Your Sky - Ep. 8 The Pink Episode!

It has to be tough being a communicative Yellow Yal who only wears blue now being in a fake relationship with a perfect Blue Boy.

Because Rak wants to tell Fah all his feelings, but Fah is just soooo perfect and he probably would NEVER want to be in a real relationship with Rak.

So thank goodness Rak has his buddies to to track him down when he runs away in fear like Pink Person Joy.

And Green Guy Type, who I'm pretty sure is in love or already dating Joy since he is wearing pink.

Because team work makes this Yellow Yal's dream work.

Since BOTH boys are in love with each other!

They've been for awhile.

And so have both of these fools!

But I get Black Brooder Real's hesitation.

It's clear that he is in love with Hia.

But Hia is a Red Rascal, so even though he balances out Real's stoic demeanor,

We can never be sure if he is just being his usual flirty self or if he really likes Real.

Like in his Real's room, I was unsure what Hia was doing, and so was Real.

Well, until the pink lighting fully showed up to do its job.

I think Hia knows Real's heart flutters for him but has been trying to tease it out of Real, like a Red Rascal would.

And he got results since pink = 💕love💕

These two color-coded boys are also getting results with their rooftop color-coded lights.

Fah confesses that he has liked Rak for a while, and shows Rak the picture he drew of him on the rooftop, in yellow.

Which goes well for both of them!

In fact, both brothers get their man by using the arts as their wingman since even Lee makes strides with his guy as the pink backs him!

But @poetry-protest-pornography, now I need to know if Lee's color is blue or purple since the book about the moon (aka him) was purple just like Lee's purple straw last week.

Because in a show where the iPad cases give the colors away,

I'm not sure since Lee's isn't purple.

But I confidently know his brother is a Blue Boy through and through.

Since Rak keeps wearing his color and even the smiley face display is happy from them.

Favorite Things: Your Sky

First, you had us at fake dating. We are huge suckers for this trope when it is well done and they did it SO well!!! This show felt like the writers sat down and said, "How can we make the most over the top main couple that is sickeningly cute and sweet with every green flag you can imagine?" Then they added the best big sister ever, doting parents with too much love... (for the most part), amazing friends, great side couples, and a freaking puppy. This show gave us serious cuteness aggression! And just when you forgot it was a Domundi series, they start delivering the spice in EPIC proportions until you can no longer remember how shy and cute their relationship started.

Agree so much with @axibani. We LOVED that Fah is so gentle and reassuring to Rak. He wants Rak to be ready. Not only does Meunfah not pressure him, but he is constantly checking in and watching and stops the second he sees Teerak's hesitation. Absolutely love how caring and respectful Meunfah is. 100% green flag. Plus, consent is so hot.

😳 We had to make a NC 18+ appreciation post. The chemistry in this show was off the charts. The scenes were so spicy and sweet and fluffy that we decided it could only be considered Jalapeño Cotton Candy.

We absolutely loved how the desire between Muenfah and Teerak was mutually intense, like in this scene posted by @kittycaths when Teerak takes the lead. This super sweet series gave us an unexpected amount of spice and the chemistry between Thomas and Kong was wild!

Episode 12 gave us so much cute between Fah and Rak 😍 @tortibomb posted a collection of some of these sweetest moments in this compilation of GIFS.

Episode 11 was nightmare fuel and Teerak's fears were justified. Makes you wonder what made him doubt his father's love would be unconditional when it came to coming out. But as much as this blindsided us, we realize that was the actual point.

Your Sky: Episode 3

This week sped by and I only rewatched the previous episode once before we got a new one. Three episodes in and this show might just take the 2024 crown for me. I absolutely adore this show. The giddiness and excitement I feel not only watching it but waiting for and anticipating its release each week should be studied.

There are so many things I loved about this episode, each one just gets better. Thomas and Kong and the entire cast are doing a great job, I just love it SO much. This post might get a little lengthy (the details!), so please forgive me.

