Raincode Alternate Timeline idea: Mrs.Furio lives timeline

In this timeline Mrs.Furio (Yakou's wife) would somehow manage to avoid her murder attempt until just before the blank week mystery where, knowing that Dr.Huesca is trying to kill her; she would go to the fake blood test in some type of disguise and with an alias having already put in her two weeks notice. She would get her blood drawn which would then be used to produce her homunculus on accident or purposefully but made to seem like an accident depending on whether or not she had made friends with any of the lady peacekeepers or any of her fellow lady scientists who would have enough access to sneak it into production while Dr.Huesca was distracted with planning Mrs.Furio's murder. Dr.Huesca would be successful in his next murder attempt while she was getting her belongings from her desk which would be right before the Homunculi escape. After the blank week mystery Mrs.Furio wakes up at the submarine along with Yakou finding everything just a tad bit messier than usual and not remembering anything from the week before like her husband and the rest of Kanai Ward's residents. Makoto having found a way to manipulate Dr.Huesca into leaving Mrs.Furio alone, respects her two week's notice. Over the next three years with Yakou's love, support and negotiation skills Mrs.Furio also becomes a detective of the WDO who also lacks a forte and works exclusively at the NDA. During the time that Vivia, Halara, Desuhiko, Fubuki and Yuma are around everything goes mostly the same way but with Mrs.Furio helping Yakou keep an eye on their "work-kids" as the "work-mom" and naturally getting dragged into their shenanigans until chapter four.

At which point Yomi having gotten sick of Dr.Huesca's crap has hired Fink the slaughter artist after finding a convenient note mentioning where to find him, and Makoto having figured out Yomi's plan has brought Yuma along to "solve" the "mystery" and take the advantage to get Yomi arrested. However the plan goes astray due to Mrs.Furio getting a bad feeling about where Yuma is running off too which lead's to Yakou and her rounding up the rest of the detectives and going to go find him. At which point Kurumi tells them that Yuma was going with Makoto to the Amaterasu HQ and that according to the peacekeeper's Fink the slaughter artist was going after Dr.Huesca. All of them knowing how Yuma is decide to go and get him or at least go help him before he gets in over his head and ask Kurumi to keep an eye on the submarine. Once there Desuhiko gets all of them into their disguises and split up into pair's to go find Yuma; Desuhiko with Yakou, Vivia with Halara and Fubuki with Mrs.Furio. At some point before Desuhiko, Yuma, Fubuki and Mrs.Furio meet up to and go to check on the doctor but after the chief splits up with Desuhiko and Yuma to create a distraction for them, Yakou circles back around after distracting the peacekeepers and happens to overhear that Dr.Huesca left his intercom's microphone on and happens to overhear Dr.Huesca's plan to escape by pretending that Fink had somehow snuck in and that he was under attack to lure Yuma and the other detectives in, kill them with the toxic gas, frame Fink as their killer and using the sulfuric acid to make one of them a body-double. And Yakou being Yakou decides that he CANNOT allow that to happen, and makes the impulsive decision that he needs to get to Dr.Huesca before Dr.Huesca can get to the people he cares about even if that means drawing the ire of both Yomi and Fink. Skipping forward to just past Dr.Huesca's murder at Yakou's hands using a knife that looks suspiciously similar to the one Fink uses in a storage closet near the doctor's lab (placed there incase yomi needed to go with plan B) to around the time Yakou gets stabbed, Instead of blocking out his face on the picture of him and Mrs.Furio he uses his blood to leave one last message "saved you-". At which point most of the rest of chapter four continues as usual. But it is revealed in what phantom-Yakou says that he was trying to protect them all. However i feel like the change in storyline would also change phantom-Yakou's design, like a large tower-shield instead of a whip, shove-attacks that are easily dodged and do minimal damage at best, his design warped and shifted as to hide who he is entirely as though ashamed, never looking directly at Yuma or Vivia as if he cannot bear to look them in the eye after what he did.

Then skipping to chapter five Makoto places a body-double of Mrs.Furio along with the body-doubles of the other NDA detectives but her note's mention the pill she was working on before she quit and a "hidden" message as to where to find it and the respective research papers on it but otherwise it goes as normal.

Then during Yakou's dlc only the ending changes with Mrs.Furio revealing that she had snuck into the restricted area to get Yakou and give him the pill that Yuma retrieved for her with Makoto's help.

Horrible AU idea for rain code.

AU where Shinigami possesses Yuma’s body either before or during RainCode.

