frosta would've been a way more interesting character if she were the more diplomatic and quiet princess she was introduced as.
like yeah, frosta should be allowed to be a kid, but comparing her s1 self to her s2-5 self is jarring. she just suddenly becomes that chaotic kid. i would've loved to see her actually developing as a character. i felt like she didn't have any character arc in the show. her wanting to befriend glimmer was rlly more about glimmer, who didn't have many friends and was too attached to bow as we saw in the princess prom. besides that, her brief interactions with micah just felt cheap, too. it was more about micah being nervous about meeting glimmer again than like. frosta dealing with the fact her parents died. (i don't remember if they explicitly brought it up, but it was probably not that important). she is basically a plot device.
frosta seemed like the child that matured way too early, and that should've been touched upon better. imagine frosta seeing how immature the other princesses are, and calling them out on their bullshit. and i'm not saying that a child should lecture older ppl (i wouldn't call them adults honestly), but frosta wasn't the kind to suddenly throw punches. she seemed more observant and only intervened when things got too ugly (like when adora fought catra in the prom). and of course, i would've liked to see frosta slowly realizing she doesn't have to be the adult, she doesn't have to handle things on her own. kind of like how steven in su was the savior and the voice of reason to everyone, only to slowly unlearn that and prioritize himself.
i'm aware spop is rlly not the deep kind of show (unless you're catra i guess), and it definitely didn't care about the princesses as characters. but frosta had a different thing going on. she had a different personality. probably bc of her ice powers, but also bc of her tragic background. but yeah, as many other fans have said, frosta pretty much became a lame version of toph. which is weird to me. frosta would've been the opposite of toph, given the latter was oppressed and smothered by her parents (especially due to her disability), while the former LOST her parents at a young age. toph rejects her background while frosta seems to stay in her lane to keep everything under control.
i don't know why they did frosta so dirty like this. i think kids could've resonated with her initial personality.

#Solid point #and I think partly because few other characters are playing more than one side #Scorpia is on the Hord side but she is like pretty much Kronk most of the time and has no agenda #easy not to make waves or split opinions #most of the princesses are just themselves to each other in their group of friends #arguably Seahawk splits opinions a bit by dint of His Chaos #but yeah no I think Entrapta is certainly the most varied in her relationships #even Adora doesn't have such the variety of responses that you've shown for Entrapta #it might be one of the reasons the fandom (from my POV) has imprinted so hard on her #as opposed to the other princesses who I see more rarely#her variability makes her multi dimensional and therefore more charming
I actually thought of this post because I was staring at this image from the Fire Princess comic which I reblogged last night.
I was thinking, this hug plays a clear and specific role, but it's hard to feel anything about these characters and their relationships. Specifically, Mermista, Perfuma, and Frosta in this scene. They are here comforting Adora just like Glimmer and Bow are, but what do those 3 princesses really have to do with Adora or with each other? What are their character relationships? Like, Frosta only has a connection to one person - ONE PERSON - in this image, and it's Glimmer. She never has any extensive interactions with Adora outside of her debut episode. And Perfuma doesn't have any real relationship to Glimmer, and I guess she's friends with Frosta? So when I see big group Alliance hugs, I am like.. Okay, that sure is a friendship hug.
Ultimately the presence of the Princess Alliance specifically serves a purpose for characterising Adora and Glimmer (and to a much lesser extent, friendship-oriented Bow). They exist to show their leadership skills, and some areas of weaknesses (when the princesses can't cooperate). And this scene exists to show that Adora's friends still love her even after she messed up.
The show doesn't spend any extra time on Mermista and Perfuma and Frosta. The only time they start to show their own colours are when BFS are either falling apart or absent, but even then it's the bare minimum.
Scorpia and Entrapta exist to challenge Catra, but the way they do so means fundamentally they need to have their own personalities and objectives.
Catra's main challenge is how she disregards the people around her to pursue her own goals, and she finds that if she opens herself up to those around her she faces negative consequences anyway. So for that to happen, her friends need to be constantly at opposition to herself. And for the gravity of Catra's actions to be felt, and for her to feel so bad about it, her friends needed a lot more character.
Therefore Scorpia and Entrapta both have their own character arcs. Not only is it just 2 characters, rather than a whole bunch, but also they relate to Catra in specific ways.
Scorpia is devastatingly loyal, to the extent she allows Catra to walk all over her. Scorpia disregards her own past and wants for the sake of others constantly. I feel that Scorpia is a well rounded character in her own right, but she is self-contained, in that it is her internal dialogue that shapes who she is rather than her character interactions, and she has a couple of important interactions, but the main reason she challenges Catra is because Catra is her exact opposite. Scorpia's friendly nature makes Catra have to deal with her own vulnerability, and the way that Catra lashes out - especially later on - makes Scorpia take the decision to leave and pursue her own story arc instead of following Catra's to its conclusion. The fact that Scorpia is her own person is what leads to Catra's downfall, and that's why it was so necessary to characterise her as such.
Entrapta meanwhile is the traitor, the golden child, who is super friendly to everyone but isn't afraid to put aside allegiances for the sake of furthering science. She has to have a relationship to the Rebellion first so that she can betray them and join the Horde! Entrapta also has feelings of abandonment, which Catra understands too well and during their first meeting is able to exploit. But the thing is, the same qualities that lead Entrapta to working for Catra are what make her end up working closely with Hordak, and becoming actually quite close to him. She's the main reason Scorpia left Catra, and Hordak turned on Prime. And, because she still thinks of the Rebellion as her friends even after they left her behind and they started fighting, Adora and Bow end up risking everything to save her in season 4.
While Scorpia is characterised by her internal thought process, Entrapta is characterised by her relationships to those around her. Of all the characters she serves the most varied purposes, being moved around whenever necessary to challenge someone else, and it's exactly this that makes her wonderful. So, by the time season 5 rolls around, she has allies and enemies in every corner of the war! Entrapta is what happens when you take full advantage of the specific things a character can do well, even if she hasn't got as much emotional depth or character development as her friends Scorpia and Catra. Like Tippen said, she's at the "narrative centre", which means that she lightly touches upon most story points.
And to give even further credit to the Horde, the trio of Lonnie, Kyle, and Rogelio, while absent for most of the story, serve a hard specific purpose of contrasting Catra and challenging her for how she has gone from being at their level, to treating them like cannon fodder. And again, in order for that challenge to be viable, they needed to have their own characterisation and relationships.
Unfortunately the Rebellion kind of sucks, with only Glimmer and Adora receiving consistent focus across the show, while Bow also has a very stealthy, solid character arc, but the rest of the characters on that side could have not been in the show and it wouldn't have changed much at all.
One thing I will say about Entrapta is she has the second-largest pool of specific relationships in the show, after Adora.
Every major character has either got a strong opinion on her, or interacted in a specific way, with the exception of Adora's unique character relationships like Mara, Razz and Light Hope.
For example, Catra and Scorpia see her differently, each Princess has a different relationship to her, Hordak knows who she is unlike 99% of the cast, each member of BFS has completely different interactions with her, Swift Wind loses his mind around her, Micah knows her as a ration thief, fucking Shadow Weaver has opinions of her, and she successfully tilts Horde Prime to the point where he orders his most loyal minion to kill her so she'll shut up. Big mistake.
#a lot of adora's character arc is also served through mara and light hope and shadow weaver and of course catra#so mermista perfuma and frosta are mostly there for the colour pallettes i feel#i also keep forgetting to mention sea hawk which shows how impactful he is#netossa gets a character arc though which is a fun surprise#i enjoy when characters get surprise arcs#but netossa and spinny arent even worth mentioning in the grander scheme of the show#i do think they are great representations of season 5 however.... much better than mermista getting chipped which was Eh#i think i needed more mermista in season 5

In a peacetime modern AU of SPOP where the characters are fans of a show similar to our SPOP, how would they engage in fandom? For example: Who would ship whom? Who would write fic or draw art? Who would write or draw smut?? Who would have a wall of theories with evidence connected by a web of threads? Who would do their own thing shipping a rare pair and who would be a card carrying popular ship shipper? Who would strongly empathise with their parallel character and who would just not get them at all? Would anyone cosplay? Which older adult would shock the young'uns by saying 'Well I wouldn't say no...' as they sip their tea from the doorway? (Obviously answer as much or as little as you like!)
Ooooh! Great ask.
Glimmer declares the show the best thing ever (because it's pink and princessy and kicks ass), and the best friend squad watches it religiously. Adora doesn't really get what the big deal with shipping is supposed to be, but she think it's neat that Netossa and Spinnerella is a couple. Lowkey ships Glimmer with Bow because she likes the idea of childhood friends falling in love with each other. Also, she really likes it when the title character gets a horse. Hangs out a lot in fandom space but doesn't really produce content, at least until Bow and Glimmer manages to talk her into writing down some of her many, many theories of how the show will turn out and just what the logistics network through the whispering woods are supposed to look like. She secretly worries when one of her posts don't get as much attention as the last one.
Bow is just hung up on poor Catra and want for her to get some love. Mostly he cheers on Scorpia, but he would ship Catra with Adora or even Double Trouble in desperation for someone to take the cat away from the hole she spend most of the series in. He takes up sewing and makes a point of cosplaying every single princess. Comments on everyone's fanfic and likes everyone's posts.
Glimmer sees a bit of herself in Catra (because she too knows the pain of having a mother who doesn't understand her). She totally ships the cat-girl with the glitter princess and writes really messed up fanfics about them. So much passion. So much delicious, delicious self-destruction. Practically drools at the end of season 4 and all the angst that goes down there. She regularly asks Bow to beta read and traumatises him badly. Gets into fan-fights on social media about stupid shit. Cosplays Catra on a con and makes out with a Glimmer cosplayer.
Angella vaguely recalls the first show from when she was young and earns some much needed mom-points with Glimmer when she digs up a mint condition original She-Ra+Swift Wind toy from a carefully labelled box in the basement. She ships Glimmer with Bow because she really likes that boy. Micah used to watch the show as a kid and had a bit of a crush on the original She-Ra. Ships Bow with Sea Hawk and cheerfully fills the hashtag #SeaBow with memes at least a decade out of fashion. Mortifies his daughter when he take them to a con and insists on cosplaying as Hordak. Ends up in the bar together with George and Lance and sings karaoke to My Little Pony-songs.
George and Lance don't really get the show but are happy to take the kids to con. Cosplays as characters from old Belgian comics.
Catra thinks the show is silly (and watches every episode passionately. Shut up. Just humouring Scorpia, is all). She thinks the Catra character in the show is a wimp, but ships her with Double Trouble because she likes it when villains get their way. Draws really good fanart. A bit of a troll on social media because its so fun to rile up people like Glimmer.
Scorpia ships Catra and Adora and cries just as much as Bow in the First One's Temple part of season 1. She is completely floored by the large, femme and kinda clumsy Scorpia character hooking up with the beautiful, beautiful Perfuma because... um... Writes really bad but 100% heartfelt self insert fanfics. Draws stick figures of Perfuma and Scorpia holding hands. Reads and re-reads her favourite fanfics until her eyes are red from crying and in the end leaves a shy little "it was good"-comment for the last chapter. Tries to work up the courage to go to a con and talk to other fans. Wants to cosplay but has too bad self esteem.
