Both Lachlan and Rachel were unaware that Sarah was standing right next to them, and heard their entire conversation...

SARAH- “Uh... New girl...excuse me, but didn’t you come with my brother?  Why are you talking to my boyfriend?”

RACHEL- “The name is Rachel, and from what he just told me, you are NOT his girlfriend, but an OLD friend...and yes I am here with your brother, because he was kind enough to ask the new girl to the dance, but that is all...”

SARAH- “Okay, so he may not be boyfriend, but he IS MY DATE tonight, so keep your claws retracted, and stay away from him...or I will...”

RACHEL- “What?  What will you do? The only one with their claws out tonight are you, Trust me I have no qualms about laying you out right here on this dance floor in your $20 dress...”

SARAH- “For your information, this dress was $1500!!’

RACHEL- “Well that was about 1480$ overpriced.”

SARAH- “It beats your 1970′s hand me down from your grandmother!!!”

LACHLAN- “WHOA!!  Sarah come sit down....”

A few months have passed and Nico hasn’t seen Kip around, so hopefully he took the hint to stay away (Not likely).  Nico also had decided to not pursue witchcraft, or working on his gifts, at least not until after high school.  He wants to pursue his music and enjoy what he missed out on living back in Ohio, and just be a kid!

Tonight is the school dance that everyone has been talking about for months...

Sarah’s date for the night is Lachlan Goth...her dream date, as she calls him. Louis invited a new girl in the neighborhood, Rachel Hughes, she is a year older, but Louis is smitten by her.  And of course, Nico and Lennon are going together, and to their surprise, they BOTH were nominated to be on the Homecoming Court.

This is what Nico wants...to just be normal.

AVA- “Kids!!  Hold still I want to get a picture!!”

Everyone goes out on the dance floor and dances, well except for Rachel. Louis is still trying to persuade her to come and dance with him.

Lachlan and Sarah are on complete different sides of the dance floor.  And Lennon and Nico decide to use the dance floor to make out.

Oh being a teenager!!!

RACHEL- “Your sister is psycho!!  Did you hear her attack me out there??”

LOUIS- “Well, you did hit on her date.”

RACHEL- OMG!!  I wasn’t hitting on anyone. I was introducing myself.  Forget it.  I am outta here!!

LOUIS- “Thanks for bailing on me. See ya around Rachel...(to himself- Now I know why Nico dates guys!)

As they made their way off the dance floor, Rachel bumped into Lachlan...

RACHEL- “Oh, sorry excuse me...”

LACHLAN- “It’s fine..no problem.  I wasn’t watching were I was going, I was watching you.”

RACHEL- “Really?  That is ironic, as I have been watching you all night.  So your girlfriend there is pretty lucky...”

LACHLAN- “Oh...that’s just Sarah, she is not my girlfriend. Just old family friends.”

RACHEL- “So you are...available then?”

LACHLAN- “I am available for almost anything....”

LOUIS- “Thank you accepting my invitation to the dance, Rachel.  You look quite stunning tonight.”

RACHEL- “Oh, how sweet of you to say so, Louis.  We match...”

LOUIS- “Yes, that is why I asked what color your dress was.  Mother said it is customary for dates to match one another.”

RACHEL- “So, this is your first school dance, I take it?”

LOUIS- “Yes. But so far, I am not really impressed, no one seems to be dancing.”

RACHEL- “No one dances at school dances...it’s all about who looks better than who, and making out.  So who is your sister dating?”

LOUIS- “Oh, they are not dating...Sarah wishes they were, but that is Lachlan Goth.  We have known him and his brother since we were little.”

RACHEL- “And you brother dates his brother?”

LOUIS- “Yeah, they started dating like the first day of school.”

RACHEL- “They really look good together.  So this Lachlan is single?”

LOUIS- “As far as I know, yeah.  Look, everyone is going out on the dance floor we should go.”

RACHEL- “Oh...I really don’t like dancing...”

A work of quiet beauty...this is the now disbanded Portal, with their debut album 'Reprise', released on the Roisin Recordings label in 1999. A label who's rather dubious activities, to say the least, led to Scott Sinfield setting up his own label, MakeMineMusic, along with Jon Attwood of Yellow6 fame, in 2001. MMM itself has now ceased operations, as of 2011. Scott now records under the name Ringinglow.
