I decided to give my hand at drawing Ratchet, since I drew Leon (I drew Leon several times) and after tracing the official rendering and just studying the face shape, I have successfully drawn Ratchet (the side still needs a bit of work, but I'll get there)

Ratchet & Clank Part 2: Y'got bolts to spare buddy?
A recurring theme throughout this game and the next is characters often demanding you fork over a bunch of bolts in order to get an item you’ll need to proceed. This happens pretty often and makes it imperative that you’re always on the hunt for more bolts and are somewhat careful in how you spend them, lest you find yourself in need to go around collecting some more if you don’t have enough to pay for the next paywall. Considering how this game was, if I’m not mistaken, made by some of the same folks who made the original Spyro trilogy I’m guessing that they really liked the character of Moneybags
The Space Station represents the first true difficulty spike in the game, mostly due to those mutant monsters who can chase you around relentlessly and have pretty quick attacks. It’s also where you fight your first boss, who can be pretty awkward to fight due to the fact that it spawns in more enemies at certain moments, and given the way gunplay works here (again: later) and the fact that the camera can’t quite concentrate on all of them at once, expect to die here. Luckily these games have no lives system so you can die as often as you want
This is also where we find our first Clank section! I have some...issues with these, but this one is short and inoffensive. Clank is a small dude and not very strong, so his sections are more about pure platforming mixed with puzzle elements usually involving other tiny robots he can command
Also this is where you can find (or rather buy) Ratchet’s Grind Boots!
Yeah Ratchet can just straight up grind like it’s Sonic Adventure 2. I don’t think any of the devs have ever officially stated that Sonic was an inspiration for the character, but c’mon: furry anthropomorphic animal with an attitude as the protagonist of a platformer game, accompanied by a more naive and nerdy companion? Maybe it wasn’t exactly intentional but given the effects that Sonic has had over mascot platformers I’m pretty sure some of his DNA is absolutely present here (although the way Ratchet carries Clank around like a backpack reminds me of Banjo Kazooie more than anything else)

Hello there! Ratchet and Clank Up Your Arsenal is the game that perfected the standard of the Ratchet and Clank series. It is my favorite game of the PS2 trilogy, so it only makes for the this to be the biggest and best animation for our heroes! Like, comment, and subscribe :)

Top 5 Media Experiences of 2022

Snapcube's Ratchet and Clank 3 playthrough
DanganRonpa 1 and 2
Dar Williams

First of all, I liked all of her RnC playthroughs a lot. I loved it when she sold Clank for 640,000 bolts, and the tangent about Ratchet going over to someone's house and doing sideflips in front of them after chat tricked her into the boob glitch. Her ship voiceover for Going Commando was one of my favorite parts of those sections, I love how it became like defacto knowledge that it was the ship itself making those noises.
"uhh yeah can you get me one of those chiccy sandwiches please? thank you thank you thank you" is burned into my brain bc Youtube kept losing my place and I kept having to start that VOD from the start. The tangent about the clothes seller in Tools of Destruction comes from a goofy place and I love it. The first four streams go from strength to strength - they're incredibly entertaining and immensely quotable, even months later.
I watched a LOT of Ratchet streams this year. Never quite finished Crack in Time and beyond, but I saw the rest. And 3 is my favorite, because A) that was the one big formulative Ratchet and Clank game I played as a kid, and B) 3 is probably the funniest and most well-structured game in the PS2 era. I never knew because I had limited experience with the first two games, but it's no surprise at all that 3 was the first game with a dedicated writing staff after seeing the other two (which are perfectly great games in their own right).
So clearly I have a bias here. Penny seemed to have an absolute blast with this game, I remember her losing her shit at the Courtney Gears music video and she bought into Dr. Nefarious after being wary of him due to prior exposure to the character. That bias played a role in my enjoyment, sure, but it also just felt nice to see such a funny, cozy stream because I'm not used to that.
I've historically watched a lot of Vinesauce, Game Grumps etc. for like odd games and video game corruptions - I feel like even the more homey aspects of that content is steeped in irony and shitposting, with Game Grumps in particular being noticeably caustic. There's just as much laughing at the content creator for falling short at their sisyphean task as there is in sharing their victories, maybe even moreso. That's sort of been the cornerstone of how I consume game media. I've become very jaded and irony-poisoned over the years.
I think what made the Snapcube streams so special is that I was almost never laughing at Penny, but I was laughing with her. Yes, losing a bunch of lives can be frustrating and it can be funny to see someone react to that. But for every time Penny misses a jump and goes "Fuck!" with a small laugh or a bit of rage, there's an extended comedy bit she does that ends up being really funny and well-built, and it comes across as her having great fun with it too. I think it's that crowd work that makes her stand out the way she does.
That energy carried into RnC3, which was an incredibly nostalgic experience, and I enjoyed seeing her react to the game itself almost as much as I liked her own additions and embellishments along the way. The fact that she was playing such a nostalgic game was a bonus - personal memories or not, I was looking forward to entry #3 of like #8 of this awesome, entertaining game marathon I was enjoying so much. The nostalgia was still a huge highlight though.
Beginning to watch Snapcube streams as a whole was a highlight of 2022, but RnC3 just put a smile on my face like nothing else. The Sonic fandubs are really good, I absolutely saw those before I saw her streams, but these streams were what made me a Snapcube fan.

