Book Review...The Lost Storyteller by Amanda BlockRebecca hasn't seen her father Leo since she was six. All she knows is that, once upon a time, he was a well-loved children's TV star. But when a journalist turns up asking questions about her father, Rebecca starts to wonder whether there is more to Leo's absence. Looking for answers, she unearths a book of fairy tales written by Leo and dedicated to her but what use are children's stories to her now, all these years later?Tentatively, Rebecca tries to piece together her father's life. Yet her mind keeps returning to the fairy tales. Perhaps they are the key to unlocking the mystery of her father, the lost storyteller; to revealing who he was, what he went through and even where he might be now.I really enjoyed this story! It takes a deep look into the bonds between a parent and their children and the effects mental illness can take on these relationships. The fairy tales written by Leo were wonderful and probably one of my favorite parts! They are dark, mysterious, magical and full of secrets! The characters have depth and are complex but my favorite was Leo. He really shines in this story. His love and dedication to his daughter was a beautiful thing to read about. It's a heartwarming story of family, love and hope! Thank you Mobius and Amanda Block for sharing this beautiful story with me!

Book Review…The Life We Almost Had by Amelia Henley Anna wasn’t looking for love when Adam swept her off her feet but there was no denying their connection, and she believed they would be together forever. Years later, a cruel twist of fate delivers a crushing blow, and Anna and Adam are completely lost to one another. Now, Anna needs Adam more than ever, but the way back to him has life-changing consequences. Is a second chance at first love really worth the sacrifice? I don't want to give anything away but when I started reading this book I expected one thing and got something completely different! It was a pleasant surprise! It's a story that is both heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. The author covers some heavy topics such as loss, grief, infertility and much more! Following along with Anna and Adam as they face that and much more is an emotional ride. Anna was a wonderful character and my heart went out to her and I'm sure yours will as well. Adam was a sweetheart. You could feel his love for Anna! It's a wonderful story and Anna and Adams' story will be with you long after the last page! Book Review...Secrets of a Rose by Adina Chiles A kingdom built with secrets is bound to unravel. During the month of Amira, the silver moon emerges, and the kingdom of Zyra comes alive with anticipation for its annual ball. Mellana Goodwick, finally at the rightful age of sixteen, receives her first invitation, but Mellana finds herself caught in a strange storm. To make matters worse, the kingdom comes under attack by Prince Lorian, a man removed from the line of succession for murdering his sister, the future queen, and her newborn child. With the power to see glimpses of the future, Rose warns Mellana of hidden powers the kingdom has covered up and Lorian’s desire to unleash them all. Rose instructs Mellana to gather the sacred article from each of the seven kingdoms before Lorian. Together, the items unlock a barrier that is meant to stay shut. In order to keep what she loves, she must embark on a race against the person who dares to threaten it all. Secrets of a Rose is a great start to a new fantasy series! It was fast paced and packed with mystery adventures, secrets and friendship! I really enjoyed the characters and their bonds! The world building was wonderful! The descriptions were vivid and beautiful! The twists were interesting! Overall it was a great read! It has so many things a reader looks for in a fantasy! I'm looking forward to reading more about Mel and her friends and where the series will go next! Book Review…The Lifestyle by Taylor Hahn Georgina Wagman has it all a great marriage, a great job at a prestigious law firm, and great friends. She’s living the life she always wanted, and everything is perfect. Until, that is, she walks in on her husband Nathan in a compromising position with a junior associate. Georgina has a moment of crisis. But divorce is not a part of the five-year plan, so she comes up with an idea to save her marriage and recapture the spark. She and Nathan are going to become swingers. Her plan is foolproof, until she runs into a college ex at the first party. When they reconnect, Georgina will find herself torn between her head and her heart, with her very happiness hanging in the balance. This was a good read! The characters are good; they are each trying to solve their own issues. Georgina is messy and has her flaws but she's really just trying to find herself and find happiness on her own terms. The pace was steady and the writing was great. But I did have problems staying with it so it took me a little longer to finish than it normally does. I don't really know why because I can't think of anything I didn't like other than I do wish there was more romance. But other than that it's entertaining and a fun read! Book Review…A Letter in the Wall by Eileen BrillIt’s 1971, and Joan Dumann fears her former business partner wants her dead—but her anxiety is less about dying than it is about feeling disrespected and invalidated. As she constructs a letter about her predicament, she revisits her past.
A Letter in the Wall is based on a letter written by the real Joan that was found in the Wall of a Pennsylvania home more than half a century later. I was able to hear the author speak about this book. The way she actually found the letter in the wall of the home she was living in and I couldn't wait to read it! We follow Joan from her early childhood through marriages, her mother's death, and the birth of her own children. Joan's character is realistic and complex and at times it was hard to like her but I also had moments where I felt bad for her. Overall I truly enjoyed this story, it's emotional and captures the life of a woman that I'm sure many of us will be able to relate to in our own way!
Thank you Get Red PR and Eileen Brill for sharing this book with me!

