this is my first time doing this. so well. this is a little au that i started the other day and i thought it was going to be just a quick, fun thing but now i'm almost 6k in and nowhere near done. this is a curse that has been taken over me ever since i started writing firstprince fics, it seems like.

Henry is a terrible dancer, but after they had a couple of cocktails it gets slightly better, although he’s so bad all the alcohol in the world couldn’t really loosen him up completely. He doesn’t care, though, because Alex is all over him and never leaves his side. More people join the party and despite them being in an open space they find themselves pushed together closer and closer, but maybe it’s not really the amount of people around them, but rather a natural attraction, something like magnets. There’s a metaphor about the moon and the sea and the tides in there, but Henry is too busy staring at Alex to think clearly now. Unlike him, Alex moves so naturally to the music and he loves how contagious his enthusiasm is, and how he makes Henry sing along to the songs as well. There’s an old song Henry remembers vaguely from holidays when he was a kid when Bea and Philip would take him to the dancefloor and hold his hands and make him dance with them

well the fun thing about Hmmm is that it's actually just straight up smut lmao. the premise is catboys dnp uni professor phil x about-to-graduate dan smut in phil's office. it's the shortest of the bunch cuz it's a one-shot, and is surprisingly the only one on the list to feature catboys.

phoenix is fully-fledged enough that I can give u most of a little blurb! it's got about 20k, not counting the outline rn.

After dying at sea, Dan is reincarnated as a phoenix, stuck eternally putting up with an existence he only wants to escape. He struggles to find meaning in his life and come to terms with his role among the people of [location name tbd], who can't help but deify him. And then, a mysterious man shows up: an Elf from the veiled Albion--whose presence itself signals danger. As Dan investigates, he learns the Elf harbours a kind heart and a dangerous secret. Threats begin to converge from every angle, and Dan has to decide who he is--who he wants to be, [etc] (blurb isn't finished yet lmao but it gives the gist)

The title is tentatively Dogwood and Cherry Trees! it's set in a very forgotten realms-esque fantasy setting, though the locations are sneakily actually real. PJ is there as a traveling merchant who stops by regularly, there's a fortune teller, unicorns, some silly scenes, lots of angst and some whump, and dan's eternal quest to eat tasty food. The meat of the narrative takes place over a few decades, as Phil ducks in and out of the area Dan lives, trying not to stay in one place for too long for Reasons, but risking it for, well, you know.

"It's beautiful," Phil mused, almost absentmindedly. Dan looked over to see he held aloft a single leaf, still green, on the smaller side, and a little brown from the drought. He stared as if inspecting it closely.

"Hm?" Dan asked.

"It's just lovely. The tree, too." Phil continued rotating the leaf's stem slowly between his thumb and forefinger.

The air had shifted. Sometime in the last few minutes, the small hours of the night had arrived, the time for sentimentality, the time for truths. Dan swallowed.

He could—but no. One of them was keeping mysterious secrets, and it wasn’t Dan. It wasn’t Dan. It wasn’t.

Instead, Dan tilted his head up to regard the cherry tree. It looked just like all the other trees in the orchard. “It sure is a tree,” he joked after a moment.

Phil attempted to throw the leaf at him, but it fluttered against the air and landed next to Phil’s shoulder instead. “Stop it. You know what I mean.”

“Sure,” Dan agreed. “Nature is beautiful, and all that.”

Phil’s head lolled to the side to look at Dan. “You don’t get it?”

“No, I do,” Dan insisted. “It is pretty out here. But that doesn’t mean you’d catch me looking at a leaf like I want to kiss it,” he teased.

Surprisingly, Phil didn’t react, instead just turning back to look up at the sky through the sparse canopy. The silence felt awkward. Dan cursed himself. Why’d he have to always default to making stupid jokes? Couldn’t he lean into the [feeling in the air] and be serious for once?

