My Dearest
“That was…” your voice trails off as you close your eyes sleepily.
“Incredible,” Javi finishes your sentence, his voice filled with satisfaction.
Tumblr media
Pairing: Javier “Javi” Rivera x fem! Reader
Genre: smut but like with fluff as well
Word count: 3516
Summary: After reconnecting with Javi, you find yourself craving a much deeper connection.
a/n: Wrote this for my bestie bc he’s her twisters crush, but I can’t take him seriously without thinking of Hamilton 😭 also it was like so hard to even find a picture for this? Theres like no good pics of Anthony as Javi 😟 hope you enjoy!
Javi had successfully convinced you to join him, however you weren’t fully convinced this was such a great idea. Even seeing an overpass brought the memories back. The memories of running through the extreme winds, the metal digging into your skin, watching as Addy gets swept away by debris. Squeezing your eyes shut tight as a hand covers the leg that was cut.
“Hey, Y/N? Are you okay?” Javi’s hand covers your knee as he rubs gentle circles into the fabric.
“Mhm,” mustering up a smile, you open your eyes and turn to face him. “I’m okay.” He visibly relaxes as his lips curve into a warm smile. He begins to ramble and you tune him out, your eyes wander out the window once again, taking in the landscapes. The flat yellow-green terrain that seems endless, with the vast and open fields that stretch through the horizon. Clean yet musky air hits your nose as you take in deep slow breaths. On the edge of a field barbed-wire fencing lines the property with a barn and a lone windmill weathered by years of sun and wind exposure.
The truck comes to a stop at what appears to be a rest station, the lot is filled with storm-par vehicles, tourists, and storm chasers (who are only interested in the high of adrenaline). You follow Javi out of the car and he introduces you to his team. “So what do you think?” Your eyes were locked on the screen of his tablet. “Which storm should we follow?” Scott offers his opinion and you shoot Javi a pained expression.
“I think you should choose. It’s been a while.” The tablet feels heavy in your palms as you shift your weight between feet. His warm hand wraps around your shoulders with a reassuring squeeze.
“Y/N come on, you’ve got this,” his voice is smooth and gentle. Biting down on your lip you turn your back to the group of guys, walking away. Javi stops them from following you as he notices your need to be alone. He knew you needed a few moments alone, and as he and his team watched you, his eyes were always on you.
The breeze moves gently through the air, creating a soothing consistent rustle in the dry grass. Fluffy clouds dot the sky with the sunlight bathing everything in a warm, soft glow. The wind carries a refreshing, warm sensation. As it flows, it creates a gentle, rhythmic sound that’s soothing and tranquil. You pick up a dandelion, crushing the soft puffball of seeds between your fingers. The ripple of the breeze carries the seeds into the air.
Turning your back you head back over to Javi and the rest of storm par. “Let’s go west.” You hand Javi his tablet.
“The one to the east has much better numbers” Scott interrupts.
”But the conditions don’t feel right, the cap is too strong. It'll never break.” Scott narrows his eyes at you, a scowl finding its way to his lips.
“You heard her lets go.” Javi’s hand presses into the small of your back.
—————
Once you were facing the storm you freaked out, you couldn’t do it. You made Javi get back in and you drove further away. But instantly knew you fucked up, your stomach dropped as he yells out “We’re too far!”
The car came to a screeching halt as you freaked out and Javi let out a quick curse, his fingers gripping the door handle tight. ”What the hell are you doing?” he asked, his voice tinged with frustration as he turned to look at you.
”I’m sorry Javi.. I don’t know what I was thinking,” you let go of the steering wheel putting your shaky hands on top of your thighs. “I didn’t mean to mess with your data collection.” Your voice trails off as you look down at your lap.
Javi let out a deep sigh, running a hand through his hair as he took a moment to calm down. He turned to face you fully, his gaze softening slightly.
"I know you didn't mean to, Y/N," he said, his voice still tinged with irritation, but with a hint of understanding. "But we can't just drive away like that. We need to get closer if we want any usable data."
You nod and hop out of the car, watching as the storm moves further away. Javi gets out to call Scott and you sigh. “Fuck,” you curse under your breath.
“Come on Y/N, we should head to the motel,” his voice rings out interrupting your thoughts. You respond with a nod and get into the passenger side of the truck.
You sigh as Javi pulls into the motel parking lot, “I’m really sorry. I just froze, I don’t know what happened.” He nods.
“No it’s okay, there’s always tomorrow.” he smiles reassuringly, “do you want to chill out here for a while? I mean i’d need to go shower and change first but..”
“Javi I’m real tired… But maybe we could watch tv in your room for a bit?” You fumble with the straps of your backpack as you look over at him.
Javi studied your face for a moment, seeing the exhaustion written all over it. He knew that you were hesitant about joining the group of tourists outside, and he didn’t press the issue.
“Yeah, we can do that,” he replied with a nod. “Let’s go up to my room and watch TV for a bit. You can rest there.”
”Okay, come on then,” you lace your arm into his as you follow his lead. Javi couldn’t help but feel a small smile tug at the corners of his lips. He appreciated your closeness, and the way you sought comfort in him.
As you walked together towards his room, he couldn’t help but notice how tired you looked. He knew it had been a long day, and you needed to rest. You open the door with his key, you sigh softly as you let yourself in. Dropping your bag on the floor you stretch your arms out.
Javi follows you inside, closing the door behind him with a gentle click. The room feels cozy, the air slightly cool and crisp from the air conditioning. He walks over to the bed and takes a seat against the headboard, patting the space next to him on the mattress. “Come on, sit down and rest for a bit.”
You smile as you kick off your sneakers and plop onto the bed next to him. Finding your way into his arm cuddling against his chest and pressing your face against his shoulder. “I’ve missed this Javi..” your voice trails off as you turn the tv on.
Javi feels your warm body press against his as you cuddle into his chest, and his arms instinctively wrap around you, pulling you closer. He can’t help but feel a sense of contentment at your words, and his heart skips a beat.
“I’ve missed this too,” he says quietly, his voice a gentle rumble against your ear. “It’s been too long.” You wrap an arm around his torso. Finding comfort in his familiar scent.
”What should we watch?” Your voice is gentle as you nuzzle your face into him. He runs a hand gently up and down your back, feeling the warmth and softness of your skin under his fingertips, you shiver from his touch.
“I don’t know, anything you want,” he replies, his voice soft and gentle. “Just pick something that doesn’t require too much thought.” He couldn’t help but feel a wave of comfort at your affectionate gesture. He adjusts his arm, pulling you even closer as he sinks back into the pillows, the warmth of your body against his own a soothing presence.
”Hmm,” you turn your body to face the tv flipping through the movies and shows, you finally decide on a random movie. Tossing the remote to the side you turn your attention back to Javi, repositioning yourself at his side. “I really missed you,” looking over at him you take the time to admire his face. You always did encourage him to cut his hair and damn does it look good on him. In the past 5 years you’ve forgotten just how handsome your friend truly is.
Javi feels your eyes on him as you reposition yourself at his side, and he can’t help but feel a wave of comfort and familiarity at your closeness. He looks down at you, feeling your gaze on his face, and he notices the way you’re studying him, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
He reaches out to tuck a strand of hair behind your ear, his fingers gently caressing your face. “I’ve missed you too,” he says softly, his eyes locked on yours. “More than you know.” you find a soft blush painting your cheeks as you were caught staring at him. You hope he doesn’t realize you were checking him out, the embarrassment send a chill through your body
”Your hair looks good like this,” you reach up to touch his soft curls, “I’m glad you finally cut it,” Javi notices the soft blush that creeps onto your cheeks as your fingers reach up to touch his hair, and he can’t help but smile at your words.
"Thanks,” he says with a small chuckle, tilting his head slightly to the side to give you better access to his hair. “I’m glad you like it.” He realizes how comfortable it feels having you by his side, just like old times.
”Of course I do, I always told you to cut it,” your hand moves down from his hair to his jaw, you brush your pointer finger over his jawline. “You look so handsome with short hair,” you whisper into his ear. Your words echo in his ears and he can feel a faint blush creeping onto his own cheeks at the compliment.
He turns his head slightly to look at you, feeling your warm breath in his ear. “You always did hate my longer hair,” he responds with a chuckle, his voice a bit huskier than usual. Your tongue flicks out to wet your bottom lip as you notice the closeness of his face to yours. A loud crack of thunder sounds outside the window but does little to distract you both.
“I love your curls..” your hand finds its way back into his hair, tangling your fingers in the strands as you softly pull at the dark locks. His eyes lock onto yours, his heartbeat quickening in his chest as he realizes how close your face is to his. He can feel the heat of your breath on his skin, and his body instinctively leans in closer to you.
His eyes flutter shut for a moment as he lets out a soft gasp at the sensation of your fingers in his hair. “Mm,” he murmurs, “You always know how to drive me crazy with that.” You smile sweetly while maneuvering yourself onto his lap.
”I know, that's why I do it,” you giggle softly while putting your free hand against his chest. Your weight settles on him with a pleasant sensation. His arms instinctively wrap around your waist, pulling you closer as his hands grip your hips.
He can’t help but smile at your words, his eyes locked on your fingers as they rest against his chest. “Is that so?” he asks, his voice low and playful. “Just trying to drive me wild, hmm?”
”Always,” you whisper into his ear as you begin to pepper kisses from his temple to his jawline. Javi lets out an involuntary moan as your lips brush against his skin. The feeling of your kisses against him sends a wave of pleasure through his body, and his fingers grip your hips tighter.
He tilts his head back slightly, giving you better access to his skin, his hands tightening their grip on your hips as he lets out a soft exhale. “You’re so cruel,” he husks out, his voice shaky with suppressed desire.
”But you love it, don’t you?” You tease softly before your lips connect with his neck once more. You move toward his collarbone and begin sucking soft hickies into his tanned skin. He lets out a soft moan feeling a sense of pure ecstasy at the sensation of your mouth on his skin.
He tilts his head back once more, exposing more of his neck to you, his hands gripping your hips tightly. “God, yes I love it,” he breathes out, his voice low and gravelly. “You know I love it.” his hands still gripping your hips tightly as he tries to reign in the growing heat between you. The sensation of your touch combined with the knowledge that you were marking him up causes a pang of desire to shoot through his body.
You pull back admiring the pinkish marks you left upon his skin. Your hands move to the sides of his face as you run your thumbs over his cheek bones. “Are you going to make a move? Or keep letting me have full control?”
Javi looks at you with dark, lust-filled eyes as you pull back he can feel the heat radiating off of his body and he knows that he's moments from snapping.
But the sound of your question, spoken with a hint of challenge, makes him pause for a moment. He raises an eyebrow at you and lets out a low chuckle.
“You really want me to, don’t you?” he asks, his voice deep and ragged as he leans closer, his hands now gripping your waist with a newfound possessiveness.
You begin to move your hips, grinding against him, feeling his hardness through your pants. Your breath quickens as you kiss him, hands owing to his hair, your lips demanding and insistent.
Javi groans into your mouth, his hands sliding from your waist to your hips as he guides your movements. “That’s it, just like that baby.”
As you increase the pace, Javi’s hands move to your thighs, squeezing the sensitive flesh as he thrust upward to meet your motions. “You feel so good, darling. Let me hear you.” His hand rasps the back of your head leaning it to the side as he presses sloppy kisses to your cheek.
You moan as the pleasure builds inside of you, your head falling back as you give into the sensations “Javi.. oh god…”, he slides you off his lap. Pulling you away from your orgasm, your eyebrows furrow in confusion as he lays you down on your back.
”What was that for?” You whine a little, his fingers swiftly unbutton your shorts. He pulls them off of your legs, his lips connect with the soft flesh of your inner thighs.
“I want to hear you scream.” He encourages, his voice rough with desire. He pushes your legs apart as he slides your panties off next, groaning at the sight of your wet pussy. His lips connect with your tender clit, swirling circles around it with his warm tongue.
Your back arches off the bed as you tightly grip ahold of the sheets. Loud moans leaving your parted lips, your face contorting in pleasure. As if on cue, the storm outside intensifies, the wind howling and the rain pounding giants the window.
He moves you off the bed as he lays against it, lifting your body up to hover over his lips. You moan, gripping a hold of the headboard, biting down on the wood to muffle your cries.
Your hips buck as his tongue working its magic, his hands holding your thighs apart while devouring you. He moans, the sound vibrating against your sensitive leash, his arms pulling you closer, plunging his fingers into your wet heat.
”Oh god, Javi! Right there!” You gasp as his fingers find your sweet spot, your walls clenching around him. He smiles against you, his tongue never stopping its relentless assault. He adds a third finger, stretching and filling you as he feels your orgasm building.
Your hands tangle in his hair, your hips bucking wildly as you ride his face. Javi suckled your clit as his fingers curled inside you, sending you over the edge. You moan his name “I’m gonna cum“ squeezing your thighs around his head as you become more and more sensitive, but he doesn’t let up. You cry out, your body trembling your release washes over you, your juices coating his fingers and mouth.
“Oh god, Javi!” The pleasure becomes too much, you push his forehead gently as you try to squirm away, yet he holds your hips against his lips. After he finishes licking up your cum, he releases your body. You slide off his face, straddling his hips once again.
Javi takes your lips in a possessive kiss as you wrap your legs around his hips, pulling his body against yours. He holds you tight, his hands moving up to cup your breasts, brushing his thumbs over your sensitive nipples.
As you come down from your high, you rest your forehead against his, your breath mingling with his. “It’s my turn now.” You tease. His eyes darken with desire as he moves his hands to the button of his jeans.
Your eyes widen as you see the bulge in his pants, a mix of anticipation and lust fluttering in your stomach. He pulls you into another passionate kiss, his hands moving to yours.
Javi lowers your hands to his belt, your breath hitches as you undo the buckle. Your fingers moving to his fly, sliding the zipper down. As you pull his jeans and boxers down, his hard length springs free, thick and veined, the tip glistening with pre-cum. You bite your look, looking up at him with desire.
“You like what you see, babe?” Javi murmures, his voice thick with need as he slides his hand in your hair. You nod, glancing down at his cock. You reach out wrapping your hand around him, feeling his head and smoothness.
Javi groans, his head falls back as you begin to stroke him, your movements slow and exploratory. “Fuck, just like that… feels so good.” You lean forward, your tongue darting out to taste the salty drop of pre-cum on the tip.
“Oh damn!” Javi cries out, his hips bucking as your warm, wet mouth closing around him. You take your time, your lips and tongue working him over, savoring the taste and feel of him in your mouth.
He clenches the bedsheets, his body rigid as he tries to hold back, wanting to prolong the moment. “Y/N, I’m not gonna last if you keep this up” with a final, deep suck, you release him, a string of saliva connecting your lips to the head of his cock.
You position yourself above his dick, your eyes heavy-lidded as you reach down, guiding I’m to your entrance. Javi groans as he pushes inside of you, your warmth enveloping him and your muscles clenching around his shaft.
“Oh god, you feel so good,” you moan, throwing your head back as he begins to move, his hips snapping as he thrusts into you.
Javi’s eyes roll back as he feels the tightness of you around him, your wet heat drawing him in. “Fuck, Y/N. You’re so tight..” finding a rhythm, he begins to move faster, his hands grasping your hips as he pushes into you, your flesh slapping together.
You meet his thrusts, your nails raking down his back as the pleasure builds inside you once more. “Fuck Javi! I’m gonna cum again!” Your walls clench around him, your juices flowing as you cry out, your body shaking with the force of your release.
Unable to hold back any longer, Javi surrenders to the pleasure, his hips snapping faster as he chases his own release. “Y/N, I’m cumming!” He buries his face in your nape as he fills you, his release coating your insides as he thrusts into you. Your bodies joined in the ultimate act of pleasure.
As both of your breathing slows, you collapse beside him. He pulls you close, your sweat-dampened bodies sticking together. He wraps his arm around your shoulders as he keeps your body tight against his, seeming as if he’s afraid to let you go.
You smile, tracing patterns on his chest as you snuggle into his side, wrapping your leg around his thigh. “That was…” your voice trails off as you close your eyes sleepily.
“Incredible,” Javi finishes your sentence, his voice filled with satisfaction. With a content sigh, you press a gentle kiss to his chest, the sound of the storm outside a gentle lullaby as you drift off to sleep, safe and satisfied in Javi’s arms.
Your shared passion had healed old wounds, the storm outside a reflection of the tempestuous desires that had been released, leaving only peace and contentment in its wake.

-
Two months.
It had taken Javi two months after the accident to call her. Two months after she found out alongside him her three closest friends had died. Two months after attending three funerals in the span of one week. Two months since she decided to start therapy for the grief and survivors guilt. Two months since she had heard anything about his life.
She didn't blame him, not really, none of the three of them that had survived seemed to talk to one another. She had called Kate a month beforehand, but she hadn't responded. Her texts were opened but never responded to. Kate had arguably taken it harder than her or Javi, so she didn't bother her. Javi, however, him ignoring her burned like fire.
Before it all went to shambles, they had a sort of more-than-friends relationship. She piled into the passenger side of his van on nearly every chase, helped him man the data collection, helped him take care of Dorothy every time she began to fall apart. She sat at the dinner table of his small apartment to help him with his research on his findings, and knew his gas station order by heart. They danced around his kitchen to his dance playlist, and he made her laugh harder than anyone. Addy had always joked that Javi had feelings for her, but she'd been so blind to his advances that she'd never even realized.
But tonight, two months after all of it, his name had flashed across her phone screen, the same corny heart behind it that she'd never deleted since he first put his number in her phone.
Javi <3: You in town?
Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Javi had skipped town after everything, Kate following behind him. She had been the only one left in their small town in Oklahoma. She picks up the device and her thumbs hover over the keyboard for a while before she responds:
Yeah. You too?
She sets the phone down, thinking he wouldn't respond for a while. Javi had always been a notoriously bad texter. But only a minute later it vibrates with a new message.
Javi <3: For tonight. Meet me at The Shack in an hour?
The Shack was a local bar, only ten minutes from her house. Her heart hammers, why was he in town for only the night? And more importantly, why did he want to see her after months of not bothering to check on her? Her fingers hover over the 'send' button, the simple word typed up: 'busy.' She wanted to be angry, to resent him for not bothering to call, but her heart softens, and she deleted the message. Instead, she sends a thumbs up emoji and tosses her phone back on the couch. Despite her excitement, she couldn't shake the feeling that this was a bad idea.
As she walks into the tiny but crowded bar, she tries to spot Javi, but she can't find his curls draping over his shoulders, or pulled into a bun behind his head. She almost gives up until she hears his voice.
"I'm right here."
She turns, and, sure enough, sitting in a booth in the corner sits Javi.
He looks...different.
He'd chopped his curls into a short, neat cut, and he looked somehow heavier behind his usually playful eyes. Long gone was the boy she knew-the one who had an affinity for loud music and taking naps wherever there was flat ground. He had been replaced by someone that certainly looked like him, but didn't have that same spark.
"Hey."
He stands and gives her a small hug, his smile not exactly reaching his eyes. She returns the gesture, settling into the booth across from him as they fall into light conversation over drinks. They catch up after the past two months, all while avoiding the topic that lingers like heavy smoke between them. Her lungs burn just thinking about what Praveen would have said if he saw them now. She finally gathers the courage to broach a relatively sore subject:
"So, what brings you back into town?"
His eyes dart down to his lap, his shoulders slouching.
"Uh, it's my last night home for a while."
She nods, understanding the need to get out of here, the ghosts of their past certainly had begun to haunt.
"Where are you headed?"
"Uh, Iraq."
Her eyes widen as she almost chokes on her drink.
"Very funny, Javi."
"Not joking."
His serious expression shows he isn't. Her heart hammers, what had she missed in two months?
"Javi, what the hell are you doing in Iraq?"
"Don't really know, I just go where they tell me to. Not my job to argue with Uncle Sam."
Her eyes widen further. No way in hell would she ever have seen that coming.
"Y-You joined the military?"
He nods, throwing back the rest of his drink.
"Didn't chop off a head of perfectly good hair for the fun of it."
For a split second, she felt disheartened, everyone was leaving, moving on, while she was here, stuck in the same small town. After another drink, and another, they fall into easy conversation. And by the time she's three drinks deep, he almost feels like the Javi she remembered.
That night is the first night she lets Javi into her bed, only to wake up naked and alone.
But it wouldn't be the last.