We pick up where we left off last time, on the rooftop where Punlee has assigned them to take more convincing couple-y pics. (Mind you, I don't need to be convinced, I am sold!) But Muenfah is always heart eyed staring at Teerak. He just looks at him with such love and adoration, I am wholeheartedly sure that there is more to this story and that the pretending is just a happy convenience somehow. Muenfah is so gentle and respectful of Teerak it squeezes my heart into a million tiny pieces. He never seeks to make him uncomfortable or overstep any boundaries without Teerak's consent, and if he does so unintentionally, he never fails to apologize. Teerak is also incredibly considerate of everyone around him, but especially Muenfah. He doesn't wish to burden him in any way or put him in any uncomfortable situations either. These two sweet, beautiful boys are perfect for each other already. The rooftop montage of them just letting go and enjoying each other's presence is so precious I could scream.

Secondly, I LOVE this friend group! Not only are their group facetimes adorable but the way they rally together to protect Teerak is the greatest thing ever. They know Teerak's heart is too big, pure and kind to be mean or tell someone off even if it causes him discomfort. But instead of getting angry with him for it, they encourage him and then step in for him when he can't. Everyone deserves a friend group like them.

The elevator scene was so brilliant I had to rewind it. Muenfah has perfect timing doesn't he? He picked up on the situation so quickly (the differing facial expressions from each friend cracked me up) and he stepped in, but not until he glanced at Teerak for quick confirmation each time. (I adore him!) The fierce friend group stepping in to deter him from interrupting them was hilarious. Also, Muenfah stopping to ask Teerak if he wanted to go take pictures with Oh, just in case he overstepped. Gosh this boy. It seems so basic but it literally gets missed a lot. He respects Teerak, full stop and he would do anything to make him comfortable and happy.

Teerak with a pink-colored heart shirt on as he texts and asks a smiling Muenfah about their planned deep talk, "...based on understanding and mutual respect for one another." Real and Hia pick up on Muenfah's giddiness and tease him about it and about his world turning pink. He cannot let his friends know that he is in love forreal with his fake boyfriend. (Muenfah, my love, you're doing a terrible job.)

The rooftop assignment date! Muenfah is so tender in the way he looks at Teerak. Drawing him, when he draws things he likes! Teerak in both of their colors! Their talk is so cute. Being so open, Muenfah gently dismantling all of the preconceived notions Teerak has about him. Muenfah knowing Teerak's favorite foods and cooking them for him! Being so smitten with him drawing on his omelet, and then allowing him to draw on his portion, too, even though it's clear he doesn't like ketchup. There is no way Fah is not gone for Rak already. Him lying about the dishes also being his favorites to cover his tracks, he could've said Lee told him, HA! The way they just enjoy being in each other's presence and they smile so much when they're together.

Rak and Lee taking snacks to Muenfah. Oh showing up. Not only is this man persistent, aggressive and creepy. He's downright delusional! "Teerak are you here for me? Will you come to see me play? Will you cheer for me?" Obviously not. Thank goodness for Lee being such a fierce, sassy, and protective bestie and brother. Muenfah again with the perfect timing! He came in with a smile because he was happy to see his fake boyfriend, only to have it wiped right off at seeing Oh. I love that he once again doesn't overstep his boundaries when it comes to Teerak, he looks to him for confirmation first, then he asks if they're done speaking before he attempts to lead him away. I love the way he gives advice and encourages Teerak to learn to stop people-pleasing, and in turn Teerak also encourages him about his flaws, too. In a space where Muenfah is often misunderstood with unfounded rumors spread about him, he doesn't scold him for being hot-headed, he takes Muenfah as he is. These two boys are learning to care for and understand each other more each day. "Gosh, I made the right choice." My dear, sweet Muenfah.. what do you mean by that? Teehee. "I'm not [good at showing love], I'm learning it from you." *squealing, screaming.*

Teerak making cheer signs for Muenfah. Babe coming in to give totally fake dating advice and having to stop herself from mentioning that couples kiss and *cough* is so funny. What would we do without her and Punlee? The nicknames... hello?! "Naughty Baby" (Muenfah.. do you have something you want to tell us?) and "P'Fah", so precious. Real and Hia comes as a surprise to none of us but we all love it just the same, I need more of these two. The blue Your Sky and yellow The Sun is so Muenfah and Teerak-coded. Muenfah already looking for Teerak in the crowd before the game started, omg. The signs are so cute and the friends are so supportive. Punlee's soul leaving his body having to cheer for Muenfah is so little brother-coded, I'm giggling. Real, if having a lover seems so nice... why don't you get you one, hmm? Fah really is hot-headed but who wouldn't be with a rival like Oh?