Entrapta thinks the robots are unscientific for reasons she is happy to write hundreds of blog posts about. Ships Darla with the Velvet Glove (the word 'docking' is used extensively). Considers Hordak a total hottie and draws really - and I mean really - explicit fan art. Spends her first convention on the parking lot trying to fix her Emily cosplay.
Lonnie rage-quits watching the show the moment Adora leaves the Horde but thinks Adora and Mermista should just do it already.
Kyle ships Bow with an OC named Lyle who everyone likes and no one makes fun of. Has written a ten chapter fanfic which no one has commented.
Rogelio ships Tung Lashor with Sea Hawk. His fanart can melt through steel.
Sea Hawk ships EVERYONE with Merm-iiiiiiiiiista. Runs ten different fan-events simultaneously. Mermista just ships Adora with Lonnie or whatever. They do duo-cosplay on cons, much to Mermista's embarrassment.
Perfuma ships Entrapta with Hordak, writes post after post exploring their psychosocial dynamic and is downright gleeful when it becomes canon. Spends the cons friend-momming on the rest of the group and makes sure they are all hydrated.
Frosta thinks shipping is stupid and want to see more of princesses teaming up and beating the shit out of the bad guys with the power of friendship. Also has a really detailed backstory for her OC. Only ask if you have plenty of time. Has a pretty good Glimmer cosplay.
Huntara ships Juliette with Castaspella and writes surprisingly sweet fics about them crushing on each other. Keeps order on social media.
Castaspella ships Shadow Weaver with Angella and writes fanfic that could easily be published as high class erotica. She's a really good commentor on other people's fics, giving tons of support and little constructive hints where she feels it might be well received.
Juliette has better things to do than watching a children's cartoon, but she does enjoy some of Castaspella's stories.
Spinnerella ships Catra and Adora and is just so proud when it turns out to be canon. Tells everyone who wants to listen how little representation was available in her first fandom and how far things have come.
Netossa ships Adora and Mermista and draws really hot fanart of them making out in gym showers and the like. Prefers modern aus and couldn't care less about canon as long as it gives her hot characters to play with.
Shadow Weaver doesn't ship anyone because no one is worthy of the love of Adora who is the only worthwhile character. Writes a 40+ chapter story about a badly out-of-character Adora who takes over the Horde and laughs at her enemies from the throne. Is enraged when people dare having the wrong opinion about things but can't tell them so because she feels social media is beneath her. Secretly reads Castaspella's fanfic.
Horde Prime ships Horde Prime with Shadow Weaver. She is written completely out of character in a rather insulting and sexist way. Completely insufferable on social media and insist on everyone signing up to his headcanon.
Hordak says he doesn't ship anyone because romance is silly. Cries over Adora's redemption arc when he thinks no one watches and ships her with Glimmer because he just wants to the poor, rejected Horde soldier lost in a strange land she doesn't understand to get some love and kindness.
Wrong Hordak ships Scorpia with Perfuma because love finds a way. Draws the purest fluff you'll ever see.
Double Trouble trolls social media at every turn and gleefully ships the most messed up shit they can think of. Shadow Weaver and Perfuma, Catra and Sea Hawk, Angella and Hordak, Horde Prime and Swift Wind... Also ships the characters they deem to have most dramatic potential to derail the story such as Entrapta and Hordak, Glimmer and Catra, Glimmer and Double Trouble... kinda has a low key crush on the sparkly character but denies it if anyone asks. Really good at cosplay and runs a tutorial at the cons.
Swift Wind thinks there are too few horse characters. Ships Swift Wind with Rainbow Dash.
Light Hope only ships canon pairings because by definition canon is the only thing that is valid. Writes long, convoluted predictions that she updates after every episode. She gets an existential crisis when her predictions don't pan out in canon.
Mara ships Adora and Glimmer. Still gets hot and fussy every time she thinks of the s1 hot spring scene. Wants the hardworking perfectionist to get love.
Razz write novel length stories where she ship a character mentioned in passing in an unpublished Dickens novel with her old middle school math teacher. No one has any idea what she is going on about or why she posts it in the she-ra tag, but her stories are good and she's a complete delight at cons, so she's welcome in the fandom.

I'm really struggling and hurting with what's going on in the fandom right now as im losing the only comfort i had in quarantine. could you please write something happy post-s5 catradora based on noelle's statement that once Adora realises she's in love with Catra she'd be SO into the reslationship?
((I get you, Nonners <3 *hugs* Again, white af, so I’m going to limit my comments, but - it isn’t all downhill from here. Try not to give up)) (((Disclaimer it’s almost 4am and my sleeping meds are kicking in, so I’m sorry if this isn’t completely coherent)))
Adora had never half-assed anything in her life.
And she’d be damned if she was going to start now, at a time when being fully on her game was more important than ever.
“I just want to do something for her!”
Bow practically had hearts in his eyes. Glimmer was a little less impressed. “I’m pretty sure if you just stayed in bed and napped together all day, she’d be happy.”
“I know, I know.” Adora sighed. “But that’s not - I want to do something good. Like, really show her that I love her.”
“Take a vacation.”
“Glimmer!”
“What? I’m serious,” Glimmer insisted. “If you just like... took an entire week off to do nothing but spend time with her, she’d probably be speechless. Which I would pay to see, by the way.”
Adora frowned, thinking it over. It was true that Catra would probably be floored by Adora taking a week off, no need for She-Ra or anything, just for her.
“I don’t know. Do you think it’s enough? What should we do? What do people do on vacation?”
“You could just travel?” Bow suggested. “You know, get as far from Bright Moon as you can then call Glimmer for a ride back or something when you’re done.”
It was... actually a good idea, Adora thought. They’d spent their whole lives in the Fright Zone wondering what was beyond the Whispering Woods. They could actually see things now. They could see a world full of magic!
The happy thoughts died almost as quickly as they had started. “I... I dunno. I mean, it sounds great, but that would take more than a week, and-”
“Take a month,” Glimmer encouraged. “Take six months, honestly. You guys saved the universe. If anyone’s earned time off, it’s you.”
“That’s a lot of time.”
“And you’ve earned it,” Bow assured her. “Maybe not six months - I mean, you should take six months but I know that would drive you nuts. But take a month. Go places. Spend time together. I think it’d be good for you guys.”
Adora chewed on her thumbnail for a moment before slowly nodding and smiling. “Yeah. Okay.”
This whole thing had started with Catra not feeling like a priority in Adora’s life, after all. A month together would be the perfect way to show Adora she was invested and she cared. Perfect. * * * * * * * * * * * * Catra didn’t get back to Bright Moon that night. “Your cat passed out on my couch,” Mermista informed Adora flatly, turning the screen so Adora could see Catra curled up in a tight ball, sleeping.
“Is she... okay?”
“She’s dumb. Sea Hawk found her almost sick with heat stroke and had to drag her away from the house she was working on.”
Adora’s heart jumped to her throat. “She’s... She’s really trying hard to help with Salineas.”
“And I appreciate it,” Mermista admitted in a rare moment of genuine honesty. “But I’ll appreciate it less if she kills herself in the process. If she’s going to die, I should at least get the first shot.”
“Glimmer can come get her, if you want.”
“Nah, she already feels like hell. She can sleep it off on the couch.”
Adora scrubbed her eyes, smiling weakly. “Thanks, Mermista. Sorry, I guess I should’ve warned you, she gets really intense when she actually puts effort into things.”
“She’s not someone I would’ve pegged for a workaholic. Want me to wake her up to say... I dunno, good night or whatever you guys say to each other?”
“Nah, let her sleep.” Adora wanted Catra home, wanted to talk to her about a vacation, but she was sleeping, and that was more important than anything. She’d been exhausting herself for nearly a month working on Salineas. And while it was earning her some begrudging tolerant will with Mermista (who firmly believed actions were better than any apology Catra could ever say), Adora was worried. A vacation would really do her some good. * * * * * * * * * * * * Glimmer and Adora went to Salineas the next morning to get Catra. They thought it was reasonable to assume she was still sleeping off the heat stroke at the palace.
“Nope, she took off before I woke up,” Mermista said flatly when they found her. “Sea Hawk tried to find her, but he’s not exactly subtle about it, so she probably had plenty of time to hide.”
“Great.” Adora sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. “I’ll... track her down.”
“Tell her if she’s going to keel over to get out of my kingdom. She can die on Bright Moon’s turf.”
“Tell her not to die,” Glimmer added.
“Yes, and yes.”
Mermista pointed Adora in the direction of where they’d found Catra yesterday. She approached a half built house, quietly climbing up the ladder at the side and finding Catra working on the roofing.
“Seriously?” she asked, resting her arms on the edge of the roof. Catra looked up, surprised.
“What?”
She looked exhausted, her face flushed red. Adora sighed. “Are you coming home any time soon?”
“Yeah, yeah.” She went back to work, distracted. “Sorry, I dunno what happened yesterday.”
“You made yourself sick working in the sun all day.”
“Sea Hawk overreacted.” Catra waved Adora off. “He’s just scared you’d kill him if you found he let me overwork myself.”
“Sooooo you’re admitting it?”
“No, that’s just his logic.”
Adora shook her head. “Come on, take the day off and come home. I wanna talk to you about something.”
“I really need to finish this.”
There was a weird moment where Adora thought she understood how Catra had felt for years. Catra had been working nonstop on Salineas for a month, and Adora was starting to feel a little ignored.
But she also understood Catra’s side. She took a deep breath, hauling herself up onto the roof and crawling over to Catra, gently putting her hand on Catra’s and stopping the hammer. “Hey. I get it, okay? But you’re not responsible for fixing all of Salineas.”
“Actually, I kind of am,” Catra replied bitterly. She was far too warm for it to be comfortable.
“I’m pretty sure Hordak could stand to take a little more responsibility than he has.” Adora couldn’t help but be a bit bitter about that. He had mostly stayed in Dryl, working with Entrapta on tech that would help with the rebuilding process. And that was great and all, but it wasn’t much compared to Catra being out here every day working herself half to death.
Catra let out a long sigh, finally relaxing her hand. “I just... need to do this, Adora. Okay?”
“I get that, but you don’t need to do it at the expense of your own health. And yes, I know I’m a hypocrite. But I’m worried about you.”
“I’m fine.”
“No, you’re not.” Adora squeezed her hand. “And that’s okay. Have you eaten anything?”
“No.” The honesty was nice.
“Did you skip eating because you felt sick?” Catra nodded. “Okay. So... you can leave with me, or Mermista can wash you out to sea so you don’t die in her kingdom.”
Catra looked around, and sighed, finally nodding. “Okay. Let’s go.”
Getting her back to solid ground was a bit dicey, but she held herself up and managed to walk back to the palace without much help.
“She lives,” Mermista said dryly when they arrived back at the palace. Glimmer smiled, although she couldn’t hide her worry.
“You okay?”
“Yeah, I’m fine, I’m fine.” Catra smothered a yawn, scrubbing her eyes.
