Not me lying in bed trying to sleep before work yet my brain is just like:
“Remember in Raceworld where Goofy and Gyro teamed up together, and they made what was probably the best duo ever??
Throughout the story, Goofy says they have to fight back with kindness, and that’s such a good theme for them. In both their universes, Gyro and Goofy are the sweetest characters anyone can meet. Sure they have their flaws, but they strive to help others. Not only that, but they’re both hesitant to fight. Yeah, Gyro gets aggressive in the story, but that’s normally not him. In actuality, these two dummies try NOT to fight anyone, unless if that’s their last option.
They literally made the best duo ever, they put the two tall, same clothes wearing characters together and it was a perfect match, yet no one speaks about them THIS IS A CRIME—“
#gyro gearloose#goofy goof#brain please I have work in a few hours you CANNOT do this to me#maybe one day I’ll break down their dynamic in raceworld when I have the time FFDDF#and who knows maybe I’m fucking incoherent but heCK they deserve some love

For a long time, it used to be my favourite of the many extra publications under the Lustiges Taschenbuch (LTB) banner, and I would buy every issue. It introduced me to so many great series which were only partially published in German before (and before I noticed their existence), like PKNA and X-Mickey, or not at all, like MMMM. The Topolinia 20802 book is one of my favourite Disney books ever, as is the Darkenblot one. And I think it's great that something which started as an experiment, with no guarantee of continuation and originally just two books a year, became so successful.
However, the success has a drawback. At this point, the editors are starting to run out of ideas of what they can run in the books aside from Duck Avenger. There used to be another series called LTB präsentiert which housed the "Adventures from Scrooge's Treasure Chest" and "Once Upon a Time in America", but that was evidently not as successful, so series which were earmarked for that (the De Tops chronicles and Scrooge's Millions) ended up in the Premium instead, which doesn't really fit the vibe or size of the Premium.
Issue #40 simply reprinting Arizona Goof stories was where I stopped being a completist. I like those stories but I have them all already and there's not even a new colouring to keep me interested, and that's simply not enough for €12.
Also, while I'm very sad that the Dutch Premium ended in the middle of Pikappa and skipped X-Mickey, in some respects they had improved on the German formula. They included cover artwork between stories - something the German editors only managed once, in the book that couples Raceworld and Planet T - and respected the order of stories for PKNA. Not just by always alternating long and short stories, but also by keeping the framing story intact for the summer specials (I think). They even changed the order of the last few PKNA chapters to a more sensible order, as they were probably meant to be read in (otherwise you have time travel in two stories after time travel doesn't work anymore and PK referring to a voyage to the moon he will undertake that hasn't happened yet).
What I also don't get is why in the last years, we only got one PK book per year despite four books being available. This sort of defeats the point of releasing them every three months and makes it harder and harder to come up with other material to put in there, because there's still a lot of PK stuff left.
Premium Plus was a slightly awkwardly titled, but interesting series that has been replaced with the identically formatted Young Comics for all those DPW comics, apparently at the request of Disney. But it definitely feels very different compared to a lot of the classic "Premium" material.
I'm utterly glad the Premium exists and I wouldn't want to part with most of the issues. But we don't really have the collector's editions like Definitive Collection, Disney De Luxe, Legendary Collection (no Italian material really ever got that kind of love from Egmont), so these books are the only way for us to read a lot of this material, and then it's often annoying to see names change from one book to the next, missing artists or swapped speech bubbles. And of course the page number is an inflexible factor, which led to the X-Mickey finale being printed at the beginning of a book and a few short stories being missed. So it's not perfect by any means.
However, having concluded the adventure of Powerduck - The galactic adventures of Fantomiald (FR), my new foreign publication to envy is the Lustiges Taschenbuch Premium.
Look for it on Inducks, in my opinion it deserves it. A bit of a Big that hosts sagas (generally with a modern twist: Pk, MMMM, X-Mickey, Darkwing Duck, Darkenblot, Fantomallard, Topolinia 20802, Fantomallard, Area 15, etc.). Volumes with a number of pages varying between 370 and 388 for a price of €12 (previously it was 10).
From what I can understand they also have a response from the public, so much so that they have gone from semi-annual to quarterly publications. And there is also a parallel series that hosts global productions (such as Young Donald Duck, Spookyzone, Wacky Knight, etc.).
It also has versions in the Netherlands (Donald Duck Premium, with a greater variability of pages) and in Finland/Norway, but in the latter countries the volumes are anthological, not monothematic and seem to have had less success (in fact they have concluded the publications).
In practice, the Premium is my idea of how the Big could become. But these are my far-fetched ideas, the Big sells as it is, so why change and divert promising material away from more expensive and, therefore, more profitable formats?
(Yes, without the new PK in my hands I'll throw myself into Fantaeditoria)
...

What is Raceworld (the Ducktales comic) about? Is there a translation of it somewhere that is accessible? It looks really cool and I can’t find anything about it other than a couple panels.
Raceworld's a special edition story where all the Duckverse characters plus Mickey and friends work together to win a race on a kinda intergalactic level because of space overlords and stuff.
It has sweet moments and art and I personally love the cinematic kind of color grading look they were going for!
I don't know if there's an English version of it, so if anyone knows kindly provide a link!<3

Hi! About Mickey and Donald in the comics, I don't know if it will be related, but I knew that before there was a rule that said that a character could not be repeated in more than one story within the same issue, I understand that that's why Gyro was there for a while separated from the ducks, since he was already starring in a comic, he couldn't be with the ducks in another and that's why instead of the triplets meeting Gyro, those who were with him were Mickey's nephews 🤔 maybe that's why Mickey and Donald live since I think always in different cities and only get together for long or special stories (like Seoul 1988 or Horrifikland or Raceworld or in some parodies like "Doctor Ratkill and Mister Hyde"). I don't feel this is helpful, but I hope it has served you for something xD 😅
I did supposed it would be because of something like that yeah :(
Donald always seems to have stories about him and his family while Mickey has stories of him and his friends, and they both live in different cities to create this difference. Unless it’s a Mickey, Donald and Goofy story, Donald is never featured hanging out with either Mickey or Goofy in any other story in the comics
I know it’s most likely like you said a rule to have two or three stories in the comics with different characters but man... I feel like separating Donald from the group of friends feels so wrong, I get there are a lot of duck characters he can interact with but I miss his relationship with Mickey and Goofy and whenever those two hang out and call each other best friends I constantly think ‘cool :) but where is Donald? :(‘
Also I know about those long special comics but they are impossible to find online unfortunately :(
But I feel like they are cowards, there should definitely be comics of Donald and Mickey hanging out together or Donald and Goofy hanging out together, those would be a lot of fun

another very specific comic request post!
so... i'm obsessed with both gladstone + historical/parody/time travel stories, but most of them come from outside the us, and the few exceptions seem to have been printed in extremely rare issues. i've found scans of a few of them, but from what i can tell the rest are only confined to inducks listings atm, and this is where i'm calling on u all!
if you have scans (translated or not, idc i just wanna see them in some form lol) of any of the following stories, please contact me! i will be eternally grateful. dms or submitting links, etc. is totally fine. thank you guys <3
list under the cut. story names and codes are from inducks, therefore some titles are in english and others aren’t- however i tried to organize them by code for ease of use! bolded entries are priorities. thanks again!:
