Halsin is such a good character to me and I'm really sad that we really don't get much content from him before or after his arc "concludes" in act 2. I understand that in act 3 he basically starts a different arc entirely because his one purpose, to lift the shadowcurse, is finally fulfilled and he is able to set new goals but I feel like there's something fundamental missing. We get to hear the dialogue of him realizing how much folks in the city are suffering and we come to understand what his new goal is throughout act 3 but I wish there was more "character moments" for him.
Like I love his romantic scene I think it is absolutely unrivaled and criminally misrepresented, I love the way his romance is written because it feels very *him* and I actually don't mind that we can't go off to fix the shadowcursed lands with him because. We don't own each other and he wants you to go out and make your own experiences, live life and all that (preferably in nature I'm sure) This is his thing, he wanted to break the curse and now He wants to help the refugees and citizens to start their new community. He even says at the reunion party that he's finally more comfortable with the idea of settling down now that he has this new community to care for and I love that development!!
But if you like. Don't romance him?? I feel like there is a lot of character missing?? I just kind of wish we got to have more platonic scenes with him, like we do with Gale and Shadowheart.

played dragon age 2...just simple scribbles
#dragon age tag#i doubt that will see much use again..but who knows. vvv rambling below#weird game..the characters dialogue stuff and ending were good tho :')#i've played some of the first game but it kept crashing. i knew already despite knowing nothing that this guy was going to be my type#it doesnt feel right making video game art any more bc games like this end up feeling really personal - an experience that happened to me#if i design the main character a bit and fall in love then..that happened to me..i can't make Fan Art of that..only ive been through that..#like i cant make fanart of my dear companions in bg3 despite it having been a huge part of my heart in the last year#almost 1000 hours of playtime in something i can barely talk about bc it means too much.... lol#tons of ideas and conversations and extra thoughts and scenes and emotions about all the incredible times i've been through in bg3#and the maelstrom just rotates around intensely in my own heart forever...but that's ok too...that is so precious to me#but fortunately i already knew people that have played this game and talked/drew abt it recently so it was saved from that for me#sharing scribbly fanart on my Blog is a way to capture the feeling just after experiencing something so it has good points#witch hat atelier escapes that by not being a GAME. games are so immersive. but my wha art & feelings are incredibly immersive too#which makes it difficult sometimes now. i live a complicated and emotional life <3 i am not suited to fandom <3#my character ended up looking so much like oru without me realising that's what i was doing. Kind bearded fireball throwing gay mage. Hmm.#falling for a sad white hair memory trauma fellow that keeps you at a tragic distance. Hmmmmmm.#i see also how very much bg3 is inspired by stuff like dragon age now lol so i'm glad i experienced it. I WANT MY KIRKWALL LIFE BACK...#so dated though as well and unpleasant at times (the city and the dismal atmosphere was depressing.) i hate violence/horror..#bg3 is SOOOO very dismal but it feels like I am killing people and going through horrors because i have to survive i have to be free#Well anyway. ahh it's so refreshing to fall in love. my gay journey continues...

Lmao, humanity in FGO is so lucky that the protagonist is good-aligned because if it were actually me, I'd just go "Jeanne is doing nothing wrong" the moment I see her in the first singularity, and that's it.
Bam.
Bye bye, 2019.
EDIT: I'm fairly certain they put in two Jeanne d'Arcs because a lot of players would've sided with angry murderer Jeanne otherwise... But then again, I'm biased.

verilybitchie's comment on taash's non-binary identity within the narrative spoke to me so bad. so i will say that plain representation is just "here you have your cake too" when it's giving... no context. like what kind of gender confusion a rivaini-qunari can have? this is a question that can only be answered if we can get an answer for what rivaini see gender as. is gender nonexistent and only thing that matters is the genitalia, functionally? is being a man or a woman just about who's giving birth and nothing else, not even clothing? like what are they giving. you cannot connect any dots because there's no dot to connect with.
not only there's cultural context to such things there's also the way of experiencing confusion/questioning depending on that IS so interesting to write, read and think about.
so i feel similar to sexuality representation. like what affect does it have for them and to their life. through dorian (and krem, in gender topic) we could even learn about tevinter culturally and politically that ties to class, poverty, money, and how did they effect them. it's not even about "struggle" it can be a culture that is totally fine with LGBTQ+ but like experience-effect is still experience-effect, negative or positive, and where does a character's own personal takes lie in them. it makes it feel real and fleshed out.