-
The second time it happened, she didn't even blame him, it had been hard on both of them. Kate hadn't bothered to come back home, and she didn't blame her, because as she looks around at the framed pictures of her now-deceased friends, she thinks she might explode.
It's Christmas Eve, nearly two years later, and she's sitting on Jeb's mother's couch as the older woman dotes on she and Javi both. Her sweater itches around her collar, and she's sweating, but she figures it has little to do with the heat of the fireplace and more to do with the lingering awkward flames between she and the military-uniform clad man beside her. Her hands grasp a cup of eggnog, but even the rum in it could not soothe the ache burning in her chest.
Javi hadn't even bothered to contact her after their night together. In fact, he'd done more to ignore her completely. Her occasional texts had gone ignored, he had read her message on his birthday, but never acknowledged it, and she was sure he hadn't even read her concerned affections she'd sent on the anniversary of the accident. She'd been so worried about him, and he couldn't have cared less about her.
She puts on a good act, because Jeb's mom doesn't deserve her coldness. The woman was kind, and loved she and Javi as her own. Days like today were hard for all three of them, but the grief combined with the anger she feels at Javi, all she wants to do is run from the warm and inviting living room she's sitting in. After a few hours of talking and gift giving, she finally meets the cold winter air and feels so relieved that tears prick behind her eyes. She takes a deep breath as she clutches the boxed gift in her hand, wiping her eyes on the back of her sleeve. Javi stands only a few feet behind her, watching everything. His voice cuts the silence that had seemed so permanent between them:
"If you want to talk about it, I'm here."
She scoffs.
"Javier, you wouldn't answer me when I told you happy birthday, much less now."
His full name tumbling from her lips stings more than it should. He lets it sting, he deserves it, he'd been an asshole.
"You're right, I-I fucked up. I know. But you're standing in front of me, and you're hurting, and I'm the only one here that knows the way your chest hurts. Kate, she-she just pushes through and ignores it. You and me, we're not built like that."
She knows Javi is right, but she would never admit that, not to his face. Silence falls over them again before she finds the courage to turn around and look at him. He's less Javi and more Lieutenant Rivera these days, his eyes hardened and his tone gruff. She can hardly see the reminiscent parts of the boy she'd spent four springs in a van with. Grief and the regular hardship of life had made them different people, but she still loved him, despite it all.
"I've got to visit Addy's mom, and Praveen's parents after this. You comin'?"
Maybe she was angry with the way Javi had treated her, but her friends' parents were expecting them both, and he had been truthful-they were the only two who understood the specific pain of losing your three closest friends in death, and the other while she was still living. Her response comes out witty, almost like the girl she used to be.
"As long as you're driving."
That night, after they'd split a bottle of red in her living room, they fall back into their usual ritual when he came to town: her writhing in pleasure underneath him. The next day, Christmas morning, the only evidence that Javi had been there was his empty wine glass on her coffee table.
She swore to herself that it would never happen again. As she washed her delicate glasses in the sink, she repeats her vow. When she finishes, she dries her hands, grabs her phone and clicks on his contact. She can't find the heart to block him, just in case he really needs her, but she changes his name in the hopes she'll ignore his calls. 'Javi <3' no longer resided in her phone, only a contact titled 'No Caller ID.'
-
For the next year, she does what she always does: she wakes up early for coffee, gets ready for her job as a local middle school science teacher, teaches for eight hours, and comes home to an empty house. After everything that had happened in the past few years, she'd resigned herself to being entirely alone for the rest of her life. She hadn't heard from Kate in nearly a year, and she'd intentionally not wanted to hear from Javi ever again. He'd called from time to time, only ever in the very early morning hours of a Friday or Saturday morning. She already knew what he wanted, so she ignored them.
She was isolated and alone. The most 'chasing' she did was watching a group of rowdy, self-proclaimed 'Tornado Wranglers' on YouTube. They make her smile on bad days, doing things so absurd she'd never have thought up most of them. One particular night, she finds herself watching a stream of them chasing in a town only an hour or two from her hometown. On a whim, and maybe a little cloudy from her post-dinner wine, she shoots the account a message, wondering if they'd come speak to her sixth graders who were currently studying weather. She doesn't expect anything from it, it was a long shot, and it's likely no one would answer her. But the next morning, as she scrolls through notifications from the time she'd been asleep, a response sits staring back at her on the screen.
'We'd love to come speak to some junior Wranglers! Next Thursday at 10 AM sound good?'
Her eyes widen and she beams, feeling giddy for the first time in a very long time. That Thursday morning, in an act so unbelievably unlike her, she finds herself putting on her favorite teaching dress and maybe a little more effort into her hair. She feels ridiculous the entire time she drives to her job, but when she spots the familiar red truck in the parking lot, she feels like one of her students with a crush.
The second the group comes to her classroom, everything feels a little surreal. They're exactly as they come across on screen-except for the so-called leader. Tyler Owens, in all of his backwards-baseball-cap glory, is infinitely more handsome in person. Her schoolgirl blush only grows when he's charming and easy-going with her students' dozens of questions, relevant or not, and his witty humor. She feels her heart grow when he gives each of her students their own Wranglers shirts before he approaches her with one of her own, and, attached is a sticky note that she doesn't have a chance to read before he leaves. Once her students break for recess she peels it off the fabric and smiles widely as she reads the messy handwriting:
'We're in town chasing til Sunday. Wanted to invite you for a drink, on me. Saturday? Text me, or call me, and we'll make it a date. -Tyler'
His number sits under his name and she finds herself blushing again before pulling out her phone and adding his number into her contacts before typing out a message to him:
'I'm free anytime Saturday night, and there's a great bar called The Shack not far from my place. I'll meet you there?'
From that moment on, it was rare to see one without the other. Only three dates in, Tyler had already asked her to be his girlfriend, and she had accepted. Within the year, she was back to doing what she loved most-chasing storms and helping those in need with people who loved it as much as she did. After hours upon hours of late night crying sessions and tender affections, she explained her treacherous relationship with Javi, and bit by tiny bit, her heart was healed by the goofy and sensitive boy behind the cowboy hat. Falling in love with Tyler had been easy: he was funny, and smart, and kind, and, maybe most importantly, never made her feel like she was nothing more than an after-hours option.
Now, two years into their relationship, she sleeps next to him in her pale pink sheets, his warmth radiating onto her chilled skin in the coldness of the winter night. Tyler's calloused hands are gentle under her shirt, lightly caressing her sides. Both of them are nearly asleep, it's dark, and late, nearly three in the morning. Her eyes close against his chest, and she's almost asleep when her phone rings. She assumes it's Boone-he had a habit of showing up at her house at all hours of the morning. Tyler groans, his voice cutting through the darkness:
"Jesus, what does Boone want this time?"
She rolls her eyes at her melodramatic boyfriend, rolling over to grab her phone from the nightstand as her eyes adjust to the brightness of the screen. When she gets a glance at the name flashed across her device, she stills, simply staring down at it for a minute.
No Caller ID
Every memory of the Javi she once knew flickers in her mind-the boy she once knew, the person that he was no longer. The Javi she loved had died the same day her three closest friends had. She declines the call, letting it fade back to her lockscreen as she simply stares at the picture of her and Tyler she'd set as her wallpaper.
"Baby, what's the matter?"
Tyler's voice snaps her out of her haze. She shakes her head, simply tossing on her 'do not disturb' before rolling back into his hold.
"Who was it?"
She nuzzles into his neck, finding comfort in the arms of the man who loved her-unconditionally, always, not just when she was convenient. Tyler had never left her naked and alone, he was always there when she woke up.
"Nobody, spam, no caller ID."

Your dating life has reached a new low. Tinder, Bumble, Hinge- none of them work for you despite your incessant attempts. It’s so bad that your friends have set you up on blind dates, all of which fail or turn into what people like to call situationships. You end up wasting your time on someone thinking it’s going great, and then suddenly, it ends in a fiery crash or sometimes plain old rejection. You’re so tired of dating. Even your university campus has no luck in the dating pool. But then, one night (after drinking too much box wine and scrolling through dating apps begrudgingly), your best friend has an idea.
“Have you ever like, dated long distance?” they ask, swirling their wine around their glass.
“Not really,” you shrug, taking a sip from yours, “I feel like it’d be harder than dating someone close by, which is already a lot.”
“True,” they sigh, “Ooh! Maybe use one of those pen pal apps?”
“Pen pal apps?” you raise an eyebrow, locking your phone before tossing it on the couch in disgust, “What am I, nine years old?”
Your best friend rolls their eyes, “It’s not something just kids do, you know. A lot of people make genuine connections through letters. It’s a lot better than Tinder or some shitty dating app at this point. You may as well try.”
“I guess you’re right,” you glance down at your phone, “I’m running out of options here.”
After Googling and scrolling through search results, you hum, “Maybe I could do one of the military pen pal programs. That seems promising.”
“Yes! Get you a military man!” your best friend squeals, and you can’t help the giddy smile that grows on your lips.
“Okay, I’ll do it,” you say, and your best friend shakes your shoulder excitedly, “But if it doesn’t work out, I’m just going to die alone, I guess. At this point, it’s less stressful.”
Your best friend snorts, “If we make it to thirty and we’re both still single, we could get married.”
“I love you, but if I had to spend the rest of my life with you, I’d probably go insane.”
“You have some killer jokes, kid. You’re already stuck with me, so sorry.”
That following day, you do a deep dive into all things pen-palling. You decide to sit down at your desk and type up a letter, but it feels too wrong like it needs to be handwritten instead. So, you move your laptop aside, pull out some notebook paper and a pencil, and start your first letter. Except, you aren’t sure what to say first. Then, when you start writing, your handwriting annoys you, and after that, you think your tone is off. You end up scrapping half a tree by the time you start actually writing a decent letter. You introduce yourself and state where you’re from, explaining you’re in college and what you wish to do after graduating. You don’t dive into too much detail but give enough away so your possible pen pal has something to respond to. You also sprinkle in some questions for them to answer as well. You reread your letter, finally satisfied with what you’ve written, before folding it and sliding it into an envelope. You go back to your phone to see where to send the letter, writing down the location along with your name and address on the front.
Life goes on for a little while, and you actually forget you sent a letter to some random person in the military until one day, your best friend is sifting through the mail you tossed onto your counter.
“Uhh, what’s this?” they call out from the kitchen as you surf through Netflix in the living room.
“What’s what?”
“You got a letter from some dude named Javier?” your best friend says it as more of a question than a statement.
You scrunch up your nose and eyebrows in confusion before finally settling on a show you and your best friend have seen a million times already, walking into the kitchen.
“Let me see.”
Your best friend hands over the letter, and you scan the envelope carefully. Javier Rivera. It doesn’t sound familiar to you, but then you notice where the letter is from.
“Oh shit,” you flip the envelope over and tear it open.
“What is it?”
“It’s the pen pal thing!” you say, voice raised in shock, “I didn’t think someone would actually respond.”
“Oh yeah,” your best friend nods, “I forgot about that. I figured you chickened out on it because you never mentioned it again.”
“I didn’t chicken out,” you trail off, taking in the meticulous handwriting of the letter.
Dearest Pen Pal,
Thank you for sending your letter. I don’t think you’ll ever understand how much it meant to me to receive it. I’m Javier, but everyone calls me Javi. I’m the same age as you and have been to college myself. I joined the military for personal reasons, but I haven’t regretted it yet. Your career path seems interesting, and I hope you succeed in the rest of your studies.
Your best friend hovers over your shoulder, also reading the letter.
“He seems cute,” your best friend giggles.
Javi answers some of your random questions and goes on to say he anticipates your next letter. He also says that if you’d like, he’d send a photo of himself next time. Your best friend has a field day with that.
“Oh my gosh! What if he’s hot?” they gasp.
“Who knows? I wouldn’t care if he wasn’t, anyway. It’s cool to talk to someone I’ve never met over letters.”
“True. But bonus points if he is hot.”
You scoff as you fold the letter up and put it back in the envelope.
When your best friend leaves later on, you immediately bolt to your desk and write your letter.
Dear Javi,
I’m glad my letter found you well. Thanks for the hope in me, I definitely need it. College is fun, but it’s super exhausting. I don’t think I asked in my last letter, but where are you from? Also, what did you major in while in school? I’d love to see what you look like and put a face to your name. What military branch are you in, and what do you want to do with your experience when you’re back in the States? Sorry for all the questions again! I’m just super curious about things. If this letter reaches you sooner than later this time around, I hope you have a great Thanksgiving.
You wrap up your letter, albeit a little shorter than the last one, and slip it into your mailbox ASAP. This time, you won’t forget you sent it.
When the following letter arrives, it’s early December. You hastily remove your scarf, coat, and wet snow boots at your front door before opening the letter immediately. When you pull the letter from the envelope, a photo falls onto the floor. You pick it up, and it’s a small picture of who you assume is Javi, all decked out in his military uniform. Okay, your best friend was right on the money, he is pretty cute.
Dearest Pen Pal,
I had a decent Thanksgiving. I hope yours was better than mine! I’m from Miami, Florida. I went to school in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and while I was there, I studied weather phenomena and chased storms. It was a whole thing, but I’ll get into that later. And I don’t mind all the questions. I think it’ll be fun getting to know each other.
Javi explains what branch he’s in and also admits he doesn’t know what he’s going to do after the military as of yet. He talks about his Thanksgiving and wishes you a Merry Christmas if he doesn’t get to communicate with you before then. You decide to send a photo of yourself back to him, digging out your Polaroid camera when you go to your bedroom to respond to his letter. You touch up your makeup a little and make sure your hair isn’t absolutely a mess before taking a photo. Sitting down to write your letter, you aren’t sure how to react to the photo Javi sent. You don’t want to be weird, but you also want him to know that you think he’s attractive.
Dear Javi,
I love the photo you sent, and you look pretty dapper in your uniform. I’m sending a picture of myself, too. Chasing storms sounds very interesting. Please tell me more about that!
You rattle off some things you have done while in school, talking about the places you have traveled to over the years and the people you’ve met. You gush about your best friend, especially.
So far, you’re probably the most intriguing person I’ve talked to, Javi. Not everyone can say they’re a storm chaser, you add.
You polish off your letter, which ends up being two pages long (three if you count the back on the first page, too.) You neatly fold up the paper and slide it into an envelope. You don’t expect a reply until New Year because of the amount of mail that will be coming in and out of the base. Javi is stationed on the other side of the country from you and may be moved out of the country if needed.
As you expected, it isn’t until a month and a half later that you receive a letter from Javi again. It’s a long letter- a few pages total this time. The letter is in a Christmas card, and it’s signed by Javi. You immediately hang the card on your refrigerator door so you can look at it daily. He talks about how his holidays went, how all the guys on his base called home or were able to FaceTime their family. Javi asks how your holidays have gone and showers you with compliments over the photo you sent him. You can’t help but feel your stomach flutter at his words.
Over the next few months, you and Javi write back and forth diligently. You know just about everything about Javi, and he knows almost everything about you. You feel like there’s something he’s keeping from you, possibly the storm chasing he had brought up, but you don’t push it. He will tell you when he’s ready. And there’s also some stuff about your life you’d rather wait to explain as well. In your last letter, you wrote your email and phone number so that Javi can communicate with you in other ways. You’re able to guess how long it takes the letters to get to Javi, so around the time you expect them to get to him, you’re giddy. You anxiously await a phone call or email any day now.
It’s August when your phone rings with a call from an unknown number. You have had such a long day- school for several hours, then work immediately after in the evening. You can’t help but wonder who could be calling at 9 pm. You make yourself comfy on the couch with your favorite beverage before answering the phone.
“Hello?”
“Hi, it’s Javi. Is this the right number?”
You nearly choke on your sip of drink, “Oh shit. Hi! Yes, this is the right number!”
Javi laughs from the other end, and you decide you want to hear that laugh again so badly.
“Sorry I’m calling so late over there. The phone was surprisingly available, and I got your letter today saying I could call. So I did,” Javi said.
“It’s okay,” you shrug, even though he can’t see, “I just got home from work, actually. So perfect timing.”
“Great. How was your day?”
The two of you spend about an hour on the phone, relishing having an actual conversation in real time.
“I’m so glad to finally hear your voice,” Javi says after a natural pause in conversation, “That’s not too cheesy, right?”
You snort, “It kind of is, but it’s cute. I’m glad to hear your voice, too.”
After another ten minutes, Javi sadly admits that he has to hang up since it’s almost dinner time where he is.
“We should talk again sometime if you’re able to,” you smile, biting at your fingernail nervously.
You hope he calls again, but letters will always suffice just fine.
“I’ll try my best. Maybe sometime next week?”
“Sounds like a plan,” you say, pulling the phone away from your ear so you can silently kick your feet in excitement.
“Alright, then. Talk to you later,” Javi says.
“See ya,” you grin, and the call concludes.
It isn’t the following week that he calls, but the week after that. Javi discloses that he sent a surprise in the letter he just mailed. He also slips up and says it’s almost his birthday, and you immediately have an idea. After your long conversation on the phone, asking some questions here and there about certain things he likes that you didn’t already know before, you decide to send Javi a package.
You send a postcard from your home state, some non-perishable snacks, socks that were his favorite color that he could wear when not on base, notebooks he could write letters in, some fun pens to go with the notebooks, and a birthday card. After signing it, you leave a lip print on the card just to test the waters. You’ve come to really like Javi over the last year, and you wonder if he likes you back. Sometimes, he’ll be flirty in letters or over the phone, but nothing too crazy. Nothing that gives you alarm bells that he likes you in the way that you like him. So, you’re taking a leap of faith.
A few weeks after sending the package, you get Javi's phone call while doing some class work at your desk. You spin around in the chair aimlessly as you answer the phone.
“A kiss, huh? That’s cute.”
“Oh, it’s nothing. Just a little something to remind you of me,” you say.
“It’s definitely not nothing,” Javi teases, “I think you want to kiss me.”
Your ears grow hot at the sound of Javi’s voice deepening in playfulness.
“And so what if I do? There’s nothing you can do about it,” you bite back with just as much playfulness.
“Are you sure about that?” Javi says, a knowing lilt in his voice.
“What do you mean?” you furrow your eyebrows, stopping the chair from spinning entirely so you can focus.
“I’m most likely coming home for Christmas this year, but I still have to work out some stuff,” Javi says, an edge of excitement in his voice, “I’d like to possibly see you.”
“Oh,” you say, your voice squeaking, “Really? You want to see me?”
“Of course I wanna see you,” Javi chuckles, “We’ve been corresponding for a while. I’d like to finally see you in person.”
You suddenly feel like you’re going to throw up, but in a good way. You’re sick with nervous excitement.
“O-okay,” you grin, “I’ll be finished with the semester at the beginning of December. Depending on when and where you want to meet, I can ask off from work.”
Javi has family not too far from where you live, and he wants to stop and see, so the two of you agree to meet in a city that’s basically halfway. December 20th is the day you’re supposed to meet Javi after a year of conversing through letters and over the phone. Who would have thought, right? That some random idea from your best friend would have led you here? Speaking of which, your best friend is beside themselves with excitement just like you. You called them immediately after hanging up with Javi.
“When you get married, make sure to thank me!” they say half-jokingly.
“Shut up,” you roll your eyes, trying to stifle a grin, “What if we don’t like each other when we meet, though? What if it’s awkward? What if we don’t have anything to talk about? What if-”
“Hush!” your best friend shushes you, “It will go fine. It will go great. In fact, you’re going to have a splendid time.”
“I guess you’re right,” you sigh, eyeballing the photo of Javi you have pinned to your corkboard over your desk.
“I’m always right,” your best friend giggles.
It’s now the end of your semester, and you’re beyond excited for a few reasons. In a week, you meet Javi, and this coming Spring semester is your last. So, for the time being, you’ll be finished with college. You come home from your final exam and start making a packing list. You’re staying at a hotel in the city where you’re meeting Javi for a day or two, depending on how things go. You have so much to do before going on the mini trip that if you didn’t have a list planned out for everything, your head would surely fly off your shoulders. You have to wrap gifts for your friends and family, pack your bag, clean your apartment, and put up decorations for the party you and your best friend are throwing for Christmas.