Teerak yelling from the stands to calm him down is so Troy and Gabriella coded but was nonetheless adorable (everyone staring at me would've made me collapse though, never to be seen again). Teerak is very important to Muenfah already. Real living to annoy Hia. I think it's going to take Hia being bold to move this along. (Fah and Rak definitely peeped their arm holding.) Teerak offering Muenfah a reward and not realizing that he, himself is the reward. Poor, clueless baby.

I do not trust Oh as far as I can throw him. He seems obsessed with Teerak, and bitter towards Muenfah, not only for the punch but because he has Teerak, even if he doesn't fully believe that they're together. He seems to be getting more angry, and anger leads to danger. I just hope our babies are prepared for whatever he has in store for them.

Next week is going to be so precious, we get a date and an outing with all the friends and siblings. I just know Oh is going to find a way to ruin our bliss. But I have faith in FahRak and their fierce little found family. Happy fake dating!

Ok now, I will continue to talk about the preview set up. Because I adore it so much. It's what I always dream a bl/gl will treat a coming out scene, and even more.

The thing I want to talk about is how that scene will hurt Rak and Fah pretty much equally. And makes change in their worldview.

Teerak is obvious, so I don't need to expand too much. But Teerak is losing the love of his family, the love who shape his whole identity. Realizing that the people who are suppose to love him unconditionnally might not accept him if he doesn't fufill their expectations. And probably to have to make a choice between his romantically love and his familial love. Definitely has to fight for it. And challenge his people pleaser tendancy and stand up for what he wants.

But episode 6 establish that Fah knows the Nirun parents.

This show that Fah already had some interactions with Teerak's dad. Interactions that are positive, seeing what they are saying here. They aren't close, which is why Papa Nirun doesn't know Fah's nickname. Babe refers to Fah as Muenfah here, while Teerak refers to him as P'Fah. He probably didn't make the connection the two are the same person. But they definitely has enough interaction to recognize him. And seeing the dad's personality he must had been nice and welcoming to Fah.

So, I think Fah is pretty sure that the meeting will go well. While he always understand Rak's stress and anxiety, himself was pretty self assure and chill about it. And that because he never actually face homophobia. Like Fah is a secretive, introvert person. He would never tell anyone he isn't close about himself. The school know because that's what FahRak fake dating relationship is asking and let's be real, Fah knows that his chance to get closer to Teerak and he doesn't care of people he isn't close opinion. So even, if someone in their school is homophobic he 1) wouldn't care 2) his Scary Looker and mafia vibe rumors on him probably make people scare to do anything to him and Teerak.

For Fah close one and people he actually care of their opinion. His parents spend his whole life to make sure he and his brother know they are okay with whoever they bring in the family. Speaking of his brother, let's be real here, Lee is like 30% of the reason Fah is able to date Rak as of now lol. He wingman him like a champ. Honestly, I think Muenfah should sponsor leeghlai first date lmao. Fah knows Lee is more than okay with FahRak being together. And it's not even talking about Lee is queer himself. Real and Hia? I think Muenfah has spend so much time third wheel them, to know they can't say anything about it. And they show more than once they are happy for Fah's happiness and they adore Rak. And for Dom and Babe, once again, they show they are supportive.

Which now bring to the preview with Teerak's dad reaction. We know Fah cares about Rak's family opinion. We see Fah adoring when Rak is having fun with his family. Muenfah is the happiest when he sees his parents doting on Rak or Punlee and Teerak teasing each other. I won't be surprise he wants that too. He wants Rak's family to accept him, the same way they accept Dom. And he knows that he already has Babe's support and trust. Of course, he has, because they were friends first! And again, he has positive interaction with the family before.

