I need some good ranpoe headcanons…. I just KNOW that Poe gets jealous easily. But it’s not the “you’re mine” jealous, it’s the “how dare you think you’re that close to Ranpo” kind. Honestly? Ranpo loves it, because he likes to play with Poe and say things just to make him more jealous and get a reaction out of him.

Poe is multilingual and he uses that to his advantage.

I don’t know what languages he would speak but let’s say he at least speaks Japanese, English, French and Spanish.(he would probably know more tbh)

Anyways he would use this to his advantage to call Ranpo names like darling or my sunshine. Like just couple names. They are not dating tho.

So like an example would be that Ranpo helps with Poes latest book and Poe would say "thanks, ma parole(my darling)"

Or like “<<starlight>> help me out over here”(<<>> means it’s in English)

And so on.(pls if you have more ideas tell me)

But continuing this idea the agency(who knows at least English) would catch on quickly but really just not say anything. Ranpo would try to ask them what Poe had just said but they would all just make up excuses or say they didn’t know.

Also the reason it would be hard for Ranpo to know what Poe is saying is that Poe constantly switches names and languages.(he has a hidden list of nicknames)

This would get to a point where Ranpo would get a dictionary of every language that Poe knew and when poe hits him with the ma parole and man starts flipping.

But also Poe(when their alone) would use this to confess to Ranpo. Or like go into great detail about Ranpos eyes. Of course Ranpo would get annoyed at Poe just talking to him in a different language for like 10 minutes that he did his best to learn at least the basics of some of the languages.

Which leads us to a scene where Poe is (kinda) confessing and Ranpo instead of shoving him off like he always does or questioning Poe just turns to him and in English “<<yes i accept.>>”

Poe is obviously stunned that Ranpo just replied in English and that he just excepted he confession. And Ranpo ,who is impatient, then kisses him and so on.

I am not done I have a little more for this.

Poe would entirely write about Ranpo but would always do it in another language so Ranpo couldn’t sneak around and read it.

Also Atsushi would entirely ask Poe for nicknames and pet names just to annoy Akutagawa.(this would actually be adorable and Atsushi would entirely use it because he knows that Akutagawa knows what he’s saying)

I imagine right after Poe and Ranpo got together Yosano threated to heal Poe like 40 times before she got rid of him if he ever were to hurt Ranpo in any way and he's just flushed and stuttering, trying to explain that he loves Ranpo very much and just wanted to bring his bf flowers at work but he is far too intimidated by the scary doctor lady. Yosano knows Poe is a good guy and probably helped to set them up but she's gotta look out for her bestie :)

- ranpo takes a lot of naps throughout his day (i just know it) and poe often stops whatever he’s doing joins him

- poe big spoon ranpo small spoon

- they tried joining book reading clubs in many libraries but they quit the idea because one chapter into the books and they already knew the whole plot

- ranpo is a terrible cook but still tries to do something for poe when he’s very tired (ofc poe loves it regardless of the taste)

- whenever they go on vacation and sleep in a hotel ranpo always eats everything inside the minibar and poe always sighs happily

- poe has brought ranpo snacks from america for him to try and he became obsessed with airheads, so every once in a while a huge ass box filled with airhead packages is delivered to their doorstep

- every week they dedicate one afternoon trying to solve those fake cases they sell online and when they get bored of that they watch crime documentaries

- poe loves olives, ranpo hates olives (i take ranpo as a picky eater)

- ranpo’s love language is quality time, so he is the one who plans most surprise dates

- on karl’s birthday, ranpo got him a little purple scarf and i swear poe almost cried

- poe writes down all the small details about ranpo, ranpo does too but he keeps them to himself

- they have the most adorable height difference oh my god

- type of couple to annoy every other one (bc they’re literally superior)

ranpo gets carsick very easily and it takes him quite some time to recover from it but he absolutely refuses to put down that book bc “i’m bored ed! you’re driving sooooo slowly!”

“but ranpo-san it’s not my fault. the speed limit is very low.”

and ranpo will scoff and whine and maybe even throw a small tantrum about the “stupid speed limits. stupid road. stupid laws. why can’t we just teleport like that nikolai guy does” but will definitely refuse to close the book and now they have to pull over bc ranpo has to throw up (spoilers: he probably can’t)

(i also hc that since he eats LOTS of snacks, his body is very used to nauseas so he just… can’t throw up anymore)

and poe knows he can’t throw up but he still pulls over every single time and holds ranpo’s hair very fucking patiently while he tries to throw up like an angry child

and maybe at some point, ranpo thinks poe might get annoyed bc poe can be squeamish (is this the right word???) but actually poe doesn’t mind it that much bc it’s ranpo. it’s not his fault. it’s just his body being a bitch.

Fukuzawa's sandals gently tapped the pavement of Yokohama's plaza as he strolled by a small ledge with a cat perched on the rails. As he peered into the cat's deep blue eyes, he staggered back, someone having bumped into him. He caught himself stealthily and glared up. The man staring at him curiously was Fitzgerald, the founder of the Guild. The two organization creators looked at each other for a hesitatingly awkward moment before resuming back to normal.