Deciding to surprise Javi, you get him a gift for Christmas. It’s a wool sweater you think will fit nicely and a beautiful, deep color that you figure will compliment his skin tone. You carefully put the sweater in a robe box, taping the sides shut and signing your name on the tag before putting it under the Christmas tree. You managed to put up the large tree by your lonesome and didn’t kill yourself doing it, so you considered it a win. After wrapping a few more gifts and stuffing them under your tree, you check the time. It’s a little past dinnertime, and you decide it’s probably best to finally pack your bag for tomorrow.
A melatonin gummy is definitely in your future so you can get some sleep, or else you’ll toss and turn in an anxious fit all night. After finishing up packing as lightly as you can muster, you settle into bed. When you wake in the morning, you get a text from an unknown number, which you assume is from Javi’s cell, letting you know he is getting on his flight. You almost quite literally jump out of bed before hitting the shower and getting ready. You take your time fixing your hair and makeup, picking out a cute but comfortable outfit for your 2-hour drive.
After getting your belongings and the gift inside your car, you shoot your best friend a text letting them know you’re leaving your apartment and that you’ll text when you get to the airport. Taking a few deep breaths, you crank your car and head off. You are deep in your thoughts the entire ride, not evening singing along to your music most of the time. What if Javi decides he isn’t impressed by what he sees? You try to push away your anxiety as you near the airport. Finding parking after circling around for a while, you hurry to grab the gift and go inside. It’s hectic, considering it’s five days until Christmas, but you get through TSA without a hitch. You find the coffee shop where you and Javi agreed to meet and sit at a table in the corner. You scroll through social media, trying not to panic. You text back and forth with your best friend for a while until you receive a message from Javi saying he’s landed. Suddenly, an icy, numbing nervousness runs through your veins. You take a deep breath and tell yourself it will be okay, and everything will be fine.
You decide to meet Javi at his gate and return to the coffee shop. Getting up from your seat, you shake yourself off a little before walking to the gate where Javi is to exit his flight. You aimlessly check your phone every five minutes out of anxiety. People start to leave from the corridor, dragging their carry-ons with them. Suddenly, you spot Javi walking out with the crowd, his face turned downward at his phone. When he looks up, he has to do a double-take when he sees you. You can’t help the grin that plasters your face.
“Hi,” Javi grins back as he approaches you, taking in your appearance fully for the first time, “Is it okay if I hug you?”
“You don't have to ask, silly,” you roll your eyes playfully, setting the gift by your feet before allowing Javi to pull you into him.
You wrap your arms around him, your nose buried in his shoulder. He’s dressed in his uniform, much to your delight, meaning you get to see how handsome he looks in person.
“Don’t tell me that’s for me,” Javi gives you a jokingly dissatisfied look when he pulls away from you, his eyes darting to the gift beside you.
“Would you kill me if it was?” you say, picking it up and handing it to him.
“Nah,” Javi waves you off, leaning down to dig in his carry-on for something, “Besides, I got you something, too.”
“Javi,” you drag out his name in annoyance, “You didn’t have to do that.”
“Of course I did. It’s Christmas,” Javi smiles, secretly enjoying how you say his name in person.
You both go to baggage claim and the coffee shop before opening your gifts. You and Javi match each others’ stride, your hands accidentally brushing against one another a few times. Finally, Javi decides to throw caution to the wind and grabs your hand, sliding his fingers between yours. You glance down before smiling at him, trying to hide how giddy you are from the simple gesture. When you arrive at the coffee shop, you sit in the same corner you were previously in and settle in your seats.
“So,” Javi slides his gift over to you, pulling his toward him, “What’d you get me?”
“Why don’t you open it and see?” you lean over the table in wait, your smile from earlier still not quite leaving your lips.
“That I will do,” Javi says, carefully opening his gift.
“This is a lovely color,” he pulls the sweater out and fully takes it in, “Very soft. You did a great job because I love sweaters.”
“I’m glad you love it,” you sink into your seat with relief.
“Now, open yours,” Javi pushes your gift in your direction with a single finger.
“Is it going to explode in my face?” you joke as you pull the wrapping off.
“I swear it won’t,” Javi laughs.
You open the box to reveal a beautiful necklace with your birthstone dangling from the chain.
“This looks expensive, Javi. Please tell me you didn’t spend an arm and a leg on this,” you gasp.
“No promises,” Javi shrugs, getting up from his seat and walking behind you, holding out a hand for the necklace, “May I?”
You gently place the jewelry into his palm, lifting your hair so Javi can put the necklace around your neck. His fingers brush your skin lightly as he clasps the chain successfully, “There we go.”
Javi sits and admires how the necklace falls onto your collarbone with a glimmer in his eyes, “Looks beautiful on you.”
You’re nearly this close to being on the floor, curled into an inconsolable ball. Instead of doing that, you cover your face in embarrassment.
“Gosh, thank you for the gift, Javi,” you move your hands from your face, “I wasn’t expecting something so stunning. I would’ve gotten you something slightly better if I had known.”
“You can’t sit here and tell me this wool sweater wasn’t pricey enough. It’s okay, you know. Besides, I like giving gifts I know someone will love; the price doesn’t matter.”
You sigh, shaking your head with a smile and resting your chin on your fist, “Whatever you say, Javi.”
Javi mimics your position but reaches his other hand out to wrap it around your wrist gently, “I love it when you say my name.”
You stare at each other momentarily, just taking each other in. It had been a year of wondering what Javi was like in person- how tall he was, how he smelled, how he carried himself. You realize he has a million freckles on his face that you never noticed in the photos he sent. Javi brushes his thumb over your pulse point, and you’re close to losing your composure. You’re both so wrapped up in drinking each other in that you nearly jump out of your skin when the barista calls someone’s name for their order.
You compose yourself, but Javi lightly chuckles at your facial expression.
“I’m super awkward sometimes, but you know that already,” you try to joke about the situation instead of dying of shyness.
“It’s okay, I think it’s cute.”
“You’re going to make me turn into a puddle if you don’t stop,” you cover your face again, the tips of your ears burning.
Javi just laughs again. You realize his laugh is better in person than over the phone.
Over your order of coffee and iced tea, you and Javi decide to have a proper dinner later on in the day. Both of you are pretty tired and would appreciate refreshing yourselves at your respective hotels first. You hold hands again while exiting the airport and offer Javi a ride to where he’s staying.
“It’s just a walk down the block. I’ll be fine.”
“But it’s cold,” you frown.
“I’ll live, I promise.” Javi pulls your head to his chest before planting a kiss on the top of it.
Your body grows warm at the endearing gesture, “See you later?’
“See you later,” Javi smiles before making his way out of the parking garage.
You immediately call your best friend when you get in the car and discuss how the initial meeting went while on your way to the hotel.
“Did you kiss?!” they squeal.
“Not yet,” you say, “I don’t expect anything to happen today. We held hands, though.”
“Spicy!” your best friend says, “Next thing you know, you’ll be having kids.”
“Will you ever be quiet?” you jokingly ask your best friend.
You take a well-needed nap after checking into the hotel, setting an alarm for an hour from the time you laid down. When you wake up, you notice it’s snowing outside. The place Javi wants to take you is a few blocks away from his and your hotels, and you figure you’ll enjoy the snow during your walk.
You fix your makeup a little and add some final touches here and there to your face and hair before deciding on one of the skirts you brought. A thick sweater and some tights are thrown with it, and you’re ready to go. Javi shoots you a message asking if you’re ready, and you respond quickly before leaving the hotel. The evening is pleasant, with the snow falling softly for the entire duration of your walk. When you arrive at the restaurant, Javi is waiting for you at the door, as handsome as ever in some black slacks, a dress shirt, and a heavy petticoat draped over his shoulders. He wraps an arm around you as you both enter the restaurant, where you’re immediately whisked away to a table with a nice view. Wine is ordered, and you take a moment to drink Javi in as he sits across from you. You nearly have to pinch yourself to believe this is real and actually happening.
“So,” you lean forward, hand tucked under your chin, “You never told me about your endeavors while in college. I’ve been dying to know about that storm chasing you brought up but never knew when to ask.”
Javi smiles, “Yes, it was a very wild time in my life. I don’t talk about it often. What did you want to know?”
“Why did you do it? Just curious.”
“Well, Javi clears his throat, “It was actually my best friend Kate’s idea. She had this big project that required extensive information about storms and tornadoes in particular.”
“Gotcha,” you lean back in your chair, “Ever see any scary storms?”
“We saw a few, but the scariest one was a five on the Fujita scale. It didn’t end very well for us,” Javi casts his eyes down.
“You don’t have to keep talking about it if you don’t want to,” you reach out your hand to put on top of Javi’s, sensing the topic is touchy.
“No, it’s something you need to know about me. So I’ll tell you,” he explains, “It was me, Kate, and three of our other friends, Addy, Praveen, and Jeb, working on the project together. We didn’t anticipate the tornado to be as strong as it got, and everyone but Kate and I ended up dying as a result of being caught in the storm.”
“I’m so sorry, Javi. That sounds scary and awful. I’m glad you made it through that,” you frown, and Javi meets your eyes for a moment.
“Sometimes I wonder why I’m one of the ones who survived. It bothered me a lot, so much that I decided to drop out of college and go into the military. I needed some stability in my life after that.”
“I understand,” you say, “We can talk about something else if you’d like. I know this is probably hard for you to think about.”
The rest of the evening is spent laughing over stories of Javi and his late friends and the ones he’s made in the military. You tell him wild stories of you and your best friend, some of which he couldn’t believe. After a few too many glasses of wine, the two of you decide to call it a night.
“I had a wonderful time,” you say as Javi hooks your arm with his, and the two of you leave the restaurant.
It’s still snowing lightly, and the temperature has dropped significantly. You pull your coat closer to your chest. Javi notices and opts to wrap his arm around you, pulling you into his side to warm you.
“I had a great time, too,” Javi grins.
He walks you to your hotel, and you thank him for dinner.
“Heading out in the morning?” you ask as the two of you stand outside the hotel entrance.
“Yes,” Javi says, his hands shoved into his coat pockets, “I’m seeing my aunt and uncle and then heading to Miami for my parents and sister.”
“That’s good,” you nod, “I am having a Christmas party with some friends and family in a  few days, and I’m looking forward to it.”
“Sounds fun,” Javi says, and you notice the two of you don’t really want to depart quite yet, but you must.
“You should probably get back. It’s getting cold and late,” you nudge Javi’s arm with yours.
“Yeah, I should,” he trails off, his eyes not leaving yours.
For a moment, you stare into Javi’s eyes, taking in their color and the length of his eyelashes. Before you realize it, you’re both leaning in. Javi slides his hand up your neck to cup your face, his skin warm despite the freezing air. He guides your face to his, his eyes fluttering shut as he gently presses his lips to yours. Your eyes close, too, and you allow Javi to take control of the kiss. You wrap your arms around his neck, pulling him closer. When it’s time for air, you both pull away.
“You have no idea how long I’ve been wanting to do that,” Javi whispers, the corners of his mouth twitching into a smile.
“Same here,” you say, playing with the curls at the nape of Javi’s neck.
“I should get going,” Javi frowns, “But I will definitely keep in touch the best I can over the next few days.”
“Okay,” you say, “Enjoy your Christmas.”
Javi begins to walk away, and you turn to go inside your hotel. But then Javi pauses, stopping in the middle of the sidewalk.
“Wait, what are you doing New Year's Eve?” he asks, and you can’t help the grin that sneaks up on your face.
“Depends. What are you doing?”
“Anything with you.”

‘Promise’ - Javier ‘Javi’ x Kate Carter & F! reader (angst!)
someone asked for a part two and I realized how good of an idea that was lmao. I need indirect ways to incorporate my past experiences into my fics anyway.
part one
prompt: you made a promise to distance yourself from Javi and Kate
TW: mentions of smoking, some detailed mention of self harm, suicidal thoughts, mentions of nausea, disordered eating, breakdowns, smoking, angst :(
Do NOT proceed if the triggers mentioned above upset you greatly. You have been warned.
Tumblr media
I made a promise
To distance myself
Once Tyler dropped you off to the train station, you smiled and waved until you couldn’t see his truck anymore. You wanted to hang onto any last string of familiarity for as long as you could.
Especially since your life would change completely - for better or worse.
You took a deep breath, closing your eyes for a moment, trying to calm down your trembling body.
5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
5 things you see - the train station, the crumbling yellow bricks, the jolly red-white-blue american flag, your luggage, and the people. Lots of people.
4 things you hear - the people, obviously, the cicadas crying, the heavy bell ringing inside, the honking of cars for you to get out of their way.
3 things you smell - the heat - somehow, the smell of smoke from cars, and the thick air.
2 things you feel - terrified. hurt.
1 thing you taste - bitterness.
Shaking your head, you take another deep breath. Eyes dead set on the mission in front of you, you marched into the train station, bought a ticket to Oklahoma City, and settled down inside.
But now was the hardest part; waiting. What made it harder was you didn’t want to think about anything that happened yesterday. So, putting your headphones on, you made a playlist with none of the songs that reminded you of Javi or any of the ones he recommended to you. Essentially, you just listened to 3 songs in total, over and over again, but the knowledge you knew what was coming next was comforting, something you couldn’t apply to your current situation.
Took a flight, through aurora skies
Honestly, I didn't think about
How we didn't say goodbye
Just see you very soon
You woke up when the train jolted to a stop - you had fallen asleep, waking up to hear the opening notes of some song you were listening to earlier. Looking out the window, you reached Oklahoma City. With a sigh of relief and trepidation, you got your bags and headed out of the station, hailed a taxi to the airport. Booking a last minute flight back home to LA, you made your way to the gate. Setting your bag down, you sat in a char near the huge windows. Deciding it wasn’t close enough, you sat on the little raised platform attached to the window and leaned your head against it like you saw so many children do.
The boarding call was announced, and everyone sat up groggily. It all went by pretty quickly. Standing in line, getting your boarding pass stamped and your passport checked, finding you seat, putting your bag away and sitting down. Taxi and take off was a blur; luckily you got a window seat, and stared out at the pink clouds, tinted by the setting sun, a peach tone.
Peachy, just like your favourite pie.
You groaned, covering your eyes and rubbing them as your mind started to think about Oklahoma. About Javi, and the last time he saw you. And the last thing he said to you. It wasn’t even a proper goodbye, but you couldn’t blame him because he didn’t know it was goodbye.
And honestly, neither did you.
But you made yourself a promise - to distance yourself.
Those last words of his echoed in your mind.
“I- Okay, alright. Take care, (Y/N)”
It hurts to be something
It's worse to be nothing with you
You half expected a text from Javi - it had been around 24 hours since you last saw him. Since you told him you had a ‘family emergency’ to take care of. Who wouldn’t expect a little ‘you doing okay?’ or ‘safe travels’ when someone saw you break down in the middle of a field, distressed as hell? Sure, you and Javi weren’t dating, sure you both drifted apart ever since Kate got closer with him instead, but were you two not even friends anymore?
Did you mean nothing to him?
This wasn’t the first time he ghosted you - after the EF5 tornado, he didn’t say a word to you. But it was understandable why - everyone was hurting, and maybe he couldn’t bring himself to talk to you. In Oklahoma, the only times he’d talk to you is when you started a conversation, otherwise you could sit silently and he’d happily talk with Kate, leaving you be. It was never him starting anything.
And Kate. Did she figure out you liked Javi? Is that why she didn’t text you? Did she feel guilty? Part of you wanted her to feel guilty, but the other part of you didn’t want to be pitied. Part of you wanted to go back, but this - this was best for you right now. Nobody could tell you otherwise.
Instead, you got a text from Tyler.
‘hey there cowgirl - how you getting along?’
You chuckled - ‘cowgirl’ was probably the worst way to describe yourself. Instead, you typed down a response, your heart a little less heavy.
‘hey, Tyler. thanks for asking. means a lot’
He was typing, the three dots appearing on screen
‘of course. lemme know if you need anything at all okay? stay safe out there’
You sent him an affirmative text, thankful to actually have a friend who cared enough to check in on you, helping you out without questioning anything, having only known you for a week.
So I didn't call you
For sixteen long days
You found comfort in some form of familiarity in your life; back home in LA, everything looked duller, more still. Like the whole world knew about your heartbreak and was mourning, or mocking you. You tried to plunge into work, distracting yourself but sometimes, you’d just stare at your work, screen or paper, and just zone out. Your was brain still trying to process everything, and you were losing a lot over it - sleep, peace, overall joy, your will to wake up, and more.
It felt like after the EF5 tornado but worse because you knew somewhere in Oklahoma, Kate was with Javi, both of them happier than ever. It felt worse because you could never have him anymore. He was gone. And someone got to see him every day, sometimes wake up next to him, sometimes stay up all night with him. You felt like you were gonna be sick.
For a fortnight, all you could eat was cheese, bread, and grapes. It was the only thing you could keep down.
It was so hard not to text Javi. After you had just left, it’s like you were isolated for 5 years, given a taste of him, then forcing yourself to stay away. It was something you chose to do, not something you were forced to live with.
But you won’t call him. No matter how long the days felt they were dragging by.
And I should get a cigarette
For so much restraint
Walking by a drugstore to entertain yourself, you entered the establishment with an electronic ding notifying your presence. Strolling through the ailes, you picked up Sourhead Extremes (so in case you wanted to call Javi, you’d have to go through a gustatory agony first) and some nail polish, just to look pretty. Walking to the cashier, you mindlessly threw in a pack of cigarettes onto the counter, before putting them back in a jerky motion.
“What the hell…” you murmured to yourself, ashamed of what you were about to do. Buy cigarettes - to smoke.
Walking out of the store briskly, you speed-walked home; chiding yourself for almost ‘rewarding’ your no contact mission by smoking, you realized how truly pathetic you were.
“God, what is wrong with me…” you muttered, keeping your head down, watching the wet streets reflect the light of the sun and your dark sorrow.
No matter how long I resist temptation
I will always lose,
Eventually you did buy the cigarettes. You went home, lounging in your bed, a pretty china plate acting like an ashtray for you. Legs up in the air, swinging occasionally, eyes half lidded from the light high, you felt the chalky smoke fill your lungs, watching it come out in little clouds of grey air.
You felt in control for the first time since leaving Oklahoma - the cigarette sitting pretty between your red tinted fingers and lips. You smiled softly, satisfied by finally scoring a small win. You didn’t tell Tyler that you smoked. He’d say it’s a horrible habit you should give up.
Obviously it was more of a lose - giving into an impulse, and now you were at risk of falling deeper into addiction. You weren’t in control, you never really were.
But why would you make yourself feel worse when you were on the literal brink of crumbling?
Although, you didn’t get addicted. After the high wore off, you felt disgusted, throwing out the pack of almost full cigarettes. You wouldn’t tell Tyler, of course.
It hurts to be something
It’s worse to be nothing with you
Two weeks went by, and though you pretended everything was okay, it really wasn’t. You didn’t know if you missed Javi or not, but you really didn’t want to.
You don’t know if you want to see the face you loved so much, the face that lights up when he sees Kate, the face that Kate holds, kisses, caresses.. the face that she admires alongside you.
You wanted to get over him, you really did, but you cared so much about him. You didn’t want to stop caring about him, when loving him felt so… lovely.
But it hurt so much.
You barely got any sleep this past fortnight. Having a reverie about the man who daydreamed about another woman. The things you wished he did to you, he did to Kate. He was hers. So assured, so confident. No doubt in that.
For a fortnight, there you were, stripped of any text backs from him.
You were starting to think you just wanted his attention, which you dont know if you wanted anymore, knowing his attention belonged to Kate. Why would you care so much about him texting you?
But then again, weren’t you two friends?
I’ve done the math
There’s no solution
We’ll never last
Why can’t I let go of this?
Right now, you, broken, needed comfort. May it be fake hope again. Nobody was there to stop you anyway, so in your free time, you started to think of the ways Kate and Javi would have problems with each other.
‘She’s too arrogant sometimes, and he’s really down to earth’
‘She can’t communicate her feelings!’
‘Kate’s one to settle, Javi isn’t’
Of course, you knew it was wrong. Of course it was a bitchy thing to think. But who were you to care right now?
You were hurt, and you needed to feel better to even try and start to get a grip on reality. you didn’t want to rip of the band aid yet.
Not yet.
Even worse, your mind started thinking of ways you and Javi could get together; Kate could leave him in the dark again, she could get into a fight with him…
But nothing made sense - she wouldn’t leave when she looked at him that way… and any fights would be cleared quickly with Javi’s forgiving nature.