“Picture of health all right,” Mermista deadpanned. “Look, you built like, an entire neighborhood on your own. Come back when you’re not burning up.”
Glimmer rested a hand on Catra’s shoulder, wincing when she felt the heat radiating off of her. Adora took a moment to whisper, “Thank you for taking care of her,” to Mermista. The princess shrugged.
“Yeah, you know. Whatever.”
Catra was not happy with the teleport back to Bright Moon. Glimmer put them close enough to the bed so she could drop straight onto it, groaning. Good luck, the queen mouthed before disappearing. Adora went to the bathroom, wet a washcloth with cold water, and returned to the bed, resting the cloth on the back of Catra’s neck. She shivered.
“Cold.”
“Yes, because you’re burning hot.” Adora settled in next to her. “So, I had an idea, and I already know you’re going to argue with it, but hear me out.” Catra hummed in affirmation. “I was thinking we should take some time off. You and me. I was thinking traveling, but now I’m thinking maybe go visit Frosta and spend a week in the snow.”
“Oh hell no,” Catra muttered. “I am not going anywhere with snow. That’s where I draw the line.”
“But you’re agreeing to the vacation?”
“I dunno.” Catra raised her head. “When? Can it wait until Salineas is-”
“No.” Adora gently clasped Catra’s face in her hands. “I know this is hard for you, but you can’t hurt yourself trying to fix things. That won’t accomplish anything, and nobody wants to see you hurting, not even Mermista.”
Catra looked ready to argue, but something in her expression flickered. “You’re willing to take time off just to do nothing?”
“Not nothing. To spend time with you. We can hold each other accountable. You keep me strapped down, and I’ll lie on top of you to make sure you don’t run off to Salineas.”
Tears slowly filled Catra’s eyes, and Adora panicked for a moment before Catra spoke. “You’d... really take time off to spend time with me?”
“Of course.” Adora kissed her gently. “I love you, Catra. And I know we’ve been through a lot and done a lot that doesn’t really... support that, and I want to prove it now. And I want to take care of you.”
The moment of silence between them was comfortable. The same silence they could have spent hours in at one point in their lives. “I love you too,” Catra finally murmured. “Maybe taking some off to spend together wouldn’t be so bad. If only to see you try and relax.”
“Ha. Ha.” Adora grabbed the washcloth and began gently wiping Catra’s face. “Glimmer gave us a month, but I’m pretty sure she’ll be happy if we want to take more. Let’s start with getting you better, then we can figure out what we want to do from there. Okay?”
“Yeah.” Catra snuggled into Adora’s chest, taking a deep breath. “That sounds good.”
It had worked. Adora couldn’t believe it. “So uh... I’m doing this relationship thing pretty good, huh?”
Catra snorted, reaching up to push her face away. “Get over yourself.”

I feel like I need to bring up how versatile Adora is as a main character. So often in stories, the main character is bland, featureless, and boring. Of course, this is usually done to make them relatable to as wide an audience as possible. The story happens around them, the more interesting side characters bounce their personalities off them, but they rarely feel interesting in their own right or experience real growth.
Adora completely avoids falling into this in a variety of ways. She can be strong and noble, but also scared and vulnerable. She can be funny and silly, but also self assured and in control. She can be romantic and caring, but also cold and reserved.
And in that range, she is able to exhibit tremendous growth and a variety of different relationships. Her relationship to every other character changes from their first meeting to their last, whether through Adora gaining a better understanding of them, confronting her own biased feelings (like with Frosta and Scorpia in their own ways), or learning something she didn't have real experience with in the Horde. This means that every relationship changes Adora fundamentally, throughout the show, in a way that she has agency over. It's not just happening to/around her, she actually has to make the active choice to change.
And this is truly exemplified in her complicated relationships with Catra, Shadow Weaver, and Hordak. With Catra, she has to choose to be little more selfish, to choose to want something, to choose to forgive her for what she has done. With Shadow Weaver, she has to choose to stand up to her, to air her grievances directly, to face her trauma and abuse in its face. With Hordak, she has to choose to see a better option than just killing him, to find a way to potentially rehab him in a world where he isn't chasing Prime's approval or fearing his control.
I was originally planning on making this a much shorter post and doing the "in this essay i will" joke but then i just wrote the essay. I just love Adora a lot and the fact that she is so layered, fallible, and interesting makes her infinitely more relatable than hundreds of other blank slate protags. In summation, this is an Adora stan blog and will be forever thanks goodbye.

Ok, so I’ve decided to write down some post-season5 headcanons, after Hordak’s redemption has started, the whole Beast island thing has lessened down to like a monthly week-long visit or smth, and therapy is in session. This is sorta a few characters’ overall reaction to the horde clones, now that they’re going to therapy (some aren’t, it’s a choice), settling all over Etheria and are just general leading how to Person.
Adora-
I like to think, what if, through some Entrapta experiment or light hope glitch or realisation or smth, Adora and Hordak realized that, had circumstances been different, Hordak would p. much be Adora’s dad. After this (and this is some time after the BF squad have gotten used to him), they decide to test out whether they could still be friends or smth by going on a road trip across Etheria. (I headcanon visiting new kingdoms)
Bow-
He’s....sorta awkward about the whole thing. While he understands the circumstances, he’s just not ready to completely forgive and forget that easy, though he tries to be nice
Glimmer-
She’s conflicted. While she definitely hasn’t like..forgiven Hordak, she does understand how bad thing were with the intergalactic Horde
Catra-
She was chipped, but refuses to acknowledge it. Only talks to glimmer and Adora (sometimes) about it, on the rare occasion where glimmer confronted her. As such, she keeps her distance from all the clones, Hordak included.
Mermista-
She was chipped. Feels bad for the clones, but keeps her distance. Tried not to acknowledge the time she was chipped from a personal perspective. Not too fond of Hordak
Micah-
He was chipped. Won’t talk about it unless asked, very uncomfortable w the whole thing, but all in all he does feel for the clones and is nice to them whenever he interacts with them. Averse to Hordak, but when they interact, he’s stiff, hasn’t entirely forgiven him, but still doesn’t go Hordak hate-squad.
Scorpia-
Was chipped. Even if she wasn’t, her feelings about the horde clones would be the same-she’s fond of all of them, is always really nice to them all. Pretty awkward and “Yes boss!-I mean sir-I mean-“ with Hordak, but overall is ok, and definitely wants to give him a second chance
Spinnerella-
She was chipped. I feel as though this would give her empathy towards them. She understands why things happened, and is bitter about the war, but gives Hordak a second chance, and eventually becomes pretty close to a bunch of them. She get’s protective when people are mean to them and basically becomes a sorta big sister/mom. (Also, if ur upset she’d be so ok with everything and put the war behind her, let me remind you I don’t think the war much affected her or netossa’s kingdoms, or them personally [unntil it did get personal but that was Horde Prime’s fault])
Frosta-
The war killed her parents and she is not getting near anything that looks like Hordak, not anytime soon anyway.
Hope you liked my thoughts! :D

Next Generation - Part 1
These are the fankids that make up the first group from my last post, the ones who go to space and all that.
Catradora: Ariella "Ari"
Ari means lion in a language I believe, it's been a while tho so I can't really remember but that's what her name means
She's the eldest Catradora kitten, with a reference age of 21, and her birthday is June 5th
She is a magicat, with both eyes a grey-blue colour, light brown fur, and blonde hair. Her ears are a darker brown with blonde tuffs, and her tail is the same shade as her fur. She also has freckles
She's just like really short, she's barely Glimmer's height it's really funny
She keeps her hair cut short on the left side, and longer on the right, but only just long enough that when wet, the tips almost reach her shoulder. She rarely brushes it, leaving it a mess
She does not wear sleeves. Never has, never will. Same with shoes, those are a no-go. She mostly sticks to dark clothing, with blacks, greys, reds, and blues
She just really loves women but her love language is heavy banter and playful insults so she just comes across as a snarky little kitty
A big goofy softy, favourite babysitter was Bow, likes it when her friends and family are happy
Glimbow - Lunara "Luna"
Okay so Luna is moon in a language (I am bad at this) and Glimmer's runestone is the moon stone so bam moon daughter
Glimmer and Bow's oldest and only daughter, reference age is 22, birthday is March 11th
She's not quite as dark as Bow, and has Glimmer's eye shape with Bow's dark colour. Her hair is dark brown with dark purple untertones or at least it's purple on the bottom and it's like super fluffy and naturally curly and rests just above shoulder height
She's only like an inch shorter than Bow and will brag about it at any moment
She wears a mix of fluffy sweaters and crop tops, like she'll wear a light crop top with a knit cardigan over it or something with dark 3/4 pants and high top sneakers. Her colour pallet typically includes pinks, gold, white, and red
She's connected to the moon runestone, and has some sort of night magic. Its more powerful at night, and she uses bursts of stars and pure light
Luna really just wants to learn everything there is to know, but is really stubborn about it. She gets super frustrated about people knowing something she doesn't so she just has to know everything so that can't happen
Frosta was her favourite babysitter, and she just likes being treated like an adult. Also bisexual
Spinnetossa - Kalani
I'm pretty sure this is a wind name?? Maybe? I should have written down these meanings damn
Kalani is Spinnerella and Netossa's second kid and oldest daughter, with a reference age of 21, and her birthday is September 3rd
She basically looks like Netossa, but taller, with longer, bluer, curlier hair. She wears it back in a bushy ponytail most of the time, cause it's very hard to handle
She wears flowy clothes! Big shirts, big pants, skirts, dresses, jackets, as long as it flows she'll wear it! She has a few metallic bracelets and likes to wear tall strappy boots
She wears a mix of blacks, dark blues, purples, and indigo
She has like air powers, she can manifest air into things like stairs, walkways, shields, swords etc
She just kinda vibes and goes with the flow, but she will take every opportunity to cause a little mischief. Favourite babysitter was Mermista
Gives everyone a little nickname, and is heavy on the compliments. She's a smooth lesbian, yes they exist
Scorfuma - Sunburst + Blazing Star "Star"
So both of these names are desert flowers, get it? Flowers and desert? I'm clever
So Sunburst and Star are twins, with Sunburst being the older twin. They are Perfuma and Scorpia's oldest children, their reference age is 20 and their birthday is June 18th
They are identical twins. Both have Perfuma's tan skin but only light freckles, Scorpia's eyes, ashy blonde hair, and both have scorpion tails and stingers. Both are around Scorpia's height, with Star being just shorter
Sunburst's hair is fluffier and she keeps it at shoulder length. Star's is a little rougher, the same length, but she has it styled to look messy
Sunburst wears soft clothing with lighter colours, all paired with a large, dark red overcoat and dark boots. Star likes darker clothes with flaired elbows and shoulders, with harsh geometric patterns. Both wear greens, reds, and blacks
Both Sunburst and Star have some control over plants, although Sunburst uses it more
Sunburst looks and acts like a total sweetheart but do not be fooled she will fight you at the drop of a hat. She will defend her friends with her life, and her favourite babysitter was Adora
Star is all confidence and swagger, and feels at home in leadership positions. She's loud, excitable, and just loves everyone so much oh god she's tearing up. Adora was also her favourite
-
So here's the first batch of kids, what do y'all think?

