Moondancer Stone AU

Okay so this is definitely the product of my autistic adhd brain thinking coming up with these crazy ideas and scenarios in my head but this is one that I feel most confident and proud of myself.

Basically to sum it up in short it's a dumb little headcanon I came up with where under the light of the full moon Stone is a sleepwalker. Aka him going up on the rooftops, jumping from house to house, doing pirouettes, while playing the violin pretty much just being the most graceful and well-coordinated he's ever been earning himself the nickname “The Moondancer”

Some Baldur's Gate Headcanons:

Playing through Baldur's Gate, I've been inventing lots of story bits in-between what we actually see of the character interactions, some based on my own ideas, some on posts I've seen going around.

My character became a warlock because he desperately wanted to learn magic, but he was too poor to attend wizard school and thought you had to "special" to become a wizard. After learning from Gale that anyone can learn magic, he's been voraciously learning magic from Gale.

Despite his outward persona, Astarion would be the person standing at the back while Karlach and Wyll are, "Excuse me, he said 'no pickles.'"

Karlach and Halsin both give out bone crunching hugs. Lae'zel and Astarion are the only people who never accept hugs.

Gale is the only person who won't get up in the morning until someone forcibly hands him coffee.

Astarion loves being up at the crack of dawn because this is the first time in 200 years that he can.

Wyll is also a paladin, because come on.

People will just sit down and tell Withers about their problems. He's a good listener, though his responses are. . . open to interpretation.

Halsin regularly turns into a bear and lets people use him as a sofa at night by the fire.

Can cook: Me, Halsin, Wyll.

Tries but burns everything: Shadowheart, Gale.

Won't cook: Astarion.

Not allowed to cook any more: Karlach, Lae'zel.

Demands McDonalds: Karlach, Gale.

We have food at home: Halsin, Wyll, Shadowheart.

One black coffee: Me, Lae'zel

I don't really go here. I read the first two books but couldn't really get into it.

But I do know about swords. And Gideon repeatedly refers to hers as a "two-hander," which, combined with the size and weight of it, and how she uses it, means that it is definitely either a claymore, greatsword, zweihander, or montante. Aka, what the guy on the left here is holding:

For point of reference, here's a practice fight between a longsword (left) and greatsword (right):

Given that Gideon's sword is described as being six feet long, greatsword or montante are actually the most likely, since the claymore was slightly shorter. As you might notice in the video, the greatsword is actually quite an elegant weapon when used correctly. (Historically, they were mostly used for crowd control or clearing pike blocks. Swinging that thing around clears a crowd real fast.)

(Also, in spite of its length, a greatsword only weighs about 2 kg (5 lb), so the fact that Harrow is incapable of lifting it is. Something.)

Anyway, if you be an artist, give Gideon a proper greatsword because they are cool af and also sexy.

There are two schools of thought on the locked tomb series; there are the people who took tazmuir at her word when she said gideon had a longsword and drew it as such; then there are the people who know what a longsword is and know that the thing gideon swings is at the bare minimum a fucking claymore.

No.1: Vinnie is usually the first to panic

while none of trio are 'in charge' -nor should they be- Vinnie does take the lead more often than Skipp or Stone do {these two also tend to look at her before taking action, which is actually adorable} so it's pretty cool to see she's not oblivious to dangerous situations like her archetype tends to lean into -> also Stone's totally contemplating breaking the window to get away from the pageant zombies

No.2: Stone is super protective, despite acting like he's not

but he does it in a way that doesn’t come across as thinking the other two are incapable, it’s more like: you totally could’ve dealt with that, but im right here so you don’t have to

No.3: Skipp isn’t helpless, nor is he treated as such

this is really awesome bc trios typically have that one character that’s really bright and bubbly but that’s also often infantilised by both their peers and the fandom -> Vinnie and Stone are totally confident in his feral capabilities though, and apart from briefly scolding him when it was necessary- they don’t treat Skipp like a child {which is an extremely refreshing change of pace}

No.4: ✨FOUND FAMILY✨

you got the black cat, doberman, and orange cat all in one with these silly guys! + stone's small smile when they fist bump, my heart!

No.5: The black cat is a softie

surprising absolutely no one, Stone has a hard time saying no to his family. that's not to say he can't express a boundary, like how he feels about physical touch, but he does let Vinnie and Skipp cling to him for brief intervals -> he also is already accepting that Maggot's going to be a fixture from as soon as the other two are leaving the alley way

all in all, this pilot does a mind-blowing job of portraying archetypes in a new and refreshing way that doesn't feel forced -> the animation style is beautiful, the characters are multifaceted and complex and it walks the line between silly and badass perfectly

i really like how canonically yuu is genuinely supportive of grim wanting to be a great mage. if i recall correctly, even character voice lines point this out. and it seems like yuu dotes on grim a lot and defends him too??? yuu even encourages grim's ambitions whenever he declares wanting to be a great mage. and also when he does that boss-henchhuman dynamic. i mean yeah you can interpret it as yuu saying that being condescending and sarcastic as if they're talking to a child saying "when i grow up i want to be famous!" but like. i really think they're genuine when mc loves grim in their own way.

even if grim is usually a menace, he's become like family to yuu.

and i'm pretty sure grim feels the same way.

think about it this way. despite all the mess, all the unpredictability, the danger, and all the drama being in nrc. what's always the constant? yuu goes home at the end of the day to the ramshackle dorm (basically their home at this point considering they slowly but surely fix it up over time) and with who? “the great mage” grim. as the sole outcasts in that academy, they both sleep soundly knowing they will always have each other at the end of the day.

