The early morning light filtered through the towering windows of Wayne Manor, casting a soft glow across the polished wooden floors of the library. Damian Wayne sat cross-legged on the floor, surrounded by a collection of books he was meticulously sorting. His usual scowl was absent, replaced by a rare look of concentration.

You entered the room quietly, not wanting to disturb him. But Damian, with his sharp senses, noticed you immediately. His green eyes flicked up, and a small smirk tugged at the corner of his lips.

“Good morning,” you said cheerfully, moving to sit beside him.

“Morning,” Damian replied, his tone casual, though his heart rate quickened just slightly at your presence. He wasn’t one to show much emotion, but you had a way of drawing out the softer side of him, something he’d never admit out loud.

You reached for one of the books he’d set aside. “What are you working on?”

“Categorizing,” he said simply. “These volumes were misplaced.”

You nodded, flipping through the pages of an old, leather-bound book. “You know, you don’t always have to be so serious,” you teased, glancing at him with a playful smile.

Damian huffed, but there was no bite to it. “Someone has to be.”

You laughed softly, leaning closer to him. The scent of your shampoo filled his senses, and for a brief moment, Damian found it difficult to focus on anything other than the fact that you were inches away. He steeled himself, maintaining his calm exterior.

“I’m serious too, sometimes,” you said, leaning back on your hands. “But it’s also okay to relax.”

He nodded, not trusting himself to speak just then. There was a comfortable silence between you as you both continued sorting through the books. Damian found himself stealing glances at you, the way your hair fell across your face, the way your lips curved into a smile as you read something interesting. His heart thudded in his chest, a reaction he couldn’t quite suppress.

After a while, you finished your stack and stretched your arms above your head, sighing contentedly. “Well, that was productive.”

Damian nodded again, feeling an odd sense of contentment himself. Being around you had that effect on him. It was something he was still getting used to.

As you stood up, brushing off your jeans, you looked down at him with a mischievous glint in your eyes. “Thanks for letting me help,” you said, leaning down quickly to plant a light kiss on his cheek. “You’re the best, Damian.”

The kiss was brief, a featherlight touch, but it sent a jolt through Damian’s entire body. He froze, his expression carefully neutral, though his mind was anything but. His heart raced, and he was suddenly hyper-aware of the spot on his cheek where your lips had touched.

“Of course,” he managed to say, his voice surprisingly steady despite the chaos inside him. He kept his gaze on the books, pretending to be utterly unfazed.

But inside, Damian was anything but calm. His thoughts spiraled, his mind replaying the moment over and over. Did that just happen? Was it a sign? Did you like him as much as he liked you? A thousand questions raced through his mind, but on the outside, he remained stoic.

You didn’t seem to notice his internal struggle, or maybe you did and chose not to comment. You simply smiled at him, a bright, carefree smile that made his heart stutter.

“I’ll see you later, okay?” you said, already heading for the door.

“Yeah, later,” Damian replied, watching as you left the room, the door closing softly behind you.

The moment you were gone, Damian let out a breath he didn’t realize he was holding. He touched the spot on his cheek where you had kissed him, a small, almost imperceptible smile forming on his lips.

“Maybe,” he whispered to himself, his heart still racing, “just maybe…”

And for the rest of the day, the thought of you and that brief kiss occupied his every thought, a secret thrill he kept hidden beneath his composed exterior.

I fear you may have opened a gate, because talking about Sirius Black is one of my favorite things to do!

Sirius Black is one of the most amazing characters of all time. He has so much to offer, and in the last few years in the HP community, people have diminished him to just his relationships.

Really, Sirius is intelligent, charming, and loyal! He cares about his friends, but he can also be cruel when he wants to.

He has so much tragedy wrapped around him. He suffered so much; he had a difficult childhood.

You won't see me making those stupid headcanons about Walburga and Orion torturing him and Regulus. I mean, come on, their family dynamic is so interesting because it's more than just evil parents versus hopeless children. Anyway, that's a discussion for another time (but I'll die on the hill that Sirius was the favorite child of both his parents).

As I've pointed out before, I don't mind if people headcanon him as feminine; the biggest problem for me is that usually the people who make him short (oh, so short, he fits in big Moony's pocket) also make him stupid.

And oh, that really pisses me off.

This was the main reason I practically stopped being a W*lfstar shipper. I hated how people distorted Sirius's personality, ruining it.