He would do anything for her.
All in all, you realized how shitty you were being, and texted Tyler, saying you couldn’t hide from Javi - couldn’t hide from the pain that haunted you. The bright lights of LA looked dull. The sun felt like a false light.
Your world was falling apart, how could the sun be shining when your world was falling apart?
‘Just walk around. Wear something that makes you feel good. Grab some good lunch downtown. Spoil yourself. Act like a damn tourist, I don’t care. Just do anything that reminds you that there’s more to life than Javi’ he wrote.
So I broke my promise
I called you last night
I shouldn’t have, I wouldn’t have
If it weren’t for the sight of a boy who
Looked just like you standing out on Melrose Avenue…
It hurts to be something
It’s worse to be nothing, with you.
Three days later, you sat on the roof of a building. The sun was setting, you looked at the streets below. People were walking - their dogs, their toddlers, and whatnot.
You were so disappointed with yourself. Closing your eyes, you thought back to everything that happened yesterday.
Following Tyler’s advice, you woke up ready to face the day.
Waking up bright and early, you went for a run, saw some pretty things on the way. You found it insane how easy it was to overlook the small things in life.
Coming home, you made breakfast; oatmeal with bananas, almond butter and chocolate chips. You savoured every bite with a smile.
You hopped into the shower, using your favourite body wash. Putting on an outfit, doing your hair and makeup, slipping on your shoes, you left the house, ready to explore the city…
All was going well until sunset.
You were walking along the streets of LA, acting like you’d never seen anything like it before. A coffee in hand, you walked confidently down the path, turning a corner to browse a bookstore on Melrose Avenue, when someone caught your eye.
A boy, waiting for the light signal to turn green, who looked exactly like Javi.
You froze.
Suddenly, you didn’t want coffee any more. You didn’t want anything right now but to go home.
You rushed home, trying so hard to control your breathing, then stumbling desperately to your room. As soon as your face crashed against the pillows, the soft, gentle fabric a perfect medium to absorb the tears now flowing down your face. You sobbed, curled into a still-bedazzled ball on your bed, hugging yourself, contracting into a fibonacci.
Reaching for your purse, you pulled out your phone, scrolling through your contacts. Through the wet and blurry lens of your tears, you scrolled into the alphabet until you reached the ‘J’ section. The first name was Javi.
Pressing on his name, then the ‘call’ button, you held it to your ear, taking shuddering breaths as you tried calming yourself down. The your phone cooed like a pigeon, signalling his phone, somewhere in Oklahoma, was ringing.
You were clean. Clean for a little over 2 weeks. Clean from his voice ringing in your ears, new words exchanged and whatnot.
But as you held your phone in your hand, crying, watching it reach Javi’s phone, waiting for him to answer, it all felt like a relapse.
Like the feeling of the cool blade on your skin, slicing through, leaving an angry red river in its wake.
The sick, high feeling you get from it - the ecstasy, watching you destroy yourself, finding beauty in the rubble.
Some part of you, the logical part of you was screaming to press the red button. To leave Javi alone. It wasn’t fair for you to reach out first, right? Why would you make a fool out of yourself by calling him? You’re not that desperate for him, are you?
But the hurt, emotional, desperate part of you didn’t, daring him to answer. Just to remind him of your existence. Just this once.
Still fighting the internal battle, you delved deeper into why he didn’t call you yet.
Did Kate tell him everything? Did she finally find out? Did she realize at all about how hurt you were?
The anger only just started to hit you, claiming your brain as a new population to be corrupted, a new host for the parasite, a new fruit to rot.
You were mad. You didn’t know at who. But you decided you were mad at Kate. For dating him. You knew it was wrong to be mad, because you had no claim over Javi, but you were too deep into your anger to actually think of a better way to cope. Suddenly, you were so mad at Kate. So, so mad. Part of you wanted to tear your house down, scream like a mad woman, but you didn’t. Your dwindling self control kept you in check.
Then came the sadness. You were so mad at Kate, but she was so happy right now. She didn’t care or know how your felt right now. how hurt you felt right now. She had Javi. Her Javi. And they were both happy - oh so happy, oh so blissfully unaware of how you felt right now.
They were happy - they were perfectly fine without you. Because they didn’t need you as a friend, not like they did in college - maybe they didn’t back then either, because they had each other. That’s all they needed. Each other was all they needed.
You were so deep into the crevices of your mind, drowning in both pain and relief, you almost didn’t hear your name drenched in Javi’s voice coming from the speaker.
‘[name]?’

boone request !! i would love to see kate bringing along her friend from new york who’s like a girl version of scott !! maybe she’s a bit in love with scott but it’s one sided so she finds comfort in boones sweet nature and falls for him
His Warmth Melts Ice | Boone x Reader
Tumblr media
Warnings: Weed, reader smokes
A/N: No one can convince me Boone isn’t a stoner.
You were in a bad mood. You were almost always in a bad mood but today’s mood was particularly foul. Because of a man. You cursed yourself for letting a man have this much of an effect on your mood.
It’s not like you were in love with Scott but he was exactly your type and the two of you basically had the same personality. So his cold indifference to you hurt. He was meaner to Kate though.
Scott was currently ignoring you both, in an argument with Javi. “I’m gonna go get a drink,” you mumbled to Kate. “Okay,” she patted your arm. You made your way to the convenience store, trailing behind Tyler Owens and his crew.
They all filed into the store but the last guy, Tyler’s camera man, you recognized him, caught a glimpse of you behind him. His eyes widened and he stepped back to hold the door open for you. His friend gave him a weird look.
“Thanks,” you mumbled, walking past him.
You were getting a slushie from the machine when the same guy sidled up next to you. “Hey,” he greeted you eagerly. “I’m Boone. You’re Kate’s friend, right?” You briefly wondered how Boone knew Kate’s name, but then remembered Tyler talking to Kate yesterday.
“Yeah,” you answered coldly. You didn’t offer your name. This didn’t deter Boone though. “What’s your name, honey?”
You side-eyed him. He wasn’t really your type, but you had to admit he was cute.
“(Name),” you replied after a minute.
“(Name),” he repeated, your name rolling off his tongue smoothly. “What a pretty name for a pretty girl.”
You kept your face carefully blank and didn’t respond.
“Boone!” Tyler barked from the door. “Come on!” Boone gave him the finger before turning back to you. “Gotta go. See you around, East Coast!”
You watched him follow Tyler out the door. You rolled your neck before capping your slushie and paying for it up at the counter. Then you made your way back to Javi and Kate.
The second time you talked to Boone was at a local bar. Both Storm Par and the Wranglers had coincidentally chosen the location to unwind for the night after a day of chasing. You were sat at the bar, pounding back drinks. Maybe you had some alcoholic tendencies.
“East Coast!” A cheerful voice rang out.
You turned on the bar stool to face Boone. “Boone,” you greeted flatly. His eyes wandered over to the plethora of empty glasses on the counter in front of you. “Good lord, girl,” he whistled. “How are you not knocked on your ass right now?”
You shrugged.
“Wanna dance?”
“I don’t dance.”
“I can teach you.”
“I don’t dance.”
Boone shrugged, helping himself to the stool next to you. “That’s alright, baby, we can just sit here.”
You felt your cheeks warm. You blamed it on the alcohol.
“So tell me, East Coast, what brings you ‘round these parts?”
You sipped from your waterbottle. “Javi brought Kate on board to help track storms because she’s a natural at predicting all things tornado. I came for moral support.”
“Aw, what a sweet friend you are,” Boone beams at you. “How long have you and Kate been friends?”
Normally you’d be sarcastic until he stopped asking questions, but the liquor loosened your tongue and lowered your defenses. “Five years. We met her first week in New York.”
Boone seemed genuinely interested. “Tell me about you, East Coast.”
It had been a long time since anyone wanted to hear anything about you. You didn’t know what to say. Boone seemed to pick up on how the question stumped you. “What’s something you love?”
“The ocean,” you answered in a heartbeat.
Boone blinked. “The ocean?”
You nodded, getting a far off look in your eye. “I’m at home when I’m near the sea.”
“Well you’re a far way from home, East Coast.”
You shrugged.
“Any siblings?”
“Two younger brothers.”
Boone hummed. “That’s nice, I always wanted a sibling growing up.”
“You’re an only child?”
“Yup!” Boone exclaimed. “But Tyler’s like my brother.”
You both looked over to Tyler, who was currently in a staredown with Javi while Kate stood between them looking uncomfortable.
“Oh lord,” you muttered. You stood to go intervene, but Boone stopped you with a hand on your shoulder. “Let it play out,” he encouraged. “That lil love triangle is their problem.”
It was true, you really didn’t feel like getting involved. “Yeah, okay,” you grumbled, turning back in your seat. You flagged down the bartender for another shot. He set it down in front of you and you knocked it back while Boone watched you.
“Well it was nice talking to you,” you told Boone flatly. Although while you’d never admit it out loud, you’d enjoyed it. You stood on shockingly steady feet, and Boone mirrored your action. “Aw, you leavin’?”
“Yup.” You stood awkwardly, unsure of the right way to end this interaction. Something felt wrong about just walking away.
Almost like Boone sensed your inner turmoil again, he held out his hand. You took it reluctantly, and Boone raised your hand to his lips and kissed the back of it.
“Goodnight, gorgeous,” Boone winked, before turning and making his way back to his group. You watched him go, caught off guard by the move. You shook your head like the physical action would clear your thoughts before tipping the bartender and going back to your motel room.
The third time you talked to Boone was in a much more intimate setting. It was late, real late, late enough that the tailgate outside the motel was packing up as everyone headed to bed. You’d been stargazing in a field, so you were late coming back to your room.
You spotted him before he spotted you this time. Tyler’s truck was parked right next to the stairs you’d need to take to your room. Boone was sitting in the bed of the truck with one of his crew members, the girl with short hair who you always saw in the RV. The rest of his crew wasn’t around, you assumed they’d gone to bed.
You didn’t say anything nor look at him as you went to ascend the stairs, but despite that…
“Hey, ocean girl!” Boone’s friend called to you. You don’t think she’s talking to you at first, but there’s no one else around.
“Sorry?” You raised an eyebrow.
“Come talk to Boone, he’s been missing you!”
“Dani!” Boone scowled and hit her lightly in the arm.
You felt a smile creep onto your face and turned it into a smirk. You walked over to them, standing in front of the truck bed and crossing your arms.
“Booney baby,” you cooed mockingly. “Did you miss me?”
Boone’s face turned bright red and you accidentally giggled. A grin spread across Boone’s flushed face at the sound. Emboldened by a show of your real emotions, he responded, “Maybe I did.”
Dani glanced between you two, smirking before standing and jumping out the bed of the truck. She motioned for you to take her place. “I’m going to bed. You two have fun,” she winked.
Reluctantly, you did end up taking her place in the bed of the truck.
“You smoke?” Boone asked, pulling out a bong. “I do.” Who were you to turn down free weed?
Boone grinned, setting the bong between his feet and pulling out a grinder. As he began packing the bowl, you asked, “So why’d your friend call me ‘ocean girl’?”
Boone didn’t look at you as he continued to pack the bowl. His cheeks turned pink but you could hardly tell in the lighting. “I might have mentioned you.”
“What’d you say?” you asked curiously.
“Ask me later.” Boone handed you the bong and pulled out a lighter. He lit the bowl for you and you took a hit. You passed it back to Boone. Boone took a hit. “So what are you doing coming back to your room so late?” He passed you the bong.
“I was stargazing in a field,” you answered before putting your lips to the bong. Boone watched you intensely as you took a hit and blew the smoke. “That sounds nice,” he finally said. He took the bong when you offered.
“It was.” You’d only taken two hits, but as large as they were and as good as Boone’s weed was, you were feeling pleasantly relaxed.
“Why are you up so late?”
Boone blew smoke. “Oh I’m always the last one to go to bed, I smoke before I sleep every night.”
Boone continued lighting the bowl for you every time it was your turn.
You finished the bowl and you were both perfectly high. The conversation flowed as you both relaxed in the truck bed. Time flew by and before you knew it, you’d been there for an hour.
“Hey,” you said with a smirk. “Guess what it is.”
Boone looked confused. “Huh?”
“It’s later,” you drawled. “So what did you tell your friends about me?”
Boone was high enough that he actually answered you truthfully.
“They been askin’ bout you since I held the door open for you at the gas station. Cause they noticed how interested in you I was. Then I learned a little about you and of course they demanded to know what…”
“Why were you so interested in me?”
“I thought you were real pretty,” Boone said simply. “And I’m loving every second of getting to know you.”
You blushed, thankful it was dark out and he probably couldn’t see it. You didn’t know what to say now though. “...Thank you,” you eventually managed. “It’s been… nice to get to know you too.” Weed made you too honest.
Uncomfortable with how intimate it had become, not because of Boone but just because of your anxiety, you clambered out of the truck bed. “Goodnight, Boone. Thanks for the sesh.” You didn’t know what to do to let him know he hadn’t done anything wrong, so you just reached into the bed and patted his thigh. Then you turned and went to your room.
Boone was weird after that. Your message hadn’t gotten across, because Boone one hundred percent believed he had scared you off.
You felt awful, for some reason, and even Scott had noticed the absolute drop in your mood. Kate was worried.
You found yourself seeking him out after a week because he hadn’t sought you out. You couldn’t get a chance to get him alone, but you knew you had to talk to him. So you boldly approached his entire group at a tailgate a week later.
Boone looked excited to see you, to your relief.
“East Coast! You comin’ to see me?”
You rolled your eyes but couldn’t help but smile. “I did. Could we take a walk? I wanted to talk to you.”
Boone jumped down from the top of the truck, eagerly following you. You both fell into step side by side next to the empty road.
“I’m sorry about the other night,” you said quietly.
“Aw, it’s okay, I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable.”
“You didn’t.”
Boone looked at you but you looked away.
“I just got nervous.”
Boone was silent for a moment. “Yeah?” His voice was quiet.
“If you were saying that you like me, I like you too.”
Boone stopped walking, grabbing your shoulders in his hands. “Can I kiss you?” He almost whispered the question. You nodded eagerly. Boone cupped your face in his hands and kissed you sweetly.
You felt your heart start beating faster.
You clung to Boone’s shirt as he kissed you. His mustache tickled under your nose, but it was soft.
When Boone pulled back, he rested his forehead against yours as you both caught your breath. “So do you maybe wanna go on a date?”
You smiled genuinely, purely happy.
“Definately.”

RODEO — Javi Rivera.
Tumblr media
A/N: got the chance to see twisters on my birthday and it ofc inspired me to finally write something for Anthony lol. This isn’t going to be anything big since I still want to be on break until late September early October. Am I going to give Javi the love his deserves or am I going to be messy? What type of summer is it? A brat girl summer…whatever that means 😉
WARNINGS: language + stepping out of relationships, mentions of another character from challengers, reader and Kate don’t get along, mentions of minor smut/sexual relations, and ended up different than I originally planned. Enjoy!
*ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻*ੈ✩‧₊˚ *ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻*ੈ✩‧₊˚ *ੈ✩‧₊˚
A text on short notice never bothered you.
Granted you had to take a ride from Brooklyn to Manhattan but majority of the time Javi was considerate, letting you know when he was going to be on your new side of town—you were a South Carolina native—and the both of you would make it work. He had this experiment that he worked on with his old friend Kate that actually proved to work this time and with some other guy that had the widest laughter lines you’ve ever seen. A classic cowboy—you deemed him as—that looked awfully familiar when you met him in passing at a dinner you didn’t know you were “imposing” in on.
Kate’s words not Javi or the cowboy’s.
The trio were going back and forth to the city, mostly Kate and the cowboy you learned to be named Tyler but once Javi learned you were in the city too? (Apparently Kate found a home in New York also, working in Mahattan after what went down in Oklahoma five years ago.) He had no problem trying to get to you. You learned that Kate didn’t approve of what you two had going on (Javi let it slip one night as he smacked on some chips and you sipping on some terribly made Kombucha around the outside of the usual meet up spot once he touched down in NY), considering that you were engaged to someone else and that someone was slowly rising in the public eye, Patrick Zweig…you may or may not know him.
Tyler did.
To keep it short, this wouldn’t be the first time that you didn’t give a fuck about what Kate Carter had to say about you. Back in college the both of you tried to get along but it’s just the common case of two people not being able to mesh well. You didn’t appreciate how Kate always felt like she was right, sure the girl was crazy intelligent but she didn’t enjoy your sarcasm or want to listen to your opinions on anything, she found your lack of drive for storm chasing to be confusing on why you bothered to hang out with the group when that was their sole connection, and didn’t understand the relationship you had with her boyfriend, Jeb who was actually your friend first and you were the one who introduced them at a party—it was childish sure but even years later you didn’t need her judgment.
Which is why you and Javi were always discreet. Moments with your college friend in the present never felt like enough but reminded you that you often wondered what it would have been like if you had a different ring on your finger given to you by someone else. Javi always made it his mission to take it right off, slamming it in the drawer beside the bed before interlocking his fingers right with yours as he rocked you into the temporary mattress.
That never lasted long since you loved to be on top. Just ask Tyra’s problematic self! And who was Javi to say no, having you above him like this? like the true goddess that loved to be in control, you never left his mind, even when he struggled to keep his eyes open at the rotation of your hips. His fingertips would leave bruises but you never complained, you liked him leaving marks. Javi felt like this should be wrong, of course he cared about you, maybe even more than that, always did but he had his head turned in a different direction once upon a time. He wasn’t sure if your feelings were genuine or just something to pass the time but he was the first person you told that you didn’t want to marry Patrick after accepting his proposal.
People pleasing was never something that you often did so why were you settling for a man who was fucking around with not only his ex but some strangers on tinder? Javi did his research on your fiancé, some tennis athlete that didn’t have the best stats which was odd since it seemed like he was in his prime in college, Javi would give him credit on that, it was evident that this Patrick guy knew how to play yet something was missing in his gameplay. It was also safe to say that Javi didn’t think Patrick was even your type to be honest…but maybe you had other people in your head too much about where you should be in life.
When it was time to have those deep conversations, like you were nineteen again, present you didn’t want to hear it majority of the time with your fingers in his curls and another hand feeling a part of Javi that was always ready for you. Javi always cursed himself for folding every time you got your hands on him, he wanted to know what was going to become of this relationship but he couldn’t help it.
A piece of your heart was okay for a little while.
There was something about you that he never wanted to let go. You weren’t with the crew when that tornado touched down in Oklahoma that day, you got into an argument with Jeb that day for putting you on the back burner for their project, and as usual Javi checked in on you the best that he could since he was also part of the experiment. You brushed it off like you always did, tired of being the main one to put your frustrations out there; since you were basically the black sheep to the group and clocked into your shitty part time job with Javi promising that he would come check you out once they were done out there. The aftermath of it all also whipped through the friendship that was once there. There was tension no doubt, misdirected anger of course, your unresolved feelings for Jeb, Javi wishing he could have been at two places at once—as if he could have saved his friends from something so destructive with just his two hands. Kate became a ghost, you actually didnt have much to say to her like you thought you would, she was a walking frostbite, with a limp so prominent, disconnected, and leaving a numbing coldness trail behind her everywhere she went the longer she stayed in Oklahoma. It was sad because you knew she had to witness it all and that would forever haunt her.
Unfortunately that bitterness gave you joy. Javi dropped out of college but you kept at it, to distract you from the what if’s along with the great loss and when he thought the military was his best option, you tried to beg him to stay with a kiss that wasn’t the answer to your shared pain. He’s done the dissociating shit before as a way of grieving, he just hoped that you being with him now wasn’t your way of escaping whatever you were still running from.
Storm chasing wasn’t really your thing, don’t think you didnt try but Kinesiology and bull riding was more of your passion. Javi liked to trace and kiss those scars on your body because of that old hobby when you allowed him to hold you afterwards but he had them memorized just like you with his freckles. Yet you still kept coming around which really confused Kate but you got along with everyone else for the most part. The dance parties and stick and poke tattoos with Addy, the 150 questions the hypochondriac Praveen had for you about body horror stories he caught himself reading and watching! And wanting to know what proper care he would have (as if you were suddenly a doctor and not a kinesiology major) to take if that ever happened to him—getting struck by lighting wasn’t enough to get him to stop storm chasing but it was his life and he lived it how he wanted, and then there was Jeb. You used to be able to catch each other’s eyes from across the room and send each other ridiculous facial expressions before carrying on and eventually finding each other later. The shift in your friendship changed once you got left outside of the team. You began to connect with party-man Javi once Jeb started to slip away and build something more with Kate.
