Named after the song I associate with Poe a whole lot

Ranpo thinks of how his relationship to Poe has changed within six years and how Poe has changed the way he chooses to see the world. He ponders this after finding an old painting of his friend in an art exhibit, whilst on a case.

Also I added Oscar Wilde as the owner of the art exhibit. Why so there a Poe painting in an Oscar Wilde exhibit? Who’s to say? 👁️👁️

i always think about how ranpo just wanted to be understood his whole life. no one had come close, and even though ranpo loves the many people in his life he still found something missing, a hollow in his chest.

but when everything changes it shakes ranpo’s whole being, as poe sweeps into his life with keen intellect that almost rivals his. maybe ranpo will finally be understood, and accepted as he yearns?

Has there been a fic where the detective agency thinks Ranpo doesn't know Poe's feelings for him and get so annoyed with it (mostly yosano) to the point where they confront him about it and learn that yes, Ranpo does know, but no, they're not dating, because Ranpo doesn't think he deserves it?

Like, Ranpo knows objectively, yes, he can see the way Poe looks at him and cares for him, and of course objectively Poe is in love with him... but Poe can't be in love with him because he's not worthy of Poe's love. Because Poe deserves better than him.

And idk, maybe Poe overhears that I dunno.

Has there been a fic like that yet, because if so, I can't find it.
