Going back to my idea/headcannon that Raine and Adrian hate each other, I'd like to elaborate and say that I think in general, illusionists and bards actually get along quite well.

Both of the covens are focused on performance and wowing a crowd with musical talent or theater talent.

They're also the only two that focus on the arts so they complement each other quite well.

Hell, I'd also say that illusionists and bards assist each other even, with illusionists providing the visual effects and actors and bards supplying music to add to scenes to put a full on show on the Boiling Isles.

Music is pretty fundamental to understanding the tone of a scene, with suspenseful music, straight up sounding legitimately terrifying, to sad, melancholy, (and more).

Visuals are well...visuals the create the setting, characters for the audience to relate to, the overall story and dare I say it, the drama.

That being said, Raine and Adrian can see eye to eye on certain things related to fine art/ theater like good storytelling, creating compelling scenes, characterization, and how music sets the tone for scenes, yet they despise each other.

They could put on a show together if they wanted/really committed to it. However they'd never be able to cooperate, with Raine getting fed up with Graye's attention-whore personality and being a perfectionist with his illusions. (Not to mention his vague instructions).

Graye would be so annoyed over how Raine constantly flubs their lines, how they clam up in front of a crowd, or at worst run off the dang stage!

So basically TDLR: Illusionists and bards get along well with each other due to appreciation for the arts, but the Covenheads themselves just can't stand each other.

I swear, these two should've interacted at least ONCE on screen, we were robbed! It'd be so entertaining to see.

Drabble: The Coven Heads And Their Favorite Boy

It was a quiet afternoon on the Boiling Isles. The Coven Heads decided to have a meeting at the Owl House. A certain small starboy with otherwordly fluffy lavender hair and a heart of gold made tea and fresh cookies for everyone.

A little later, Colli fell asleep on his beloved big brother Hunter's lap. The young Grimwalker held him protectively in his arms. "Awwwwwwww! Moonflower is such a little darling!" Terra spoke up, a grandmotherly expression on her face.

"He is such a sweet kid! As you know, I am his doctor. Colli definitely is my favorite patient!" Hettie chimed in. "I feel my heart swell when he refers to me as Uncle!" Adrian said softly. Vitimir, Mason and Osran gave a nod in agreement.

Same for Eberwolf, who was legally Colli's Uncle. "I swear to The Titan, I'm going to punish everyone who has the dumb idea to harm him!" Darius, Colli's Dad, said. Raine, the kindhearted eternal little boy's Baba, couldn't agree more!

Hunter was glad that his beloved little brother had so many people in his life who loved him. The former Golden Guard with silky blonde hair placed soft and loving brotherly kisses all over the immortal celestial boy's adorable multi-colored face. 'My Colli.' Hunter thought.

As a new RC Player (downloaded 2022 but had no time to play more since catching up on old Choices), I totally agree with you. No matter how awful Choices is getting, the good old books will forever remain in my heart. Been Choices Player since 2016. So I understand you. Choices has fallen sooo low. I will miss my beloved Nik Ryder and Nightbound. My Ernest Sinclaire and Damien Nazario.

I better hurry playing Choices, write more fanfics before it's too late. The only hope I have are the really really good fanmade Choices games happening which you can play like a real Choices game. It Lives 3 is already out and Nightbound 2 is currently in work. I played the Demo and it was really good.

I also played Choices since 2016, since there were only two books, I played my favorite books like 10 times each, no exaggeration lol and I will always love these old books (Ernest Sinclaire/Anabelle Parsons, Aster D'Yew, Tom Sato, Adrian Raines, Nik Ryder are forever in my heart ❤️). It's drafty in the bedroom, glass doors flung wide open, gossamer curtains fluttering in the wind. Adrian stands on the balcony, shoulders hunched and tense as he leans over the stone railing. He is a flash of pale sunlight against the grey expanse of the sky beyond. Tossing a throw around your shoulders like a shawl, you creep out to join your beloved in the growing storm.

Shivering, you sidle up next to the dhampir. He passes you a soft smile, one arm pulling you closer into his side and holding you close. Droplets of rain cling to Adrian's eyelashes, golden threads dappled with crystal. Even with the deep creases on his worried forehead and the pursing of his anxious lips, he is a vision.

