Moments later Mister Filch ran through the corridor of the great hall with his face covered in pimples.

He ran straight to Professor McGonagall who was supervising the students.

“Yes, keep your distance from him for a while” Lily got up and before she took off she turned around and said, “Oh and don’t do anything stupid in the meantime”.

Lily found Remus quick. He was sitting on the stairs.

Lily saw you walk towards Remus so she waited for you to leave.

“Remus?” – you asked concerned “Are you alright?”.

Once he heard your voice he faced you immediately “Y/n?”.

You seated yourself next to him “Did something happen?”.

He sighed “nothing for you to worry about Y/n”.

“Remus, are you sure you are alright?” – you asked placing your hand on his knee.

He looked at your hand for a second and then he spotted Lily standing behind a pillar.

He immediately pushed your hand of him and turned away from you.

You were surprised by his sudden action.

“Remus?” – you said soft.

“Just leave Y/n” – he snapped at you.

You stood up and looked at him one more time before you walked away.

Remus walked away and started to look for you.

He found you after a while at the courtyard.

You were sitting on a bench sobbing.

You placed your hand on his knee “You can tell me Remus”.

Request: Hi I love your writing! I was hoping to request a ReaderxRemus! Maybe where reader is hufflepuff and gender neutral? (But they dont have to be!!) Something about reader training to be a nurse at Hogwarts under Pomfrey and helping Remus when he's in the hospital wing after transformation? Or maybe they became class partners and get to know each other then? (Also having easy access to the kitchens as a hufflepuff= chocolate and cookies??) I'm fine with really any xRemus, tbh lol Thank you!!

A/N: this is just,,, pure fluff,,, I don’t know what else to say. Also, Professor Sprout and Helga Hufflepuff are the only two known Hufflepuff heads of house on the wiki so I didn’t name them, oops! But shy remus will always have my heart <3

You weren’t sure how long you’d been in love with Remus Lupin, but sometime between the sorting ceremony and now, you’d been struck with Cupid’s arrow. But if you were being honest, the amount of times you had actually talked to him were close to zero, and you both were graduating next year. 

Needless to say, you were absolutely, positively screwed. 

You’d discussed careers with your head of house in your fifth year, saying that you were interested in becoming a healer. The head had been pleased to hear that, knowing that you excelled both in herbology and potions. Almost immediately, you started helping Madam Pomfrey on the weekends, assisting when Quidditch matches went awry (as they were wont to do).

One Saturday morning, you walked in to find Madam Pomfrey anxiously awaiting your arrival. “Good, you’re here. I was hoping that you could get a little practice with healing a few scratches. Poor Remus had a rough night.” Your eyes widened, your footsteps quickening as you walked into the ward. 

There, on a stretcher, was one Remus Lupin. 

“(Y/N) is going to help you today. I’ll make sure they don’t make anything worse.” Madam Pomfrey told him. 

Remus looked at you and your yellow sweater. “Hufflepuff, aye?” 

Your cheeks reddened but before you could reply properly, Madam Pomfrey snapped for your attention. “Look at the way I move my wand when I do it. Episkey.” She said, pointing towards one of the gashes on Lupin’s face. “Now, try.” You nodded, taking a deep breath and pointing your wand to another open wound. 

“Episkey.” You said with calm confidence. You watched as the skin sealed together perfectly.  

“Wonderful, (Y/N). Go on.” You continued healing the cuts up and down his body. Luckily, there weren’t any close to the private areas, but your face was still red as a tomato when you finally stepped back. 

“Good. Stay with Remus while I fetch his food. (Y/N), have you eaten?” You merely shook your head at the question and she tsked. 

“I thought we discussed the importance of eating habits.” She said but left it at that, walking out of the ward. 

“Thank you for helping me.” Remus said after she was gone. “I’m not used to someone other than Madam Pomfrey healing me at school.” 

“It’s only temporary, and I’m sorry if it was uncomfortable for you-” You rambled, bowing your head quickly. “Merlin, I need to stop talking.” 

“I don’t mind.” Lupin sat himself up slightly. “You’re in my year, aren’t you? A Hufflepuff?” You rose your head shyly, nodding. “And your name is (Y/N)?” 

“We were partners in potions in second year.” You reminded him quietly. “James and Sirius blew theirs up all the time, and always wanted your help.” You smiled. 