It’s always funny how that works out in friend groups isn’t it?
Coming in sync was always something you made your priority. Knowing Javi’s ticks and studying not only his face but his body always made you kick it up a notch, just crossing a boundary that you knew he would try to tap out but you proved to know his body better than he did himself and Javi honestly wanted to hate you for it but couldn’t.
He didn’t think anybody could lock you down—not even your fiancé—and it was something he always thought of when you put your back to him and let him to hold you while you briefly checked your phone.
No new messages from the Fiancé!
Javi peeped.
This Patrick guy didn’t give a fuck about you, just liked having a place to rest his head in instead of his car that you probably paid majority of the rent on. That’s right, Javi always remembered your blabbering once you had too many aperol spritz and what seemed to open you up more on a personal level lately.
“Want something from the café downstairs?” You asked, turning your phone face down to peek back at Javi who was still panting.
Javi slowly blinked, lifting his head in search of the alarm clock to find out what time it is.
[1:40 am]
You were making it your mission to try everything at least once on the menu every time Javi flew in. It was your usual hotel with a delicious café and you just about finished everything on the lunch and dinner menu except for two items that didn’t seem that appetizing to you. This time around you snuck up behind Javi and his laptop while he was downstairs about to dig into one of the dinners he wouldn’t share with you at one of the high rise tables…you were onto the breakfast menu.
He slips his free arm to caress the bone by your ear, “I want you.”
You snort, “I’ll give you another round when you can handle it, preferably in the shower since I’m meeting the girls at 8 for hot yoga. Breakfast can come as early as 6.”
The freckled face man fought the urge to roll his eyes at this. Since when the hell were into hot yoga of all things? The rough around the edges person seemed to be morphed into something else but Javi knew you were still in there somewhere. Don’t get him wrong, Yeah people grow and you’re into what you want to be into but he would have never guessed you hanging out doing yoga or brunch or even having a routine. Maybe axe throwing but he guessed he better be thankful for the yoga since you seemed to be more flexible every time the both of you tried a new position.
Javi tossed in, “is your bitch of a soon to be husband, Patrick joining in on that session?”
You quirk up a brow at this energy but don’t work to defend him, “…never mix business with pleasure.”
Which meant that you never brought multiple parties into your relationship together. He did his thing and you did yours. Patrick was never faithful to you, you knew it and Javi knew it too, you couldn’t be upset about it because you never truly wanted to marry him. There was no wedding date set because frankly the both of you were still young and trying to figure it out. It was selfish since you were still holding out hope that Patrick will actually make something of himself but you both weren’t sure if you even liked each other besides having nightcaps or getting people off your backs when you were seen together. The both of you were lonely, him more than you—if you wanted to make it a competition but it’s what worked and it didn’t need to make sense. It just made Patrick’s family (who were a lot to handle and always kept referring to two of his exes before you in front of you) happy that he had a “stable” person in his life for once and it got your parents off your back—some—but not without their own sly comments.
“Is that what your relationship is?”
You shrug, “yeah.”
“And what about us?”
You turn your face away to reach for the card, “i think you’ll like the BLT French toast or even the prosciutto toast—
He nudges your face back to meet his sunlit honey eyes and there wasn’t an ounce of humor in them. “Listen, I’m serious. We got too much history to keep downplayin’ this. I’m moving back to Miami by the end of the summer and I just want to know how much longer we’re gonna keep doing this. Is this only just sex for you or what?”
Javi’s thumb burns into your skin now and his stare is sharp. You try not to get lost in his eyes and the tightness in your chest isn’t the most pleasant. You’re scared and have been scared before with Jeb but there’s no risk without action. Or whatever it is they say.
“…if you’re in love with me, just say that.”
Javi blinks, “What I know is that you won’t be marrying Patrick Twig—
“That’s not—
“I’m not done.”
Javi ignores the tilt of your head at his command, “You’re better than this and I know you see that when you look in the mirror. Maybe you didn’t fully heal yet and that’s not me tryin’ to disrespect you or nothing but I’m just callin’ it like I see it. I could give you the world besides just this or shit, as least try to but only if that’s what you want because I know what you need and it definitely ain’t a bozo who can’t even take care of what he thinks is his.”
You can always count on Javier Rivera to tell you exactly how it is. He was on your case about your feelings for Jeb just like you were with his with Kate but that all changed once the two started dating. It would have made sense for the both of you to gravitate towards each other then but the need to compensate for what you both missed out on wasnt fulfilling that void with forced love. It was platonic then but what was it now?
“…Do you think I’m yours?”
Javi puffs out a breath at this, “respectfully, imma need you to stop answering me with questions and just be honest with yourself and me. I don’t know how much longer I can keep holding out.”
“But you don’t, not unless I say so anyways.” You wink reaching to caress the back of his shoulder blade but Javi isn’t budging, which makes you sigh, “…okay fine. I hear you, you don’t want to be in a situationship with me anymore.”
Javi nods and awaits for you to say more but the glazed over look in your eyes, tells him that you’re trying to get out of this and he won’t lie, it stings.
“Here’s the thing,” you start with an intake of breath, “you’re right, I’m probably never going to marry Patrick. We’re equally each other’s placeholders, as fucked up as it sounds it’s true. As for this…”
Javier swallows the lump in his throat, just waiting on you to break his heart.
“You’re not the first person to pull this. It’s not my first rodeo…and no that doesn’t mean I’ve been with anyone else outside of you. I wouldn’t do that, not to you. You’re too important.” You admit, “and if we’re gonna do this…I just need you to be patient with me.”
A grin splits onto Javi’s face then, “so that does mean you love me?!”
“…I didn’t say all that.”
He smooches your cheek multiple times that makes your nose crinkle, “you didn’t have to, I can just tell.”
“How?” You ask as he rests his head back on the cloud-like pillow beside yours.
Javi hums, “I’m real in touch with my feminine side you know? Raised by my mom and aunties, got a sister that really wants to meet you—
“Huh? What?”
“Baby steps though,” Javi promises seeing the smidge of panic in your eyes, “I just need more confirmation that you’re going to try this with me. And that you’re not gonna run away since that is kinda what we all do.”
It was your turn to be vulnerable like Javi knew you could be. So you turn to face Javi, face to face and take a moment. “…I can’t say that I’m not scared and not of you but just the idea of actually being loved more than the intimacy and I’m sure you’re more than capable of giving that to me…it’s just that I get in my head a lot.”
Javi nods, “well it’s okay to be scared…Rome wasnt built in a day. We’ve been diligent—
“What if this doesn’t work—
“Nah, we’re not gonna back out when we just started.” Javi slips his hands down to clasp your hands in his, “We keep going, we love, we share—
“Just like your sandwich last night?”
Javi snorts, “we’re all works in progress, don’t hold that against me, baby.” He pecks your hands while you laugh a little, “we do what feels right and I got to ask, does this feel right to you as it does for me?”
You press your forehead against his, “every time I’m with you it does…as much as I try to block you out when we’re away from each other…I can’t. I wont.”
Javi pulls back to kiss your forehead, “bet. Feelings mutual and i just needed to hear you say it so…now that we’re on the same page…go ahead and order me that prosciutto and meet me in the shower.”
He’s kicking the covers back as you sit up on your elbow, “I’m not debating over which asscheek of yours is bigger than the other again.”
Javi sucks his teeth as leans against the doorway of sliding bathroom door in all his naked glory, “you pointed that out, I just wanted to know if the freckles on my left asscheek were also shaped like a palm tree like the ones on my chest.”
Scrunching up your nose, you hold your hand up in the air as if that defense was any better. Javi’s laughter suddenly turns dark as he takes in your appearance and slowly steps back as something stands to your attention.
“So…you joinin’ me or are you just going to continue watching the show?” He points behind himself, slowly stepping back.
Sighing you fold your arms back behind you, “ah…I’ll think about it finster.”
Javi sucks his teeth, stomping right back into the room to yank the tight hotel sheets back from the bed making you hiss at the coolness of the AC. “No way you just compared me to a rugrat.”
He pulls you right into his arms, limbs locking around him easily as you toy with the ends of his curls as he spins you around to lead you right into the bathroom, “did I?” You tease, bumping your nose against his before pulling back, “wait! You didn’t let me order.”
“Guess we’re skipping breakfast now and you might be late to yoga, sorry not sorry.” He mutters before slamming his lips right against yours.
Your thighs alone clench right around his hips as Javi slips his tongue along the shape of your lips while feeling around for the shower latch.
This time around, as sure as you are of the racing of your heart, you’re willing to let Javi lead this round…for now.

Javier "Javi" Rivera NSFW Alphabet
Pairing: Javi X Reader
Tumblr media
A = Aftercare (what they're like after sex)
he’s a real sweetheart when it comes to aftercare with you
If you got cramps from what position he had you in he’ll give you a massage while he whispers sweet nothings into your ear until you fall asleep in his arms
B = Body part (your favorite body part of his and his favorite body part of yours)
What isn’t there to love about this man?
He loves you entirely but he loves your thighs and being stuck between them
C = Cum (anything to do with cum basically)
He loves to stuff you full with his seed
He doesn’t care if he’s cumming in your mouth or in one of your other holes, he just loves to make your insides warm
D = Dominant (how dominant he is)
He’s a soft dom but if you constantly tease him or he’s jealous then he’ll happily rail you into the mattress or the backseat of his truck in a heart beat
If you want to be in charge for a night he’ll happily let you
E = experience (how experienced he is and does he know what he's doing)
He’s pretty experienced but not in a slept around with an entire bar type of way
He was a very experimental young adult once he moved out and got his own place
F = Favorite position
He loves any position as long as he’s with you but if he had to pick one he’s pick missionary
He loves watching your reactions when he hits all your good spots and from how deep he is inside you
G = Goofy (is he more serious in the moment or does he crack jokes)
He’s serious in the moment because he always has his heart set on making you feel the best he possibly can but aftercare he might tell you a couple jokes then continue to praise you until you fall asleep
H = Hair (Hair pulling)
He loves when you pull his curly locks of hair
Tugging his hair is one of the main ways to get him to make the most desperate noises for you
I = Intimacy (how is he during the moment, romantic aspect)
He’s very romantic when it comes to you and anything to do with sex
He will do anything to make you see stars after he takes you out on a romantic candle lit dinner date whenever he isn’t busy with chasing down another storm
J = Jealousy (Is he the jealous type)
It depends on who
If he sees Tyler or (all gods forbid) Scott getting too close to you then yes 100% he will get jealous then tug you away, glaring at them angrily
That night he covers you with hickeys and makes sure everyone can hear you screaming and moaning his name all night
K = Kink (One or more of his kinks)
He loves the thought of you railing/pegging him into the mattress as he lets out broken moans and begs for you to fuck him stupid
L = Location (His favorite places to get intimate wit you)
He’ll do it anywhere as long as not too many people are around
His two main favorite spots are in the backseat of his truck or in your shared bedroom so no one bothers you two during the moment
M = Motivation (what gets him going)
Whenever you praise him or just gently rubbing his thigh while he’s watching the radar of a storm
N = NO (Something he'd never do, turn offs)
He’d never hit you or do anything to gross you out
He also hates the thought of accidentally hurting you when he gets too rough so he always tries to keep things under control
O = Oral (preference on giving and receiving, his skills)
He prefers to give a little more than he does receive
He knows how to work his tongue on you to have you screaming his name in seconds
He also encourages that you pull his hair while he gives you oral just so he has an even better excuse to moan whorishly into your sensitive area
If he’s on the receiving end then he’ll happily moan and struggle not to buck his hips into your mouth
P = Pace (is he fast and rough of is he slow and gently with you)
It all depends on both your moods that day
If you’ve both had a rough day then he’ll be sorta rough just to blow off some steam and making you arch your back from all the points he’s hitting inside you
If you’ve both had a good day then he’ll be fast but loving which leads to 2 rounds later when both of you are drunk on each other and making each other moan as loud as possible
Q = Quickie (his opinion on quickies)
He prefers to take his time with you but he’s not opposed to the idea of you’re both really pent up and needy
R = Risk (Does he take risks with you)
He prefers to not be interrupted by anyone so he mainly keeps things private w
S = Sex position (self-explanatory)
He secretly wants you to plow him into the mattress so hard that he can’t walk the next day
He loves the idea of you having complete control over him and wants to try BDSM with you just to have that experience
T = Top, switch, or bottom (self-explanatory)
He’s a switch 100%
Have you seen this man? He might look dominant but he’s an absolute sweetheart
He’s like a puppy who just wants to make you happy
U = Ummm... (I don't know what to put here so random headcanon time)
He will get rock hard almost instantly if you tug his hair and and seductively whisper into his ear, call him your pretty boy and he’ll let out a needy moan for you
V = Volume (How loud he is and what sounds he makes)
He’s quiet at first but once he really gets going then he’ll get louder and louder
He’s at his loudest when he’s overstimulated but no matter what his voice will be raspy afterwards
W = Wildcard (Random headcanon)
He doesn’t just have freckles on his face and shoulders
Kiss the freckles on his inner thighs and he’ll practically melt in your hands
X = X-Ray (what he's packing downstairs)
He’s double caked up on every day of the week
(I saw his absolute cake fest in the theaters for the second time yesterday and OH LORD I had so many horny thought go through my mind all at the same time)
As for his lovely ✨package✨ he’s average length but a bit more girthy than most and boy he sure knows how to use it
Y = Yearning (how high is his sex drive)
He has a fairly high sex drive but only when you get him going
He can’t help himself when it comes to you
Z = ZZZ (how quickly he falls asleep afterwards)
He waits until you’ve been cleaned up and have fallen asleep before he does if he was in charge for the night
If you were in charge for the night it depends on how hard you went on him
When you’re rough on him then he’ll be asleep in like 5 minutes after you clean him up and cuddle him for a bit but if you were gentle with him then he falls asleep as you’re cleaning him up

Twisters Masterlist
Tumblr media
The next morning the rain beats against the window and you rub the sleep from your eyes, noticing the lack of Kate right away. You sit up and go towards the window, a smile breaking across your face at Tyler grinning in his truck down at your rain soaked sister. “That’s my girl,” you praise quietly wrapping your arms around your waist.
A knock sounds at the door behind you and you softly tell them to come in, smiling when Javi comes up behind you and wraps his arms around your waist, his chin resting on your shoulder. “She’s gonna be okay,” he mumbles, pressing his cheek to yours.
“She’s gonna be just fine,” you agree, smiling as Tyler turns off the truck and runs after Kate into the barn.
“What do you think of me in that look?” Javi nods his head towards Tyler, “cowboy hat, boots, big belt buckle.”
You giggle, leaning back into his chest, “maybe for role play,” you feel his hand drift lower, “but you want the truth?” He leans closer and you bite softly on his ear, “I love you just the way you are.”
“Mamacita you’re killing me,” he groans, mumbling Spanish in your ear as he licks and bites your neck, leaving behind any trace he can manage.
You close your eyes, tilting your head to the side to give him more access he sucks on the skin of your neck, moaning when you tilt your head back and grind against him. He turns you around and his eyes are dark, licking his lips, he drops to his knees kissing along your stomach, pulling up the shirt.
“Just one little taste, baby please,” he begs.
You’re about to agree when his phone starts shrieking from his pocket. He groans, dropping his head against your belly and reaching for his phone, cursing when he sees who it is. “Scott,” he pressed the phone to his ear, “what is it?”
You run your fingers through his hair and he presses kisses to your skin, listening to Scott complain. “I got it,” he snaps, “listen, come get me and we will go.” He listens for a moment longer, “I said I’ll go, what more do you want from me?!”
Scott shouts and you cringe, Javi’s posture changing till he’s sitting up straight, clenching his fist. Words like pussy-whipped and losing it all over some girl coming clearly through the line.
Javi’s pissed, his voice low and angry, and you can’t help but be a little turned on listening to him defend you. “Listen, don’t ever talk about my woman that way again. You hear me? Now I’ll text you the address and you come get me and we’ll go.” Javi snaps the phone shut and tosses it on the bed. “What an asshole.”
“He really is,” you nod agreeing. He takes a moment to look at you and then grabs the phone texting the address. He waits for the chime and sighs, “he’s gonna be here in 45 minutes.”
“We should probably shower and get changed,” he stands nodding, both of you disappointed about the ruined opportunity for intimacy. Javi turns to leave when you say the words that have him frozen, “you wanna join me?”
He turns a smile breaking out across his face, “yes ma’am,”
A quick shower turned into ten minutes, Mama banging on the door about wasting the hot water. And you feel bad because honestly you feel dirtier than when you went in and the award for that goes to the smug looking man, struggling to contain his laugh.
“Shut up,” you hissed, covering his mouth, shouting, “sorry Mama! I’ll be right out.”
“Make me,” he kisses his way up your arm and tugs you into his arms, the towel sliding down, when the knock sounds again.
Mama uses your full name and you stand up, quickly covering yourself, “is Javi in there with you?!”
“Oh god,” you groan covering your eyes, “this is mortifying.”
“Oh my boy Javi is getting some,” Tyler shouts through the doorway.
“Tyler!” Kate shrieks, hitting him, “let’s go and give them some privacy. Javi, Scott’s here.”
“Okay, thanks Kate!” he shouts back and you yelp covering his mouth as he laughs tugging your hand down, “baby, relax the whole house already knows I’m in here.”
You both quickly get dressed and Javi gives mama a big hug before taking your hand and going out the front door. “Fucking finally,” Scott huffs, “we got to move. I’m tracking a large cell to the east.”
“I’ll be there in a minute, go get in the truck,” Javi instructs, Scott sighing loudly but doing what he’s told. “Such an asshole,” Javi chuckles wrapping his arms around you, “you sure I can’t convince you to switch sides?”
“I’m sorry Javi, but I’m a wrangler. And I can’t work for Storm Par, not while Riggs is still there.”
He nods, leaning down to give you a kiss, “I respect that. But I’m gonna remember you said not while Riggs is there. That gives me hope once he’s gone that you’ll join the team. We can even rebrand,” he holds his hands out like he’s reading a sign, “Rivera-Carter Storm Par.”
You cringe and he laughs, “okay we’ll work on the title.”
“I love you,” you fix his collar, pulling him down for a kiss that lingers a few moments, both of you breaking apart and glaring when Scott lays down the horn. “Asshole,” you stick your tongue out and he flips you off. Javi laughed before turning back to you, “be safe.”
He softens his smile, nodding, “I should be the one telling you that. You’re the one who drives into the path of tornados.
“Well that’s because we are professional,” you lift your finger twirling it in the air, “tornado wranglers.”
Javi pulls you closer, kissing you one last time, “be safe baby. I’m gonna make everything right. I promise you. I’ll see you soon. I love you.”
“I love you too, Javi,” you let him go with one last kiss and see him unlock the truck you and Kate made a mad dash away with as he pulls out and follows Scott. You stand there till the truck becomes a blip in the distance.
Tyler’s boot crunch under the gravel as he comes to stand beside you. “Are you coming with us?”
“Yeah,” you nod, watching the other half of your soul fade from view, “yeah I’m coming.”
Tumblr media
“We need a big trailer, light enough to tow with a truck but heavy enough to withstand over 100 mph winds,” Dani explains and you fall into step beside Boone.
“And what do you need this for?” The salesman lifts a brow staring at each of you.
“We’re taking it inside a tornado,” Dani shrugs and he nods flabbergasted for only a second.
“You’re gonna want alluminum.”
The team works quickly and efficiently, Ben recording each step as Dexter fills the solution into the rockets. No one except you and Tyler notice Kate walk off towards the field with her camera.
You follow her, coming to stand beside her. The silence settles over you and you lean over, putting your head on her shoulder, “you ready for this?”
She snaps a picture, “yes. I’m ready.”
“Then let’s do the damn thing,” you straighten up and give her a high five, tugging her into a hug, “I’m so happy you came home.”
“I am too,” she tightens her arms.
When you break you notice Ben fidgeting with his camera and Tyler smiling at you both. And you give his shoulder a pat as you pass climbing into the backseat.
“Showtime, ladies and gentlemen,” Tyler climbs into the driver's seat and reaches for the radio, “alright let’s move out.”
