the leaked mrbeast production doc kills me because like, for better or worse, this guy clearly has his shit down to a science. he knows exactly what game he's playing and he knows how to play to win. the actual doc is structured well, communicates its ideas clearly, but also was thrown together by a youtube guy who paid no attention to visual formatting or proofreading. and yet as much as I hate to say it, stuff like this is actually great and widely applicable advice:
What you consume on social media, when you watch youtube, tv, the games you play, etc. are what I like to call your information diet. Chris Tyson (our first subscriber and the guy in the videos) is a wonderful example of an information diet being used to perfection. The dude is funny as fuck. I’ve never met anyone in my entire life that can make people laugh like he can and I never understood why he was so good at it until I lived with him for a few years. The dude watches an obscene amount of cartoons and stupid shit. His eyeballs exsist to inhail copious amounts of just goofy, dumb, and brain numbing content. And as a result he can quote almost any line from any episode of spongebob. He’s able to draw from so much stupid shit in his head as inspiration to make jokes and be quirky. As a result he is fucken hilarious. But let’s imagine a different Chris, let’s say instead of cartoons and stupid shit, his information diet was stocks and investing advice. And for 5 years that’s all he consumed. Do you think he’d be just as funny as he currently is? No. He in my opinion wouldn’t even be 20% as funny. If you’re a writer or director you really need to monitor and perfect your information diet. If your diet is not correct, you won’t have a good pulse on culture. I don’t want you to be a chris, in fact, I think that would probably do you harm. Talent needs to inhale cartoons so they can be funny, writers need to inhale inspiration. Let’s say there is a purple fruit in the middle of Australia that when eaten makes you 2 feet taller. If it truly did exist, you wouldn’t have known that until just right now. But now that you know of it, you can draw on it for inspiration for every piece of content you write going forward. That’s beautiful, it can now sit in the back of your mind waiting for that one video where it is needed. It might take 10 videos or even 100 but eventually you’ll be brainstorming a bit and think of the right one to use the fruit for. Apply this to everything on this fucken planet. You. Can’t. Get. Inspired. By. Things. You. Don’t. Know. Exist. So how do you learn more about what's out there in the world? How do you stay up to date on the latest memes? How do you know what’s going on with celebrities? What’s trending on youtube? What other creators are doing? What’s popping on tik tok? Your information diet. Consume things on a daily basis that help you write better content.

Flower Shop
Richie Jerimovich x F!Reader
For @the-slumberparty's Bingo Challenge! Bingo square: Flower Shop A/N: This is NOT the same reader as my other Richie fics. I've decided to compile those fics into their own multichap because I've gotten some Bear fic ideas outside of that little universe I've created. ALSO, huge shout out to @kind-wolf for this idea!!!! Seriously sparked so much inspiration, thank you x 10000000 I hope you enjoy :) Warnings: Cursing, arguing, light angst, mentions of harassment, and someone being drunk and disorderly.

“We’re across from that stupid fuckin’ flower shop.” Richie spoke into the phone. “Yes, that one.” He was staring out the window at the shop he mentioned, annoyance growing as he stared out. “No, I don’t know if they’ve got white roses, look, will you just tell me when my meat delivery is gonna be here, I gotta fuckin’ feed people.” Richie had slammed his hand down on the table like the person on the other line could see his frustration. Before the conversion continued, Richie saw movement where he was staring across the street. “I gotta go, just deliver the fuckin’ meat.”
As you stepped outside of your flower shop, dragging to large potted plants to sit alongside the front door, you heard the familiar bell of the shop across the street. At first the noise went unnoticed, the first few weeks it was just part of the Chicago hustle and bustle but two months in, you began to notice it because it usually meant that someone was about to start yelling at you.
“I thought I told you that putting that shit out on the street causes distractions and traffic!” The man yelled out to you.
Right on schedule was the thought in your head as you huffed and stood up to yell back.
“I thought I told you to mind your fuckin’ business, beef boy!” You usually had discourse like this on a daily basis but between the early start you had and the exhaustion from pulling these plants out of the back storage room, you were a little more rowdy today.
