro. I wonder what I should wear. I wonder what he’s gonna wear, what his date would wear. She for sure said yes. Who wouldn’t? I would, a hundred percent. I’m gonna have to make sure we don’t wear the same dress, not even the same color. What’s a rare color? —your thoughts were a river with no end. It just flowed, especially when you lay alone in your room paying mind to nothing with being in such a secluded and quiet place. You were there, the cold air against your exposed skin, but you would feel nothing of it. You were deep within the depths of your perception. You itched to know. Who was the girl? —and if you were being honest, you missed any signs of him being infatuated with someone else. Who am I kidding? It couldn’t be me.
For the days that followed, you kept your mind on what to wear. Of course, not without crossing paths with Song Eunseok. He seemed his usual self —if not happier. You refuse to see it that way, to accept that whoever she might be, she’s making him twice the smiley guy he is. You’d reunite with Natty and Minji eventually. They asked if you were attending prom night because they’ve heard of the news. It had seemed as if everyone saw it coming. Maybe they are a match. Maybe they just look that good together. Maybe they’re made for each other.
“Maybe he just asked out a friend, you know, for a friendly date of sorts. Like you and Taro!” as sweet as Natty could be, you just truly wanted to avoid conversations regarding you-know-who. You’d just smile, not sparing her a look.
It was your way of telling people to stop talking about something that upset you, and Shotaro noticed right away even though you were late to catch up on your sides pressed against each other when he scoots closer. “Natty’s right.” he was regretful of that reply, so he’d quickly avert from the topic of you-know-who. “By the way Y/n, what are you gonna wear? the color and stuff, we can match.” your head snaps up, being reminded you should’ve been getting ideas for your outfit instead of being dazed over a boy that has never even bothered to acknowledge your presence.
“I don’t know yet. I don’t have ideas right now. Do you?” you finally look over to Shotaro, and for a second you’d jolt seeing the tip of your nose and his only a little over an inch from touching.
He backed away almost instantly with a swift reply of, “I don’t have any either. I mean, it’d be fine by me to take charge if we didn’t have to follow an attire.”
Smack. Timely, you both gasped hearing such a loud sound coming from one of your friend —Minji, who was looking a little more enthusiastic than usual. “I have an idea. Let’s all shop together. Natty and I can work on both of you.”
Natty’s beam infected you when you looked over at her because you knew they got your backs. And that was one thing off your checklist of worries. Only a few hundred more to tick.
“My mom said she wanted to help you get ready for prom night.” —and with a few flips of a textbook you were already off and walking back home with Shotaro, like usual.
“Really? I mean, I suppose it’d be easier if I was there, then you wouldn’t have to pick me up.” you reply with a slight pout, giving his offer —or rather his mother’s— serious consideration.
“I mean, it could be that or you join us for dinner tonight. I kind of figured Auntie would prefer it if she was the one who helped you, you’re her daughter after all, aren’t you?” your hand came to catch the laughter from your lips as he spoke. A laugh, and a sneeze, to which Shotaro responds with, “Ew.”
“Don’t ‘ew’ me!” his giggles slid through your ears, filling it up with his sweet melody. “Ew.” and of course you had to bite back.
“What? 'ew' what?” and he kept giggling.
You could only chuckle to yourself, biting down on your bottom lip. “Nothing” you breathe out.
It couldn’t be just nothing. Or at least he hoped. And so like every rational and mature man, he snatched the hairpin that held your poorly cut bangs from your face and ran. He was lucky it sled off easily. You chased him whilst calling out for his name, threatening him with actions you would never do. You could never. All while he giggled to himself like a little boy.

Everyone tends to only consider what’s on the surface of the water, unknowing of the storm that lies underneath the seas.
“What about Shotaro?” “Forget him.”
No apparent aggression, but betrayal could be sensed with the constant fall of his intonation as he continued to speak, “He chose her over us.” and his breath falls along with his hands that got done with smoothing out the wrinkles on his uniform.
“I mean, you would too. Isn’t that why you two got into a fight?” he shrugged at his friend.
And then laughed.
“What’s so funny?” The friend had furrowed eyebrows as he inspected the demeanor of the man before him.
“He’s talking to her everyday now. Me on the other hand?” he looks to his left, the body-length mirror of his room. “I’m so close, yet so far. I don’t even think I amuse her.”
“Why not? you’re Song Eunseok, the funny —and insanely hot guy, come on now.”
“Yeah. That’s the problem. Funny, insanely… hot?”
The two laughed in chorus.
“What’s the point of being so admired by so many people if the one I’ve been admiring doesn’t even give a flying fuck?” Eunseok shook his head as he spoke, facing his mirror and checking his reflection. “If anything she probably hates —no, not hate, but she doesn’t like me. For sure.” he straightens the collar of his shirt.
“The popular guy stigma.” he laughs at his friend’s sigh, and he replies,
“It’s true for some people. I could see why she might think I’m like them.” he smiled but his movements would be a complete contrast to it as he kept fixing nothing and dusting off nothing on his uniform. “Say we weren’t friends, and you’re a transferee, how would you see me?” he turns around to face his friend who was flummoxed with his sudden question.
“Well, I’m an extrovert myself, so I’d probably ask you to hang out first and foremost. You’re fine as hell, you’re quite the character.” Eunseok’s eyes traveled to the ground after hearing his friend’s response. He couldn’t quite tell if it was genuine or was just a guise to amuse him. This friend was not like the ones he once had in his life. Not like Shotaro. Not like you.
“Character?” Eunseok chuckled to himself. “I wonder if this… character was why we grew apart.”
“You and Shotaro?”
“Yes, and no.” Eunseok’s heavy sigh almost startled the other boy. “I’m talking about the girl.” a silent ‘oh’ was exuded from the boy’s mouth as he watched the other who moved to take a seat next to him. “I don’t get how moving schools cut our ties. Shotaro and I were still friends after I moved. I mean, we were neighbors. But still. Did she really not care about me?”
“Probably. Girls do that, don’t they?” Eunseok laughed again, with knitted brows this time.
“No. We’ll never know.” he says, running his tongue over his top lip before he continued, “We’re a bunch of dicks. How would we know?”
And they guffawed.
“Just ask her out to prom. Before Shotaro does.” Eunseok nods at his friend. “I bet you fifty bucks you can get her to say yes empty handed.”
“Dude, it’s not in me to not give her anything.”
[Present Day]
If I can make you laugh, you’re going to prom with me.
It would’ve been raining diamonds if he was able to carry out his plan. He would make her laugh then she’s all his for prom night, and hopefully for the days that follow.
But now he stood —oddly quiet— with his friends in a corner shop near school buying whatever shit they had to buy. “Hey nice guy! What's up? Is your mouth glued shut? stapled?”
One of his friends had laid their arm over his shoulders, tightening his hold when Eunseok didn’t answer immediately. “I’m fine. I think the store ran out of condoms.” the other snorts at his answer, a poor attempt at a joke.
“Do virgins eat condoms?” a loud ‘tsk’ would follow after, “If you’re getting fucked it’s by something up there in your cranium. Tell me.”
Eunseok sighed as he mustered up the guts to tell. “I didn’t get the girl.”
Surprised, and quite perplexed, his friend removed his arm from him to look him in the eyes saying, “What do you mean? I thought Gaeul said yes?”
“It was never Gaeul.”
“Then who?”
“You.” Eunseok grabs his friend's face, pretending to pull him in for a kiss. His friend —like every straight man— would counteract his actions.
“Ew dude, I’m not fucking gay, for the last time!”
“It’s always been you.”
Eunseok would let go of his friend hearing another one of their friends approaching as she laughed. “Hi nice guy!”
“And hi to you too, Miss Korea.” the girl giggles at Eunseok’s reply.
“Is it true? You and Heeseung have been sleeping together?” Eunseok smirked, hearing the girl’s jesting.
“What?” Before Heeseung could speak again, Eunseok butts in with a quip.
“Oh, yes! But he hides it, he must be ashamed of me —ashamed of loving me!” dramatic, and exaggerated, still it was one for the titters.
“I hate you, Yuna. Have a nice fucking day.” and Heeseung walks out whilst the two continue laughing amongst themselves.
The cackles died down once the two were left alone as their friends continued to roam the shop.
“Hey, not to be nosy or anything, but did you seriously not mean to ask Gaeul? sorry I just heard —I promise I wasn’t actively listening in.” Yuna even waved her hands in front of her face to dismiss any misinterpretations.
And with a small smile, Eunseok breathes in to reply to her. “It’s okay. We weren’t exactly being discreet about it at all.” his eyes shifted along the shelves that sandwiched the two of them. “But yeah. I asked Gaeul because, I don’t know, why not?”
Yuna nods at a broken pace for a couple of seconds as she tries to understand, getting caught up in some holes as she went through what he told her one more time before asking, “So, then, who were you meant to ask?”
“Doesn’t matter. She’s got a date already anyways. I got a date, she got a date, you got a date, everyone gets a date. It’s gonna be fun.” he displays a wide smile, but it was almost robotic in a way that made Yuna huff trying to get over how ridiculous he looked at the moment. “Do you mind me asking about your date Miss Korea?”
“Well, I was hoping this guy would ask me. But I don’t think he had me in mind at all. But yeah, I’m going with Sungchan, you're going with Gaeul, we all have dates. Let’s be happy.” Eunseok chuckled at the way her voice imitated his in some way.
“Yeah. Let’s be happy.”

