So there's this comment that ruffled my feathers about the new superman show.

It says that modern western media should take notes from anime. We got a sailor moon transformation for Superman and they said, "not like that!"

And that stuck with me cause two things I can imagine.

They would rather have DC go shounen or seinen.

Which is a fun-tastic idea yet, I have qualms with it per se.

So shounen is notorious for its female characterizations. Mainly relegating them as eye candy or as the femme fatale eye candy of the sorts. They don't even have the depth that some characters do in comics, man.

If they would like to go the shounen route, I recommend they take notes from JJK from Gege Akutami or Radiant from Tony Valente. Although weebs would dismiss Radiant as it was made by a Frenchman ergo a Westerner and they do have certain biases that make them feel like a Westerner.

I have much to say about Radiant but moving on.

Seinen. I solemnly believe that DC should be a seinen. The gore, the themes the horrors.

The heroes, the pain and the choices. All these are so seinen like.

My seinen of choice are the ones by Inio Asano or Shuzo Oshimi.

So to me, what I think is that the manga weebs would like DC to go the shounen route where women would either become eye candy or one dimensional or just bland to the point that it's like a white person.

It's just chilling to realize that that may be a possibility. The reason shounen is popular is the power fantasy and that the women aren't front and center unless the plot calls for it. They never move the plot forward, they are the ones used to move it.

Radiant doesn't do that and for that it is unpopular. I bet my boots that that's why it isn't talked about more. Very very sad.

And with seinen, it's probably Berserk where th e ladies get the brunt of the damage and Guts gets the emotional damage. I get it.

Or Attack on Titan and gain apologists for genocide and have some women characters lose all character development.

It's just that these are some of the things that come to mind. And don't get me started on representation. The only manga that really tackles it well is Radiant. It is a crying shame that Radiant doesn't get enough love. That it is nothing more than just something that exists.

I am so sure that if Radiant gets a film adaptation and is critically acclaimed the weebs would not consider it a successful anime to movie adaptation cause it's French and it's woke. Fuckers. Bigoted motherfuckers.

I'm just really reviling at the idea that these people love to generalize and would rather act like a gatekeeping bigot than be open about new experiences and probably see the value in the entertainment. Then they'll call you shallow or that your standards are low. Fucking hell. I hate that. When they call my standards low like fuck. And when I do try one of their recommendations and didn't consume like it was meant to I'm the shallow one. I read Attack on Titan and never once did I find Eren in the right nor did I ever consider that genocide is an option. I just read it to be entertained and I was. Apparently if you don't have an opinion on Eren's actions when you finish AoT then you're not smart.

It's just pissing me off that people will make you feel like crap for genuinely enjoying something.

June 17th

I woke up so early this morning on my day off, I wanted to sleep in but that never happens anymore. I'm too used to waking up at 6 am every morning. I'm not sure what to do with my day, I have an appointment at 3 pm. but after that, I have nothing to do. I've been thinking about going to this cool antique mall maybe ill do that with my day.

I've been wanting to find the " Perfect " thing at a thrift. I have no idea what that item is yet but I'm hoping to find it someday. It's so hard to go thrifting sometimes, everything can be really cute but kinda of expensive, or there's nothing cute that makes it a lot harder to want to keep looking to find something cute. I notice a lot of the times that I just get stuff cause it's close enough to what I actually want. I mean I've found some golden pieces before but I know that if I don't get this thing that's semi-like what I want I may miss out if I never find the perfect item.

Anyway, I hope that everyone has a fantastic day today! I'm also thinking about doing an about me post here shortly, I just find it hard to tell people about myself and talk about myself ._.

I genuinely have a lot of hesitation revealing myself to other people online in particular bc its so easy to be misunderstood and the potential to be misperceived makes me anxious. And also I have a hard time feeling like I can be myself online when it's so easy to be lied to 👁👁. And also I have relational trauma idk how to unpack by myself <3

There was always these fears in reality too, but the faux permanence of the internet and my scorpio moon made me very adamant not to build too much of an online footprint rooted in my own identity. A fear of being seen in ways I can't control, to present myself at any given moment as a version of myself that I find to be unworthy of sharing in any long form way.

There are definitely kickstarter scams out there.

But a lot of those failed video game kickstarters are definitely more complicated than scams

Its the result of poor management, technical issues, experience levels, poor design choices and so many different things.

A lot of time and money goes into games and most kickstarter budgets dont even approach the normal amount needed to feed a team for the months planned...and if that game is delayed at all to fix issues? More money is needed for that team.

A "scam" implies some sort of intention to trick people out of their money. And i understand how people can feel that way if they spent money on something that doesn't meet their expectations or turns out bad. But i dont think it was the developers intentions to fool people and run off with the money.

Yooka Laylee, for example, seemed promising. But they made really bad choices. They thought huge worlds would be a selling point...instead, they turned out feeling empty. Things that are good on paper can turn out awful when put into place, but you may have no idea until all the assets are made, maps designed, months have passed and things are only just coming together. This is a result of not playtesting soon enough; a time management issue, and it happens all the time.

And as I mentioned before; fixing issues requires more time, which may cause delays, which in turn costs more money.

And struggling kickstarters may end up cutting out staff because games are expensive. Which just makes it harder to complete.

The AAA industry funds games based on how successful/safe they predict they will be. Kickstarters fund games primarily through hype.

Games the AAA industry wouldve tossed aside as being "too risky" have found success on Kickstarter and that's amazing! But...there's a reason it's risky.

Unlike call of duty or fifa or whatever, there's no formula for what works and what doesnt work.

Industry professionals trying to make a game through kickstarter are entirely responsible for their checkpoints, whereas before a higher up wouldve been like "we want to see a prototype on ______ date." They suddenly have more freedom.