“Beef boy?” He scoffed. “Stop blocking the sidewalk, you–you–flower fuck!” He tripped up on what to call you there and it made you smile.
“T-t-t- today, Junior!” You mocked him back.
“Are you making fun of me by quoting Billy fucking Madison?!”
The cars of traffic were moving on the roads in front of you, the audacity they had interrupting your heated discussion. But nonetheless, you weren’t going to let it stop you from going back and forth.
“Why are you such a fuckin’ jagoff?!” You called back out at him.
The comment made the slightest smirk grow on Richie’s face, you were too far to notice it which he was grateful for but hearing the word that he called people so often out of someone else’s mouth was amusing.
“I don’t know, why don’t you look in the mirror and tell me why you’re such a jagoff!” He lifted his hand up and pointed his finger, throwing it at you as he spoke.
“Wow.” You started clapping. “Great comeback, what are we 10? I know you are what am I?” You called out in a immature tone.
“I’m gonna go back inside and work because some of us put our blood sweat and tears into our jobs, while other people sit up on their bouqueted pedestals and fuck over us hard workers!”
You had no idea what he was saying, what he meant by it but that was also a pretty normal and everyday occurrence so you didn’t think twice about it and just yelled out before going back inside your flower shop.
“Go fuck yourself, beef boy!”
These things happened pretty often, not everyday but often enough that your comebacks got funnier, they got more detailed, more pointed, on both sides. When you went out to water the plants on display in front of the store and Richie went out for a smoke break you yelled across at each other. When you both were at the window looking at the rain clouds forming or the rain drops falling, you’d throw middle fingers up and mouth profanities at each other. When you’d stay late and look across the street to see Richie there at the restaurant late, you’d stare at each other, give mean looks and turn the lights off to work in the back offices at your shop.
It was strangely something enjoyable, for both of you. It was a way to get out so much frustration and build up tension that had accrued in the days. It wasn’t healthy, and you knew that but you weren’t exactly looking for the textbook solution to your problems these days.
As you stood outside, past closing time, sweeping up the dead leaves and fallen petals from the day, Richie was out for what was likely his 5th smoke break of the day. It was late, and you both tended to keep it down when curfew hours hit, out of respect for the block, not each other. As you moved along your storefront, you heard a voice that wasn’t familiar.
“Yo, can I please get some flowers, my girl’s mad at me and I need something to bring home.” The voice was slurred, the person sounded drunk. You looked up and saw the person who had stumbled up to your store.
“I can give you a mix of stuff for $10.” You weren’t in the mood to cause problems so you thought this would be a good compromise. A bouquet like that would normally be double so you thought this was the perfect meet in the middle deal.
“Nah, I don’t got any money. Just let me go in and grab something small, no biggie, alright?” The man started to push by and tried to get in the door that you had already locked.
“We’re closed, I can go grab something for you, and you can give me $10 for it, that’s it.” Your voice was firm as you stepped in front of the door.
“C’mon!” The guy whined.
“Alright, new plan. No flowers, and you get the fuck out of here.” There was no whine in your tone, you weren’t playing games which is why the push you gave the guy was more aggressive than your initial block.
While the push worked to get him away from the door, the man didn’t leave.
“Pretty sure she told you to get the fuck out of here.”
That sentence was said by someone else and it made both you and the man turn to look at where the hardened voice was coming from. You saw the man from across the street, now much closer on your side of the street, on your sidewalk. He looked different closer up, you could see the features of his face better, despite it being late at night you could see things that the space hid. The bags under his eyes, the roughness of his stubbled beard, the wrinkles in his forehead and eyes, he was worn, he had been through a lot, you could tell. You also could tell that he had been used to these type of run ins, or you so assumed as you looked at the gun in his hand that wasn’t being threatened yet, but was ready in the case it needed to be.
“But my flowers…” The man stumbled slightly as he spoke.