“I knew you were familiar. Sorry, my memory’s shot.” He shook his head.

The two of you spent the rest of the day talking. No one else appeared in the ward for the afternoon, and Madam Pomfrey hid a knowing smile as she sat at her desk. 

After that, Remus seemed to gravitate towards you, so much so that eventually the other Marauders asked you to sit with them at every possible meal. You were still shy as ever, but slowly, you began to open up to them. And in return, Remus opened up to you. 

By the end of your sixth year, Remus had told you about why he had been in the hospital wing that morning. You had known for a while now, being informed by Madam Pomfrey, but you only raised an eyebrow. 

“You know that chocolate really helps after a transformation like that?” He only looked at you in shock at your response. “I’m serious.” 

“Y-you still want to be my friend?” 

I want more than that. You thought to yourself. “Of course I want to be your friend. Why wouldn’t I?” 

“W-well..” 

“I’m assuming the others know too.” 

“Yeah.” 

“And they’re still your best friends.” You pointed out. “Why would it be any different than me?” 

“Uh..” 

“Do you want to come with me to the kitchens to get chocolate?” You asked suddenly, standing up. “Or butterbeer?” 

He looked up at you. How could you be so sweet about this whole thing? In the short time you’d been friends, he’d witnessed so much kindness from you. He wasn’t sure what he did to deserve it, but he was happy nonetheless. 

He simply nodded, slipping his hand in yours as you made your way to the kitchens. It was a simple act, but it had both of your hearts racing. Still, neither of you could bring yourselves to let go of the other’s hand. 

When you had gotten your chocolate and found a window seat in one of the corridors, you looked down at your feet. “Speaking of confessions, I think I have one to make too.” You said, so quietly that he almost didn’t hear you. “I have a crush on you.” You bit your lip, looking at him for a reaction.

Remus looked at you, eyes wide. How could you love someone like him? Mere minutes ago, he’d confessed that he was a werewolf, and yet, you decided to tell him about your crush in spite of that. 

“It’s okay if you don’t feel the same way, or anything. I mean, I don’t expect you to, and I know we’ve only been friends for a little while and you probably don’t feel the same because who would, you know? But I’ve had this stupid crush on you since, Merlin, second year, and we’re graduating next year and I thought you ought to know-” 

Remus Lupin tasted like chocolate and cinnamon, you decided, as his lips met yours, carefully and gently. You wanted more the moment you broke apart, looking at each other cautiously. 

“What now?” He asked, a small smile gracing his features. You loved that smile, where his eyes shined. He looked at you with that smile as if you were the center of the universe. The thought made your cheeks redden, but you stepped even more out of your comfort zone when you answered his question.

“I think you’re going to have to kiss me again.”

26. My heart is racing

You sighed softly as you stared at the books in Waterstones. You weren't quite sure what you wanted to buy, but Merlin only knew how much you needed a good story to distract you from the horrors of the wizarding world.

Thanks to a grandma being a witch, you were technically classed as a half-blood. It was a minor saving grace given the purge against muggleborns. It was a safety net you had to cling to inbetween setting up safe houses for your muggle relatives just in case the tides turned against you as well. You knew things would have to come to a head sooner or later, but being limited to propaganda in the Daily Prophet and reports of disappearances, there was very little informative news to be had. In the meanwhile, you lived in fear that each day would be your last.

A book cover caught your eye in the classics section, and you found yourself pulling Pride and Prejudice down from the shelf. You hadn't actually read it yourself, but you were familiar with the story. Your ex-boyfriend, Remus Lupin, had given it to Lily as a birthday present in sixth year. He'd known she wanted to read it and, having read it himself, felt it would be a rather poignant gift in regards to her attitude towards one Mr James Potter.

You flipped the book over, reading one of Mr Darcy's famous lines that was situated in the middle in place of the blurb. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you. James had ended up quoting that to Lily many times during seventh year, soon stopping after Lily started calling him Mr Collins every time he did so. It was a fond memory for you, even with the pain of missing your school friends.

You had always intended to read the book, but never quite been able bring yourself to do so when Remus suddenly broke up with you at the end of seventh year.