But thankfully, Phil eventually replied. “I guess it’s different for me. It’s just, everything in the Kingdom is so different. It’s all curated, styled. Every tree or shrub or flower is picked out. But out here stuff just… grows. It just is.”

Dan gestured to the trees around them, growing in a small grid of straight-ish lines. “Phil, we’re in an orchard. It’s absolutely curated.” He’d done a lot of work curating it, in fact. “But,” he added before Phil could cut in, “I get what you mean. Out there.” He waved a hand towards the edge of the orchard, where the forest proper began.

“No, really, even here. Even the orchards in the Kingdom are pristine,” Phil said. “Not a blade of grass out of place.” He plucked the flower of a clover patch near him. “They’d never allow this to grow.” He paused. “I think you’d have to see it to really get it.”

Then Phil quieted for a while and continued to gaze at the sky above. Dan chose to stay quiet too, against his nature, hoping Phil might continue. He struggled to control his breathing, keeping it at a steady pace despite his heartbeat speeding up. Was he finally going to talk about the Albion?

Eventually, miraculously, Phil took a deep breath and began. “The buildings, the walkways, they’re made of cast stone. Moulded by a wizard to be perfectly shaped. The paths are lined with trees that are always in bloom, perfect grassy meadows, beautiful flowers. They get seeds from all over the world. Landscapers compete to make the prettiest and the rarest decorative plants. Leaves with weird colours, bigger and brighter flowers, making some of them tiny or maybe huge. Stuff like that.

“I heard we used to have a whole forest, but I don’t know how big it was. It’s not there anymore, not really. It’s like a big garden now. People go there and wander around and go on dates and mingle. It’s a destination, I guess. And caring for it is a full-time job, ‘cause it’d die without upkeep. I’ve seen it happen. Things can just—“ Phil made a poof motion with his hands, “—they can just crumble, once they’ve been changed. Like literally, into dust.

“But that’s normal in the Kingdom. Everything requires upkeep.” Phil shrugged. “And it really is pretty, definitely. But it’s so intentional. So of course it’s pretty; it’s supposed to be.

“But out here, everything just feels more real. [Loc name] is real. It just exists. No one carved it into existence. Anteios—the whole Albion, really—it’s nice, but it’s also just kind of boring.”

Dan absorbed every word. Phil hadn’t looked at him the whole time he’d talked, but Dan hadn’t been able to look away.

And as always, Dan felt like he understood Phil perfectly. “It’s not authentic,” he said.

Phil smiled gently towards the sky. “Yeah, exactly. It’s not authentic. Maybe that’s what everything here has. [Loc name] isn’t here for any particular reason, it’s just here. The people just look like themselves, not trying to perfect themselves with a glamour. The land, the people, that leaf, they’re all beautiful. I don’t think anything Albionian can ever be beautiful in the same way.”

As Dan gazed at Phil, and Phil gazed at the stars, Dan did not deny Phil’s claim aloud; but, heart racing, with the smallest, quietest voice hiding in the deepest part of his consciousness, Dan disagreed.

hello this is my mercy rant

yeah i h8 youtube comments lol. this got rlly long. and it’s not very like coherent but i was just like.......... annoyed.

it’s..... funny (read: awful)........... how quick people are to blame mercy players when they lose a match, be it their own mercy or the enemy team’s.

when players shit on the enemy mercy, they rlly only have themselves to blame, especially if they’re playing heroes like winston, tracer, or genji, who are all more than capable of attacking the backlines where mercy tends to be. like...... if it’s your job to single out mercy, and if your not doing it, who are you to complain about her?? if she’s charging her ult, hiding, and then rezzing her team because you didn’t kill her, it’s your own fault. mercy is only doing what she was designed to do. do i necessarily agree with hiding once i get ult with mercy??? no, but that’s just how a lot of people play, and if you or your teammates are lacking the map awareness to know when she has her ult and where she is, that’s your own issue. mercy’s rez is a wipe, so if your whole team wasted every one of their ults for a team kill, that’s your own bad planning,

while mercy may have a low skill ceiling and is generally pretty easy to learn, at least on a basic level, there’s a big difference between a good, competent mercy and a bad one. a bad mercy can easily lose you the game if they’re not healing or damage boosting right, or misuse their rez. but! a good mercy may do all of those things right - damage boost the right dps, correctly time tempo and group rezzes, get 25k+ healing - and still get blamed when the team loses. which is funny because, for overwatch being a teamwork based game, support mains are often the some of the only people who actually care for the team as a whole. 