“They’re her flowers, not yours. Go home, get the fuck out of here.” Richie stepped forward, using his body to show force and slightly raising the gun to let the man know it was there.
And it worked. The man left, drunk and defeated, leaving you and Richie on the sidewalk in front of your shop.
“I had it handled.” The glare you had was still on the man walking away and when he got out of your view, you turned to the person still next to you.
“Most people just say thank you.” He scoffed as he put the gun in his back waistband.
“You have a history of showing up armed and ready to shoot someone?” You raised your eyebrow and leaned on the broom handle.
“No, I just–do you have to argue everything?” He was frustrated.
“I just assumed that was our thing.” Your shoulders shrugged so nonchalantly.
Richie let out a laugh and shook his head as he took a step off the curb and was now standing on the asphalt of the street, slowly making his way back over to the restaurant. “I’d buy yourself a piece, get yourself familiar with it, this block can get hot sometimes.”
“Who says I’m not familiar?” You called out to him with a smirk on your face.
“My mistake.” He lifted his hands up in surrender with a similar smirk to your own before turning around fully to step onto his side of the street.
“Hey, beef boy!” The humor in your voice was being held back by a thin thread as you smiled through your words.
Richie turned around, his hand on the door handle ready to enter back into the restaurant as he stared at you. For the first time ever, you weren’t going to yell profanities at eachother, give rude gestures or annoyed looked. For the first time you smiled at him and truly had no sarcastic attitude in what the next two words out of your mouth would be.
“Thank you!”

Toboso Yana on the creation process for Twisted Wonderland:
"For the main story, first I create a rough plot and submit it to Disney for approval.
After that, I discuss with the development team what elements we want to introduce per scene: ADV, rhythmics, battles, etc., and complete the scenario as a whole.
What I always keep in mind when writing scenarios is that the aim is not for it to be 'loved by everyone'.
Villains are not meant to be loved and cheered on by everyone.
They are villains: they were created to be hated.
That is why there is sometimes something attractive about them…
As long as villains are the basis for these characters, I think it is important that they never become overly good people.
Of course, there are limits.
And in cooperation of Disney we have been very particular about following storylines and quoting dialogue from the movies, so that people who have never seen the original films will want to see them for the first time, and those who have seen them will want to see them again.
The vignettes and event stories are technically spin-offs of the main story, but there are a lot more scenarios involved than are in the main story.
We try to delve deeper into the characters through their daily lives on campus and how they deal with the problems they face.
I think there are actually many players who look forward to these spinoffs more than they do to the main storyline.
That is why we want it to feel like the characters in each subplot are recalling living in the same world as the main story.
But how can we direct all these different stories in such a way that there is a sense of continuity? …this is an ongoing issue.
Vignettes, in particular, are often depicted not from the perspective of the player, but from the subjective viewpoint of the character in question, and the way the story is depicted varies depending on the relationships between them and other characters.
For example, B may be a black-hearted jerk from A's point of view, but from C's point of view, B may actually be competent, dependable and an overall good guy...
It is necessary to reconcile the two viewpoints on a case-by-case basis.
Currently, I can't think of any other way to uphold continuity besides reading through all of the stories and making changes when needed, again and again.
So that's what I do.
It is a daily process of trial and error.
Sometimes the relationship between characters changes completely in the main storyline, which will leave me scratching my head and wondering, 'When did that part happen?'.
However, I am sure that more and more events are going to be held in the future, so I am wondering if parallel and 'if' worlds are going to start appearing.
As for chats, we always try to make sure that involve a reference to the original work that inspired the character in question.
Since the Disney Villains are the 'Great Seven' in this world, it's a perfect topic for the characters to discuss after class.
We thought it would be great if people who like the villains could get excited along with the characters.
On the other hand, if you are not familiar with the movies being referenced, I hope it might feel as if the characters are teaching you."

2, 4, 14, 35 for YOU GUESSED IT! Reeve!!
Honestly, I was expecting something else from you. But I would never turn down my babygirl.
2: A canon or headcanon hill I will die on
Hmmm… what hill shall I chose to die on?
