Lyutsifer Safin X Reader Angsty Decision Prompt [Shorter]
!TW: Implied murder, word ‘killed’/use of word ‘killed’ and ‘hurt’, implied suffering from depression!
“If you at least told me who they were maybe I’d be less angry,” you suggested, and Safin frowned, before he shook his head gravely.
“All I can say is,” he began nervously, “do not look for healing at the feet of those who broke you.”
You faltered, realising what he meant. “Safin, were they-”
He grimaced, before nodding his head. “They had to go, Y/n,” he stated, referring to Spectre. “Knowing that they were still alive was getting to me,” he expressed, and frowned when he noticed that you still seemed skeptical of him.
“But - It’s still-” You murmured, before stepping closer to him, prompting him to tense up slightly. “Just please stop this operation, Safin,” you practically pleaded, “you don’t have to hurt anyone else, you already killed Spectre-”
“I can’t stop it, Y/n,” he interrupted, a hint of frustration in his voice. “It’s as hard as me trying to convince myself I’m allowed to take up space after I lost my family,” he claimed, “and as hard as me trying to write with my left hand when I was born to use my right.” Safin glanced up at you, a pained expression on his face. “Do you think you could ever forgive me, kitten?” Safin inquired, hopeful, but he began to lose hope when he noticed the shocked expression on your face.
“I - I..” You whispered; you didn’t know how to answer.
Safin reluctantly stepped closer to you, and you found you couldn’t look up at him; your gaze was glued to the floor. “Please don’t lie to me, Y/n, if you feel you have to,” he continued, “we began with honesty, so let us end with it, too, if you feel you can’t stay with me anymore.”
You hesitated, before you shook your head; you felt as if you couldn’t leave him, despite what he was planning; you were just hoping you could change his mind before he carried his plan out. “I don’t want to leave you, Safin,” you expressed, “because-” You faltered, not sure if you should include the part about your feelings for him, “I’m worried about you, you have sadness living in places sadness shouldn’t live.”
Safin would be surprised; he had been certain that you’d decide to leave, and never thought that you would want to stay with him, though he was pleased that you wanted to. “Are you sure you want to stay, Y/n?” Safin inquired, wanting to make sure that that was what you truly wanted to do. You would think about it for a moment, before you nodded, certain. Safin couldn’t help, but smile thinly, and when he felt as if he could, he stepped closer to you, tilting his head partially. “Why?” He questioned, and you faltered, rubbing your arm. “It can’t just be because you’re worried about someone like me, after what I did to you before,” he stated, a pained expression on his face; he regretted more than anything how he’d treated you before he decided he could trust you after experiencing strange new feelings for you.
“Well, it is,” you replied dismissively, “can I - go back to my room now?” You requested, and Safin assumed that you must be tired, nodding gravely. “Thank you,” you expressed, before respectfully bowing your head, though you didn’t know why you’d even bothered to do so. “Night,” you concluded, and he returned with ‘night, angel,’ softly.
~~~~~
Hope you enjoyed this prompt! ❤️
{Every Night... The Exhibits Come To Life}
So... as a history nerd the Night at the Museum movies always had a special place in my heart. In my quest to create a couple of print designs for my first shot as a convention artist I came back to this passion and especially to my dearest Ahkmenrah <3
GENERAL NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM HEADCANONS - Main 7 characters
SUMMARY: Just some headcanons I have always had based on the characters and the way the movie portrays them.
If you would like to request more characters, please refer to my NATM MASTERLIST for the characters, and send your request!
WARNINGS: Fluff, angst, romance, discussions of trauma, funny moments, flashbacks, mentions of loss, mentions of betrayal, mentions of homesickness, reader is mentioned a bit. My opinions! 😱
Any facts I wasn't sure of I used wiki fandom!
AHKMENRAH:
As many people have suggested, Ahk is a HUGE cat person. Before he was left in the sarcophagus for 4000 years, he had 100s and 1000s of cats. Different breads, both female and male, long royal names for each one. But his favourite will always be his childhood cat that started his love for the feline animal.
Out of all characters, Ahk experiences the most homesickness. This could be because he was barely 18 before he died, so he still has a touch of childhood in his soul.
Always ready and eager to learn something new, or info dump on the closest set of ears. When he gets with reader, he waits patiently for the “safe zone” to spill every fact about his time. Also things he read in books at Cambridge and the museum. You could call him a broken tap!
One way that calms him down is humming nursery rhymes, and songs his Mother used to sing to him. The main time it works impeccably is when he thinks of his brother’s betrayal.
Since the tablet was first created, his (along with his family) soul has always had a strong connection to night. So he goes to the roof top, or a window and star gazes anytime he can.
Ahkmenrah will defend the Kardashian and Jenner women until the end of time (if you know, you know 😂).
When he is introduced to chocolate, Garlic bread, sour gummy candies and Iced water. He felt like he met heaven.
Is very serious, yet still his usual gentle and kind self, when it comes to romantic relationships. He will take each step at a time, really wanting to get to know his potential partner. Consent Pharaoh, drinks his “I respect women” juice, will ask you to be his officially at the four month mark, and will not kiss your lips until you are official.
Absolutely dreads sunrise, as the wraps take as he would say “a whole millennium” to get them back on. At the beginning he would get Teddy and Larry to help him, but it becomes a special thing between him and reader.
Ahk most likely feels the most safe and comfortable around Larry, as he has moments where he needs advice or guidance from a father figure.
Ahkmenrah loves a good, lighthearted, non offensive prank. When he and Nick hang out, chaos will follow.
Both Sacagawea and Ahkmenrah supported each other when getting adjusted to not being trapped in their exhibits. This started their friendship.
When he became a DJ, he felt his death age the most. He found a passion that he could learn, perfect and show it off to the people he cares most about
OCTAVIUS:
Octavius talks about Rome so much that he definitely fits the stereotype of “you make your background your whole personality”. He will get defensive if the stereotype is mentioned.
If he and Jed were to be parents, they would 100% have adopted 2 Girls and 2 boys. Octavius would surprisingly be the fun Dad.
Before Larry, he had a massive hatred towards the night guards. He was fine with being locked up, he had his comrades. What angered him was the derogatory comments made by the guards. It took months upon months to wake up and not be filled with immediate dread.
He is a BIG chick flick fan! He also loves the whole concept of Christmas, so his favourite flick would be Love Actually.
He can read Dexter like an open book. he learns the signs of Dexter’s cheeky behavior to avoid another “Pompeii” situation.
Each time he hears any sword noises he smiles to himself and whispers to himself, “Ah Rome, you were a wonderful empire to be apart of”
He is also an avid info dumper, so there can be hours of time where he and Ahkmenrah bond over their “ancient times”. The 2 find so many similarities and differences that leave them fascinated to learn more.
The Cowboy hat rule, also applies for his helmet. And he will only take it off for extended periods of time if Jedediah is present. This is because he would kill for a head scratch.
Octavius will slip into Latin whenever he is feeling intense levels of emotion (positive). The amount of times it has happened, has resulted in everyone, including reader, being able to understand the language and somewhat communicate.
He uses the Latin version of pet names for Jed. He mainly uses “Amica mea” (my love), “Puer meus vacca” (my cowboy), “Solis radius” (sun ray) and “Mutum Asinum” (dumb ass).
Octavius is the type to bottle his emotions when something has deeply upset him. It takes a lot to get him to take the cap off and explain why he is feeling the way he is.
