Rajasthani Thali
Rasoi Ghar is a Rajasthani Restaurant located at Karama which is famous for thalis. If you are craving for traditional Rajasthani/Guajarati food then this is the right place for you. This is a family dining restaurant and is great for a get-together
as the place is huge. I went here for lunch on a Sunday and damn this place was crowded with families! This is a budget-friendly place and is perfect if you are really hungry looking for vegetarian food.
As we walked in, we were welcomed by a staff member and assigned us a table. The first they do is bring a pot of water to wash our hands. All clean and ready to eat. First, the starters were served as well as the Kokum juice which tasted very refreshing. The starters consisted of Papdi Chaat, Dokhla and Barsa Dola. This was served with mint coriander chutney and tamarind sauce. The starters were very light and nice and I was in for another serving.
PAPDI CHAAT
STARTERS – PAPDI CHAAT, DHOKLA, BARSA DOLA
After the starters, buttermilk was served. Then came in the main course in a big thali silver plate. The contents of the thali were the traditional bean cabbage salad, Gatte ki Sabzi, Aloo Rasawala, Methi Paneer, ker sangri, dal kadhi, spicy dal, sweet dal, dal kadhi along with pulka, puri, and bajra roti. I liked my meal especially the bajra roti. As we finished with the flatbread we were served with steamed rice, pudina rice and khichdi.
We didn’t really like the khichdi because it felt very bland as I like my khichdi very spicy. We preferred the pudina rice was yummy. We suggest you should go for the pudina rice if you are looking for more flavor. The thali was quite nice and is perfect for non-spicy lovers. The main course was good but the only drawback is that the curries are served in a spoon quantity so if you need more you have to call the waiter over and over again. Rasoi Ghar isn’t like the regular thali meal joints where the curries are served fully in a bowl. The idea of giving food in smaller quantities is to keep the food hot.
PUDINA RICE
KHICHDI
For dessert, we were served Orange Chomchom and Lapsi. I liked the orange chomchom a lot but the Lapsi was not as sweet as the traditional Lapsi, so if you really love Lapsi then you might be disappointed a little. The shrikhand is the winner here. This is the creamiest shrikhand we have ever eaten. I would call this a nice place to dine in the big Indian vegetarian way.
SWEETS – ORANGE CHOMCHOM, SHRIKHAND, LAPSI
FUN FACT – Did you know Rasoi Ghar has 72 rotational menus? Shocking isn’t it.
Verdict – MUST VISIT
TASTE – 3.5/5
QUANTITY – 5/5
PRICE – 5/5
PROMPTNESS – 5/5
CUSTOMER SERVICE – 5/5

No sushi for Japanese PM Shinzo Abe?
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe does not seem to have been served any sushi for dinner last night.
Abe is in India on a two-day visit.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Abe were served a "Gujarati thali" and "Japanese delicacies" for dinner Wednesday night.

The Japanese delicacies included a satsumaimo (sweet potato) katsu curry.
Katsu is a breaded, deep-fried cutlet.
There was also a ginger soya dafu (tofu braised in ginger-flavoured soya sauce).
An eggplant akamise (spiced dark miso sauce).
And a miso yaki udon (udon noodles in miso, stir fried).
On the Gujarati thali were, among others, a palak jamun (fried milk dumplings in spinach gravy), a rasawala bateta (potatotes in spiced Gujarati curry), and a bharela parvar (pointed gourd slow cooked in milk).
For dessert, there was saffron jalebi, a trio of ice cream (mango, fig, and kesar pista), and petit fours (date balls) to choose from.
The menu seems to have been all-vegetarian.
Sushi of course is Japan's most popular food, or at least its best-known.
It consists of small balls or rolls of vinegar-flavoured cold rice served with a garnish of vegetables, egg, or raw seafood.
Abe flew into Ahmedabad on Wednesday.

The two prime ministers took out a roadshow -- in an open jeep -- to Sabarmati Ashram yesterday.
Abe wore a white kurta pajama and a blue Nehru jacket. His wife Akie Abe wore a salwar kameez.
They also visited the iconic Sidi Saiyyed Mosque, popularly called Sidi Saiyyid ki Jaali.
Today, Modi and Abe will attend the ground-breaking ceremony for India's planned "bullet-train" project (or high-speed railway corridor) linking Ahmedabad to Mumbai.
