Conceptualizing Tomo as the Raiden Shogun during the Archon War [Raiden Shogun Tomo AU]
Tumblr media
From my non-romance fanfic about Raiden Shogun-Tomo and his pet bunny Kazuha here, these are my character-building notes that didn't really get to see the light of day.
Archon War candidate of Narukami — and eventual victor
During the Archon Wars, Tomo of Narukami island proved himself not only as a candidate for his country's shogunate government, but also as a candidate for one of the seven Archon seats.
As Archon War-era Inazuman archipelago is not unified, other candidates for the Archon seat also heralding from the Inazuman archipelago include Orobaxi of Watatsumi island and Kapatcir of Tsurumi-Seirai isles.
Tomo of Narukami is proactive about consolidating his power and rule, for the sake of uniting the separate island-states into one single country — the future Inazuma. To advance his interests, he allied together with the strongest candidate of the Guili region, Rex Lapis.
Eventually, victory is awarded to these two formidable friends.
Thousand Faces, Hundred Eyes, Ten Hearts, One Truth
This is Shogun-Tomo's epithet.
The numbers were selected for to be symmetrical, balanced, referencing the numerology & symbology of 1, for power, independence and leadership, as well as to represent a divine entity who considers themselves a supreme being. A little bit arrogant, but also totally justified at his power level.
1000 Faces: Shogun-Tomo is said to own a thousand porcelain mask in his personal collection, and that he will grant wishes to a thousand lucky individuals in a year. Will you be one of those thousand?
It's quite true that he owns a thousand porcelain masks or somewhere thereabout - there's too many for him to actually count. He prefers not to repeat masks (except for his favorite ones), and he also sometimes likes to leave his masks in places that he's visited (which turn into electroculus over time), which means there's always a reason to make new, inspired masks.
Besides making these masks as an expression of creativity, the masks also enable him to roam his nation in incognito mode with his second-truest face - the face of a young man, ronin-like, mid-length straw hair, lilac-grey eyes, that accompanies the mortal body he dons.
His true face is the one that he was born with, which is the face of a kitsune spirit.
100 Eyes: Shogun-Tomo is said to have a hundred eyes to watch over all notable areas and persons of interests on Narukami island.
In battle, the Raiden Shogun's form is often accompanied by glowing purple ball lightning, either concentrated on his back or homing in on his enemies on the field.
Outside of battle, the Raiden Shogun employs the use of kemono yokai - various mythical animals - to be his eyes and ears throughout Narukami island. He's been known to inhabit crows, cows, beavers, cats, dogs and foxes.
Writer's note: This is inspired by the recurring "eye" motifs in Genshin — the electroculus, the Omnipresent Statue, and Raiden Shogun's E skill, which results in a hovering eye acting on behalf of the active character to deal damage, said to be a "piece of her euthymia".
10 Hearts: Shogun-Tomo is said to have ten hearts for his ten great loves: Narukami, Inazumans, art, song, dance, wine, battle, blade, fox, rabbit.
Or perhaps this number refers to ten beloved acquaintances, friends through blood and song, ranging from the divine to the yokai.
Or perhaps this number refers to ten lovers, beautiful of body, of mind, and of character.
Or perhaps this number had simply been made up by the folklore storytellers, so as to believe that their god had within him the capacity to love them ordinary mortals.
1 Truth: Shogun-Tomo is said to have a single truth: the hitotachi, a bladework that will bare open the heart.
Widely regarded as Shogun-Tomo's signature, the hitotachi simultaneously strikes awe and fear in the hearts of those who see it.
Despite the reputation of the hitotachi, - or perhaps because it is simply that powerful, Shogun-Tomo doesn't seem too keen on using it often. He is a brilliant warrior, and can just as easily emerge victorious without having to unsheathe the hitotachi.
In fact, the truth is much more humbling. Shogun-Tomo is dissatisfied with his hitotachi. The only person he's consulted this issue with is Rex Lapis. A martial god, political ally and sparring partner, Rex Lapis has suggested that the hitotachi in its present state lacks foundation, as its wielder's ambition is as ordinary as that of mortal rulers. This could very well be a fatal flaw for an Archon candidate - how can one presume to be a part of the ruling divinity if their ambition doesn't dare to shake the heavens?
Shogun-Tomo gives much thought to this, and believes that he should one day obtain the answer after he has travelled and witnessed as many things of Teyvat as possible. Indeed, the hitotachi is shaping up to be more than just a singular slash - but rather a whole set of motions that define a very distinctive bladework style, as Shogun-Tomo will eventually come to wield it.
Philosopher of the Narukami nation
Shogun-Tomo believes in Elegance: The beauty of nature's elements is inimitable. Shogun-Tomo is naturally confident, and has an unwavering belief in his ideals and his ways. He does not need to take the path of others before him; for he is on his way of attaining a level that they have not. Though they compete against each other, the other Archon candidates may become friends and allies. Though he is a great warrior, sometimes the killing blow is not a slash, but rather a parry.
Shogun-Tomo believes in Transience: Lightning cannot be caught. The beauty of living things is often most apparent during the period of precious time known as "youth". As their ruler, he feels melancholy on their behalf, that they should experience a state of such goodness only to ultimately lose it for ever. This is why Shogun-Tomo prefers to conceal his face when dealing with these other living things — he would rather not remind them that for him, in fact, youth can be eternal.
Shogun-Tomo believes in Light: The greatest light of all is hope. Even as a godling, Shogun-Tomo has never once doubted the truth behind this axiom. As a man relentless pursuing after his many goals, dreams and ambitions, light is something that he effortlessly summons from the ether; that he brings forth by his own merit and abilities; that he makes happen by his resolve and willpower. He believes that by pursuing enough singular instances of light at a rate quick enough, he can construct a eternal and undying light forever.
Personality traits and interests headcanons
- Animal lover [canon]
- Curious & adventurous, like Kazuha [canon]
- Creative and inspired, appreciative of the beauty of the world = his philosophy
- Passionate about martial arts and the art of the battle, such as musou no hitotachi [canon]
- Great sense of humor, thunderous roaring laughter
- Generally quite tolerant and generous with his energy and time
- Sharp judgement, decisive in execution, like lightning
- Respected by people for his physical power, and generally high intelligence in nation-ruling and governnance
- Loved by people for providing abundance through the lands
- Feared by his people, for they know not his face, and they see the war rampage that he causes against the other Archon seat contestants
- Highly selective with his inner circle
- Strives to keep a work-life balance between play and divine duties
An affinity for animals, especially the kitsune
Shogun-Tomo's original form is that of a humble kitsune spirit. When he ascended to Archon, this entire species of animal was also elevated to sacred and protected status in the country.

Left Behind
Kaedehara Kazuha x reader
TW’s: mention of death, spoilers for the Inazuma Archon Quest
Word count: 520+
A/N: Kazuha’s friend is called Tomo, and I’m so sorry for this
Good luck to anyone wishing for Kazuha and Alhaitham!
Tumblr media
He saw the Traveler reappear from wherever they had been sent to by the Shogun, he saw the Shogun pose in what seemed to be defeat, he saw Gorou and his men congratulate the Traveler on their hard-earnes victory, yet his mind was on one thing.
You.
So he ran. He ran past Gorou and his men, past the Traveler and Paimon, down the stairs from Tenshukaku. He brushed past the shogunate, didn’t stop at the stares of Inazumans, and he didn’t care that he knocked down some poor bystander.
He needed to see you. He needed to right the wrongs he did when he left Inazuma and he needed to do it or else he felt like he was going to die.
He soon made it out of Inazuma City but he didn’t seem to notice. His mind plagued with memories.
How he first met you after you accidentally threw a ball in his house’s window when you two were children. How he finally asked you out after years of being “best friends”. How he kissed you for the first time after you two had play-fought near the ocean.
He also remembers when the decrees hit. The look of pure horror on your face when he told you he was leaving Inazuma. The way tears flowed down your cheeks like waterfalls as he turned and left. In fact, that was the last image that he had of you stored in his mind.
Kazuha panted heavily as he slowed to a stop as he crossed over a familiar stone bridge. He looked around for a sign, any sign that you were still here. He let out a shaky breath when he noticed your house, the familiar pot that you made stood right outside the front door.
He walked fast as he walked up the short stairs to your house’s door, taking a breath before knocking on the door. He waited for what seemed like eternity before he heard the door open. He looked up, he was going to see you. For the first time in forever he was going to see-
He blinked as he saw an unfamiliar female open the door with a confused look on her face. Her mahogany eyes met Kazuha’s face as she tilted her head in question.
“Do you need anything?”
Kazuha opened his mouth as his mind went blank. He quickly shook his head before answering, “Does a {name} live here?”