It’s been an hour or two of Natty and Minji flitting around the boutique to find you and Shotaro some nice outfits for prom night. The theme? “Retro romance.”
“It’s fun but I feel like there could be better themes. There’d be dozens of polkadot skirts, I can already see it.” Natty mumbles in between picking out a few dresses for you to try on. She holds out a shirt dress, yellow with hints of white in a gingham pattern. “This is pretty retro, right? we could pair it with a belt and a skimmer hat with a purple ribbon.” Natty scans the piece of clothing, moving closer to you and holding it out next to your figure.
Your head snaps instantly when you hear an utterance next to you, “It looks cute.” Shotaro was a bit taken aback with how all three of you stopped just to look at him just because of his short little comment.
Minji approached, coming from a section of the boutique just a little farther from where the three of you were. She came walking with a few items at hand. It was a plain long sleeve shirt, white, a plaid suit vest —in the same color as the dress Natty held—, and some flared trousers in a darker shade of yellow, just a little muted.
“Oh my god, oh my god, you guys need to get into the fitting rooms right now!” you giggled at the way Natty gushed and rushed to get you and Shotaro on your feet.
Her giggles were all it took for you and Shotaro to speed to the fitting rooms. Once the dress went over your head and the skirt settled against your bare legs, your hands traced the shape of your waist seeing how perfectly the dress fits and hugs your body. You loved how the color complemented your skin. Like a perfect painting, freshly polished. You walked out of the fitting room, eyes glued to the flow of the skirt. Once your feet have crossed the line that separated the fitting room from the rest of the boutique, your eyes land on the floor. Your lone feet were now joined by another pair dressed in white Nike air force 1s.
Looking up to your right, smiling eyes greet your own. “Sho, you look dapper!” your exclaim lifted the corners of his mouth to their highest point.
“Wait till I get my hair done.” he says with his chest up and then playfully biting his lower lip.
You laugh at his face, slightly shoving him from where he stood with a light push. He —very gently— bumps his shoulder onto yours, causing you to tilt a tad. With a little chortle, you tell him, “You don’t really need to get it done. It looks good the way it is.” as you ruffle his hair.
He lets out a giggle, so soft and gleeful. “Whatever you say, pretty.”
Walking back to your friends, from a distance, their eyes welcomed the two of you. Their compliments almost fell from the end of their tongues. A gasp leaped over Natty’s words, her hand rushing to catch her breath. “You look cute together!” and you almost gagged from all the cooing. As opposed to you, Shotaro just smiled, his eyes were smiling too. Smiling at you. It wasn’t anything out of the ordinary —you’d convince yourself. But your cognition went offbeat when you met his eyes, and yours would hastily look around for something, anything to subside the feeling that was simmering from within you.
You were thankful that Minji made her comment before anyone noticed. “You look like twin bananas.” your face would scrunch up, and she’d slightly repel, speaking again, “I was trying to say the colors looked cute!” you hear Shotaro’s giggle again. Instinctively, you peered at him. Your best friend.
He used to be your best friend too.
“Y/n?”
You shook your head, your lips forming the best smile you could pull out of your blues. You raised your brows at your best friend who had called you out of your thoughts. “I like these outfits. Let’s get them, yeah?”
“Yeah. I like them too.” he nods along with his words. “Told you you’d look great in anything!” he gently nudges at you when he spews the acclaim.
Just days before he assured you that finding a decent outfit would be no problem, emphasizing that “you already look good with just our school uniform on.” —you’d dispense a hearty cackle, though, you knew he must’ve been sincere with it all, you only intended to humor the situation. All for the sake of not having to foster thoughts about everything he’s said to and done for you for the past two weeks after the ‘you-know-who incident’.
All the while ‘you-know-who’ feigned folly. It was the only way he could ever allow himself to overlook the facts that unfolded from across the street in front of him. The fact that her happiness radiated in high magnitudes. The fact that she laughed with someone else, wore stupid banana-colored matching outfits with someone else —that she laughed with that guy as if he was the greatest comedian she knew. It was the fact that she was happier without him, and that he could never make her laugh like whilst she held on her tummy as her face formed creases of joy. She was only on her way out when he saw her. It’s the happiest he’s ever seen her. No matter how much he loathed the cause of your glee, seeing her smile, grin and giggle made him float to the skies. He daydreamed about what it could sound like, her laughter. Must be delightful with how tightly the other guy had clutched onto her hand. Eunseok looked away before he could fall any deeper. He crossed the road, and her too. He caught a whiff of her almond saffron perfume, and he fished for her gaze only to be met with the eyes he despised the most. “Osaki Shotaro pisses me off.”
Eunseok was now in a cafe to meet up with Gaeul for the first time ever since asking her out to prom —impulsively. She was yet to arrive, so he got on the phone with his dear friend Yeonjun. “We know, we know. But if you’re that competitive why don’t you make moves huh?” Eunseok breathes out a scoff after hearing Yeonjun’s taunting.
“If you knew me at all, you know i’m all but competitive.” Eunseok kept his gaze on the bell above the door, any moment from then it could sound Gaeul’s arrival, not that it was enough for him to pay mind to.
“Yeah, you’re all that, aren’t you?” Yeonjun tittered from the other line. He calmed himself down at an instant when he realized that Eunseok was shut quiet. “You know, Sungchan told me something about his sister, Y/n.” Eunseok had parted his lips, but was unable to utter his next words —those which he had trouble finding— so Yeonjun spoke again, “He said she liked one of her best friends back then. It could be you or Shotaro, but what if it’s been you all along?”
Foot tapping at a pained tempo, Eunseok almost choked holding back a guffaw. “Me? Was I the one she’s been hanging out with? was I the one by her side when her dog died? or when she received such a shitty exchange gift when she had spent loads of time and money for her gift?” Eunseok swore he could see Yeonjun with pursed lips.
The bell sounded just as Yeonjun replied, “It’s not entirely impossible—” *phone beeps* Eunseok ends the phone when Gaeul greets him with heart eyes. Like every girl would.
It didn’t make sense to Eunseok. Every other girl liked him, stared at him for too long sometimes. You were —in his world— every girl. You were the girl that laughed at him when he skinned his knee while he raced against the wind with his bicycle. You were the girl that gave him your frosted animal crackers when he left his lunch box at home. You were the girl that hid her face when she cried after he had told her that he was moving away with his family. You were the girl that pretended not to recognize him at the themepark when he came around to visit again. You were the girl who continued to shun him everyday now that you were in the same highschool. You were all that —and more— to him. You were every girl in his life, in his story, in the little sit-com he lived in.
“So, what do you plan on taking for college?” he stared at the girl who queried him, though it was not clear to her —nor to himself what exactly he was staring for, or at rather.
Eunseok clears his throat, digging around in his mind for the answer, “I plan to take a b-a —uh, public relations.” he chuckled seeing how she fought the grimace from spreading throughout her face. “Sorry if i’m not the computer science or architecture typa guy.”
Gaeul quickly wards off any misunderstandings by hastily shaking her head as she utters, “Sorry, I just haven’t heard that from anyone before. In fact, I'm quite unfamiliar with it.” he leisurely nods, his teeth subtly digging into his bottom lip at the last rise of his head. “Would you mind explaining it to me? your career path and all.”
He raised his brows, a low chuckle, barely audible, was trapped behind his pressed lips. “No, not at all.” maybe, just maybe, he could get his head out of the past, the memories of you. You. Maybe after he’s gotten to know this girl that actually acknowledged his presence and seemed to be genuinely curious to seek for what’s beyond his social persona. The talk was definitely long enough for their lava-hot coffee cups to run cold. And surprisingly for him, there was more gained than said.

Prom night came around, but before it did you made sure to avoid crossing paths with him, or taking turns at the wrong corners and run into him and Gaeul —again. You were never able to be verbal with how grateful you were that Shotaro had been sticking to you ever since you’ve gone to the boutique. His puns and your exchanged banters drew your attention away from Eunseok.
At prom night, Shotaro picked you up with his dad’s car. You scrambled around looking for your purse when you saw him from outside your living room window. He leaned his back against the driver’s seat door, waiting and anxiously fiddling with his fingers. You released a deep exhale once you were faced with your front door. Shotaro stared at the door mat, and when he saw that bright yellow skirt flowing with the cold wind of the night, he gazed up. His eyes lit up as if they had sparklers in them. He had seen you in this dress before —at the boutique, but somehow the atmosphere and the anticipation of taking your hand in his and dancing with you on the dance floor all night made him feel like it was his first time ever trying to catch your eyes behind that beige skimmer hat you wore.
With only a few five steps distancing the two of you, you greet him. “Hi.”
“Hello.” after a minute of —unnecessary— loud silence, you both burst out laughing. “I’m Shotaro, and this pretty girl’s name would be?...”
Your hands settled on your waist, tilting your head —and finally locking your eyes with his. Your lips would curve into a small smile, giving into his little roleplay. “The name's Y/n.” you hold your hand out for a handshake, and you receive it in no time.
“Well, good eve Miss Y/n. It’s my first time seeing you around here, perhaps you’re from out of town?” you suppress your giggle, lips pursed as you composed yourself.
“I could say the same about you.” he chuckles at you, eyes all smiley, like always.
“It doesn’t have to matter pretty, would you dance with me tonight?” he asks with raised brows, and a voice silk like whiskey.
Though his voice caused a short stagnation with your breathing, you cleared your throat, hoping that would ease the one-sided tension. Then suddenly, you gasped, “And for you to expect me to go out with a stranger? how bold!” and very dramatically too.
His eyes dilated, again, laughing against his lips. He gradually pulled his occupied hands from behind his back at the same pace at which he spoke. “Maybe, a little gift would change your mind?” and by then, a bouquet of chocolates —your favorite kind— was being waved, just slightly, right in front of you.
“What? I thought you were saving up? those are expensive!” a hefty load of air went through your nose, taking in the sweet scents of cocoa and sugar.
“Not really expensive, just pricey—”
“Same thing!” Shotaro’s chest was struck by your gentle hand, and he’d hold it there. Your palm was pressed against his heartbeat. You kept your eyes on your hand as you felt for the thumps on his chest. It was paced and certainly not calm. “Sho… you okay?”
With your gaze up at him and a flick of your lashes, his hand found its way on top of yours. And for a while, he’d clasp onto your hand, his grip growing tighter with every count of a second. He gently guides your hand off his chest, lowering it on level with your waist. “I’m taking that as a yes, pretty.” he utters softly as he guides you to the passenger seat of the car.
Once you were seated, you stared straight ahead, not minding Shotaro who went around again to get into the driver’s seat. You anxiously fiddled with the fabric of your skirt, and once you heard the driver’s seat door close, you patted down the cloth and smoothened it with your hands.
“Are you okay Y/n?” the boy beside you asks, and you —obviously— had thoughts running in your head by the looks of your eyes alone.
“Yeah, it’s just…” you were quite embarrassed to admit, “I don’t get why I’m like this either, but…” but it’s nothing Shotaro hadn’t heard from you, right? “I don’t know if I’ll enjoy it if I saw him there with another girl. I’m sorry, Sho.”
You watched as Shotaro’s hands took grasp of the wheel, his thumb grazing against the leather ever so slightly. “Prom is not about Song Eunseok. We can very much enjoy it without seeing him at all. How about we just pretend he doesn’t exist for the night? how’s that sound?” He was calm, and so sweet sounding. He held out his hand with his palm facing the sky, offering to ease your worries.
You took this offer, just for the sake of feeling better and getting your mind off of who wasn’t there for you, and who hasn’t been for eight years. “Thank you, Sho.”
Now his thumb grazed over the skin of your hand. “Anytime. You know I love you, right?”
“I know, you’ve been telling me that since we were kids.” you giggled at each other, before the engine started and you were both off to prom night.