Octavius is super supportive of other religions and cultures. Which is super rare given Romans pride themselves on their religion and culture above everything.
When Octavius discovered the front desks computer, he immediately (with great struggle since the apparatus had not been made yet) he became so obsessed with it you could call him a teenager. He honestly gatekept it for ages before he found something that Jedediah would like and then it became their fun activity before sunrise.
JEDEDIAH:
Jedediah definitely has ADHD to a certain degree (This is coming from someone who is definitely has it but has yet to be officially diagnosed 😂), and has to be redirected to the main topic at least 3 times a day.
When he was trapped in the hourglass by Kahmunrah, he did everything in his power to cause havoc. Jedediah wasn't stuck with Kahmunrah, Kahmunrah was stuck with Jedediah!!
When Octavius showed him he computer, he consumed every piece of western media as he wanted to know how people perceived his time period.
He gets along with everyone, and only hates people if they have treated the people he cares about in a negative way. He is more then willing to take the blame or pain for others.
Jed will take a secret to his grave, but he will sometimes tell Octavius so technically they will be taking it to the grave. He will not tell him if the person who confided in him, was going through a difficult time. He understands boundaries...to a certain extent.
Jed is a HUGE foodie, and has a tendency to say "are you going to finish that?" even if the person eating is literally chewing their food. he would kill for anything that has an element of bread. Hence why he doesn't shut up about flapjacks.
His way of showing he is really angry or upset is going completely, utterly, eerily silent. It honestly makes people get the creeps, since they are so used to his upbeat usual self.
He can feel lost at times in regards to being a museum exhibit. He has organic thoughts of the future, but then he remembers he's a miniature figurine and feels this overwhelming sense of identity dysphoria. Reader (who is either another night guard or a child of a staff member) helps him feel more human, with a sense of purpose.
His favourite western movie is Tombstone, and quotes "I'm your Huckleberry" whenever people call for him. it brings him immense joy.
In his time, I see him having a female dog named Bonnie and a male cat named Blaize. He mentions this to Larry and he sends in a request at the sculpting department to make them for him. Larry makes sure no detail is left unadded. When Jedediah wakes up 2 nights later he is greeted with the familiar bark, and meow that he remembered so clearly.
Jed has an assigned swear jar and adds to it 20+ times a night.
ATTILA:
ATTILA IS INSANLY GOOD WITH KIDS! He has that scene at the end of the second movie, which backs me up here. But even before then I got this vibe that if you accidently left your child near his exhibit, he would be the Tony Stark of the museum and think "Get me the adoption papers now!".
When Attila and the Huns discovered Harry potter, they became obsessed as it fits their belief in magic. They have watched all seven movies a concerning amount of time each.
Attila was a huge help with getting Ahkmenrah adjusted to his new normal. When he first noticed Ahk's struggles he didn't think twice before he put a hand on his shoulder, asked him to go for a walk and got him to open up. He is like the uncle you go to when your parents "Just don't get it!".
Attila 100% has a RIWTKYF, "Resting I Want To Kill You Face". This has been one of many reasons why some of his friendships with the other exhibits took a while to come to fruition.
When Nick was still young, he politely asked Attila if he could try on his helmet. Larry tried to lecture him, stating "It is sacred Nick, that is not ok". Larry received a slap to the back of the head by Attila, with a "Shush". He placed the Helmet on Nicks head and told the Huns "He is the leader for the night!". Nick Had a blast to say the least.
Speaking of Attila's Helmet, he has heard a lot of drama sessions from Jed and Octavius. sometimes he joins in, sometimes he is happy to just listen.
Attila lowkey can't stand the Neaderthal's constant "FIRE FIRE FIRE" sometimes. He can hear it either next to him or down the hallway and it gives him a serious headache. Ahk will offer his exhibit for some relief.
Before Attila passed away he had just been married, so he often wonders what happened to his wife and misses her deeply. Larry and reader enjoy reading books to him, so he knows about her life. He left the room with a smile that didn't quite meet his eyes.
Teddy and Attila definitely have conversations/interactions that show they are stuck in their 40s/50s. I'm talking getting frustrated with technology, not understanding modern day slang, saying "Back in my day" and the "Dad grunt".
If Attila discovered music, he would LOVE the band The Village people, his favourite song is "In the navy". He asks Larry or reader to put the song on by pointing to the computer saying "Navy please".
Attila had the hardest time adjusting to waking up from the tablet. because he also needed to take care of his Huns. He pretended to be strong and that the whole situation wasn't affecting him at all, when in reality he was losing it inside.
SACAGAWEA:
Sacagawea was so relived when the glass on her exhibit wasn’t fixed. She was dreading going back to only hearing the Clark brothers yapping.
Sacagawea was low key checking Teddy out to, but the glass was stopping her from getting his attention.
When Sacagawea meets reader (for the sake of the point reader has ribcage length hair) she is so happy to meet another woman, that her way of bonding is offering to braid readers hair. As she braids they talk and get to know each other.
She may be a soft spoken and rational person but get her mad, and she her voice will ring in her ears for weeks.
Sacagawea got a photo of Teddy, and hid it in her clothes when the tablet wasn’t in the museum and in London.
Ahkmenrah, Sacagawea and Teddy create a “new exhibit adjustment program” for new or moved exhibits. They would’ve love that, so they started it for them to fill that void.
Sacagawea is always the logical voice of reason when there is a difficult situation happening. Let’s just say that the men of the museum would be done for without her 😂
When Sacagawea first sees a woman in pants she is so happy to know that women get to do the same things as men in modern day. Reader loves explaining the history of feminism.
Sacagawea’s love language with Teddy is acts of service, which we get a taste for when she helps connect his lower body back to his upper body. Teddy is still trying to give her the perfect thank you gift, but she kindly refuses them saying she is happy to just be with him.
She has the job of scolding Dexter when he’s being naughty because he is low key scared of her.
When she discovers music and movies she loves 70s soft pop and action romance.
Her way of knowing how fast time was going was watching Nick grow up. Each time she noticed even the smaller changes in his appearance, voice or personality Sacagawea would feel a huge shift in time.
TEDDY:
Teddy requests a newspaper that has the current state of the US’ politics. He has on many occasions thrown it in the air, walked towards the door screaming “I AM GOING TO TEACH THEM HOW TO RUN A CONTRY!”. Lucky Sacagawea has stopped him every time.
When he gives advice it’s either well thought out and considerate of one’s emotions, or he is straight to the point and cutthroat. Absolutely no in between.
Teddy and Ahk had a very awkward period of time because Teddy felt bad for shutting him up instead of helping him get out of his sarcophagus. Ahk being Ahk put it passed him and they got on like a house on fire.
When everyone dances and has fun, he is more happy to be watching on the side. He claims he’s “to old” to be dancing, reader disagrees and gets him to let loose on the dance floor!
He started the swear jar for Jed, as he got sick of “Fuck this” “shit” “asshole!” Every single sentence. Once the jar was full he took the money and put it towards the upkeep of the museum. His way of paying for something as it made him feel human again.
He definitely called MEMEs “Meh Mehs” for the first year of knowing about them.
He couldn’t find Sir Lancelot serious at all!! Every time he spoke Teddy covered his mouth to hide his smile or laugh. He was so close to calling him “The fool” “sir Erik” or “Jingle-elot”.
Teddy’s hat or pockets are Jedediah and Octavius’s backup travel option if Attila was unable to help with transportation.