The girl thought for a second before shaking her head, “Do you mean {name} Hitaksaki? She died a few weeks ago, why?”
Kazuha felt hinself go pale, you had died? But how…was it from grief? Illness?
Kazuha spoke shakily, “H-How did she die?”
“I’m not sure, I don’t think anyone knows really. Some Shikanoin guy has been looking into it. You could ask him if you’d like.”
“Did she leave anything? Maybe a letter or a trinket?” He was desperate now, he needed to have something, anything left of you.
“I’m sorry.”
Kazuha nodded, muttering a “thanks” as his heart sunk for a second time that day. He felt tears dripping down his cheeks as he started back for Inazuma City. He wondered..
What would’ve happened if he hadn’t have left you behind?

big fan of inazuma's story cutscene style it is So Clearly just ukiyo-e imported into teyvat, and so pretty bc of that [visual analysis ramble ahead]
most of the cutscenes can just be split into either a) illustrations, usually for in-game fiction/stories or b) normal genshin story PV but with inazuman elements
a) illustrations: akitsu haneasobi (the story with the youkai and human warrior), the legend of the blue and red oni, the five kasen, and interestingly enough, snippets from ayaka and yae miko's character teasers
b) inazuman style story cutscenes: kazuha and tomo's vision hunt decree story, the raiden and makoto cutscene, and scaramouche's villain origin story
for the illustrations: flat, kind of washed out color, bold visible lineart, and a very 2D look (pics from 5 kasen, ayaka's teaser, and yae's teaser respectively)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
vs
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the genshin art is all in calx's painting style, but besides the difference in how people are drawn, you can see how different flat colors blend into each other naturally (like on the floor panels in venti's room versus the wall in the tea room painting) and how every single line is drawn distinctly in black ink
these all depict room settings but the non-room, landscape style ones also have really nice linework detail and idk it just looks so good, so painterly
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(notice the texture of the mountains (the stipples to show gradients and gradual value changes), the way trees and water are drawn, as well as the style of the sky/moon (ombre but flat colors, fairly desaturated)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
unrelated sidenote but they went so hard with akitsu haneasobi by making the cutscene feel like a bunch of animated manga panels, w the speech bubbles, little emote symbols, speed line effects, and frame paneling; that was fire
anyways the other, genshin-style cutscenes also have desaturated but contrasting colors, a ton of ombre, and flats. also usually some form of a neutral colored yellow/orange/tan background
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
no other thoughts I just think the art direction is neat and worth noting
(sort of a continuation of my fontaine story teaser art style analysis)

Kazuha looks down at the vision in his hand after getting it back from the treasure hunter, Paimon leans in to get a better look at it. Aether puts his sword away before noticing how quiet Kazuha is and looks at him.
Eyes lingering on the item before Paimon softly spoke, "that vision, what's the story behind it?" She asks.
"Did you know who it belonged to?"
Kazuha doesn't immediately answer, sighing, preparing to tell the tale.
"She was once a good..." He hesitates, trying to find the word to describe his relationship with the owner of the vision, "..friend..of mine."
"Never stop searching, even if only for a brief flash of light. If nothing else, we have the present moment." A hand brushes his hair softly, and a mirror was in front of his younger self, in the reflection in the mirror reflected himself and someone else, the owner of the gentle voice behind him,
"Do you understand, Kazuha?" She asks with a smile, one shown only to him.
"One day, an argument broke out, ending with us parting ways then the Vision Hunt Decree arrived, people's aspirations were stripped away as the Raiden Shogan began to construct her idea of eternity."
He sighs, eyes filled with sadness just thinking about it.
"Another one of my good friends, asked about the Musou No Hitotachi, which can only be witnessed when divine punishment is administered but he replied, 'there must be one who can withstand it. there will always be those who dare to brave the lightning's glow.'
At this point, I hadn't heard anything for her until one day, as I was fleeing from place to place, I heard that my friend had challenged the Vision Hunters to a duel before the throne."
Paimon places her hand on her heart, face painted in pity, "then.....what happened next." She sniffs and Kazuha gives her a sad smile.
"A solemn yet brutal challenge, the defeated faced divine punishment while the victors gained a second chance..... perhaps he thought he of all people should make a stand..."
He goes quiet again, Aether could tell that speaking of this must be hard for Kazuha, losing a friend is not something that can be easily handled.
"...I don't know what went through his mind, I can always go ask him but maybe he's still grieving."
From this information, Aether picked up that the one who challenged the Raiden Shogan is still alive so that meant—
"When I arrived at Tenshukaku the duel was over and in his place, there she was....given the divine punishment while he watched from the floor, horrified, he could barely make a sound." He remembers the face Tomo made that day, until he snapped out of it, screaming her name as he held the blonde back from running towards the scene.
Covering his face with his hand, he continues, his voice wavering, "in her final moments...what expression was on her face? Before I knew it, I caught the dying vision and we were both running from the scene. I knew she didn't want it to be buried beneath an ice, cold statue of a god."
Paimon sniffs, rubbing her eyes, wiping her face, "that's so sad. It must have been so hard for you and your friend."
Kazuha nods slightly, an empty smile plastered on his face, "yes, I've known her for years but we were closer than ever before that argument broke out, although I wish to change it, it simply cannot happen."
He sighs, looking up at the clouds, taking in the scenery, one she loved to look at the most.
"Losing her still aches...no matter how long it's been."
Attaching the vision underneath his own, he feels a sudden breeze, "now then, I think we should head back. Beidou must be waiting for us." The three go back the same way they came, opening up their gliders and flying through the wind currents in the air.
Kazuha was behind Aether who was carrying Paimon, he wasn't paying attention to what was in front of him as he began to remember his late father's words.
'You must keep it a secret, my son. The truth about Kosuke.'
'Kosuke? Was she the lady who was here a few days ago?'
'Yes, you must never reveal the truth she entrusted to the Kaedehara clan centuries ago, do you understand?'
'I understand, father.'
Finally landing on the beachy sand, they walk back to where the tournament was taking place, Aether letting Paimon go and they both go ahead, Kazuha landing last.
"I guess since that last guy was your opponent, who's the final one?" She asks, Aether shrugs his shoulders, "I dunno."
Kazuha replies, "oh, it's a friend of Beidou. I haven't personally met them so I'm not quite sure what kind of opponent they are."
The three walk back, Paimon and Aether bickering as Kazuha listens in, giving his own words here and there. It wasn't until Aether's face lit up that his eyes landed in the ring where the fights took place.
Kazuha sees this, looking over to where the blonde was looking, only to freeze in place. His eyes were wide as he let out a shaky breath, fingers trembling slightly.
He watches as the (h/c)-Indigo-haired woman turned around, arms crossed over her chest as her eyes land on Aether.
Giving him a small smile before she finally notices him standing behind Aether. The same stoic look on her face as she stares at him, the smile on her lips gone.
"...it's you."
He mutters, shock written all over his face.
'Miss Kosuke, you're really pretty.'
'...thank you, and please, call me (Y/n), we'll be seeing each other more often.'
"...(Y/n)?"

Oh hey, lookie it's what I have so far for my pre-canon Liyue and Inazuma plot points for my ATWIAWL AU!
PRE-CANON LIYUE
Before the Cataclysm, Morax and Barbatos were very close (despite the former’s denial of the fact), so when Barbatos went against the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles, it felt like a betrayal. After the Anemo Archon was “killed”, anything that reminded Morax of them filled him with irrational fury, making him wonder what could possess Barbatos to throw everything away for a single baby.
When a wind wisp first approached Morax, his first reaction was to yell at them and demand them to go away, and although the wisp relented and gave him space, Morax could always tell that the wisp was still around from all the little gifts that he would find.
After a century or so, however, the empty feeling in Morax’s chest had worn him down to the point that he could not deny the fact that he craved a reminder of Barbatos.
He decides to invite the wisp to a meal where the two would talk. Eventually, as the two shared more meals together, Morax opened up to the sprite the same way he had to Barbatos, eventually naming the sprite Zhen (sometimes affectionately nicknamed Xiao Zhen)
While in their human identities, the two often spent time learning about the people of Liyue together. Zhen was the one to suggest to Zhongli that instead of faking his death out of nowhere, he should first slowly distance himself from his godly duties, slowly increasing the time between one descent from the next to see how the people of Liyue respond to their growing independence. He also advises Morax to open a savings account to ensure that he will not be broke when he surrenders his gnosis.
In the eyes of the people of Liyue, Zhen is a wisp who grew emotionally attached to Zhongli and decided to live amongst humans to be with him. Wind Wisps are not as revered in Liyue as they are in Mondstadt, but it is still considered to be a blessing when one decides it wants to live amongst humans with a chosen mortal. Though many of their acquaintances often joke about how Zhen is like Zhongli’s more financially responsible little brother or son.