god ykw i STILL haven't watched that video despite meaning to for ages. when i do you'll probably know because i'll go into annoying essay mode lol
but yeah i completely agree. it's really weird because rivain's main narrative function is to contrast the negative points of qunari society. if rivain and the lords of fortune are majorly queer friendly, then why has taash never considered that they might be non-binary before? why do they need to go to tevinter to find trans people to speak to? (even having that initial conversation about not liking being a woman be with isabela might have felt slightly more cohesive lol.) then again, if it ISN'T a society that's welcoming of trans people, then why is the qun the only one whose issues are explored? obviously this is mostly due to the writers' (ie: weekes') weird hangups about qunari society and insistence on demonising them as a regressive "other", but it also feels like it flattens rivaini society in a way that does them a massive disservice imo.
honestly i wrote out a long thing on how dav feels less interested in exploring transness than it does representing transness but it got long and i was rambling. but anyway, i really agree that it's about portraying culture more than struggling, though. as much as i don't like the way bigotry is pushed aside in dav because a lot of queer culture COMES from struggling, there are so many ways to explore how queerness can exist in a society beyond having characters be called slurs. language is one but that's off the table ig. it's nice that they wanted to go with more casual trans characters and did "person who just happens to be trans if you dig into their backstory", but it's also weird and unnatural what these trans characters choose to tell and what they choose to withhold when prompted. i mean, tarquin gives us his entire coming out story but wont give us the name of the healer who prescribed him fantasy minoxidil for his beard? that's just kind of rude. (and indicative of how transness in vg is paper thin. we aren't supposed to think about it deeply enough to consider how a character could transition despite that being kind of an important thing for lots of trans people to do)
obviously this isn't just a dav problem. i feel like I'd give the first three da games slightly more slack given that queer rights (especially in gaming) was a different landscape 10 years ago, but if we look at bg3 we can see pretty much the same issues. i don't really think aaa games are capable of tackling these issues anymore, even if it feels like they were once able to at least try to.

I'm doing another BG3 companions headcanons dump, since I enjoyed the last one a lot! So please enjoy;
BG3 COMPANIONS REACT TO; TAV IS SCARED!
(For further context, companions reacting to Tav having to be around something they don't like, eg; water, small spaces, fire, undead etc, or they're just jumpy in general. Also, romance is not established, but implied!)
Wall of fluff below, enjoy
Tumblr media
Lae'zel -
It depends on the fear. If it's something like a cave that's barely holding up or the group is sneaking past a hoard, she'll agree the situation is critical, but encourage focus. "I'd also like for this to be over. But it won't be if we hesitate and dally" but if it's something like heights or rivers, she doesn't understand...but she will become a githyanki barrier between Tav and whatever is causing them stress.
Shadowheart -
She's pretty understanding of most fears. She freezes at the mere howl of a distant wolf, so if Tav flinches at the crackle of fire or the smell of blood, so be it. She keeps an eye out and tries to find work arounds if the group is about to enter somewhere Tav is going to hate. If it's unavoidable, she's as gentle as possible. "We've got this. It'll be over before you know it, I promise you. Then we'll never have to do this again."
Wyll -
He'll make it as tolerable as possible, but will encourage Tav to face their fears head on. "I'm not scared. I have no reason to be and neither do you, because I won't let anything happen to you" he'll promise. Won't push, won't complain. Just keeps Tav in arms reach and stays calm. He's proudly Tavs dedicated rock. And sheild. And blade. He sasses anybody has anything to say about it.
Karlach -
"Don't worry. Mama K is the best teifling sheild around, from here to Avernus! Stick close" She smiles, confident as ever. Even if she is scared too, she'll pretty much forget about that while Tav is scared. Tav is her main priority, and she let's them know proudly. Anyone else says anything? She's reaching for the greataxe.
Gale -
Doesn't want you to be embarrassed, so he tells you about a silly fear he has. Has a knack for rambling Tav into distraction, so he takes advantage as best he can of their attention. Of course in a moment of panic he'll drop the 'I did something stupid' fake laughter and immediately stop everything. "We can go, right now. I'm sure we can find another way to do this, we always do. I don't care if it takes longer, it's got to be better than watching you shake like that"
Astarion -
He pretends not to notice. Not because he doesn't care, but comfort has never been his strong suit. He worries he's going to make it all worse if he addresses Tav about it. Instead he occupies himself with laughing about whatever situation they're in. If he knows anything, its how to be disarming, and laughter works like a charm...but if it doesn't and nobody else steps in to comfort Tav, he'll do it- granted the words are coming out before he can think too hard; "Look at me. You have survived a goblin camp of cultists, an entire githyanki creche- we met after crashing from a nautaloid ship with illithid worms in our heads. This is nothing. You're stronger than this."