The tension in the cab builds as you approach the tornado steadily forming before you. Suddenly the truck swerves when a convoy of Storm Par trucks cut you off. Tyler slams on the gas and pulls up beside Javi and Scott.
Javi looks between you and the road snapping his head back and forth. Before stepping on the gas and gaining speed ahead of you. “I guess it’s back to being rivals,” Tyler mumbles from the front seat.
You keep your eyes on the truck ahead as long as you can but the road is all but gone with the amount of condensation and dirt hitting the windshield. “We lost Doppler,” Kate hits the screen frustrated and leans forward, “I can’t see it.”
Tyler slows down, “holy fuc-“ the tornado before you is like something out of a horror movie and Javi and Scott are driving right into it.
You quickly try to pull out of your straps unsure what to do when Tyler shouts your name from the front seat. “Stay right where you are darlin’. That’s an order.” He locks the doors and you sit forward looking between them as Javi’s truck starts to spin and flip on its side.
“Javi, oh my god!” Kate shouts but you’re silent watching in horror.
“It’s gonna hit something!” Dex shouts over the radio and you all turn to the left to see some type of plant beside you.
“Oh my god,” Tyler is left speechless as the tornado absorbs the fire, turning it into a raging twister.
He puts the truck in reverse and you spring to action, clinging hard to his shoulder. “No, we can’t leave him!!”
“I’m not leaving him, but we need to move!” He puts the truck in reverse as he gets on the radio, “get the hell out of here, head for the town!”
Suddenly a huge piece of sheet metal slams into the side of Javi’s truck and you can barely see through the tears streaming down your face. Kate quickly reaches a hand back and you hold on with all your might.
“That was one lucky hit,” Tyler shouts, “it righted them, they’re backing up!”
“Thank god,” Kate squeezes your hand.
“We need to move, now,” Tyler flips the truck and you let go of Kate's hand and turn as far as you can keeping your eyes on Javi. “We got to get to the town and help those people, this is bad.”
“Where is he-“ you watch as the Storm Par truck turns in the opposite direction. Two feelings strike you at the same time, one happiness that he’s safe and the other disappointment that he’d leave these people to their fate.
Tyler grabs the radio, looking at the rear view, the storm getting closer with each breath. “When we reach the town we need to get these people to the shelters, this storm is gonna wipe out everything in its path!” The others agree and he steps on the gas gunning it for the town of El Reno.
When he stops the truck the town is in chaos. Vehicles crashing as everyone makes a mad dash for the lone road that leads out of town. A trolley continues on its track as its passengers jump out the back and vendors attempt to save their goods from the winds threatening to steal them away.
“Leave it,” you grab a woman attempting to save her wind chimes. The sound haunting in the mix of the shrieking winds and screams of terrified people.
“Tyler!” Dex shouts, “the shelters are full, we need to get everybody into the movie theater!”
“Alright let’s move it,” Tyler, Kate and you attempt to herd the people into the theater, avoiding things trying to take you out.
“Kate!” You shout, pushing her out of the way of a canopy. Suddenly the trolley breaks off the tracks, turning on its side and heading straight for you. Tyler shoves you both and a piece of debris falls on his leg.
“Tyler,” Kate gasps dropping to her knees and attempting to get the debris off him. You do the same both of your straining to lift it off him. A loud creak has you looking back towards the water tower, the foundation crumbling.
“We need to hurry,” you urge, “the tower is gonna collapse.”
“Kate,” Tyler calls out for her, “Kate you need to leave me, you have to go.”
Kate ignores him, “no, no I’m not leaving you!”
“We need leverage!” You freeze whipping around to see Javi holding out a metal pole, “scoot over baby.”
You move and he pushes the pole under the pile, “alright, on the count of three. One, two, three!” You all lift and Tyler shimmy’s out, Kate instantly grabbing him and hauling him up to her side. “Run!” Javi shouts, grabbing your hand as the foundation crumbles and the water tower collapses.
“Fuck!” The water pushes your legs out from under you and Javi holds on firm, his hand bruising as the water crashes over you.
“Come on,” he shouts, pulling you to stand, “inside the theater, we need to go.” You take a step towards the theater and scream, looking down has you seeing green.
“Javi,” you whimper, his eyes wild when he looks down and sees your leg. “Oh fuck,” he looks around “help!”
Tyler shrugs off Kate, limping towards you and helping take some of the weight off. The blood oozes down your leg and leaves a trail behind you.
They lower you into one of the theater seats and take off searching for a basement. And when Kate returns you know the outcome, you’re absolutely fucked.
Tyler and Javi argue over what to do, neither of them notice Kate sneaking away, but you do. Steeling yourself you rise from the seat and follow her, trying your best to keep silent over the agony. The doors are swinging open and you move through, seeing Kate run towards the truck. You take a deep breath and scream, running across the asphalt after her, dodging debris until you’ve reached the passenger seat.
“What are you doing?!” Kate shouts at you when you pull down the restraints and try to catch your breath.
“What does it fucking look like I’m doing?! Going for a joy ride?! Now drive!” She doesn’t bother to argue and the truck jumps as you head into the eye of the storm.
Two silos sit on either side of the field and flames lick overhead as Kate parks and digs the drill into the dirt. Quickly you flick the rockets to set into the air and she flicks the safety for the barrels.
The air charged and the cab silent. “We’re probably gonna die,” she whispers, looking towards you.
“There’s nowhere else I’d rather be,” you tell her, feeling the tear slide down your cheek. She holds out a hand and you take it. “I love you Kate.”
“I love you too,” she gasps as the storm overtakes us. She presses the button and you let out a breath, both of you turning to see the barrels still full behind you. “Shit!” She presses repeatedly on the button, panic overtaking as the truck begins to slowly slide backward.
You press with her, both of you gasping when the barrels unlatch and the mixture floats up into the storm. “We did it,” you watch with awe as the sun begins to stream through a break in the cloud. But it’s not enough, the truck moves back and you feel the moment it unlatches from the ground.
“Kate!” you scream, grabbing hold of the shoulder straps and watching the world spin like you’re inside a dryer.
It seems to go on for a eternity, but then it suddenly stops. Everything hurts you’re upside down and when you turn your head to see Kate, her eyes are wide open, but she’s breathing.
“Are you OK?“ she asks, reaching across the consul for my hand.
“Yeah, I’m okay. That just really hurt.”
“Yeah,” she nods, “we need to get out of here.” She unlatches the belt and drops down with a groan. “Fuck, that hurt.”
“Yeah,” you grunt, “I’m not looking forward to that part.” Kate grimaces before she reaches forward and hovers her hand over the latch, “just do it.”
She pops the lock and you drop, cursing up a storm when your head hits the dash. “You’ve probably got a concussion,” she mumbles making you laugh.
“We just drove through a tornado, that tossed us around like a dog with his bone. I think we both have concussions.”
She chuckles, “you’re probably right. Can you move?”
“I’m gonna need you to drag me.” Kate nods, dragging herself out of the truck and panting when she finally makes it outside. She’s just reaching a hand out for you when you hear them.
“KATE!”
“Y/N! Oh my god,” Javi slows seeing you inside and breathing before he breaks down sobbing. “Baby, you okay?”
“No,” you cry, “Javi, get me out of here.”
“We got you,” Boone and Javi crawl through the space and drag you. Javi visibly flinches as you scream in pain. The second you’re out he’s gathered you in his arms and holding you as gently as he can like you’re made of glass.
“Ty,” Kate reaches a hand out to touch his face, “I think we should go line dancing.”
He laughs through his tears looking at her like she hangs the sun, “Okay, city girl, I’ll take you line dancing.
“But first we all need a hospital,” Javi stands and walks over to the sirens, the paramedics reaching for you the second the door is open.
“We got her sir,” he hesitantly puts you down on the table and steps back, only far enough to let them work and keeping an eye on you the whole time. “We’re gonna transport,” they pack up and Javi climbs in the back holding your hand. “This one too,” another paramedic comes over, with Kate and Tyler. The four of you ride in the hospital in silence, lucky to be alive.

plssss giving javi a blowjob PLEASEEEE
MDNI, Badly written like usual, swallowing cum (Fight me it’s better) GN! Reader
He is loud, he is messy, and he is desperate.
You crouch down underneath him in the driver seat of the lion, The steering wheel raised and his seat pushed as far back as possible to give you space as you flatten your tongue to lick a teasing strip up the under side of his dick, t him let out a shuttering breath as you press a wet kiss to his tip, “oh~” he lets out as a hand comes to grasp the console of the truck, the other on your shoulder, “C’mon baby- please don’t tease-“ he begged, his body tensing as he only barely bucked his hips, Watching as his dick twitches, just barely hitting the side of your face, making you giggle as you run your tongue along the side of his length again, making him let out a whine as his grip on your shoulder tightened, getting desperate. “Cmon.” He let out through gritted teeth, looking down at you as you teased, looking up at him through your eyelashes as you planted ghosted kisses over him again. Testing his patience, his hand on your shoulder came up and grasped your hair, “C’mon mi amour don’t do this,” he let out as he tugged your hair making you look at him, you smiled before opening your mouth, Pressing your flat tongue against him before taking his tip into your mouth and hollowing your cheeks around him, “Ah-hah~ fuck!” He whimpered as you pressed your tongue along his tip, slowly taking him down your throat , careful not to gag as you felt precum begin to coat your throat as you slowly followed his hand tugging and pushing your hair, eyes closed and rolled back as you rub your thighs together as you ran your tongue along him, careful not to scrape your teeth or suck to hard as you moved. “F-fuck yes-“ Javi let out through his whimpers and moans, His harsh breathing alone fogging the windows already. You carefully wrapped your palm around the base of his cock, Focusing your tongue around his tip as you slowly pumped him, making him tense up and curl over, a guttural sound breaking from his throat as his grasp on your hair tightened. Causing you to softly laugh around him, sending vibrations through him, “oh fuck don’t do that- fuck-“ he whined as you wrapped your tongue around him, feeling him twitch and tense up, “don’t stop- please please please don’t stop-“ he begged as he bucked your hips into your mouth, the whines that slowly turned into desperate means and borderlines screams told you all you needed to know as you removed your hand, taking all of him into your mouth, he let out a loud gasp, “fuck- Cumming- babe stop im gonna- Babe- ngh~” he loud out another loud sound deep from his throat before his orgasm washed over him, his whole body tensing, trying to pull away from your mouth as you kept teasing him before pulling off, “babe how are you gonna-“ you looked up at him with a challenging look before swallowing, Making his eyes widen and jaw fall ajar, he wasted no time to pull you up from underneath him and sit you on his lap. “That, was dangerous-“ he said with a chuckle as he pulled you into a kiss.

-------------
Always Been you: Javier (TWISTERS) x Reader
Including: Swearing, angst, fluff, broken Spanish.
Not including: smut, the use of y/n.
Tumblr media
---------
(First Person: You)
Javi and I are inseparable. Well. Were. Ever since Addy, Praveen, and Jeb died that day, things changed. He enlisted into the army for a few years, and I moved back to Kansas alone. Javi called a few times before I moved, but we hadn't talked all that much. Eventually, he left the army, and moved back to Oklahoma.
Sooner than later, I got a call from him. Enthusiastic, I clicked 'accept' and held my phone to my ear. "Javi!" I enthusiastically exclaim. "Hey, sunshine. I have a question for you." It sounded like he was sorting papers. I myself was making dinner. Microwave dinner.
"Shoot 'em out," I replied, pressing the four on the microwave. "Alright. While I was in the army, they came up with these scanners, we shortened the name to PAR. Anyways, we used them to scan for missiles, and I was wondering if..."
"We used it to scan a storm?" I finished.
"A tornado," Javi corrected. "But these things were huge, so my team and I made these portable units that do the exact same thing. They could help people! But, we haven't been able to track a good enough storm down to do it. So, what do you say? Wanna go storm chasin'?"
--------
After a long while of convincing, he got me to meet him at this gas station in Oklahoma.
I got there, and decided to go in because it was at least a 5 hour drive, and I had only stopped once to go to the bathroom.
I went into the bathroom and washed my hands up before returning to the store part of the station. I looked at the snacks and decided on getting some of my favorite candies and drinks.
Suddenly, I heard a voice behind me. "Hey there, sunshine." I turn around and am face to face with the one and only Javier Rivera. My arms immediately went around him, and he returned the gesture, running a hand through my hair like he always did. I took in a deep breath. He smelled the same. A hint of his Old Spice, and cinnamon. With just a hint of aftershave.
I looked up at him and oh my God, had he changed. His long curly hair was trimmed into a neat cut -but was still curly-, and he looked more...Professional? He was still attractive, if anything the new look made him even more.
"How've you been?" I managed to ask after pulling out of the hug.
"I've been pretty good. Left the army. Joined Storm PAR. Not too big of a change," Javi answered.
"Not big? Javi, you literally changed up in so many ways."
"But for the better, right?" He asked me. "Yeah," I managed to say after a few moments of silence.
He eventually leads me out to his truck with a decal on the back that says "Lion". Inside the passenger seat was none other than...
"Kate!" I exclaimed, running over to her door. She stepped out and gave me the biggest hug. "I've missed you so much!"
Kate smiled, replying, "I missed you too."
Javi, after we caught up, briefed me and Kate on what Storm PAR was and what was going to happen today. While he was explaining how to use the PAR systems, loud music began to play, and trucks and cars and RV's began to pull in.
"Who's that?" I asked, looking as people flooded out of their cars to the main red truck. "That right there," Scott began, pointing out the red truck. "That's Tyler Owens. Self-proclaimed 'Tornado Wrangler'. Hillbilly with a YouTube channel."
I scoffed lightly, watching the blonde climb out of the truck, handing t-shirts out. He was attractive, I'll admit. But he'd never be as attractive as Javi.
I felt Javi's eyes burning holes through the side of my head, so I turned to look at him. "We ready to roll?" I asked.
------------
That chase didn't turn out as expected. Tyler Owens had decided to follow us and ruin the plans, while Kate freaked out, and we abandoned the chase all together. We ended up staying at a hotel -which Tyler and his gang stayed at as well!- Javi, Kate, and I all shared a room.
I sat on the roof of the Storm PAR truck, thinking, before Tyler came over. "So, your friend from New York," He started. "She really from there?"
I snap out of my thoughts, turning to look at Tyler. He's being genuine. "No. She's from Oklahoma," I replied, crossing my arms. "Doesn't surprise me. She doesn't seem like the City Girl type," Tyler replied, taking a sip of his Corona beer.
"Nope."
Silence lingered between us.
"You from the city?"
"Me?"
"Yeah."
"No, I'm actually from Kansas."
"How'd you and City Girl meet?"
"Through college. Majoring in the same thing. I dropped out two weeks before graduation, though."
"Why?"
"It's a long story. I--"
The conversation ceased when Javi came over. "Hey, I need to talk to you." He glanced at Tyler. "Alone."
I get off the roof of the truck and bid farewell to Tyler. Following Javi, I wonder why he wanted to talk to me.
We got into the hotel room, and I sat down on the futon, while he sat on the couch. "So, you and Tyler?" He asked.
"What about him?" I replied.
"You like 'im?" He glared at me from the couch.
"No. Javi, that's ridiculous." I tried to plead.
"I know you do, sunshine. I'm not stupid."
"I don't, Javi! Why, are you jealous?"
That struck a nerve.
"No! It just means I don't have a chance!"
I look at him, confused. "A chance at what?"
"A chance at being with you."
Silence followed that comment.
"God, I've liked you for so long and it's stupid I haven't said anything. And now that Owens-"
"Javi, I don't like Owens. I like you. I always have."
Javi looked at me instead of his twitching thumbs. "Really?" He asked. "Yeah. It's always been you," I replied.
He got up from his seat and sat next to me. He tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear, and pressed his lips to mine. They tasted like salt from the French fries he had earlier. My hand snaked to his hair, before he pulled back.
"Sorry if that was too straightforward, I--"
I pulled him back in for a kiss, shutting him up.
And that's how the rest of the night went.

Letting out a deep sigh, you covered your arm over your eyes. You were lying on your couch, the TV was playing some TV show, but you weren't paying attention. It was the end of the Tornado Season, and to say the least, you were bored out of your mind, and somewhat disappointed... And sad? Probably.
Chasing tornadoes was your life. The thrill, the anticipation, the adrenaline. It was what fueled you. Without it, you didn’t really know what to do. And you were so not looking forward to getting back to your job, even if it was a stay-at-home one. You wanted to get out there and do something.
Hearing the front door open and shut, you stayed put. Feeling as if you were unable to move. That strange numbness settled over you, a frown upon your face. Feeling the couch cushions dip, you felt a presence above you, hovering; you didn’t have to open your eyes to know who it was. And with a soft kiss placed on your cheek, that stubborn frown quickly melted away, replaced with a smile. The butterflies in your stomach made themselves known.
Moving your arm away, and opening your eyes, they met his brown ones. Hands propped up beside your head, he gazed down at you with a warm smile; above you was the man you fell in love with. He could’ve been an angel, you were sure of it.
Javi Rivera. You met him a year and a few months prior. He had been a part of Storm Par, and you were a part of Tyler's 'Tornado Wranglers.' You remembered the day you first saw him extremely well. Standing in his neatly pressed dress shirt, nice pants, black curly hair slicked back. To say you were entranced would be an understatement.
Tyler and the crew had warned you about Storm Par when you joined, telling you about what they did to those who had lost so much after dangerous tornadoes. It pissed you off, hearing that news, to say the least. But when you pulled up to the gas station - 'Ain't No Love In Oklahoma' playing loudly from Tyler's truck speakers - seeing Javi standing with his crew... Well, you couldn’t help but think about how cute he was.
You were sitting in the back seat, your arms pressed against the open window's ledge, resting your cheek in your hand. Not really using the seat’s buckle, but you trusted Tyler enough. Dangerous, yes. But, upon driving by, it was like time had slowed down for you. Everything was in slo-mo, like in one of those somewhat cringey rom-com movies. Your eyes flickered from one Storm Par member to the next, ignoring their glares and irritated glances - especially as Boone teased them - you saw a young woman with them all, before your eyes landed on Javi.
Again, you were entranced. For lack of a better word. Once your eyes met his, you felt all the breath you had in your lungs leave you, butterflies replacing whatever you had in your stomach with their rapid fluttering. It was like something clicked within you. That day, you had hoped that no one had noticed how much he affected you. But, it wasn't like you were really hiding it either.
"You're staring again," You heard a voice, making you snap your head away from where the Storm Par crew were huddled together. Furiously blinking your eyes, you cleared your throat, looking up to see Lily beside you.
Lily had been the first to really bond with you. Everyone from the 'Tornado Wranglers' was your friend, but you really thought Lily was the one you felt most connected with. She always offered you snacks and gave amazing advice whenever you needed it. She understood you, and you understood her. You considered her your best friend.
"Hmm?" You hummed, pretending as if you didn't know what she was talking about. "Staring?" You laughed out, as if it was ridiculous.
Lily gave you a look, raising an eyebrow, "You were staring at Storm Par over there." She gestured to the group with her eyes, a slow smirk growing on her lips, "You like one of them or something?"
"What? No!" You laughed, feeling your cheeks become flush as you gleaned to the ground and back up at your friend. "I'm just looking at them, trying to read their lips. See what they're planning."
"Uh-huh, sure," She nodded her head slowly, totally believing you, "You've been staring at them for a while. Did you find out anything?" She tested you, making you huff.
"Fine," You muttered, accepting defeat, "I wasn't gathering intel." You confessed, making Lily hum, amused. She knew. “I must have zoned out, looking in that… Uh, general direction.” You waved your hand dismissively in the air in their direction.
Crossing her arms, Lily pivoted her weight to one side, "Is it Mr. Clipboard?" She suddenly asked, making you scrunch up your face.
"No! Ew. Not that one-"
"Oh! So you do like one of them!" She grinned, making you huff and roll your eyes. "I knew it!"
"Shush, would you!" You whispered, placing your hand on her arm, becoming a bit panicked. "I don't want him overhearing. I don’t want anyone overhearing. Besides, I don't know why it's such a big deal. I'm not the only one who's been staring at someone over there.” You nodded your head over in Tyler's direction before Lily took your hand into her fingerless gloved one.