I didn’t know you had played any of the Ratchet and Clank games! You may have answered this with the third installment question, but what’s your favorite game in the series? If that question’s been answered, do you have a favorite character?
Oh boy, if it would interest you, I'd like to share the fact that not only have I played Ratchet & Clank, I actually streamed almost the entire series back to back and you can watch every single playthrough right now on YouTube :)
WITH THAT BEING SAID, i think just in terms of sheer gameplay polish and visual fidelity, as well as the inclusion of Rivet which is a character design I adore, Rift Apart is probably my favorite in the series??? after that it would either be A Crack in Time or Up Your Arsenal but those kinda go back and forth so I'm not exactly sure which I prefer to the other.

PlayStation 5 Pro Console - Reveal Trailer
youtube
PS5 Pro Technical Presentation hosted by Mark Cerny
PlayStation 5 Pro, an enhanced version of PlayStation 5, will launch on November 7, 2024 for $699.99 / £699.99 / €799.99 / ¥119,980. It will be available as a disc-less console, with the currently available disc drive available as a separate purchase. Pre-orders will begin on September 26, 2024.
First details via The PlayStation Blog
We developed PlayStation 5 Pro with deeply engaged players and game creators in mind—as many have asked for a console that runs even higher fidelity graphics with smoother frame rates at 60 frames per second. We achieved this on PlayStation 5 Pro with several key performance features.
Upgraded GPU – With PlayStation 5 Pro, we are upgrading to a GPU that has 67% more Compute Units than the current PlayStation 5 console and 28% faster memory. Overall, this enables up to 45% faster rendering for gameplay, making the experience much smoother.
Advanced Ray Tracing – We’ve added even more powerful ray tracing that provides more dynamic reflection and refraction of light. This allows the rays to be cast at double, and at times triple, the speeds of the current PlayStation 5 console.
AI-Driven Upscaling – We’re also introducing PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, an AI-driven upscaling that uses a machine learning-based technology to provide super sharp image clarity by adding an extraordinary amount of detail.
PlayStation 5 Pro provides gamers with amazing graphics at high frame rates. You can hear Mark Cerny, lead architect for PlayStation 5 Pro, discuss the key innovations from PlayStation 5 Pro in the following video presentation. This presentation provides a deep dive into the key performance features that make PlayStation 5 Pro truly special.
Other enhancements include PlayStation 5 Pro Game Boost, which can apply to more than 8,500 backward compatible PlayStation 4 games playable on PlayStation 5 Pro. This feature may stabilize or improve the performance of supported PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 games. Enhanced Image Quality for PlayStation 4 games is also available to improve the resolution on select PlayStation 4 games. PlayStation 5 Pro will also launch with the latest wireless technology, Wi-Fi 7, in territories supporting this standard. VRR and 8K gaming are also supported.
It’s humbling to see how game creators have embraced the latest technology from PlayStation 5 Pro, and several games will be patched with free software updates for gamers to take advantage of PlayStation 5 Pro’s features. These games can be identified with a PlayStation 5 Pro Enhanced label within their title. Some games you can look forward to include blockbuster hits from PlayStation Studios and our third-party partners, such as Alan Wake 2, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Demon’s Souls, Dragon’s Dogma II, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Gran Turismo 7, Hogwarts Legacy, Horizon Forbidden West, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, The Crew Motorfest, The First Descendant, The Last of Us Part II Remastered, and more.
We kept the look of the PlayStation 5 Pro consistent with the overall PlayStation 5 family of products. You’ll notice the height is the same size as the original PlayStation 5, and the width is the same size as the current PlayStation 5 model to accommodate higher performance specs. Players can add an Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive, or swap out console covers when they become available.