now, i’m not shitting on like dps players as a whole, but i have had countless experiences where i am consistently left alone on the payload, left to walk from spawn only to be targeted by a tracer or a sombra every single time that i step out because my teammates would rather be greedy 50m in front of the payload than actually sit their asses on it; they’re more concerned about their k/d than actually like winning, so they turn around and blame the same person who has kept them alive the entire match. and also ??? Stop Expecting Mercy To Dive With You Holy Shit She Will Most Likely Die. mercy is not a dive healer !!! i’m not gonna follow your shiny genji ass !!

are there issues with mercy’s kit? yes. mercy’s rez is a very high reward ult that requires not a huge amount of mechanical skill because it’s capable of completely turning a fight on its head and you don’t even need to aim all that much. but being a good, competent mercy is more than just knowing when to hit q. it’s a lot more mental than that, keeping track of both your own and the enemy team’s ults, knowing who to heal and when to heal them and how much you should heal, being aware of the map so you don’t die. among other things.

and honestly?? what really grinds my gears are the people who call mercy mains “one tricks,” especially in the context of quick play, because like a. it’s quick play who actually cares that much and b. it’s a game !!! like you do you bro and play your own character. are “one trick” mercy mains frustrating in comp?? yeah, if they’re not flexible and don’t play other heroes when the situation calls for it, but like........ you gotta consider yourself too. mercy mains are hardly the only people who stick to a single hero in a match.

anyways, it’s Team Based and a Game so uh think a little deeper and maybe reconsider sending that hateful message because it’s never just one person’s fault and unless you’re like a Real Pro Gamer overwatch doesn’t affect you when you walk away from the screen. your boss won’t give a shit if you put “grandmaster on overwatch” in your resume.

What’s Elena’s role in each of the alternate universes Jinni makes in the first season?

okay so i know i technically just sent this to you on discord bc i needed your approval before letting anyone else see it lmao but still here we go ft. added details!!

Universe 1: Hope never came to the Salvatore School/Ripper Hope

Elena ran away when she was thirteen.  School is so much worse when she doesn't have hope yes that's also a metaphor and she can’t take it anymore so she just kind of leaves one night

After about a year on the run, she finds herself in New Orleans, where she meets Hope

Hope turns her into a vampire

but instead of just becoming a vampire, Elena turns into a siphon-vampire hybrid

Because Elena lost all of her own power before being born due to it all being siphoned out of her (and the mini merge), becoming a vampire essentially becomes a battery for her and she regains her magic

Like Hope, Elena is absolutely pissed at the world, and the two remain in New Orleans until the Saltzmans show up

Hope initially refuses to go with them because Elena refuses to go, and Hope won’t leave her, but something (tbd) happens that forces them to  

Universe 2: No Salvatore School

Elena and Josie don’t get along – Elena tries but Josie hates her 

Basically while Josie hates Lizzie for always ruining her life with her mental illness, she hates Elena because everything Josie wants comes so effortlessly to her (note, this is not the case in the primary universe but Elena thrives in human environments)

Lizzie is really shocked to realize that while she’s miserable and Josie is kind of a bitch, she has never seen Elena so happy

That being said, Elena is still extremely worried about Alaric all the time

She’s the one who convinces Alaric to work at the Mikaelson School because even though she loves normal school, she thinks that he deserves a shot at his dream

