Reasoning for the Specific Flowers below the cut

Rafflesia, or stinking corpse lily, is a parasitic flower. A fleshy, usually foul-smelling apetalous flower, emerging from the host, with imbricated scales in place of leaves, and no stems. Rafflesias symbolize death and trickery. I felt it appropriate to associate this flower with Raph and his experience being Krangified. He was quite literally a host to an alien parasite, so it just makes sense.

Chrysanthemun I picked because it's the national flower of Japan, which, of course, related to Raph's Japanese heritage. However, I specifically chose white mums here because they are the color associated with funerals & mourning. Not because Raph actually died or anything, but there is a kind of mourning to be associated with his childhood post-movie, and the official end of his role as the leader. White mums can also be associated with loyalty, spirituality, and purity in other cultures, all of which you could easily relate to Raph as well. There's also five flowers, one for each member of his family.

Hopper's wearing jasmine perfume 💖 a favorite of her's (but it's also perfect for Halloween - because in Southeast Asia, we associate the smell of this flower at night with a signaling ghosts are nearby. Don't comment on the smell should you catch a whiff of it at night!!)

We know the world's largest flower is a parasite, we also know what the host plant is and how the pollination works, but we still have no idea how the seeds of Rafflesia arnoldii are dispersed, nor can we cultivate this species.

Say hello to Rafflesaur aurantia! It is named after its vibrant orange color, from a latin word for gold, aurum.

Indeed it is like gold, because it was found in fast disappearing lowland dipterocarp forests in northeastern Luzon - in the Sierra Madre. And it is threatened because of another precious item in these mountains: actual gold!

Researchers shared in a 2009 study about 𝘙. 𝘢𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢 that commercial open-pit mining “…Poses the gravest threat for this Rafflesia habitat.”