His role in the NEAP is to show the new exhibit around and get them adjusted to the place they will temporarily/permanently call home for their time there.
When he first Jump scared Larry, he realised how evilly joyful it was and makes it his mission to scare him every night.
Teddy’s way of passing time before getting ready for sunrise is making sure Texas is looking sharp and clean. He enjoys having a quiet conversation while he listens to the brush run through Texas’ Maine.
After the “At their size, they’ll bake like tiny little scarabs in the Sinai…too dark?” Moment with Ahkmenrah. He can be a little scared of him at times 😂
He loves the 3 seconds of “warmth” the sun gives him before he goes to sleep. Thats when he feels most human.
LARRY:
Larry after a while had the realisation that the instructions were actually the ways the prior guards used to punish them, and burned it. From this he wrote a whole new instruction guide to help the newer guards after him.
He has created a schedule for the Easter island statue because there were some close calls near sunrise. But he won’t stop giving him his “Gum Gum” as it causes the worst earthquakes from his screams!
He may have a love-hate relationship with Dexter, but he is ready to defend the capuchin with his whole heart.
When Nick was young he set up a little “bedroom” for him so he could sleep there on school nights and not be affected the next day. Is incredibly lenient to letting him have a sleep in or skip school when there is a reasonable gap between each time.
When Mr McPhee has pissed him off a little too much, he has 100% planned ways to beat home up or kill him.
He has shown the civil war dudes what NASCAR is and they become obsessed. He feels really proud of himself for it.
Shit talks about Kahmunrah with Ahkmenrah. They have the an ungodly amount of glee from it.
He cannot hold a romantic relationship to save his life! But once he starts teaching he meets his forever partner at the front desk of the collage he works at 7 years into the job. Nick approved immediately.
He took inspiration from Star Wars for his flashlight tricks, and will on occasion make lightsaber noises.
It still trips Larry out that’s he met, made eye contact and spoke to Hugh Jackman, and sometimes he needs to sit down and process it.
He loves to put on Kahmunrah’s lisp from time to time to make jedediah laugh when he’s feeling down. Jed is always left in stitches after.
He has nightmares of the multi-headed snake at least once a month. This causes him to develop a deep fare of snakes in general.
-
I hope these Headcanons were good!
A passion for exploration
(Known in my notes as ahkaeology)
Pairing: Ahkmenrah X reader
Warnings(?): Grave robbing
A/N: okay okay I know it's really odd that a wednesday blog is now posting for natm but I went down a rabbit hole and I'm afraid I lost the entrance. History nerd has shown through well and truly :')
Also my first multi part fic :D
Title is courtesy of my mate Abi using AI
Ch 1
Grave robbing
Was desecrating the tombs of these once honoured, omnipotent kings of Egypt really something you were willing to do? Had the circumstances preceding the grave robbery been less bleak, the answer would have undoubtedly been an definitive no. These rulers commanded the uptmost respect in life, and here you were, excavating the only memory that remained. There wasn't a day that went by during your expedition in which guilt did not infiltrate your mind, suffocating your conscience and depriving you of any sleep, even before you came close to finding an ancient tomb. But it wasn't like you had any other choice.
Pushing down your gnawing feelings of dread, you trekked on through the Egyptian desert. Rough sand brushed against your lower legs beneath your simple, calf-length skirt, chafing at the skin. You were the only one of the troupe resigned to walking, as the youngest and the lowest class. Astride camels, the two men had a better view of the surrounding plains, though the blank, barren flats stretched on long beyond the horizon.
"The valley of the kings shan't be too far from this place" called Lord Carnarvon, map still in hand.
You held back a scoff, rolling your eyes as you knew he wasn't looking at you. If only he would admit none of you knew where you were going. The only clue you were given was that the gold rich landmark was announced by a grand pyramid at the end of a hollowed valley consisting of a multitude of others. What a shame that this was the Egyptian desert.
Filled with pyramids.
Days and days stretched on of travel, and eventually, you stopped counting the sunrises, resigning to the fact that this would only stop when the valley was found, however long that took.
As with most great things, the discovery of the valley occurred at a time when you least expected. You had taken advantage of a small oasis, resting for a few hours and permitting the camels an indulgent drink. Howard Carter dozed beside you, hat pulled low over his face, in order to shield his resting eyes from the blazing fire of the sun. Carnarvon had taken his liberty and ran off, or so you had hoped. No, in fact he was continuing the investigation alone and on foot, clutching a worn, shoddy map, which was twinged a grimey brown with years of filth accumulated around the edges of the paper. He never strayed far, though attempted to work out his bearings, using the wind or some pretentious bullshit you never bothered listening to. No, you were perfectly content drawing in the sand with a stick you had found and claimed an hour or so prior.
You were more than unimpressed when the sketches you had so tediously etched into the sand were scattered by Carnarvon sprinting back to the small camp. Jolted awake, Carter sat up sharply, alarm etched across his features.
"Blimey, good sir! You gave me quite the fright!" He exclaimed as you nodded in agreement.
"Are you alright?" You asked, though your eyes may have given away your disinterest (had either man been paying an ounce of attention).
"Shh!" Carnarvon interrupted your pleasant concern, to which you rolled your eyes and began attempting to recover your drawings. "Carter, good sir! I dare say I've found it. I've discovered the pyramid!"
A bold statement, and not the first time either. No, twice prior you had been dragged into the colossal ancient skyscrapers, only to find they were far from your true destination. Empty of any treasure or historical worth beyond the buildings themselves, you continued on, fruitless. Grand structures were quite an obvious goldmine, and previous grave robbers had left the tombs void of, well, anything.
Though of course, it was more than worth it to explore this fresh discovery, not taking any chances.
Time was of the essence, or so you were told. Camels saddled up in record time, you were hoisted up from your seat on the floor by Carter, borderline dragged up.
"Come, young Y/N, you heard his lordship. We may have found the Valley. Hurry on, now" his words were gentle, still treating you as he had done in your childhood, despite the fact you were now 19. It was something that you both appreciated and hated simultaneously. Howard was kind to you, much more so than Lord Carnarvon, who cared as little for you as you did for him. The mutual disinterested made for some long, awkward silences, and many threats to leave you in an unknown grave.
Still dragging you by the arm, Carter began to untie his camel, before finally letting go of you. The rush was honestly needless, you had been expeditioning for months at the least, what harm would a few mere minutes cause? But the men were adamant, and there was no arguing, especially not from a useless child as yourself.
"Can I at least keep my stick?"
Recieving no reply from Carnarvon and an incredulous stare from Carter, you concluded the answer was yes.
The journey from the oasis to the pyramid was shorter than anticipated, though still rather long. Another day passed, spent entirely wandering through the desert. Exhaustion washed over your entire body, and it was a war every minute to keep your eyes open. But, alas, you must continue, and eventually your trek drew to a close as with further examination, it became clear this pyramid was not what you were searching for.
Disappointment and rage filled Carnarvon upon the realisation that this was, in fact, not the Valley of the Gates of the Kings, but rather a singular, sandy pyramid. "Why, there must be some mistake!" He complained impetuantly, always one to shift blame elsewhere. You exchanged a look with Carter, who for once was willing to admit the incompetence of the troupe's leader. After all, what were the chances that a random pyramid would mark the infamous, esteemed valley?