Hope flirts with her rather than Josie

Even at the Mikaelson School, Elena is much happier than Lizzie is used to her being, and gets treated with a lot more respect than she gets in their universe

Because of a combination of their leader also being one of a kind at the school and because Elena got a chance to actually make a first impression for once, people give her a chance that they never did in the real universe 

Universe 3: Hope was never born/Apocalypse

Chapter Title will be a les mis quote you can’t stop me (I’m debating between a few still)

Elena is basically some combination of Enjolras and Gavroche lmao

She’s sort of the heart of the revolution bc even without powers she's great at inspiring and motivating people and gives great speeches

She’s also the small child who really should not be there but will not leave

She’s sort of the token human and also a symbol of what they’re fighting for, because while supernaturals can at least fight back (in theory), Triad has proven that they have no qualms about attacking innocent humans either

While everyone else is super pissed at Lizzie, Elena is just relieved to see her

She also stays with Lizzie in the basement thing and believes Lizzie without hesitation when Lizzie tells her about the wishes

She promises Lizzie that she will always have her back, in any universe, and that no matter what fights they’ve had, she has always loved her

Before the fight breaks out, Elena goes back to rally the troops and give a speech 

Y’all are going to fully hate me for all the Les Mis references holy shit

but it’s my eternal obsession so I’m not sorry

the last thing Lizzie sees before Jinni sends her back to her world is Elena dying

the hawthorne family

okay so i’m way too lazy to make an image right now SORRY BOUT IT but here’s a quick request for prue’s family!!!  as always, hmu on discord @ oh hi mark#9407 if ur interested or just yell at me here, either way!!!

papa hawthorne was in the military, and ended up in london where he met mama andrews (now hawthorne!!!! also her brother is on the site so family!!!!!); they had all but their youngest child while living in london, and then moved back to columbus where papa hawthorne is originally from (reason tbd; pretty sure it’s because one of his parents were sick/dying).  let’s say that when the  second youngest was a year old, they packed up and moved to columbus.  you see, the hawthorne family has had a funeral home in their family for a few generations, and while their dad was in the military, when it came time for his familial duties, he took his family back to his own home.  from there, he took over the funeral home and had the youngest of the hawthorne children, and the funeral home is still run by them to this day.

summers were spent mostly in london with their mom’s family, and most of the kids still have a bit of a london accent because of it (maybe not the youngest, as he wasn’t around it as much as the others!!!).  the family had structure, but love; a military father, a christian upbringing, and being raised in a funeral home, well.... it created an interesting upbringing.  there was a lot of competition, lots of heckling, and honestly yeah there’s a lot of love.  but also the pressure to be perfect and presentable to the outside world.

read prue’s lil blurb - that’s linked above in her name! - for some backstory on her!!!!  she’s got four sons and is essentially the black sheep of the family.  the other kids have good, solid jobs and good heads on their shoulders.  honestly, if they actually have their shit all Good is up to you, but on the outside, everything looks picture perfect (or at least nearly picture perfect).  

prue never worked for the family business or anything until about two and a half years ago within the months the death of her husband  -- she has always worked odd jobs, random things, but she worked as a hairdresser for a few years up until she realized she had too much on her plate and came to work for the family. (she is also a mommy blogger but that’s just extra info and fun income!!!!)  in terms of at the funeral home, she does a little bit of everything, but her Official Title is that she’s an administrative assistant, doing a lot with bookkeeping and honestly just talking to people to make processes move smoothly and be a listening ear.  

saying that, i’d love it if at least one or two other siblings worked at the funeral home -- preferably one of the older ones, with the mindset of taking over the business when it needs to be handed over (because god knows they don’t want to see prue take it over hahahah stupid)

Bio

Risae was born in San Diego, California, to Korean-American parents. Most of her childhood was spent in the States, although much of her family on her father’s side lived in Korea, so it was imperative that she know how to speak Korean. Growing up, she loved watching hockey, baseball and football, and actually played softball for a few years herself, before discovering her love to perform. She sang in showers and in cars, she entered talent shows through her school, she took part in a choir when she was young; she even tried to make a band with some of her classmates when she was fourteen. Above all, her favourite thing to do was have freestyle battles with the boys in her class at recess. When she caught wind on Radioactive Entertainment’s global auditions, she knew it was her chance.