(I'm not super familiar with Zhongli lore, so I would love some help on how to make his lore in this AU better)
PRE-CANON INAZUMA
After losing Barbatos on top of her sister and friends, Ei falls into a more severe depression. Just like Morax, Ei’s reaction to a wind wisp approaching her was bad, probably even worse since in her grief, she had come to assume that the wisp was the ghost of Barbatos coming to haunt her.
Despite the wisp’s efforts to be a stable support for her, their relationship remained strained, eventually reaching a boiling point when Ei decided to discard her prototype puppet and confessed to her plans of making an emotionless doll to rule while she meditated in her Plane of Euthymia.
The two had a furious argument about the decision, Ei claiming that it was for the best she set him free and that Inazuma would be fine while the wisp argued that such a decision was not only irresponsible and disaster-bound, but cruel as well. The argument eventually reached the point where Ei told the wisp that if they were so against the idea of the puppet being alone, that maybe they should just go with him. Angrily, the wisp agrees, telling her that unless she cleans up her act, this will be the last time they see each other.
The puppet and wisp remain in Shakkei Pavillion until they are found by Katsuragi and taken in by the people of Tatarasuna who name the puppet Kabukimono and the wisp Kaze no Seirei. The two live a fairly happy life there until one of Dottore’s segments disguised as Escher comes to Tatarasuna to cause trouble.
The thing about the wind, however, is that no information whispered in the wind is safe from their ears. Paired up with Nagamasa and Niwa’s suspicion of him and Kabukimono’s general uneasiness around him (Why does it feel like Escher is always staring at him and standing a little too close?) Dottore’s charade is uncovered fairly quickly.
Kaze no Seirei and (maybe) Niwa confront Dottore, first trying a peaceful approach, but when it’s clear that Dottore will not leave before completing his goal, a fight between Kaze and Dottore breaks out, draining Kaze of most of his energy and injuring Niwa, in a moment of intense emotions, Kabukimono is able to unseal a portion of his powers and defeat the segment.
Before killing the segment, however, Kabukimono orders Dottore to never mess with Tatarasuna or Inazuma again, lest Kaze inform the Tsaritsa’s wisp to spill his actions against Kaze, which would in turn, get Dottore Prime in a lot of trouble since the Tsaritsa likes the wisps.
Dottore, deciding it was not worth the trouble of losing his funding and connections agrees to the terms before the segment is incinerated in a bolt of lightning.
Centuries pass and Tatarasuna remains prosperous with the Kabukimono and Kaze no Seirei as the de facto leaders of Tatarasuna, and when the Vision Hunt Decree happens, Tatarasuna comes to be considered as a neutral faction that is neither on the side of the Shogun or the Resistance.
During the decree, Tatarasuna would house many vision users and runaways who wanted to escape the Shogun’s rule, but despite the Shogunate Army’s best efforts, they couldn’t seize Tatarasuna with Kabukimono and Kaze leading the charge.
I imagined that Kabukimono still gets an anemo vision (technically making him a dual electro-anemo user because of his birth powers that were slowly unsealed more and more throughout the years) that was given to him when he decided that no matter what happens, he refuses to surrender Tatarasuna and its people to the Raiden Shogun.
Because Dottore was no longer messing around in Inazuma, I imagine that the Raiden Gokaden is still around and so is Kazuha’s family, but Kazuha at this time still does not have a vision, that is until Tomo goes to Tenshukaku to challenge the Shogun.
Before he leaves to chase after Tomo, Kabukimono gives him a seal that repels Electro just in case.
I haven’t decided if Tomo gets to live or not, but either way, when Kazuha gets there, he either manages to save Tomo, or just Tomo’s vision thanks to the seal given to him by Kabukimono.
Unable to flee back to Tatarasuna due to the distance between Tenshukaku and his hometown, Kazuha (and maybe Tomo if he is still alive) flees to Ritou and stowaways on Beidou’s ship. I imagine Kazuha probably gets his vision sometime after that.

KAEDEHARA KAZUHA ¤ Scarlet leaves pursue wild waves
It was around the time the Raiden Shogun declared the vision hunting decree, and right after Kazuha's dear friend Tomo passed trying to withsand the musou no hitotachi.
You were away for training with your teacher. And as you walked home you heard of the commotion on the streets
"That guy died from the Shogun's strike" "what was he thinking?! He is obviously no match for the Shogun"
Hearing all of the whispers made you a little worried. And something told you that it was terrible news. What if that was someone you knew personally?
Assuring yourself that it's probably just some stupid samurai off the streets is what you did. Trying to block out all the whisperd and worries of the city folk.
Until you heard his name from a group of people talking about what just happened. "...Kaedehara...."
Your boyfriend who you haven't seen since this morning. You stopped on your tracks and turned around hoping you heard that wrong.
"What did you say?"
"Pardon?" The person asked.
"The name." You repeated "the name you mentioned before, what was it again?"
"Kaedehara. Kaedehara Kazuha?" The person said confused by your expression growing more and more distraught by the second
"What happened to him? Did he..." you couldnt even get yourself to finish that sentence. You didnt want to believe that HE was the one who challenged the Raiden Shogun
"No dont worry (miss/sir) it's not him who died. Its another guy, but Kaedehara was seen on the scene taking the dead vision and running off. From what I've heard he's running away right now"
Without wasting another second you booked it to the nearest port. You had no idea if he was going to be there as he escaped but it's worth the shot anyways.
Panting and gasping through the bamboo forest while thinking about the fate of your boyfriend isn't the best combination.
"What if he got caught?" "What if he already left?" "What if that stranger was mistaken?" The what if questions were not helping you at all.
So all you did was to hope. Hope that he is still alive, hope that he is still in Inazuma
Your legs were killing you and your lungs feel like they're about to explode if you don't stop running. But you can't
You need to see Kazuha.
As if the Archon's heard your prayers, all of a sudden you hear a guard shouting in a distance "Kaedehara Kazuha you're under arrest under the vision hunting decree!"
"It's him! He's still here!" Relieved he hasn't made it out of Inazuma yet, you started running even faster to the scene.
When you got there you saw Kazuha fighting a bunch of the Shogun's guards left and right. "Kazuha!" You shouted out in relief, as you drew out your katana (sword) and began helping him fight.
You bear no vision, but the adrenaline was pumping into your veins you didnt give a second thought and dove into the fight.
"(Name)??" Kazuha turned around to look at you for a split second. Honestly if it werent for the current condition youre both in, he'd hug you real tight
"How did you find me?" He asked before turning his head around and defend himself from the guards.
"I heard from the city folks hat you ran away after a man died from the musou no hitotachi" you responded, blocking a strike from another guard.
He made a mental note to explain to you the story after the fight is over.
Speaking of which, the fight lasted for quite sometime until all of the shogun's minions were down.
You turned around and hugged Kazuha, throwing your weapon onto the ground.
"I'm so glad youre safe Kaz" you burried your bead into his shoulder, still panting from all that fighting, adrenaline and running.
Kazuha was panting as well, hugging you tighter like never before and kissed your forehead softly "Me too (name), I'm so sorry I didn't come to you sooner and told you anything. Everything happened so fast, I had to leave before I got caught."
You pulled away from the hug and smiled at him softly, your breathing becoming more stable after a while "That's alright, I found you just in time-"
Something was moving behind Kazuha and you couldn't make it what it was until you could.
It was the Shogun's guard again, with a bow and arrow... aimed at Kazuha's back. Your heart dropped
before the guard should release the arrow you pushed Kazuha away and took the hit.
The arrow ended up piercing your shoulder which earned a shout from you. It hurted like hell and blood started flowing out of your shoulder by the minute.
At first you felt dizzy from the blood loss and then everything went dark. You were going in and out, Before you blacked out completely, the first time you saw Kazuha charging up to the guard and fought him. The next time you saw him picking you up bridal style
And the last thing you heard was " (name) Don't you dare leave me!"
The first thing you saw when you woke up was a wooden ceiling above you. "Where am I?" You sat up and hissed from the pain on your shoulder. You took a look at thr soirce of the pain and to your surprise, the wounded area had been wrapped with a compression bandage.
Looking around at the area you realised you ended up on a ship. But how?
Before you could ask more questions, the door in front of you opened, and standing there was Kazuha. The man saw that you were awake and sped walk towards you.
"You're awake! Thank goodness. Don't worry everythings alright. We're on a ship of a pirate captain from Liyue and she got her crew to help stop the bleeding on your shoulder."