So, the flip will shock him a lot. Because for the first time, he will see how being queer affect people relationship. The dad who was so kind to him when he was his daughter's friend, is turning on him now he is his son's boyfriend. He is flipping on him, for something he can't control off. He can't control his feelings for Rak. He loves him and always will. He probably doesn't know how to deal with that, to deal to someone he has respect and values the opinion not accepting him.

And I adore that because that's a reality a lot of queers people live it. And while, I know the dad will turn around at the end and accept Fah as a member of the family. And because, I believe a lot of his reasons to be against it, is the result of internalize homophobia, I do think it's interesting to treat that subject. Especially by showing the dad watching bl before. And sees his evolution from "weird, but entertaining media" (bc that's how it always felt to me. His reaction wasn't ALLY ALLY, but curious and amused, a odd little hobby) to actually accepting, maybe thanks to bl who knows.

And while I think the series will focus on Rak side of the struggle, I do find interesting, this will affect Fah in a deeper level too. And I hope we have a little talk about it too.

I don’t know if Hia knows they’re fake dating or if he’s just aware that his friend has no idea how to Relationship.

Jesus Christ, Fah. 1) the whole plan is to practice being physically closer and 2) you’ve never had a problem sitting next to each other before.

Why does Rak ask permission from Babe for stuff rather than his parents?

This escalation by Fah would make more sense if Rak had actually gotten hurt. But he just fell down. Also, all those punches but Oh’s face isn’t a mess? Unbelievable.

I cannot hear “Let me give you a ride” without thinking of Phum from We Are.

You’re trying to make me feel bad for Oh, but I don’t. Like, yeah, his mom’s been focused on her image instead of him, but that doesn’t excuse you ruining someone’s company or forcing yourself on someone or being a slimy dick to people.

The difference in aesthetics for their clothes here is so wild. I will say though that I like that there's wardrobe repetition. That's not always common in TV, and it really fucks with the believability. I know it's more common in Thai BL, but that's mostly bc so many involve ppl that wear a uniform of some sort (looking at you University BLs).

Idk if it's because it's at the front of his mind, or if Mut's kind of easy acceptance of everything makes it seem easy...idk.

Ruh-ro raggy .... Rak thinks this is gonna be a failed experiment because he truly doesn't think real love exists, but I fear he will be wrong (this is a romance after all).

I'm curious about Mut's motivations though. I believe he believes in love. I also think he wants Rak to, or maybe just for Rak to have some peace? Idk. He's surprisingly hard to read. As much as I think he likes Rak (both as a person and a sex partner) I don't think he's fallen in love with him at this point.

Hmm oof i am probably not the best person to be asking this cause I dont write fics or anything but I’ll do my best

So i realized that i just wrote plot stuff but im posting anyway cause i spent way too long on this ahaha

Headcanons:

Khun would be that subtle overprotective boyfriend 

He’d just kinda silently watch from afar but he’d totally kill anybody who hurt bam in any way, shape, or form

But he’d like be SUPER sweet with bam like

Pet names yall PET NAMES like khun and bam would prob both mutually melt when they call each other pet names

Khun would always help bam with hw and whatnot, let’s pretend bam’s a physics genius cause thats just how i imagine him in modern life, always has trouble with law class (he’s  taking it just for khun so he can understand what khun’s talking about) so khun helps him

Khun would be a super smooth talker, can woo a n y b o d y, exceptional at speeches, captain of speech and debate team

Khun would never admit he’s jealous but like the whole gang would know (except for bam who’s clueless as usual)

takes place season 3, right after bam beats the ranker and khun/hwa ryun spread propaganda through the tower. it’s really fluffy. while also dealing with questions of morality, priorities, the plot itself, etc. also shibisu is best wingman ever.

���How’s Bam holding up?” Shibisu’s voice rang over Khun’s pocket, echoing slightly within the large, empty bedroom he found himself in. Khun, who was lying on his back in the middle of a massive bed, stared holes into the ceiling as he contemplated their current situation.

“The same as usual. You know him, Isu.” He sighed audibly, feeling exasperated. “Taking on too much at once because he feels obligated to, and acting like everything’s fine.”

His plan had been successful. Whether that was a good or bad thing, he wasn’t sure yet.