Bonus! (the elders)
Halsin -
He can tell they're nervous before Tav can. He checks in regularly and asks repeatedly if there's anything else he can do to make it all easier. Once it gets to be too much, he calls it for Tav. "I understand if you'd rather myself and a few others handle this. While I'm proud of you for staying, I can promise you no disappointment if you wish to leave. Your wellbeing isn't worth sacrificing for this"
Jaheira -
Similar to Halsin, she's very quick to pick up on when something upsets Tav even if they don't say anything. She subtly keeps an ear out for how well they're holding up, and will make excuses for Tav to take breaks and get further away from the thing they're scared of. "Apologies, but this old druid needs to rest her old lady hips. Tav, it would be safer if we both went to that safe spot there, come on." Jaheira won't bring it up, but its easy to figure out what she's doing.
Minsc -
He doesn't notice for a while, even if its obvious, but once it occurs to him, he draws an obnoxious amount of attention to it. Granted he's also asking people to get between you and the source of discomfort and will tell anyone who so much as sighs to politely shut the fuck up. If he thinks it will help, he will put Boo on Tavs shoulder. "Boo is a war criminal! Everything fears Boo. He'll protect you from all the nasties, won't you Boo?"
Hope you enjoyed! Let me know if you guys have any prompt ideas, I'd LOVE to write more ^^

hi! i really liked your analysis of durge. i think a lot of people gloss over the fact that they're innately predisposed to evil beyond just getting 'possessed' by bhaal on occasion. i haven't played a dnd game since 3.5e and am still catching up on the new lore, so i'm wondering what you think about the relationship between durge and bhaal as divine beings? my understanding is that durge and bhaal are both quasi-deities at the time of bg3 (correct me if i'm wrong), and it makes me wonder if the urges are only connected to bhaal's influence over durge, similarly to the way they work with other bhaalspawn, or if its because durge literally is bhaal, to an extent, or some part of him, at least. i feel like larian has already taken quite a few liberties with bhaal (quasi-deities shouldn't be able to answer prayers or grant powers, should they? not to mention durge's redemption literally amounting to "tell daddy no and you get out scot free" lmao) so i'm curious what's actually going on. what do you think?
@aureliaen // Bhaalspawn are more likely than being have a predisposition towards being evil. It is when they grow up in loving stable environments (Like Gorion's Ward) that they tend to be good, or not act on evil intentions (it is after all only after The player gains control of the character that traumtic things start happening to them, that can cause a change in their world view). Durge, like Sarevok, had their their life was upheavalled time-in-time again, not receiving much nurture to over come their predisposition. It would be different if they where not a divine being, they had have more freedom in their ability for self determination. That being said when this done to none divine beings it gets kind of gross and racists *points at old Drow lore*
But, yes. They would both be quasi-deties. Durge lines up well with being a Titan, while Bhaal (because he was dead) lines up well being a Vestige.
Tumblr media
(from the 5E DM handbook)
So yeah, none of the Dead Three should be able to do what they are doing in BG3. none of them should be giving out spells, none of could have a Chosen. The main problem is that Larian doesn't know the lore for the setting they made the game for. That's what's going on, for the most part.
If we work under the assumption that The Dead Three are lesser Deities, then there are far less problems.
Since Titans can be "born from blood spilled by a god" it does kind of line up with Bhaal making Durge from his own divine flesh 9I guess he could have also willed Durge into being, or "substance" can be his flesh). There's nothing stating that Quasi-Deities can not create other Quasi-dities (though I personally feel like Bhaal would pushing the limits of his power in doing so. As awesome as the power of deities can seem to mortal characters, they do have their limits).
But as a creation of Bhaal, I think in the grand scheme of things they'd call into a more subservient role. Though it is not canon lore I think it makes sense to interpreter Titan's to be similar to Exarchs (mortals rasied up to Demigod-like status to serve their gods, like how Bane made Fzoul Chembryl his Exarch after the human man had died in his service). It just skips the "mortal life" part. The case does vary though. Titans can be made accidently.
Bhaal created a Bhaalspawn Titan with the intention of it being his servant, so even if Bhaal doesn't come for them personally (right away anyways) Durge still faces the possibility of being labelled not just Fairhless, but False (Jergal/Withers resurrecting them isn't going to protect them forever, it just means he gets some say in what happens when they truly die, since it seems Bhaal designed them with that being a possibility).