Ah, he basically just answered the questions that were popping up in your head. "Looks like we'll have to thank this pirate captain for her hospitality"
You looked at the current condition of your lover. His shoulders were tense and his lips forced into a small smile.
You could tell it was so that you wouldn't be alarmed. And you could tell he was still shaken up by the stunt you pulled earlier.
"I'm sorry my love, for scaring you like that." Placing your hand on his shoulder, then slowly making your way up to his cheek. "I'm safe, youre safe. That's all that matters."
You could see his eyes softening and his shoulders becoming less tense
"Youre right... youre right. You just got me worried back there. I was afraid I might lose you too." He whispered softly, cupping his hand over your hand.
Subconciously he gripped your hand hard enough to make you notice but not hard enough to hurt you.
He didn't have to elaborate any further for you to realise that his dear friend was the one who died.
"I won't leave you here alone dear. That's a promise." pulling him into a hug, which he reciprocated quickly
"What now?" Is a question you both will figure out later.
Right now, the only thing that matters is the two of you.

SCARAMOUCHE/ KUNIKUZUSHI ¤ The Balladeer
Being the Balladeer's assistant was no easy job
Literally.
Having to deal with his yelling, degration, mocks, (tantrums) and bad temper required patience. Lots of it
But no matter how many times he left you out in the snow to freeze, or mocked you in front of everyone, you stayed by him. Honestly no one understood how and why (and neither did Scara but he would never question it)
Partially because the pay is good (the harbingers decided to pay you extra because youre dealing with Scaramouche), partially because you don't get treated as half as bad as his subordinates and because sometimes he isn't so bad in general.
What I mean by "not so bad" is that sometimes, barely, but once in a blue moon. He shows that he cares and appreciates your help and loyalty.
When he was sent out on a mission to Inazuma, you couldn't come to help him due to unfortunate circumstances. He was pissed to say the least
surprisingly not at you but at the higher ups for not allowing you, his assistant to come
he brought you a souvenier from Inazuma. Nothing much and nothing grand, but it is something from your boss so you treasure it.
Another time you got sick with the flu, at first he was pissed (when is he not 💀🖕) but then at night, he came over to give you some soup
By the Balladeer's words it is to "Make you get better soon so you can work again. I can't manage all this shit by myself"
Which you translated it to "I miss your company and I need your help with my tasks"
Either way you appreciated his kindness.
Scaramouche and you were sent out on a mission together to the chasm. Usually they wouldn't send the harbingers down there, but an important relic from an unknown lost civilization was found, and the fatui wants to study it.
As the 2 of you were down there, all you (other than trying to find the relic) did was listen to his occasional rants and curses to the other harbingers for sending him on this mission.
"Annoyed as always" you rolled your eyes.
When the relic was found and secured safely, the two of you nodded at each other as a sign that you both should head out as soon as possible
Luckily Scaramouche and you didn't run into any enemies which was....
"Strange" you mumbled to yourself, brows furrowed and eyeing the caves
"What is?" taking a glance behind to look at you as he was right in front of you
"It's just that we haven't bumped into any monsters or enemies during our time here." You started
"There's always enemies down here at the chasm"
Scaramouche shrugged at you "Maybe theyre taking a nice long nap, or maybe they know their place and not to mess with us." He was half sarcastic and half serious. Either way, he wasn't bothered by this at all
You nodded at him. Not necessarily because you agree with him
But mainly because you're quite unsettled about the whole situation to the point where you'd just hope he was right
Something must be wrong with the universe because not long after, a mob of hillichurls showed up
Scaramouche groaned, getting ready to fight "Great you jinxed it."
They were just a bunch of hillichurls so it really didn't take long for Scara to handle it while you guard the relic
"Let's just get out of here before I have to deal with those i-" before your boss could finish his sentence an abyss herald showed up
When it showed up, you drew out your weapon getting ready to fight. He was no easy foe and even if you knew Scara could handle it...
Something was telling you thing's were about to go south.
You and him started fighting the Abyss enemy
Scara with his electro powers and you with your (vision of choice)
"Hey (name) fuck off I can handle this myself you know?!" He shouted at you
"No you can't Scaramouche!" You retaliated, not listening to another word he says because you were getting more and more pissed by his antics "Just shut up and let me help!"
With the way you disobeyed his orders AND talk back at him got him taken aback and angry at you
"Why this little bitch!" He wanted to say
Scara just gave the abyss herald an opening to launch an attack at him
"Scara watch out!" Luckily you saw right on time and threw yourself in front of Scara to protect him
The attack was so bad you started coughing out blood from the impact. Everything started to become blurry and you lost your balance and strength, dropping your weapon in the process
Before you blacked out you heard Scara scream out something you couldn't quite make out and then... total darkness.
"Don't you dare leave me here!" Echoed in your mind before you awoke in a bed in a strange place. This wasn't Snezhnaya and you know it.
"Where am I? And who said that sentence when I was asleep?" You asked yourself, slowly sitting up from the bed with a groan.
The door on your right opened and in came your boss
"Scara..!" You managed to say. Your voice came out soft and sort of like a wheeze. The impact of the attack seemed to affect your ability to talk as well
"Shh. Don't talk. The doctor said your vocal cord needs rest." Making his way to your bed, and sat by the edge
You closed your mouth but it was clear you had many questions. Scara frowed a little but started answering the questions he knows you'll anyways
"We're still in Liyue. I managed to carry you out of the chasm and the relic I handed off to some fatui members I saw on the way to the doctor.... and you've been out for 3 days now. I was..." he paused and looked away
"Starting to get worried." You didn't have to see his face to know that his expression softened.
Now it all makes sense, you now know what Scara said before you blacked out.
"Don't you dare leave me here!" It was also the sentence that echoed in your mind while you were asleep.
You knew long ago that the all so scary Balladeer had developed feelings for you. It was the little things he did for you that made you question but today, this whole incident made it clear to you that the 6th Fatui Harbinger harbours feelings for his assistant.
You did as well of course. Even though he was a pain in the ass sometimes, it feels as if no one understand you more than he does, and likewise.
Scooting closer to the harbinger, you brought your hand up to his cheek and made him face you.
He saw your expression and even though you said nothing, he knew what you meant. "I'm not leaving you here."
You both slowly moved closer and kissed each other, removing all the tension in the balladeers shoulder.

if i am the wind, fleeting and transient, you are the steady and constant earth upon which i stand.
summary. kaedehara kazuha's older sibling is a geo-aligned mirror of himself.
trigger & content warnings. references to tomo's death and mentions of sensory overload.
tropes, pairings, fic length, & other notes. fluff, hurt/comfort. kazuha & older sibling!reader, slight beidou x reader. 0.7k words. they/them pronouns for reader. reader has a geo vision.
author's thoughts. this was an old draft that i decided to finish bc tbh? kazuha >>> lately i'm finishing and posting old drafts? i think it's because i'm realizing that they aren't even half as bad as i originally thought.
Tumblr media
imagine being kazuha's geo bearing older sibling.
kaedehara kazuha is, for the most part, a gentle gale. fleeting, transient, evanescent.
kaedehara [name] is his polar opposite—they are the firm earth. lasting, enduring, permanent.
they were easily one of the raiden shogun's most vocal opposers during the vision hunt decree. how dare she treat her people with such lack of care? the people she should have loved? the people that she had once promised a dream to? where was all that love when she decided to cruelly rip her citizens' visions from them in spite of all the terrible effects such force had? where was all that love?
(even after the decree gets repealed, they would still be a little bitter. they're expected to forgive her, just like that? no. their forgiveness is a thing to be earned; hell, they may simply choose to never forgive her, and after all the pain she caused them and their brother? it would be justified. they do not care if she is an archon.)
