it's so boring how people only ever talk about makoto being 3 years old when all of kanai ward is also only 3 years old AND they're younger than makoto by at least a week. yakou? 3 years old. huesca? 3 years old. margulaw? that's a fucking THREE YEAR OLD, BAYBEEEEE!!!! imagine the untapped comedy potential of this information. it would piss yomi off SO much to know that he's technically younger than makoto. and makoto would 100% hold this over him like an older sibling that was born like minutes before the other one. yomi would be seething in his jail cell about this. i need people to see my vision here. imagine yakou reviving through his wife's Pill Ex Machina and coming back to be the NDA chief but desuhiko's like "ermmm well you're the youngest so maybe i should be chief" (*live studio audience laugh track*) and then yakou barely refrains from mauling him on account of lowkey missing the taste of human flesh

my niche little zilch (the real one not the hitman) headcanon is that he isn't a vegan and in fact even encourages using animal products. he'd ramble about things like eating honey (because beekeepers do excellent work and bees are the only example of unionized domestication) and using wool, leather and fur (because they result in high quality products that last a long time and are infinitely better for the environment than clothes made of microplastics) and i know him owning a fur coat is a good hint at the hitman's betrayal because "whyyy would an environmentalist own a fur coat" but hear me out: it is the original zilch's coat that he's had for years made from an animal he'd befriended but it long passed and it's a memento. idk i just like the idea of him believing firmly in the harmony of humans and nature and how humans are a part of nature as well and animals eat each other and use each other all the time and that isn't a bad thing in his eyes. as long as it's done with respect for the life that is lost. what does bother him is mistreatment of livestock tho he'll get pissed about that. i think that sort of outlook is how he developed his forte bc of having a deep understanding of how animals are. does anyone see my vision

Here have a silly little headcannon that I have and personally love: Yakou Furio is the most comfortable person to lay on in the Nocturnal Detective Agency. He is the best pillow and both Yuma and Vivia sometimes together, sometimes separate, have fallen asleep on Yakou the most. Desuhiko and Fubuki have also fallen asleep on him but, less so. Halara hasn't fallen asleep on Yakou But, They do lean on him every now and then cause again he is super comfy plus when you're exhausted from using your Forte it's nice to have someone sturdy yet comfortable by your side. Yakou is very amused and even sorta flattered by all this and he rarely protests against if ever whenever the other Detectives rest against him. Yakou also will sometimes joke around and say that he can't move because he's trapped as he motions to whoever is using him as a pillow.

Yuma and Yakou both have Depression and Axiety however Yuma has fewer coping mechanisms than Yakou does due to his amnesia so Yakou takes it upon himself to teach his rookie detective some actually helpful techniques to deal with both. Yakou also gave Yuma an old journal he never used to write down his feelings or whatever else he would need it for. Yuma still has it to this day and uses it as often as he can.

but in all seriousness that is a genuine problem. in my opinion rain code is a game best experienced when you actually play it. obviously not everyone can pay 60 dollars for a switch game, and the non-switch release is over a year later, not everyone wants to wait that long. but the fact that so many people watch base-level playthroughs or just gain all their knowledge from shitposts or fandom is.. troubling? i get not being able to play the game, but you don’t NEED to be in the fandom. if you can’t play a game, find something else to focus your energy on rather than a game you literally have not properly consumed. true visual novels I think are fine to just watch or read, but a walking simulator like rain code really requires playing to fully understand. for instance, if you don’t play the side quests, and check in on each NPC every chapter, and check every profile, and walk around the city and truly appreciate its depth.. you aren’t going to understand makoto kagutsuchi. you need to understand kanai ward in order to sympathize with his love of it you could understand “oh he loves the city” from a surface level but you wouldn’t be able to truly feel for him and experience the game as intended unless you’ve actually experienced the city and what makes it lovable. that’s all just one example but I can give more. if anyone has the time to play raincode, but not the money, I can provide some 🏴‍☠️, because I really think not actually playing the game is highly detrimental to the experience and treating it like a linear wall of text to read basically just .. ruins rain code

this isn't even a common headcanon, it's just one that ive seen more times out in the wild than i should have, but i am so genuinely baffled at the people who say yuma and shinigami have a sibling dynamic (or even worse, a mother/son dynamic). did you play the game? did you read the text on your screen? this is not a found nuclear family situation!! she wants to fuck him, bro!!!! she isn't even subtle about it!!!!!