This also led me to start venturing into rare pair fics, which brought me to Prongsfoot (and Prongsfoot is such a rabbit hole—very addictive!).

I don't know if I've filtered my Tumblr very well, but for me, it seems people are yearning for some canon representation of Sirius!

Let my man be this charming, handsome, TALL (yeah, that's right, he is the tallest Marauder!), but also arrogant, loyal, and cruel to those he doesn’t like.

I think more people are realizing the ship isn't as great as the fandom makes it out to be, but C//A is indeed very much popular and it can be hard filtering it out of our online spaces.

Yes, do it! You mean WLW couples or are others welcome too? I would suggest W/illuz (Willow x Luz) and R/aeda (Raine x Eda) from The Owl House. The latter isn't exactly an unpopular ship, but I feel like R/aeda doesn't get as much content as ships like L/umity and H/untlow. Willow x Luz then, my god, that ship is so underrated! It was my first ship when I got into TOH and I still love it. It's sad that I rarely see new content for it nowadays (it used to get a lot of hate in the s1 days because people refused to accept Luz being paired up with anyone other than Amity. That sounds very familiar...).

Hi! I hope it’s okay to hop into your ask box to talk about tagging. I feel like we’ve been on tumble for a similar amount of time, and I just wanted your thoughts or opinions on what I feel like is incorrect tagging. The 2 main sides I’ve seen have been on people that are tagging their content but they are tagging it as “s*x” or “p*wp*w” or something with a cutesy name that makes it more g rated. But they do not tag it as sex or gun violence as well. Which in turn mean that people are not able to filter this content or make an informed choice on weather they want to engage with that content. And then the second is where people are tagging with specific tags, such as character a x character b with the goal of getting as many people to read or engage with their content, but it has nothing to do with this character. I’ve been comparing it to false advertising. And I understand that tagging on Tumblr has never been great (it’s not AO3), but I really feel like with the fall of other sites Reddit and Twitter being the main that come to mind and this resurgence of Tumblr that the issue has become more pronounced. I feel like the 1st is a safety concern and the second is just rude/inconvenience especially when creators are called out multiple time by different blogs and refuse to except that the way they are tagging is not the way that tagging works on Tumblr or otherwise. I guess I was just wonder if others were seeing the issues or if I was just becoming the grouchy old man screaming at the neighbor kids to get off the lawn. And if it’s not just me, if you or your followers have come up with a way to filter these out. I’ve just resorted to blocking accounts that refuse to tag in a safe or appropriate manner.

I’ve definitely seen other discussions about the problems of tagging, or lack thereof.

If I’m totally honest, I need to preface my response with saying that I’m perhaps one of the lucky ones in that it is very rare for words or content to trigger me in some debilitating way (I might be too numb to the world, which is concerning in its own right but a topic for another day), but I have loved ones who have had genuine traumas and have been subjected to unexpected triggers. Having not experienced the extreme of it first hand (for me I usually feel strong annoyance at the worst), I have seen how damaging it can be to other people and that makes me very aware of it online, especially Tumblr.

That being said, I wholly agree with you that censoring words in the tags defeats the whole purpose of tagging. You can censor all you like in the post itself or text images, whatever, but the tag blockers simply won’t work if the word in its proper spelling isn’t there. So when people are using asterisks in place of vowels (like s*x) with the intention of being careful and protecting someone? It’s doing the exact opposite.

I agree with the second thing too, about characters and their ships being tacked on to a buttload of other tags for the sake of exposure, even though it isn’t relevant. It’s definitely false advertising! It’s basically click bait. I’m sure there are cases where it was not intentional, perhaps the characters and their ship have a small role in a longer fic, so the author or op thought it was important to include them, but if they aren’t the focus, and if they aren’t important enough to the rest of the story if it’s a fic, I think it’s probably best to leave it out of the tags. Worst case scenario for not tagging it is the people who like it will be pleasantly surprised. The people who don’t like it can keep scrolling or for fics will just have to tolerate it for the small part that it’s included in the story.

Tagging on Tumblr is very much a unique animal. I never see it translate well onto other platforms, so a lot of newbies on this site probably go the Tik Tok or Instagram route where the more tags the better, even if they’re just barely relevant. I once put my own comments in hashtags on Instagram, and someone called me out on it not understanding why I was writing long tags that don’t even exist in the algorithm. LMAO oops

Block tags when you can, block accounts when you have to. I’ve done it here and there, because in a place like Tumblr, the more comfortable you can make it for yourself the better. It’s not always worth the fight or the argument in this wild west site.