Your eyes filled with tears and your hurriedly blinked them away. It still hurt to think about. You'd had no idea that Remus was planning to end the relationship. You'd been so excited for the end of the year, wanting to introduce him to your family. Those dreams were shattered, and you never knew the real reason as to why he'd done it.

Oh he told you it was because he was a werewolf and it was dangerous and that he'd never be able to support you financially, but you knew they weren't the real reasons. It was probably him being a martyr so he could fight more proactively in the war. He wouldn't be content to live as you did, just trying to carry on with day to day life but always ready to run and hide at a moment's notice.

"Y/N?" It took you a moment to register that you had really heard Remus' voice and that it wasn't just your imagination from the unexpected trip down memory lane. You looked up, finding him standing a few steps away. He didn't look well; his clothes were shabbier than you had ever seen them, there were deep shadows under his eyes, and he was littered with more scars.

"Remus," you whispered breathlessly, clearing your throat as you tried to move past your surprise. "It's good to see you again."

"And you. Are you well?" He asked, stepping closer to you uncertainly, as though he was no longer sure if was welcome in your personal space.

You smiled softly, nervously releasing the book with one hand to tuck a stray strand of hair behind your ear. "I'm as well as can be expected what with..." You trailed off. He would understand what you meant, and besides that you were in a muggle bookshop and could hardly make reference to a current war in Britain.

Remus nodded awkwardly before catching sight of the book you were holding. He gently took it from your hands, flicking through it with a nostalgic smile in place.

"Do you want to get a drink? There's a café just upstairs. My treat." You hoped he'd agree, and smiled in relief when he caved at the hopeful expression on your face when he finally tore his gaze from the book he now held. You led him to the cafe, where you both ordered cups of tea and you also bought two double chocolate chip muffins to entice him into staying longer.

There was a slightly awkward silence after you'd both gotten comfortable at the table for two you'd selected, neither of you quite knowing what was a safe topic to discuss. That silence broke as you both made a bit more small talk, assured each other that your families were safe and well, and mourned the loss of mutual friends. James and Lily were married now, apparently, and it hurt more than you thought it would to acknowledge that when Remus broke things off with you, you'd stopped hearing from the other marauders and Lily and her friends too. Such a resurgence in pain led to you asking the question that had weighed on your mind for a year.

"Why did you really break up with me, Rem? And please be honest this time," you pleaded, not at all remorseful at the abrupt shift in conversation.

Remus looked like a deer caught in headlights, a resemblance that would have would have made you laugh at any other time but now just brought tears to your eyes. Seeing how upset you were, Remus' expression softened and he took hold of your hands in his.

"I was asked to go undercover with the... the other people that have my condition." He looked around anxiously, making sure no one would overhear this conversation. "I know you think me a man, but I am dangerous, and the others who have nothing left to lose are even more so. I didn't want you to get targeted even more. You're already on this ice as far as You-Know-Who's lot are concerned."

You looked at your hands, fingers firmly wrapped around Remus', and could help but bitterly think that you were right. He was being a martyr, on the front lines while you stayed home like a coward. "I love you, Remus. I wish you'd just told me what was going on."

Remus' breath caught in his throat and he stared at you wide-eyed. "You still love me?"

"Of course I do, you numpty. I'll never stop."

Remus opened and shut his mouth like a fish out of water, looking so completely bewildered and lost that you couldn't stop the watery laugh that escaped. The sounded seemed to change something in Remus, who nodded firmly as if he had made some big decision.

You watched, confused, as he suddenly stood up and moved around the table until he was next to you. His hands cupped either side of your face almost reverently, and before you could question what he was doing, he leant and kissed you soundly.

You were breathless by the time he eventually pulled away, and more than a few people had clearly stopped to watch was going on before carrying on with their lives.

Remus didn't move far away after the kiss ended, simply kneeling on the floor and tilting your head down to keep your foreheads pressed together. "I was an idiot for breaking up with you."

"You were, but you were trying to keep me safe. My idiot," you teased, smiling when he gave you another peck on the lips.

The tables turned when he used his superior hearing to tease you back. "I can hear your heart racing," he smiled smugly, pleased he still had such an impact on you. You shoved his shoulder lightly, an embarrassed flush starting to form even as he laughed and rubbed his nose against yours. "It's okay. My heart is racing too."

