Things I learned

Someone I was with once told me (shortly after breaking up with me ) “ you know you practically wasted my time... you know how sick you were and that you needed help. You could have done that way before we got together then we would have been fine but your stubborn self didn’t do that [...]” this was the single most hurtful thing I had ever heard ( that’s pretty much why I can remember the exact sentences word for word, well... that and screenshot technology 😅) at the time all I could think of was why would someone I love (and who loved me too) say something like that about me!

A year, several therapy sessions, and an insane amount of inspirational IG posts later! (I still think it was a pretty insensitive speech) but I realize how much she had a point. I made the mistake of thinking someone else was in charge of fixing me... I knew I was damaged and I didn’t seek the help I needed instead I sought comfort in the arms of someone whose job I just decided was to take my load of crap on top of hers... I was cut deep and relied on another soul to dig in and clean a wound that I could only heal myself!

Loving someone isn’t supposed to magically make all your nightmares go away! Having someone doesn’t mean you have a place to dump all your worries! And no matter how much love someone can have for you at some point you’ll have to love yourself first and more, otherwise everything else will be in vain and you will ( like I did ) end up wasting someone else’s love. And it’s not like I’m saying that it’s good to give up on things that hurt us (great things often require pain and effort) but think about how many times they have tried before finally letting go, for their own wellbeing and happiness!

Try not to destroy someone else trying to fix yourself