PlayStation 5 Pro fits perfectly within the PlayStation 5 family of products and is compatible with the PlayStation 5 accessories currently available, including PlayStation VR2, PlayStation Portal, DualSense Edge, Access controller, Pulse Elite, and Pulse Explore. The user interface and network services will also remain the same as PlayStation 5.
The PlayStation 5 Pro console will be available this holiday at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $699.99 USD, £699.99 GBP, €799.99 EUR, and ¥119,980 JPY (includes tax). It will include a 2TB SSD, a DualSense wireless controller, and a copy of ASTRO’s PLAYROOM pre-installed in every PlayStation 5 Pro purchase. PlayStation 5 Pro is available as a disc-less console, with the option to purchase the currently available disc drive for PlayStation 5 separately.
PlayStation 5 Pro will launch on November 7, 2024 and will be available at participating retailers and directly from PlayStation at PlayStation Direct. Preorders will begin on September 26, 2024.
Our PlayStation 5 journey would not be possible without the millions of players that have supported us through the years and have shared with us their love of gaming. Whichever console option players choose, whether it’s PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Pro, we wish to bring everyone the very best gaming experience that fits their needs.

Ratchet & Clank Part 1: In a galaxy far,far away...
Ok disclaimer: I am not a long time Ratchet & Clank fan, in fact I only got into the games roughly a year ago and even then it’s only the PS2 games since I have no means to play the rest. So I can’t claim to be an expert at these games. Regardless I quite enjoyed my time with them so I figured I’d make some videos on them
So what’s Ratchet & Clank all about? Well when it comes to the original game I should be clear that many of the things I’ll say about this one will not necessarily always apply to the other games.
Ratchet 1 is a game I like to compare to Sonic 1: both games created the fundamental aspects of each series but they also play pretty differently than later games. Much like how Sonic 1 plays more like a traditional 2D platformer that just happens to go fast every so often, Ratchet 1 plays less like the fast paced, high octane run and gun platformers that are the later Ratchet games, and more like a typical 3D collectathon platformer that happens to have some measure of gun play, though perhaps it’ll be best to explain that aspect better at a later time
So how do levels work here? Well typically you land on a planet and each planet features multiple sections or “obstacle courses” as I like to call them. Think of them as seperate levels all connected by a common hub area, once you pick a path you’ll follow it until you reach its end where the game will always provide you with some form of shortcut to the initial area so you can go choose another path.
At the end of each “course” you’ll generally find either a weapon, a gadget you’ll need to progress through the game or an Infobot containing the coordinates to another planet
Finding each major objective is no biggie because they’re clearly marked on the map as question marks, the focus is more on the challenges you’ll face along the way. I’ll just say that Ratchet 1 has by far the most thought out level design of the PS2 games mainly due to its heavy emphasis on pure platforming, and it can certainly get pretty varied, especially with the environments due to the whole planet switching stuff. I like to think of it as Metroid Prime 3 but cartoony and with furries and with anti-capitalist satire.
Bolts are really important as they act as currency here. You can find them lying around, dropped by dead enemies and inside crates ripped straight out of Crash Bandicoot. Always try to get as many bolts as you can, not just because you’ll need them to buy new weapons but also because well....let’s just say this game is very good at emptying your wallet and leave it at that for now
In the meantime please jam to Planet Veldin’s theme!
(Also that’s Clancy Brown voicing Chairman Drek, aka Dr.Cortex’s old voice. He kinda steals the show a bit)
