something I love about Adaine's detect thoughts, is all the bad kids played a part in taking Porter down. It was the gift Fabian gave her for Mooner Yulenear that made it different than a normal detect thoughts that let her reach Ankarna. it was Riz's roll to get allies that brought Sandralynn into the fight and she picked Adaine in the turn before she used her detect thoughts so they could win. Fig and Kristen are there and willingly fail her detect thoughts so they have a wide range of persuasive evidence even if Porter succeeded on his roll. And Gorgug used one of his gadgets that he was building up the whole season with his new subclass to lower Porter's save so that Porter failed the detect thoughts.

Adaine by her own admission isn't good at faith stuff, but she has faith in her friends. They have never let her down and they were all there to catch her when she took a leap of faith and it saved the world

KIPPERLILLY COPPERKETTLE

Kipperlilly's rage, this is a part that is probably very challenging for Riz: where Kipperlilly talks about being jealous. It's one of the first meetings in her sophomore year, where she talks about how jealous she is that Kalvaxus killed Riz's dad. And she basically, over the course of sophomore year, is losing it, having rage outbursts. At one point, she is basically saying, it should be adjusted for academically if a person's family has suffered intense magical hardship, because that's an unfair advantage in adventuring. Kipperlilly's hatred gets even more out of whack this junior year. She wants to murder Kristen Applebees. She thinks that all of the Bad Kids are going to elect Kristen Applebees as a joke and then not even take the office after they win it. She hates Fabian because he's the most popular kid in school and he's helping this campaign. She hates how omnipresent Fig is in terms of denying her access to get to Kristen... The the language changes in the back half of her sophomore year from, "It's so unfair," "I think Arthur Aguefort likes them more," "I think the school takes it easy on them," "Half of them don't even go to classes," and then starting at the end of last sophomore year, it's flat out, "I hate them."

This was a good season and the cast looked hot as hell in their emo fit.

Adaine spending her turn saving her friends, who are all tankier than her to protect them, then wasting the turns of both Porter and 2 of the Jace's. All while snarking at them and letting them know they are bad at plans and villainy.

My favorite d20 character and elven oracle. I am so scared for her but so proud

I disagree with this actually! Part 1 of the finale is great and I don't really think that there is any narrative dissonance. These kids are in life or death situations, they are having 9th level spells thrown at them. The Bad Kids are literally fighting for the fate of Solace and the greater world right now, you CANNOT half-ass that. If you're an adventurer in-universe you have a LOT of instincts about how shit goes, and I think you learn pretty quickly that when fighting for the fate of an entire realm you can't afford to take an attempt to fix someone else mid-battle.

Kipperlily Copperkettle is ruthless, Porter (actively turning into a god) Cliffbreaker, is RUTHLESS (he literally tried to stun the entire party before combat even started, which Brennan showed a few episodes ago could stunlock them for multiple turns.) Showing a moment of pity or weakness by spending a turn trying to convince someone to join their team will almost definitely result in death.

It's a dog eats dog (in her) world out there, so the best strategy is to kick ass now, deal with consequences later. Ruben can be retrieved from Hell for redemption later, the other Ratgrinders can be redeemed after the world stops LITERALLY TEARING ITSELF APART.

I would love Ratgrinder redemption, more than anything - but that's something to do after the combat ends and the BBEG (Porter) is dead???

This is my take ofc, everyone is entitled to an opinion and I'd love to discuss it! Debating about writing and different media is one of my favourite activities to do :3

it just kind of drives me crazy that the themes of this season were about fighting rage/conquest, it was about saving gods/people from corruption, it was about breaking cycles of history..... and yet the finale so far has been so antithetical to that im just completely baffled. like the narrative dissonance of the bad kids defeating rage and war and conquest by.... slaughtering everyone in sight...... okay
