I was shocked when I listened to Real Madrid Official Anthem - Hala Madr...
The theme of the song "Hala Madrid y Nada Más" is pride and support for the Real Madrid football club.
The title itself translates to "Come on Madrid...and nothing else" which captures the essence of the song. It expresses unwavering devotion to the team.
The lyrics aren't from the club's very first official anthem, but rather a more recent one created to celebrate a specific victory. However, it  reflects the overall sentiment that many fans feel  -  that Real Madrid is the greatest and there's nothing else quite like it.

Tablao Show Experience: El Yiyo, the Star of the Stage
Irving, Texas, October 27th
On a Sunday night, at the late hour of Nine o’ clock, Consuelo and I traversed to the Irving Arts Center to attend a live performance of an Authentic Flamenco Show in the DFW area. Presented courtesy of the Royal Opera of Madrid Institution, we had the opportunity to experience flamenco professionals traveling all the way from Madrid, Spain. Five members all contributed their individual unique elements from the genre to produce an immersive experience of Spanish Culture. However, two of the members in particular stood out to my developing musicianship; the dancer El Yiyo, and the Guitarist.
At 9PM on the dot, three individuals began their production behind the opening curtain; a man sitting on a beat box creates the starting rhythm, with silent strumming from the guitarist annexing to create a gallop. To accompany, one man starts their story in the middle-eastern influenced Spanish singing style found in traditional Flamenco shows. Suddenly, the scene flares up to bring in lights, colors, and sounds. The music becomes lively and introduces the expectations to be had with the upcoming El Yiyo.
El Yiyo follows the entrance with no accompaniment. His fierce presence and use of two walking sticks combine to create a solo rhythm captivating the audience to lean into what he is to do next. His foot taps establish a perplexing rhythm unimaginable to consider as a solo exhibition. Following comes a woman, reintroducing the troupe to serenade her opening. The claps initiated with the audience brings an inclusive experience to make one feel part of the show, further displaying the beauty she brought to the scene.
The nimble strumming represented the crucial importance of the right hand, utilizing the index, middle, ring (anular), and even the pinky fingers (at times), as well as the thumb (pulgar). Utilizing dexterity in each finger allowed for another dimension to be added to the music that embodies the flamenco genre. The enhancement makes simple chord progressions feel so dense with expression.
The agile arpeggios in the higher frets of the guitarist paired with the oscillation and passionfelt chants of the singer made for some beautiful storytelling. Around the halfway point the singer and the guitarist create a conversation amongst themselves, with the guitarist using the notes to respond to the cries let out from the singer. He then utilizes the bass in the arpeggios to create a soft cry of his own, leaning into the notes he’s creating to express the emotion. The dynamics slowly build up to become a shout of feelings, reflected in the loud and punctual strums from the guitarist. After the burst of shouts, abruptly both the musicians back off into a soft, endearing ending.
Continuing the show out until the end, El Yiyo’s dramatic and flamboyant essence are appreciated by all and embraced by the crew to accentuate his skillful dances. The guitarist complexes El Yiyo’s brisk rhythm with silent strumming and resonance tapping on the body of the guitar. The matched energy derived from the passing rhythm between the entire crew of musicians, all looking towards each other at different points of the show to catch and create the tempo of the show.
The performers end the show with a sense of pure excitement to derive the feelings of being a kid again. The clapping anthems of all the participants and audience brought together a full circle experience to slam down the lights. A last minute hoorah and celebration brought this exciting journey and celebration to a close, leaving me another slice of Spanish brilliance.