So yeah this was just a long rambly way of saying that I think Durge's relationship to Bhaal is similar to an Exarch to their own god (honestly the way gods are categorized from 2E is just better). Because Durge was also his Chosen (which means they also had MORE of Bhaal's divine essence put in them, but that's what gods do when they name a being their chosen, it's not just some flowery title).
It's very a master and servant kind of deal between them (on top of father & child). I just had to explain a lot of my reasoning behind to why one quasi-deity would be a servant of another (not all quasi-deities are equal to each other in power).
Bhaal being a quasi-deity also make shis whole "kill literally everyone" plan make zero sense. The only way he'd going to gain power is why getting worshipers.
There is also the whole problem of Durge having to have been created while Bhaal was dead (just due to how old the game implies Durge to be). And That default Durge shouldn't be able to be a Dragonborn (becaus ethey only came to Toriel while Bhaal was dead).
There is so many blind spots, and so much lore wrong for Bhaal, his worshipers, and Bhaalspawn in BG3 that it hard to make sense of it at times.

BG3 and the Second Sundering
Tumblr media
You know what? I might ramble a bit about DnD Lore, because I am recently starting to get really into the lore. And I think that the Second Sundering is super interesting in terms of how it might connect to BG3 and its characters.
Quick refresher for everyone who (like me) never really had any contact with the lore of DnD and specifically the Forgotten Realms prior to 2023.
The Forgotten Realms is more or less the main setting for DnD and describes a collection of worlds that are technically speaking connected to our world. The main world most of the lore happens is called Toril, though frankly: Toril mostly consists of Faerûn (where most plot happens) and then an assorted collection of stereotypical settings that are mostly "Fantasy-East-Asia", "Fantasy-Egypt", "Fantasy-Africa" and "Fantasy-Aztecs".
The Forgotten Realms have magic (the Weave) and a wide collection of gods. And most worldwide storylines can be best described as: Bhaal, Myrkul, Bane, and Shar do some bullshit. And: Ao (who totally is not based on YHW) has issues.
Most of the recent events within the lore are all connected to those things. To give you a quick rundown:
The laws of the Forgotten Realms were written down by Ao in the Tablets of Fate, and about a hundred years ago Myrkul and Bane stole those tablets trying to give themselves more power. This made Ao angry at all the other gods and throw them out of the Astral planes. Stuff happened. More stuff happened. The Tablets of Fate were found again and Ao decided to destroy them to prevent something like that from happening again. Which lead to the Spellplague among other things. But we are not talking about the Spellplague today. No, we are talking about the Second Sundering, which happened just a few years ago from the perspective of Baldur's Gate 3.
Because Ao decided to reforge the Tablets of Fate to properly put the worlds of the Forgotten Realms back into order. And here is a thing you need to understand about the gods in the Forgotten Realms: They all, with no exception, strive for more power. No matter how Lawful Good or Chaotic Evil they are, they strive for power. And they all knew: When the Tablets would be reforged, the gods' powers would be more pinned down compared to how free they were without the tablets. So, all the gods tried to get more powers by getting more followers. To archive this, they all got themselves more chosen, so that they could be more present on Toril, which is how this most notably affected the people on the world.
The main events of the Second Sundering happened between 1484 and 1487 DR. (BG3 takes place in 1492 DR.)
Now, I will not go into too much detail of what happened. The tl;dr is that the usual people (the dead three and Shar) did their usual bullshit, some of the chosen were kidnapped and at times killed, there were several wars, some of the effects of the Spellplague were reversed, and some dead gods came back (including Mystra, but that is a story all on its own).
Within the world not all people even learned what was going on. Like, sure, people would have known about the wars and some might have heard some rumors about the chosen running around and stuff, but they would not have learned exactly what was going on with the gods and with the tablets of fate.
Still, some of the characters in BG3 would probably have known of - and even been involved in - in the events. Most notably of course Gale, who as a chosen of Mystra would be involved into everything in one way or another. Again, Mystra is probably a topic on her own. But yeah, Gale would have been involved somehow.
Chances are that Wyll's entire thing with defending the city from the Tiamat people, was also probably somehow connected to it.
The same goes of course for Shadowheart. She might in fact not fully remember this - but she was most certainly somehow dragged into those events by Shar.
