Been seeing posts about these Resident Evil leaks surrounding RE9 and a possible RE1 remake. If Leon Kennedy is somehow the lead character of RE9 (which I don’t believe), I will either scream or cry but I don’t know if I’ll be a good reaction or a bad one. Either way, they’re gonna milk him till the end so let’s see what they come up with, especially when you consider how the face models and voice actors are treated by “fans”. Pero jajaja.

My only request is that if Leon is relevant to RE9, they should make him older and give him longer hair. If they can give us Chris when he’s like 40 something and graying, I want the same for Leon. GIVE HIM THE GRAYS! I also am secretly hoping that eventually, we get Leon having a breakdown. Idk, after all the shit he’s been through I need him to do some manic shit and have a cathartic moment where everything comes crumbling down. I want to see that man haunted by his demons and come back like a phoenix even if it’s one last time.

I love Leon to death, I do, but I also don’t want him to be the main character of the next installment lowkey. I also don’t really know if that makes sense considering they just dropped RE4R last year with Leon, and the context of the Winters family is allegedly supposed to be a trilogy so RE9 can be a conclusion to Rose & Ethan AND possibly Chris to figure out more about how he got involved in the first place or what happened to make him go rogue from the BSAA. We already know Capcom is remaking the prior RE games, we just don’t know in what order or what games they’re prioritizing. I would kill to have a Code Veronica or RE5 remake, or having something regarding Jill and Claire because I want them to return to the franchise as the important characters they are but Capcom just hates the RE female characters so we’ll see.

I never really trust leaks cause I just don’t think RE9 is anywhere near done and considering the inconsistencies in the RE “canon” timeline anyway, we just have to wait and see for any real announcements. But, I will continue to manifest the RE5 remake, I think a complete overhaul of that game and a reintroduction to Wesker, Chris, Jill, and Sheva would be so cool. Again, I don’t know shit, this is just me speculating but I don’t think those leaks are real either way so snooze fest. 🤷��♀️

soooo let's talk about the possible leaks on re9 and how they linked to ethan's return : them using the "9" phases of the moon where the 9th is called black moon who is connected to lilith/reincarnation (megamycete was called thr black god ???), them using ennemies who can be nice at first glance but not really (ethan slowly losing control ? and he needs to prove himself to whoever is with him)

About the re9 "leaks":

"A closing chapter for a few things" This doesn't mean anything. It's definitely not a closing chapter for Chris UNLESS the game takes place post-Shadows of rose. Which I doubt, because Chris would be over 60. This could be a closing chapter for Leon and Ada, but hopefully without Ada's death (Aeon haters can die mad). It could also be a closing chapter for Jill, who we haven't seen in any NEW (not remake) mainline content in a while. I don't see it as a closing chapter for Claire because honestly, Claire doesn't have anything to close. She has no overarching story, no unfinished business or loose ends. She just Shows Up sometimes. I'd like to see Mia and Chris being forced to work together to close the Mold chapter out, and perhaps explain why Mia doesn't have rose in the Village DLC. But I doubt it--when there's a vitriolic reaction to a female character, Capcom just plays into it and panders to it rather than trying to develop the character.

"Both a closing and a beginning" This, again, is too vague to actually mean anything. Hopefully it means that the OG 4 are done-done, and we'll be moving forward with new-ish characters, like the original intention of re6 (til it bombed). Sherry, Jake and Helena did nothing wrong. Bring them back, and Parker and Sheva. (Carlos ILY but you're too old bb, please be retired.)

"New story arcs to come after re9" Note that they said new arcs--this just means they won't be continuing the mold. It doesn't necessarily mean we're getting new characters or Chris is retired. I highly doubt they're giving up Chris. That man isn't getting a break ever.

"Takes the series to new directions" ...this also is too vague to mean anything other than "no more mold". There aren't many more directions to take the series other than psychological horror (since zombies, parasites, cocoons and now mold have been done). That would be the only direction they haven't tried, though they tested the waters in Village. I'd like to see it. This could also just be another vague way of saying "new story arcs".

Highest budget/longest development time/release in 2025 This is the only part that sounds like an actual leak. And it still doesn't mean anything. We've seen plenty of high budget AAA games still suck. It's likely going to be a beautiful game, we know Capcom can make great settings with amazing atmosphere.

there are three huge red flags

"play tester" leaks have never, ever turned out to be real when it comes to RE. in fact, as far as i can tell, capcom doesn't even do focus group play testing for their games; all of their QA seems to be done internally by their own staff

the person who "leaked" this was the same guy who "leaked" RE1 re-remake, which was immediately debunked by DG and andy and a few prominent streamers as being complete bullshit. this is someone who has a pretty substantial twitter following in RE fandom, so it seems like people use him as a way to jebait the fandom en masse because they know that he'll release any info he gets as a "leak" for clout if it's written convincingly enough

it contradicts details that we've gotten from actual reliable leakers like DG and andy

and even outside of that, like

even if capcom DID use focus group play testers, those play testers wouldn't have this level of detail with regards to the story. they'd receive a very narrow, almost surgical vertical slice of the game that would allow them to experience different aspects of gameplay without revealing too much about the larger project. play testers don't exist to focus group a story. play testers exist to focus group gameplay. and to have a play tester "leak" that doesn't say a single fucking word about gameplay is the most ridiculous shit i've ever heard of.

it's also just so vague because, when you're bullshitting, you never want to give direct quotes. you give just enough details to seem plausible without giving away too much to reveal that you're lying. "rose is mentioned" -- yeah? why? how? who said it? what'd they say? even if you don't remember an exact quote, surely you can remember the context of the mention? no???? nothing????? is it because you're fucking lying????????

and not for nothing, but this guy has been screaming about the goatman in the hospital for MONTHS, and now that reddit is tired of him and constantly calling him for being a bullshit artist, i guess he decided to take his made up story to a different audience in order to keep getting attention.

Yeah, the video talks exactly about those points. Yes, the "leaks" that repeated themselves during the year are:

✪ Jill Valentine and Leon S Kennedy will be the main characters;

✪ Main enemies will be evolved Zombies, similar to Ganados in Resident Evil 4 as they can also use melee weapons;

✪ Leon will be stalked by a constant enemy while Jill will be attacked by the Goatman.

✪ April Playtest was a Jill section in the Abandoned Hospital while the September Playtest included Leon in the Forest.

✪ Resident Evil 9 will close the Resident 7 and Village story with the Megamycete.

We all heard about the "Goatman", and the "Leon and Jill" working together, too. So, maybe that means the Leaks from earlier this year are all true, or these are not true either.

So the point now is... Is this all true and RE9 leaked completely earlier this year, or are neither of those true?

The absolute level of copium I’m huffing reading RE9 leaks and seeing it’s supposedly gonna be about The Connections and convincing myself Lucas will come back. I’ve said it before, but a big deal is made about anyone infected is that they crystallize and crumble when killed Permanently. Jack doesn’t in his first boss fight and comes back later. Everyone in RE8 does it. Lucas does NOT crystallize at the end of Not a Hero. He only gets goopy ☝🏻🤓