8, 40, 48 and 78 for Scorfuma kids, please? :D sorry if it's too much tho :( (I love your oc's they're so cute 😔💖)
@leiazh Awww, thank you for loving my characters so much, that you do makes me so happy 😢💖
And it’s fine, always feel free to ask as many questions about them as you want, I had a lot of fun answering this one, so thank you! Just... be warned that the answer might take a while and also possibly be... really long 😅🤣
This whole thing is about 4.2k words long... whoops.
I answered the questions in order, the kids are sorted from oldest to youngest for each question (except for the twins who are the same age, nobody really knows who‘s older since they were born via c-section and their parents either didn’t ask or at least didn’t tell them [the kids don’t know which one of these is true], although Kohana does insist she’s the older twin).
I also didn’t include Frosta as a character in the ask for this one despite her being the oldest Scorfuma-kid, since she’s not my character and most of these questions wouldn’t have made much sense to answer for her anyway, since they get answered in the show, so it’s just the five kids that are actually my own characters.
Frosta does show up in some of the answers, though, obviously, along with Scorpia and Perfuma.
Also, please don’t take the way I sorted the “good” and “bad” traits too seriously – some of these would definitely be considered good or bad by most people, but other things like shyness aren’t really good or bad, they just can make your life more difficult in certain situations (which I say as a shy person) and I had to sort them into one of the categories somehow so I could include them at all.
I hope you have fun reading!
8. What are their good and bad traits?
Clover
Good traits
He tries to help his moms any way he can, both around the house and in the garden, and will do so without being asked to do it. He’s a very caring older brother that will gladly get up in the middle of the night if one of his younger siblings is upset and needs him, and he’ll also stay up late and read them to sleep when their moms are preoccupied. He’s really good at cooking and often does it for the whole family, and he’s also very creative and makes really beautiful flower arrangements. He rarely has any trouble focusing on what’s important, and he’s very enthusiastic about the things he loves, so much that it’s infectious.
Bad traits
He has trouble dealing with some of his insecurities and will lash out at others when he doesn’t know how else to handle them. He also worried about being a bother to other people when he’s upset and will often keep quiet about what’s making him sad or angry or scared rather than opening up about his emotions. He often comes off as cold to people that don’t know him very well because of this.
He also has a bit of an attitude around people he doesn’t like.
Thorn
Good traits
She always tries to take care of her friends and family and, if possible, keep them out of trouble, and she’d never say no if someone needs her help. For most people, it’s really hard to dislike her because she’s always friendly and polite and cares a lot about others, always tries to give the best advice she can and brings fresh food from the family garden everywhere. She’s really outgoing and has a relatively large friend group because of that.
Bad traits
She’s kind of naive, to a point where her desire to help others lands her in trouble every now and again because she ends up being exploited in one way or another – she doesn’t have a very good judge of character, and because of this, she has “friends” that just befriend her because she’s the crown princess, and she’s so excited to be making new friends that she doesn’t question their intentions very often, especially when she’s still a child.
It’s especially bad with a person she meets when she’s about ten, who she likes a lot, but who her parents are always kind of wary around – whenever that particular kid shows up around their house, things start disappearing, especially Thorn’s favorite toys. They eventually ask her about it, and she just says that her friend liked them so much that she gave them to the other kid, but the way she says it makes it pretty clear that she’s actually really unhappy about it and really misses her toys.
She’s actually kind of like Adora to a certain degree – she doesn’t take her own happiness into account that much and rather makes sure everyone else is happy first... but her family and her real friends always have her back and make sure she’s also having fun and feeling happy. Messing with her is not a very good idea, and if only for the relatively large Thorn-protect-squad.
Willow
Good traits
They’re really smart and pretty patient when it comes to learning new things, and they like trying out stuff they’ve never done before.
When it comes to their friends and loved ones, they show affection openly and often and even get pretty bubbly despite usually being so shy.
They’re also a really good listener and don’t back down when it comes to speaking up against someone who’s being mean to other people – they’re also extremely loyal. Their friend group isn’t huge, but if they befriend someone and that person makes them happy, they’ll go to the ends of the world for them, are extremely supportive of their goals and help them achieve them if they can.
Bad traits
They’re a... bit forgetful when it comes to certain stuff – especially things like watering plants, but also where they last put their things – including the tracker pad that’s literally in their hands when they start looking for it. They probably have the tidiest room in the entire house, and they still never freaking find anything.
They’re also really shy, so they don’t make friends very easily, and they also take criticism very personal despite not openly showing it a lot of times because they’re too embarrassed to – when someone tells them they think Willow is annoying or weird, they’re just going to keep quiet about it and then crawl into bed to cry when they get back home. They’re confident when it comes to protecting others, but they’re also really insecure when it comes to being criticized themselves.
If they’re genuinely hurt by someone, they can’t just laugh it off two days later... they take a long time to forgive others, especially if it’s people that know what they’re insecure about and still push their buttons anyway.
Aster
Good traits
He cares a lot about his family, and always knows how to cheer his siblings and especially his twin up when they’re upset. He’s also not afraid to make mistakes and doesn’t get very nervous about giving a wrong answer when he’s asked things because for him, wrong answers only mean that you learn new things you didn’t know before. If he’s good at something that his friends can’t do, he often offers to teach them and would never brag about it. He’s also really good at playing the drums.
Bad traits
He’s extremely chaotic and can also get pretty loud. He also likes fighting – sometimes it’s just friendly wrestling with his sister, and that’s fine, but they might end up breaking some stuff when they wrestle, and after he connects to the Heart Blossom, he often underestimates his powers or uses them accidentally, which results in both huge chaos and often at least smaller injuries. After he learns to control his powers better, the number of injuries decreases, but the chaos remains, especially when he and Kohana start deliberate making their powers a part of their friendly but heated competitions. They once tore half of Catradora’s living room apart on semi-accident – Finn was very excited. He’s also not good at listening when people tell him what to do – his parents sometimes get through to him, and Frosta often does, but most people out of his family don’t.
Kohana
Good traits
She’s open-minded, more likely to listen to others than her brother is, and she has a pretty healthy sense of humor. She’s also the best fighter out of all the kids – she’s been taking lessons from Frosta, Lonnie and Catra respectively since she was about ten. She’s courageous and creative and if she’s certain someone’s apology is sincere, she’s pretty forgiving, even to people who have hurt her in the past and maybe don’t deserve it. She’s also trustworthy – if you tell her a secret, she’s going to take it to her grave. She also always takes her time to pick out heartfelt birthday gifts for the people she loves because while she’s not that good with words, she still likes finding ways to make their day.
Bad traits
She’s really, really impatient and gets bored and frustrated easily – if she doesn’t manage to succeed at something during the first or at least second attempt, she just gives up frustratedly and goes on to punch something to let out her frustration. She also gets jealous really easily, especially if people learn the things she can’t do really quickly.
Like her twin brother, she’s really into fighting for fun, and she also doesn’t really learn how to pick her fights for a while. Since she’s connected to the Black Garnet rather than the Heart Blossom, she also causes destruction way more easily than Aster does. She’s also more scary than her brother if she wants to be – think chipped-Scorpia level scary.
40. If I wanted to draw them, what would be distinct physical features that I would have to know to draw them correctly?
Clover
He has yellow skin, short teal hair that’s a bit curly, pink eyes, cyan wings – the left one is torn slightly at about 3/4 of the wing which is why that one is harder to move for him – and regular elven ears that are his skin color yellow outside and a darker yellow inside.
He’s the shortest Scorfuma-child except for Frosta, about one head shorter than Willow.
Also technically not a physical feature, but he rarely ever wears formfitting clothes.
Thorn
I posted a princess maker pic of her a while back (along with pics of some of my other next gen kids), but most distinctive physical features would be: Short curly white hair (about chin-length) with flowers in it, a red scorpion tail – which is actually her only Scorpioni-trait –, dark brown eyes and Perfuma’s skin-tone.
As an adult, she’s actually the second tallest of the kids, about as tall as Scorpia.
She’s the one that’s based off of Rae’s Scorfuma-child.
Willow
I also posted a princess maker pic of them when I made their bullet point list, but most distinctive physical features would be:
They have dark skin and dark brown eyes, freckles, curly black hair that almost reaches their shoulders, and their Scorpioni parts are black rather than red like Scorpia’s. They’re kind of short as a kid, but pretty tall as an adult – not quite as tall as Scorpia, but almost that tall, and also at least somewhat buff.
Also, I know this isn’t a physical feature, but they always walk around with that little flower trinket in their chest – Sagi has a similar one. He found it in a box when he was little and when Willow saw him with it, they promptly decided they wanted the same one, so their parents got them the same one. Neither Willow nor Sagi take them off very often, they actually still wear them well into adulthood.
Aster
He has freckles, dark brown eyes and extremely short white hair which you can see would probably be a lot more curly should he choose to grow it out. His skin-tone is somewhere in between Scorpia’s and Perfuma’s. He also has some red Scorpioni-features – the shoulders, the tail and the waist-parts.
He’s shorter than his twin sister Kohana for most of their childhood, but eventually outgrows her by about five inches when they‘re in their teens.
He’s also the only one of the kids that actually ends up being taller than Scorpia when he’s fully grown.
Kohana
She has dark brown eyes, Scorpia’s skin-tone and freckles, also long straight blond hair that she usually grows out to about waist-length and then wears in really any kind of plait, but most often a ponytail, but she cuts it off almost completely on a couple of different occasions throughout her life, mostly because it sometimes if it gets in her way or on her nerves all of a sudden.
She has pincers, as well as the knee and waist-Scorpioni-features.
She also has her ears pierced and likes wearing different kinds of colorful earrings from a pretty early age on, often even mismatching ones.
She’s relatively tall, give or take about as tall as Willow, maybe slightly taller, which makes her almost as tall as Scorpia.
And, again not a physical feature, but she also has either flowers or grass or both either on her clothes or in her hair at all possible times, varying from stuff like flower crowns and actual jewelry to just a grassy reminder on her shirt that she had another wrestling match with Aster in the garden.
48. What does their room look like?
Clover
His room is pretty tidy for the most part.
He has shelves filled with astronomy, gardening and cooking books that his siblings often lend and that are then never returned to him again – except for the cooking books because he’s made it very clear that he can’t cook as well as he usually does without them when too many of them disappeared that one time.
He also has a bunch of different CDs because he’s really into music – he can’t play any, but he really likes listening to it –, and he also has a couple really terrible old movies that he likes to make fun of with his parents and siblings, especially if one of them is having a bad day, as well as some children’s books that he often read to Willow and the twins when they were little and then kept because of the good memories.
He has a photo album where he keeps pictures of all his loved ones that he always keeps somewhere close to his bed, and an old baby blanket that he brought from the orphanage, which was the only memento he actually wanted to keep when it became clear that Scorpia and Perfuma would stay his moms for the rest of his life.
Thorn
Her room is very flowery, different potted plants standing on most of her wooden furniture as well as embroidered flowers on her white curtains.