As they spoke, rumors about a C-rank regular strong enough to take down a ranker were spreading like wildfire throughout the tower. Bam’s single fight in the testing center was what had ignited the flames, acting as a catalyst for the mass movement Khun knew was building. Soon enough, all of their ‘pawns’ would line up like dominoes, ready to fall when Bam gave the signal.

It was the work of his and Hwa Ryun’s scheming. The level of propaganda they built up around the great Jyu Viole Grace was enough to make even FUG elders stir.

He should be excited, playing a main role in designing such an event. Truthfully, all he felt was anxious-- like he was sending his best friend to his death. Not that he would show it around Bam.

“Yeah, I do. But I also know you, and I bet you’re doing the same thing, aren’t you?”

“...” Khun scowled at the ceiling, but didn’t bite back. He was too tired. It seemed like everyone had something to say about how he handled things when Bam was around lately. “What I’m doing doesn’t really take that much effort. Especially compared to what Bam has to face, soon. Leading a battle against Jahad’s army…”

“Well, Bam probably feels like that, too. Like what he’s doing isn’t enough compared to what he really wants to do. Y’know?”

Damn. Shibisu, as always, hit the nail on the head. It was infuriating, having his double standards being pointed out like this.

It wasn’t like he was wrong, though. Of course he understood how Bam felt. That’s why Khun would do everything in his power to support him-- so that when he ran into battle recklessly, he wouldn’t be going alone, or acting as some kind of sacrifice.

Khun had to prepare everything perfectly so that wouldn’t happen.

“Why did you call, Isu?” He asked, annoyance seeping into his tone. “I didn’t pick up so you could psychoanalyze me. There’s still things I need to finish before we set the date.”

“Oi, oi. I’m just looking out for my friends.”

“Well, that’s great and all, but if you have so much free time, you should spend it collecting souls. We need all the help we can get before showtime.”

“Yes, my prince.” Shibisu responded sarcastically. “I’ll get going in a minute. Don’t worry, we’ve already stored a lot. Look, I just think you two should find a way to destress before everything goes to shit. You gotta rest your minds as well as your bodies, you know? Overworking yourselves won’t make this plan succeed any better.”

“... Maybe you’re right…” he was pretty exhausted. Not to mention, ever since that other guide yelled at Bam so harshly, he seemed out of sorts. As in… he was way too invested in training with Evankhell, while also spending his downtime sulking on his own.

Khun felt powerless. Like he could only watch. He was terrible at finding the words to give pep talks, so his only piece of advice had been ‘ignore her and push onwards.’

“Even so. I don’t know what we could possibly do to ‘relax’ in a situation like this…”

“Why don’t you try ‘that’?”

“Huh?” Khun quirked a brow at his pocket questioningly, though he knew Shibisu couldn’t see his face anyway. “I have no idea what you’re talking about. Be more specific, Isu.”

“Something mindless and nostalgic. Like sparklers.”

“Hmmm.” Was all Khun replied with, not wanting to give his thoughts away. It was actually a great idea when he considered it, a faint image of a younger, brightly smiling Bam with fireworks shimmering in his eyes flashing in his mind.

“Well, just consider it.” As Shibisu spoke, Khun palmed his face. He wanted to groan, but Shibisu already knew more than enough about how he felt, so instead he rolled onto his side to face his pocket and just frowned.

He wanted to see Bam smile like that again.

“Huh, what’s that, Hatsu? Okay, yeah, I’m coming!” Shibisu’s voice was muffled for a moment. “Hey, Khun. I gotta go. Just make sure you two get some rest, alright?”

“Yeah.” Khun acknowledged. “Thanks a lot for what you guys are doing. It’ll probably... determine whether or not Bam lives through this.”

“No problem. See ya!”

Khun knocked twice at the door. No immediate answer.

“Bam?” He called, opening the door anyway. Inside, he found Bam sitting by the edge of his bed, staring at the ground.

“Khun…” Bam finally glanced up to meet Khun’s gaze, wearing a solemn expression that tugged at his heartstrings.

