Thoughts: This was the okayest book to end the year on. I was looking for something celebratory, and while it isn't a New Years Eve party, a last senior year dinner party worked well enough. This has a lot in common with Cohn and Levithan's other novels in featuring pretentious teenage main characters and New York City, although given the novel takes place in one apartment building, NYC is less a character of its own than usual. The plot feels as uncertain of itself as the characters, and I'm not sure if that's intentionally meta or just slightly messy plotting. The party is all over the place, as parties are, and it's essentially a lot of drunken teenagers acting like drunken teenagers to no particular purpose.

Ilsa is a watered down version of Naomi from Naomi and Ely's No Kiss List. Her primary description is bitch, while Sam's seems to be anxiety. Much as I appreciate the representation and agree with the need for it, I find it very difficult to read about anxious characters as an anxious person myself. Their anxiety spirals trigger my anxiety, and it was almost painful to read some of Sam's sections. The romances are fine but not especially memorable, but on the plus side, there's plenty of queer representation to go around. It's not a very plot-centric novel, its primary focus on character development/coming of age/moving on from high school to the future, but since I didn't especially connect with the characters, it was ultimately underwhelming. I probably would have enjoyed it more as an actual teenager.

Here's some additional moments that I personally will hunt down Ron for for not including, in no real order :

1) This perfect moment made even more perfect:

2) Hawk wanting Tim as purely and honestly as he wants him, right from the start:

3) This incredible moment between Hawk and Marcus when they first visit the cozy corner (I love them your honour 💖)

4) Later that same night at the Cozy corner. I'm conflicted about this moment. But ultimately I think it was removed because it would serve no other purpose other than making Hawk seem like an even bigger asshole than he was. But I wanted more Hawk x Marcus.

5) In the show Hawk shows up with a radio but him showing up with milk would have been INSANE 😭 (and sooooo cute)

6) And last but DEFINITELY not the least, this moment which I truly cannot forgive omitting. I don't even understand why they didn't include it, it's such an incredible moment. Hawk publicly shades Roy and Schine.

I need help finding a fic that I've read before!

It's based on the show Dash and Lily, Sirius is a Christmas hater and Remus loves the holidays. Remus leaves a notebook in a bookstore and Sirius finds it and reads it. They do challenges for each other, Sirius sings River by Joni Mitchell and has to dress as a reindeer for a race.

I might be able to remember more but that's the basic details of it. I want to say I found it on this page but I can't fully remember! Please help!
