Why you should commission me as a tarot reader specifically
I'm queer as hell, so therefore my interpretations will be queer as well
Same with being neurodivergent of only god knows what flavor
I say things in my interpretations like "not yet, Ferb"
I have many many lovely decks to choose from
srsly your reading may or may not read like an absolute shitpost depending on the vibe of our pre-reading chats
oh, did I mention you get pre-reading chats? So you're not just like going in blind? I will help you figure out a) what your question even actually is actually and 2) what spread is best for what you want to know
Vague-an (that's vaguely pagan) so I'll probably say things like "oh yeah big Aquarius energy there" but I won't say things like "divine feminine"
oh yeah also I dabble in astrology so i'll say things like "big aquarius energy there"
did I mention the neurodivergent and queer? this reading will not be normative in the slightest
dork ass nerd so you can commission spreads from me like the Tri-Force of Ways You're Awesome or a sakkri from the Kiesha'ra books
So yeah. Come check my ko-fi out. Even if its just to look at some pretty decks for a minute

If you don't start, you also will not do the story justice, because there is no story written to be considered. Only the passing dream of one.
That sounds cruel.
But don't use not writing as a way to avoid failing writing the story.
If you are not writing the story, you have still failed at writing the story.
The most frustrating experience as a writer is having a clear vision in your mind of the story you want to tell but being too afraid to put pen to paper for fear of failing to do the story justice. I’m so scared that my actual execution will fail to meet my expectations that I’m paralysed to even start.
#musings#on writing#fear of failure is understandable!#but if you don't write the story because you're afraid you won't do it justice#that's still not doing the story justice#that's not fear of failure#because in that sense by not writing you've already failed#that's getting in your own way#(admittedly this is different from understanding that your skillset for a story isn't quite there yet#then you're writing other stories to build up to be able to write the one#and even then you don't need to do that#jtv put it really well when it said maybe you write the same story over and over#but a lot of writers do that#and sometimes your ambition for a story is greater than your ability#but then as raevenly said - you get betas you revise and revise etc.#and sometimes it goes in a box for a while until you come back to it#but you have to actually /write the thing/)

Happy Storyteller Saturday! In keeping with October spookiness, I want to know: What would your characters SAY their worst nightmare is? Are they telling the truth? Or are they hiding a deeper, darker fear?
Hi raevenly, sorry it took so long to answer this. This one had me scratching my head a little bit since, while I know Selene and Meredith extremely well, this question made me look into them both a lot more deeply. Selene
I think Selene would say that her worst nightmare is watching Toreguarde fall into a pile of rubble all over again, which is still a legitimate nightmare for her in all honesty, so she's not lying necessarily... However, her deepest and darkest fear is being abandoned by everyone she cares about, or being the last one of her family left standing. It's not a fear that's particularly well-hidden though, because anyone who knows her even a little can tell that's what the underlying issue is, but she still tries to hide it anyway.
Meredith
Merri's a much more straightforward kind of person. She doesn't see much point in trying to hide her fears and nightmares (probably because her parents are so attentive, can tell when something's off and have enough experience to get her to spill whenever she tried to hide something that bothered her as a child). Her worst nightmare is having her society crumble out from under her all over again and never recovering from it. She's already seen the Horrors that are the Demon War and the schism that led into a wholesale Civil War that then led up to Ragnarok and she does not want to repeat any of it thankyouverymuch. The other worst nightmare is, obviously, losing her entire family, both biological and found, before their time (I say that last bit only because the found family is mostly made up of heritages that have much shorter lifespans than dwarves).
Thanks again for the question, and I hope things are well on your end.

Happy Storyteller Saturday! What's one aspect of writing that always puts a smile in your face?
hey, thanks for asking! the answer would be writing soft scenes. I don't know if that's what is meant by "aspect" but when i write soft and fluffy scenes i end up grinning so hard ejjddjdjdb

