Rainbow Milk by Paul Mendez.

This follows 19yr old Jessie as he escapes his Jehovah’s Witness upbringing and moves to the city where he turns to sex work and struggles with his race and sexuality.

Content Warnings: racism, homophobia, sexual assault and content, medical content (specifically HIV/AIDS), child abuse, religious bigotry

What Did I Think?

I thought the writing was really dense and I found it really challenging to read not just because of that but also because of the subject matter. I also thought the pacing was off. However, I think it was a really powerful read, and it had a great impact on me. Stories like this one are so important to be told and heard.

✨Rainbow Milk✨ . Beli fresh milk yang dus besar. Ternyata rasanya pahit. Kaya kebanyakan perisa strawberry gitu. Terpaksa ga diminum dan dijadikan bahan belajar buat Hami aja 😅 . Tapi ga usah ngikutin juga ya haha Secukupnya susu aja. Bahkan kita juga pernah bikin cuma pake setengah susu kotak kecil aja lho 😄 . 🖤Bahan yang dibutuhkan ✨Nampan / piring yang ceper ✨Susu cair plain secukupnya (yang aku pake susu strawberry) ✨Cotton bud ✨Aneka pewarna ✨Sabun cuci cair . 🖤Cara bermain dan manfaatnya Aku tuang susu ke dalam nampan, tetesi dengan pewarna makanan (ungu, kuning, hijau, merah, biru, coklat). Celup cotton bud pada sabun cuci cair lanjut celup lagi ke piring susu. Dan liat reaksinya. Beneran kereeen 😍 Permainan ini untuk menstimulasi indera visual anak ya.