You both knew this wasn't an automatic fix. There were still risks to getting back together, but at the end of the day you gave each other a million new reasons to keep fighting, to keep hoping that Voldemort would be defeated soon. In the words of Jane Austen, distance is nothing when one has a motive.

He frowns and opens his mouth to protest, but you lean down and kiss him, cutting him off. He reaches up and tangles his fingers in your hair, completely willing to let go of the argument. You tilt your head and deepen the kiss, gripping his robes. He pulls you forward and you straddle him, grinding down against his growing erection.

His head falls back and his mouth goes slack as he comes, body stiffening beneath you. You smile and kiss his neck, letting him come down.

“I love you,” he gasps out, holding you close.

You laugh, “You just like that I make you feel better after your transformations.”

He shakes his head, “No, really. I love you.”

You look him in his eyes, then smile, “I love you too, Remus. Now go get changed, I’ll see you fifth hour.”

He nods and you go back to your dorm, both of you in considerably better moods.

Something about reader training to be a nurse at Hogwarts under Pomfrey and helping Remus when he's in the hospital wing after transformation? Or maybe they became class partners and get to know each other then? (Also having easy access to the kitchens as a hufflepuff= chocolate and cookies??) Yule Ball ( Reader x Young!Remus)

The Yule ball was only weeks away and every student was excited about it.

Everyone was rushing around to find a perfect partner or to finally ask that one person out.

It was obvious for James that he would go with Lily since they were dating. Sirius would just wing a girl he fancies at the time.

At the tables of the great hall the marauders were gathered around. James was sitting next to Lily with his arm around her on the opposite of them sat Remus and Sirius.

“So, who are you taking to the yule ball?” – Lily asked Sirius.

He shrugged his shoulders “I guess Cecilia”

Everyone frowned “I thought you fancied Georgina?” – Remus asked him confused.

Sirius laughed “That was last week, keep up Remus” – he added patting him on the back.

You entered the great hall with your friends. Sirius nudged him and he looked straight at you.

You waved at him and he waved awkward back.

“So, when are you going to ask Y/n out?” – Lily asked Remus when she noticed his behaviour.

“What …” – He asked confused turning his attention to her.

Lily rolled her eyes and the others laughed.

“Just ask her to the Yule ball” – Lily said again.

“I …I can’t” – Remus stuttered.

“Why not?” – James asked pulling Lily closer to him.

“Because I’m scared” – he said soft, lowering his head.

“Remus, ask her out before someone else does” – Sirius said furious.

“Alright … Alright” – he said laughing “I’ll ask her but it has to be special”.

the next class was Potions. You stood diagonal from Remus and his friends.

You were preparing your potion when a note landed on your desk. You frowned and looked quick around to see from who it was.

No one seemed to give you attention so you grabbed the note and read on the front “open when your alone”.

You pressed the note against your chest and smiled, finding it sweet that someone gave you a note.

After class your friends asked you to come with them to their common room.

“You can go without me” – you said luring them away “I … I have something to do first.”

They all giggled and left you alone.

You sat yourself down at the bottom of the stairs and took the note from your pocket.

Remus had followed you from class and was now hiding behind a pole to see your reaction.

You took a deep breath and quickly looked one more time around to see if you could spot someone.

You opened the note and immediately little hearts sparked out of it. You were amazed and a huge smile appeared on your face when the hearts surrounded you.

Remus was smiling from afar and watched your reaction closely.

You then looked down and read the note “You are the most beautiful and talented witch I ever met”

An even bigger smile appeared on your face and you quickly kept reading.

“Y/n do you want to go to the Yule ball with me, signed Remus Lupin”.

You almost cried of joy, and pressed the note against your chest, holding it close to your heart.

Remus came out of his hiding place and walked over to you.

You were surprised you didn’t expected him to be here “Remus” – you said quickly standing up.

He gave you a goofy smile and you wiped some tears away.

“Y/n” – he said soft “Did you like the note” – he asked cautious.

“I loved it Remus” – you said still holding it close to your heart.

“I loved every single bit of it” – you said smiling “but how did you make those hearts?”

He smiled at you and wiggled a bit with his head “That’s a secret”.

You smiled proud at him back.

“So…” – he started “what do you say Y/n?”.