"What troubles you, my love?" you breathe, brushing some of his rain soaked hair out of his eyes. He exhales through his nose, pressing his forehead to yours, nose gently bumping you.

"Oh," his low voice sounds, reverberating through you, filling you with reassurance, "A number of things. But, none worth talking about right now."

He breathes you in, pressing a gentle kiss to your temple before smoothing the pad of his thumb over your rain dappled cheek. His amber eyes meet yours, affection in every facet.

"When you're ready, we can talk," you return, lips featherlight against his, "Whatever it is, you and I will get through it together."

Two days after the failed heist of the Blade of Morella, word has been put out to keep an eye out for Nick Taylor, now corrupted by darkness. At Kamilah's hotel suite, Stacy looks out the window, wondering. Kamilah joins her, a whisky in hand.

Kamilah - The orders are to bring him to me alive.

Stacy - There are some Nighthunters who will ignore that. It's why he tends to work with Ivy.

Kamilah - Making an enemy out of me would be a foolish idea. We also have people working on a possible solution to remove the corruption from him once he is caught.

ELSEWHERE

At an abandoned warehouse, Clan Sayeed Vampires sneak around to surround Nick as he holds the sword close. Shadows flickering off him like fire. The Vampires descend, but with one swing, all are turned to ash by shadows emitting from the blade. Breathing heavily, Nick falls to his knees, clutching his head in agony.

Now in New York at the Ahmanet Financial building, Kamilah sits at her desk while Stacy sleeps on the sofa. The elevator dings and Adrian Raines steps into her office.

Adrian - Kamilah.

Kamilah - Brother.

He takes a seat opposite her and notices the young woman sleeping.

Adrian - Who is she?

Kamilah - Stacy Green. Her beloved is Nicholas Taylor.

Adrian - Who?

Kamilah brings Adrian up to speed about everything that has happened, the heist, Nick's corruption, the deaths of her clan members, he looks at her in shock.

Adrian - How did the Blade end up in this realm?

Kamilah - I don't know. But it needs to be secured. And Mr Taylor must be brought to me alive.

Adrian - You have my resources at your disposal.

Kamilah - We know where he is, but capturing him will be easier said than done, given that he has the sword.

Coming to, Stacy sits up and looks over at the two Vampires.

Stacy - What did I miss?

Adrian stands as Stacy get up onto her feet and extends his hands to her as she approaches.

Adrian - Adrian Raines.

Stacy shakes his hand.

Stacy - Stacy.

She looks to Kamilah.

Stacy - Any news on Nick?

Kamilah gestures for both to sit down.

Kamilah - He's been located in an old warehouse. But he's dangerous. The power the sword has given him. He killed a group of Vampires in one swing.

Stacy - Then let me try to get through to him.

Kamilah - He could kill you.

Stacy - Just let me try.

Adrian - She could have a chance.

Kamilah sighs.

Kamilah - Fine. But we're going with you, just in case.

Stacy looks at Adrian and he nods.

Stacy - Okay...

Arriving at the warehouse, Stacy, Kamilah, and Adrian meet with Katherine and Atlas, who have been keeping watch.

Atlas - And this is?

Stacy - None of your concern.

Kamilah - What's happening?

Katherine - I think the sword is doing something to him. Can't tell what. He's in some kind of pain.

Taking a deep breath, Stacy steels herself as she opens the door and steps inside with the Vampires behind her. While Kamilah and Adrian stick to the shadows, Stacy follows the sounds of Nick's pained shouts and groans. In an open section, she finds him curled on the floor with his hands clutching his head, the sword in one of them.

Stacy - Nick?

He looks over at her, and she sees for the first him just how the sword has changed him. She raises her hands to him.

Stacy - It's alright. It's just me. Stacy. You remember?

He lets out another shout, grabbing his head and she gets closer to him.

Stacy - What's wrong? How can I help?

The shadowy flames flicker, and white flames join the mix.

Nick - Stacy...

Stacy - I'm here...

Nick - My... mind...

Stacy - What is it?

More white flames take the blade and Nick's eyes return to their normal colour.