“Thank you for tonight.” you were sitting at an empty table. You had laid your head on your date’s shoulder as your eyes wandered around the scattered bunch of attendees dancing the night away.
Prom king and queen were to be announced after the current song, you heard from one of the other attendees. “Thanks to you too. I had loads of fun.” the back of his hand gently bumps against yours. “Sho!” you breathe out as a laugh follows shortly. “Hate to break it to you, but that’s not what an alligator looks like.”
“Oh, okay then.” he removed his hand from underneath yours, and soon your palms touched each other. You very carefully lift your head from his shoulder, and your eyes land on his face, observing the way his nose scrunched up when he started playing with your hands. “How about this?” he lifts your hands to your face again, showing the little alligator he had created with your joint hands.
And then your eyes meet. Your smile was so soft, as well as your eyes. He thought he was going to melt into a puddle. He just hoped nothing would ruin this serene view. You’re so delicate and beautiful. The night went exactly like how he planned —for the most part. You two were all smiles and laughs when your sides were pressed against each other or when your hands were connected. But one instance of you separating to get drinks for both you and him, he wasn’t expecting you to come back with tears brimming at the corners of your eyes. It was his instinct to always be there for you, and so he rushed to take you in his arms. It hurt him that you weakly tried to fight off his embrace, but then you broke into a sob and meekly laid your weight onto him. His hand encloses yours as he takes you back to the car. “Where are we going, Sho?” your dainty voice pricked his heart.

He didn't let go of your hand till he took you home, but until then, you both sat by the riverside with juice boxes and convenience store sandwiches.

“Well, at least he doesn’t hate us, right? and look, I’m pretty sure if you asked him for help, or a favor or something, he won’t refuse.” Shotaro had his eyes on you only, even if he had asked you to take a breather and watch the river flow. He sighs softly, seeing your gloomy eyes blinked continuously to fight off the tears. “Friends grow apart, it really isn’t his fault he found friends he enjoyed being around with more than—”
“More than us. Yeah, I get it.” a bitter laugh escaped your lips, and you gulped as a single tear trickled down to the side of your face.
Shotaro was quick to not let it run down to your neck, wiping it off with a gentle touch to your face. You took a hold of his wrist, calmy removing his hand from your face and moving it to let it settle on his lap, but before you could let go of him, he brought your hand back in his with one swift motion. Your eyes grew wider than before, blinking a few more times as you held eye contact.
“Can I ask for a favor?” you blinked one more time at his question.

You took a stuttered breath, eyeing Shotaro’s fingers as he drew shapes on your hand.
“But please, forget him.” and another stuttered breath. “It doesn’t have to be now —what I’m trying to say is, if he managed to stop looking out for you, I won’t. No matter what happens.” your eyes soften, keeping it locked with his. “Even if you say no to my favor.”
You raised your brows, visibly confused. “Isn’t the favor to forget about him?”
You felt his grip on your hand tighten, and you could see the movement in his throat as he gulped.

It was undoubtedly,
“Song Eunseok!”
Great. Just great. Eunseok badly wanted to just drown in the crowds of people, but instead he allowed himself to be pushed onstage by his friends. And there he stood, next to the prom queen —thankfully, it was Yuna, and not just some other girl. The girl seemed to be ecstatic, giving Eunseok a high-five. Still, after being crowned and a brief photoshoot session, he hurried back to his date who wore rosey cheeks and a shy smile.
“Hi prom king.” She greets him as he gets closer.
Once he was right in front of her, she wrapped her arms around her neck. He wasn’t surprised, not until she got on her tiptoes to place her lips on his. Just for a short while.
“I like you, Eunseok.” he blinked once, biting onto his bottom lip.
He couldn’t quite figure out what it was, but suddenly his head was brought up —just above Gaeul’s head— where from a distance, he spotted you. Looking so sweet, so flawless in that yellow shirt dress. He loved how you just walked around with that smile he’d always daydream about. In those five seconds of him marveling in the sight of you, he never realized you were looking right at him, then at the shorter girl in front of him. And with a blink of an eye, you were gone.
“Eunseok?” he cleared his throat, finally looking back at Gaeul.
He ponders for a while, and he looks up again. Then he meets another pair of eyes. It belonged to the arms that held you that night as you sobbed.

“Yeah, yeah. But, are you really over… you know.” Chenle brought his eyes to the side.

It reminded you of a time in your childhood where you’d share your food with him because he forgot his lunchbox. You usually gave him more food, just cause you could, but then he’d give some back to you and he’d say, “Now we’re even.” it pulled on your heartstrings, but now you kinda wish you gave him just a piece or two of your animal crackers —and maybe two sips of your apple juice when the weather’s nice.
“I’m afraid I'd scare her off and she’d say no.”
“Really?” —you truly were a bit shocked that he was worried about being rejected. “Well, I believe she’ll say yes.”
“Really?” he imitates you again —the tone of your voice, “What makes you think that?”

The story started with oblivion, and a bouquet of flowers you never received, but it ends with two pairs of engagement rings, and two pairs of smiling hearts. That’s four people —in case you missed it.
God did a great job writing their fate. And to Eunseok, God is the greatest comedian of all.
End.

cheers to a hundred peeps!! :3

Love in the Big City Eps 7-8: Always Forward
Writing about the end of Love in the Big City is hard for me because it’s hard to seem to happy about a show going so dour for this long, but I mostly feel relieved that the show didn’t completely pull back on Yeong’s bleak existence after Gyu-ho. Overall, I really loved this adaptation, and especially enjoyed Sang Young Park’s opportunity to revisit this story after a few years away from it.
Tumblr media
Starting with the way Gyu-ho haunted this section, I absolutely loved how they were able to flash back to the previous part and allow us to see how much closer Yeong got to Gyu-ho. I thought the looks at their trip to Thailand outside of the Yeong depressive haze of Part 3 played out really well here now that he’s mourning the relationship. It’s always so sad to me with Yeong how he will choose to isolate rather than subject his bullshit on others.
Tumblr media
I find myself thinking a lot about the pills they got for Gyu-ho, how they were able to have one night of lovemaking without Kylie hanging over them, how the side effects of those drugs were pretty rough at the time, and how Yeong probably hated the idea of Gyu-ho taking pills forever because of him. It’s ironic that the idea that they could build a relationship around Kylie scared him more than anything because he knew it would be less than what he envisioned Gyu-ho could have for himself.
Tumblr media
I wrote last week about how the apartment was too small, and I’m so glad that we got to see Yeong move out of that apartment in the finale. It felt so appropriate that he moved to a new place that literally looked like a blank slate for him to start over. I’m glad he took so little of the old apartment with him. He kept his mother’s nicest liquor cabinet and her trophies, a few personal items, and otherwise gave himself a new start. Like many of us, he had a big love in his 20s and it didn’t work out. He’s had some success as an author, and now can try to move forward. I like that the only things he takes with him to the new apartment beyond a few personal items are his friends. That feels like the right place to end a story like this.
Tumblr media
Speaking of the T-aras, I really loved including them in this show. I hope that for SYP, there really was a group of friends like this for him during his 20s when he was experiencing the events that inspired some of this story. It feels like a not-so-quiet love letter to those friends that he made sure we saw how they grew and supported Yeong over the course of the story.
Tumblr media
I loved that we saw Yeong grow closer to Eun Su in this section over the broken engagement. Gay relationships can be hard because we don’t have the structures of heteronormativity to help keep us together, like child rearing. So much of it comes down to whether we want to be with this person in and of itself, and for many of us marriage just isn’t the right solution to affirm that. I like that Eun Su realized this about himself before they committed to far, and it was Yeong who he knew would understand him on this.
Tumblr media
I am so glad they went with different directors for each section. I think Hur Jin-ho might be my favorite with the way he used a lot of still shots to capture the stifling nature of Yeong’s time in the hospital and his broken relationship with Yeong Su. I loved the way Kim Se-in shot the follow up look at the trip to Thailand in Part 4, after the beautiful work Hong Ji-young gave us in the small details of the relationship with Gyu-ho that Hong Ji-young captured in Part 3. I would also like to applaud Song Tae-gyum for getting so much energy out of the cast and the shots in Part 1, because the long toll of events on Yeong does not land without coming down from the energy of Part 1. Absolutely phenomenal work from all four directors and the crews.
Tumblr media
As a single story instead of four connected vignettes, I respect the choices the adaptation made to soften some of the heaviest parts of this story, and in particular give us a more hopeful look at Yeong’s future. I love that I feel like I can love the book and drama together and separately. It’s rare that I find a drama adaptation does a good job or elevates the original work, and I’m really glad that I can say that about this show. Everyone put they whole foot in this drama, and it shows.
Tumblr media
Finally, I would like to give a huge thanks to Nam Yoon Su, Jim Ho Eun, Lee So Kyung, Kown Hyuk, Na Hyun Woo, Lee Hyun So, Byun Jun Seo, Jung Chan Yeong, and Oh Hyun Kyung, and the rest of the cast for all their work on this show. This feels like a once-in-a-generation show, not unlike Moonlight (2016), where we may never see the direct impacts of it. Someday, I hope we see the spiritual successor to this show, and can point back at it and thank it for getting us to that future. It’s rare that we get this much experienced talent in dramas playing queer life this frankly, and I will carry Go Young with me for the rest of my life, and will reflect on him and myself in his relationships with his mom, the T-aras, Gyu-ho, Yeong Su, Mi Ae, Nam Gyu, and even Habibi. What I am thankful for with the drama is that we leave Yeong looking forward and not back.
Tumblr media
It has been an honor reacting to this show with all of you in the Love in the Big City Book Club. Thank you all for sharing your thoughts, gifs, and creations with us for this past month. I am so thankful that we got to do this experience together twice. I look forward to our next big outing.