Also, I know I am not always the best at tagging things. Usually I get lazy when it comes to tagging specific fandoms, but I do try because I know some of the things I like may not be everyone’s cup of tea, and that’s okay!

I am also always open to anyone who needs to kick me in the ass to tag better or something. Scrolling Tumblr half awake most of the time does not make for a conscientious reblogger…

It's not meant to be harsh, but I do have rules beyond the rules when it comes to Jax.

With waking Jax back up, there are boundaries that I need to have on this blog. I am sure they are on his original blog: redwoodteller or possibly earlier on this blog. This is not about you, it's about me keeping my sanity and experience when it comes to writing Jax and what comes with having an attractive FC.

I don't mind writing with OC's or crossovers but it is a case by case basis. I have to have a solid backstory, why they would cross paths, and there will still be times that I say no. I just am very picky with Jax.

It comes with the territory, but dark and adult themes will apply usually. Sons of Anarchy is violent, Jax is violent as hell in the later seasons and he also deals with his feelings often, sexually. I don't always tw: but with Jax, I will TW anything people request. I already tw: slur, violence, gore, nsfw with him. I won't change who he is for anyone but you can filter it. He's not big on the slurs, doesn't really use the n one ever, but the w one that many people hate because of slut shaming happens frequently. He's the VP/President of a biker club, whose legitimate businesses are brothels and porn.

My default ship is not Jax/Tara. I have one Tara who I've written with for nearly ten years, and we write solely on Discord with, and another who I have written with, for a long time. Any other ones is really a case by case with me. There is a lot of issues that I have with Tara, and the people I've chosen to write with, tend to agree that she can be problematic at times.

I don't auto-ship ever, with him. He'll sleep with someone, but it's so much harder to get close. When it comes to canons, I do like Jax/Lyla a lot, Jax/Wendy, as well as Jax/Colette from Season 6 and Jax/Winsome in Season 7. But, I am open to things. It just has to make sense, and you just have to understand that he doesn't instantly fall in love. Season 7, which is my favorite season, it will take a very long time.

I used to say I wouldn't change Jax' characterization for my own mother, and well, I don't have my mom now, and I still wouldn't. I recently finished a rewatch but had been unable to watch for around 3 years. SOA has always been my therapy show but I needed to get a healthier relationship with it. But, I don't know where I'm at with that. Right now, Jax is easy for me and I'll likely start a rewatch again, once I finish my latest One Tree Hill rewatch. All that said, I am very very hardcore canon, for the timeline. I don't AU the ending really ever, because it's always what Jax wanted > what anyone else wanted. It's a take it as it comes but I am super strict on his characterization. I have 14 handwritten journals on characterization on Jax, before I ever brought him to tumblr in 2013 and more in a word file.

That said, it's not hard to write with Jax. I just don't alter him for anyone and don't make any promises. Also, replies on him sometimes take a little longer, on and off discord. I am also more than willing to write him on Tumblr, as well as Discord.

I don't really accept OC children of his, except in rare circumstances.

i make gifs using vapoursynth + ps. i use both the denoise [KNLM] & sharpening filters [FineSharp] in vapoursynth. i think my settings were close to this:

i change the 1.5 in the first line & the 4 in the second line depending on what i see fit! if it's too grainy i increase the 1.5 (my usual range is from 0.8 to 2, the default 1.2 is often just right,) & if it's too blurry i increase the sharpening. considering those gifs were big, i upped the sharpening but 4-5 is kind of my upper limit i rarely go higher than that. u can also change the other numbers but im too lazy to remember what they’re for lmao 😭

I feel like Discord it's way better to tell and block everything from the other person's view than let it super unclear. I think you should be able to toggle if you wanna see the pop up of "you have this person blocked, you wanna see their messages anyways in the server you guys are in?".

Esp in community servers, I feel like it sorta defeats the purpose, I just don't wanna know that person exists lol.

As for Tumblr, I would much prefer a system like Twitter's actually. Rarely, I felt way safer in Twitter when it came to blocking people, it felt way better that I could block their view of me but not my view of them, plus if they want to block my view of them they could block me back.

To not see posts, just muting people is nice. Then you can decide if you wanna see them in your notis or not if they interact with you.