She was cast in the Los Angles audition when she was sixteen, and after waiting for a passport and other important documents, flew out to Korea half a year later and began training immediately. She focused on rap; it was what she was naturally good at. As an idol, though, she would need to be a little more well-rounded, so she trained vocally and in dance as well, although it was obvious to anyone and everyone where her real passions were. She trained for two and a hlaf to three years before being selected as the lead rapper and visual of Reign.

As the years went by, she began to dabble a little in a solo career- not like her leader did, but with just a single or too here and there. And in 2017, when Cyrah left Reign, Risae took her spot as the Main Rapper.

Risae and her stage persona Riko, are very different. Onstage, she is referred to the “Charisma Queen”, and she acts like it. She is commanding, intimidating, and very sexy. It’s almost impossible to take your eyes off of her. While she still seems to be the center of attention when the mask comes off, its because of her natural charisma, not intimidation techniques. She is generous, humble and quirky, and very fun to be around, albeit very very quiet and shy. It is very hard to dislike her. She is terrified of the global attention she’s getting from Reign picking up and her solo work, because she sees herself as unworthy and knows there are a lot of idols who are better than her, and when she thinks about all of that too much, she becomes very reserved and moody, but it never lasts long. Risae has a bad habit of cussing, that comes from the friends she had growing up, but she is trying to work on that and keep from swearing too much, as she wants to be a good role model for her younger fans, especially since her fanbase is growing. If she gets too stressed out, though, she reverts back to her old ways and needs to be censored, which means trouble from the PR department.

She’s not huge on the rivalry, but she understands it’s how business works.

Risae has recently put on a bit of weight (for idol standards), and while she’s comfortable and confident, she’s noticed a lot of backlash, and that her company is less and less willing to let her promote. Her goals are to smash any stereotypes and try to be a role model for younger girls.

I’d just like to start by clarifying that altho I do feel strongly about some of these opinions (& ive joked about them being unchangeable - which is not true, to be serious), that doesnt mean I don’t wanna hear y’all’s - do you agree w/ me on some & not the others? completely disagree? completely agree for different reasons? tell me (politely pls) & give me some of ur reasons! i think part of the intrigue of sorting our fav characters into hogwarts houses is that it tells us what we value in them & what traits of theirs stand out to us the most - and that subsequently makes it…. fairly subjective (also doesn’t help that the standards for each house are kind of……vague lol)

The Mighty Nein

Caleb - Ravenclaw; aside from the fact that he obviously values books & advancement of his own magical knowledge, he also seems to think through important decisions in a logical manner (ex. he spent a lot of time thinking about whether he & nott should stay w/ the rest of the mighty nein)

Fjord - Ravenclaw; again, besides the obvious, his interest in studying at the Soltryce Academy, he’s also really observant & intent on learning from those around him, given all the questions he’s asked Caleb & the way he keeps an eye on Jester’s divine magic

Molly - Hufflepuff; altho initially i had some mixed feelings about this, after giving it some thought, im actually most convinced of this one: as many have pointed out, he’s shaping up to be the Mom Friend & taliesin also says he has a moral code that he sticks to - i think being steadfast in the way youre gonna put good into the world (& in how u treat the evils & injustices) is very Hufflepuff  

Yasha - Slytherin; though I say this tentatively bc we haven’t seen a lot of her yet - she doesn’t seem like a traditional slytherin in a highly ambitions sense, but she does seem like to stick to her guns & prioritise herself when necessary (“I run into the woods”)   