Well, this is going to sound boring, but I’m definitely standing with the “Reeve’s an Inspire” side of the hill. From what I have read and seen, it’s a really cool concept and a shame that it’s not utilized in the games. I mean, how cool is the power to breath live into inanimate objects?
And the way I see it, an inanimate object isn’t just limited to machines and robots, like Cait Sith. The definition of “inanimate” can encapsule so many things, the only thing stopping Reeve from inspiring something like a mug, is himself.
Honestly, I don’t think this man knows just what exactly he can do. Be it from a lack of knowing, or a fear of experimentation.
(I also like to think that there’s a connection between people with the inspire ability and the planet. It’s probably not like the connection the Cetras have, but it is kind of weird that someone would exist, who has a similar ability as to the lifestream. I mean, the lifestream is said to be able to bring new life, something that this middle-aged guy in a suit can do too, just not in that extent.)
4: Favourite line
This is a hard one, because I have little experience with Reeve outside Remake and Rebirth, and I haven’t gotten far in Dirge of Cerberus. But one quote that stuck out to me, even more than the one where Reeve talks about the Sector Seven plate crash, is this one from Dirge of Cerberus.
Reeve: “Let me ask you. Does the wind sound like a thousand wailing souls? Listen. Can you hear them? The cries?”
It’s hard to explain, at least for me, but the way Reeve says this, with a voice that might sound level-headed, but at the same time conveys so much fear. It struck me and made me wonder at the same time. How many hear the voices?
It is said that the people of Edge hear the voices, but it still makes me wonder.  Is there a difference between Reeve and other people.
Either way, it’s a cool line and I fucking love it for the vibes it brings.
14: Most heroic moment
Fucking damn it. As I already said, I only know Reeve from Rebirth, Remake and what little I have seen from Dirge of Cerberus, but if I had to pick the “most heroic moment” from the limited knowledge I have, I would have to go with the one, where Cait Sith sees the aftermath of the plate drop.
Yes, it’s not directly Reeve, but, it’s still him.
From what I know, Reeve sees the things he creates as his children, or, at least, they are similar viewed. Which means, sending Cait to Sector Seven was a deliberate act on Reeve’s part. Perhaps, he wanted to warn people, try to save as many people as he could, and or prevent the drop all together. He builds those things after all, and or knows the passwords to the support pillars.
As Cait, he could have done something, if the time wasn’t up. And so, I like to believe that that’s his most heroic moment. Even if he failed, and he did fail, what’s more heroic than trying to right a wrong, despite of what could happen to you.
I am also sure that, if Shinra would have caught Reeve meddling with their plans, our man could have had a fate worse than death. And he most like knew that, but still decided to send Cait out to act as a proxy.
And, by all means, that’s more heroic than blowing up reactors and killing thousands of innocent people. (There, I said it.)
35: Their idea of a perfect day
Honestly, I doubt that Reeve ever gets a perfect day.
This man attracts chaos and whatnot on a daily basis, while also having to deal with a plethora of people vying for his attention. There’s hardly any time for a “perfect” day.
And while I could say that, a perfect day for him would be one, where work’s just right and he doesn’t get bothered by anyone (be it during Shinra time or when he leads the WRO), I still like to think that a perfect day doesn’t involve work at all.
A perfect day for Reeve, as I see it, would involve him being at home. Tinkering with his next little invention, or just doing a silly thing. Like sowing Cait Sith some new clothes (that’s a headcanon of mine), or doing other tasks that keep his hands occupied, while he’s relaxing. Maybe he’s even reading a new book, but falling asleep halfway through, and getting some of that needed sleep back.
His perfect day could also involve deepening the friendships he made, by either visiting Tifa’s bar, or hanging out with Cid. I mean, you can’t just introduce two engineers and not stick them together in a room to tinker together and create new inventions. Like, I bet they tried to make a jet-bag once, only for Vincent to stop them.
But yeah. A perfect day is just a day where Reeve gets to do things he wants to do, while not worrying about work.