"Francis," Fukuzawa greeted. Fitzgerald chuckled. "I hear your kid is dating one of mine," Fitzgerald mentioned. Fukuzawa's eyes widened. Fukuzawa glanced back and forth. Ranpo? Was that who he meant? Fitzgerald heaved a sigh. "*Your kid*, Ranpo." Fitzgerald explained. Fukuzawa relaxed. "Do you mean Ranpo and Poe's current relationship?" Fukuzawa inquired. Fitzgerald nodded.

"What do you make of it?" Fukuzawa asked Fitzgerald casually. Fitzgerald shrugged. "I don't ever interact with Poe, as he's a very reserved person. I suppose that them dating makes sense, though," Fitzgerald declared. "I agree. They are an interesting match," Fukuzawa said.

Neither of them said anything for a brief moment. The paper-white cat Fukuzawa had been conversing with before hopped down from the ledge and wandered away. "I trust the Detective Agency will win the battle at hand," Fitzgerald said. Fukuzawa nodded confidently. "Give my regards to Poe," Fukuzawa murmured. Fitzgerald nodded and continued his travel to a local store with several on-sale items. Fukuzawa settled onto a bench and considered everything that had just happened. "Hmm.. Ranpo and Poe?" Fukuzawa thought. "I suppose I'd be fine with them being together."

That interaction was an interesting one. Founders of organizations that contain members using powerful abilities does not happen every day. Ranpo and Poe were indeed romancing, and everyone agreed with their dynamic. That was what had happened that fateful morning in Yokohama.

Ranpoe Wedding Idea

So I had this concept for Ranpoe’s wedding. 

I feel like they would go off on a normal case and one day they come back with matching rings. No one really notices except for Yosano. When the three of them are alone, she asks about the new jewelry and they tell her that they’re engaged. Poe would be generally happy/shy/giddy about it while Ranpo would be like “It was bound to happen, it’s no big deal” but also he’s really happy and proud. 

Yosano asks about what kind of wedding they were planning on. And they realize, they really never thought about the actual wedding bit. Without hesitation, Yosano brings out a big’ol book that has “Celebrations” on it. On the off chance anyone in the agency were to get married or have a life changing event in need of celebration, she and Kunikida set up a variety of potential plans for the occasion. From weddings to funerals, this book has it all.

Ranpo is A-ok with this as he doesn’t really want to go through the hassle of sitting down to plan a wedding. Poe is initially a bit overwhelmed by the concept, but is flattered by the thought being put into it. Still, he’s a bit hesitant saying that it could be alot and for Yauno to not worry about it too much. She insists it’s fine and the plans begin. 

Kunikida is in charge of the various bookings as well as the event schedule, Atsushi and Tanizaki are in charge of the guest list, Kenji and Kyouka are in charge of flower arrangements and decorations, Dasai and Yosano are in charge of food, and Ranpo and Poe can make any alterations as they see fit. 

Each agent had a little adventure with their tasks (Atsushi and Tanizaki getting into trouble trying to see if any of the guild members could come, Dasai not only thinking of poisoning the food but messing with Kunikida’s scheduling, as always, Kenji and Kyouka trying not to pick flowers that symbolize bad luck, lost love, death, or any bad omens in flower language, etc.), but ultimately had a lot of fun in the process.

Poe, a bit overwhelmed by it all, asked if he could be in charge of the outfits, specifically the ones he and Ranpoe would wear. Yosano had no objections and a little life seemed to return to Poe.

As everyone is running around trying to get this wedding together, coming up and asking Ranpo and Poe for inputs for themes, cakes, music, etc., It's becoming more and more noticeable to Ranpo that Poe is becoming uncomfortable, overwhelmed, and withdrawn. But Poe insists he’s alright and that he’s glad everyone’s having fun. 

Their wedding is to take place in the evening, a sunset wedding. The day of, Poe still seems off but is happy to give Ranpo his outfit. It’s so last minute because Poe kept making something, redoing it, redesigning something, adjusting something else, just wanting it to be perfect for his fiancé. He even made a little tie for Karl.

They get dressed in separate rooms, but they do meet one more time before they meet everyone who is waiting for them in another room.  When they see each other they are caught off guard by how beautiful the other looks. 

As Poe gazes at Ranpo, his nerves finally catch up to him. Ranpo asks if he’s ok and Poe finally relents and explains how all of this seemed a bit much and happened so quick and how he’s happy that everyone was supportive and kind and put in so much effort for their wedding, but he feels guilty for not wanting to go through with it, not that he doesn’t want to get married, it’s just..

At this point he has to prop himself up on the nearest desk to keep his legs from giving out.

Ranpo sighs, crosses his hands behind his head, and smiles. He walks past Poe saying “Did you know, all it takes to be married is to sign a few papers? Who even likes going to stuffy weddings.”

Poe looks at Ranpo. 

After a brief pause Ranpo continues, “I say we skip to the good part and find where they hid the cake.”

“But they did so much planning..”