Nick - It's like there's two pieces of me at war with each other.

Stacy kneels down, placing her hands over his, being careful not to touch the sword. As she sees the two colours battle on the blade, she knows what needs to happen.

Stacy - Concentrate on my voice.

He looks up at her, and she can see how much pain he is in.

Stacy - You've fought the darkness for years, and that's all this is, another fight. And I'll be right here with you.

Nick - Stacy...

The blade changes. Light consumes the blade and Nick feels it's grip hold on him release and he drops it. The black veins and greyness in his skin fades as he falls unconscious. Stacy holds him for a bit as Kamilah and Adrian approach and Kamilah removes her blazer, using it pick up the sword. Adrian picks the unconscious Nick up as Stacy stands.

Kamilah - Well done.

Stacy - What will you do with it?

Kamilah looks down at the sword.

Kamilah - Either find a way to return it to Morella or store it somewhere safe.

Opening his eyes, Nick sits up, rubbing his head as his vision comes into focus.

Nick - Where am I?

Stacy enters the room, rushing over when she sees that he is awake. She pulls him into a hug, catching him off guard.

Nick - What happened?

Stacy - You were corrupted by the Blade.

Stacy tells him what happened, what he did, and how he was freed from the corruption. Nick brings his arms up around her, closing his eyes as he holds her. His voice a whisper.

Nick - Thank you...

They remain like that for a while before parting. Once he has some more suitable clothes on, Nick steps out with Stacy into the penthouse Kamilah was using.

Stacy - How do you feel?

Nick holds his wrist, looking down at it.

Nick - Weird. I feel... different, but I don't know how.

Stacy - Well, there is one physical difference.

Nick gives her quizzing look. She untucks some of his hair from behind his ear and puts it in front of his eye. He looks at his reflection in the window to see that his hair is now completely black.

Nick - Okay... that's a new one.

Stacy - I think it suits you.

Nick - Think it'll fade? Like dye?

Stacy - Only one way to find out.

Nick tucks it back behind his ear and Stacy takes his hand in hers. They share a soft kiss and Nick holds her again.

Nick - I love you.

Stacy - Love you too. What do you say to going home?

Nick - I think that sounds good.

NEW YORK, ONE DAY LATER

Placing the wrapped sword in a chest, Kamilah lowers the lid and locks it before leaving. Adrian leans against the wall outside, and with him, Ivy waits.

Ivy - Is it secure?

Kamilah - No one will get their hands on it.

Ivy - Is Nick okay?

Kamilah - He's returned home with Miss Green.

Adrian - No lasting effects?

Kamilah - Apart from a change of hair colour, no. Despite his corruption, he seems to be quite the Nighthunter.

Ivy - He's one of the good ones.

Kamilah places a code in and the vault door closes. She turns to Ivy and the two shake hands.

Kamilah - Until the next time.

Ivy nods before turning away and opening one of her portals. Once it closes, Adrian looks at Kamilah.

Adrian - So what now?

Kamilah - Now we return to our lives.

WESTCHESTER

Now home, Nick adds the details of the case to his journal along with a sketch of the sword. He looks at the drawing, hoping to remember the period he was corrupted, but gets nothing.

Stacy - You okay?

He closes the journal, not wanting to think about the case anymore.

Nick - Yeah. Just trying to remember. But nothing.

Stacy - Maybe for the best.

She sits on his lap, looping her arms around his neck and capturing his lips with hers. The kiss deepens, and Nick stands, picking Stacy up as he does. He carries her to the bedroom, and she kicks the bedroom door closed...

F1 Re-Watch 2013: Round 1 - Australia

Well, given how the past few days have gone, I thought I’d have to sideline my next full-season re-watch, but for the moment here we are!

Long story short, I had way more fun than I expected watching the 2022 season back. So I decided I wanted to watch another season in full (only one with much more personal enjoyment value) so I put up a poll and 2013 won. 

Which is very fitting, as 2013 was the year I got back into watching F1, but a little more story time on that when we get to Spain and Canada.

While I watched all of the races from the second half of the season, I think I only watched 3 or 4 races from the first half in full. So a lot of these races I will have never seen before, including Aus (the irony of calling this a re-watch is not lost on me). So much rambling aside, let’s jump on in!

