My Neighbor Doug on different locations in 'The Bad Batch'
So I did as was requested by my poll, and asked Doug what he called (and thought of) the various different places in which 'The Bad Batch' took place.
Need refreshers? Doug's interpretations of The Bad Batch: Main Characters
Doug's interpretations of The Bad Batch: Side Characters
Here we go:
--------------------------------------------------
Tipoca City: The Mall on the Ocean. You know it either smells really nice, clean and like fresh perfume, or it smells like ass and balls. It’s duty free, of course. Daddy Warcrimes totally plows the liquor section when Ryan-from-Accounting won’t stop annoying him and Daddy Rambo sprays on the sample Sauvage cologne to get the ladies.
("I thought he was married?"
"He need the reassurance. Y'all know guys like him.")
Onderon: Damn-It-Jared’s Trailer Park. It’s where he and his goofy-assed hippie friends fire weapons and drop acid and scare the wildlife. It’s like Oregon, but stupid. Just like Damn-It-Jared. And Daddy Warcrimes comes down and murders civilians, because the man craves police brutality the way I crave a drink after watching the Saints lose.
Saleucami: Tremor-Land. Look at this place and tell me you ain’t expecting giant worms and Kevin Bacon to pop out of nowhere. Also, Not-Wolverine’s wife gives me Reba McEntire vibes, trust me. They seem like a fun couple, I’d love to drink beer and shoot guns with them on a Sunday.
(Cut and Suu = Not Wolverine and Not Wolverine's wife)
Pantora: Not-Quite-Austin. Its where young hot people go to get drunk, get into street fights and then leave. You know, where That Chick That’s in Everything gets into a motorcycle race with Daddy Rambo and then they look for the Gun Safety Muppet and Little Orphan Blondie is lost and I guess they sell Toaster Strudel at one point to the three eyed goat for cash?*
Meat Muffin, what in the hell did I just write?
Corellia: Where-Anakin-Lost-His-Legs and Jorge’s Unemployed Sisters are collecting scrap metal for cash.
(“This is not where Anakin lost his legs!”
“How do you know?”
“ I watched Episode III?! Did you?”
“Eh, they’ll update it, just watch.”)
(FYI, I wish Trace Martez and Tech had more scenes together. They would have been a cute nerdy couple)
Bracca: Planet Dump. Seriously, there’s a planet devoted to garbage. Is it New Jersey? It’s just creepy people floating around trash? Man, it’s like Thor Ragnorok, but sad. Think Valkyrie would show up at some point? Julio had a headache here and strangled someone, I get it, migraines ain’t fun.
Ord Mantell: Great Value Cyberpunk. Do humans even live here? Well, Houma BBQ bitch and her ugly clutch of mutant boyfriends do. Her bar totally looks like someone practices eye surgery in the back like in Minority Report.
Raxus: Space Country Club. Oh, this place nice and clean. I mean, dang, it looks like a gated community where everyone plays golf and is mean to their neighbors. I bet they have an amazing Christmas lights display but don’t allow ‘riff-raff’ to come in and bully anyone who doesn’t join their HOA. My sister’s in one outside of Miami, and it turned her into a bitch, trust me.
Daro: Not-Quite-Fort-Bliss. I don’t get this place. It’s where Manny’s hanging out with other army guys but they don’t like him, even though he’s a good soldier? What the hell, the Empire is run by mid-level corporate dumbasses who think their online MBA makes them a god.
::proceeds to go on a rant about MBA Rob, his nephew, and the clowns like them::
Safa Toma: Tank Girl’s Home. It’s like Tatooine but fun and crazy. It’s where the Rhino that Sells Used Buicks and his pet iguana live and force people to race in used car parts.**.
Pabu: Space Daytona. It’s nice, it’s pretty, but I kept thinking the Empire was going to nuke it at some point. Hey, Church Lady says it’s her home away from home…where’s her other home? New Orleans? Shit, that’s a thought.
Eriadu: Space New Hampshire. It’s foggy, got mountains, and filled with angry old white people who can’t seem to retire. You know Tarkin totally screams at waiters and lives to make the poor check out girls at Publix cry. Just like his bitchy daughter, Stepsister Beth.
(Doug now headcanons that Tarkin is Emerie’s dad…which makes zero sense, but whatever.)
Ryloth: Space Arizona. Everything seems rich and nice and the women are vaguely hot, cool canyons and mountains and whatnot. But then dig a little bit and everyone’s rat-in-a-shithouse insane and there’s guns everywhere. I like Hera and her daddy, he’s cool. Like him riding his space motorcycle and flinging that spear at folks, more of him please.
Weyland: Spooky Lab Land. It’s where Stepsister Beth and Ryan-from-Accounting have family reunions with her asshole dad, his bitch wife Laura, and the gang. They’re into science and not making eye contact with anyone because there’s shit in the lava lamps that might be humans.
Serrano: Space Coeur d’Alene. It’s got pine trees and mountains, real pretty, but it’s easy to fling trash and bodies everywhere and every other person is Doomsday prepping. You ever been to Idaho? Real pretty, but real off, ya know?
*= I was struggling to breath after this. What in 'The Witch' was he thinking?!
**= Millegi and his racer. I had to stop texting Doug for a bit at this point, I was cry-laughing so hard I couldn’t see.

