So today, I had to correct an American tour guide. I use that term lightly. Where I live, we have a cathedral and it has many carvings. One of which is this one. Now, I volunteer in the cathedral. I volunteer in the library. I STUDY THIS STUFF.

It is a lion attacking a gryphon. Gryphons used to be the symbol of christ until major religious upheaval and such, so the lion was used

So..

Her: and here we have a lion killing a rhino.

Me:*walks up* excuse me that's wrong.

"I beg your pardon?"

"The animal the lion is attacking is not a rhino, it is a gryphon. It has wings. Up until the 17th century in england, the gryphon was the symbol of christ. The lion came in much later. Medieval people may have been stupid by today's standards yes... but there were fairs, court fairs and drawings of rhinos dating back to the 12th century. We have the books in the cathedral library."

Woman *blinks in confusion*

Me: oh! And if you care to look on the otherside, you will see the carving of the fat lion with the Skeleton of the gryphon

SHE THOUGHT IT WAS A RHINO.

These are completely valid feelings - but I don't want people to give up and let the time go altogether if those short gaps feel overwhelming or boring. (Good on you if you embrace mindfulness or just some calm breathing between stuff.) I personally feel so freed by 'capturing this time' by my library apps.

I have ten awkward minutes, and scrolling on social media would look bad/isn't interesting right now? Whip out a novel on my phone - even something light or silly would be a more fun way to fill the ten minutes. And before you know it, you may finish an extra book you didn't think you had time for. It is how I've gotten through half of the Inkeeper Chronicles, just going through a few pages every time I have a spare moment, it all adds up.

For my anxiety brain, little thoughts can spiral, so my backup book is always ready to get pulled up on my phone - no one can tell what I'm reading unless they're over my shoulder, and honestly, reading anything is more fun for me than staring at ceiling tiles and contemplating anxiety-thought-drain!

big issue with linear time is that when there are a few minutes until some event and they aren't enough minutes to do anything with, you just lose those minutes. I think you should be able to save them for later and then combine them into a chunk of leftover time that you get to use at the end of the day, like bonus hours.

If you saw me agreeing with being annoyed about wasted helium in a fictional context and were like "I bet she has some more helium based anger in her life" good news LAPD fucked up a raid on a medical facility they thought was a pot farm and flat out ruined thousands of gallons of the stuff.

#Back in the day the lab I worked in went through the stuff at a hell of a rate #But that was to actually do something at least #It's also fucking humiliating that a SF paper gets to write up our cops being dipshits #I am so fucking mad about both these aspects the wasted helium and that SF gets to laugh at us #I wrote a very very angry email to my city councilor but I do that like twice a week and I don't think he reads them or anything #So I suspect this one will also not move much

Bruce definitely trained all the Robins to abandon him if things got bad. He'd give them scenarios like him trapped under something in a fire, hypothermic conditions, he's too injured, and they need to get information to Lucius, and the list goes on. And to date, the only bit of training his kids have continually failed, whether in simulation or practice, is failing to leave him behind.

#Not counting Red Hood Jason for the most part.