I forgot to add that the first three races will be out of sequence as I watched Malaysia in honour of Multi-21 day back in March

(I realise this now makes me somewhat of an elder in the fandom and... well it’s too late in the evening my time to be mulling over shit like that)

Jenson in 9th... 2013 was the start of McLaren’s current woes and it was a painful year as a Jenson fan 

meanwhile, Raikkonen passes Lewis for P4. the Lotus is zoomy.

[Lap 3]: Man it does feel so strange seeing all the old team names (for any newbies, a lot of the teams on the grid now were teams from the 2013 grid rebranded. That’s why Alpine sometimes get called Team Enstone and Aston Martin Team Silverstone bc they got rebranded so much but the personnel mostly stayed the same).

but anyway a clean first few laps, on the first race of a new season, with a tiny bit of racing???? besties we did not know how good we had it.

Seb just zooming off into the distance. He didn’t win in Aus, but still the story of 2013.

“How long will these super soft tyres last?” it’s been ten years, and yet we still hate on Pirelli. oh my.

[Lap 4]: heh. remember when Perez was a McLaren driver that one time?? (spoiler alert it didn’t end well)

Not Fernando nearly crashing into Lewis at the start bc they were both trying to avoid a very slow Mark. FELLAS.

and Jenson is the first car to stop, supers for mediums.

[Lap 5]: ahem TEEEEEED!!!!!

oh wow he thinks the go-to strategy for the race is a 3 stop. a 3 stop.

It’s been 84 years.

One stop races used to be impressive bc of making the tyres last. but now they’re the norm and quite boring.

[Lap 6]: anyway replays of Dan racing van der Garde (Caterham). Midfield spice!!!

[Lap 7]: The Ferrari’s are both catching Seb. Seb’s tyres are also looking very unhealthy.

and in he pits for his first stop.

[Lap 8]: Massa is still ahead of Alonso. my eye is twitching.

nvm Massa pits to give Fernando the lead.

That’s what, three race leaders in 8 laps???

[Lap 9]: oooh Seb jumped Massa at his first stop. nice.

“Have Ferrari made a mistake with not covering Sebastian Vettel?” ...have Ferrari EVER had a functioning strategy department????

oh wow Raikkonen chasing down Alonso... it really is the 2010s. They even follow each other into the pits.

and they maintain their positions coming out of the pits, just further down the grid.

ah yes, 2013 aka try to tell the Merc driver apart by their different shades of yellow helmet. (Nico’s was a brighter yellow, Lewis’ a more sunflower yellow, fyi)

[Lap 15]: And Rosberg pits, giving the lead of the race to... Adrian Sutil. Breathe it in folks.

“evidence there of McLaren’s lack of pace” for comparison, Jenson and McLaren won in Australia the year prior. They were very average for the two seasons before the dreaded Honda years.

[Lap 16]: Anyway I’m just trying to soak up a Force India leading the race. Go get it Team Silverstone.

The main reason why he’s still leading is because he started on the mediums as he qualified outside the top ten (2013 was also way back when you had to start on the tyre you set your Q3 lap on if you were in the top 10)

ah. so they think that Sutil holding up the front runners helps Merc in trying to pull off a two stop.

(this was also way back when we had just two dry compounds of tyre per race instead of the three we have now)

[Lap 22]: Sutil finally makes his first stop, and Seb makes his second.

And Sutil stays ahead of Seb, and they come out behind the Ferraris.

Fun fact, Bradley Joyce of ‘BRAAAAAAAD’ fame, who is now head engineer at Aston, was Sutil’s race engineer.

Just to hammer home how bad a race Webber is having, he just passed Perez for 10th.

[Lap 39]: So, Alonso in the lead, Sutil P2, Raikkonen P3. Not the top 3 I expected to by typing out. I’m pretty sure that Force India finish off the podium but yeah, still very wild.

[Lap 40]: And Alonso makes his final stop, he comes out behind Raikkonen.

and Seb passes Lewis for P4.

Sutil still has to stop bc he needs to run the super softs.

Massa racing Lewis and it lasted all of two seconds bc of Lewis’ 2-stop strategy.