From a distance it appeared mighty, though in fact that was more than likely a mirage caused by the monochromatic nature if the desert. Upon further examination, however, the pyramid was far from the grandeur anticipated by Carnarvon and Carter. Huge gashes and rifts in the brickwork jumped out from metres away. Crumbling brickwork was cratered, resembling a sponge with many holes, as dusty gravel avalanched down the sides of the architecture at every other interval. Overall it was worn and aged, therefore more likely to be looted and barren.
"I do say it's worth taking a look around, my lord." You spoke, addressing him clearly. Carnarvon waved his hand dismissively, wishing you out of his presence.
"Yes, yes. Go ahead child." Did you expect that? No. Did you need to be told twice? Also no. A small grin gracing your features, you took off into the pyramid.
Racing across the gravely surface of the desert, the sand provided a slight level of resistance. Nevertheless, you persevered onwards, stride refusing to falter. Basking in the glorious heat of the warm Egyptian sun's rays casting down on your face, you closed your eyes as you ran, chin tilted upwards. Naturally, this obscured your vision, rendering you blind, and therefore leading you to miss the gaping hole in the ground.
A short squeala of surprise passed your lips as you suddenly found yourself unexpectedly falling through the earth. The drop was rather long, and you landed in a heap on the floor of the dugout with a large thud. You weren't aware of how long you were unconscious, but judging by the severe lack of any source of light, sunset had passed. Pain shot through your body, coarsing through your veins and ricocheting off each of your bones in turn. Head pounding, you groaned slightly, trying to work out what in the hell just happened to you.
Darkness continued to fill the room, prompting you to fish within one of your pockets, pulling out a match and striking it aflame. The hidden chamber was large, that much you could tell even despite the dim lighting. Blinking twice as you began to, very slightly, register your surroundings, you noticed the sheer obscurity of this interior. You'd heard of the saying 'paintings that seemed to follow you around the room', but this gave a new meaning to those words.
No, wait.
Those paintings were moving, and not metaphorically. Eyes widening, you began to notice everything in the tomb writhing like a cluster of cobras. Onyx black cats prowled upon shelves, worn linen bandages slowly unfurling from being bound around each of their limbs. Animated drawings of men, deities and horses alike moved naturally, as though it were a perfectly normal occurrence. Shabti servants, the colour of oxidised copper and ranging from 5-30cm tall formed an army scattered throughout the tomb. Then, slowly, as though delaying the inevitable, your eyes trained upon it.
The sarcophagus.
Shuffling away rapidly, your back hit the decrepit wall of the hidden grave. The embodiment of terror plastered over your face, you watched in horror as the coffin began to violently shake. Your blood ran cold as bangs from the inside began to echo across the acoustic chamber. The rusted hinges were worn and flimsy, and the bolts began to unscrew from their holdings. Padlocks had become frail with ages and popped open, one almost smacking you square in the forehead, to which you responded with a short yelp. For a moment, all movement ceased, as though whatever was inside had begun to listen to the intruder in their grave. You took liberty of the fleeting moment, and began to craft a way out. The quiet was short lived, however, as, with one final, mighty heave, the final lock was broken.
The sarcophagus had been opened.
Your breath caught in your throat, the air thick and suffocating as you watched a wrapped hand emerge from the tomb. The coffin lid was ajar, though it didn't take much pushing to be removed almost entirely. Almost at once, the creatures residing in the grave marched forward, crowding their newly awoken master. Hidden in the shadows, you froze, hoping to remain unseen and ignored, and thus leaving unscathed. Soon enough Carter and Carnarvon were bound to find you?
Right?
A huge open grave couldn't be subtle, you only missed it as you eyes were closed. A stupid decision really, and you mentally cursed yourself.
You remained rooted to the spot on the freezing floor, as the reanimated corpse continued to rise from its grave. Surely this was an affect of your concussion; for all you knew this was just an unconscious dream. Besides, with all the travel in the desert, dehydration had undoubtedly left you delirious. It was at that split second of slight relaxation (if you could call it that) in which you spied the piles of treasure sloping at every corner of the tomb. What could you say - you were a grave robber. Carnarvon would be so proud - if you returned alive that was.
It began to claw at the ancient, frayed linen covering its face, causing your heart to race: it thumped so hard you swore you'd be given away. Praying you didn't go into cardiac arrest, you continued staring bug-eyed as the bandages unfurled in front of you, like the dramatic unveiling of an innovative new invention. Closing your eyes for the second time that day, you winced, raising your arms to shield your face from the horrors you were undoubtedly about to witness. Bile rose in your throat as your mouth drew dry. Images of rancid, rotting flesh peeling off bones flashed through your mind, prompting your whole body to tremble.
'I'm just delirious. Any moment now I'll open my eyes to be met with a chamber of riches.' You thought to yourself. Awoken mummies were the stuff of fairytales, and despite what Carnarvon and Carter believed, you were most certainly not a child.
Your internal monologue was cut short however, interrupted by the gentlest of touches placed on your arm. It prompted you to flinch away instantaneously, a soft whimper escaping. Eyes shooting open, you came face to face with the pharoah himself. And he was not what you had anticipated.
He wasn't the scary mummy you were expecting, he was a teenage kid.
Kind, cerulean eyes rimmed with a smoky black eyeliner stared into your own, azure oceans plagued with concern. Concern for you. Such a colour must have been pricelessly rare, sapphires amongst stones.
His golden, tanned hand had felt cold and lifeless against your arm, yet the heat it had radiated was electrifying, continuing to shoot jolts throughout your entire body. His skin was soft and smooth, betraying the fact that this royal had almost certainly never worked a day in his life.
Slightly unruly brown curls and a toned slender figure - he was actually rather cute.
"Are you alright? You seem a little... Lost?" He queried, to which you seemed unable to form a response.
"I- what.. who? What's going on?" You managed, stumbling over your words as your voice cracked slightly.
He gave a small smile, clearly sympathetic of your utter confusion, before gesturing at a golden tablet, as though that were supposed to help you in any way. Noting your expression of utter bewilderment, the undead Pharaoh elaborated.
"That's my tablet, blessed by Khonsu himself. It holds the power to awake the dead at night," he gestures to himself and the cats, who stared at you, blinking and unsure whether it would be safe for them to approach. Then, he pointed to the paintings in the walls and dragged his finger towards the mass of shabti dolls, both of which watched you with the same confusion. "Along with anything else resembling a life form that finds it's way into the presence of the tablet."
"Right." You answered, holding your head and still in shock.
"You needn't be afraid, you know. I'm not going to hurt you."
"Thank you, that is a relief." You swallowed thickly.
He hummed in response, smiling with an amused frown at the fact you feared him.
"So, who exactly are you?" You asked after a short yet not uncomfortable silence.
His lavish outfit betrayed the royal status he claimed in life, only accentuated by the Red Crown, or Deshret supporting a golden snake - the symbol of monarchy- resting atop his sarcophagus. Around his neck fastened a Usekh collar, adorned with teal and umber jewels and beads, and topped with golden accents. Sleeves of cloth draped over his arms, the fibres of the fabric woven with pure gold. The metallic shine of the element was evident in the chromatic sheen of the cape resting over the Pharoah's shoulders. At his waist there hung a Shendyt kilt, fastened with a cloth belt, also elaborately decorated. Beautiful gold jewellery decorated his figure, your eyes drawn in particular to the stunning gold bracelet cuffs he supported on either wrist, encrusted with gemstones, potentially aquamarine or topaz. Once again your attention was drawn to his face.