Okay babes, episode 8 is nothing short of exciting!
📍Hae-in choosing to divorce Hyun-woo so he'd finally be free from all the bullshit her family put him up with, and Hyun-woo deciding to stay at Queens so he could prove his innocence and protect Hae-in. I feel sad that they actually divorced but again, it was necessary for them to "part ways" so they'd find their way back into each other, and I think the next episode will be about them slowly rekindling their romance and hopefully healing from the past. I am anticipating a more beautiful wedding than their first one.
📍Don't get me wrong, I still hate Eun-seong but now I'm becoming more and more interested in his backstory, so this bitch still has some ✨humanity✨ in him, judging from the way he reacted when he found out about Hae-in's illness. Him saving Hae-in from the dog attack when they were kids answered the question why he hates dogs. He's still trash, however I do have a feeling that he will have some character redemption somewhere and will basically help Hae-in find a cure, but we'll never know for sure.
📍Hong Man-dae is the biggest fucking idiot among the Hong family, I'm not saying he deserves what happened to him, I'm saying that he needs to learn the hard way and be slapped with the truth so hard that I want him to come down to his knees and beg his children for forgiveness. As much as I feel sorry for him, he was a terrible father to all of them when they got older...and trusting a fucking shaman? Really?
📍Speaking of which, I am actually glad that the Hong family is now broke af. They need to be humbled big time, especially Hae-in's mom, that bitch is such a poor judge of character. I want her to feel embarrassed and terrible about herself for constantly looking down at Hyun-woo and his family, these are the same people who'd willingly save and help their asses even if it meant getting dragged into this shit hole they dug themselves. Also, I saw a clip of the nosy old ladies who were making fun of her at the salon, I say...DESERVE! I hope she starts to change because honestly, I'm so fed up with her and her bullshit.
📍Soo-cheol maybe immature, but I have to admit that he's a good father. He just wanted his son to experience everything he never did, idk what Da-hye was up to. Maybe it was part of their plans? Perhaps she foresaw how messy it's going to be that's why she chose to run away, we'll never know for sure. I still have faith that she'll choose to do what's right for the sake of her son, after all, Soo-cheol treated her and their baby well.
📍Shout out to Song Joong-ki for his cameo. Hiring Vincenzo as a divorce lawyer is such a Hae-in move 😂

I finally rewatched Queen of Tears Episode 16.
Its given me a lot of clarity on why I didn't like it all that much. The episode feels very filler like, reiterating what I already know, no development nothing to draw me in. So here's a list of thing I really like vs things I had beef with:
The Good:
- Hyunwoo's understanding of what marriage is is very profound and beautiful. Really appreciate that bit.
- The employees in this corporate sector have been 10/10 throughout. I cannot with how much I love them to bits. Still not over 'I just want to see the rich argue' 😭😂
- Yangi's bond with Hyunwoo is absolutely 10/10
- I like Haein trying to find the reason of their divorce. It's important for her cause why did two people who love each other want to divorce each other. But again I hate how this wasn't a main cause of comcern around epsidoe 7. Like don't brush over it fam. Don't you wanna know why the man you love and who loved you to bits wanted to divorce you?
- Those last 7-8 mins. Though I wish I had more of them. I needed a linear passing of time. Something like the Germany Montage at the start would've been perfect. But at the very end just 'Way home' playing, Hyunwoo seeing Haein as an angel to pick him up, the familiar happiness and love just spreading around them was beautiful to witness. Really got me teary eyed both times I watched it.
The Bad:
- I'm not even getting into the uselessness and bad execution of the whole Yoon Eun Sung plot line since episode 14.
- Still have no idea why Mol Soo Hee she wanted Suwan dead? Like there's no rationale? Why not kill Hae-in or SeoCheol in all those 20 years as well? It makes no sense to me.
- the episode felt so unnecessarily dramatic. I get it he got shot and was in a car accident but I was so sure he'd be okay? Did not understand or appreciate the over dramaticness also those Yangi shots in that sequence were a little tooo dramatic for me
- I don't like Haein getting back her memories cause they said the hippocampus would be destroyed. It's my fault for looking for logic in the first place but can we please stick to what we established writernim. Also wasn't this the whole problem that she's not getting back ANY memories EVER?!
- The scene between the mothers at this point was also unnecessary. We could've gotten to this realization back in the episode this was brought up the first time. She knew the location and date I don't see how reviewing her album was the light bulb moment.
- I feel super bad for this one but for me even Hae-in's bedside speech, once Hyunwoo woke up, lacked sincerity. As much as she might realize she loves him. He's still a stranger. Who does she miss? Her husband who's love she has no recollection of? The man she loved but she has no idea how she loved him? Take out the loss of memories and it would've hit me like a truck. Like she's not even holding his hand as she waits cause she recently met him. What am supposed to cry over here? What could've been? The pre ep 15 Baekhong I dearly misssed at this point?
- More on the Hyunwoo hospital scene. When he says 'I had forgotten' As sweet as it is I already knew all of it. It was so ill placed I didn't have to see it here.  Also like what does she care? She doesn't remember if you forgot or not in the first place 💀
- The Yangi x Haeina acene in the hospital - what notebook are we talking about? Did I miss something? Did I fall asleep somewhere like what?! Also I feally do like Yangi but I thought all of the scenes with him were kinda forced this episode.
- The conversations where Haein tells Hyunwoo he's perfect. Is it just me or is Haein extremely expressive after the surgery? I can never imagine Haein telling Hyunwoo that he's perfect even if she think so. It was a little off putting for me being introduced to this new character in the last episode. I miss my inexpressible power girl.
- Just the voice over off what happened with Mol Soo Hee would've sufficed but I guess we had to see that SNU degree in action.
- The turn in Da hye's emotion - as sweet as it was also felt forced. They just showed me earlier she didn't care for him and bullied him. Now you want me to belive she mistook her feeling okay sureeee 🙃
- This is what meant by killing the temperment. They start Hyunwoo's monolougue 'We forgave those who we used to resent and then we cut to this long scene of Aunt Beom ja. Then we have Hyunwoo, then we have his brother's scene. The editing was off here. I wish we had a monologue of just them. It all threw me off so much.
And here's why a sequence of Baekhong was so necessary cause remember the first episode we instantly fall in love and get curious because of that lovely montage of BaekHong Germany scenes.
All in all good ending, horrible last two epsiode. Kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. It makes me long so much for the show I saw and fell in love with before. I have never felt this way about a last episode, I think I just expected better from this show.

Synopsis : A toothache leads Jongwoo to a peculiar meeting with an even peculiar yet handsome dentist .
Tags : SFW, Everyone is weird, Mystery , Suspense, Vague Ending
.
.
.
"My tooth HURTS !! "
Jongwoo exclaimed in pain on his bed . It was a typical day in the Eden Goshiwon ; the pervert across his room watching adult videos on high volume , Miss Eom engaging in suspiciously violent small talk with the twins and Gi-hyeok just walking around with specks of red on him.All typical nothing abnormal ; Nothing .The only thing that wasn't typical was Jongwoo's tooth ache. He felt like he was a child again , he hadn't experienced this pain in ages . This feeling of nostalgia was almost ( keyword : almost)  elevating . On second thoughts, his tooth ache might be the only normal thing in the goshiwon .
Nevertheless he can't skip work , he worked his ass off to get one . Jae ho might be a pain in the ass but he has to tolerate him to stay in the office.
" So Annoying, geez !"
"What is it young man , you look annoyed, do you want me to bring some coffee for you ? " Miss Eom said while smirking .
"No Ahjumma it's totally fine , I just have a tooth ache , nothing else".Jongwoo said, clearly frustrated. He hated doing small talk with Miss Eom , she was ....weird to say the least . Sometimes she was too nice which made her suspicious . Whatever Jongwoo had to be in his office by 9 .
" You know there's a clinic down the road right ? Just go there when you get the time,  if you want I could drop you there "
She said while tugging his shirt and staring deeply into his eyes . She always made long lasting eye contact with him . He'd be lying if he said it didn't make him uncomfortable.  The casual touches were even worse. Whatever He brushed it off as her being just friendly .
" I'll think about it " Jongwoo said as he hurriedly walked past by her .
He exited the building as a pair of eyes glared holes into him .
"Jongwoo-ah you're late~" Jaeho said as he rustled through some papers near Jongwoo's usual desk . He took a seat.
Jongwoo's relationship with Jaeho was well...complicated to say the least . Jaeho used to be his Sunbae in college , it seems as if he still believes that he's Jongwoo's senior , which he is technically but the environment of an office and college are totally different. He is nice occasionally like paying for his taxi fares but he gets weird regarding Ji-eun, insisting that Jongwoo isn't good enough for her . Sometimes Jongwoo just wants to get his hands on Jaeho's neck , press his fingers firmly around his neck , heat pooling around it ,  feel his breathing and lungs contracting. Expanding . Contracting.  Expanding . Stop. Death . Cold.  How satisfying that'd feel, the silence would be euphoric, no more nagging, no more walking on eggshells,no more Jae-
"How's Ji-eun lately?"
Jongwoo didn't want to be a part of this conversation, " she's fine as usual ", he said monotonously while working on his laptop. He just wanted to go home and sleep . Sometimes he just wants to run away from everything, Jaeho, Ji-eun, the goshiwon, everything.
"You should take her out somewhere nice once in a while , oh I am sorry what am I saying,  you can barely afford for yourself " Jaeho said cackling and imitating wiping tears away from his eyes .
As soon as his shift was over Jongwoo packed his stuff and left without even looking , he had enough . He hated that his day kept getting worse . When he left his office it was around 9 , it had gotten really dark and there was nothing but pin drop silence. He was reminded of his toothache as he walked past by the dental clinic near his goshiwon . He had completely forgotten about his toothache, but his pain reappeared as soon as he saw the clinic.  He found that funny actually . Maybe he was distracted because of his awful day at work . To be fair , his days were always awkward at best and awful at worst . He suddenly remembered what Ms. Eom told him in the morning and decided to see the dentist to get rid of this stubborn toothache .
A woman rushed past him as soon as he opened the door , he was collecting his thoughts when a man in a white overcoat said , " she had a long shift today ." ,while smiling ear to ear .
"That's the dentist, probably" he thought .
He looked to be in his forties , quite handsome for his age . His build was  lean and slender . He was taller than Jongwoo . He looked calm as if he doesn't let the world's worries get to him .
" I usually leave this time , but now that I have a patient it's my duty to operate on you , I am Dr Seo Moonjo by the way " , He said as he waved his hands , hinting Jongwoo to follow him to his office.
Jongwoo followed him obediently but there was.... something about the doctor he couldn't pin point.  His behavior seemed...practised. It was as if he was just regurgitating what he rehearsed.  He had never met the doctor before but there was this sense of familiarity in the air around him .
"Have a seat Mr Jongwoo " the dentist  said .
Jongwoo was confused ," I don't remember telling him my name , this is strange ", he thought as he sat down on his seat.
The seat reclined.  Jongwoo sat comfortably there. The lights over him switched on . They fell directly on his face .
It was almost blinding.
He was about to get comfortable when he saw something that caught his eye .
A pair of pliers.
They looked brownish. Probably because of the rusting.
"That's weird, why would a dentist have a pair of pliers just lying around " , he thought.
"Ah I can't believe the mechanic left the pliers here!" , Moonjo  said as he picked up the pliers . He swiftly opened his drawer and shoved them in without even looking back.
Jongwoo felt a sense of slight discomfort .
"No damn way ... is this guy a mind reader "
The dentist encroached towards Jongwoo,
sitting down near him . That's when Jongwoo noticed that he wasn't wearing gloves .
What ?
A dentist not wearing medical gloves . That's insane and also unhygienic.
"Uh I am sorry but you aren't we-
"Silence. I can't concentrate like this ", the dentist asserted, glaring down at him.
Jongwoo saw as Moonjo inserted two of his fingers inside his mouth.
His fingers felt cold . Moonjo wriggled his fingers around Jongwoo's mouth . They were drenched in drool and spit. Jongwoo felt uncomfortable , he could feel butterflies in his stomach.
" I have no idea what this man is thinking " .
He fondled Jongwoo's uvula which triggered his gag reflex immediately .
" Uggghhhhhh !!!!! " , Jongwoo gagged .
"What the FUCK do you think you are doing ??  " , he exclaimed . He was furious . He found it violating and humiliating .
"Relax , darling " , Moonjo said , " I am just trying to help you " .
"This man is crazy ??? What the hell is wrong with him ? And 'darling ' ? What the fuck? " , Jongwoo was baffled.
Before Jongwoo could even calm himself down and think , the dentist violently uprooted his tooth out . With his bare hands .
Blood . There was a lot of blood .
On Moonjo's hand and around Jongwoo's mouth .
Crimson was dripping down his neck. He saw himself in the mirror.
And that's when it hit him . The pain.
He felt pure agony. His tooth socket throbbed. He didn't know a tooth pull could feel this tormenting .
"There you go . Now you won't have any tooth ache any time soon ", Moonjo said with a grin on his face . He looked satisfied. As if he accomplished something that he always wanted to do.
If the word 'pleasure' had a face it would look like Moonjo's.
Not even an utterance  came out of Jongwoo's mouth.
He felt a new sensation . Fear.
He didn't care about his toothache anymore. The only thing that was on his mind was to get as far away as possible from this man.
He swiftly grabbed a box of tissue papers kept on the table beside him .
"T-thank you for your service doctor. It's late , I think I should go now. I have to go to work tomorrow ", he said while looking at the floor beneath him . He couldn't make eye contact with Moonjo . He was filled with fear and uncertainty.
He assumed Moonjo would atleast try to question him further . But he didn't.
He just stared at Jongwoo, smiling.
Jongwoo couldn't handle this atmosphere.  He found it suffocating. He quickly grabbed his belongings and bolted .
He didn't even try to look back . Just ran until he was near his goshiwon. Gradually he slowed down because he felt safer now.
Aa he walked into the goshiwon , he saw the twins working on one of the doors .
"That was probably not rust "

