I shared my umbrella with a girl yesterday. The sky began to open as we walked out the gates. She told me she usually has one. I told her not to worry. We talked about meaningless things. The weather, the school, how exams were treating her. If this had been a year ago, I would have slipped over my words. All I did then was pine from a distance and pray by some small miracle that she would be mine. But that was a long time ago. I hardly recognise what I used to be. As we walked, she peaked her head out from under the brim;

‘Thank god rain is ending’.  

Now all I can think is that it’s funny is the way things turn out, isn’t it?