You wanted to react but he responded again “It’s okay if you don’t want to, I understand but I hope you say yes but I understand if you are already going with …” – Remus kept babbling.

You tried to interfere but it was useless so you placed a soft kiss on his cheek and he immediately stopped talking.

“I love to go with you to the Yule ball” – you said smiling.

Remus was a bit shocked by the kiss “Alright … “– he said.

“I will see you then Y/n” – he said placing his fists calmly against the wall.

“I mean not like I’m not going to see you in the days between … but you know what I mean”.

“I understand” – you said trying to control your laughter.

 He turned around almost bumping into a pole, and you couldn’t control your laughter.

“Wow, a pole…” – he said smiling like a fool, you covered your mouth with your hand to stop yourself from laughing.

“Has this always been here?” – he asked trying not to be awkward.

“I believe it did”- you said trying to control your laughter.

He patted the pole slow and before he left he turned around to look at you one more time.

Once he entered his common room his friends surrounded him.

“What did she say?” – Lily said almost jumping out of her skin.

“Tell us some details” – Sirius said sitting backwards on a chair, leaning against the back.

“Oh no she said no didn’t she” – James said coming out of the bed.

Remus tried to speak but everyone wouldn’t let him.

“Oh no Remus I’m so sorry” – Lily said.

“Lily …” – he tried to say but Sirius already said another thing “I knew it (your Hogwarts house) girls are always like that.”

“Sirius …” – he tried to speak again but James already got in defence mode “I will have to have a serious word with Y/n for hurting you like that” – he said angry, walking towards the door.

“No!” – Remus said stopping James from leaving “guys listen to me she said yes”.

“Oh” – James said surprised “well in that case, good job Mooney” – he added by patting him on the back.

“I’m so happy for you” – Lily said wrapping her arms around him.

“Way to go Moons” – Sirius said winking over to him.

Just like everyone else Remus couldn’t wait for the Yule ball.

Today was the day and you were getting ready with your friends.

Your friends and you were having a blast while putting on lipstick, you all told each other who your dates were and how thrilled you all were for tonight’s dance.

You wore a strapless dress in (your favourite colour) that fell wide open. It gave you a princess feeling.

Everyone was waiting downstairs and you took a deep breath before walking down the stairs.

As you walked down you could see Remus gaping at your beauty.

“Remus” – you said as you stood in front of him.

“You … You look beautiful Y/n” – he stammered, still gazing at you.

“Thank you” – you said shy, looking down for a moment at your dress “You look handsome yourself”.

Remus smiled shy back at you and offered you his arm “May I?”.

You placed your arm around his and walked with him towards the ball.

As you entered you were amazed by the beauty, snowflakes were falling slowly down and the ball had a wintery feeling.

Remus lead you to his friends for a moment “Everyone I want you to meet Y/n properly”.

“Y/n these are my friends: Lily, James and Sirius” – he said pointing at each of them.

“Lovely to meet you all” – you said smiling.

“Likewise,”- James replied and kissed Lily on the cheek.

“Oh” – Lily said out of the blue “James can we dance on this song?”

James didn’t really had a say in this because Lily was already dragging him towards the dancefloor.

Remus took a small bow “May I have this dance Y/n?”

“You may certainly have” – you replied with a small curtsy.

He then leads you to the dancefloor.

He placed his one hand on your hip and his other fitted perfectly into yours.

You placed your free hand on his back and he waltzed with you perfectly.

Both of you let yourself be consumed by the music and the dance. For a moment it fell as if you were the only two dancing.

Feeling soft snowflakes fall on your skin you looked deep into his eyes.

Remus his hair had caught a few snowflakes by now, “Y/n” – he started.

He stopped dancing for a moment and gazed at your beauty.

Snowflakes kept falling and Remus tilted your chin, Looking at your lips for a moment.

You closed your eyes and Remus leaned closer to kiss you.

His touch was soft and felt familiar, his kiss was passionate.

Both of you had waited for this moment, the music kept playing on the background as you moved your hands to his neck.

Remus pulled you closer to him, moving his hand towards your cheek.

As you pulled away, both of you smiled like a fool.

“I … I love you Y/n” – He said shy.

“I love you too Remus” – you said soft back, holding his cheek.

He quickly kissed you again and twirled you around for a few times.

You placed your head against his chest while slowly dancing around.