Business Before Pleasure
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Part 1
💕 pairing: Cha Eun Woo x fem!reader, Cha Eun Woo x OC
✨ genres: Dark Romance, CEO!au, eventual smut
💕 summary: After losing your job, you pursue your dream of working as a secretary. What you thought would be a piece of cake, turns into more because your boss is a POS
✨ author’s note: This fic is based off of an IG pause game lol. This will be a multi part fic so I will upload them as I write. If you would like to be tagged when I upload, please leave a comment! This first part is short but I hope the following parts will be over 2K words. Thank you for reading and enjoy your day <3 P.S the pictures I'll be using for this are not what the character looks like, just as reference to their style or personality.
💕 word count: 2.26K
To say you hated your job was an understatement. You had been working as an at home event planner, only visiting the office for important meetings or to meet with certain clients. It's been 3 years since you started working for the company and to think you bared through the stress for this long should be counted as an achievement. Truthfully you stayed for the pay. Yes it wasn't amazing but it paid your bills and anything else necessary so it slightly outweighed the cons. Tonight however, you regretted your tenacity with how the woman on the other end was yelling at you. She complained and complained about how her entire event was ruined because of a simple mistake that wasn't even on the company’s part but she felt the need to be compensated.
"Yes ma'am, I understand the problem you're having and I'm doing my best to help you. However, I am only able to do that if you stop yelling."
That only seemed to fuel her anger more and she blurted some obscenities before hanging up on you. You rolled your eyes and looked over at the time. It was already 9:45 pm aka 45 minutes past your time to get off. You sucked your teeth and quickly clocked out before shutting down your computer and standing to stretch your legs. Punctuality was one of your biggest traits, especially when it came to your meals but with you staying over time, you had no energy to stand and make yourself dinner. Takeout was your best bet now and as you scrolled through the many options available, an email notification pops up on your screen. You cringed when you saw it was from your boss and already knew why he bothered emailing you so late.
He was an asshole to say the least. He always treated his employees like crap and would penalize them whenever they worked overtime. He especially seemed to hate you for some reason and you were never really sure why. You open the email and read its contents, predicting what you would see, only to be utterly shocked.
Dear Ms. Meng,
I am regretfully emailing you to inform you that due to complaints and interactions with your client tonight, we will unfortunately have to terminate your contract with us. At this time we are unable to reconsider this decision. We hope that you will succeed in your future endeavors.
Best Regards,
A.P Wilson
This could NOT be happening, especially after you took the time out to try and help her as best as you could with an issue that wasn't even your fault. You never received client complaints, so she would be the first and apparently last. You immediately scrolled through your contacts and selected your boss' number and gave him a call.
"Ah Ms. Meng I expected you to call. Unfortunately as I said in my email, the decision is not up for discussion."
"Mr. Wilson" you put on your best fake smile even though he couldn't see it on the other end of the call. "Would you care to inform me how one complaint from a client lead to my termination? Don't you think that's a bit much?"
"A bit much? You were 45 minutes over time with a client you weren't even being considerate to. She said you yelled at her and didn't help her at all. What am I, as a good boss, supposed to take from that?"
"I don't know, maybe ask your employee first before you just let them go? But I forgot, you have your head so far up your ass that you are so busy worrying about paying your employees extra for overtime that you didn't notice that she tried to get a full refund and then some for an issue that wasn't even our faults! Fuck you and fuck this company!"
You didn't even bother to hear what else he had to say and hung up. This job was never really worth it and maybe now you could get an office job that you actually preferred with a boss that you actually liked, no matter how hard those are to come by. You sat on your bed with your brows furrowed and tossed your phone to the other end. You were pissed and now you didn't even want dinner.
Flopping onto your stomach at the other end of your bed, you picked up your phone and immediately typed in a job searching website. Office jobs were common and shouldn't be that hard to find, yet after scrolling through almost 20 pages and finding nothing, you ended your search early. It was only the first day and unemployment should process quickly so you had a few months before you were flat broke. Surrendering to the growling in your stomach, you settle on some tacos for the night.
There was no point in sitting at home sulking when you could be enjoying your unintentional vacation. You never had much time for your friends before, so now was best to call them up to hang out. It was a unanimous decision on meeting at a cafe to chat and have some decent coffee.
"Hey girly!" your best friend Priya called out to you, wrapping an arm around you as she approached. "This is great, finally some time to yourself and time for me!"
Priya has been your best friend since high school. She was your ride or die, there for you whenever you needed her. She was on the much more outgoing side personality wise, but you liked that about her, it helped you get out of your comfort zone. To say this friendship was a blessing would be a severe understatement. You were grateful for her and so was she for you.
"How are you handling everything?"
"I'm doing great actually. I'm going to take this as a sign to go for what I really want." You push the door open for her and allow her to walk in.
"Optimistic as always. We love a consistent girl like you Faye."
A few minutes later, two more friends, Liz and Ada, popped into the cafe and happily rushed over to where you and Priya sat. You slid over to make space on your end of the booth for Ada to fit.
"Someone must have sold their soul to get this girl out." Ada says, bumping her shoulder against yours.
"Haha no, I actually got fired."
The whole table spent about 10 minutes cursing out your boss and praising how much of a good worker you were. As much as you hated how everything was handled, you were telling the truth when you said you were fine.
"Actually, one of my friends from college works at this business and they're looking for a new secretary. If you want, I can hook you up with all the info." Liz interrupts the "boss bashing" and you focus solely on what she has to say. "And I heard the boss is super hot."
You laughed and shook your head. She was always trying to be the matchmaker of the group and almost always ended up failing. You appreciated her efforts though, you haven't had a boyfriend or any love interests since highschool. Boys weren't really on your mind since you broke up with your last one, he was just like every other douchebag guy you knew of.
"Actually Liz, I'm going to have to take you up on that offer. Can you ask your friend if she minds that I have her number? I want to ask her about a few things before I apply."
She quickly nodded and immediately got to typing on her phone.
This was it. Your dream job coming true before your eyes and you didn't know how to handle the happiness. It checked off all the marks you wanted and then some. Sure there were a few things you didn't like about the job but nevertheless, it was what you wanted and you didn't let the chance pass you by.
Today your interview was scheduled for "noon sharp" as the secretary informed you just a few days before. You were all about great first impressions, so you made sure to be here 15 minutes early.
The building was huge and slightly overwhelming. You walked through the revolving doors that lead to the large space. It made you feel important and like the characters you would see on dramas that scanned their key cards to get past the turnstile gates.
There was a middle aged fair skinned woman sitting at a large desk on which the words "information" was read, with a phone between her face and shoulder.
"Hello, can I help you?" She looks at you with a bubbly smile, teeth pearly white.
"Yes, I have an interview with EWX"
"Oh yes, they're expecting you. Take this elevator on the left and go to the 4th floor."
You silently thanked her and waved goodbye as she took another call. The more the elevator ascended, the more your anxiety rose. It's been years since you were last on an interview and you suddenly felt like you left all your experience and skills with your old job. The elevator dinged when it reached the 4th floor and the two doors opened. There was another woman at the front desk on this floor and she smiled when she saw you.
"You must be Faye, here for the interview?"
"I am! Do I need to sign in?"
"Not at all, go ahead and take a seat and they'll be out here shortly."
You sat in the small waiting area for about 5 minutes before you heard someone call your name. When you turned around and looked, there was a girl, seemingly around your age looking over the front desk to see where you sat. Admittedly you were short, but she looked past you as if expecting to see someone a bit older.
"Oh, you're Faye?"
"Yes, I am." You chuckled and put your hand out to shake hers.
She sneered and hesitated to shake your hand. "Wonderful.” She says, sarcasm heavily laced in her voice “Right this way."
You didn't want to think negatively about her behavior but there was only one way to assess it. That's not what you were here for though and you wouldn't let it affect your professionalism. When you entered the interview room, there were two other people there; a man and another woman.
The interview went well. They asked you about yourself, your work history and how you found out about this position. They appeared to be pleased with your answers and said they would be contacting you within the next few days.
The first girl you met eventually introduced herself as Ashley and walked you back out to the waiting room.
"Don't get your hopes up, the boss doesn't really like people like you and most people don't last long."
You looked at her as you pressed the button for the elevator. "Do you mind elaborating on 'people like me'?" She was leaving a bad taste in your mouth but you gave her one last chance to turn it around.
"You know, extremely bubbly, overzealous. Just stop trying so hard and maybe you'll have a chance."
You wanted to roll your eyes. She obviously either has a crush on this man or secretly fucks him and thinks she's better than everyone else, but you bet money it was the former. "Well Ashley, I guess we'll just have to see if the boss wants 'someone like me' to be a breath of fresh air after dealing with someone like you." The elevator opened as you finished your sentence and you stepped in. "Have a great day!"
It's been 3 days since you last spoke with them and the weekend was quickly approaching. It was only your first interview so you knew not to put all your eggs in one basket, but you really wanted for it to work out.
You stood at the stove, phone propped up against your toaster as you made yourself a quick lunch. "I'm so excited to hear back from them whether they want me or not."
"I'm glad you're looking on the bright side and not letting it get you down." Ada praises your optimism and confidence.
"Same and for not letting that jealous bitch get to your head." Priya added.
"I'm sorry if they say no, I'm going to feel like it's my fault for even mentioning it." You looked over and saw a pout on Liz's face.
"Aww Lizzie, don't feel that way. I'm actually so much more eager about finding this type of work so this interview was a big step."
Just then, a number you don't have saved rings your line and you quickly put your friends on hold to answer it.
"Yes, is this Ms. Meng?"
"Yes, speaking!"
"Oh great, this is Sabrina with EWX, I was just letting you know that we would like to offer you the position. Are you still interested?"
"That would be wonderful!"
"Great! We would love for you to come in this Monday to get a fresh start and learn the ropes. Is that too sudden?"
"Not at all! Thank you again for this opportunity and I will see you all Monday!"
"Wonderful, it was a pleasure speaking with you Ms. Meng and we'll see you Monday!"
You quickly switched back over to the group call with your friends and they immediately knew of the great news with the huge smile you wore. They all screamed, clapped and congratulated you.
You never expected to get over this big hump so quickly but you were no less than grateful. This was big for you and you couldn't wait to see what your new job had in store.