The room is kind of tidy, but there’s a lot of notebooks and pens scattered all over it – she started keeping a diary pretty much since she first learned how to write, and she keeps all of them so she can look at her memories whenever she wants. When she’s a teen, she also picks up a habit of writing – sometimes stories, but more often, poems, which she keeps locked up in a treasure chest because she’s too shy to show them to anyone.
There’s a bunch of different genre novels on her shelf – she’s mostly into RomComs, stories about friendship and horror –, she also has a bright pink meditation mat that’s always lying on the floor in front of her bed for when she needs to relax, along with a tea set that her parents gifted her.
She also has a secret stash of sweets to make herself feel better whenever she’s upset that she keeps in a jewelry case with a false bottom in a drawer in her bedside table.
Willow
They have a bunch of cacti in their room, because they’re the only plant that Willow can actually have that they don’t accidentally end up killing after, like, a week of constantly forgetting to water them. Most of them are on their window sill. Their room is probably the tidiest in the entire house, including their parents’ bedroom. They have a calendar over their bed, a bunch of fluffy pillows and a mint-green blanket on their relatively large bed. They’re also the one that got to keep Scorpia’s little scorpion plushie – Frosta had it for a while after she was adopted, then Thorn until Scorpia and Perfuma adopted Clover, and then Willow got it. The twins each got their own separate plushie, so Willow ended up keeping this one, and it’s been sitting on top of their science book shelf since they turned twelve.
There’s a fluffy colorful carpet on the floor, and some equally colorful curtains to fit the picture, and a really bright nightlight on their bedside table that they‘re allowed to leave on day an night if they want to.
Willow also always has their swim gear somewhere in reach, which is probably the only thing in the room that they never end up searching for.
There’s also a bunch of different photos all around their room – family photos, and of their friends, mostly photos of Willow and Sagi and also some of them with Angie.
Aster and Kohana
They share a room for most of their childhood, so I’m going to do them together.
The fact that they share a room is mostly because it was just easier that way when they were little – they were offered to get separate rooms when they grew older, but they didn’t want to, and only actually end up getting separate rooms when they’re around fifteen years old.
These two are chaos incarnate, and so is their room. There’s books and toys all over the place, but despite that, both of them always know where everything is, surprisingly – and if one of them asks the other to hand them something, the other does it immediately without ever searching before. Their parents sometimes joke about how that’s their real magic skill rather than their connection to the Runestones.
There’s also a sword somewhere amidst the chaos that’s hopefully but probably not a toy that Frosta got them for one of their birthdays, as well as Aster’s ice skates and aways at least one canvas that Kohana starts painting on and then gives up on at least three times a week until she’s eventually satisfied and it gets hung up on the wall in the hallway or the dining room. Because of this, there’s also tons of art supplies scattered everywhere, and a huge red stain on the otherwise light brown carpet where she accidentally knocked over a cup of paint, tried to clean it up and just made everything worse. They sometimes joke about how someone that got on their nerves was murdered there.
There’s also a bunch of pictures on their wall.
They’re often just standing in the middle of their mess, painting and drumming, respectively.
78. If they had a nightmare, who would they run to?
Honestly, that really depends on who’s around in the scenario with most of them, but I’m just going to go with “if they could pick literally anyone”.
Clover
Perfuma, that’s not even a question. He’s thirteen when he’s adopted, so it’s not the kind of “mommy there’s a monster under my bed”-nightmares, but he does have some bad dreams about more serious topics – he doesn’t remember much about his biological parents, but sometimes he hears shouting at the back of his mind when he closes his eyes and wonders if it’s them, and sometimes he has dreams about being back at the orphanage with that one kid that bullied him.
He then knocks at his mothers’ bedroom door softly, enters and wakes Perfuma – she told him very early on that she doesn’t care how late it is, he’s always allowed to wake her or Scorpia if he needs them –, and when he wakes her up, the first time she does is leave the room with him to talk to him alone for a moment. She always asks if he wants her to wake up her other mom as well, and sometimes he does because sometimes the only thing he needs is to cuddle with his moms on the couch in peace until he calms down...
But especially shortly after the adoption, he don’t want to feel like a burden to his new adoptive parents, and it’s worse enough that he’s annoying one of them – he’s pretty afraid they’re just going to decide they don’t want him after all if he turns out to be too difficult of a child, because he has friends and acquaintances that were adopted and eventually cane back to the orphanage because the adoption didn’t work out –, and despite Scorpia being the softest, friendliest person he has ever met, he’s also kind of intimidated by her at first because she’s so tall and buff and he is a really short forest elf, which is why it’s a little easier for him to talk to just Perfuma about his nightmares at first. ...and he also gets a little overwhelmed with multiple people questioning why he’s feeling bad sometimes, even if they mean well, so sometimes one person works better for him.
Scorpia sometimes feels insecure about this, but really, she just wants her kid to be happy, and if her wife can help him more than she can, that’s fine, and she’s obviously not going to blame him for it or make him feel bad about it.
Perfuma always makes him tea if he wants one, and then they’ll just cuddle under a blanket on the couch, and if he wants to talk, she’s going to let him talk, but she’s also not going to force him to speak to her about things he’s not ready to talk about. Sometimes, she tells him stories from her childhood to show him he isn’t alone with at least some of his fears, but of course only if he wants her to. Sometimes she’ll just take him outside into the garden so he can get some fresh air and lay down in the grass to look up into the sky and at the stars – he’s really into astronomy, and if he can’t talk about what’s bothering him, telling her stories about different constellations always calms him down and makes him feel better, so she will gladly listen to that for several hours if that’s what he needs.
...that, and also sometimes he just needs to hear that mom will kick someone’s ass with flowers if they bother him again.
Clover and Perfuma grow really close pretty quickly if you couldn’t tell.
Thorn
When Thorn has a nightmares, she usually just wakes both of her moms when she’s little – this changes a bit as she grows older and realizes there’s different kinds of help she needs depending on how upset she is and what kind of nightmare she had. Sometimes meditating with Perfuma helps her calm down and feel better, sometimes she just need Scorpia’s hugs and some hot cocoa – but honestly, this can be applied to most situations when she’s upset, not necessarily just nightmares.
Sometimes, also just she really needs someone to talk to, and, depending on the topic, it’s easier to just talk to one of them instead of both because she knows which one of her moms will understand her fears better, but sometimes she also just needs both of them.
She rarely ever goes back to her own bed after a nightmare and instead just climbs into bed with her parents.
Sometimes, when they stay over at Bright Moon, she also goes to cuddle with Arrow when she’s scared because Arrow glows and that calms her down – and also, Arrow will absolutely stage a kitchen robbery for some sweets in the middle of the night just to cheer her up.
Willow
They connect with Scorpia very well very quickly, so usually it’s Scorpia that they run to after a nightmare for some late-night cuddling and the best, most beautiful singing in the world to put them back to sleep.
Willow rarely ever has any nightmares that they can put into words – they wake up terrified and shaking, but without an actual memory of what they’re so afraid of, so there’s usually not a lot of talking involved. Scorpia usually makes them some tea, then sings to them and leaves the lights on when her child falls back asleep so that they’re not as scared anymore when they wake up again. After particularly bad nightmares when Willow doesn’t want to sleep again at all, Scorpia usually just puts on a movie or two until eventually, their tiredness catches up to them and then Scorpia sleeps on the couch with her kid sleeping on her chest.
They also often wake up Thorn who allows them to sleep in her bed and then reads to Willow until they fall asleep. When it’s especially bad, she hands out some of her precious emergency candy to make them feel better.
Aster and Kohana
Since Aster and Kohana share a room, the first person they usually wake is each other – sometimes deliberately, and sometimes accidentally, either by waking up screaming or by turning on the light.
After that, who they run to depends which one of them had the nightmare – if possible, they both like to wake Frosta who will definitely beat up any possible monster under their beds.
Other than that, Aster usually wakes Clover who takes their minds off things by either going downstate with them for a midnight snack that they prepare together, or by reading funny stories to them where the hero always wins and defeats the bad guys – he then convinces them that the stories about the good guys winning are way too scary for any possible monsters in their room and that they’ve long fled by the time the story ends, but also offers to read another one, then another and another of they’re not completely convinced. This goes on until they fall asleep, and sometimes Clover doesn’t even make it back to bed and just falls asleep in a chair in between their beds while he’s reading.
Kohana on the other hand usually wakes Scorpia, especially after she’s learned to control her magic more, so her mom can help her practice her magic outside to take her mind off things and help her feel stronger. Aster often joins in on the training as well, and then they end up being so exhausted that not only do they fall back asleep when Scorpia puts them back to bed afterwards and sings them to sleep, but they also sleep in in the morning – which rarely ever happens to any of the kids, but especially not to those two with their seemingly endless amount of energy.

1/? I honestly wonder how cruel Hordak's Horde really was/is. I do not in any way want to deny that they most likely have committed plenty of war crimes and inflicted lots of unnecessary violence, however some things always stood out to me, making me wonder if the Horde was really just plain evil. - First of all there is Scorpia. The Horde undeniably took over her kingdom with at least a considerable amount of force as shown in the short flashback shot.
Okay. Okay, I really hope I got those in the right order. I think you numbered the last two “9″ by accident, but I think I still got it!
First, the obligatory disclaimer: yes, the Horde is evil and tried to conquer Etheria and people’s homes were destroyed and blah blah blah we get it. This is not a “the Horde did nothing wrong” post. There; it’s out of the way.
All right. Here we go!
The Horde as a Place of Acceptance + Weird Etherian Power Imbalances
I think one of the most interesting questions that we still don’t have a real answer for is exactly what you wonder: why did people originally join the Horde? If the Princess-ruled kingdoms are so free and wonderful, why did a bunch of people turn their backs on their kinsmen and follow an angry, bat-faced man from outer space?
The sort-of answer we get for this is first given through Adora’s eyes: there were lies and propaganda that essentially tricked her and the other kids into dedicating their lives to the Horde. This answer, however, doesn’t really work beyond the kids that we see. It doesn’t work for the countless adults in the Horde who, like Huntara, likely figured out what the Horde was actually doing but stayed anyway. It also sort of stops working as the show goes on, and characters like Lonnie and Friends get out into the field. I would assume that they’re conquering villages just like everyone else, and despite seeing that it’s civilians they’re terrorizing, they’re still proud and willing in their work.
So why? Why are they still okay with it? Why were the original Horde recruits okay with it? What in the world compels so many people to attack the cities and villages that their ancestors very likely came from?
I’m not sure we’ll get an answer to this. I don’t think it’s really the focus of the show, y’know? But that doesn’t mean that we can’t speculate!
My take on it? I would bet that, despite the rosy picture of Etherian life we are presented, there were plenty of people who weren’t pleased with how the Princesses ran things. Perhaps they didn’t like the idea of inherited power. Perhaps they objected to obeying someone just because they were born with fancy magical powers. Perhaps they were of different races, such as the reptilian people we see, and were thought of as inferior to the more human denizens of the planet.
