Hearing His voice...

“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”  Romans 10:17

We hear the voice of our parents calling us home as children, we hear the voice of our manager asking us to complete a project by a certain date, we hear the voice of our spouse asking for help with preparing dinner, we hear the voice of a friend asking for advice…but do we hear the voice of God calling us to follow Him?

In order to hear God’s voice direct our paths, we must spend time with Him.  Just as a relationship with a spouse, friend or coworker only grows through communication and time together, the same is true for our relationship with God.  The more time we spend reading the Word, thanking Him for His blessings and asking for guidance in prayer, and being open to the movement of the Spirit throughout the day, the more we will hear God’s voice. It’s all about time spent with Him, and being attentive to His voice as we walk with Christ.