It makes sense how games like Broken Age and Yooka Laylee could fall apart despite having industry professionals on board.

As for games with inexperienced game designers? Thats a whole other kettle of fish.

AAA games in general never have everything the developers planned to put in. There's never enough time. Stuff is always cut down and then cut down again.

Kickstarter games are held to the standards set when they wrote the game features on the page. This is understandable; as the consumers paid for what the kickstarter said it would deliver.

Yet if they cut those features: they face criticism. If they dont cut those features....they lose time to work on making the game as a whole better, less resources, badly Implemented features, etc.

Im not saying this to excuse bad design. When making Yooka Laylee they shouldve tested the levels as early as possible. They should've looked even harder at how Banjo worked. And with the money they raised from the kickstarter...!?

But at the same time I can see how they didnt have time to make a revised version. And they probably will never make a Yooka Laylee 2 to fix that. And the kickstarter money was crumbs compared to AAA budgets. And AAA games fall flat VERY OFTEN.

Its just a bad game. Not a scam. Not some evil trick to fool consumers.

It's always a risk to back these projects; just as its a risk when a company invests millions into a new game. Be careful because you really dont know what to expect.

Its just a lot more...skeevy, I suppose, when the funding comes directly from excited consumers rather then industry investors. Kickstarters in general are probably a whole other discussion that Im nowhere near qualified to talk about.

I just feel like I need to vent about a flipnote artist who harassed me on June 2021, cause I feel like that I'm harassed by people who don't follow my Instagram account. Anyway, here comes the vent. That stupid asshole, PhonyGuyArt/IFuckingHateEastie found my Instagram account, blocked me and made a rant post about me stating that "I'm just retearded as fuck" and he's a total immature for betraying me. I just can't take it anymore. Plus, I'm definitely not retarded as fuck and they are horrible insults. He's a tryhard flipnote artist, and you know what? Girls don't deserve to be hurt by boys, they loved each others as they just wanted to. He SHOULD NOT do that in the first place and he SHOULD NOT be respected, he only acts like a immature. People on Amino and Instagram like me have done treating me before. For my fans and friends out here, block that guy PhonyGuyArt/IFuckingHateEastie if he harasses me. For furries and non-furs out here, tell him to back off before he blocks everyone out there. And NO. No petition to get him banned. Instead, just tell him to leave me alone. 3. i was bugged by the idea that long pretty hair would get the flattened Hat Hair look from taakos wizard hat and thought that he might put long hair up into a half-top bun. this way the part inside his hat doesnt get in his face and also doesnt get the hat hair dent, 

one day lup or someone sends a fireball his way and he ducks in time to have a face stlll but not fast enough to not get the top of his hat/head scorched. you know what happens if you put your hair half up and then cut it off? mullet.

so logan transferred to play for the Aces roughly halfway through his freshman year. prior to that, he had been a part of the roster at Brown University. one important thing to note, however, is that 1) logan was the backup goaltender there, and 2) he never actually played a game in net for the Brown University Bears

it isn’t that logan wasn’t a good goaltender though, because he was. rather, logan never got a chance to play because, when he enrolled in the university, they already had their own goaltender who was right at the top of the league. 

the goaltender was named Nathan Chase, and although he was only a sophomore, he had taken a few gap years out of high school to play in some hockey leagues around the United States & Canada, so he was 20 years old by the time logan joined. logan, in contrast, was only 16, which shouldn’t have meant anything but ultimately did. although logan was skilled – more skilled, arguably, than Nathan himself – he was also young and comparatively inexperienced. that said, Nathan’s seniority– along with his favored status amongst their teammates – made him the clear choice for starting goaltender, which. was every shade of frustrating, but there was little that logan could do to contest it.

like thomas, the coach from Brown made it very clear to logan that hedid not have a place on the team. however, unlike coach thomas, the coach from Brown 1) said this to logan’s face, and 2) never said that logan becoming partof the team was an impossibility.

in other words, the coach didn’t really appreciate Logan’s entire demeanor – he read logan’s confidence as arrogance, and he was dismissive of logan’s frustrations – but he was willing to look past all of that in the future, providedlogan could PROVE he was good enough to play over time.

then, however, came joan.

joan scouted logan out after a year of following his high school career and a few weeks of observing him at Brown University’s open practices. they saw logan’s potential as a starting goaltender, saw his discontent with his status as a backup, and they suspected that, with the right offer, they would be able to persuade him to come play for the Aces. yet, when they contacted the coach from Brown Univeristy, the coach was… violently against trading his “prospect.”

joan argued and haggled with the coach for over a month before they finally struck a deal. logan moved schools in November – partly for the opportunity to finally play, partly because his father was growing increasingly agitated the longer that he remained as a backup – and he finished out his first semester as a Florida Ace. the rest is history.

((logan doesn’t have a chance to play against the team from Brown prior to hisconcussion. the Aces had already played them by the time he joined the team hisfreshman year, and he was concussed before facing them his sophomore year. ifhe EVER wants to face off against the other goalie, it’ll have to be the yearafter his concussion, which. may or may not be a possibility))

as far as his general life went, the first part of logan’s freshman year was largely spent in isolation. he didn’t have any friends coming out of high school – part of being the coach’s son meant that he came across as largely intimidating to his teammates, after all – and because he felt largely useless when he was part of the Brown University Bears, logan hesitated to form any connections there. moreover, because he only spent about 2 and a half months at Brown over all, he didn’t really strike up any long term friendships worth noting.

it wasn’t until the Aces forcibly pried him out of his shell that he actually had anything resembling “friends” – although even then, he hesitates to call them that (because friendship is supposed to go both ways, right? and he isn’t exactly useful for them at the moment.)