Hi love! A few of my mutuals have put these beautifully done matchups on my dash and I figured I'd give it a whirl! Especially since despite being here for a while I don't really talk to the community members that much!
I'm gonna try to do as many of the questions as possible so warning for the LONG ask! What song are you fixated on at the moment? What lyric or verse, and why? Keeping You Around - Nothing But Thieves, specifically the chorus! Your lips want anyone else / Mine taste like everyone else Oh, that's a tragedy / Try not to pity myself You fall back into yourself / Oh, what a mess we're in I've got more hope of killin' war / Or seein' sound, ah-ah Than I've got of keepin' you around / Of keepin' you around, of keepin' you around Honestly this song reminds me of pre-confession Gavin and that grey area of the Freelancer's relationship with everyone else at that point during the cost.
Do you love gargantuan Youtube video essays, and if so, which is your favorite and why? Yes!!!! I love watching them with my long-distance partner while we do parallel play and stuff on video call. We tend to cycle between Nexpo who does video game/internet horror long video essays (my ABSOLUTE favorite is his cinematic movie that retells the story of Ben Drowns called Ben Drowns Again) and Speedrunning videos like Summoning Salt or SmallAnt
If you had to change your name, what would it be, and why? (In tandem, if you have changed your name, why did you pick that one?) I have changed my name many times! I have ultimately landed on a new first and middle name! Damien Agro, both are in some part inspired by the channel however they mean more to me than the original inspiration. Damien is probably one of my highest kins (i say that like he's not in fact my highest kin) and also the name is the first one to really FEEL like me, especially after I re-labled as a transman instead of nonbinary
What is your favorite of Redacted’s audios, and why? Damien and Huxley's Solstice Comfort. It was the first time Damien really opened up about the Inversion to Huxley in a video as Damien and Huxley's after shocks took place on different days and Damien's was during Huxley's trip back home. I think it was a really important moment for the two of them and hearing it is a little to close to home sometimes.
What Redacted boy holds no appeal to you, and why? Like, not the one you hate but the one who you don’t get the hype for. (I won’t judge, I promise.) Sam, and I think its partially because I was there for his original introduction during the Bright Eyes series, in which he was not the person that Darlin' fell for. I know Erik had personal reasons for ending that series, but a part of me will always feel like it's because Darlin' would never had fallen for someone who said the things Sam had.
Tell me about that one book/movie/tv show you know all the words to. Clue (1985)!!! This movie has been my favorite ever since I was a little kid and I love it now. On days where I'm super overstimulated I really love going back to this movie cause it's familiar! My partner and I quote it on a daily basis
Which Redacted boy are you platonically attracted to? Like- forget dating, which dude do you want to be your best friend? I want to have the t-boy swag that Asher exudes and I want to be his best friend. We'd share transition tips and he can help me cut my hair.
Do you have a go-to thing you ramble about when you’re tired, and if so, what is it? (For example, my boyfriend knows I’m ready to sleep when I start talking about space.) PLANES PLANES ITS EITHER PLANES OR MARINE LIFE I WILL RAMBLE ABOUT SHARKS OR PLANES OR STINGRAYS OR ANYTHING OCEAN OR AIR RELATED
Tell me your go-to gas station and drink combo. Dr. Pepper (I quit energy drinks 2 WHOLE YEARS ago) or Cheerwine, and probably an Almond Joy or a mini Ice Cream
Tell me about your favorite playlist at the moment.  My Dasher playlist and my Damien and Huxley playlist ;w; those lil guys mean so much to me
What’s your guilty pleasure media, and why? Longplays with no commentary, I love video game ambience and I will just put on like a full playthrough of Five Nights at Freddy's just to hear the noises.
And whatever else you think tells me about who you are! I think I've told you a good amount that calls for more questions if you have them! But thank you so much for having this little game going! -Damien
Tumblr media
Ooh, an opportunity to pontificate about one of my favorite ships. I know we all love HuxDami, lord knows I do, but if I’ve got a Damien kinnie on my hands, I’ve got to let you know how sweet you’d be with Gavin.