The other three origin characters would not have been that involved. I firmly believe that Astarion knew next to nothing about what the fuck was going on, due to Cazador keeping the Spawn kinda away from the outside world except for hunting. And while the Second Sundering did involve some events in the Hells and on the Astral Plane, I doubt that Lae'zel or Karlach were very involved.
Ironically, someone who might well have been deeply involved would have been the Dark Urge. Because Bhaal was fairly involved in everything going on. Heck, chances are that even Gortash and Orin were in some way involved. Not quite sure about Ketheric. But those two? Yeah, probably involved.
And, you know. I think it is kinda a funny thing to think about. With everything happening there and how the characters - and in fact the events - being connected.

Hello!! Nova here! Any posts with #mod: nova is from me!! I'm not as nice as the other mod says I am, but I'm nice enough!! My interests (at this moment they change a lot) is dragon age, baldur's gate 3, and being unhinged on main. Maeson is right and I am more likely to talk to you but I still am not great at communicating!!
My interest in dragon age is not because the new game, I've been a fan for over a decade now but I just am playing through them again in hopes to finally finish the third one so I can start the new one. I also love mass effect but I'm no playing through it right now because I did a few months ago. These are two topics you can try to talk to me about and I am more than happy to chat!! I have my theories and head canons for bg3 too if you want to chat about any of those!!
I ramble a lot if you can't tell but thank you for reading!!

Same person who sent the initial bg3 ask here! I absolutely love your analysis of Shadowheart! I agree with you about her big act 3 choice (trying to be vague just incase others don't want spoilers). I was surprised that the majority of online opinions I've seen argue that the other choice is the better ending for Shadowheart. I just want her to be free and happy—even if the journey to happiness is rocky lol.
"It's the same bg3 person again b/c I also love gushing about this game and I ran out of room lol. As far as starting a Dark Urge run, I 100% have to recommend romancing Astarion. Though, it's 100X better on a run where you decide to be good and resist the urge. It's actually surprisingly wholesome and low-key so much better than romancing him as a normal Tav. He's surprisingly supportive and there's so many great moments where you talk about resisting and becoming better people together."
---
Glad you enjoyed my responding gushing and rambles. I do think the framing of the last scene with Shadowheart's questline perpetuates a lot of the opinions on her parents alive being the better option. I suppose it's neater too, since the game ends a relatively short time afterwards and unlike BG2 we don't get long epilogue cards describing what happens in the long term. No chance to see the full consequences of what being the unfortunate plaything of a vindictive goddess does to a person.
"I felt the wound last night, while you were sleeping. Like some sadistic child, de-winging a fly."
A lifetime with that isn't one I'd wish on anyone.
Onto the Dark Urge playthrough. Astarion and I have a hate/tolerate relationship. If I could lean wholly into the darker options (to get Astarion to the point of liking the Main Character enough), or a straight romance, I'm sure it would prove very entertaining, especially from what I know of the events and 'incidents' involving the Dark Urge. As it is, I was planning on romancing Lae'zel.
I'll popcorn my way through Astarion's excellent personality and romance through the medium of Youtube in the end, I suspect. Tens of hours, even with a quick playthrough of BG3 (I've never been good at speedrunning games), is a long time for me to 'play straight' or otherwise cuddle up to a chap if I had someone other than a female main character.
I will forever adore Astarion's response to Araj (the drow potion lady) in the city:
Araj: "Ah, and the heart-stopping bloodsucker. I hope you've changed your mind. My neck is yours, any time."
Astarion: "And I will keep refusing until the end of 🎵time🎵!"
But we make snarky allies at best.
The end of his questline makes me overall begrudgingly fond of him. Like a great fluffy Persian cat that you just know is going to take the utmost pleasure in biting you, but you still let snuggle up to you regardless.

With a whopping 54 hours I have officially finished my second playthrough of bg3 and I will miss Je'La every day, actually
Ended up going adventuring with Astarion, met Halsin at the reunion party and Sobbed because the emotion in his voice when you reunite with him and get to kiss n hug again is actually too real. I too am touch starved and a fan of duck facts sir thank you (HE WHITTLES YOU A LITTLE DUCK READER IM NOT ALRIGHT)
Now I did start a few different playthroughs in the past I'm just really bad at following through but this one felt really special and like. God guys I fucking love Je'La she was so fun to roleplay as and dress up like a little fashion doll because it wouldn't be my game if my characters didn't go through drastic hair changes to signify a traumatic passage of time
Anyway I'll be downloading all my screenshots and sporadically spamming them until I'm sick of spinning these characters in my head 24/7

It feels weird changing my main blog. I realized last night that this change was a long time coming. Even though the header and avatar are Baldur's Gate 3 related, I wanted to shift to something a bit more neutral--you wouldn't even know the header image is from BG3 unless you've played it, and it's just so pretty. Also, I'm so very proud of my Astarion piece that I want to show it off all the time, so he's my avatar now.