Why You Should Watch White Christmas (the 2011 Kdrama): A Manifesto
Yesterday I was watching White Christmas (specifically episodes 4 and 5) for the fourth time. I watched it for the first time like five years ago and all my feelings are still there and still potent so today I am here to tell you that you should watch it too.
Tumblr media
THE BASICS:
Seven kids at an elite private high school over winter break. They stayed there because they all received mysterious black letters, accusing them of vague, nonspecific crimes and claiming that on New Year's Day someone will die. When they find out that ALL of them received this letter, they decide one of them must have been the one to send it--and they set out to discover who it was. In the meantime, a giant blizzard shuts down all the roads, and telephone and internet connections go down as well, leaving the school isolated and all on campus trapped there together.
things develop from there.
THE CHARACTERS:
Tumblr media
Park Moo-yul: A Good Boy. His grades are constantly second highest in the school; he's obsessed with studying and wants to someday come in first. Sort of a leader type, he tries to organize the investigative efforts (and later, keep things from falling apart--except, much as he'd like to believe it, he's not immune to the Lord of the Flies effect lols). For the first couple episodes, he's sort of the main/POV character, but by the end it's more of an ensemble cast show. In the episodes I just watched, there are multiple scenes with him staring down a gun and waiting to get shot. Some ppl think he's boring but I love a guy with a hero complex.
Tumblr media
Choi Chi-hoon: The Genius. The first place to Park Moo-yul's second. People call him unemotional and heartless; it turns out later he does have difficulty feeling emotions due to a neurological issue. Loves science, interested in the black letters as a puzzle but for a while pretends not to be. The least likely to go Lord of the Flies but his Very Logical plans are often actually very risky.
Tumblr media
Yoon Eun-sung: The Only Girl. (except for that one other woman who shows up later but she's not one of the seven so we're not counting her.) Used to be the most popular girl in school and also Park Moo-yul's girlfriend but then she Changed (aka she developed depression). Sarcastic and possibly suicidal. Everyone is OBSESSED with her (well, four, arguably five characters are obsessed with her, but this show only has a total of 11 characters so that's really too many).
Also, she's played by Esom, so if you like Esom, you should watch White Christmas.
Tumblr media
Lee Jae-kyu: Why are you here???? For the first few episodes, that's a genuine question; he doesn't have an apparent connection to the others in the group, and it's a mystery why the black letter sender would have any grudges against him. It turns out later he has some secret issues. He's a bit of a snake in the grass. I won't go into it.
Tumblr media
Yang Kang-mo: He wants to be a reporter someday! His nickname is Cameraman Yang, and he's always carrying a camera around. He's deaf, and partly as a result, gets bullied a lot. He is the favorite character of the friend I was watching this show with yesterday. Also there's a whole episode of him getting chased around with baseball bats, look forward to it.
Tumblr media
Jo Young-jae: A bully, a coward and a messed up kid. A line he says in the show is, "Yes, I'm used to people hating me. To the extent that I'm scared when people don't hate me. But you made me hate myself!" A line someone else says to him is, "You're not a bad person. You're weak. If everyone knew how weak you were, they wouldn't hate you." To watch Jo Young-jae have multiple mental breakdowns, watch White Christmas, I promise it is very fun.
Also, he's played by Kim Young-kwang, so if you like Kim Young-kwang, you should watch White Christmas.
Tumblr media
Yoon Su: His nickname is Angel. In general, it requires incredible academic acumen to go to Susin High; Yoon Su got in bc his parents donated money to the school. He's a loner and does not want to be here; his ambition in life is to be a musician, and he loves playing the guitar. He has some mental health issues and takes (unspecified) recreational drugs. He also has a giant grudge. Against who? Stay tuned to find out.
Also he's played by Lee Soo-hyuk, so if you like Lee Soo-hyuk, you should watch White Christmas.
Tumblr media
Kang Mi-reu: THIS BOY IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE HERE. Remember how I said seven kids got letters, seven kids stayed at the school? Meet kid number eight. Kang Mi-reu didn't get a letter and he didn't get permission to stay on campus either; technically he's on probation and on his way to being expelled. He sneakily stayed on campus to investigate who framed him for exploding a statue, the reason for his expulsion. He can go through air vents and has a great theme song. He wants to solve his problems with violence. Actually he once beat Choi Chi-hoon at academics but got pissed off at always losing to him and gave up on being a perfect student. We all love Kang Mi-reu.
Also he's played by Kim Woo-bin so if you like Kim Woo-bin, you should watch White Christmas.
Tumblr media
Yoon Jong-il: The teacher who stayed on campus to supervise. Wow, I'm sure with a responsible adult around, there will be no chaos or violence breaking out on campus.
Tumblr media
Kim Yo-han: He's not even affiliated with the school. He got in a car accident near it and then got stuck here due to the storm. He keeps getting concussions/broken bones/deadly fevers. Also, he's a psychiatrist, and finds all the weird shit going on at the school rather intriguing.
IS IT SHIPPY?
I mean, is there any actual romance? No.
Do we see slow burn friendships develop from suspicion to deep trust and affection over the course of the show? Also no.
Do I think some of these people should make out? Yeah.
A few ships I have specifically:
-Choi Chi-hoon/Park Moo-yul: Obvious rival ship, overemotional dude/kind of cold dude, leader type/genius type. There is also some hurt/comfort towards the end that I really can't describe without spoilers but the mix of resentment and trust is immense.
-Kang Mi-reu/Park Moo-yul: This is my just for fun ship. Good boy/bad boy vibes. Also Kang Mi-reu seems to actually listen to Park Moo-yul when for the most part he won't listen to anyone. Also he snuck into Park Moo-yul's bedroom once while he was sleeping and teased him about the fact that he and all the others got black letters and won't the sender be so offended he dares to sleep instead of sitting up paranoid all night. I just think they're cute.
-Yang Kang-mo/Jo Young-jae: Yes this is a bully/victim ship which is not usually my thing, but I love both of them and also Young-jae is so pathetic and Kang-mo honestly scares him at multiple points. Meanwhile Kang-mo is kind of tired and fed up with him but at this point has sort of a weird connection with him regardless. They know each other.
-Yoon Eun-sung/Jo Young-jae: Young-jae is my favorite of the dudes who's obsessed with Eun-sung, and the most toxic of them as well. She used to be perfect and he had a resentful crush on her for that; now she's kind of messed up but still aloof and superior, and he still wants and hates her at the same time. And she knows, and teases him about it, and he acts nonchalant but you can tell it grinds at him. The best m/f dynamic of the show.
I have a bunch of other ships.... explaining them involves spoilers so I'll just list a few: Kang Mi-reu/Yoon Su, Yang Kang-mo/Yoon Eun-sung/Park Moo-yul, Lee Jae-kyu/Choi Chi-hoon, Lee Jae-kyu/Jo Young-jae.
BUT, PERHAPS MOST IMPORTANTLY... THE VIBES!!!
I love the characters of White Christmas but I mostly rewatch it so much bc 1) the pacing is on point and 2) it's so cinematically satisfying.
In terms of plot and pacing--Everything moves fast. Each episode is very distinct from the others, the plot consistently moving forward at a breakneck pace. Each episode I would say gets a little faster and wilder (with the exception of episode 3, perhaps, which moves a little slow--but then episode 4 goes completely unhinged, so it's a fair exchange). There is shit going on and they are going to cram a whole show's worth of content into 8 episodes and you are going to eat it.
In terms of production: Visually stark. Lots of glass and snow and shadows everywhere. Fun shots. A great soundtrack. For one thing, Wake Up by Arcade Fire recurs a lot and the vibes are immense and very teenage angst and "what the fuck am I supposed to do".
Anyways here's some shots I think convey the vibe:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ANYWAY.
Watch White Christmas! And if you do, or if you've already watched it, please talk to me about it! I am currently in the White Christmas feelings, as I often am this time of year.