RACE TO GOAT MOUNTAIN SPOILERS
Lowkey for years wated a Bighorn sheep episode
They have returned...
Are the WK gonna play fair this time? ( mostly? But they do destroy Paisly Paver's machines during the race which I don't think follows the rules or not.)
Does this imply that the Wolverine episode takes place after this episode (would make sense as both are race episodes)
Aw the're being the commentators :)
I love this drawing for so many reasons.
Hard to tell but they sort of brought back some season 1 expressions like the scared bags under eyes expression. ( I swear it's there)
Baby Mountain Goat :D (at least one of my predictions came true)
I have no words...

MAJOR SPOILERS FOR “RACE TO GOAT MOUNTAIN”
So uh, awhile back I watched the new episodes of wk and they were good...
except for one thing THE FUCKING MOUNTAIN GOAT CPS, I MEAN HOW COULD MY MASSACRE MY TOP FAV ANIMAL
This couldn't go unchecked, something had to be done.
So I dropped everything, made a problem diagnostic of the og design, and redid it!
Took massive inspo from longhorn and gazelle cps designs and also just, made it not look too much like a green fucking goat
#wild kratts season 7#wild kratts#redesign#chris kratt#how the FUCK were the Bighorn Sheep and Mountain Goat CPS featured in the same episode???#THEY LOOK LIKE THEY WERE DESIGNED COMPLETELY SEPERATELY#Luckily the episode wasn't all bad and I enjoyed it quite a bit actually#Im just happy to see Paisley get more screentime#That girlfailure deserves it#ang5t art