And I say it feels weird, because I've been riding the Vampire Hunter D train for so long, that it felt intrinsic to my personality and identity. But tbh, this blog hasn't been VHD concentrated in a very long time, and it comes off as disingenuous to say this is mostly a VHD blog when it's not anymore. I love too many other things to pigeon hole myself into one subject matter.
Don't get me wrong, I still love VHD and will continue to do so till my last breath. However, I need to give myself more freedom. There are so many waifus and husbandos I love, and they all deserve a place on my blog, and I want to ramble about how much I love them and who I ship them with.
Like, would I ship D with Astarion? Probably... Don't @ me. Would I make a polycule headcanon of Aylin and Isobel with Coronabeth and Ianthe? Again, probably.
Just a long-winded way of saying I need to be feral, and the blog theme is going to subtly reflect that. Possibly. Let me be feral.

Long time since I posted but have a million explanations that I'm not gonna make sense
My bg3 teifling is named grief, his virtue name is that because he's moarning his past life he never knew but also moarning those he is destined to kill, but he was actually named Regal before because his goals were pure nobility and also I align my bg3 characters with the main villains and his is the god of tyranny and his chosen Gortash teehee
Also a bit of more of a deep dive, despite his god being Baal, I associate him more with bane, god of tyranny, cuz I want my tav, resist Durge, and murder Durge to be like the dead three with tav being merkal, god of death (because he brought down a plague with his wild magic and made a deal with an old god to fix it), resist Durge (him!) to be with bane (again tyranny) because he wanted power and status to bring about more death, and my murder Durge to be Baal, lord of murder
And also
Tav is the ecplise, the between of the two durges (Alexander btw)
Grief/regal is the moon because he's a lone wolf 🐺 but fr because the night brings comfort and danger
And murder Durge (on my second one run) to be the sun because they are desturve!!
Also inspired by the ballad of Jane doe
BY THE FUCKING WAY
The middle section with all the colors is the moon, which represents regal (pre memory wipe grief)
The skeleton is Baal, lord of murder, and the thing that grief tries to avoid
The sun is the urge brought by Baal, purse destruction, the world will be wiped!!! Rahhh!!!!
The stars are both the blood of the innocents and the light guiding grief to confront his past as regal
The outside just looked cool as a border idk
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Came back to ramble on my guys
I want to associate types of dance with them so
My tav, Alexander evangale, would be contemporary dance
Bit of backstory he's a wild magic sorcerer (he was born with magic from fey lineage that sometimes goes wild and does unpredictable things) and he wanted to be a wizard as he thought he was one but one day because he saw her sister getting beat up his magic exploded and caused a plague in which he made a deal with an old god to get rid off
So, as the speed rhythm and direction would be random, it represents his wild magic but the more precise legwork represents the order that his god brings, and the importance of fall and recovery and improvisation represents him as a character
My durge, Grief/regal, would be ballet
His story is actually a bit of a spoiler so also it's dark urge so tw violence
||As a Baal spawn there's one thing that regal wants. Blood. It's the Lord of murder after all. After meeting gortash however he decided on a virtue name, regal, as he could use gortash, shape him, climb up into power and use war to bring more people to his father's domain. So he did. He became Gortash's personal assassin, and blah blah blah he loses his memories and gets the tadpole and he becomes repulsed by his dark urges, naming himself grief for the life he doesn't remember and the people he will kill||
So ballet. To represent his past life, it's regal (heh) it can powerful, violent,it's a status symbol (cough cough not historically but in its current cultural context). To represent his current life it can be soft, romantic, it's the art of the common people (there's the historical part)
Uhhh grossly oversimplified background ballet used to be considered for poor people (grief), being a ballerina was not romanticized and now it's seen as a status symbol and an aesthetic to strive for (regal)
Grief is literally poor but more important he's common. He's not a ||leader for Baal||, he's just a teifling
Regal is powerful. Literally and metaphorically. He strives for the aesthetic of power when in reality he's literally a horrible person!!!! But fr he strives for the unantiable
Anyways all this for a 4 song playlist and to say that this is the reason why he's in a ballet pose

I’m living for your million mile tag ramblings about your bg3 kids. They all sound so messy and I love them. Can I maybe get more info dumps, or the thing where you pic a gif that matches their personality? 🥺😘
Wake
Tumblr media
Wake is just so far out of her depth and refuses to let anyone know bc she desperately wants to seem like she knows what she's doing. She met Karlach and was immediately ready to fight Wyll for her. She's very speedy (current speed with all bonuses before dashing: 80ft) and does dope monk shit. She wants to help her friends but man can they stay like... Good? For like 5 minutes? She wants to marry Karlach and adopt 5 dogs. She thinks Lae'zal and Shadowheart are secretly fucking. She thinks Astarion needs a hug and Gale needs a rebound. She and Wyll are besties. She wants Halsin teach her how to whittle. She thinks Withers is a funny little guy. Someone help her, but don't make it obvious.