[Lap 41]: And Dan DNFs with a mechanical fault. He has the worst luck at Albert Park I swear

[Lap 42]: Webber chasing down Di Resta for 8th.

Ooooh and a nice move under braking going into turn 9

[Lap 43]: and Lewis switches over to a 3 stop. He comes out in 6th.

And Raikkonen takes the lead off Sutil, while Alonso is chasing both of them down nearly hand over fist.

[Finish]: And Raikkonen wins! Alonso P2, Seb P3.

Massa, Lewis, Webber, Sutil, di Resta, Jenson and Romain Grosjean round out the Top 10.

Well! That was certainly more eventful than I expected, mainly due to trying and failing to keep track of all the pitstops. But we did get some nice splashes of racing, especially in the midfield. And more than expected whiplash of “OH!!! It’s that person!!!”. I will hopefully get used to the 2013 grid again after a few races 😅

But overall, a pretty decent race. As mentioned at the start of the post, I’ve already watched Malaysia, so the next race will be China, and then we’ll be in sync with the 2013 calendar!

Notes:

Not many people braved coming to the gym.  It was raining. 

Alicia’s B.I.L. Lonnie was here from Florida to buy a pickup truck.  Lonnie and sister Tori are the original reason Alicia ever found LHCF.  It’s a long and beautiful story.  Anyway they were here and Lonnie brought me 3 T-Shirts.  I only had 1 to give him.  They both stayed for part of the wine tasting but left without sampling any.  Somehow B.I.L. Lonnie inhibited Alicia’s usual drunkenness.  

Somehow sweet Sue is a Rabbi.  Who would have guessed?  Sue had to chug a few glasses of wine and rush to a rabbinical interview.  Apparently Sue is in charge of hiring new Rabbi’s.  I,  being a retiree with much time on his hands, volunteered to be a part-time rabbi.  Sweet Sue kindly said she would e-mail an application to me.  However, she forgot to get my e-mail address.

Six of our boys hung around until all the wine was exhausted.  During this time many of the world’s most vexing problems were addressed.  Timmy and Ed mainly listened and stretched..  Miss LInda left Coach alone very early.  Herb, Chase, Joe, Dyer and others were not available for comment.

Lots of LHCF members are out of town this weekend.  Also your beloved owner -coach.    Lew and Robert are your volunteer coach’s.  Hopefully several others will gang up and help them.   There is a good chance you will do The 23.1 Open WOD several times.  I will be with the Founder of CrossFit eating taco’s.  I doubt he even knows there is an Open, whatever that is.  The CrossFit LLC Big Shot Adrian Bozman was the Master of Ceremonies at the Open Reveal today in Madrid, Spain.  He was wearing a Street Parking hat.  IYKYK.

Drabble: The Coven Heads' Apology

"Please apologize to my beloved big brother Hunter! You have been very mean to him!" A certain small starboy with otherwordly fluffy lavender hair and a heart of gold convinced the Coven Heads to apologize to a certain young Grimwalker.

Adrian, Terra, Hettie, Mason, Vitimir and Osran cared deeply about Colli and decided to do him the favor. "I'm sorry, Hunter!" Mason was the first one to speak up. "I have to say sorry too, boy. For Colli's sake." Adrian chimed in as he glanced at the kindhearted eternal little boy.

"We all should have treated you with more respect. My sincere apologize." Osran said. "I'm sorry too, former Golden Guard. I shouldn't have threatened you with poisonous potions." Vitimir looked visibly ashamed of himself.

"Wait, what?!" Colli couldn't believe his ears! Hunter never told him about the potion incident. "My beautiful little Moonflower wants me to apologize to you. So, I do. I'm sorry." Terra was the next one to apologize to the blonde boy.

Last, but not least... "Now it's my turn to make amends with you. I am sorry too. For everything." Hettie said. "You know what? Forgive and forget!" Hunter spoke up. The former Golden Guard didn't hold a grudge against the Coven Heads.

Colli sighed in relief about the fact that everything turned out to be alright. The immortal celestial boy had a gentle expression on his adorable multi-colored face. Hunter and the Coven Heads were quietly cooing about his sheer cuteness.