"eternity is not complacency in a stasis-like state," they once told kazuha, "but rather, it is the endurance of a legacy for centuries to come. that is eternity."
they stayed back in inazuma, holding off the shogunate while kazuha ran away after tomo's death.
he cried when he had to part from them, but at their command, he ultimately did obey. as much as it hurt him to abandon them, not knowing if they'd somehow manage to escape on their own, he knew they would hate it if he refused to leave. so he did.
thankfully, the resistance took them in. they stayed with kokomi and gorou the majority of the time, helping them push back against the electro archon's tyranny.
kazuha definitely adores his older sibling!! he will literally never say a single bad thing about them to anyone. never. no slander will come from his lips.
when beidou first got to meet them, she was absolutely overjoyed; she can see where kazuha gets his attitude from! they also thanked her profusely for taking such good care of him when they could not. the two got on very well! kazuha was so happy to see some of his favorite people getting along <3
beidou loves them. genuinely.
she always encourages them to come on the alcor. there is always a place for them with her crew! sometimes they do take her up on her offer and they travel teyvat for a while. once their family affairs are settled, they'll start traveling full-time, occassionally returning to inazuma to visit their friends.
she also gets so excited when she knows they'll be on board—beidou likes exchanging stories with them and just... talking. she loves that.
someone had to teach kazuha how to play music on leaves, you know. it was definitely [name].
kazu and his sibling would compliment one another really well in battle. they'd be able to predict one another's next moves based on muscle twitches, changes in stance... it's like they can read each other's minds! they can't. they just know one another inside and out.
sometimes they'll cup their hands over his ears to protect him in situations where he cannot avoid a storm or similar thing that might hurt his ears. this gesture is greatly appreciated. kazuha does what he can to reciprocate that—if they're overwhelmed or overstimulated? his first priority is to get them somewhere calmer. they protect him in his moments of sensitivity, so it's only fair for him to do the same.
i like to think kazuha and his sibling sit and admire scenery together. maybe they point out shapes in the clouds. maybe they take note of interesting sounds they hear in the bushes. however the two spend their time admiring the world, it is always an enjoyable time.
i also think the two would play in the rain, as long as it isn't too heavy <3 dancing in the rain together, taking walks in the rain together... it'a comforting.
sometimes kazuha will lay his head on their lap as if he were some kind of cat, and he'll just fall asleep. a mid-afternoon nap on his older sibling.
on top of all of that, kazuha speaks his mind to his sibling, and he hopes they'll do the same. he wants them to always be honest about what they're thinking and how they're feeling.
he knows that, as the eldest, they may have had to carry heavy burdens all throughout his childhood, while he got the privilege of existing without a care in the world.
the heavy burdens will be no more.
he is old enough to help shoulder the weight, and help shoulder the weight he will.
please consider reblogging, it helps me out quite a lot!

What if there were tattoos in teyvat...but with a twist?
If you are a vision wielder, you can infuse elemental power into your tattoo. Whenever you get into battle, your tattoo glows and it stays glowing until the battle is over.
But, you could also have other vision wielders infuse your tattoo as well.
When you, kazuha, and tomo used to travel together, you proposed of the idea.
"Hey... we should get matching tattoos! You know, the ones with each other visions infused. That would be cool."
Kazuha hummed in response. “Don’t they hurt though?”
Tomo brightened at your suggestion. “Oh yeah! Some methods of inking hurt, but some are less painful and take longer. I think the method they use to infuse elemental power does take longer, considering the person has to wield their vision AND bear the pain.”
Kazuha hummed again but in disagreement. “Why would you make yourself go through all that pain once more?”
The companion to Kazuha’s left let out a huff. “Pssh, in comparison to the result! We can have permanent matching tattoos to remind us of the amazing friendship we have!”
You nodded excitedly. “See Kazuha, even Tomo thinks it’s a great idea! However…”
Tomo and Kazuha both turn to face you with curiosity.
“...I fail to agree with how Tomo views one part of our bond…”
“Hm? [ name ], what do you mean,” Tomo questioned.
You took a deep breath before sending a prayer to any archon who would answer in time. for you were about to make what you believed was the riskiest choice of your life.
You brought Kazuha’s closest hand and let your thumb stroke his rough, calloused skin, before lifting it to your lips. Letting your lips linger on his skin, you ignored both Kazuha’s and Tomo’s widened eyes and whispered your confession. “I would like to turn it into something more. If… If you would allow me.”
When you looked to see him, Kazuha’s face was burning. For once, the calm, collected wanderer was not calm and collected at all. To your side, Tomo let out a whistle which caused Kazuha’s face to become undoubtedly more flustered.
Tomo smirked before saying, “Well, well, well. looks like [ name ] learned from the best,” before patting himself on the back, smug and prideful of himself.
You copied his words mockingly. You let go of Kazuha's hands, instead focusing on making sure Tomo ate dust. Both of these duties were equally important to you, but sometimes you have to fight for dignity, and if anyone could make sure Tomo didn’t leave with your pride, it would be you.
You two bickered for what seemed like ages before Kazuha finally spoke up. “You guys…”
Both you and Tomo immediately shut up and held your breaths at the sudden change of tone.
“Sorry Kazuha…”
“No worries…”
Kazuha looked at you two for what seemed like ages. He realized that, out of all the times and out of all the people he would even dare to get a tattoo, you two were the most reasonable choice. You three have explored, laughed, and eaten together. As wanderers, you’ve slept under the same stars and ran through the same quick-tempered storms. So as much as he didn’t want to deal with more pain for the sake of it, he would want to have both of you engraved into his skin, both of your souls running through his blood. When he is separated from you two (archons forbid), all he would have to do is look at his forearms to remind him of the bond you’ve tightened with one another. It would remind him that “distance makes the heart grow fonder”.
“I would like them. The tattoos.”
Tomo scoffed and shot a disapproving look at you. “See, now that you have Kazuha wrapped around your finger, he’ll agree to anything now!”
“Hey! He’s doing it out of free will. And oh please, you’re just whiny that you’re gonna be third wheeling now!”
“Who said I was gonna be third wheeling?!”
Kazuha smiled, as the bickering sprang back into life. You three reached the city to search for a tattoo, a symbol of the bond you have made with them. Nothing will break it apart.
And you did get the tattoos! For all three of you, each of your forearms was covered in traditional Inazuman artworks, symbolizing each person.
Kazuha chose the maple tree, Tomo chose the koi fish, and you chose the rising sun. Each has its symbolism, having its own way of reminding you of each other.
Kazuha wouldn’t be Kazuha without representing the calm, peaceful maple tree, standing over to make sure all under the shade is rested.
As his perseverance and his courage make him a good traveling companion, Tomo represents the koi fish.
As for you… You found yourself closest to the rising sun. Ever so optimistic, ever so hopeful for the new day. The darkness may have clung to you; trying to slowly hack into your mind to give up, trying to belittle your efforts. But when dawn breaks and the sun rises, the newfound warmth comforts your shivering body. The sun is there to say all will be alright.
Except when it isn’t.
For as soon as it seemed like everything would be okay, that hope was crushed by reality as quickly.
The Vision Hunt Degree had been ordered by the Shogun to kill anyone who possessed one.
The day it was enforced to all of Inazuma was the day the two closest people in your life were separated from you. In the heat of the moment, you shouted for them to run; for you would distract the soldiers. Tomo and Kazuha both tried to ignore your order and keep on fighting but were soon met with a sting on their arm. The rising sun drawn on their arms practically shone with the color of your vision, and it was hard to ignore how much of your vision you were using.
“I said, GO!”
They had no time to disagree with you, for another soldier swung the sword at both of them. You saw them running in the corner of your eyes, assumably heading in different directions before focusing on the battle in front of you.
Your anger manifested into your attacks, your arms glowing.
How… How could the Shogun be so cruel..? How could she just determine that Inazuma's hopes and ambitions were useless? How could she take the people closest to you away…?
The soldiers fell to the ground one by one as they tried to get back up. With the last of them wounded temporarily, you ran as quickly as you could. Trying to find Kazuha and Tomo, you lifted your hand to block the light and search far and wide…
Only to find nothing.
Your heart felt as if it stopped and a new sense of fear rushed through. What if they were hurt? What if they were lost, or found by the soldiers? Or worse…What if they were lying dead?
What if what if what if what if what if what if WHAT IF-
You look down and see the maple tree and the koi fish glowing; purple and teal were coloring your arms. The glow didn’t sting, so you knew they weren’t out in battle, but they were out there. They were alive.
You sighed in relief, but it didn’t last long when you heard soldiers yelling to find you. You quickly hid under the trees and took one last look at the view ahead of you. The distance grows the heart fonder, and in this situation, much, much more disquieted.
And for the first time in what seemed like forever, you were alone. And you felt it in your soul.
Before you met Kazuha and Tomo, you were alone. You wandered around, knowing you were to be by yourself. You were just “yourself”.
But now that you know you were separated from them, it was terrifying.
Now, if someone asked “how are you”, the word “you” was Tomo, you, and Kazuha laughing along the trails leading to the city. “You” included the times you watched the stars, pointing to different constellations.
“You” included you, Kazuha, and Tomo.
And now that two-thirds of yourself were lost, you felt as if you would never relieve this pain in your heart.
Every day, you looked at your arms and were met with how dull they looked without the familiar purple and teal glow.
But still, you didn’t stop.
Wandering through a small town, you sat down on the grass to take a rest. There weren’t any soldiers around, and your face was hidden by a hat.
“Did you hear?!”
Your ears perked up at the stranger’s sudden shock.
“What happened? You seem so shocked.”
The stranger closest to you took a deep breath as if what he witnessed was a burden to his soul.