Tu'an
Tumblr media
Tu'an's name is literally trouble and she lives up to it. She's actually a DND character I've got and translated into BG3, and her backstory is pretty dark, which is fine bc she's so beyond caring. There's so much wrong with her, she has an ungodly pain tolerance bc she doesn't really feel it anymore. She can't get drunk bc repeated infusions of very high level healing magic have artificially sped up her metabolism and she processes alcohol without getting any of the good woobly feelings. She finds the fact that Shadowheart could kill her SO sexy. Would absolutely destroy anyone who disparaged Scratch or the owlbear cub.
Moss
Tumblr media
If you mixed Parker with Nathan and then further traumatized that resulting person you'd get Moss. Moss is an angry little cutthroat bitch who would sell you for a corn chip. Except not all the time bc if she likes you she would stab the person trying to get her to sell you out. With prejudice. And never tell you about it bc it's none of your business. Her main way of expressing affection is to bitch at you to do self care while pointedly ignoring that she is also not sleeping or eating properly. She and Gale do NOT get along at first, he finds her abrasive and clinical, she finds him annoyingly positive AND he eats magic items. After the Grove he realizes she's more than she lets on and makes an effort to understand her, which throws her for a loop bc nobody has ever bothered to try before. She has no clue what to do with her feelings. Truly a mess.
Vyn
Tumblr media
Truly a proper bard. She thinks very highly of herself and doesn't think about anyone else. She has committed plagiarism and will do so again. She wants the glory but absolutely does not want to work. She would have committed cryptocurrency scams if it existed in BG3, and she's so charming she'd have gotten away with it too. The most likely to be tricked by The Emperor, since he's flattering her and she loves to hear nice things about herself. Has never had to deal with the consequences of her actions and is now having just so many rude awakenings. This adventure is going to drag her kicking and screaming into being an alright-ish kind of person and she isn't having it. Wyll isn't even her normally type but she zeroed in oh his hero complex and wanted to exploit it so she would have a bodyguard, but she got in too deep and now she actually wants to be the person he thinks she is and she's never going to live this down.
Ocelia
Tumblr media
Besties with Jahiera. Does not care about being nice or polite unless you give her the respect she has earned. Has a strict moral code to protect her from the Wizard Hubris, which often leads her to denying herself things she wants, or making her do things the hard way. Thinks Gale is an idiot and one step removed from a warlock. Unflinchingly honest when prompted, if you don't want her to tell you what she thinks you should not ask her. Has backup plans for her backup plans and always has her head on a swivel. Technically a Duchess although she leaves the running of her estate and lands to her younger brother, who is a much better people person. Can see that Astarion has the potential to be Better capital B and refuses to let him wiggle out of doing the right thing. In return he won't let her pretend she doesn't want something. They bring out the most ragged parts of each other and somehow it... Just works. Neither of them will address the elephant in the room aka their feelings. Shadowheart has a bet going with half the camp over whether or not they'll fuck or murder each other. Ocelia has placed a bet and won't tell Astarion what it is.

Hihihi Kosmo. I can’t play more bg3 for a while (ran out of space on my puter, need to order an external hard drive and move it onto there <\3) and I’m going through Hyperfixation Withdrawal. You know how it is. So MY POINT IS in the meantime you should tell me about your tav I wanna hear about your tav please tell me about your tav. Also I’d like to hear how the games going for you and all that, if you don’t mind sharing :)
HIHIHI ARI :) sosorry about your puter </3 stay strong in these tough times soldier!! also i do know The Hyperfixation Withdrawal 🤝 i need my daily dose of Guys From My Computer to keep me going youknow. ANYWAY I DONOT MIND SHARING I LOVE TALKING ABOUT THINGS AND HEARING ABOUT THEM ALSO !!
as for gameplay i havenot. gotten far. </3 i keep remaking my tavs because i came up with something better. but so far i keep failing checks and getting blown up and catching on fire and falling and dying and so on <3 its so funny. to me. its like a recurring gag on a sitcom. shadowheart keeps befalling the same fate as my tavs as well. go girl give us nothing ! (said lovingly)
RAMBLINGS BELOW I GOT CARRIED AWAY SOSORRY.