"I am Ahkmenrah, fourth king of the fourth king. And you are...?"
Stunned into silence for a moment by the regality of the ancient king before you, you blinked and paused briefly before answering.
"Y/N. Y/N L/N."
"So, Y/N, what are you doing in my grave?" Ahkmenrah asked you, barely trying to surpress an amused smile. Your cheeks flushed as you tried to form a lie. This ruler seemed nice, and regardless, you couldn't exactly tell him you were intent on raiding his tomb for riches.
"It was an accident. Really, it was. I was running, and, well, I wasn't exactly looking where I was going."
"Clearly." He smirked. "Why were you in the desert though? Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but you don't appear to be Egyptian."
"What? Oh, no I'm not. I'm English. I came out in an expedition with two other men; Lord Carnarvon and Carter. They're archaeologists." You winced at the manufactured truth. It wasn't entirely a lie, that was what the men claimed to be. Though all your troupe really planned to accomplish was glorified tomb-raiding, a fact that made you sick.
"And they left you here?" Ahkmenrah questioned incredulously, unable to fathom why on earth they would abandon you like this.
"Well, no. Not exactly. They allowed me to go check out the pyramid about 10 yards south, but, as o said, I fell down a hole." You blushed again, this time due to your own stupidity and clumsiness. This was not how to earn the respect of an esteemed king.
Ahkmenrah frowned. "So how long have you been down here?"
"Uh. I don't actually know, I was unconscious for a short time. Or possibly a long time, that I'm not sure of either."
Concern once again crossed the young Pharoah's face. "You poor thing! Are you alright? You're not concussed, are you?"
"Probably." You shrugged, further alarming him.
The next few hours were spent talking to Ahk, discussing everything from the legal affairs of ancient Egypt to the cats that accompanied him in his tomb. Over the course of the night, the two of you had grown closer, both in terms of friendship and literal distance. Most of the other inhabitants of the grave had deemed you safe, returning to their regular routine, and the most curious of the mummified cats, an (aptly) Egyptian mau apparently named Tivali, had become rather taken to you. Eventually, the exhaustion of the day had caught up with you, and you slumped against Ahk's shoulder. Revelling in his presence, contentment washed over you as, for the first time on your quest, you relaxed, finally at ease. Perhaps it was delirium, but in your sleepy state you swore you felt his fingertips grace against your cheek, the ghost of his lips pressing gently against your temple.
"Sleep well, my dear."
Lyutsifer Safin X Fem!Reader Cute, angsty and fluffy prompt
!TW: Pregnancy, mention/use of the word ‘rapist’s’, hint of anxiety, mention of having nightmares, mention of being raped/use of word ‘raped’, mention of being beaten up, mention of bullying/harassment, mention of blood/presence of blood, mention of bleeding/use of word ‘bleeding’, mention of hospital, mention of miscarriage/use of word ‘miscarriage’, mention of feeling guilty, hint of suffering from depression, implied swearing (word ‘cursed’), mention of illness/suffering from an illness, mention of past suicidal intentions, waters breaking, mention of ambulance/use of word ‘ambulance’!
“I just want you to know that you don’t need to go with me, I don’t need you to protect me, if you have to stay here,” you assured, but Safin shook his head; he was set on going with you and protecting you; you had to go back home again because you were soon to be due to give birth to your new child who you still weren’t sure was Safin’s or the rapist’s, the only thing you’d found out about it is that it is a boy. “I just don’t want something to happen to you,” you expressed, and Safin shook his head again, holding your hand.
“Nothing is going to happen to me, I promise,” he tried to reassure you, “nobody is ever going to take me away from you. Do you believe me?”
You smiled softly up at him, nodding. “Of course I do,” you answered, before you connected your lips to his in a loving kiss. “Okay, you can come back home with me,” you decided, and Safin grinned, glad that you’d finally agreed to let him go with you.
~-~
Even when you’d gotten home and were away from his workers, you were anxious and were still having nightmares most nights about the times you had been raped, and beaten up by them when Safin wasn’t there to help you. You struggled when you awoke in someone’s hold behind you, but relaxed when you heard Safin’s voice. “You’re okay, Y/n,” he spoke gently, “you were just having a nightmare.” You turned around to hug him tightly, beginning to cry as you felt overwhelmed after having the nightmare. “I’ll never let them hurt you again, I promise,” he expressed, a pained expression on his face; he wished he had done more to help you. “Do you want me to get you a glass of water?” Safin inquired, and you shook your head, forcing a smile up at him.
“I - I can get myself one, don’t worry,” you reassured him, and he sat up as he watched you get up off of the bed, leaving a small blood stain.
“Y/n,” Safin spoke uneasily, worried about you. You looked back at him, humming to show that you were listening. “You’re bleeding,” he pointed out, and you faltered, your eyes widening. Safin wouldn’t know what to say, a pained expression on his face; he was assuming the worst.
“But.. That can’t mean,” you murmured, “n-no, I don’t feel anything out of the ordinary.. I’ll try and get an appointment at the hospital tomorrow, and they’ll tell me what’s going on.” Safin nodded gravely, and you frowned, guessing that he thought you were going to have a miscarriage. “It’s going to be okay,” you tried to reassure him, but he wouldn’t dare look up at you; he didn’t want you to see that his eyes were glistening. “S-Safin, stop, please,” you begged shakily; you couldn’t take it; you didn’t want to think that you were going to have a miscarriage, and didn’t want to think that you wouldn’t find out if he was Safin’s child or wouldn’t be able to raise him with him. You rushed out of the room because you hated to cry in front of him, and he felt guilty for not trying to comfort you or trying to say something to you that would make you feel better.
|
Safin had decided to wait until the morning to talk to you because he didn’t want to upset you any further, and he found himself not being able to sleep for the whole night; he was too worried about you. “Good morning, kitten,” Safin spoke gently when he entered the living room to find you sitting up on the sofa, hugging the blanket you had over you closer to you.
“Morning,” you mumbled, trying to hide your face from him because your eyes were sore; you had been crying again.
Safin sat beside you, and you wouldn’t dare look up at him. “Everything is going to be okay, I promise,” he assured; he wanted to cheer you up because he hated to see you like this, and he missed your smile.
You tried to believe him, but couldn’t kick the doubt from your mind. “But - What if we do lose him?” You questioned, and Safin frowned. “If we lose him, I will never stop blaming myself,” you expressed, and Safin shook his head.
“It wouldn’t be your fault, Y/n,” he contradicted, and you scoffed. “It wouldn’t-”
“I just can’t help, but think - if we do, it’ll be the universe telling me that I’ve not been a good enough mother,” you admitted, and it was Safin’s turn to scoff and shake his head, before he placed his on top of your’s gently.
“You have no idea how amazing you are, do you?” Safin replied, and you glanced up at him for only a moment, before you lowered your head again. “You’ve been a great mother, Y/n, to both Sylvia and Emily, and you have been trying to do everything to protect our-” Safin faltered, feeling rather dejected when he remembered that he might not be the father, “s-son.”
You frowned when you realised that he must be thinking about the possibility of your son being the rapist’s, instead of his. Safin forced a weak smile up at you, and you tried to reflect it, but found yourself failing as you looked away from him again. Safin pulled you into a hug, and you rested against him, feeling comfortable, before you awkwardly turned around to wrap your arms around him. “Thank you, Safin,” you whispered, “I - I feel a little better now, when you hold me I’m in my happy place.”