“Someone is challenging Kujou Sara in Tenshukaku, and the loser will face the Shogun's punishment… Last time I saw him, he had an electro vision…”
Your eyes widened. Please don’t be….he couldn’t have…
“Did you see him in person?”
“Yeah, I think he has some tattoos on his arms. I saw a tattoo of a koi fish and a maple tree on his arm-“
“Did you hear that?!”
The two strangers looked towards where you were but found nothing but a straw hat gently falling onto the grass.
Up ahead, your legs ran faster than your mind trying to make sense of it all.
Tomo.
Tomo.
You ran, and you ran, and when you felt like your heart was going to burst, you remembered Tomo, and you ran faster. Your legs felt like they were merely connected to your body, running to a place of its own. But what could you do, when your mind still couldn't find an explanation for all of this?
Tomo… why would he stand before Raiden's Musou no Hitomachi? He knew Kujou Sara was a potent individual, so why…
Thoughts lingered through your mind as you caught sight of Inazuma City. The thunder roared, and you realized it didn't have the spark it used to have.
Your hands shook as the Inazuma City you once knew was not your Inazuma City.
It felt too stiff. Too suffocating. You couldn't feel the cool air breeze through your hair, as the humidity made you want to turn back.
You force yourself to run down to the entrance of the city and Tenshukaku.
You were scared. More than scared. Your shaking hands held your vision close.
Would you see Tomo smiling in victory? Or would you see your vision go white from her strike? Would you regain your vision to see one of your closest friends lying in his blood?
Your pace grew faster and faster.
And faster.
And faster and faster and faster-
But when you stopped in front of the stairs where Tomo was supposed to be, you instead saw Kazuha run to you, panicked. And in his burnt hands, was a gray vision, with the markings of an electro holder.
You were too late.
You almost didn't hear Kazuha's desperate pleas as he grabbed your hand.
"[ Name ], we have to go."
You both ran down the stairs as soldiers ran after; their shouts ringing through your ears.
“You can't resist the Shogun's punishment, criminals!"
Ignoring their threats, you ran past Inazuma City’s entrance and soon past Konda Village. You couldn’t tell if the soldiers were still behind you, but it didn’t matter when all you could hear was their voices running through your head. You and Kazuha ran for what felt like hours. No matter how hard you tried to slow your pacing heart, Kazuha tugged your hand as he ran. You wanted to tell him to slow down, but you didn’t have the heart to.
You didn’t have the heart after you were too slow to save Tomo.
The rain poured as thunder roared in your ears. You and Kazuha ran into a cave and leaned against the wall to catch your breath.
Kazuha, sitting opposite of you, pulled out the gray, lifeless vision. His hands were burned, yet they gripped the vision painfully.
Your breath hitched. Your throat closed in on itself, and your memories of Tomo flashed through your eyes.
Tomo.
Tomo.
Tomo.
Before you could stop yourself, the tears matched the rain out of the cave, and you shakily held Kazuha’s hands. Your tears fell on the vision that once shined with the pride of an electro holder, and your agony couldn’t be held in you anymore.
A gut-wrenching cry of his name left your throat, and you let the cold, gray vision touch your forehead. Kazuha didn’t have the energy to wince; his tears hitting the ground.
The sun never shone that day. And the sun in your soul didn’t either.
After that day, both you and Kazuha stayed by each other’s side, graciously taking the help of the Kamisato clan to board the Crux.
Beidou’s crew were extremely generous to both of you, making sure you got used to life above seas. Yet, they always wondered why you and Kauzha were so quiet. You only talked to each other, and your interactions were short and dry.
As months passed, Kazuha grew to be much more chatty with the crew, even letting you hear his poems underneath the moonlight.
You were genuinely happy for him. Kazuha deserved to let the world guide his spirits without any hesitation. You never wanted the shine in Kazuha’s eyes to stop shining, unlike the fateful day you both witnessed.
But you…you never let it go. You couldn’t let yourself forget.
Too slow.
You were too slow to save him.
Working on the ship, you made sure your hands swiftly moved through your chores; making sure your lack of speed didn’t burden any of the crew. When you had time to yourself, your hands gripped your weapon and your steps were swift and sneaky. Your body ached to rest, but your heart disagreed. You were to make sure that this would never happen again. You were to make sure no one would lose their life because of you.
Kazuha watched your eyes struggle to open daily, your fingers bruised and sore, and the hours spent training without a minute to rest. Captain Beidou seemed to notice as well.
“Kazuha?”
His head turned to the side as his legs dangled over the side of the boat.
“Yes, Captain Beidou?”
She sighed, and she looked to make sure you weren’t near.
“It’s about your partner.”
Kazuha frowned.
“I am aware.”
“Please talk to them. They look like death is at their door. Does this have to do with going back to Inazuma?”
Kazuha nodded and turned his head back to the sea.
“The wind tells me of their concerns. I hear the fears that crawl through their mind. The sun doesn’t shine in their soul like it used to.”
He looked down at his arms as the color of your vision glowed on his arms.
Beidou patted Kazuha’s shoulder in solace.
“I understand. Just…please get a chance to talk to them. I wouldn’t want a part of my crew working themselves to death. As a part of the Crux, you guys have a support system behind you. If you ever need us, you know where.”
Kazuha smiled and whispered a “thank you”, as Beidou returned to help the crew navigate the ship. He looked over at you, who came back from training, and smiled. You gave a tired but soft smile back, before leaving to finish up chores.
The sun was no longer visible as the crew finished their tasks and headed to their cabins. Instead of resting, Kazuha watched over the seas. The moonlight hit his face, and the black ink swiftly glided over his journal.
“I was wondering where you could’ve been. You weren’t in the cabin.”
Kazuha turned to see you walking up to him. Your eyes pleaded to shut, and for a moment you were about to fall asleep standing up. Yet, you still went to make sure Kauzha was okay.
Kazuha cupped your face, and you leaned into his touch.
“Kazu…”
“Do you wish to hear something I wrote?”
You slowly nodded. Kazuha looked at his journal and whispered.
“Rising sun hidden,
the world’s horror blinding you,
my sun stays fearful.”
When Kazuha looked back at you, he almost giggled at your sleep-deprived state. Your eyes were closed, and you leaned into his hand like a pillow.
“Mmm…? That’s nice, Kazuha…”
He smiled at your attempt to stay awake. “Let’s get you to bed, sleepy.”
Your head landed on his shoulder as you shuffled your feet. Kazuha sighed in relief that everyone was in their cabins. He wouldn’t be able to take the crew’s teasing if they ever saw the comical sight of you two.
As soon as you caught sight of your bed, you fell into it and brought the soft blankets up to your chin.
You were dead asleep, it seemed.
Kazuha climbed into bed and laid his head next to yours. With his eyes drooping, Kazuha whispered one more thing before falling into slumber.
“My rising sun. Please don’t hide yourself away from everyone. We’re always here for you. I’m here. Always.”
When Kazuha fell asleep soon after, he never noticed the tears on your skin.
You whispered back. “Thank you.”
After that night, Kazuha was thrilled to see you walking around the boat with more energy, even taking the time to sit with Kazuha as he mused over his poems.
Kazuha recently had started to see if he could somehow ignite the purple glow into the vision, while you had no hope for it.
“Kazuha… are you sure?”
“I want to at least try once. After all, it couldn’t hurt, would it?”
“I guess…”
You both meet a blonde traveler with fiery gold eyes. As the Traveler competed throughout the contest hosted by Beidou, you couldn’t help but notice Kazuha’s keen interest in the traveler.
“You’ve been staring at the Traveler for quite a while. What’s up with that?”
Kazuha hummed. “The wind tells me that this humble traveler is going to be more important to our journey than it seems.”
He paused. “Why do you ask?”
“Oh, nothing, nothing. Just wondering, that's all.”
You both stayed silent as you watched the duels unfold.
“You’re not jealous, are you?”
You gasped and almost choked on your spit. You turn your head to Kazuha who grinned mischievously.
“Huh?! Where did you get that?!”
Kazuha pretended to act bewildered at your reaction. “Your reaction is quite defensive, dear. That says quite a lot, doesn’t it?”
“You…you! I never thought of you being so cunning and devious!”
Kazuha giggled, and you smiled back. “I’m just teasing. Although, I wasn’t necessarily wrong.”
You scoffed with faux anger. “Focus on the duels, Kazu…”
As expected, the Traveler was victorious in the duels, since the last challenger was nowhere to be found.
Suspicious of the no-show, Kazuha checked to see the award to find nothing in the chest. Kazuha’s eyes widened and his tone lost its playfulness.
“Someone stole the vision.”
You quickly stood up to check yourself and were also greeted by a visionless chest.