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 💗
So I wasn't going to do this because I don't even have five fics posted yet, but then I decided you know what? Fucking goals, man. So here's the two I've got and the (top) three that I'm working on that should see the light of day this year:
The Man From U.N.C.L.E. fic - Did you like the 2015 Man From UNCLE movie? Did you walk out of that theater going 'what a wild romp? I sure hope it gets a sequel.'
Well we're never getting a sequel, but here's a lovely OT3 fic that I was lucky enough to co-write with the very talented @thischapstickaddict (the bestie with the best outlines). She brings the romance, I bring the punchy action scenes, and together we crafted enough dramatic backstory to hopefully satisfy the 100 other people online who were obsessed with this movie in 2015.
The Garrison Reserve (aka the BBC's Musketeers Cooking AU fic) - Speaking of older fandoms. Are you hungry? Would you like to be hungry? Come be hungry what started as a crack idea but slowly became a thinly veiled excuse for me to talk about food for 64k words and make my case for why D'Artagnan is a manic pixie Florida man (until depression and life circumstances dragged me to a crushing halt at chapter 4/5 with half of chapter 5 written and never posted) (ngl I miss this fic and now that i've got brain waves again it's back on the menu) (as soon as i relearn every side character's name again it's back on the menu) (we also did, in fact, write a real menu for this. those are real recipes)
NOW ONTO THE NEW STUFF BABY!!!!!!!
[Redacted Title] Post Season Three Fic - MY TRIUMPHANT RETURN. It's gonna have all the hits for me: food! crying! backstories for people who didn't get backstories! food as a love language! shameless nerd culture quotes that no one but me will notice! shenanigans! fun group scenes with multiple people talking and being friends! friends who are your family now! If you, a blessed Ted Lasso fan reading this post have somehow stuck it out this far here's your reward - I'm feeling really good about the progress, and I maybe might don't want to jinx it but I might be able to start posting. Soon. Soonish. Like within the month. Previously aforementioned bestie has been getting snippets and I am tentatively excited that it will be up to snuff. This is good news that only you, the patient one who's read this far, now know. Yay for you!
Pavlov's Dog (the Jamie falling asleep 5+1 I've mentioned) - it is going to be a race to see if this one beats [Redacted Title] to the light of day. This one takes an episode coda / deleted scene approach and its fueled by punk and sadness and rage (so mainly The Wonder Years songs with the occasional Mountain Goats lyric thrown in). I was actually making really really good progress on it and then Mom City happened and [Redacted Title] was born.
Now I've got a handful more Ted Lasso fics half-started in the rafters, but the other fic that's likely to get posted this year, the one that I've been just dying to get out there, that one that i'm like a redbull and an ADHD fit away from posting even though no one but me has ever wanted it:
MY BATFAM / THE CONJURING AU - THAT'S RIGHT. ARE YOU A FAN OF BATMAN AND SPECIFICALLY HIS ADOPTED FAMILY? DID YOU LIKE THE MOVIE THE CONJURING? ARE YOU SCARED? WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE SCARED? IT'S SCARY. I WROTE A THING AND IT'S SCARY.
This is my mid-year resolution! These things I have written - people will see them!
#ya'll i am so sorry but I think it's time for you to know i am in fact like this. all the time#I'm not even gonna tag this with any fandoms#it feels too spammy#ask box#ask box is always open#if anyone has any questions about any of these#i will not give spoilers but i love to be elusive and meta and talk about the thinky thoughts that are going on#mild fic update - [redacted title] now at 54k which is not a lot of progress but is at the same time#as i begin to replace the notes that were part of the outline with actual writing - the notes eventually must disappear#I will update this post when I post I will update this post when I post I will update this post when I post

#wild kratts#pbs kids#kratt brothers#martin kratt#chris kratt#2d kratt brothers#2d martin kratt#2d chris kratt#all of them were good but had some issues#If I were to pick I'd probably go with Clever the Raven#Mainly because that episode's plot felt like it progressed the most naturally and felt more slice-of-life-ish#The info-dump on the ravens and the power suits were all really amazing to see and the part where the ravens just fuck with the villains wa#- hilarious#If it wasn't for the godawful Goat Suit that episode probably would've been my#overall it looks like we're in for a decent start to S7#With there being over 40 episodes ordered for the new season I'm hoping that they don't pull quantity over quality