“And when you hold me, I find myself in mine,” he remarked, and you smiled lovingly up at him, before you rested your head on his shoulder after he’d returned the smile.
|
“Those glasses are adorable on you,” Safin stated when he came across you reading in bed; you’d been starting to retire to bed much earlier because you tended to be exhausted more often, most likely because Sylvia was growing up into an older toddler, and being slightly more difficult, whilst you also tried to tend to your needs, avoiding Safin’s help because you wanted him to stop worrying about you all the time.
“Thank you,” you replied, smiling warmly up at him, before you got an idea, trying not to giggle as you pretended that you felt something out of the ordinary, sitting up with a perplexed expression on your face.
“What is it?” Safin inquired, rushing to your side so he could hold your hand, worried about you.
You looked up at him, your eyes wide. “I think my water just broke,” you answered, your voice close to a whisper. Safin would be shocked, before he attempted to pick you up, surprising you, and making you laugh; you couldn’t stop yourself. Safin appeared confused; he didn’t think you’d be laughing. Safin then grew suspicious of you, and you burst out laughing again when you noticed the skeptical look on his face. “I got you!” You exclaimed, and he grunted, before he lowered you back down on the bed.
Safin sat down on the edge of the bed, expressing relief. “Don’t scare me like that again, Y/n,” he whined, and you grinned, amused.
You shuffled closer to him, and he reluctantly looked over at you, anxious again. “Shut up, you big baby, and let me kiss you,” you teased, and he begrudgingly let you connect your lips to his.
~-~
On a lazy night for you both, you decided to find a horror movie for you both to watch, and were finding it hilarious because you could tell that Safin was trying to hide that he was startled by some of the scenes. “Is someone scared?” You teased him when you noticed that he was looking anywhere, but at the television screen, and he scoffed, glaring over at you.
“I’m not scared,” he claimed, “I just think horror movies are stupid, and boring.”
“Sure,” you replied, not believing him at all as he nervously returned his attention to the film. When another jump scare occurred shortly after he’d returned his attention to it, he cursed quietly, and you couldn’t help, but giggle again, prompting him to shoot a glare at you.
“Why do you make me watch these things?” He complained, making you laugh even more. “Sometimes I really hate you when you make me do these things,” he continued, and you tried to stop laughing to relieve him of the embarrassment. Safin relaxed a little bit after you’d managed to hold back the rest of your giggles, and you intertwined your fingers with his, before you rested your head on his shoulder.
~-~
“Safin, stop,” you whined; you were currently suffering from quite a bad cold, and were trying not to pass it on to him, but he was making it difficult for you to do that because he kept insisting on being near you.
“No,” he replied; he didn’t want to leave you alone whilst you were ill. “You’re sick, let me take care of you,” he practically pleaded, wanting to do all he could to restore your health, and all he could to make you feel comfortable.
“I don’t need you to take care of me,” you claimed, “and I don’t want you to get sick, too, so-”
“I don’t care if I get sick, Y/n,” he interrupted, certain of himself, “please just let me look after you until you’re better.” You sighed, before you nodded reluctantly. Safin smiled, glad that you were now allowing him to stay and take care of you.
Safin wrapped his arms around your waist, and you tried to ease him away, feeling as if he were getting dangerously close to the point he’d definitely receive the same cold from you. “Don’t get too close for now, okay?” You warned, and he frowned, nodding gravely.
“I’m sorry, your eyes are just really pretty and distracting,” he explained, and a smile played on your lips - you could also feel that your cheeks were heating up. “You’re blushing,” he pointed out, smirking. You winced, trying to hide your face from him. “You’re adorable,” he continued, and you whimpered, begging silently for him to stop teasing you, because you could feel that your face must be as red as a tomato by now. “It’s hard, trying not to kiss you,” he expressed, and you agreed; you wished the cold would just go away now.
“Hopefully this won’t last much longer,” you replied, and Safin nodded, forcing a smile over at you.
~-~
You would be surprised when you woke up to Safin panicking, and he expressed relief when he noticed that you were awake, rushing to your side, before he sat beside you, holding your right hand in his left one. “I thought I lost you,” he expressed dejectedly, his voice briefly trembling.
You appeared confused, and he frowned. “What happened?” You inquired, and he tilted his head partially.
“You’ve been asleep for hours, Y/n,” he answered, “I was worried; I thought something was wrong.”
“I must have been exhausted,” you mused, before you sat up, “well, I’m awake now, so you no longer need to worry about me.” Safin nodded, smiling weakly, before he leaned forward to wrap his arms around you. You returned the hug, thinking about how you’d never thought he’d be like this before. “I remember when I didn’t expect you to be so cuddly,” you stated, and Safin winced, burying his face into the crook of your neck to hide that he felt embarrassed.
“I didn’t think I would be, either,” he claimed, and you smiled softly, before you lifted your right hand to stroke his hair. “The older me would probably rather die than be how I am right now,” he remarked, and you shook your head, thinking he would be the same, just a little more awkward. “But I’m glad I’m different now,” he added, “and I’m extremely grateful for you, for making me so much happier than I used to be.”
“And I’m grateful for you, too,” you returned, holding him at arm’s length, “because if I hadn’t met you, I’d still be in the dark place I was before, and might have even have taken my life by now.”
Safin’s smile faded as he glanced up at you, and you looked away, feeling bad for mentioning it, and possibly ruining the moment. “I wish I had met you sooner,” he responded, “to take you out of the darkness you used to be in.”
“It’s okay,” you reassured, relocating your hand to his left cheek, “because I’m out of it now, as long as I’m with you.” The smile returned to both you and his face, before he lovingly and gently connected his lips to your’s.
~-~
You rushed into the living room when you heard Sylvia crying, and would be surprised when you saw pen markings on the opposite wall to you, and Safin trying to calm her down whilst appearing stressed out, himself. “What happened?” You inquired, and he expressed relief when he heard your voice, turning to face you.
“I found her drawing on the wall,” he answered, “and tried to stop her from doing anymore, but-”
Safin sighed, and you took her from him; you could see that he needed a break. “Why don’t you go and have a lie down?” You suggested, and he frowned, shaking his head; he wanted to help you with Sylvia, and the mess. “Are you sure-?” You pried, worried about him; he looked exhausted. He nodded, forcing a smile at you. “Okay, but you don’t have to help me clean this up,” you stated, to which Safin shook his head again; he wanted to help.
“I don’t want my princess to be doing all the work,” he replied, “please, let me help you.”
You sighed, before you gave in, nodding gravely. “Fine, I’ll let you help me,” you responded, looking over at the pen markings on the wall again, whilst trying not to feel overwhelmed about attempting to clean them off.
“Am I in trouble, mummy?” Sylvia asked, and you looked over at her, shaking your head, whilst forcing a smile.
“No,” you answered simply, “you’re lucky you’re cute - go and watch tv whilst we try and deal with - this.” Sylvia felt bad, and hesitated, before she climbed up onto the sofa to watch her favourite animated program that was just starting. Safin noticed that you seemed overwhelmed, and he held your hand to try and relax your nerves. You looked over at him, and couldn’t help, but giggle when you thought back to the time you recalled that you were developing feelings for him. Safin wore a puzzled expression on his face, tilting his head as he wondered what you were thinking about. “I’ve been in love with you for an embarrassingly long time,” you remarked, and Safin couldn’t help, but grin, wrapping his arms around your waist.