(The cut below will be going into spoilers for the game, especially with a few certain chapters)

The two main thing that gave me the idea for this AU was Shinigami’s explanation during Chapter 4 where she says that if Yuma dies while in Amaterasu’s Underground Lab, she would possess his body and go back to the Detective Agency for him. The other reason was of that one YouTube video of a what if situation where Shinigami and the other detectives + Kurumi could interact with each other outside the Mystery Labyrinth.

This (possible) throwaway line and video were the catalyst for this AU, and I had a couple scenarios for this idea that I need to get out of my system.

For the bits where Shinigami isn’t possessing Yuma, I will just refer to them by their names, but when referring to Shinigami possessing Yuma, I would refer to them as Shiniyuma to explain easier.

Scenario 1: Shinigami possesses Yuma either before the game begins or during Chapter 0

In this, Yuma gets the Book of Death either earlier than before, or Chapter 0 plays out like in the game, but Yuma dies along with the other Master Detectives.

For the first bit of this scenario, Shiniyuma throws everyone off and is almost immediately suspected of being the imposter. Chapter 0 happens and now Yakou and the other detectives have to deal with a tiny possessed boy that is being mean to everyone and keeps going on about murder cases and “boom-kill”ing people.

For the second bit of this scenario, Yuma dies during the massacre and Shinigami possesses him to get back at the hitman. I’ll just say that Yuma’s cause of death was fire like everyone else. So now, not only will it be similar to the first bit, it’s also the fact that Shiniyuma is a tiny possessed boy who is also burnt that is being mean to everyone.

Scenario 2: Shinigami possesses Yuma during the game (mainly Chapter 4)

Basically, Shinigami possesses Yuma during Chapter 4 especially at the part where Yakou is dying, so now, not only is everyone dealing with a dying Yakou while being trapped in the Underground Lab with Yomi and the Peacekeepers trying to find them for Huesca’s murder after the whole Fink thing, they also have to deal with a dead Yuma who suddenly comes back to life and is behaving completely different to the Yuma they were used to, especially since most of them (Halara, Desuhiko and Fubuki) have a feeling that they know of someone with this same attitude as Shiniyuma. Vivia probably figured out what happened almost instantly since he already knows.

I FINISHED CH4 RAINCODE

I cant believe it. Seth is probably dead. Yakous dead. Furroughs is DEAD. (Also apparently Yakou had a wife who died four years ago but its FINE I can work with this)

So I don't know where to start?? For one I was SCARED of Vivia, I did NOT trust this man. AND FOR GOOD REASON APPARENTLY SINCE HE THREATENED TO KILL US. And the way we actually had to fight him in the mystery labyrinth? OUGH UNEXPECTED

When I first started the labyrinth I WAS unsettled by the idea of him remembering the mystery labyrinth after the fact, seeing as his memory seemed unaffected and I didn't trust him with knowledge about this place and Shinigamis power, but by the end it kind of worked out between the two of them so that's nice :)

I did kind of think that the culprit was Yakou, mostly because of Vivias 'Can you face the truth?' talk, but I discarded that theory cuz yk the man got killed by Fink, BUT THEN AS WE WERE NEARING THE PART WHERE ITS REVEALED I WAS LIKE "NO FUCKIING WAY. NO WAY IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED. OH MY GOD IT HAPPENED."

Also the way Shinigami didn't violently reap his soul as with the rest, but gently embraced him? GUH DONT DO THAT TO MY HEART

urghghfhj and the last part of the mystery labyrinth where we get Yomi being revealed as anonymous and that he manipulated Yakou? I HATED HIM SO MUCH. I rarely hate or get mad at characters, when I do its more because of writing rather than them themselves and what they do/say, BUT SOMEHOW THIS MOTHERFUCKER BREACHED THOSE BOUNDARIES AND MADE ME FEEL ACTUAL ANGER AT HIM

(Also sidenote I DID predict that Yomi was anonymous, so wooo)

Also why do chapters always end with such a bang, QUITE LITERALLY IN THIS CASE. I didn't expect a terrorist attack on WDO, and while I was suspicious of Makotos "gift" I basically forgot about it so when that came back I was like WOAH

Btw some notes on like the scene in the detective agency, one it hit different walking around talking to the characters inbetween continuing story without Yakou there, sobs. second, i tried walking out of the room before talking to Halara about their info, and the dialogue says "I should see what SHE has to say" AND I HAD TO DO A DOUBLETAKE. I might do a separate post talking more in depth about this because its giving queerbaity and I don't like how this just gives ammunition to people who believe Halara isnt enby despite EVERY OTHER MOMENT coding them as such. It's so weird, I can only assume it's a typo especially in such a small optional piece of dialogue but its still disheartening since lgbt rep is so hard to come by