There certainly is an odd sort of power imbalance between different groups of Etherians. Humans rule over numerous other species, such as the goat/deer people. All Princesses appear to be human. Angella and co. in Bright Moon have excellent defenses and are able to access fairly advanced technology while we see other Etherians living in villages with markedly lower tech and, as you’ve noted, essentially no defenses. There seems to be a significant divide between Etherians, depending on who they are, in terms of technology and infrastructure. For example: the people of Thaymor looked happy and carefree, but they had zero defense against the Horde. If they were under Bright Moon’s protection, then why did they have literally nothing to save them? Why did they have such primitive infrastructure, no tech, and no military readiness? There’s a whole-ass war going on, and they’re in happy-festival mode with no defensive protocol, no protection at all.
It’s possible that various people recognized the imbalance inherent to Princesses ruling things and decided Hordak’s military meritocracy was a better plan. It was more authoritarian, but everyone was looked after and provided for as long as they pulled their weight. And anyone could rise in rank through hard work alone, inherited magic or no.
Was the Horde Legit that Bad for Everyone?
An interesting thing to consider is how we, the audience, are introduced to life in the Horde, and whether or not that viewpoint is accurate to the whole Horde. We are introduced via Adora. We continue seeing Horde life through Catra. Very rarely do we see Horde life through anyone else’s eyes until later in the series, when we get some moments with Scorpia and Lonnie and Friends.
The Horde as presented by Adora and Catra is an awful place: lies, backstabbing, propaganda, manipulation, Shadow Weaver. Even moments of levity in their youth are tainted by the terrible reality of what happened to them.
It’s only when we follow other characters that we get to see the Horde as less of a deceiving, manipulative cesspool and more as a pretty standard military operation. Scorpia and Lonnie and Friends were also raised in the Horde, but they don’t seem nearly as damaged by the ordeal and Adora and Catra. Mind you, that’s not to say that they’re entirely healthy, well-adjusted people. Scorpia, at the very least, obviously has some issues, but they’re not nearly as bad as what Adora and Catra have to contend with. In addition, these other characters appear to have a much more positive view of Horde values: they talk about teamwork and friendship and loyalty in legitimately wholesome ways, and they attribute their understanding of these things to Horde teachings.
My opinion on this? Adora and Catra are as messed up as they are because of Shadow Weaver. Not because of Hordak’s Etherian Horde.
While the Horde was hardly the ideal place to live, and while it legitimately raised children for war, it wasn’t quite as terrible for everyone as it was for Adora and Catra. Those girls suffered on another level specifically because Shadow Weaver took an interest in them and had great influence on their childhoods.
For everyone else, it appears that the Horde was an authoritarian, strict place to live, but it had reasonable rules and opportunities for recreation. It valued its members enough to allow them to refuse to fight without proper supplies. It taught positive lessons, even if it did so against a backdrop of war. It wasn’t “good,” persay, but it wasn’t monstrous.
Hordak Himself
To my eyes, Hordak doesn’t actually care much for ruling a place. He’s not into it. He doesn’t enjoy it. He’s into science and logistics. He does what he does because he has a pathological need for Prime’s approval, and conquering a world is how he understands said approval must be earned.
He’s otherwise pretty fair to his subjects: he outlines clear expectations, doesn’t punish unreasonably, and doesn’t appear to be particularly into more “classic” evil things, like torturing or wanton destruction or whatever.
I think that the more manipulative aspects of the Horde, things like the propaganda and all of what happened to Catra and Adora, are more Shadow Weaver’s doing than Hordak’s. He’s definitely authoritarian and stern, but he’s neither a sadist nor especially power-hungry. He doesn’t care specifically about being in charge; he cares about being valued by someone he highly respects. Mainly because he has severe trouble valuing himself.
In Conclusion
Is the Horde evil? If you’re a civilian Etherian who doesn’t want to belong to it, then yes. Yes, it is. If you’re Catra or Adora, the Horde has essentially ruined your life.
But it’s definitely a grey area when it comes to its other members. The members of the Horde are, as Frosta kindly reminded us in season four, just people. And they’re people who fight for their own reasons and make up a unique sort of Etherian culture of their own.
I think that a lot of what was truly awful about the Horde had less to do with Hordak and more to do with Shadow Weaver, specifically because much of that truly awful stuff was visited upon Catra and Adora.
For everyone else, the Horde was a pretty standard military operation: it conquered, because Hordak needed it to conquer in order to attain his sense of self-worth, but it wasn’t especially evil about it. It treated its members pretty reasonably, given the context. In my opinion, it certainly could have been a lot worse.
How? By being Prime’s Horde. As I’m sure we’ll see in season five.

it’s time to TALK abt every wonderful fantastic thing she ra and the princesses of power has accomplished w just one (1) season !
cracks knuckles. alright kids let’s dig IN
firstly, before we get into the fantastic queer rep, diverse designs in both ethnicity and body type, groundbreaking trope flipping- i want to talk abt adora partially bc i love her w all my heart but partially bc her character is just SO important in so many ways
gestures to her ??? friends, adora is so wonderful im crying in the club. let’s break it down ! why is adora such a powerful, fresh chara ?
exhibit a: her personality. it is so so rare to see a sensible, straightforward MC
“She is very practical, very buttoned-up in her own personal style. She likes fighting. She’s very straightforward. She doesn’t have a lot of ornamentation, or even personality, in the way she presents herself. Her ponytail’s just up-and-back, very straightforward.” - Noelle Stevenson
this is going to be long so more beneath the cut !
as stevenson says adora is a no nonsense, hands on person which is clear from the way she handles things ! it’s obvious from the start she’s v dutiful, dedicated, moralistic, a little too set on the facts- this is clear from the way she gives her all to the rebellion once her ?? admittedly v divided view of the world into good and bad flip flops (which is a discussion for another day)
to her whole mapping out an entire game plan for a BALL of all things
u could argue this has smth to do w her regimented upbringing in the hoard but friends, tell me if u can truly see catra doing this for a party. in part it is ofc nature and nurture but when it comes down to it adora is a planning, facts type of gal and that is SO cool to see in an MC
most MCs we get esp in media directed towards younger kids (i.e. aang from atla, steven from su, harry potter, percy jackson etc) are 1. male 2. much more emotionally driven which there is ofc nothing wrong w but she ra is rlly turning the tables by 1. having a female lead and 2. one who’s realistic, candid and orderly in her approach to handling things
this lets new swathes of ppl connect w the MC of spop ! personally i find her a lot more relatable than the more big picture, emotionally driven type MCs much of the media tends to sport yet she’s still a dorky
vaguely confused
chara who’s learning to grow and change everyone can relate to. this is esp relevant in the way she learns to not just take the route she’s supposed to, not only by leaving the hoard but choosing her friends over mission near the end of season 1
all in all???? top tier stevenson we are BLESSED to have adora as she ra’s lead
second order of business ! the LGBT rep
and the queer overtones ??? on everything ???
esp w catra and adora’s dynamic there are plenty of queer overtones
“The relationship between Adora and Catra is the defining one of the show. It’s so complex and complicated between the two of them, and they still have such a long way to go. These two people mean everything to each other and find themselves on opposite sides.” - Noelle Stevenson
she goes on to say in response to the question of whether or not catradora is the queer relationship many viewers are seeking
“I don’t want to put a narrative on it that isn’t necessarily in the show itself. I want the people watching it to draw their own narrative from that. It’s something that continues to unfold through the series, and it’s something I’m very, very eager for people to see... There’s a lot to read into that, and a lot of it is subtextual. But it’s a reading that’s definitely fair.” - Noelle Stevenson
not to mention the finale’s fantastic end scene w the giant rainbow ??
as well as hints of possible trans charas demonstrated in one case by bow’s choice of swimsuit !
and ofc the pairing of spinnerella / netossa ! an adorable canonical wlw pairing she ra’s team has confirmed and is displayed in show
not to mention noelle stevenson, the writer of she ra, is a member of the lgbt community and thus here to give us the rep we need
and while we’re here the show’s writing team is composed of ALL LADIES
( this is also just a great article by LA times abt why she ra is first rate )
thirdly i want to talk abt the chara designs
friends, there are LOADS of poc in she ra ?? not only are TWO of the main charas- bow and glimmer- most likely poc (i believe glimmer may be half asian or smth similar? her aunt castaspella appears to be asian as pictured below !)
the main cast of good guys (11) as sort of listed in the wiki Adora, Glimmer, Bow, Angella, Entrapta, Perfuma, Sea Hawk, Mermista, Frosta, Netossa, Spinnerella contains at least 5 poc ( bolded ) THAT’S ESSENTIALLY HALF THE CAST and possibly more !
not to mention the designs are highly diverse in body shape ! there are plus size charas like spinnerella
and even the side characters have engaging, fun, diverse designs that i am absolutely living for as u can prbly tell by my soda pop icon ;)
and lastly?? she ra is rlly flipping tables on tropes
w a female teenage rivalry w heavy queer undertones. there are SO many of these kinds of relationships w male charas but when’s the last time we got it for the girls??
she ra is rlly out here delivering us a quality protagonist/antagonist codependent shifting complex dynamic w two teen girls. that in itself is groundbreaking imo
and bow ?? a walking trope smasher ?? crushing toxic masculinity singlehandedly ?? he’s respectful towards women, sensitive and affectionate and NONE of it is looked down upon ! ( this whole paragraph is a link to my bow post if u want to read More akjflskdjf )
so in conclusion ?? do watch she ra for the diverse, engaging, mostly female cast, the lgbt rep, the trope smashing and ground breaking and ofc, the excellent story. it’s absolutely worth it, and i’m super hyped to see where she-ra and the princesses of power takes us next !
♡ for more of my spop posts click here ♡
#she ra#spop#she ra review#spop review#adora#bow#catra#spinnerella#netossa#spop analysis#OOF THIS WAS what ive been meaning to do all break#bc rlly?? this show needs all the love#i NEVEr write review so eyes emoji#yk it's good#this show is soo good#myspop

3 Fabulously Sleek Studio Apartments That Are Timeless
An urban homeowner has a lot to deal with. Annoying neighbours, out-of-order elevators and noise pollution. So it only makes sense that their homes need to be a haven of comfort and style. With such hectic lives- coming home to anything less is nothing short of unacceptable. These three studio apartments are the definition of a home worthy of an urban citizen. The homes are stylish and comfortable, never sacrificing comfort for fashion while still maintaining a pleasing aesthetic. Take note of how the designers united the apartments with different elements and created a cohesive space throughout. Think of ways to do this in your own particular space.
Visualizer: Lugerin Igor Our first apartment is found in Central Park, and showcases a wonderfully soothing color palette and functional layout.
The floor panels are a warm color and ease the mind. The apartment is delightfully simple yet still glamorous, as is fitting for a Central Park studio apartment.
The kitchen island is tiled, a simple design feature that adds depth to the entire room. Timber barstools soften the dark grey of the tiles and gives an organic vibe.
Simple, but by no means boring. Geometric prints on the floor liven up a plain floor design, while accent colors brighten up the overall aesthetic.
The bedroom is nestled behind a slightly industrial looking black frame door. Its aim is to be relaxing- and it hits the mark. Lush houseplants add a little nature to the urban view and some color to the room.