Book Review…Local Gone Missing by Fiona Barton Elise was a successful detective before a medical leave left her unsure if she would return. Now she spends most of her days watching the tensions grow in the seaside town of Ebbing. The weekenders are renovating the old homes & the locals do not like the changes. Everything comes to a head when a newcomer wants to have a giant music festival that will put the town on the map & two teenagers overdose. When a man disappears the first night of the festival it draws Elise back to work. But Ebbing is a town full of secrets & connections that run deeper & darker than Elise could have ever imagined. This was an intriguing mystery. When it first starts it seems like a straightforward mystery but when the lies, connections & twists come it becomes very complex. It's told from multiple points of views & the timeline moves from past to present. But the moving timeline just gives you a clearer picture of everyone involved. It has a lot of parts & a lot of characters but the author brings it together nicely. I like Elise's character. She's intelligent, strong & determined. & her neighbor Ronnie was a lot of fun. She added some humor to the story. The pace is one that speeds up as everything starts happening & coming together which leads to a satisfying ending! Meet the Author Fiona Barton's debut, The Widow, was a Sunday Times & New York Times bestseller & has been published in 36 countries & optioned for television. Born in Cambridge, Fiona currently lives in Sussex & south-west France. While working as a journalist, Fiona reported on many high-profile criminal cases & she developed a fascination with watching those involved, their body language & verbal tics. Fiona interviewed people at the heart of these crimes, from the guilty to their families, as well as those on the periphery & found it was those just outside the spotlight who interested her most #FionaBarton #LocalGoneMissing #mysteryread #books #read #booklover #RandomThingsTours #bookreview #berkleypub #booktours #reader #detectivestory #penguinrandomhouse #booksy #bookish #bookrecommendation #bookstagram #instabooks #instareads #readstagrammer https://www.instagram.com/p/CeyT0HDptIL/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Book Review…Empire's Heir by Marian Thorpe Some games are played for mortal stakes. Gwenna, heir to Ésparias, is summoned by the Empress of Casil to compete for the hand of her son. Offered power and influence far beyond what her own small land can give her, Gwenna’s strategy seems clear – except she loves someone else. Nineteen years earlier, the Empress outplayed Cillian in diplomacy and intrigue. Alone, his only living daughter has little chance to counter the Empress's experience and skill. Aging and torn by grief and worry, Cillian insists on accompanying Gwenna to Casil. Risking a charge of treason, faced with a choice he does not want to make, Cillian must convince Gwenna her future is more important than his – while Gwenna plans her moves to keep her father safe. Both are playing a dangerous game. Which one will concede – or sacrifice? This is the sixth book for the Empire's Legacy series and so far each book has been a fantastic read and this book is no different! I have come to really enjoy all of the characters! Each of them has grown and changed throughout the series! The writing is fantastic! The world that Marian Thorpe has created is amazing! I love the balance that Thorpe has created between the realistic feel and the fantasy and adventure! I dropped mine at the #newburghheightsohio location! The Latecomer follows the story of the wealthy, New York City-based Oppenheimer family, from the first meeting of parents Salo and Johanna, under tragic circumstances, to their triplets born during the early days of IVF. As children, the three siblings – Harrison, Lewyn, and Sally – feel no strong familial bond and cannot wait to go their separate ways, even as their father becomes more distanced and their mother more desperate. When the triplets leave for college, Johanna, faced with being truly alone, makes the decision to have a fourth child. What role will the “latecomer” play in this fractured family? Pubday Review….Magician of Light by J. Fremont One of the most innovative designers of his time, René Lalique was a leader in the decorative arts. Magician of Light begins in his adolescent years in Paris as a striving apprentice. Meanwhile, across the channel, Lucinda Haliburton's grandfather suggests that she visit his archaeological dig in Egypt to escape her dysfunctional family and history of mental illness. But the trip ends in disaster, and Lucinda returns to England with the belief that she is being preyed upon by ancient Egyptian spirits. When Rene crosses paths with Lucinda his fascination with Egypt sparks a connection and romance blooms. But it's complicated by Lucindas metal condition. Overactive imagination, insanity, or a real haunting? Will their love see them through? Magician of Light touches on the truth of Lalique’s illustrious life, the people most important to him, and the anguish of some of those personal relationships, creating a unique view of his real life and a compelling storybook love story. This was such a fascinating read! I never heard of Rene Lalique before this book so it was quite interesting to learn so much! The reader gets an indepth look as Rene discovers a supernatural side of life with spirits real or imagined, love, betrayal and mental illness. This book really sucked me in! The written is fantastic but the way the author blended the mystical elements with the real life and still giving us characters that are easy to feel for and relate to was amazing! It's deep meaning full and a book you won't be able to put down but will stay with you long after the very last page! Truly an amazing read! Thank you Books Forward and J. April Wrap Up! April has been a fun month for us, busy but fun! We tried a few new authors this month and a couple of new series! When you decide to read a series do you wait till all or most of the books are out? As a group we read them as they come out but personally I like to wait till a few of them are out. That way I have 2 or 3 books to hold me over till another comes! There were some fantasy, mystery, historical fiction and my favorite true crime! Next month I'd like to throw in a new genre! Something we haven't read in a while, maybe a rom-com or horror! Any suggestions? #books #bookrecommendations #reads #booklover #bookclub #groupreads #booknerd #bookreviewer #bookstagram #bookaddiction #monthlywrapup #bookishpost #bookish #Bibliophile #Booksy #BookWorm #BookLove #GoodReads #BookCommunity #readingisfun #ReadersOfInstagram #readstagram #igbooks #readstagrammer #bookstagrammer #igread #booksbooksbooks #readreadread #booknerdigan #ThePageLadies (at Cleveland, Ohio) https://www.instagram.com/p/CdAZ09_u0Qk/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