Because I have no one in person that I can rant to about my thoughts on Cinderella and the Four Knights (2016), you guys get to hear my thoughts.
First, I put this show on because I had just finished Tomorrow (2022), and I needed something sappy and full of cliché tropes to help distract me from the emotional trauma. I did my best from episode 1 to try and guess who was endgame for Eun Ha-Won based on all of the stereotypes and the way the interactions between her and the Kang cousins were written, and I feel like my original thoughts would’ve been a better ending.
Also with the way that the characters were written, they really should’ve called it Cinderella and the Three Knights because the fourth “knight” wasn’t even really written to be a Love Interest in spite of him being one of the best characters (until stuff happens with his mother and then it’s like being disappointed by your longtime crush and wanting to smack some sense into them).
My thoughts on the characters, though:
Eun Ha-Won
I love her. She deserves the world. She is an absolute ball of sunshine in spite of all the shit she’s had to deal with and continues to deal with straight through to the final meeting she has with Chairman Kang. I think she’s gorgeous, and I hate that she thinks she’s not pretty just because of how the Kang cousins treat her vs Park Hye-Ji. She honestly could’ve made it through the whole show without a Love Interest and I would’ve liked that more than the actual ending. She’s strong physically, mentally, and emotionally. She’s very smart and wants to use what she knows to teach others. She’s so very devoted to family in spite of how her stepmom and stepsister treat her, and even more so how her dad treated her. I would’ve tried to woo her myself if I had been in the show.
Kang Ji-Woon
The bad boy/bully type, the enemies-to-lovers trope, the stalker’s enabler. This man constantly looks like a crying wet puppy, but not in a cute way. He tries to look so sad and pitiful, and he’s an asshole from the get go. From the very start where he rolls his eyes and tries to give Ha-Won his watch when she asks him to apologize for not buying all the food he asked her to prepare at the convenience store, and then scoffs and immediately assumes she’d do anything for money (without considering the fact that she’s dead broke and needs money to survive). You think maybe there’s a redemption when he gives her a bouquet of white roses on the memorial day (I forget what the actual name of that day is called) of her mom’s death. And then you see him being a whiny puppy stuck to the second female lead, enabling her stalker tendencies and hating everyone who doesn’t immediately make Hye-Ji happy. He hates Hyun-Min so much that he also decides to pursue Ha-Won just to make him miserable when he thinks they’re engaged, not even caring about how it might make Ha-Won feel. He keeps doing sweet and caring things that make you think “oh she’s finally breaking down his tough exterior”, and then he just turns around and is an asshole again. He abandoned both Ha-Won AND Hye-Ji on the side of the road on separate occasions and then thought just saying “oh sorry” would fix it. I get that his backstory is sad, and I get that Chairman Kang fucked him over and basically forced him to accept the fact that he’s family, but it’s no excuse for the way he treats everyone else. Also, man needs to learn how to comb his hair and maybe take some allergy medication so his eyes stop watering and his nose isn’t always red.
Kang Seo-Woo
The unrequited love, the pop-star, the male best friend trope. I love him, and I hate that the writers barely gave him a chance. He tried so hard so many times to tell Ha-Won that he liked her. He did so many things to care for her, wrote love songs about her, used his status as a pop-star to help draw crowds away from Ha-Won when she was getting bullied by the girls who thought she was Chairman Kang’s mistress, was a genuinely kind person to everyone including Ha-Won’s best friend, and tried so many times to confess. I wish the writers would’ve taken just a couple more lines to have him say “no, Ha-Won, I’m not writing a love song right now, I’m telling you how I genuinely feel about you” and actually given her a chance to consider him. He saw how much Ha-Won hated the spotlight she got while everyone thought she was engaged to Hyun-Min, and he let pictures of himself in a girls uniform go viral just to stop more pictures of Ha-Won from leaking to the press. At any moment, he could’ve just done with Hyun-Min did and asked Ha-Won to play along with the rumors of them dating, but he actually considered Ha-Won’s feelings (glaring at you, Ji-Woon) and lied about his own feelings to protect her. If I had to choose between the Kang cousins, I would choose Seo-Woo.
Kang Hyun-Min
The spoiled rich kid, the playboy, the fake fiancé, the one afraid to actually love, the object of the stalker’s affection. I wish he had been endgame. They set it up so well in the beginning for him to be endgame. You could tell from the moment he saw Ha-Won beat up the assholes at the bar/party for not paying for the pizza delivery, he was developing feelings. He could’ve easily gone back on his bet with his friends and asked any other girl to go to Chairman Kang’s wedding with him, but he chose to go after Ha-Won, and even went all the way to the convenience store just to try and get her attention. His shock at hearing about BOGO deals with the ice cream was honestly cute, and he was kind enough to sit down with Ha-Won and enjoy the ice cream in spite of being raised directly under Chairman Kang (who makes it very clear what he thinks of anyone who isn’t rich), and he’s actually nice to her. At the beginning he still has that playboy attitude, but even after offering her money to be his date (and being turned down, good job Ha-Won for holding true to your values), he still tries. He picks her up for the wedding, opens the door for her, treats her the way a gentleman should treat a lady (win for chivalry!), and gives her a chance to feel as beautiful as she is. He also is very up front and adamant with Hye-Ji that he wants nothing to do with her, but she keeps showing up and trying to make him feel guilty for not still liking her after having a crush on her when they were NINE YEARS OLD, and it’s been 10 years (she bugs the hell out of me but we’ll get to her). Hyun-Min also is thinking of Ha-Won when he asks Chairman Kang and Secretary Lee to keep it secret from the other Kang cousins that Ha-Won isn’t his real fiancé, because he trusts that they wouldn’t try to pull anything on someone who was already in a relationship (fuck you Ji-Woon for taking that personally and making Ha-Won uncomfortable and confused). He keeps Ha-Won company so she won’t be alone, he goes along with her missions until his pride gets in the way, he buys her a whole wardrobe of clothes because she keeps wearing the same tracksuit for god knows how many episodes and just genuinely tries to make her feel comfortable and taken care of so she can focus on the things she actually needs to do instead of just surviving. I wish that he had seen Ha-Won when she got dolled up in that black and blue dress, he would’ve fallen for her all over again. Unfortunately, the writers decided that the “childhood lovers/first love” trope was more important for Hyun-Min and Hye-Ji, and they had him go back to her even though she was being a stalker after he repeatedly said no. Also hella power move that the heir to the Haneul group in his early 20s would go stand before a board of directors and his grandpa’s wife to save his grandpa’s company after being a slacker playboy up until he met Ha-Won. I love him. I wish he had ended up with Ha-Won. Fuck the writers for putting him with his stalker.
Lee Yoon-Sung
The “fourth knight”, the secretary to the chairman, the by the book character. They never even gave him a chance to be considered a Love Interest, so it kept bothering me that they called it “…Four Knights” and then only made 3 of them potential LIs. He is the most efficient and down to earth of all the guys, he does his job exceedingly well, he respects the absolute hell out of Ha-Won and tries his best to make the Kang cousins respect her as well, he’s a master of tae-kwon-do, he’s deeply loyal to the chairman until a bigger issue comes up, and he’s a very obvious fan favorite. I was very disappointed that the writers made him side with Madame Ji even for the time that he did because he had been so against treating her as his mother after she abandoned him with an abusive drunk father 12 years prior, but I am glad his loyalty to the chairman won out. Also very happy that they included him in their friend group at the end, my man needs to learn to relax (but not with alcohol… my emetophobia did not appreciate the end of the drunk dinner…).
Park Hye-Ji
The second female lead. I cannot stand her. I hate that the writers even included her past the first couple episodes, and I hate even more than they ended up letting her win with Hyun-Min. She’s a very “woe is me” character who acts like she’s entitled to everyone’s attention, especially Hyun-Min’s, just because he gave her a ring when they were 9 and her family got along with the Kang family before her brother died. This girl spends 10 years pining over Hyun-Min after she has not seen or heard from him AT ALL in those 10 years, shows up at his house unannounced when he returns to Korea from studying abroad, constantly shows up wherever he is in public and just looks at him all sad and pathetic like he belongs to her and is cheating on her, she’s been told by him numerous times in basically every episode that he does not want her around and that she should give up even to the point where Hyun-Min has to threaten to never acknowledge her again, she hates Ha-Won for being close to Hyun-Min and then later Ji-Woon, she jumps from guy to guy after Hyun-Min’s threat starting with Ji-Woon because she knows it’ll piss off Hyun-Min the most, she assumes anyone who is nice to her must be in love with her and feels personally attacked and betrayed when they’re like “no I’m just a nice person, I don’t have feelings for you”, blames Hyun-Min for her being so sad and depressed when she’s the one who can’t just fucking get over him from when THEY WERE CHILDREN, constantly tries to make moves and get close to Hyun-Min on the trip and after she moves into Haneul House, and then turns around and is like “I never want to see you again” when Hyun-Min tries to treat her more kindly and tries to explain why he was being such a dick to her. And yet they end up together. Because “childhood love/first love” was more important to the writers than the fact that they made the second female lead a self absorbed entitled stalker. The only thing that comes to mind that puts her in a good light was when she let Ha-Won spend the night, but even that was reluctant and she only started being nice after Ha-Won admitted that the engagement was fake. She should’ve just taken the fashion scholarship to Paris and finally gotten out of the Kang’s lives. If she was alone in a foreign country she might actually learn to rely on herself instead of always expecting Hyun-Min or Ji-Woon to come running.
Hong Ja-Yeoung
Seo-Woo’s biggest fan, Ha-Won’s best friend, an absolute cupcake of a character. I want her to be my best friend. It did annoy me that at the beginning of the trip, she left Ha-Won to do stuff alone just because Seo-Woo wasn’t joining them, but my girl has Ha-Won’s back in every other situation. She was even willing to support Ha-Won and Seo-Woo when the scandal article was published saying that they were engaged when they weren’t. She also was determined enough to get close to her favorite pop-star that she came up with a plan to help him escape his fan girls by wearing her school uniform, and she managed to sneak some photos of him crossdressing as well that he later used to help Ha-Won. She’s been there for Ha-Won through everything and did whatever she could to help even though she herself didn’t have much. I am so happy for her that she gets to be part of Seo-Woo’s management team in the end.
Chairman Kang
Classist asshole who values highly skilled and charismatic employees, but continues to treat them like trash if they stop acting like employees. For him, money buys everything including people, and he has almost completely forgotten what it’s like to actually care about someone until Ji-Woon is on his knees in tears begging him to give his blessings to him and Ha-Won, bringing up how the chairman made his mom leave his dad to remind him of the horrible mistake he made in the past. Chairman Kang talks all the time about wanting the Kang cousins to act as a family, but doesn’t even act like a grandpa to them. He acts like a dictator by threatening to cut them off from everyone and everything if they don’t do exactly what he says. He has good instinct not to trust Madame Ji towards the end, but you would think after 4 failed marriages he would have some way of blocking any future wives from trying to take over the company. I’m glad he finally gave Ha-Won his blessing, but just the wrong cousin.
That being said! In spite of the endgame love interest and the stalker, the interactions were pretty cute and it was entertaining. It was much needed after watching Tomorrow. I’m going to acknowledge that canon has Ha-Won with Ji-Woon, but in my mind I will always pair Ha-Won with Hyun-Min or Seo-Woo, and believe that Hye-Ji would actually go away (and STAY away) after Hyun-Min rejected her at the wedding.