Shibisu’s words preaching about avoiding mental exhaustion echoed in his head, and Khun let out a quiet sigh, stepping over to where Bam sat. Perching beside him, his hand reached into his coat pocket where the box of sparklers was nestled comfortably, but he didn’t quite pull it out yet, choosing to fidget with it instead as he contemplated what to do.

“... Bam,” he started, after a moment of heavy silence. “How’s training with Evankhell going?”

“Fine.” Bam replied, though Khun didn’t miss the way he clenched his fists. “I just wonder… if it will be enough.”

“You shouldn’t worry about things like that before they happen, Bam.” He wasn’t good at giving reassurance, but he couldn’t stand by while Bam worried himself to death. “Are you still thinking about what Soo-oh said?”

“Yeah. She was right. I… was selfish, trying to make people throw away their lives for me like that…”

“It’s not as if they didn’t have their own stake in the battle.” Khun gently reminded him. “They might not want to take this next fight with you, but that’s not a reflection of your person.”

“... I wonder how many people will die this time. If I gathered them… for my own battles… wouldn’t it be my fault?”

“The people who show up will be those who have an issue with Jahad already. They’ll be fighting for themselves. You’re only giving them a chance for revenge that they’ve always wanted to take.”

“What if no one comes?”

“That won’t happen.” Khun’s brows furrowed at the thought, knowing exactly what Bam would do if that were the case. He refused to think about it. “Hwa Ryun and I are tracking everything. Unrest has already started-- people are beginning to move. Probably, in a week’s time, the stage will be set…”

“...” Bam’s face fell, and Khun’s heart sank.

“... Bam,” Khun reached a hand up to gently grab Bam’s shoulder in what was meant to be a comforting gesture. As he thought, this was no time to simply pull out the sparklers and suggest to throw a party. He had to be strategic about how to get Bam to relax… probably, just framing it as a favor he could do for himself would be the best way. “Will you do something for me?”

“What do you need, Khun?” Bam lifted his head immediately, and though his expression still seemed sad, he looked determined to help.

Perfect.

“I need you to meet me somewhere tonight. It’s pretty important.” Khun gave Bam’s shoulder a quick, soothing rub, smiling at him encouragingly. “Can you do that for me, Bam? Do you have the time?”

“I do. What are we doing?” Bam inquired, staring at him quizzically. Khun, who fingered the box of sparklers hidden in his coat pocket, just hummed in response.

“A team activity.” He removed his hand from his coat, and stood up. “To make sure we’re on the same page. Does that sound good to you, Bam?”

“Yeah. That seems fine. If you think it’s necessary, Khun.”

“Great. Outside my room, eight sharp.” Khun winked playfully and turned towards the door, lifting a hand in farewell. He didn’t think too long about the hint of a smile he caught pulling at Bam’s lips before he turned his back to him, in fear he might stick around. “See you then-- get some rest, okay?”

“... You too, Khun. Don’t push yourself too hard.”

Khun hid his grin as he departed.

“Black turtle! You’re on time!” Rak dabbed excitedly in greeting.

“Rak!” Bam glanced at Khun questioningly, who stood against the wall with his arms crossed, smirking. “Is anyone else joining us?”

“Nope! Just us three. Is that okay with you?”

“Well, I’m still not sure what we’re doing…”

“I see.” Khun flashed a small smile Bam’s way, unable to help his good mood. After spending nearly the whole day thinking about it, he realized how long it had been since they had a calm, content moment to simply exist. From the second he’d woken up, it felt like both time and series of events were passing far too quickly for his liking.

Sure, they accomplished a lot, but he had wasted two years in a coma. Khun wanted to actually spend time with Bam like he had in the past… especially with their situation escalating in such a scary way.

Who knew when the next goodbye would be their last.

“Do you have the box, blue turtle?”

“Iii~diot. Of course I do. Let’s get going, Bam.”

“Box?”

“You’ll see soon.”

Outdoors, the ‘sky’ had already darkened some time ago. Despite understanding it was fake, a synthetic creation of the tower, Khun hadn’t lived his life knowing any different. To him, it might as well be the real deal. For Bam, considering Rachel’s original goals, Khun wondered how the sky looked to him recently.