What you could maybe do? Is on the content filter you can put in their username and it's pretty much muting them w/o blocking.

What I was thinking for a more subtle blocking feature is that their blog just doesn't update anymore for them, any new post after they were blocked they can't see. Or even just, updates of the blog as a whole, like layout changes. As well as removing yourself from their dash, even if mutuals reblog a post of yours.

It could tell you the same error thing when you're blocked now too.

edit: I forgot to add that yeah, I don't have issues with most people I block here LOL. Either they have me in their DNI or I just dont like their posts in gen. The blocking we have now could be a soft block option, while hard block could be well, for people that are harassing you or you're scared of em.

I kinda hate that Tumblr doesn't tell you when someone's blocked you. I don't know what's safer if blocking your view of the blog or just letting it like that.

I guess people here don't make that big of a deal off of blocking so, mayb that's something

OH WOW i genuinely still struggle with making high quality gifs, so i’m so touched that you think they look good!! i learned everything from tumblr tutorials, so sadly, i don’t have any videos to share

but! i’ve always wanted to share my process, so here it is, if you’re interested (or if anyone is, really!)

i’m constantly changing up my sharpening settings and coloring process, but here are some processes/tutorials that i (mostly) stick to nowadays, with this gif as my example:

i chose a difficult gif to color because that’s how universal this process is for me (usually)!!

base gif

load video into frames, cropping, resizing

this is all standard, so i'll just share the tutorial i follow: lizzo @ tumblr (steps 1-7)

sharpen smart object

i forgot where i got this, but essentially i use the basic Sharpen command then lower the filter’s opacity (25-50%). here’s where you can adjust smart filter opacity btw:

it doesn’t look like it does much, but i usually use this to finely sharpen the gif (by changing opacity) since i try not to mess with the Smart Sharpens

from buckysbarnes @ tumblr, here are my changes: Smart Sharpen 1: 500%, 0.3 px, reduce noise 20 Smart Sharpen 2: 20%, 10 px, reduce noise 4

these settings look good for this show, but i sometimes change the opacity of these filters for different shows if the gif is smaller (268px wide), i would reduce the opacity of these filters to 50%

my favorite thing, i can’t live without it now!!! thank you to cuddlybitch @ tumblr for sharing this technique; i use option 2 with these settings: intensity 10; contrast 50; grain type soft; opacity 25-50%

base coloring

yay it’s the fun part!!

brightness/contrast

honestly, i just press Auto and let photoshop do its thing! i’ll adjust from there, and i rarely ever adjust this

photo filter

deep blue, preserve luminosity on, then i play with the density (maximum 50%) in this gif, it’s at 32% because it’s very yellow

i sometimes add other filters depending on the mood i’m going for (usually yellow or cyan)

levels

this usually makes or breaks the gif! i start by pressing auto:

then i adjust: move highlights (rightmost arrow) to start/rise of the histogram to its left move shadows (leftmost arrow) to the start/rise of the histogram to its right i adjust midtones (middle arrow) based on the general brightness i want for the gif

color balance

i generally like my highlights more blue, but this entirely depends on the gif! i just play around until it looks more neutral

in this gif, i added more cyan & blue to the highlights and more cyan & yellow to the midtones/shadows

vibrance x3

i follow this tutorial from s-k-y-w-a-l-k-e-r @ tumblr (just the part about vibrance/saturation)

in ths case, i removed the color burn/color dodge layers because it was a little too saturated i just kept the vibrance +50 layer

hue/saturation

in this layer, i eliminate colors that don’t really add to the gif to reduce colors and increase the quality! i check where the colors are in the gif by increasing saturation to +100, then reducing it to -100 if it seems negligible. here’s what each color looks like

obviously, reds/yellows/magentas are important, but greens/cyans/blues could be removed i also reduced reds and yellows -10 because it was a little too saturated there

selective color

first, i adjust the black level of each color to adjust the contrast of colors (not the cyan/magenta/yellow yet)

and when i feel like it, that’s when i add subtle changes to the colors in this case, i only touched red, magenta, and white

vibrance +25

i usually add a little vibrance +25 at the end for fun haha

additional coloring

this is where i do all the gradients & text layers, but i think the base coloring is always more important!

there are probably ways to make it more efficient and use less layers, so i’m still constantly playing with these! this process also tries to preserve the original colors as much as possible, but i’m also able to wildly change colors with photo filters/color balance/selective color, if needed