Beidou’s voice echoed to the crew. “Everyone start searching!”
You soon found the vision to be with a treasure hoarder. The hoarder begging for his life, Kazuha sighed and confiscated the vision. You and Kazuha were quite impressed with the Traveler’s ability to wield elemental power without a vision.
All that the Traveler asked was to be taken to Inazuma. With final warnings and hesitations from you, the Traveler was to board the ship with you to the land of eternity.
When the ship did reach the docks, the Traveler and Paimon immediately hopped off and looked at the beauty of Inazuma.
With hesitation you walk to the wooden dock, the Inazuman breeze flowing past you.
The Traveler looked back and smiled at you and Kazuha. “Thank you so much, you two.”
You smiled back, shaking your head. “No worries. Just make sure to remember what I said. Don’t want you to get hurt, ok?”
Kazuha snickered next to you. “You sound like a parent. But please do heed caution. May you meet us again, Traveler.”
Paimon laughed, “Alright, alright, we’ll see you later!”
Paimon and the Traveler waved before they headed to Ritou.
Beidou suddenly walked past both of you, before saying she wanted to take the Traveler to Thoma. You both nodded, promising to watch over the ship.
As you returned to the ship, Kazuha looked over the horizon into Ritou.
“Worried?”
Kazuha hummed.
“What’s on your mind?”
“Will the Traveler be alright? I understand the incredible ability to have elemental power without a vision, but…”
“But…?”
He looked down at his arms and stared at the koi fish. “Tomo.”
You looked down onto your arms and stared into the grey koi fish. "Tomo…"
You willed yourself not to shed a tear and squeezed Kazuha's shoulder. "We're not going to let anyone else lose their life and their vision. Not even the Traveler. The dreams of Inazuma will not be stuck to rot in eternity. You got it?'"
Kazuha looked back at you and smiled, wiping a tear from his eye. "Yes, we will."
You took his hand and pulled him towards you, wrapping your arms around his back. He buried his head in the crook of your neck and you pressed your lips to the top of his head.
You quickly lowered your voice before continuing. "I think the Traveler has a major role in the freedom of Inazuma. The Traveler has a lot of power with no vision."
Kazuha hummed in agreement.
"Yet… I fear the Shogun will be displeased with the Traveler’s ability to change her view of eternity."
"The shogun wouldn't be pleased with anything, Kazuha. But in retaliation, do years of anger ask whether anyone's feelings would be hurt?"
A moment of silence, before Kazuha whispered, "You're right. Thank you, dear."
You loosened your embrace to kiss him on the forehead. "Let's go eat something. I'm sure I saw the chef cooking the fish well."
Kazuha laughed, and you swore to the Shogun that nothing, not even her, could take Kazuha from you.
You both walked to the kitchen to fulfill your stomach's desire, and you made your heart promise to you that day to never stop fighting for Inazuma. For your heart desired to love Inazuma, and in turn, Inazuma would always welcome you home.
Months of preparation and months of aiding the resistance, you and Kazuha finally step foot in Inazuma, fighting with Kokomi and her resistance to let the Kujou army retreat.
The Traveler and Paimon were very happy to see both of you, telling you of their journey and the fight with the Shogun herself. Kazuha’s and your eyes widened at the tales they told.
“Like… fighting the Shogun?”
“Technically? Thoma and I ran out as soon as possible and I came to the resistance.”
You were awed by the Traveler’s skill and wit to not be killed by the Shogun. You knew that they were extraordinary, and the Traveler did not disappoint, soon finding out about the delusions being handed out.
You couldn't be surprised at the Fatui's inhumane crimes. But the severity of the damage. The lives lost to their carelessness. The dreams which no longer thrived.
Your fingers and arms shook with anger. You tapped your fingers on your leg to resist pulling out your sword and stabbing the wall.
The Traveler gave you a joyless smile, understanding your pain.
The Traveler went off to fight Raiden Shogun, and Kazuha, the resistance, and you stood outside Tenshukaku. You were discussing tactics to negotiate when the Traveler came back out smiling.
You all watched the Traveler and Paimon walk out of Tenshukaku with a triumphant smile. You were about to run to the Traveler to praise them when a flash of electro appeared behind them. Your eyes widened and you swore you almost saw flashbacks running through your head.
The shogun emerged behind the Traveler and raised her sword.
You couldn't do anything. She was going to kill another person.
The adrenaline ran through Kazuha's body, and he ran towards the Shogun with his sword out.
You saw a flash of purple overwhelm your vision, and you already prepared yourself to see the Shogun's purple glow kill Kazuha.
What you didn't expect was to see your arms glowing in purple and teal. Looking up, you saw Kazuha’s vision glowing as his sword clashed with the Shogun's. Close to his vision, Tomo's vision glowed a vivid purple. The vision glowed brighter and brighter, and as your arms glowed an insane purple, Kazuha struck the Shogun back.
Tomo.
Tomo.
The vision.
The vision lit up.
You whispered.
"Holy shit."
Kazuha was knocked back by her sword and fell backward. His sword stabbed itself into the ground, and he kneeled in pain.
You and Gorou rushed to him to make sure he was alright. You looked at the visions on his belt, before looking back at the Shogun.
Anger bubbled in your throat, and adrenaline ran through your veins. Your vision revealed itself and glowed profusely. The tattoos on Kazuha's and your skins glowed. Before you could process your own emotions, you stood and let out a gut-wrenching, demanding yell. But it wasn't painful like that fateful day. It was of rebellion and hope.
"Charge!"
You ran towards the Shogun with your weapon in your hand and your heart laid out in plain sight.
Except it wasn’t for the Shogun to shatter. It was for the Inazuman kids who dreamed of going into the world. It was for the Inazuman shopkeepers who always looked at the ocean longingly. It was for the Inazuman vision holders to freely let their vision guide them through their ambitions. It was for future electro-holders to make a difference in their lives. It was for Inazuma to glow its purple light throughout Tevyat. It was for Inazuma. This was for Inazuma and it’s forever changing people.
Gorou soon ordered to attack, and the resistance fighters ran beside you towards the Teyvat.
So this is what Tomo felt, you thought. You were to be insane for fighting, but you would be damned to give in to the Shogun. Because do years of anger ask whether anyone's feelings are hurt?
The shogun seemed unfazed by the army charging at her and opened the Plane of Euthymia. The Traveler fell inside, and she shut the seeming new realm. You tried to grab the Traveler back, but the Shogun was faster. The Plane closed, and you cursed at the winds. You looked to the skies to see gray clouds fill the skies.
Why were you too late every time?
You stopped to catch your breath and looked at the ground where the Shogun stood.
The electro-marked ground darkened from the rigorous and desperate fighting to be free.
You looked back at Kazuha and looked back at the fighters who were paused in their steps. Their eyes widened at the disappearance, and their eyebrows were furrowed from the anger, which turned into confusion.
Your voice echoed down the staircase, and it felt like you were yelling to all of Inazuma.
“To all who have visions! To all who have lost theirs!”
Eyes of fighters watched you with curiosity. Crimson eyes watched you with admiration.
“Our visions are a symbol of life to all! With the Shogun’s order to take them away, our humanity is stripped away from us to fit us into a mold of unattainable eternity! To all who have visions, don’t hide yourself anymore! Our ambitions, our dreams, our emotions, and our humanity shouldn’t be diminished to a name on a gravestone! Everyone, pull out your visions! Channel the overwhelming emotions in your heart to your vision! Let the Shogun hear your wishes no matter how far she is, for she is omnipresent!”
The fighters yelled and made their presence known. Some of them closed their eyes to let their visions glow, and you soon joined them. Your heart raced, and your arms glowed the color of your vision. You felt electro cackle around you as it stroked your skin.
The statue outside Tenshukaku glowed in different colors: dark blue, crimson red, bright teal, light blue, gold, and electrifying purple.
The fighters kept envisioning their power in their visions for as long as they could. They didn’t leave, standing with their hand on their vision for as long as they needed to.
And with every action comes a reaction.
The Plane of Euthymia reemerged, and the Traveler fell out of its opening. Bruised and tired, but alive the Traveler seemed.
Gorou, Kazuha and you rushed to their aid. The fighter stood close in case another attack were to happen.
“Traveler, what happened? Are you okay?!”
The traveler struggled to catch their breath but spoke small words as they recovered.
“The…the Vision Hunt…Vision Hunt Decree…”
Your eyebrows furrowed in worry. What did the Shogun want now?
You spoke in confusion. “The Vision Hunt Decree? What does she want?”
The Traveler raised their head and closed their eyes in bliss. Sweat dripped from their face, and they smiled.
“The Vision Hunt Decree. It’s over. It’s gone. Your pleas and protests got to her.”