With a floating lighthouse to guide the path, they walked a little ways away from the building, settling near a hill. A cool, comforting breeze washed over them. Khun was glad he wore a jacket, wondering to himself if Bam was chilly without one.

After a moment of thinking about it, he peeled his coat away, but not before removing the box of sparklers.

“Don’t get sick.” Khun draped the coat over Bam’s shoulders with a small smile. Bam blinked at him.

“Won’t you get cold, though…?”

“I’ll be fine, Bam.”

“But your temperature is difficult to regulate sometimes, right? I don’t want you to fall ill because of me.”

“Oi, blue turtle! Are you gonna light the sticks, or are we going to just stand around in the dark?!”

“Don’t spoil it, you dumb crocodile. Geez… now I have to.” Guess there was no point in waiting any longer. Through the faint glow of his lighthouse, he smiled briefly at Bam in reassurance, pulling out the box soon after and removing a sparkler.

“Khun-- are those…?” Khun didn’t miss the way Bam’s eyes widened.

“Do you mind playing with me for a little while, Bam?” He handed a sparkler over to Rak first with a content smile, knowing he would hear complaints if he didn’t, and took out a lighter.

“But… what about the training…?” Bam gave him a look of concern as Khun handed him his own unlit sparkler.

“This is training. I’m calling it, ‘strengthening your mental fortitude.’”

Khun clicked the lighter, and a flame rose from the tip. Wordlessly, and with an excited grin, he lit the end of Rak’s sparkler, and it burst into a bright, golden show of glitter.

“Is this really okay?” Bam questioned softly, gazing at Rak’s sparkler. Khun carefully watched his expression as it transitioned from worry, to interest, and lastly, to fondness. He could feel the tension leave his shoulders at the sight of Bam lightening up, and he knew right then that this exercise was absolutely the right decision.

“You’re working yourself too hard, Bam.” Smiling his way, he activated his lighter once more, bringing the flame close to the firework in Bam’s hand. It lit up in a flash, coloring the space between them with a soft, yellow glow.

“You are too.” Bam looked over his sparkler at Khun, his brows furrowed as if he had remembered something. “You’ve been working nonstop since I fought that ranker… no, before that. From when you woke up from your coma. Right, Khun?”

“Well…” he tilted his head, expression slightly sheepish. “It was necessary.”

“You’re the last person who should be lecturing me about working too hard!” Bam was almost pouting at this point, and Khun bit back a laugh at the sight.

It was refreshing, to be scolded like this. He pondered over what had changed with Bam’s priorities in the time he’d been missing. Honestly, Khun was accustomed to watching over Bam, and not the other way around-- after all, for the longest time, Bam had his sights set on one person only and it hadn’t been him.

A moment of silence passed. As he looked to the sky once more, thinking about the stars Bam had once been seeking, a wave of nostalgia hit him, and all of a sudden, Khun felt like lighting his own sparkler. Not a minute later and there were three fireworks sputtering, illuminating the dark night surrounding them.

His eyes fell on Bam once more, feeling a strange sense of intimacy undoubtedly influenced by his memories of the past. While watching him, he couldn’t help but remember the Bam he knew from over a decade ago, when they had first met-- staring at his sparkler in mesmerization, simply happy to be alive, surrounded by new friends, and chasing after his goals.

“Hey, Bam…” Khun murmured, his voice soft.

“Hm?” Bam lifted his gaze, and their eyes locked. Khun paused, the cool breeze gently blowing at his hair, tickling against his cheeks. After spending a moment enthralled by the way sparkles darted in and out of Bam’s golden irises, illuminating them in a rich color that made Khun feel like he was home , he finally opened his mouth, and asked--

“Why do you still want to climb the tower?”

It was a loaded question, Khun knew. Although it sounded simple, when unpacked, it held implications about all sorts of things.

How did Bam feel about Rachel? Why did he want to continue climbing the tower if he decided to stop chasing her-- his initial ‘rule,’ his entire reason for forcing the door open in the first place as an irregular? Just what were his motivations, when the journey they currently faced, already challenging to begin with, was no longer simply an ordinary path up?