“I have the same problem,” he returned, before he connected his lips to your’s lovingly. “Now,” he began again, holding you at arm’s length as he looked over the pen markings. You looked over at them, too, and winced. “I can hear you overthinking things from here, stop it,” he commanded gently, and you nodded, trying not to.
~-~
After you and Safin had had a late night, he lazily strolled into the kitchen in the morning, where you were making breakfast for you and him. You grinned as you watched him sink into one of the kitchen table chairs, and he lifted his hand to his forehead; he clearly must be suffering from a headache. “If I don’t get coffee soon, someone is going to die,” he stated, and you couldn’t help, but giggle, pouring him the rest of the coffee you’d made not too long ago.
“Here,” you set the mug down in front of him, and he smiled up at you warmly, replying with a soft ‘thank you, kitten.’
“You’re welcome,” you responded, before you returned your focus onto the breakfast you were starting to plate up now for him and you.
~-~
“Stop,” you whined whilst he tickled you, and he chuckled, amused.
“If you want me to stop tickling you, you need to stop being so cute,” he replied, and you whined, beginning to feel flustered as you tried to hide your face from him, feeling that your cheeks were heating up, which told you that you were blushing. “You’re being cute again,” he stated, before he began to tickle you again, prompting you to burst out laughing, and struggling against him to try and escape him tickling you. Safin stopped suddenly, and you wondered what had happened. “Did - Did our son just kick?” Safin inquired, and you would be surprised, hoping you’d not missed him kicking.
You then gasped, feeling it again. “He’s kicking again,” you whispered, “Safin, he’s - he’s okay!” Safin expressed relief, before he threw his arms around you, and you smiled widely, before you returned the hug, immensely relieved to feel that your son was still alive, after not being able to secure a hospital appointment to find out. “I told you he would be okay,” you reminded him, and he nodded gravely, wishing he’d listened to you before.
Safin expressed concern when you’d gone quiet, and he held your hand, his eyes searching your’s. “What’s wrong?” He inquired, and you winced, your eyes wide with fear.
“I think my water just broke,” you whispered shakily, and Safin faltered, trying not to panic as he tried to think. “I need to call an ambulance-”
“No, Y/n,” he interrupted, “save your energy, I will call one.”
“But-”
“They won’t know,” he promised, “just let me help you, kitten.” You groaned, leaning heavily against him, before you begrudgingly nodded, though you were worried about him being caught. “Okay,” he spoke gently, “I’ll call them now, okay?” You nodded, and he rushed out of the room to the telephone, knowing he had to get he ambulance quickly for you.
Fireworks | Y/N x Ahkmenrah
British!Reader is feeling homesick without celebrating Bonfire night. After confiding in Ahkmenrah, he seeks help from the others to make sure they don't miss out on their favourite holiday (WC: 2334) AN: I wrote this in basically a day so apologies if it's not super polished.
Masterlist
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Y/N had been working as a night guard for the museum of natural history for a little over six months now. They’d moved to New York from the UK a year ago to attend NYU studying archeology. So when they were desperate for money and they found out the local museum had an open position, they happily took it.
The job did take some adjusting, especially when on their first night they came face to face with a moving t-rex skeleton, but thankfully, with the help of Larry and the other exhibits, they slowly became apart of their mismatched family.
It was notable that over the last six months Y/N had grown closest to Ahkmenrah. Not only due to their closeness in age but also their shared interest in history. Most nights Y/N could be found walking with Ahkmenrah, either listening to his stories or catching him up on recent history.
It was now November, Halloween had just passed, and Y/N was feeling unusually more homesick than usual. Instead of listening emotively to Ahkmenrah’s stories, they simply hummed in acknowledgement. She’s so caught up in her homesick melancholy that she fails to notice that he’s stopped speaking.
"Y/N, are you alright?” He nudged her gently as he asked. “You seem distant this evening?”
"Sorry, it’s silly, really.”
"Are you sure? You don't seem alright," he says quietly, his crystal eyes watching you. "You never ignore me."
“Oh Ahkmen, I’m so sorry!” Their face suddenly filled with emotion. “I didn’t mean to ignore you.”
He shook his head at her apologies and stepped forward to hold their hand. "No, it’s fine, Y/N, but what’s wrong?”
“I’m just missing the UK this time of year.”
Ahkmenrah's eyes soften as he takes your hand. "I understand. It is okay to miss your home." He says quietly. He looks up at you, and he can tell that the homesickness that you're feeling is a very heavy thing.
He gently squeezes your hand. "Do you talk to your family back in England?" He gives a thoughtful glance before looking back up at you.
“It’s not that; I spoke to them just this morning, but..." Y/N pauses for a moment before continuing, “I kinda miss the fireworks.”
His brows furrow slightly in confusion. “Fireworks?”
“Every year in the UK we set off fireworks and make bonfires on the Fifth of November.” They begin to explain, “We call it Bonfire or Guy Fawkes night.”
The confusion is now replaced with wide-eyed curiosity; his eyes sparkle with interest as he speaks, “That sounds wonderful, so you celebrate with fireworks?”
Y/N nodded, happy with Akhmenrah’s genuine interest. “Um yeah, it’s a way to commemorate when Guy Fawkes failed to blow up parliament in 1605.”
Ahkmenrah raises his eyebrows. He seems more intrigued than ever at this point. "A failed attack on a government.. so you celebrate?" he says, almost in awe at the idea. "How exciting!"
“Yeah, although like most holidays we mainly use it as an excuse to get stinking drunk.” They laughed quietly at their own joke, “But my parents and I used to always go see a fireworks show every year.”
“Did you do anything else?” He asked, still curious, to which Y/N’s asked sparkled before they spoke. The two then spent the rest of the night talking about different traditions and foods that bonfire night often had. They also discussed different holidays Akhmenrah would celebrate during his life in Ancient Egypt.
Eventually, the sun began to rise and the two had to part, but not before Y/N escorted him back to his tomb. “I’ll see you tonight, Akhmen.”
“See you tonight, Y/N.” He replied, but he looked as if he wanted to keep talking, making Y/N confused, but she didn’t have time to reply as the sarcophagus closed and the tablet glowed once more.
Y/N sighed before gently tapping on the sarcophagus and whispered the one thing they could never say during the night, “I love you...” before stepping away and heading back home.
The next night, Larry greeted them with a favour: "Listen, could you just keep an eye on the minis tonight? They’ve been whispering, and I got a feeling they're planning something.”
“Sure, no worries.” They ended up spending their whole night with Jedediah and Octavius. Y/N took them to the projection room and let them pick any movies to watch; they ended up picking The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
By the time Sunrise was close, they had only just finished the second film, and with a promise to watch the third movie, the two let Y/N carry them back to their exhibits. Once they had finished closing their assigned exhibits, Y/N made their way to the museum lobby.
As they walked down the stairs, Y/N paused as they spotted Ahkmenrah and Larry talking in hushed tones and looked at something on Larry’s laptop. The two hadn’t noticed Y/N as they slowly walked closer to the two.
“What are you boys whispering about?” They asked, causing the two men to jump slightly at the sudden voice. Larry quickly shut the laptop, looking incredibly awkward at being caught.
“Ah, Y/N. We were just... discussing some work stuff. Nothing important.” The older nightguard spoke rapidly, not sounding convincing at all. He glanced at the young pharaoh to back him up, who proceeded to nod while smiling a bit too widely.