In Search of Asylum: Interlude, Dreams in the Desert pt1
INTERLUDE: DREAMS IN THE DESERT, PART 1
He scowled at the figured curled up on the sand before him. He couldn’t be mad at him, but he was still so full of anger and hurt, even after giving everything he had in the Whispering Dark. Why were the negative emotions always the first to return? Why couldn’t he recall his mother’s face, his cousin’s laughter, a kind word, a sunny day? It was always the things he tried to keep buried that rose to the surface first.
He sat down in the white sand, hurling a handful of sparks to call a fire into life before him. He watched the shadows play across his sleeping companion, wondering if he should wake him. He never rested, never slept, and something about watching the other man lay there made him want to shake him. He didn’t feel like himself at all. He was usually so much better at keeping his calm.
He turned his gaze to the waxing moon, days away from zenith. The desert always seemed so haunted beneath the silvery light, but it was preferable to the empty stretches of darkness left when il’li Dareiya turned her face away. Balance. Where was his balance? He searched the goddess’s face for answers, but she was as empty and silent as he.
He turned back to the crackling fire, willing the heat to seep into him, to chase away the chill from his bones. Funny, but he never seemed to feel the cold of the Whispering Dark before. Numb, yes, empty, yes, but never the cold. Could it be the hawk?

Happy Storyteller Saturday! :P What excites you about writing?
this is super vague answer but...
just the art of writing. the fact that i’m creating, and can show other people that all of this came from inside my brain!! you know how crazy that is? it’s just so fun and super satisfying once i finish that scene or that chapter. and it’s even better when i show people and they’re just as interested in it as i am. it’s awesome
now i just have to find friends who are interested in it owo

Bladesingers, you say? That sounds super rad tell me more!
Hi, happy wbw! Thanks for the ask!
So bladesingers are a type of ancient elven warrior which were almost entirely eradicated when Londori (elven homeland) was destroyed during the first dragon war. (The only surviving one was a elf named Thia Nailo, who survived merely by being late for a conference by two days. she has a pet panther. and an eagle).
They combine magic wizard shit with swords, and it looks really really cool when they do it.
And my brain has decided to discard every single thing I worldbuilt about this (which was serval things!) and I am too lazy to go look at my notes so that's all I have now but watch me reblog this later with all that info, save it in my drafts for two months, and then post it then.
WAIT!!!!!!!!!
Their signature color is a weird fiery orange-yellow. Its fun. And full bladesingers wear a sash with criscrossing bits, and appretices wear a sash without a second one crossing over the first.

Giving Advice Spread
Giving Advice Spread
For that moment when someone comes to you for advice, and you’re not sure how to proceed.
Shuffle, separate deck into four piles, one in the center and three around it forming a loose triangle. From each pile, draw one card for the querent. For extra insight for yourself, draw as many cards from the corresponding pile as you feel you need. Whether or not you share these cards with the querent is up to you.
Card 1, what is the root of the problem
Card 2, What do they need to hear
Card 3, What do they want to hear
Card 4, What are they receptive to hearing

Backlist Booze Book: Raev's Favs
I wanted to share some of my favorite slides, bc I worked really hard on this (much harder than a comic sans tumblr powerpoint is meant to be worked on lol)
I really loved playing with the transparencies on this one, overlaying several shots that felt kinda like the dreamy way Morgan gained some of her witchy powers
I love the silliness of this slide. Some of my favorite bits are mentioned here. It's such a perfect little snapshot of goofs
More overlay fun, putting the skull drink over the carkeys just turned out *so good* (much better than the book lol)
I wanted to show this one off without the text box in the way. Again, so much better than the book it represents XD
Honorable mention to this one bc I'm in it :P I took *so many* photos for this, my only ep. it was a blast. 10/10 would guest again

Queuing up some of the older stuff for teh newer followers *waves* hi yall!
In Search of Asylum: Interlude, Dreams in the Desert pt 3
INTERLUDE: DREAMS IN THE DESERT, PART 3
There was always fire burning in the big pit in the middle of the rei’sumae, no matter how hot it was outside. Even if it was a simple bed of coals, buried under a fine layer of ash, the fire was never allowed to completely burn out.
He sat before the pit, little face screwed up in concentration. He could feel the fire beneath the ashes, but he had no idea how to call it. It was fire. It didn’t listen. It didn’t come bounding gleefully into the room when you whistled, didn’t alight on an arm held out to the sky, didn’t beg for fish scraps when it followed you to the river. It was fire.
And yet, his mother said this was his lesson for the day. Call the fire. She sat at the far end of the long room, calmly working at her loom, seeming to ignore him. He knew better—den’Shelena saw everything. Like the great eye of Dareiya herself, mother’s namesake, the moon saw day and night alike, in darkness and light. Nothing was hidden from her.
But the fire remained hidden from him. He wanted to cry. Wanted to yell at the fire, to kick and rage and command it to rise, as he’d learned to command his scales. Was that the trick to it? Did he need to touch his serpent self?