Beau - Gryffindor; she strikes me as fight first, ask questions later kinda gal & going in guns blazing seems very Gryffindor to me - in addition, she also saved nott from that manticore, which struck me as reckless bravery consistent w/ gryffindors

Nott - Gryffindor; i spent some time thinking about this one after @matt-the-blind-cinnamon-roll gave some of their reasons for slotting nott as a hufflepuff - ultimately, I think nott’s a gryffindor despite the fact that she doesn’t consider herself brave is bc her actions speak louder than her words (“I cover Caleb’s body with my own” & “I kill the baby manticore”); the willingness to put urself at risk for the people u care about over and over even at ur own expense strikes me as a gryffindor trait (for better or worse, I might add - see my thoughts on Vax’ildammit)

Jester - look I……………………………..honestly don’t fuckin know. Hufflepuff? Slytherin? Idk ask me again in fifty episodes

Percy - Ravenclaw; initially i had percy as a Slytherin but i think once he got over the whole demon revenge thing he actually turned out to be pretty Ravenclaw - I mean, he does invent things, and he’s not interested at all in being in charge of Whitestone (also what kind of fuckin nerd learns Celestial for the fun of it lmao)

Vex - Slytherin; Lady Vex’ahlia, Baroness of the Third House of Whitestone and Grand Mistress of the Grey Hunt - she cares about the title & the money & with very good reason, i think - her ability to obtain what she wants & persevere through the tough times puts her in Slytherin (also - with trinket’s origin story - i think it takes some real fucking grit & confidence to dig urself out of that kind of situation on ur own)

Vax - Gryffindor; this one is a lot to unpack. @swiftbell & i have been arguing about this one on & off for awhile; she thinks Vax is a Hufflepuff (& she has good reason to). there’s a lot of debate about whether hogwarts house are based on who u are vs who u want to be/strive to be & while i think arguments based on the latter r fine, i tend to base mine on the former in this list bc its easier to see actions than try to parse out thought

so that being said, i think Vax is a gryffindor bc while he cares deeply about his found family, he doesn’t exactly place a high price on his own safety; he goes in first, he goes in stupidly, he almost gets himself killed a lot - that kind of drive toward self sacrifice, to me, falls under the reckless bravery of a gryffindor

(as I said to steph: a hufflepuff would die for their loved ones if they absolutely had to, but a gryffindor tends to look at it as one of their first choices - also vax reminds me a lot of sirius black but im gonna stop right here to avoid turning this post into a vax character analysis)

Grog - Gryffindor; grog doesn’t do much thinking, he just does (& im not saying all gryffindors don’t think - obviously many do (@ hermione granger)- but i do they’re the types of people most prone to falling into the trap of not thinking things thru) it’s almost like the opposite of vax’s problem except we’re not talking about vax anymore bc this isnt a vax character study

Keyleth - Gryffindor; i feel like im beating a dead horse here but kiki also doesn’t always think things through & is very prone to action; the difference between her brand of gryffindor as opposed to vax’s & grog’s is that her outcomes are a little more mixed bag

Pike - Hufflepuff; i think pike is a hufflepuff for a lot of the same reasons i think molly is… which is a little surprising so just bear with me a second; she’s very devoted to Sarenrae, which sets up her (mostly) clear perspective of the world and how she should exist & treat people in it; she’s less of a mom friend (altho she still has some of those qualities), and she’s as loyal to her own causes as she is to Vox Machina; she also tends to be very kind & fun-loving w/out being a pushover

Scanlan - im a huge fan of scanlan, which probably means i should have some momentous opinion here…………….but I don’t, I really don’t know - i think once i get to some key points in scanlan’s character development (which i think are coming up in the next like 15 episodes or something), i’ll have a clearer thought

Tiberius - im not sure i remember tiberius well enough to make a full judgment, but I would say Ravenclaw probably if i had to bc of his constant interest in intelligence & learning to be a better sorcerer