Not to be mean but you only reblog art that is extremely done and with a lot of attention given to it. You rarely seem to give any attention to stuff out of your circle,, so I think you aren’t really the person to make that art psa post?

ur missing the point of my post i think? okay let me break it down to you: fandom, for me at least, is about making friends. you become friends when someone reaches out and talks to you or when you reach out and talk to someone. i have NEVER restricted anyone from talking to me. my dms are always open, meaning anyone can message me. i have asks open, anon on, so anyone can share any opinion they want with me, which you are doing right now, and they can potentially ‘befriend’ me and reveal who they are later, if they so choose. obviously, i control what asks get published on my blog, but that’s besides the point

the point is—am i obligated to answer every ask i receive? no. i have over 3,600 unanswered asks right now. i cannot possibly do that without destroying the dashes of everyone that follows me. and the point of my post is that no one is obligated to reblog anything from anyone BECAUSE people experience and curate their experiences differently. promoting better reblog culture and better fandom interactions is an extremely good thing. what i was hopefully getting across is that trying to pin that responsibility on any group/individual in any community is EXTREMELY counterproductive. it will get us nowhere

as for why i ‘rarely give attention to stuff outside my circle’ it’s very simple. i have Already curated my experience. i don’t look at posts in the tags. i don’t want my day ruined. i also cannot follow people who shit talk dream or george or quackity etc. and a bunch of other creators. idk how to tell you this but dteamblr is very small compared to other sectors of mcytblr. most of my mutuals/friends are people that actively post. or at least actively posted at some point that we were able to cross paths. the people i talk to a lot/the most i either don’t know their follower count or they told me for some reason and its anywhere from 50 to like a few thousand. so what do i do w my friends? i don’t really turn on notifications, but i do for a small handful. i promise you it’s very random and has nothing to do with follow count. i also don’t check my dash a lot. so if something is getting reblogged a lot, it increases my chances of seeing it, but even then… half the times i don’t see what my mutuals have been saying. most of the posts on my blog are my own posts or whatever i dump into my queue

which is my next point. i use the ‘stuff for you’ tab on the tumblr mobile app. that’s where i get most of the posts i queue. its like half fandom stuff half random shit. ik. its a SUPER scuffed ‘for you page’ but yes. i generally trust that tab to show me cool stuff. and often times what the algorithm decides is ‘for me’ are posts that already have a bunch of notes. so that’s the stuff i end up queuing. if my queue is running low, i go on there to queue a bunch of stuff and then i go. i mainly interact w my tumblr account through my friends and my activity page (that i have filtered so i see asks n replies n reblogs) so if i rb something my friend made, it’s because they sent it to me. anyone is welcome to send anything to me! but there’s no guarantee that i’ll reblog it because ultimately this is my blog and i decide what goes on it. i could ignore a piece of art w 5k notes. i could rb something w 100 notes. i can’t prove it to you because you don’t have access to how i browse, but i assure you i don’t look at art and go ‘well this only has x number of notes… not reblogging it then!’ like my blog isn’t my job i just do random shit here. im not gonna scour my dash and the tags head to toe for content. im sure im missing out on a ton of content but i simply do not have the time. i also make my own content so… i’m just gonna do what’s fun and easy for me. this is fandom. i’m not being paid to reblog your posts. you can if you want to! do you want to support a struggling student? my ko-fi is in my bio. does that horrify you? yeah exactly. fandom is for fun so while we can and should promote a supportive culture, no one is OBLIGATED to do anything

that’s… really all there is to it. i don’t have a vendetta against anyone. i promise you, if you dm me with a conversation topic in mind, i will HAPPILY engage in it with you, especially if it is a mutual interest. and if i am your friend, there is obviously a higher chance i will reblog your posts as compared to people i don’t know! i can’t speak for other people but that’s how i work. i’m not gonna reblog every piece of art or writing i see, and i assure you it has nothing to do with how ‘good’ i think something is. or how many notes it already has. hope this helps 👍🏻

also if i can make some closing thoughts… tumblr’s follower count is hidden. unless you’re telling me you go up to every account you see and hack in to find their follow count… you don’t know how much traction someone is actually getting? like over half my followers are inactive i promise you. our community is very small. i’m not making posts that break 1k left and right either. random stuff i do ‘for notes’ is genuinely just for fun. like have fun, don’t obsess over who is reblogging what, and talk about the things you like on your own blog.