“And they had fun planning. But it is our wedding…” Ranpo picks up Karl from nearby and puts him on Poe’s head with a soft smile. “And I say that makes us in charge!”

Poe slowly relaxes and begins to smile remembering how happy everyone was doing their tasks. 

With a deep breath, Poe agrees,“O-Ok.”

Yosano’s not even angry they didn’t show up to their own wedding, but it did tick off Kunikida. The rest of the agency was a bit concerned and went searching for the grooms. They later found the two eating the cake, slightly covered in it as they had smashed each other's face in the cake already.

Been thinkin about a Poe, Ranpo, and Dazai trio friendship lately…

(Because I needed to bring some happiness to my life. Please I can’t read the manga I can’t find it online anywhere and I got my info through tumblr screenshots can someone please tell me what exactly tf is going on —)

They’re all so smart but also all dumbasses at the same

90% of the time, Poe has the singular shared Braincell of Common Sense

4% of the time the braincell is lost and Dazai is leading the investigation to find it. 4% of the time the braincell is still lost and Ranpo has to take over the investigation to find it

(2% is shared between Dazai and Ranpo. They’re smart, but they have no common sense at all compared to Poe. Who is also lacking in the common sense department btw, because a single braincell is still just a singular braincell)

Listen, working together they could solve ten cases in a second flat. But at the same time, them working together to shop at a store to get weekly groceries would result in a lifelong ban for all of them (at least until Poe bribed the store lol)

Any time the trio go anywhere, ever, Dazai is third wheeling in the background of Ranpoe and loves being dramatic about it. He constantly walks approximately five feet away from where Ranpo and Poe are hanging out to make his point more clear, takes his phone out, takes a pictures, and definitely captions it with something stupid to send to them later

Example:

Dazai: *sends an image of when they were all hanging out at the aquarium together. Ranpo and Poe are holding hands while standing in front of a touch tank, facing away from the camera and into the water. Dazai has the most disgruntled expression his face has the capability to create*

Dazai: Come to the aquarium, they said. It’ll be fun, they said.

Ranpo: Shut up. You got to touch a stingray of course you had fun

Poe: plus I bought you that 6 foot squid at the giftshop

Ranpo: Yeah, Poe bought you that squid. Who couldn’t have fun after that?!

Dazai: excuse you, “that squid” has a NAME!!!! Her name is Squidwardette

(Poe, Ranpo, and Dazai def fight over custody of said 6-foot Squidwardette on the weekends)

((“I bought her. Isn’t that like bringing her into the world? I should have custody on the weekends.”

“HEY! YOU DO NOT GET WEEKENDS! That’s leaving me with all of the parent responsibilities on weekdays while you have fun on weekends! It’s not fair!”

“Well, me and Poe are a couple and can provide more stability in her life! What do you bring to the table? Being a sad single parent who can’t even get lai—”

“DON’T YOU DARE FINISH THAT SENTENCE!!!!!!”))

Despite the teasing, they all equally respect each other so much.

Dazai canonically respects Ranpo due to his intelligence not being dependent on an ability. He meets Poe and learns that A) his ability is not linked to his intelligence but to things he writes and B) he was almost able to defeat Ranpo. Dazai also canonically is not able to follow Ranpo’s thought process and keep up with him in certain parts of detective cases.

(He probably saw Poe as just another person to provoke and get a rise out of in the beginning since Poe’s so introverted around strangers. But then Dazai witnessed one of Poe’s… ahem. Passionate declarations of how great he is and how he's going to beat Ranpo one day and how he and Ranpo are the GREATEST RIVALS to ever exist despite being good friends and Dazai thought to himself. Oh. Cool. This one’s insane as well. Nice.) (Also, Ranpo has good taste in men)

(And then they were good friends ever since)

Ranpo just respects the two people who can actually keep up with him. And that he can get along with. Those are basically the two requirements for gaining Ranpo’s respect.

Poe respects anyone who Ranpo respects. His respect grew even more when, after Ranpo had finished solving yet another one of his manuscripts, Dazai asked to read one (because he wanted to make sure Poe was actually worth his salt and not just lying). Dazai of course solves it (though taking longer than Ranpo). Poe was probably a little bit upset at first since yet another person was able to best him, but quickly reassured himself it was just because it was a quick mystery he wrote up since Ranpo wanted one, and not the book he had spent 6 whole years writing like Ranpo had solved the first time. After getting over his shock, he definitely respected Dazai way more than before.

They would all help bail another of their group out if they got into trouble.

Poe: literally bailing them all out of prison

Ranpo: will literally bail from Poe and Dazai if he thinks their current weekend plans are too stupid. Don’t worry, he’ll come back later when they inevitably get into trouble with some sort of plan to get them out

Dazai: can talk his way out of almost any situation. If he can’t talk his way out, he can always turn to murder

Poe, Ranpo, and Dazai would all (and actually have) help each other hide a body, no questions asked. I will not elaborate.

i honestly believe that their dates looks like a some walk to a shop or a restaurant or candy store. sometimes they just stay in bed and plays who will know the answer to a murder case. while they’re outside they usually play games who can say more details about people they see there.