When every corner they turned further and further endangered their lives, as they pissed off FUG and Jahad alike?

When the people Bam loved were being stripped from him one by one by elite rankers who would stop at nothing to kill them all?

Wars were literally starting for the simple reason that Bam wanted to protect his mentor. It was baffling, yet incredibly understandable, how so many people-- weak and strong alike-- were captivated by Bam; influenced by him into action.

Khun knew he felt Bam’s natural attraction the strongest out of anyone.

“I…” Bam hesitated, staring at Khun with wide eyes. “I just… want the strength… to protect you.”

“Me?” Khun blinked, his lips parting slightly in surprise. “Bam…”

Bam’s eyes fell, and a bittersweet smile tugged at his lips. “I realized… when I lost both you and my mentor so quickly, that I was putting everyone I cared for at risk. Pretending to be selfless, running around saving anyone who needed help, while using my friends to chase after Rachel… I was really just being selfish. It wasn’t selflessness at all.”

“So then, Rachel-- …” Khun trailed off. When he had woken up from his coma, he had talked to Bam over the pocket about it briefly, so he kind of understood his thoughts-- Rachel was no longer his primary goal because she had tried to kill Khun.

Even so. It hadn’t clicked until now what that meant in terms of what Bam was putting everything on the line for. He hadn’t simply stopped once his ties to Rachel were cut. If anything, Bam had become more driven, more desperate.

“I want to go up the tower with you, Khun.” Bam smiled affectionately at him. “And everyone else, of course. I just want to be able to protect everyone who means something to me-- no matter what it takes.”

The last of Khun’s sparkler faded, leaving them with no other light but the purple glow of his lighthouse. He was acutely aware of Rak silently watching them, and he felt a sense of déjà vu-- but he also couldn’t bring himself to care.

Bam’s sights were set on him. The thought permeated his mind.

“Let’s go, Bam. To the top.” Khun said abruptly, the words spilling from his mouth. He found himself reaching an arm out longingly, his hand resting on Bam’s shoulder in a platonic gesture-- but feeling it wasn’t quite enough , he took a step in, and slid his palm up to cup his cheek.

Bam sighed quietly in response, tilting his head into the touch; almost welcoming it.

This was uncharted territory for them, but Khun didn’t care.

“I’ll make sure no one ever hurts you again.” Bam promised.

“I’ll follow you anywhere.” Khun murmured his reply, leaning in and pressing their foreheads together. Through the dark, he couldn’t see Bam’s full expression too well, but he knew he wouldn’t be pushed away-- that they both wanted this.

How many years had he spent waiting, pining?

Their lips delicately brushed together, and Khun immediately craved more. It felt so right, and long overdue. Sturdy arms circled around his waist, fingers clinging to the shirt on Khun’s back, and to his surprise, it was Bam who leaned in, reconnecting their kiss.

He felt he could stay like this forever and be perfectly happy. But they had to get back inside.

Pulling away from the kiss, Khun’s thumb smoothed over Bam’s lips, which were slightly parted. They shared a look through the dark, communicating something silently, and then Khun stepped back completely, wearing a serene smile.

“Let’s go back inside, Bam.” He hoped the implications were clear. If they weren’t, he would make them clear once Rak was gone.

“Okay.”

“I’m so proud… of my turtles… as your leader…!” Khun deadpanned, turning around to meet a sniveling Rak. “It only took you ten years, blue turtle!”

“I’m going to kill you, you damn crocodile--!” He immediately moved to kick him, horrified. Bam didn’t need to hear he’d been waiting for that long, dammit! “What do you think you’re saying, huh?!”

“Khun--” he paused, feeling Bam tug on his hand. “Let’s go back. I want to keep talking.”

“... Consider yourself lucky. Your life’s been spared.”

“I heard the big event’s going down in a week. How are you feeling, Khun?”

“I think we’re ready.” Khun smirked in the devious way he often did when he schemed. “I’ve done all I can to build up the best army possible for Bam. Whatever happens from here, happens. At the very least, we’ll get out with our lives. At the most… we divide and conquer, squashing their ‘war of attrition’ strategy. They’ll underestimate us. We have to use that to our advantage.”