The bed is a subtle contrast, grey sheets with white bedding. A geometric print blanket adds dimension to the room and a colorful chair is a pleasant bright spot. The light fixtures add a subtle hint of industrial style.
The bathroom door is made out of a white mesh type material and turns a necessity into a unique design feature. A light blue color ties the room together and is a nice departure from the monochromatic color scheme.
This bathroom is sleek and functional. The amenities are state-of-the-art and means that the homeowner receives only the best bathroom experience.
Visualizer: KDVA Architects This Muscovite apartment is smart and effortlessly sophisticated. It’s a dream right in the heart of Moscow. What more could you want out of a studio apartment? Let us see, shall we?
The apartment is sleek and utilizes an eternally chic monochromatic color scheme. The overall picture is one of organic and industrial comfort.
Brown leather will forever be classy, pair that with a contemporary art piece and you have one sophisticated picture.
Paired with a glossy white floor, the black shelves add industrial chic into this residential building.
The area behind the bookshelf has been left open to highlight a gorgeous wall that has been perfectly styled to add to the industrial undercurrent.
The kitchen appliances have wisely been left white, this is makes the room seem bigger and clean.
The kitchen table is large enough for guests and the black color matches the fittings to complete the room’s design.
The room is minimalist, but it is comfortable and homely at the same time. All the different elements come together to form a unified space.
The bedroom and study use a pastel pink to brighten up the color scheme and it works wonders for the overall appearance of the spaces.
In these pictures we can see just how unified these spaces are. The bedroom matches the bathroom in subtle ways, such as the complementary colors and fixtures.
The bedroom is a bright, cheery space with a gorgeous view. The room blends several colors to enhance the flood of natural light from the uncovered windows.
A study area is stationed close to the bed, which is a wise use of space. The bed’s headboard doubles as a bookshelf, turning it into a multi-functional piece of furniture.
This room proves that pink isn’t reserved for little girls and Disney princesses. The color can be used in any room, without looking tacky or childish.
The apartment makes use of bold elements to carry the decor, with minimal adornment to showcase these bold design features.
Glass is an easy way to take your room to the next level making it look refined and tasteful. Wooden elements in the bathroom keep it from looking like something off of a spaceship.
The bathroom is a masterpiece of modern design. The sleek amenities and monochromatic color scheme makes it a space for the ages.
Visualizer: Emil Dervish This last apartment is a vibrant gem that can be found looking over the city of Kiev, in Ukraine.
Bold colors set against a monochromatic backdrop look stunning and take center stage in this home.
The furniture in itself is very simple, it is the combination that makes the individual pieces truly special. From sleek and modern, to cosy and colorful- the combination works!
The green sitting chairs brings out the subtle hints of green in the patterned carpet. A grey coffee table is stylishly simple and doesn’t detract from its surroundings.
Wide uncovered windows allow in a lot of natural light that brightens up the whole room and allows the view to become a framed work of art.
Thick blue curtains are a vibrant feature to the room that brings everything alive. The kitchen provides a solid base for the curtains, and are an understated design aspect. The tropical leaf in the vase provides a dramatic effect too. You can get artificial leaves from Amazon that mimic the same effect.
Here, we can see the designer’s original vision in the design for the apartment. If it doesn’t look good on paper, then it rarely translates well into physical reality.
In this picture we can see the vision realized, it takes true talent to create a design that doesn’t need to be changed much.
The bedroom was designed so as not to clash with the rest of the apartment. Instead it is like a little bubble that mirrors the rest of the home’s design. The Ikea Frosta Stool serves as a nice side table in this this very minimalist bedroom.
Chrome amenities and a lush green plant prevents the bathroom from being too white. While a mirror adds dimension and reflects the true accent piece: a forest green ceiling.
The hallway was by no means forgotten, and ties different elements together to provide a pleasant preview for those who are about to enter the apartment. .
Every designer needs a palette, with an idea of which colors and textures they need. Here, we can see just how well all the apartment’s elements work together.

Finn Prompt-a-palooza!
Here we go, finally! All four of Finn prompts from my inbox. I hope everyone enjoys!
I love all of the ficlets you've been posting here! Would you be willing to write more stories with Finn, especially when they first come under Catra and Adora's care, getting used to everybody?
Finn liked Catra better.
That was how Adora felt, at least, given the way the child seemed to cling to Catra. And she was trying really, really, really hard not to be jealous, because it made sense that Finn would latch on to the only other person like them.
But she always itched to reach out and comfort them whenever they were scared or anxious. She wouldn’t, because that would just scare them more. But the temptation was strong.
“It’s okay,” Catra assured Finn as he hid behind her leg. They had decided to rip off the band-aid and just introduce them to the entire Princess Alliance at once, after warning their well meaning friends to not overwhelm the child.
“Here.”
Catra easily picked Finn up, letting them stand on her chair and get a better look at everyone. “That’s Scorpia over there, she’s the one who gives really good hugs.” Scorpia beamed and waved. “And that’s Perfuma, she’s the one who restored most of the palace gardens. Those blue roses you like are hers. That’s Netossa and Spinnerella, they’re married like me and Adora, and they travel a lot and bring back awesome snacks. Don’t… Don’t try the chocolate, though. You might be allergic.”
They all grimaced a little, remembering Catra learning that about herself the hard way. “That’s Mermista — she’s the queen of Salineas, and I know that place is all water and it sucks, but she’s still cool.” Mermista threw a mock scowl in Catra’s direction. She stuck her tongue out over Finn’s head. “That’s Frosta, she’s the princess of the snow kingdom.”
Finn’s eyes lit up. “I’ve never seen snow.”
Catra bit down a groan before saying, “We’ll have to visit some time, if Frosta’s okay with it.”
“Of course, Kitty. I know how much you love the snow.”
Brat, Catra thought, resisting another, very mature tongue sticking out. “And that’s Entrapta. She’s the one who makes all the cool robots and stuff.”
“Oh, you like my robots?” Entrapta asked happily, already producing some new project from somewhere. “Wanna see what I’m working on?”
Finn looked at Catra, equal parts anxious and excited. Catra helped them off the chair. “Go on.”
They immediately ran over to Entrapta, watching her with wide eyes, while everyone just sort of stared at Catra. She raised an eyebrow back. “What?”
“Pretty sure they’re all just surprised you can talk to a child without terrifying them,” Glimmer teased. Catra hissed at her.
Finn, meanwhile, was starting to open a little, wandering around the table. Perfuma saw them coming and produced a blue rose, sticking it in their wild hair. They grinned and giggled.
“Can I give you a hug?” Scorpia asked excitedly.
“Little bones,” Catra reminded her as Finn nodded. Scorpia adjusted accordingly so as to not accidentally squish Finn, but they didn’t seem to mind. Adora wrapped her arms around Catra’s waist, resting her chin on her shoulder, and smiling as they watched Finn cautiously inspect Mermista, who was being surprisingly patient.
It was going to take awhile, Adora knew, for Finn to really adjust to all of them, but especially to going from no parents to two (possibly overbearing) moms, and an entire gaggle of aunts and uncles ready to dote on them at all times. The wait was worth seeing that smile on Finn’s face as Frosta produced a small snowstorm over their head.
It would be worth it.
* * * * *
Catra and Adora and the first time their child gets a really bad cold?
“Guys, it’s just a cold—”
“They won’t stop coughing! What if they can’t breathe? Or—”
Glimmer rested her hands on Adora’s shoulders, squeezing hard. Catra was still peeking into Finn’s room, watching them sleep fitfully.
“They’re fine. I promise. It’s a cold. Didn’t you guys get colds when you know what don’t answer that, I don’t want to hear about what terrifying medical system the Horde had. Just… trust me, okay? The healer said Finn is okay, they just need to stay hydrated and sleep. Okay?” Adora nodded, chewing on her thumbnail. “Catra, do you — and she’s gone.”
Glimmer sighed, looking into the room. Catra and Melog were sitting on Finn’s bed, Catra carefully checking their temperature with her hand.
“Okay, but if they’re like Catra, then how do we know they’ll be okay?” Adora asked anxiously. “Like, really know? The medicine the healers use doesn’t always work on her, remember?”
“And yet she’s still around to be a pain in my ass.” That got Gimmer a small smile.
“But what if they have some rare disease from living on the streets or—?”
“Adora, do I have to get Bow up here to hug you?”
Adora hesitated before nodding. Glimmer sighed, disappeared, and reappeared with her husband, who wrapped Adora in the kind of tight hug only Bow could give.
“Where’s Catra?” he asked, looking at Glimmer. She nodded to the bedroom. Catra was now scratching Finn’s ears while Melog cuddled against their back.
“Hovering.”
It wasn’t really that surprising that Adora and Catra would be overbearing parents. Their own childhoods still haunted them. Who had taken care of them when they were sick? Who had rubbed their backs when they coughed, checked their temperatures, made sure they stayed hydrated and ate something, even just a ration bar?
Glimmer had a feeling she knew the answer, and it was exactly why they were acting the way they were now. They didn’t want another kid suffering the way they did.
“Okay, but what if they—”
“Adora,” Glimmer cut her off firmly. “Stop imagining worst-case scenarios and just go sit with your kid and wife, okay?”
Not that Glimmer thought hovering was necessarily the right answer, either. But at least Catra would keep her from spiraling into all the ways a cold might kill Finn.
“Right. Okay. Right.”
She threw her arms around her friends before hurrying into the room.
——————————————————
Most of the day was a blur for Finn. They remembered people talking, something cold against their forehead, sitting up to drink water. But mostly everything was hot and spinny.
It was dark when they woke for real, feeling a little better. Melog purred against their back, and they smiled, reaching back to pet the alien cat.
“Did Mom tell you to stay with me?”
Melog made an almost amused noise and tilted their head to the other side of the bed. Finn looked, and nearly laughed.
Catra and Adora were both sitting on the floor next to the bed, heads resting on the mattress, fast asleep. It looked really uncomfortable. But it made Finn feel better as they snuggled back down under their covers to sleep. They were sure both women had spent all day worrying and pacing because that was what they always did when they were worried. And Finn was someone they worried about now.
They had someone who worried about them. It made them feel pleasant warm as they fell back to sleep.
* * * * *
could you write something where little finn gets separation anxiety after catra and adora take them in? Thanks!
Adora and Catra were surprisingly busy people. Being the hero of the universe and the person who kept the queen’s life from falling apart were both a lot of work.
(That was how Catra described her job to Finn, anyway, despite Glimmer’s glare and protest that she could keep her life together just fine.)
They always made time for Finn, though. Finn never felt alone or neglected, not like they had when they were living on the streets. No matter how tired their new moms were, they always made a point of spending at least an hour (usually two) with Finn in their room after dinner. They’d let Finn talk about whatever they wanted — what they had learned that day, what hell they’d wrought on the unsuspecting Bright Moon guards, how they were finally learning not to hoard food anymore — until someone fell asleep (usually Adora, on Catra’s shoulder, snoring while she and Finn quietly teased her). Finn felt good. Loved.