So thoughts on the new episodes now that I'm back on the bandwagon:
Outfoxed: It was okay. Not my favorite, but it's fine. I LOVED seeing Koki being a nerd about foxes, it's adorable. Also, I think so far, her new VA is doing a fantastic job. It's different from Heather Bambrick, but similar enough to not be jarring and letting the VA do her own take. Also, Gourmand has a dog now? Ugh... can someone call the Humane Society, please? Anyways, pretty standard episode. Not great, but not awful either, and hey foxes!
Clever the Raven: This one was better. It felt like the characters got to do a bit more and thus have more fun character moments. It looks like they're doing more common/North American animals at least so far, which since this was in production during COVID, I guess that's all they could do. Which is fine, there's a lot they haven't done yet that I'm actually surprised they held back on. Also, all the villains (aside from Paisley) just being around for no real reason (not even doing anything evil, just there) and Clever annoying them was the best haha~! I actually learned a good bit about ravens that I didn't know, like their ability to mimic sounds. Overall this was a fun one~
Race To Goat Mountain: This one was pure fun! Since Paisley's intro she's honestly been super underutelized, only having I think two solo appearances and the rest with the others. Which is a bummer because it's meant she's lacked a lot of the personality that the other villains had, so this one REALLY helped make up for a lot. Seeing more interactions with the Bros and Paisley was sorely needed. But yeah, this was so fun~! I laughed so much. From Martin's issues with the Bighorn Sheep suit to the crew acting as commentators to Martin being a total drama queen when he's stuck (seriously, Martin is a riot in this one XD). It's a fun ride from start to finish~!
Owl Odyssey: So due to an accident, the Bros and the girls get rocketed to a faraway land, a LOOONG ways away from the Tortuga and without any gear/equipment/discs aside form the Miniturizer. Jimmy doesn't get included which is a bummer, but I guess someone needs to keep the Tortuga safe haha. This was another really fun one! From the girls annoying Martin to poor Jimmy getitng run out of the Tortuga to the girls thinking that the Bros have gone insane... y'know, more than usual. God there's SO may funny moments XD. I won't spoil too much, but there's also a bit of bro feels and that is an easy way to make a good episode a top-tier one!Not to mention all the owls! They've done some specific ones before, like snowy owls and desert owls, but this one is more broad with a whole variety in different continents. This was a really fun odyssey, loved it~!
So I'd say that Owl Odyssey is the best one for being hilarious, adventurous, interesting, and even a little feelsy while still having a good creature lesson. Then Race to Goat Mountain, then Clever the Raven, and Outfoxed at the bottom since I thought it was the most boring unfortunately. But hey it still did its job of teaching the kids, all four of them did. Which if we have more episodes like the last two in store, this is gonna be a fun season~!

<3 thanks for your responses! congratulations and best wishes to alexis, and belated congratulations to isaac - mazel tov and many happy returns all.
fun to hear about the jingle composition process - i like the idea that there are a few wizles "traditionals" that can be summoned up when needed. reminds me of this mountain goats lyric:
"this is a song with the same four chords i use most of the time when i've got something on my mind / and i don't want to squander the moment trying to come up with a better way to say what i want to say"
(that is, D - A - Em - G)
happy to say i have already followed alexis' advice to have a fiancee that's really into wedding planning, haha. our families also don't have a strong or rigid culture around weddings so they've mostly left us to our own devices here, which is a bit of a relief, as we've had many friends who really did not have that experience. above all we're looking forward to many of the things you mentioned as far as benefits go - shared insurance, hospital visitation, and a reminder that we are connected to a chosen network of friends and family.
thanks also for bestowing one of life's true pleasures on me - to be told by a q&a forum host that a question i submitted (the one about cosmic wheel sisterhood) was apt. i very much agree that many of the witches of CWS feel more like wizards in the way they consolidate and pursue knowledge and power, and how much siloing and hierarchy there is even within the coven - it feels like a fortuitous confluence that i discovered the podcast so soon after playing that game.
lastly, i enjoyed the brief dungeon meshi convo - i couldn't agree more about kui's exploration of anthropological themes throughout the story (and even moreso in the daydream hours and adventurer's bible). i always think about this post talking about how explicit she makes it that even in fantasy, race science is arbitrarily, intentionally constructed and justified on a societal level.
anyway, thanks again for answering my questions and making the show! looking forward to the next iteration of this episode - please continue to indulge and natter.
More self-indulgent fun. Thank you all for sending us questions and listening to us natter.

Since the official Season 7 announcement was just released...
Things I want to see in the 7th Season of Wild Kratts (based on the information we have so far) Race to Goat Mountain edition
For the episode Race to Goat Mountain there are a few things I would like to see.
I want there to be a sort of serious tone (think of how Flight of the Draco or Platypus Cafe was written where even though there were funny moments, the steaks are high and you could feel the intensity of the situation)
Maybe a small training montage.... ( it's a bit cliché but it would be cool to fit in a Rocky reference)
Martin being worried for Chris' safety after Chris almost passes out from altitude sickness or if Chris almost falls, but even though he's worried sick he still (in a positive way) motivates Chris to keep going or if Chris is too unwell, Martin takes his place to finish the race using both the Mountain Goat Powers and Older sibling Rage to win the race.
Baby Mountain Goat!!!