Your mind stopped all thoughts.
…What?
Blue and crimson eyes widened at the Traveler’s statement.
Your voice unusually got quiet. “You’re joking, right?”
The Traveler laughed, more out of euphoria. “I got back from almost dying from her sword, and you’re asking me if I’m joking? Tell the entirety of Inazuma. They deserve to know this; this is for them.”
You stood up in a daze and shouted.
“The Vision Hunt Decree is over! The Vision Hunt is over!”
The resistance fighters roared in joy. Their steps, running down the staircase, echoed to the winds, and the winds blew in freedom.
Your body ran down the stairs with them, and your voice cracked with emotion as you shouted down the steps of Inazuma City. People stood outside to check the commotion and were instead met with a new sense of freedom. Visions hidden in homes began to glow, and the cheers and laughter of Inazuma echoed around you.
Overwhelmed with too many emotions, you stopped in your tracks when you felt your vision getting blurry. Behind you, Kazuha shouted for your name repeatedly. You looked behind and were almost tackled into the ground. Kazuha’s shoulders shook as he wrapped his arms around you. You responded in kind and sunk your knees onto the floor.
You both wept in joy. For the people you have lost, and for the people who are given freedom.
Kazuha’s voice cracked as he spoke,” We did it. It’s over.”
You cried even more in his arms. Kazuha held your hand as his endless tears journeyed down his face.
“Do you… Do you think Tomo is happy with us?”
At the mention of his name, Kazuha gritted his teeth and almost let out a sob. He raised your head with his hand on your jaw, and you finally saw Kazuha’s tear-stained face. He quickly tried to rub them away, but you were faster. You gently put your forehead on his and closed his eyes.
Kazuha closed his own and whispered in the abode of two lovers’ embrace. “He would be so proud. He would be watching us right now and grin at his glowing vision.”
“Maybe he’s probably cursing at both of us for the non-stop crying.”
Kazuha let out a watery laugh. “He would, but you would be arguing back. Non-stop bickering between you guys.”
You almost gave a snarky response when you felt the sunlight caress your skin. You looked up to find the gray clouds giving way to the sun, and you were enamored with the blue skies that grazed over Inazuma. Kazuha looked up as well, and as the city of Inazuma saw the sun in its glory, no one noticed the slight glow of purple koi fish on bruised, yet glowing skin.

Staring at the blade I wield, I could hear the distant sounds of footsteps slowly approaching as slowly look up to the Raiden Shogan doing her Musou no Hitotachi.
Her divine punishment.
Briefly closing my eyes, the last thing I saw was her holding the blade upwards in the air.
At least, Kazuha will be able to get out alive.
So, this is it. I'll die like this and although I do have some regrets, it seems like, I won't be able to apologize...for everything.
She pops up in my mind, I guess dying with her image in my mind won't be bad...I won't be able to see her beautiful smile and the eyes I love the most.
"?!" I'm suddenly pushed back by a force, and the sounds of blades hitting each other are heard as I pick myself up from the floor. My eyes widen at the sight in front of me.
Electro sparks in the area as the Raiden Shogan pushes down her blade onto the (H/c)'s blade.
"(Y/n)?"
She grits her teeth, struggling to keep the sword from doing any more damage but her strength is decreasing as I could see the Shogan's blade win this fight.
Her (E/c) eyes narrow at the Archon, "run." She says as I look at her confused before I heard footsteps behind me, arms pulling me up.
"Tomo! We need to go—" I look back to see it was Kazuha, breathing heavily and by the looks of it he ran all the way here. He gasps as he looks away from me and to the scene in front of us.
"..(y/n)?" He gasps out just she struggles to hold down the blade as the electro energy burns down on her hand on the grip of the sword.
"You need to run!" She yells, the Shogan's blade pressing more in as the ground underneath the (H/c)-Indigo-haired's feet break from the pressure. "Now!"
Kazuha and I watch in horror as the Shogan does her ultimate move (basically what she did to Signora) as Kazuha holds back me from running to the scenes. Eyes filled with fear before a small stone lands beside us.
Without hesitating, Kazuha picks it up, gripping the taller male's arm, and tugging him back.
Yelling at him that they needed to go but Tomo's eyes were glued to the scene before they start to run away.
Kazuha gripped the electro vision as it went into flames, burning his hand in the process as he held it close to his chest.
Tomo woke up to the feeling of soft paws on his face, groaning as he sat up, his white cat sliding off as it meows at him before jumping off.
He eyes his cat, a little annoyed at being woken up yet he sighs, his tired eyes look at the stone that was turned into a necklace, the dead vision hanging from his neck as if a reminder of what happened that day.
Kazuha also burned his hand in the process but he remains fine physically.
Standing up, he brushes off any dirt on his clothes, he's been having more dreams of that day, and other days, they're just nightmares, blaming himself for what happened.
"Tomo, Captain Beidou is asking for you." One of the crew members of the Crux calls to him, carrying a crate.
He nods, managing to smile at them before it drops as soon as they're gone, sighing, he goes to find Beidou.
Sipping a cup of tea, you eye Aether who is rambling again about how no one bothers to help him find his lost kin.
It's been a couple of months since you met him whenever he's in Liyue, he would come to find as you always let him rant about what happens in his adventures out in the wild.
Learning about his sister was something he was hesitant to share and you completely understood why. You two were similar in some ways.
A strand of your hair falls on your face as you put down the cup with a delicate movement and fold your hands on your lap, making eye contact with the blonde.
Luckily that companion he has was not here, she was never present when you two were together since you voiced out how you didn't quite like having her in these moments so Aether, being the sweetheart he was, made sure to leave her in his teapot for the time being.
Parting your lips, "I have a younger brother," you say, "and similar to your sister, he's not quite on the right path like her."
He looks at you, holding his drink, "under certain circumstances, I decided to follow after him so I could stand by him."
Your gaze dropped to the crowd in the distance, "after all, it's the job of the older sibling to protect the younger one, is it not?" Sighing, you spot a ship in the distance that reminded you of something.
Aether nods, agreeing with what you said, he wants to protect his sister from the dangers but she just pushes him away in the end.
"Similar situation except," you look back at him with half-lidded eyes and arms crossed on your chest, "if my brother asked me to...let's say, sacrifice myself for his benefits, I would do it without hesitation."
He shivers at how your words hold such malice in them "I would do anything to make him reach his goal and be happy." A tiny smile appears on your lips as Aether blinks.
"I know you wouldn't do such a thing, just keep trying to pursue her, she'll change her mind." You say, moving along from what you just revealed to him. "I love my brother dearly, that's all." You grin before gesturing to the boat in the distance with the fan in your hand.
"I heard Beidou is going to host a tournament soon, I think you should join." He gives you a look, "the prize might interest you."
One of his brows raises at the mention of a prize as he gives you his best puppy eyes to tell him what the prize is. He had heard people that the Crux crew was holding a tournament but he wasn't interested, he just wanted a way to go to Inazuma to find the Electro Archon.
Your eyes narrow at him as you learn in a bit and in a hushed tone you spoke, "The prize is an empty vision,
and maybe you could ask Beidou to give you a ride to Inazuma since it looks like the vision doesn't interest you."
Leaning back, you watch as he takes in the information and he stands up, his knee hits the side of the table, making him wince in pain.
Rubbing his knee, he quickly waves at you before leaving to get Paimon as you sigh, content with how things are going.
Enjoying this brief moment of relaxation before work begins again.
A spot of black fog emerges from behind you, a Pyro Agent kneeling before you, his head bowing as you sigh in annoyance.
"Your orders..."
Your eyes linger on the boat before looking at the now cold cup of tea in front of you, "Prepare a pen and paper, I need to send a letter to my brother."
The Pyro Agent shivers at your tone, he wished you treat him like how you treat the traveler—
"Let us begin."
He quickly takes out the materials, handing them to you as you thanked him.
He waits in utter silence as your scribble away, taking a chance to admire you this close. In his old job, he remembers always watching from a distance as his position as a guard for the Shogun was nothing really special but here......
Signing your name at the end of the letter, you put it in your pocket.
"W-where will we be headed next?" The agent asks, watching as you stood up from your seat and to the railing, admiring the scenery of Liyue, the wind blowing strands of your hair.
"Inazuma." You answer, "Signora is waiting for my arrival."
"The Fair Lady is already there?"
You nod, "yes and I'll soon meet up with my creator,
Ei, the electro archon after 500 years of her abandoning us."
Your voice is timid and small as you spoke about her. Yes, you'll get to see her after so long but for a different reason.
The agent lowers his gaze, "I'll prepare your things for the trip." A aching pain in his chest as he bows before walking away, leaving you alone with your thoughts.