🐉🌸♀️ With him being the kind of husband whose neverending favorite story to brag about to every new person he meets is how much of a miraculous fate it was that he was born much much later than he should have, just in time to attend NRC the same time as you did. You who stumbled upon a world that isn't yours, stayed at an abandoned dorm he in particular happened to frequent, and went outside for fresh air at the exact same moment he was passing by. He wouldn't get tired of how amazed he was that he found his princess in a school full of men, of all places. If that isn't fate, then what is?

And that's just the prequel to a long, long talk of him just reminiscing your time together at NRC with astonishing detail. He goes through it every holiday. Every Halloween. Every New Year's. Every birthday. Basically every opportunity he gets. It comes to a point where your children finish his sentences for him. It comes to a point where novels and plays and movies get made with your love story as the blueprint.

Your story gets so dramaticized and embellished that it barely resembles your memories anymore. And honestly? You prefer it that way. Nobody else but you and him will know what exactly happened between you two, and it will remain a precious memory-- a sort of secret, that the two of you will look back on fondly for the rest of your days.

alright ramshackle fans (mostly for the stone fans) im ready to break your hearts with some sad theories and headcanons so angst fanfiction writers and artists take this and do with it what you will. this is one of the headcanons i feel most confident in and most proud about so tell me what you think. the theory that the necklace that stone wears around his neck isn't actually a medallion but rather its a dog tag from his deceased pet (i think people do in fact make jewelry using tags from their passed pets as a means to keep their loved ones close even in death) lets be honest im pretty sure stone would grieve far more about the loss of losing a dog than give a rats ass about his horrible biological shithole family. im pretty sure it would be one of the more traumatic moments in his young life knowing his only sense of comfort and safety is cruelly slipped away and taken from his grasp while he had to sit there and watch as he could do nothing to save them. before he got addicted to drugs and alcohol as a means to progress through life after running away from home. (important note: stone does not hate cats he just prefers dogs over them because he grew up with them)

I am having so many feelings about this chapter.

Getting to see Rei, Natsuo, and Fuyumi finally take an active role in their family to this extent is heart wrenching. The honest pain they're all in and the different emotions it's showing up as. The fact that Enji might just finally be starting to realize that he doesn't have to be the big man who does everything alone. The way that this is tying into the idea that you can't just save someone's body, you also have to save their heart.

Desperate to see what happens when Shouto arrives. My speculation is that it's going to start badly, because a lot of Touya's anger at his family has been redirected towards Shouto. Resolving that anger is going to be key to saving Touya though, because at some point he's going to have to let it go. There's a beautiful irony in the fact that they would have switched places in a heartbeat as kids: Touya being the apple of his father's eye and Shouto just wanting to be with his siblings.

i was rewatching tangled and i thought that yuu and crowley r kind of similar to mother gothel and rapunzel listen to me i beg

yuu is stuck in twst , so they have essentially no way out and if they fight back, crowley gives them a sort of “oh but im doing this and im so generous” thing yk, like mother gothel he’s saying “i do this because im so generous and i care” literally listen to mother knows best you’ll notice here’s some lyrics in particular

“i only bathed, and changed and nursed you, go ahead and leave me, i deserve it, let me die alone here” crowley acting like he’s given so much to yuu, giving them a rundown dorm to live in ect ect

”on your own you won’t survive,” yuu literally having no where else to go. crowley convincing them that they can’t leave nrc

and of course, “mother knows best.” after all, crowley is the head mage for a reason, he’s doing this all in your best interest. /sarc

this is more fanfic / headcanon territory but you could also headcanon that crowley just tells yuu out of context stuff about twst that makes it seem a lot scarier than it is , like say yuu tries to like go somewhere that isn’t school related and takes advantage of the fact they’ve been through a lot of overblots and would in my opinion, have an understandable fear of a certain degree

with this headcanon I’d like you to consider the “also large bugs! men with pointy teeth and STOP! No more you’ll just upset me!” line. i mean u kinda already have ppl with pointy teeth here crowley but anyway it’s a shine of light at his hypocrisy in this . Also the fact that mother gothel says it so much like crowley please

What exactly happened at Ramshackle?

I have a theory as to why the place is large enough to be a dorm with a large enough property as well. Back when NRC was established, it used to have magic and magicless students attending. Ramshackle was the dorm for magicless students and it wasn't called Ramshackle back then. It was still heavily based on magic, but still had activities for those without it. They weren't fully ostracized by their peers and were welcome into these spaces.

But some magicless students still wanted to be included in all activities and so, using one of the forbidden books in the library (before they became forbidden), they found a way to become able to wield magic and gave it to every single magicless student. But something went wrong in the end and they died, due to their body not being able to process something they've never had. Most overblotted, some the magic ate away at their bodies like a parasite, others tried a find a way to get rid of it and ended up disappearing.

It was the greatest tragedy NRC had ever seen for a newly established school. After that, the school began to house only those who had magic and Ramshackle fell into ruin and disrepair. Out of respect for those who died or out of fear of their lingering wailing ghosts, who knows. But it remained untouched for years until the mirror pulled someone from another world into the school.