Pulling you around the camper van, away from Storm Par, and the rest of your friends - and anyone else that could possibly hear - Lily smiled up at you with such excitement, practically bouncing on the balls of her feet. "So..." She trailed off, "Which one is it? Who's captured your heart?"
Huffing once more, you felt your cheeks burn at her playful teasing. You knew that she meant well, and you trusted Lily, you did with your words and life. She was an amazing person, a very sweet person, she would keep a secret. So you told her. You described him to her, and Lily could see how much you really liked this guy, even from just one glance. You had to cut yourself off at some point, realizing that you were talking way too much about a guy you've only just seen, and never spoken to. You didn't even know his name… ‘Love at first sight.’ Lily had thought with a grin. She then wasted no time in peeking out from behind the camper to spot him in the Storm Par group.
Well, you finally got to speak with him during the second night. All the tornado chasers were in the large dirt parking lot of a motel, bonfires aflame, music playing, people eating, drinking, and having fun.
You had arrived back at the motel with dinner - pizza - for the crew, and when you weren't really paying attention, you had bumped right into him; he almost dropped his bag of hot Cheetos. And it wasn't on purpose, you swore to Lily, your attention was on the nine pizza boxes in your arms; trying to remember whose box was whose.
Well, to make a long story short, you apologized, and he apologized, it was awkward and you offered him one of the extra boxes of pizza. From then on, your interactions were few and far between. Until after the EF5 and after he partnered up with Tyler and Kate. Since then, you and Javi had gotten closer and became friends, which then slowly turned into something more.
It had been a year since the two of you had officially begun dating, and you couldn't have been happier. He was everything you ever dreamed of and more; you loved everything about him... His passion, humor, bravery, his determination, his kindness... Not to mention he was super handsome, you could get lost in those eyes of his, your fingers tangled in his soft, ebony curls… Everything about him was perfect. Every time you woke up next to him, you couldn't help but fall deeper and deeper in love with him.
"Hey, baby," He muttered, leaning down to press a soft, lingering kiss to your lips, "How was your day?" He then asked, lifting back up slightly as your hand raised to brush his curls out of his face.
"Hi," You greeted, your fingers began to trail along his jaw, eyes flickering around the freckles on his face before meeting his eyes once more. "I missed you." You breathed, the pad of your thumb brushing along his cheek.
"I missed you more," He leaned down once more to press yet another kiss upon your lips, before rising again, his smile grew into more of a grin, "But, you're avoiding my question."
Sighing, you glanced away from him briefly before returning your eyes to his, "I don't know, Javi," You began, "You know how much I love chasing. I just feel so... Empty without it."
Humming thoughtfully, Javi pushed himself up, and off the couch. Taking your hand, he pulled you up into a sitting position. Your hand remaining in his, he bent forward slightly, raising your hand to press a kiss to your knuckles; keeping the intense eye contact - the action causing your cheeks to flush. "I know how much you love chasing,” He began, "But I might have something that can cheer you up."
"Javi..," You trailed off, "You don’t have to get me anything."
His black curls bounced slightly as he shook his head, "Nah, baby, I saw it and thought you had to have it."
"You're not proposing, right?" You asked slowly, with a raised eyebrow, grinning; though inside, the mere thought of Javi proposing made your heart race, and your skin to tingle. You would love nothing more than to marry Javi someday, but you and Javi wanted to take things slow; to make the most of each second.
He bit his lip, his own cheeks flushing slightly from your question, "No, I'm not proposing, yet." He answered. ‘Yet’, the way he said it, made your chest warm, and your gaze to soften. “You actually might like this better than a ring.” He spoke, before letting go of your hand and leaving the room.
You sat on the couch, your leg shaking with anticipation and excitement. Your mind racing with possible gift ideas. So many ‘maybes’ and ‘what-ifs.’ You bit your lip, your eyes trained on the entrance to the living room, waiting for his return at any moment. Your smile widened at the sight of Javi walking in with a small cardboard box. It was an Amazon box, but it was open; the cardboard box flaps bent open at a slight angle. Carefully, he placed it down on your lap, and sat beside you.
Looking over at him, you placed your hands on the sides of the box. “You really didn't have to get me anything,” You repeated, “You've already given me so many wonderful things. Not that I don't appreciate the thought you put into things or anything. I love everything you've given me-”
“Baby,” He reached out, placing his hand on your cheek, calming your rant. “Let me spoil you.”
Huffing, you felt yourself smile, admiring him for a moment - thinking about how lucky you were - before you returned your attention to the box. Reaching out, you pulled back the cardboard flaps, peering inside only to gasp. There, looking around confused, was a small kitten.
Snapping your gaze up to your boyfriend, your mouth slightly agape, he chuckled lightly at your reaction. “Javi, are you serious?” You looked back down at the kitten, not even waiting for his answer as you reached into the box and pulled out the kitten.
The small kitten let out a small ‘meow’ and yawn that made your heart melt and tears welled up in your eyes from the sheer cuteness that you held in your hands. Bringing the kitten up close to your face, you could’ve died from pure happiness as the kitten nuzzled their face into yours.
The kitten was a tabby, with multiple shades of brown. She looked up at you, sharing with you with big, green eyes. You sighed deeply, your bottom lip quivering as you sniffled as Javi took the box from your lap as you held your new kitten in your arms.
‘She’s just too cute.’
Javi watched you, feeling an overwhelming amount of love and adoration for you, as you ran your fingers through the kitten’s fur. She purred against your fingertips, her little paws pawing at you; tiny toe-beans in show. You cooed at her softly, pressing a gentle kiss on top of her head. “I think she needs a name.” He stated, his voice warm with affection.
Without even looking up, and without a second to think, you answered, "Storm Chaser. Stormy for short." You looked up at Javi, before feeling your smile turn into a somewhat worried frown. "Or is that a bit too on the nose?"
"It's perfect," He reassured you, "Especially for someone who loves chasing so much."
"Thank you," You smiled again, before leaning over and kissing his cheek. "Thank you so much. This was exactly what I needed. Someone to take care of and keep me company." Returning to pay your full attention to your new fur baby, who was playing with a stray strand of string from your sweater, "She won't replace you though, don't worry. You’re stuck with me."
He couldn’t help the chuckle that left him at your words, “And you're stuck with me.” He muttered, his arm wrapping around you, pulling you close to his side as he watched you play with the kitten; named Storm Chaser. He let himself get lost in the moment and just enjoyed the fact that you were happy - truly and genuinely. He knew that you had been feeling rather bored, and lonely, and missed going out and chasing tornados.
He didn't know what to get you at first, but after asking Lily, Tyler, Boone, and the others, he figured it out. He didn't want to wait for a holiday or anniversary to get you a furry friend, so his trip to the pet store was a bit spontaneous. The moment he walked into the pet store and saw that little kitten sleeping in her cage, he knew that you'd love her. Running his fingers through your hair, he pressed a kiss to your temple, seeing the smile on your face… He couldn't have been happier.

Can you write something with Javi and Tyler with reader? Maybe like a 3some if you write those. I don't have a plot but I love how your writing them huge fan of yours!
A/n: Hi! Thank you for the request (and ofc your compliment) 😣🙏 I just don’t write threesomes so this is like a “choose your own adventure” type thing if that makes any sense at all. I really don’t know what I'm doing. I just thought this would be an interesting way to work this request while staying in my comfort zone.
Pairing: Tyler Owens x fem! reader x Javi Rivera
Warnings: 🚫 NOT A THREESOME 🚫 and a little bit of awkward fighting
Tumblr media
You and Tyler Owens are the top tornado chasers in the country, each with a reputation that precedes them. You’re known for your methodical, data-driven approach, while Tyler is famous for his daring, instinctual chases. Your rivalry is legendary—every storm season, you find yourselves competing to capture the most intense footage and data, often ending up in the same storm, glaring at each other from across the swirling chaos.
Despite your professional rivalry, there’s an undeniable spark between you. Your banter is sharp and filled with double meanings, your competition fueled as much by mutual respect as it is by the desire to outdo each other. Friends and fellow chasers joke that the tension between the pair of you could power a storm all on its own.
Your team pulls into the motel that Tyler and his team are also staying at. You hop out of the passenger seat stretching as you leave the truck. Tyler, leaning against the side of his truck, notices you stretching from across the parking lot. His eyes roam over your form with more than a hint of appreciation, before he pushes himself off the vehicle and saunters over to you.
"Look who it is," he drawls, his voice laced with a familiar smirk. "You just can't stay away, can you?" Crossing your arms over your chest you give him a playful glare.
“And how am I supposed to stay away when this is the only motel in the area?” You walk past him brushing his arm with your shoulder. Tyler falls into step beside you as you make your way towards the motel entrance. He glances down at the spot where your shoulder brushed against his arm, his gaze a little darker than usual.
"Oh, so you're just here for convenience, huh?" He teases, his smirk never leaving his face. "Here I was thinking you just couldn't resist the opportunity to see me again."
”What would make you think that cowboy?” Your lips curve into a smile as you turn on your heel, looking up at him sweetly. Tyler chuckles, his arms crossing over his chest as he grins down at you. His eyes roam over your face, slowly taking in every feature.
"You know I could list countless reasons, darlin'," he drawls, his voice dripping with a southern twang. "But they'd all just boil down to one simple truth – you can't resist my charm."
”Charm?” You giggle, “I wouldn’t call you charming.” You turn once again, getting the key to your room from the front desk.
”No? Then what would you call me?” Tyler's smirk only grows wider as you turn away, his gaze locked on you as you retrieve the keys. He follows you to your room, his broad shoulders filling the hallway, making it feel far more crowded than it truly was.
"Coz let me tell you, sweetheart" he murmurs, stepping so close that his chest is nearly pressed against your back "Charm seems like the right word to me." Unlocking your door you swing it open, standing in the doorway.
”I’m thinking something more along the lines of arrogant,” your voice laced with amusement. “Yes, arrogance is the perfect way to describe you,” your playful smile widens.
Tyler laughs, his hand braced against the door frame as he leans into the door to loom over you. “Arrogant, huh?” He echoes, raising an eyebrow. “I like to think of it as confidence. I know what I’m about.”
He reaches out, his fingers trailing a path down your arm, leaving a trail of heat in their wake. “Besides, darlin’, you've never had a problem with my arrogance before. Seems more like you're trying to rile me up...”
You look up at him, your eyes landing on his lips. “Why would I want that?” You put a hand on his chest. Leaning toward him you stand on your tippy toes, “What would I get out of trying to rile you up, cowboy?” You murmur against his ear.
A shiver runs down Tyler's spine as your breath fans over his skin. His heart rate increases, his broad chest rising and falling rapidly. He swallows hard, trying to maintain his cool facade, but the heat in his eyes gives him away.
"I can think of a few things, sweetheart," he murmurs, his voice thick with barely concealed lust. He grips your hip, pulling you closer, his fingers digging into your flesh.
“Yeah?” You run a finger over his jaw, “So are you gonna keep playing games or will you come inside and do something about it?” Your eyes darkened by desire as you look up at him. Tyler's self-control snaps with your words.
With a low growl, he pushes you back into the room, closing the door behind him with a slam. He pins you against the door, trapping you between the hard wood and his hard body.
He towers over you, his hands planted on either side of your head, caging you in. His gaze rakes over you, his eyes dark with a mix of desire and barely suppressed need.
"You're playing a dangerous game here, darlin'," he warns, his voice rough. "But I never back down from a challenge." Your arms wrap around his arms pulling his face close to yours you hover your lips over his.
”Are you sure about that, Owens?” Tyler's eyes lock onto your lips, his breath hitching at the closeness.
"Absolutely sure," he murmurs, his breath fanning over your skin. "And don't call me 'Owens' in that voice. It drives me crazy, damn it." he murmurs before crashing his lips against yours.
The kiss is fierce and possessive, his tongue demanding entrance as his hands snake around your waist, pulling you impossibly closer. Your arms pull him closer as you let his tongue in your mouth.
He breaks the kiss to gasp for breath, his forehead resting against yours. "You really enjoy pushing me, don't you?" He pants, his chest heaving.
”Of course I do, Owens.” You smirk, he growls lowly, his eyes narrowing at the use of his last name.
"You're walking a thin line, sweetheart." he warns as his hands slide lower down your waist, his fingers gripping your hips almost to the point of pain. "Keep it up and I'll have to put you in your place." His lips brush against your ear, his warm breath sending shivers down your spine.
”Is that so?” You push his chest away from you, moving past him and hopping onto the bed. “I’d like to see you try,” your smirk grows as you slip your shirt off, tossing it to the side of the room.
Tyler's eyes widen at the sight, drinking in every bit of flesh revealed with hungry eyes. His jaw clenches as his fists clench, resisting the primal urge to pounce on you right then and there.
With a low, frustrated groan, he takes a step forward. "You just can't help yourself, can you?" he mutters, his gaze glued to your body.
He stops at the edge of the bed, his eyes roaming over your form, his breathing ragged. "You're playing with fire, sweetheart. I hope you're prepared for the burn." You pull him to you by the loops of his jeans, your hands sliding up his shirt.
Tyler lets you pull him closer, a low groan escaping his lips as your hands make contact with his skin. The touch of your fingers against his bare flesh sends shivers down his spine.
"You're going to be the death of me," he gasps out, his chest rising and falling rapidly as he tries to maintain control.
But the sight of you, half-naked in front of him, threatens to break his restraint. Lifting up the fabric of his worn shirt, you motion for him to pull it off as your lips trail kisses over his abs.
Tyler obeys your order without hesitation, quickly pulling the shirt over his head and tossing it aside. He looks down at you as you kiss his abs, his breathing becoming more ragged with each touch of your lips against his skin.
His hands tangle in your hair, holding your head against his stomach, silently encouraging you to continue. A loud knock interrupts you, “Hey Y/N are you in there?” Javi’s voice rings through the air.
“Yeah, just a moment,” you respond, shoving Tyler toward the closet. “Hide, don’t make a sound.” You warn, your voice a quiet demand. Tyler's eyes widen in surprise, but he obeys your command without question. He slips into the closet and shuts the door softly behind him, just enough for him to peek out.
He watches you through the crack in the closet door as you respond to your friend, a mix of annoyance and amusement playing across his face. You open the door completely forgetting about your missing shirt.
Javi glances towards the closet, only to see... nothing, his eyes widen slightly as he grins, "Aha! You got a man over don't you." He chuckles, leaning against the doorway.
He gives you a nod, "He's in there right?" Javi continues, his tone turning to a more questioning one. He eyes the door that was in front of the closet before turning his head towards you. His face now is a mix of both confusion and amusement.
”No,” you laugh stiffly blocking him from moving toward the closet door. Javi takes one last glance at the door before turning his attention back to you, giving you a teasing smile.
"Alright, alright, I believe you." His eyes dart back to your exposed chest for a brief moment. You cross your arms over your chest as he takes a step toward you.
Javi notices you become a bit more defensive, a smile plays on his lips, "What's the matter? Aren't we good friends?" He leans in, kicking the door shut, his tone turning seductive as he eyes you with a small smirk on his lips.
”We are,” you draw out as he steps closer to you.
Javi continues to step closer to you, his smirk becoming more apparent the closer he gets, “Then what’s wrong?” He begins to lean down slightly, almost as if he’s planning to steal a kiss from you.
A flush creeps up your neck as Javi brushes a stray hair out of your eyes. Javi leans in, his smile still prominent as his hands reach around your waist, his lips gently pressing against yours, but only for a split second. His eyes gaze back into yours before he pulls away.
Your eyes widen as he pulls away, your breath hitching as you hear Tyler clear his throat, stepping out of the closet. He steps into the room and makes eye contact with Javi, raising an eyebrow as he eyes you both.
“What the hell are you doing, Javi?” Tyler's voice is filled with rage as he balls his fist.
Javi raises an eyebrow, a grin appearing on his lips, "What? Is my girl not allowed to get kisses from me?" Javi crosses his arms, looking from you to Tyler as if he's daring him to continue.
"Your girl?" Tyler crosses the room, getting right up to Javi as he looks him in the eyes, "Since when did you own my girl?" You step between the two of them.
“Okay boys, let's be civil,” you glance between them sighing as you try to think of what to do next.
"Civil?" Tyler’s face scowls as he looks back at you, "He kisses you and you're asking for civil?" His eyes look at you intently as he puts his fists on his waist.
Javi crosses his arms, glaring at Tyler. "Alright, listen," he holds up a finger, "One, she's not yours, get that in your head," his eyes now only focus on Tyler, his brows furrowed, "Two, you're lucky it was just a kiss and not something a lot more"
Tyler's now right next to you, looking at Javi with a look of pure anger in his eyes, "You have some nerve," he continues to clench his fist as his temper rises, "Thinking you can kiss my girl then threaten me, you’re lucky I don't beat your ass."
Javi grins, a hint of madness in his eyes. He looks Tyler in the eyes, "What are you gonna do about it?" His eyebrows furrow, "Cause I sure as hell have no problem taking a swing at you."
”Boys, seriously stop it,” you say sternly, narrowing your eyes at them.
a/n: this is like the choose your own adventure part of this idek, but this is the Javi version if you’re interested in his over Tylers idrk.
“Javi, just go okay?” You push Tyler away from Javi as you try to calm the situation. “We’ll talk in the morning. We can just talk in the morning.”
Javi gives a nod, looking from you to Tyler. He rolls his shoulders, "Fine," he walks towards the door before turning back to look at you, "We have a lot to talk about."
“I know,” you sigh as he leaves, slamming the door behind him. Tyler stands in silence for several long moments after Javi leaves, his chest heaving with anger and jealousy. He turns to you, his jaw clenched tight, his eyes burning with barely concealed possessiveness.
"What in the hell was that?" he growls, his voice dripping with venom. "He just barged in here, kissing you, and you just... let him?" Your hand goes to his arm as you look up at him.
“Ty, I didn’t know what to do, it was completely out of nowhere,” your eyes scan his face, your eyebrows furrowing as you try to read his expression. Tyler's jaw clenches tighter at your touch, his body rigid with tension. He takes a step closer to you, his eyes boring into yours.
"What do you mean you didn't know what to do? You should have pushed him away, told him to back off,” he grits out. “You’re supposed to be mine, damn it!" You flinch softly, taking a step away from him.
“Tyler.. I didn’t…” your voice trails off as you drop your hand from his arm. Tyler's heart clenches at the sight of your flinch, his hand immediately reaching out to grab your wrist, preventing you from backing away from him.
"Hey, hey," he says, his voice a little softer, "I just... I didn’t like seeing him paw all over you like that, especially since he had no right to." He steps closer, his free hand reaching out to gently lift your chin, forcing you to look at him.
”I know, I should’ve done something..” a sigh leaves your lips as you set your hand on his waist squeezing his bare skin softly.
Tyler's tension eases slightly at your touch, the feel of your fingers on his bare skin sending a shiver down his spine. He lets out a breath he didn't realize he was holding, his body relaxing a bit.
"You should've," he agrees, his voice still a little gruffer than normal. "But I understand... it was unexpected, I get it." He lets go of your wrist, his hand coming to rest on your hip, pulling you closer to him.
You press your cheek to his chest, wrapping your arms around him, hugging him tight. Tyler's arms wrap around you, holding you against him, his hands running up and down your back in slow, soothing motions.
He buries his face in your hair, inhaling deeply as he tries to calm himself down. "I just... I can't stand seeing him put his hands on you that way,” he murmurs, his voice muffled as he talks into your hair.
”Maybe you can talk some sense into him tomorrow,” you mumble against his skin, “but.. can we not let that ruin what we have going on?” Tyler's hands still on your back, his fingers pressing into your skin. He leans his head against yours, his breath fanning your ear.
“Yeah.. yeah, I’ll talk to him tomorrow, I’ll knock some sense into him, make sure he keeps his hands to himself from now on,” he mutters, his voice still holding a hint of anger.
But then his tone softens, and he pulls away slightly to look down at you, a small smirk tugging at his lips. "But you’re right, we shouldn’t let him ruin our night, right?"
“Mhm,” you press a kiss onto his shoulder moving your hands up his back, onto his shoulder blades. Tyler’s eyes flutter shut at your kiss, a soft hum escaping his lips as you press yourself against him. He lets his hands wander up your sides, his fingers brushing over your bare skin.
He shivers at your touch, his mind quickly turning from anger to desire. He turns his head to your ear, his breath hot against your skin as he speaks. “You’re so damn distracting…” he mutters, his hands gripping your hips just a little tighter.