“I don’t wanna go to the North. It’s cold.”
“Tell me about it,” Catra muttered, already grimacing at the thought. And they were still in Bright Moon. Glimmer clapped her on the shoulder.
“But you get to help take down the old Horde base! Remember how much you hated that place?”
“Not helping, Sparkles.”
Adora rolled her eyes, ruffling Finn’s hair. “You don’t have to come if you don’t want to, kiddo. There’s plenty of people to stay here and watch you. Or you could go visit Plumeria. I’m sure Perfuma would love to have you.”
Finn momentarily brightened at the thought before their expression fell. “But…”
“We’re coming back,” Catra assured them. “It’ll just be for a few days.”
“And we can call every night!” Adora added. Finn shifted slightly, staring at their feet.
“I guess… that’d be fun.” They hadn’t spent much time in Plumeria. Sometimes they went with Catra while she meditated with Perfuma (Finn had tried once, and had completely failed at it, but Perfuma assured them it was okay), and it was nice there.
Perfuma, of course, was delighted at the prospect of having her adopted nibling stay with her while Catra and Adora were away. She already had an entire room set up for them by the time Glimmer dropped them off (after lots of hugs from both moms and promises to call and they would always be available if Finn wanted to talk).
“Are you hungry?” Perfuma asked brightly. “We were just about to sit down for dinner. Scorpia’s visiting tonight, too!”
Scorpia was great — Perfuma was great, and Finn loved them both a lot. But that didn’t stop them from bouncing anxiously all throughout dinner, checking their tracker pad every five minutes. Adora and Catra had said they would call, they had promised, and Finn knew they took their promises seriously. Adora had explained once that it was a really important word for them, so when they promised something, they meant it. But what if they were distracted? What if they were tired and fell asleep? What if Adora forgot the charger, or—
“Finn?”
They looked up, blinking rapidly, to see Scorpia and Perfuma watching them with shared concern. “You okay, buddy?” Scorpia asked, tilting her head.
“Um… yeah. Yeah, I’m fine. I’m fine.”
The tracker pad went off, and Finn immediately dove for it, trying not to look too anxious as they answered.
“…hate the cold—”
“Oh, shush — hey Finn!” Adora said, beaming when she saw the child. Catra was huddled up next to her, wrapped in a blanket and visibly shivering. “How’s it going?”
“It’s warm,” Finn said, grinning back. Catra stuck her tongue out at them.
They talked for almost three hours, until Glimmer yelled for them to shut up and go to sleep and they were getting up at dawn no matter how little sleep the women got. Catra yelled back that she wouldn’t move until she actually saw Glimmer out of bed.
“I should’ve stayed with you,” she informed Finn wryly. “All those two have done is argue the entire way here.”
“That’s all they ever do.”
Catra made a show of putting a hand to her heart, as if offended. “Scorned by my own child.”
Adora rolled her eyes, shoving Catra back. “Talk to you tomorrow, Finn. Sleep well. Love you.”
“Love you!” Catra added.
“Love you too. Don’t freeze.”
Their smile faded when the screen went dark.
“Finn?”
They jumped, looking at Perfuma. She and Scorpia had left the child to have their privacy while they talked. She was standing in the door now, watching them with a small smile. “Did you have a good talk with your moms?” They nodded slowly. “Good. Can I show you something?”
“Sure.”
Finn followed Perfuma out of the tent and to the Heart Blossom. They already knew where they were going. “I’ve seen the meditation room—”
“But you’ve never seen it at night,” Perfuma said, leading Finn up the hidden stairs. That was true, Finn supposed. The room was flooded with sunlight during the day, lighting up every corner. Now it was softly lit by moonlight, giving it a comfortable, warm feeling. “You miss your moms, huh?”
“No,” Finn said quickly. “I’m fine.”
Perfuma smiled a bit, going to sit in her usual spot and gesturing for Finn to join her. “Has Catra ever told you why she started meditating?” They shook their head slowly. “She… went through a lot of bad stuff when she was a kid, and she used to get really upset and anxious about it. She had a hard time processing those emotions, though, so I offered to help her. Adora did more than I ever could, but I taught her some slightly healthier coping mechanisms, and she really took to meditating after… a couple years.”
The princess chuckled. Finn tilted their head. It was hard to imagine Catra ever being anxious or scared. She seemed so confident all the time. “Does she still…?”
“Feel that way? Sometimes,” Perfuma said. “Don’t tell her I told you, though. I just want you to know that it’s okay if you’re unhappy right now.”
“Do I have to meditate?”
“No,” Perfuma assured them. “But we can talk about it, if you want to tell me what’s wrong.”
Finn blushed, ears drooping. “It’s dumb.”
“I’m sure it’s not. Do you miss them?”
“I… guess, yeah,” they admitted reluctantly. “What if they don’t come back? Or something happens? Or Aunt Glimmer forgets them?”
Perfuma coughed, clearly trying not to laugh. “I don’t think Glimmer would forget them. But I understand what you mean. It’s scary to be away from them, isn’t it? Even though you know they’re coming home and they’re going to call you every night, it’s still scary.”
“Yeah,” Finn muttered. “Like I said, it’s dumb.”
“Of course it isn’t dumb. They’re your mothers. You miss them. There’s nothing wrong with that.” Finn wasn’t convinced. “Adora and Catra used to have a hard time being away from each other, you know.” Thy looked up in surprise. “After the war and everything. They had to learn that the world wouldn’t end if they didn’t see each other for a few hours. Do you think that’s dumb?”
“No.”
“Then why are your feelings different?” Finn didn’t have an answer. Perfuma gently ruffled their hair. “It’s okay to feel what you feel. You should talk to your moms about it. I bet they’d understand better than you think.”
“Okay,” they said quietly, nodding.
“Did that help at all?”
“A little.” And it did. Especially knowing Adora and Catra had been the same way once. Maybe Finn could talk to them about it.
Perfuma cupped their cheeks and gently kissed their forehead. They smiled a little despite themselves.
“And they’re not your only family,” she assured the child with a smile of her own. “We’re all here for you. I promise.”

ooooo I wanna join the Finn prompt too if it's okay? 🥺🥺 I thought of them (+ glimbow's kids too if u want?) accidentally triggering their moms with throwaway comments abt the FZ or Prime's ship or smtg? like mb gushing that those places look oh so cool in the books bc they're kids and like... one's a wasteland the other's a battleship, I can see them going "why did aunt scorpia even rebuild!!!" or "damn I wish I went there!!!!" without realizing how much those places actually destroyed ppl 😔
Finn thought space was cool.
They weren’t wrong — it was cool. Adora had spent hours on Darla’s deck just staring out the huge windows, watching the stars and planets slowly drift by. Stargazing was her favorite relaxing activity. It was even better when Catra joined her.
Catra… had complicated feelings about space. It wasn’t the stars’ fault that every time she looked at them she heard the faint echo of all beings must suffer to become pure. Maybe someday she could stare at the sky with the same fondness her wife and child felt.
For now, she was content to lie with her face buried in Adora’s chest, listening to her heartbeat and the reverberation of her voice as she talked about the constellations.
That was where she was now, with Finn’s excited voice rambling on about school. Well, it was sort of school. It was the kids spending several hours with George and Lance a couple times a week learning everything they’d ever need to know about history, with guest appearances by princesses with specific knowledge or experience (Entrapta had been allowed to teach exactly one lesson).
“Grandpa Lance and Grandpa George were telling us about the war today.”
They had insisted on being “Grandpa” to every single child they taught, after a pointed look at their own childless son and daughter-in-law (not for a lack of trying on their part). To be fair, Adora and Catra had gotten a head start, taking Finn in they were nine or ten. Everyone else had to get their kids the hard way. It made for some interesting age differences.
“They said it’s not really history yet because it’s still in the fairly recent past, but since all of our parents were in it, we should probably know about it.” Catra frowned, making a note to find out what exactly was in that curriculum. Finn knew the overtures of the war, but none of the details. Including the things Catra had done. She wanted to keep that way as long as possible. “They said knowing about the space stuff was important but they didn’t know much, so they asked ‘Trapta’s weird friend to help.”
Catra went stiff; the slim fingers in her hair hesitated for a moment before sliding down between her shoulder blades, gently but firmly rubbing her back.
“Hordak?”
“Yeah, him.”
The image of Hordak trying to teach a bunch of kids would have been hilarious if not for the fact that he knew everything.
“What did he tell you?” Adora asked, remaining calm while Catra tried to breathe through the sudden rush of emotions.
“He talked a lot about planets and all the places Horde Prime had been.” Finn’s voice dropped a little. “He was really bad, huh?”
“The worst,” Adora said, finding a knot in Catra’s back and gently trying to sooth it away.
“He talked about Horde Prime’s ship, too. A real spaceship!” Taking deep breaths was starting to get harder. The hand on her back moved to her head, gently scratching her ears. Catra didn’t want Finn to see breaking down — didn’t want them to think it was their fault for bringing it up. Adora had gotten the silent signal. “You guys were actually on it, right? And Uncle Bow and Aunt Glimmer? What was it like?”
Catra’s control was starting to unravel. “You know, kiddo,” Adora said carefully, “it’s kind of hard for us to talk about that. Like how it’s hard for you to talk about living on the streets, you know?”
“Oh.” The word was regretful, rather than the disappointment Catra would have expected. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay! I know it all sounds really cool when someone else tells you about. Like you said, it’s more recent than the things you normally learn about. Sometimes people need more time to heal.”
That last sentence was for Catra as much as Finn. There was a shuffle of feet through grass, and then Finn was on top of Catra, hugging her tight. Adora crushed them both in her arms, smiling.
“Why don’t you go find Uncle Bow and Aunt Glimmer? We could camp out tonight. Set food on fire.”
“You’re supposed to cook the food, not set it on fire,” Finn said with a small giggle.
“I have a natural talent. Go on.”
Adora waited until Finn was well out of ear shot before sitting up, tugging Catra with her. “Okay, breathe.” She rubbed her hand slowly up and down Catra’s spine as she spoke. “Follow me. Just breathe. It’s okay.”
Catra took several shaking, too fast breaths before she managed to fall into rhythm with Adora’s hand. “D-Damn it,” she hissed, pounding her fist into the ground. “Why the fuck are George and Lance letting Hordak teach kids?!”
“I don’t know.” There’d have to be a talk about that. “It doesn’t sound like he got into too many details, though.”
“And he had to bring up the fucking ship. Did Prime just fry all his common sense out of him?”
Adora tucked her wife under her chin, pulling her into a gentle hug. They stayed like that until the anxious purr in Catra’s chest finally faded, until the tremors stopped, until she could open her eyes without seeing a haze of green. Another storm successfully weathered, at least until it returned to haunt Catra’s dreams.
“Am I ever going to be able to talk about it without wanting to throw up?” Catra asked quietly after a moment.
“I don’t know,” Adora said honestly. Catra drew back to look at her.
“How do you do it? You were there too.”
“I hate talking about it. So much. But the only reason I was there was for you. So… having you close by helps.” She smiled weakly. “Guess this means we’re stuck together.”
“Oh, the horror.”