~ Chapter 6. 04 ~
I apologize in advance for any spelling or grammar mistakes and how poorly written this fanfic is. English is not my first language and together with my dyslexia ass things can go wrong I'm sorry.
Tumblr media
I can't really remember when I fell asleep. Hyun-su and I talked for a long time, but I guess I was too tired to stay awake.
Maybe it was because the couch I was sitting on was soft and comfortable, which is totally the opposite of sleeping on the ground.
Usually, I would fight to stay awake because of the nightmares I had.
However, I didn't have one this time. For the first time in the few months I have lived here I had a peaceful sleep. I don't know how long I have slept, but when I woke up I felt less tired than before.
My eyes scanned the room seeing that we were still in the backroom. I almost jumped up when I felt something move underneath my head. I turned around quickly realizing I was lying on Hyun-su's lap with my head. I definitely don't remember falling asleep like this.
My eyes snapped to my waist when I felt some weight on it. A burning sensation quickly rises to my cheek when I notice Hyun-su's hand lying on it securely. Biting the inside of my cheek I look back up at him.
I was debating whether to wake him up, but then I remembered that he was exhausted and needed a good sleep. It looked like he was getting it.
His chest was rising up and down peacefully, while he lay with his head against the wall. It surprised me that nobody had come looking for me or to take over guard duty.
They either don't care or it hasn't been a long time since I was here. Maybe it was best to get up and go outside. I just know that they would react crazy if they saw me here inside.
Carefully I took Hyun-su's hand placing it on the seat before slowly lifting myself up from his lap. Finally standing up, I turned around to look at the sleeping boy.
A small smile came to my lips when I saw how peaceful and relaxed he was right now. I took the first aid kit from the ground before silently walking to the door. It was a hasel to open it without making a lot of noise, but I succeeded in not waking him while doing so.
Taking the lock and key I pause for a second looking at it. This still felt wrong. I should be in there as well. I hate that Eun-hyuk makes me keep it a secret.
Shaking my head I put the lock on it clicking it shut before walking away. This can't go on forever. What if more people turned and there were too many people to be locked up? For a moment I stop in my tracks when I hear people arguing behind the door.
It sounded like Eun-yu and Ji-su. Oh no this can only end badly. Swing the metal door open I saw Eun-hyuk was there as well. Maybe he can calm them down if I can't.
"You aren't even my real brother."
Ubruptly is stopped moving hearing her say that, but I didn't have time to fully think about it when a slapping sound echoed through the room.
Totally surprised and in shock I looked at the back Eun-hyuk after he just had slapped her. Quickly I shook the shock away and ran up to the two.
"Eun-hyuk!" I hist coming to a halt next to them.
A look of shame came on his face while trying to look at anything but his sister. Eun-yu looked right at him with so much hatred before speaking up.
"You're fucking unbelievable."
After that, she walked away not sparing any glance at us. I shook my head walking in front of him.
"For someone smart like you it surprises me that you stoop so low. You two should be happy that you still have each other. Some of us aren't as lucky as you two." A look of guilt washes over his face, but he doesn't speak.
Without looking at him again I turned around hoping to find Eun-yu somewhere. It honestly surprised me that he slapped her.
You would think Eun-yu would have done it a long time ago, but she has never laid her hands on him. Even if she was extremely angry.
It took me a while to find her, but when I did she was sitting against a wall at the entrance of the stairwell outside. Angrily she puffs out some smoke before angrily putting her cigarette back in her mouth and repeating the cycle.
Not saying a thing I took a seat on the opposite wall of her. I know if I would talk to her now she would just snap at me and build up those walls again, so it was better to let her calm down before I would open my mouth.
"He's a fucking idiot." She mutters out looking outside.
"I can't argue you with that," I said pulling my knees to my chest and leaning on it with my arms and chin.
"I hate him." I poke the inside of my cheek knowing she now hates him, but deep down she doesn't.
"I know," I whisper looking down.
A scoft left her lips at my answer.
"You're not going to tell me I'm wrong?"
I look up meeting her gaze shaking my head.
"Why would I? If you feel like that now. I can't tell you what you should be feeling."
Through squint eyes, she stared at me before shaking her head.
"I hate it! I hate everything that has happened in the past! Why did I have to beg and whine so that they would come to my ballet?! Why did they have to facking die?! Why did they have to adopt me!? I'm a horrible person! Ugh, why?!" She yelled out in frustration putting her hands in her hair after tosing her cigarette out.
"Eun-yu, you're not. You are just being you. The honest, not afraid to put people in their place, sarcastically, caring you. There is nothing horrible about that. If you were a horrible person you wouldn't have talked to me on the rooftop the first day we met. You were the first person in my life who treated me normally when we met." She pulled her hands away looking at me curiously.
I let out a sigh contemplating if I should tell this or not to her.
Fuck it.
"You're the first friend I have ever had in my life."
A shocked expression washes over her face.
"My upbringing wasn't like everyone else normally has."
I press my lips together looking down at the ground before continuing.
"I'm an orphan."
I was afraid to look up and see her reaction. She told me she was one, but I have never told her that I was one too. What if she is made that I kept it a secret?
Mustering up all my courage I moved my eyes up meeting hers eventually. She had her eyes focused on me, but I couldn't see if she was mad or anything really.
"Why didn't you tell me?" She eventually asks not taking her eyes off me.
I shrug my shoulders letting out a sigh.
"I didn't want you to be burdened with my problems when you had yours." Her eyes scanned me up and down before she leaned forward slapping one of my legs.
"Ow! What was that for!?" I asked her rubbing the spot she had hit.
"For thinking like that! God Mi-na! You can be so stubborn sometimes!" She rolled her eyes shaking her head.
"Sorry," I whisper with a small smile.
We were silent for a sec think about what we just had said before she spoke up again.
"But that's not all, isn't it?"
Pressing my lips together I shook my head.
"They weren't really the nicest people who ran the orphanage. I have seen a lot of bad and dark stuff in that place. I knew that at one point they wanted to get rid of me, so they sold me off to some man to get married. It came to a point that I just wanted out, so I ran when I was eighteen and could be free. I wanted to be as far as possible from that place. Just in case they would look for me"
"So you came here?" I nodded my head.
"I was so scared they would fine me even if I moved to a whole other continent." To be honest, I'm still scared, well I was until the whole ending of the world started.
They would be crazy if they still wanted to find me in this mess.
"I'm sorry you had to go through that stuff." I shrug my shoulders.
"It's fine. It's not like I knew something else than that life. I have been living there since I was a baby. Not having a memory of my parents may have helped having less pain. I have seen kids suffer while still remembering their birth parents. It wasn't pretty and I don't know if they would ever get over that." There were a lot of nights were new kids would cry for their parents. It was awful to hear to pain in their cries.
"You don't have anything from your parents?" She asked curious.
"My name and a book. When I was found I was wrapped in a blanket with a book. It was Bram Stoker's Dracula. One of the characters' names was Mina and in that book, the name was underlined or circled a bunch of times, so they guessed my name was that. But they just gave me a first name. I only got a last name when they made sure I wasn't claimed afterward and was sent to the orphanage, but the moment it ran away from there I changed my last name to Yun seeing I would come here. I almost changed my first name too, but I just kept it. Seeing it was the only thing I got from my birth parents." I lost that book a few years ago. Well, Miss Ward had taken it and I hadn't seen it sens then.
"Besides the horrible stuff that happened to you, I'm happy you moved here. It made living here more bearable." She put her hand out for me to take it with a small smile on her face.
"I'm happy too," I answer before grabbing it.
The moment my skin touched her a shock of pain shot through me. Somehow I knew that it was her pain.
"You're in pain," I mumble out looking her up and down trying to see if she was hurt.
She pulled her hand from mine looking shocked before her cold face came back.
"No, how would you even know that?" I shook my head trying to grab her hand again, but she pulled away out of my reach.
If I couldn't see an injury on her then it had to be her ankle. Before she could do something I grabbed her ankle and pulled her sock down. Her already injured ankle looked worse than it normally does.
"When did this happen?" I asked holding her back from pulling away from me.
She let out a groan when she saw that I wasn't going to let her go.
"It doesn't matter." I press my lips tightly together before carefully putting my fingers on the injured ankle.
'Take it.'
What?
'Take it, take the pain.'
I was so confused about what the voice meant, but for some reason, I knew what I needed to do.
I just thought about Eun-yu's injured ankle and the pain she was also in. Second later black veins appeared on the hand that was lying on her injury. I watch as it grows bigger quickly crawling up my arm underneath my sleeves.
The first thing I felt was cold, but it quickly changed to warmth the higher it got in my body. I could feel it spread through my veins, making my whole body warm.
I noticed that it gave me more energy. The feeling of tiredness and the ache of the headache I had been experiencing slowly went away.
"What the...." I snapped out of the trance when I heard Eun-yu mutter out loud.
Quickly I pulled my hand away scared she would run away or be scared of me.
"How.." She started but was cut off when Ji-su came running around the corner.
"Mi-na, we need you!"
I gave her a look of confusion, but that quickly vanished when she said the next words.
"It's Hyun-su. He's in trouble."

Here’s my rant on SWEET HOME SEASON 2 since no one else around me really watches it🫡 typos ahead
First thing first I’m not biased so practically all the characters pissed me off also I only now some of their names

*I was so glad that the boy who pressed the button died he got on my fucking nerves
*R.I.P Seok-chan can’t believe they killed my man🤧
*all of the soldiers were fucking dumb didn’t have any common sense, Their deaths could’ve been avoidable
*Like they were really fucking dumb^
*Im trying to give grace to the little boy and Yi-Kyung daughter cause they kids but they’re really aggravating.
*we should’ve seen more of Hyunsu 😚 my baby

*how did he survive being stoned? ^
*Eunyu been through hell and back also the people at the stadium need to leave her alone
* Eun-hyeok pls don’t be evil and try to kill your sister next season
*possibly evil but still look good as hell^

* Seok-Chan I miss you baby🤧
*seo-Jin I hate you and i hope you don’t make it to season 3
*also why would you just trust a random person who popped up out of nowhere?^
*I don’t think an actual solider would make the mistakes you did^
*I know jong-hyun wished he would’ve stayed at the stadium
*yong-Seok and his girlfriend also got on my nerves also why didn’t he warn them earlier
* Seok-Chan should’ve ran for the exit 🤧