Tumblr media
^^^^ my main man Amari !! only one picture because i may have made them in august and. forgot about him. so sorry king
he/him . or they perhaps... heart <3
high half elf and. a bard. <3
romancing astarion (
also his name means eternal in hebrew because well. i think thats funny. guy named immortal dating a guy who is immortal. anyway.
the most i got lore wise is that their background is urchin. perhaps learned instruments and whatnot to make money.
i wish i had more worked out but. alas. melchior and those damn old men (aldente) plaguing my mind.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
^^^^ MELCHIOR... MANDATED DARK URGE TAV. YOU KNOW.. more pictures because i made him the other day. theen remade him again today which is why this took so long so sorry </3
he/him <3
seldarine drow and. a rogue .
romancing that damn vampire also. because i kept hearing things about durge and astarion. no other reason <- lying
picked melchior because. seems like something a weird little guy would name himself.
okay. i am a poser i havent played much. however i know durge lost memories and so on. but i was making this dude before i decided to make him my durge tav and. i donot want to change his lore
he was the worlds worst conman. grunkle stan style. warrant in 25/50 states youknow. doesnot remember any of this. when asked about his background hes too prideful to admit he doesnt remember anything and lies each time. horrible at keeping up with these lies however and everyone is so painfully aware (but he doesnt realize that).
also i think its funny to imagine these guys Adventuring and whatnot and coming across various wanted posters for their questionable little buddy. and each time hes soso close to remembering something but brushes it off as an equally charming and beautiful and great at everything stranger you know. do you get me <- is unwell
got that good. that good for nothing. dude is SHIT at EVERYTHING. ive rolled a critical failure on damn near everything with him. i like to imagine this annoys astarion to no end because. well im normal. im about to get ill about that vampire. so sorry.
gets to the point where astarion starts doing things for him because he cant do anything. melchior is beyond amused and begins to fail horribly on purpose to annoy him. everyone in the party hates these two. two guys dragging their party down <3 love loses !
horrible at reading social cues also. because i heart projection. cannot tell when hes being made fun of. or flirted with. astarion cannot win with this guy. makes a catty comment and melchior goes "thanks dawg!" and daps him up so hard he gets a spinal injury.
gofd theres so muchmore about these two and their ddynamic that ive made up in my mind but this is getting long and my fear of being cringe is winning. you know how it is. ANYWAY THANKYOU THANKYOU THAN K YOU !!!!!! YOU SHOULD ALSO TELL ME ABOUT YOUR TAV(S) . IF YOUD LIKE. OR ANYTHING BG3 RELATED REALLY I LOVE HEARING ABOUT THINGS !!!!!! <3 also i intend to draw these two. at some point. i make no promises however you know how it is another note... been thinking about making a third dude for gale or perhaps karlach. but these two r enough fornow.

Hi just wanted to say your art is gorgeous!! :)
I'm curious to know what got you sunk deep into BG3? For me it's the combat, storytelling and freedom of choices in the game!!
And uh, even after 400 over hours later I don't think i'm stopping BG3 anytime soon.
Hi!! Thank you so much, that is very sweet!!!!
ooh hehe good question. Immediately the characters, storytelling and depth of the world made me want to never stop playing tbh. Just wanted to go everywhere and click on and explore everything. Then I quickly got very attached to the main cast and that's what made it impossible for me to put the game down, it's been a long time since I was this emotionally invested in something, and the narratives and aesthetics really lend themselves to artistic inspiration too so it really rejuvenated my art.
And SOOO TRUE with the freedom of choices, I LOVE branching paths and far-reaching consequencesin games, and BG3 is an absolute beast at letting you do literally anything. Like the breadth of possibilities both gameplay-wise and story-wise is insanee and I'm just constantly in awe of the amount of effort put into it. And on a narrative level, the stories would be good even if they were linear right, but being able to see what COULD be if you'd done things differently makes your choices feel all the more valuable? Like Selunite Shadowheart is made more special by you being able to see DJ Shadowheart. Now I'm rambling bc I started thinking about Shadowheart again