“Uh Huh…” Y/N spoke with their arms crossed, clearly not believing them. “You guys are keeping something from me, and I’m gonna find out, but it’s close to sunrise, so it can wait.”
Ahkmenrah squirms a little under your scrutinising gaze. Larry, still looking sheepish, scratches the back of his neck. "Right. Yes. Sunrise." He agrees quickly. "Everything can wait." After a moment, he nudges Ahkmenrah, who hasn't spoken yet.
The Egyptian Pharaoh coughs and composes himself quickly. "Yes, yes. Sunrise," he said as his face went back to the usual cool and calm look.
Y/N smiled at the Ahkmenrah fondly before gently grabbing his arm and saying, “Come on, I’ll get you settled back in your room.”
Ahkmenrah doesn't look so tense anymore after seeing their smile. Once they grab his arm, he lets out a quiet breath and relaxes a little. "Thank you," he mumbles under his breath and lets Y/N lead him back to his exhibit.
As they led him, Y/N started to talk. There's no specific topic to their rambling, but it helps distract Akhmenrah from the inevitability that soon he’ll be in the sarcophagus once again. When they arrive in front of his exhibit, Y/N feels him tense next to them and gently guides him towards the sarcophagus.
“It’s okay, we’ll be right here for you when you wake up,” they try to comfort him as he lowers himself into his tomb.
He lays down in his sarcophagus and gives them a small nod, a silent thank you. "I trust that you will," he murmurs as his chest rises and falls with calm breaths.
As Y/N looks at him, their mind runs on autopilot and, without thinking, reaches down and places a soft kiss on his forehead. Realising what they’ve done, Y/N pulls away wide-eyed, "Sorry, I don’t know why I did that.”
Ahkmenrah is still stunned for a moment, his face red. "I-" he stutters slightly, trying to organise his thoughts. "No, it's alright," he manages, his voice trembling a little from the unexpected gesture.
Before they could reply, they spotted the tablet begin to slowly glow. With a sigh, they turned back to Ahkmenrah and said, "Sorry, it’s sunrise; I need to close this.”
Ahkmenrah reluctantly nods, his face still a little flustered from the kiss. The tablet's glow grows brighter as the sun rises. "Yes, of course," he mumbles, his voice slightly hushed.
He takes a deep breath before speaking again, trying to hide the hint of disappointment in his voice. "I'll see you tonight then."
“See you tonight.” With that, Y/N pushed the sarcophagus closed and waited until the glowing ended before heading home. As they walked down New York Street, Y/N couldn’t help but wonder exactly what Larry and Ahkmenrah were whispering about; they made a mental note to ask on their next shift.
Yet when they arrived the next evening, Y/N was confused to find the main lobby entirely empty, even despite the fact they’d arrived over thirty minutes late.
“Hello?” They called out as their voice echoed around the museum, “Where is everyone?”
Still no response, causing Y/N to sigh slightly. Suddenly the sounds of footsteps approaching caused them to tense as possibility spread through their head, What if there thrives in the museum? What if they’d stolen the tablet?
As the footsteps grew closer, Y/N hid behind the desk while clutching their torch like a weapon, ready to strike. They heard the person stop in front of the desk, causing Y/N to jump up and swing. Only to be stopped by an outstretched hand and a loud voice yelling their name.
“Atilla?” Y/N’s eyes were wide as they realised who they’d nearly attacked. “I’m sorry, I thought you were an intruder.”
He replied in Hun and a small pat on their left shoulder to indicate no harm was done before holding his hand out. Y/N took his hand and allowed him to take them to the new planetarium that had been built a month ago. They stood outside for a moment before the doors swung open.
Y/N gasped as she saw how the room was decorated with various streamers and balloons and spotted the rest of the museum happily partying with each other. Everyone is having a great time, and the room is filled with music and laughter. Larry, among the others, is near the centre holding up a drink. He sees you and waves.
"Ah, Y/N!" Larry calls out. "There you are! Was starting to worry you weren't coming." He gestures to the surroundings. "What do you think? Pretty neat, huh?”
They approach him slowly, still taking in the surroundings. “Larry? What on earth is going on?”
“We’re celebrating bonfire night!” He exclaimed excitedly while handing her a drink, “I think we got most of it right but added our own American twist, you know?”
“How did you even know about this?” Y/N asked, to which Larry simply pointed to a corner where they could see Ahkmenrah talking to Sacagawea and Teddy.
They left Larry at the bar with a polite wave and made their way over to the trio. Ahkmenrah’s eyes instantly locked onto them when he saw them approaching. “Y/N! You finally made it!”
“Did you do all this for me?” They asked while smiling brightly.
"Yes! Yes, I did," he replies enthusiastically. "Larry and the others helped, of course. But I wanted tonight to be special for you."
His eyes sparkle as he looks at you, happy to see your reaction to his efforts. "Do you like it?"
“Like it?” Y/N began while looking around again in wonder, "Ahkmen, I love it!”
“You do?” He asked, to which Y/N nodded, "Well, there’s more to come still; in fact, it should be starting in just a minute.”
“What’s starting?”
Instead, he grabbed their hand and led them to a specific spot. “It’s a surprise, but follow me; I know the perfect spot to watch.”
Before Y/N could ask another question, the main lights dimmed, leaving them in darkness. They looked up as the constellations began to move, gently dancing for a moment before one of them exploded into a dazzling display of colours.
Y/N’s eyes widened in recognition before they looked at Ahkmenrah and whispered, “Fireworks...”
“Larry said we couldn’t get real ones, but I thought this would be a good alternative.” He explained, watching as they smiled brightly, their face illuminated by the beautiful light show.
Feeling incredibly proud, he takes Y/N’s hand and stands beside them, watching the animated sky with them. "I'm glad you're enjoying it." He mumbled quietly and squeezed their hand.
Y/N continued to watch the fireworks, but as the display neared its end, they turned toward the young pharaoh. “Could I do something a little crazy?”
Ahkmenrah tilts his head a little and smiles, intrigued and curious about their question. "Of course, Y/N, what is it?"
Instead of answering, Y/N slowly reached a hand out to caress his cheek. They looked into his eyes for a moment before reaching forward and gently placing their lips on his. Ahkmenrah freezes for a moment, stunned by their action, but then he slowly blinks and closes his eyes.
In the dim light of the planetarium, he gently returns the kiss, his lips moving gently against theirs. After a moment, he hesitantly wraps his arms around them to pull them closer, his fingers lightly tracing along their back.
The two only pull away once a cacophony of cheers and clapping surrounds them. Y/N quickly hides their blushing face in Ahkmenrah's chest when they turn and see all their friends congratulating them for finally taking the next step.
Y/N feels his chest move as he chuckles softly before pulling them closer. “Thank you, my friends, but I think we should get back to the party.”
With his kind but commanding words, the rest of them quickly began to party once more, but not without a suggestive whistle from a certain cowboy.
They pull away from his chest slightly before speaking, “Thank you, Ahkmen, for all of this.”
"I wanted to make this special for you, and it was worth the wait," he says softly and gives their forehead a light kiss. “Shall we get back to the party?”
“Lead the way.” Y/N replied, allowing him to lead them by the waist to join their friends on the dance floor.
In that moment, finally being with the person they cared about most as their friends danced around them, Y/N realised they hadn’t thought of home once. Even if for a moment, Akhmenrah had healed their homesickness, and they couldn’t be happier.