”A good distraction,” you murmur in between kisses “I hope…” your hands slide down his back as you press your chest against his.
“A very good distraction,” he agrees, his voice low and gravelly. His hands slide lower down your hips, his fingers digging into the soft flesh of your thighs. He sucks in a breath as you press yourself against him, his body reacting instantly to the feel of your bare chest against his.
“You're making it real hard to think straight right now,” he groans, his eyes slowly raking over your body. You smirk and crouch leaving a trail of kisses down his body as you lower yourself onto your knees in front of him.
Tyler watches you with darkened eyes, a low groan escaping his lips as he watches your lips travel down his body. His hands reach out to tangle in your hair, his fingers gripping the strands tightly as he watches you move lower and lower.
“You’re playing a dangerous game, sweetheart,” he grits out, his voice strained, his body already reacting to what he knows is about to happen.
You look up at him through your lashes, a mischievous glint in your eyes. "I know exactly what I'm doing, Tyler," you murmur, your voice sultry and filled with promise. Your hands make quick work of his belt buckle, unbuttoning and unzipping his jeans. Tyler's breath hitches as you free him from his confines, his eyes never leaving yours.
You wrap your hand around him, stroking gently, watching as his pupils dilate with need. His fingers tighten in your hair, guiding you closer as you lean in, your lips parting to take him in your mouth.
His hips jerk at the contact, a groan escaping his lips as you begin to suck and lick with a practiced skill that leaves him trembling. His eyes fall shut, his head tilting back, as he gives in to the pleasure you're giving him.
You continue to suck him off with a fierce dedication, your mouth moving in a rhythm that leaves him gasping for air. Tyler's eyes fly open, locking onto yours, the intensity of your gaze sending a bolt of electricity through him.
His hips rock into your mouth, the pressure building as you swirl your tongue around the tip of his cock. His grip on your hair tightens, guiding you faster and deeper, his breathing growing erratic.
You can feel him swell in your mouth, his muscles tensing as he nears the edge. You don't relent, taking him as deep as you can, your other hand cupping his balls, gently massaging them as you suck.
His legs wobble, and a string of curses fall from his lips as he finally releases, the warmth of his cum filling your mouth. You swallow it all, not breaking eye contact as you slowly pull away, leaving him panting and thoroughly satisfied.
With a fiery hunger in his eyes, Tyler pulls you to your feet, his grip on your arms firm yet gentle. In one swift motion, he lifts you off the ground and tosses you onto the bed, the mattress bouncing beneath your weight.
His movements are swift and deliberate, fueled by the passion that's been building between you for what feels like an eternity. You giggle in surprise, your cheeks flushed with excitement as he crawls over you, his eyes never leaving yours.
He pins your wrists above your head, his strong thighs straddling your waist, and captures your mouth in a demanding kiss that leaves you gasping for air. His tongue tangles with yours, tasting the remnants of his own desire on your lips as his hips grind against yours, the friction sending waves of pleasure through both of you.
His kisses turn into nips and licks as he trails his way down your neck, his teeth grazing your skin, leaving a path of goosebumps in their wake. You arch into him, your body responding to his touch like it's been starved for it.
With a growl of pure need, Tyler releases your wrists, he takes in the sight of your heaving chest with a hunger that makes your pulse race. His thumbs hook into the fabric of your bra, pulling the material down to expose your nipples. He takes one into his mouth, suckling it hard as he plays with the other with his thumb and forefinger.
You moan, arching your back as pleasure spikes through you. He kisses a trail down your body, his mouth watering at the thought of feeling more of you. He reaches your jeans, his hands deftly unbuttoning and unzipping them before sliding them down your legs, along with your panties.
His eyes darken as he takes in the sight of your wetness, a testament to how much you want him. He lines himself up with your entrance, the anticipation almost too much to handle. With one powerful thrust, he enters you, filling you completely, eliciting a gasp from your lips.
His strokes are deep and rhythmic, hitting that spot that makes your eyes roll back in your head. Your legs wrap around his waist, urging him closer as you meet each thrust with equal fervor. The electricity in the air is palpable as you move together in a dance of passion and desire.
He fucks you with desperation and hunger, his hips pounding into yours, each thrust punctuating the unspoken words of need and longing that hang in the air between you. Your nails dig into his back as you try to keep up with the ferocity of his movements, your breaths coming in short, sharp gasps.
Your bodies are slick with sweat, sticking together as if trying to become one. Tyler’s eyes never leave yours, his gaze a mixture of fierce possession and blazing desire. He’s claiming you in this moment, marking you as his own in the most primal way possible, and you can’t help but feel the same need to claim him back.
The tension in the room is thick, the tumultuous passion unfolding on the bed. Each stroke feels like a declaration of war, a battle of wills, but one that you’re both eager to lose in the sweet surrender of climax.
As your bodies reach their peak together, Tyler's hips stutter to a stop, his cock pulsing deep within you. You tighten your legs around his waist, your muscles clenching around him, as you both let out a symphony of moans and gasps.
The tension breaks, and in the aftermath, Tyler collapses on top of you, his weight pressing you into the mattress. His breaths are hot and ragged against your neck, his chest heaving with exertion. Without breaking the intimate connection, he shifts slightly, his mouth finding your skin once more.
He sucks hard, leaving a dark hickey in the crook of your neck, a brand of his ownership that sends a shiver down your spine. You arch into his touch, the sting of his teeth mixing with the sweet ache of your release. His hands roam over your body, possessive and tender, as he marks you with more bruises of passion.
Finally, he pulls back, his eyes locking onto yours, the heat between you still smoldering. "Damn, darlin'," he whispers, his voice hoarse with need. "You're mine." Your heart swells at his words, the intensity of the moment etching itself into your soul. You stroke his cheek, smiling softly. "Always have been, Tyler." You murmur, your voice filled with a quiet satisfaction.
He grins, his eyes sparkling with mischief as he rolls off of you, pulling you into his arms. You both lay there, tangled in the sheets and each other, finally at peace in the eye of the tempest that is your rivalry and desire.

It’s a typical day. You’ve spent your day off work doing laundry and catching up on some shows you needed to watch. It isn’t until there’s a knock on your door that your day turns anything but ordinary. You pull it open to reveal your best friend, scratch that, former best friend, Javi. He’s decked out in his military uniform, the bright smile on his face becoming a deep frown when he sees your unimpressed expression. You turn around and walk away, leaving the door open for Javi to come in, much to your disliking. But if you know Javi, he wouldn’t leave without saying something first.
“I figured you’d be happier to see me,” Javi scratches the back of his neck as he follows you into your apartment.
“Happy to see you? Javi, you literally stopped talking to me and left for the military, of all things, without telling me,” you say, your voice rising in frustration.
“I know, and I’m sorry,” Javi says, stepping toward you, “I had to do what I thought was right at the time. Losing everyone was hard.”
“The right thing was to stay and figure things out,” you cross your arms, leaning against the island counter, “It’s what I did.”
“Figure things out? I don’t understand what you mean?” Javi says, taking a seat on one of the barstools.
You take a deep breath and figure, why not just tell him? You have nothing to lose anymore.
“I was in love with you, Javi. And then you left. I had to figure out life without you and all my now-dead friends. What else do you want me to say?”
Javi opens his mouth to say something but then changes his mind. A moment passes, and then he says, “I didn’t know.”
“I’m not sure how you didn’t. I would’ve followed you anywhere and done anything for you.”
Javi stands up from his seat and walks toward you, a gentle hand on your arm, “I would’ve done the same for you. I loved you, too, and I still do. That’s why I’m here. You’re the first person I wanted to see when I got home.”
Your face softens, “You don’t mean that.”
“I do. I mean it with everything in me,” Javi grabs you by the biceps, pulling you to face him, “I love you and always have.”
“Why didn’t you say something?” you ask softly, unable to look him in the eye.
“Why didn’t you?” Javi chuckles, trying to lighten the mood a little.
“I didn’t want to ruin our friendship, but it got ruined anyway, it seems.”
Javi sighs, “I’m sorry again. I didn’t know how to handle everything properly, and I should’ve talked to you about the whole situation before running off.”
“It’s okay,” you shrug, “You’re here now.”
“And I’m here to stay,” Javi promises, “If you’ll have me?”
“Of course, I’ll have you,” you say, placing your hands on Javi’s chest and finally looking him in the eyes.
He gazes into your eyes and leans in slowly to close the gap between the two of you. He slides a hand into your hair as the kiss deepens to press you closer to him. As the kiss becomes more passionate, Javi lifts you onto the counter and slots himself between your legs, not pulling away from your embrace once. His hands wander along your sides until they reach the hem of your shirt, where Javi tugs experimentally. You pull away from the heated makeout session to peel off your shirt and toss it somewhere on the kitchen floor. Javi takes a second to drink in your body for the first time. Even more so than usual, since you don’t wear bras at home.
Javi helps you remove the outer part of his uniform, where a plain t-shirt is underneath it. He pulls it over his head and discards it and his uniform jacket where your top lays. His body is in great shape thanks to all the exercise and physical labor he had to do while in the military. You let your hands explore his muscles as you lean in for another heated kiss. Javi slowly leans you backward onto the counter surface before hovering over you.
“Do you want this like I do?” he asks.
“God,” you nod, “More than anything.”
“Glad to hear it,” Javi smirks before moving his hands to the waistband of your sweatpants, “Is this okay?”
“Yes,” you reassure Javi, “You can do what you want, I’ve waited long enough,” you joke.
Javi laughs and slides the pants down your legs and past your ankles. He climbs on top of you after removing the rest of his uniform, holding himself up with one arm as he uses his free hand to grasp at your breast, attacking your mouth with his tongue. Your body feels like it’s on fire from Javi’s touch. You’ve dreamt about this more than you’d care to admit. Javi rolls a nipple between his fingers, bringing you back to earth from your thoughts, a moan getting lost inside Javi’s mouth on yours. He moves his hand down your stomach until he reaches your clothed heat, moving aside the garment covering you and testing how wet you are.
“So wet just from kissing?” Javi teases.
“Shut up,” you roll your eyes, bringing your knee to his chest to bump it playfully.
Javi moves to your ear as he dips a finger inside you, whispering, “Make me.”
You grasp his curls harshly, bringing him back to kiss you. Javi can’t help but laugh through his nose as you explore his mouth with your tongue, shutting him up successfully. He curls his finger, beckoning it against your sweet spot. You pull away from Javi’s mouth to let out a moan, jerking your hips up. Javi quickly sits up and grips your hip, stilling you as he adds another finger. You allow your hands to massage your breasts as Javi fucks you with his fingers, even adding a third as his thumb swipes your clit.
“You’re so fucking wet,” Javi groans.
“You make me this way, Javi,” you gasp as his fingertips circle the spot inside you, “See what you do to me?”
Javi withdraws his digits from you, sucking your arousal off them before pulling and kicking his underwear off, “I’m sure you can see what you do to me, too,” he says, his length slapping his stomach.
“Oh, I’m definitely seeing,” you bite your lip, hoping he can fit.
“Condom?” Javi returns to his hovering position, running his hands along your body before slipping your underwear down your legs.
“Don’t worry about that,” you pull his face down to yours, “I’m on the pill.”
Without another word, Javi lines himself up with your slick entrance before slowly pushing in. You wrap your legs around his waist so he can fill you up more easily. Javi is very vocal about how tight you feel around him, his moans guttural as his pelvis hits yours. Your cheek is pressed to his as you both catch your breath momentarily before continuing.
“You feel so good,” Javi pants, pulling out slightly before slamming back in, “Too good. I’m gonna have to go slow, or I’ll lose it.”
You snort, “Has it really been that long for you, Javi?”
“Sex isn’t allowed in the military, you know,” Javi scoffs, “So, yes, it’s been a while.”
“I don’t have a problem with it or anything. I’m just fucking with you,” you reassure him.
Javi moves again, this time pulling all the way out and jerking his hips forward in a quick fashion, “Doesn’t mean I still can’t make you scream.”
And his movement does just that- makes you scream out. You grasp Javi’s upper arms as he gains a rhythm. Your fingernails dig into his flesh as he pounds into you, your moans growing louder. You don’t care about your neighbors at this point. Javi holds himself up, gaining leverage and a better angle. He pulls your legs onto his shoulders, his cock driving into you perfectly.
“Jesus, Javi,” you gasp, unable to hold onto anything other than the edges of the counter, “Just like that.”
Javi is now kneeling on the counter, your heels digging into his back as he folds you in half and grips your thighs hard enough to bruise. His thrusts become faster and harder as the two of you stare into each other’s eyes, panting and moaning.
“So good,” Javi mutters, “So tight and wet for me.”
“Fuck,” you grip the counter harder at the filth coming from Javi.
Javi reaches between your bodies to rub your clit, making you clench around him even harder. Your throat is almost raw from your noises as you feel yourself getting close to your climax. Javi feels himself getting close, too, and doesn't let up on circling your bundle of nerves.
“Javi,” you warn, and you don’t have to say anything else for him to understand.
He leans into you, your knees against your chest, as his tip brushes against your cervix at the new position, sending you into overdrive. Your cunt grips Javi harshly as you orgasm, chanting his name. Javi feels himself nearing his own orgasm, letting you ride out yours before allowing himself to cum.
“Where do you want me to cum?” Javi asks.
“Inside,” you say, “Please.”
“Oh, I see. You’re a little cumslut, huh?” Javi teases, still rubbing your overstimulated clit softly as he tries to string another orgasm out of you.
“Yes,” you whine, but Javi pushes into you harder, stilling as you cum again, your cunt gripping him with vice and teetering him over the edge.
Javi curses as he fills you up, relishing in your pulsing warmth before pulling out slowly. Your chest heaves as Javi finally lets you relax your legs. He searches for a cloth to clean you both up with.
“Totally not what I was expecting out of today,” you say jokingly, allowing Javi to clean you up gently.
“Me either,” he shrugs, “But it’s not a bad way to end the day, right?”
“Right,” you grunt as you sit up, your back a little sore from being pressed into the granite.
Javi helps you off the counter, and you immediately beeline to the bathroom, turning the shower on.
“Wanna join?” you call out to Javi, who is still in the kitchen.
“Duh,” he calls back, hurrying to the bathroom where you stand, testing the water temperature.
Javi grabs you and picks you up, causing you to shriek as you wrap your legs and arms around him. This definitely beats laundry any day.

imagine javi eating out 🤭
yes. minors dni under the cut
tw: explicit oral sex (f recieving)
He’d be shoving his tongue inside, no mercy at all, his nose rubbing against your clit. He’d moan every time you’d clench around him, and tug on his hair, and he’ll grow hard. Your thighs clenched around his head, he’d pry them open again, giving you a smirk, and every time you’d close them again, he’d stop.
‘be a good girl for me, princess’
motherfucker would leave firm, hard strokes and just as you’re clenching around him, moaning like a maniac, about to cum on his face, he’d pull his tongue out, kiss your clit before leaving little gentle strokes around it, barely giving you what you want, making you beg and whine, and, god forbid cry for him. The second he sees those tears, though, he’s giving you the longest, most goddamn rejuvenating orgasm to date.
He’d lick you clean like a goddamn plate, press a kiss to your swollen clit and grin at you
‘damnit, baby, you’ve had a good one, yeah?’

I’m so obsessed with Boone I check the tags like everyday and I haven’t even seen the movie yet 😭😭😭 could you maybe do a cliche one? Like reader needs help w someone creeping her out at a bar or maybe a storm par guy and Boone steps up 🥴 smut is up to you 👀
Always Watching | Boone x Reader
Tumblr media
A/N: For reference you and Boone were basically dating without having labeled it, which is why he’s comfortable staying with you while you’re drunk.
Boone was always watching you. Not in a creepy way, he was always either just admiring you or making sure you were alright. Right now, he was making sure you were all right.
The Wranglers had stopped at a local bar to unwind for the night, and Boone was watching you from across the room while you talked excitedly to Lily. Lily said something to you and you nodded, and she turned and walked away. Boone didn’t watch her to see where she went.
His eyes were zeroed in on the random man that had sidled up next to you as soon as Lily left.
“Hey there, honey,” an unfamiliar voice reached your ears. You turned to the source, a strange man leering at you, uncomfortably in your personal space. “Oh, um, hi,” you greeted nervously. The man leaned in; you leaned back. “You’re gorgeous,” he purred.
You felt scared. The guy radiated bad energy and you were too drunk to do anything about it.
“Let me buy you a drink, beautiful,” the man said.
“I’m good actually, but that’s so nice of you to offer, thank you,” you tried to appease him.
The man frowned. Now angry, he hissed at you. “You ungrateful bitch. Come have a drink.” He grabbed your arm and you desperately tried to tug away.
Across the bar, Boone saw this and immediately charged across the room to you.
“Hey!” he barked. “Wanna let go of my girlfriend, buddy?”
The man let go of you after seeing and hearing Boone, standing straight. Boone marched up to you two, pushing you behind him and squaring up to the man.
“Sorry, man,” the dude rolled his eyes but held his hands up in surrender. “I didn’t realize she belonged to you.”
Boone’s frown deepened. “The lady doesn’t belong to anyone and you should be apologizing to her.”
“Why would I apologize to a stuck-up cunt–” the man was abruptly cut off when Boone’s fist connected with his face. Boone sent the man sprawling on his ass, clutching his nose. You stood behind Boone, clutching the back of his shirt, stunned. “Boone…”
Boone turned to you, pulling you into his arms. “I couldn’t let him get away with treating you and talking to you like that, baby.”
Your face warms.
Despite Boone calling you his girlfriend, you two weren’t dating. But your heart beat faster when he said it.
“Yo, let’s get out of here before the cops show up,” Tyler urged Boone. Boone grabbed your hand and dragged you out of the bar and into Tyler’s truck, Tyler flooring it once everyone was buckled.
You arrived back at the motel you all were staying at for the night. You clambered out of the truck and stumbled over to Boone, hugging him tightly. You slumped in his arms and Boone had to support your body weight.
“C’mon, honey,” Boone cooed, steadying you on your feet. “Let’s get you in bed.” He slung your arm around his shoulders and wrapped his arm around your waist to support you, and began leading you to your motel room.
Once in your room you slumped on the bed. Boone took off your shoes. “Will you change me?”
Boone was caught off guard by your question. “This outfit is really uncomfortable… I don’t mind you seeing me naked if you don’t mind seeing me naked, ha…”
Boone felt his face heat up but he laughed. “Okay, baby, I’ll help you change.”
You turned around and moved your hair so he could unhook your top. When he did, you slid it off, and Boone very consciously avoided staring at your boobs. You managed to unbutton and unzip your jean shorts, but that’s as far as you got. “Boone,” you whined.
Boone was a blushing mess as he pulled your shorts down your legs and all the way off. He quickly distracted himself by finding you a nice soft set of pajamas. He collected a pair and came back to you, nodding off in bed half naked.
He pulled the top over your head and adjusted it for you, before sliding the bottoms up your legs. You managed to help by lifting your hips so he could get them all the way on. Once you were dressed, Boone relaxed.
He lifted you in bridal-style, before moving to place you properly in the bed. He pulled the covers up over you. You frowned at him, looking like you were about to cry. “Wait, you’re staying with me, right?”
“What?”
“Stay with me. I don’t want to sleep alone like this,” you whined.
Boone stripped down to his boxers before turning off the lights and joining you in bed. You cuddled up to him and Boone blushed, glad you couldn’t tell in the dark.
You fell asleep almost immediately. Boone admires you for a little while before inevitably succumbing to sleep himself.
You were the first to wake up in the morning. You’d been drunk, but you hadn’t been blacked out, so you remembered everything from the previous night.
You stared up at Boone with adoration in your eyes. It was like he sensed someone watching him in his sleep because his eyes fluttered open after a few moments. “Good morning, sunshine,” he grumbled sleepily.
You grinned at him. “Good morning, my love.”
Boone blinked awake at the term of endearment.
“No hangover?” Boone asked, diverting the subject. You shook your head. “Nope.”
“And you remember last night?”
You nodded. “Mhm. My hero.” You beamed at him. Boone blushed. “Oh hush…”
“Boone?” Your voice was suddenly very serious.
“Yeah?”
“I love you.”
Boone’s heart nearly jumped out of his throat. You were sober and telling him you loved him?
“I love you too.”