First things first, we love a t4t couple. I think it’s super cute, and it can be so lovely to share a life with someone who has firsthand experience with what you’re going through. That said, I am so incredibly passionate about Gavin and his choosing of his own name and refusal to change how he looks to please anyone as a trans allegory. Thus, a gorgeous t4t couple who has all the transition tips for each other and would have the best thrift-shopping trips for the best fits. It can be so fun but also so harrowing to shop for clothes that feel gender-affirming while also looking good, and I think Gavin would be an absolute master of that, like having your own personal stylist who you also get to kiss.
Second things second, I think y’all could have a really cute, sweet, domestic life together. We get the idea that Gavin drifted a lot before he found a reason to settle into Dahlia, so I think there’s nothing he’d love more than staying home and binging Nexpo videos. I can imagine lots of chill, cozy nights in with him distracting you both while cooking, lazing about the couch in casual, unsexy underwear, him stealing your Cheerwine because he’d never tried it before he met you and he’s addicted to it now.
Song:
You're sitting on the chair/ Wrapped inside a bedsheet/ Playing with your hair/ Watching people on the high street/ If I wished myself a superpower/ I would make this moment last for hours/ If I had my will, time would just stand still/ Wait for me until I find some magic film/ To take a photograph and live inside
One, we love Cody Fry. What a darling. Two, I love how this encapsulated those cozy, loving, domestic nights that I was telling you about. A bittersweet three, this works especially well with Gavin or any of the other d(a)emons who know they won’t have forever with their human lives and would want this, want to preserve those moments as best as possible.
Runner-ups:
Camelopardalis would be a sweet runner-up, because I think he’d really like your vibes. I can see you infodumping about the ocean or watching your long gameplay videos being both relaxing but also fulfilling for him. Lasko, I love as a runner-up because his story also strikes me as a trans allegory and I think you could be a good influence in getting him to quit caffeine. Bless his heart, that boy does not need it.
note: again congratulations on yours and Pickle’s engagement 💕
Read this post and send me an ask if you’d like a match-up of your own! 💌

Book #106 - Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
(I technically had to read this for uni once, but since one could pass that course on summaries and short excerpts alone, I would still classify this as my first read.)
There is a quote from Walton's first letter that struck me upon reading it as… rather significant, let's say. Walton writes, about his upbringing and his future endeavor:
"[…] do I not deserve to accomplish some great purpose? My life might have been passed in ease and luxury, but I preferred glory to every enticement that wealth placed in my path."
There are many parallels between Walton and Victor - the book focusing mostly on the dangers of pursuing science beyond all reason and ethical concerns - but I find their upbringing a just as interesting and important one. They both grew up sheltered, cushioned by money and stable families, in abundant wealth and with an excessive amount of privilege.
Victor directly tells Walton that he grew up not having to worry about a single thing.
And yet that somehow wasn't enough for them. Somehow, living a life as comfortable as it is in any way possible was not enough. Both Victor and Walton wanted more. They wanted knowledge, power, glory. They wanted to conquer and subdue nature itself, because it seemed the only thing big enough to finally satisfy.
… does all this sound familiar yet?
Modernize the grammar and the word choice of that Walton quote a bit and attribute it to literally any given billionaire whose excentricities we are witnessing today, on a daily basis, and it would sound legit.
Because the thing is…. being rich, properly rich, doesn't make one happy and content. Excessive wealth rather seems to have the opposite effect, rotting the brain and inspiring in a person the greed and hunger of a Midas or an Erysichthon, eliminating pesky obstacles like human empathy or "realistic estimation of one's capabilities" on the way.
The former is especially apparent in how Victor tends to put his oh-so-horrible suffering above all others' in both severity and importance. "Oh, this lady feels bad because she will be innoccently executed? That's not half as bad as my guilt over letting it happen when I am the one actually responsible for the crime!"
I can't tell if the book itself knows (probably not), but Frankenstein is a fantastic argument in favour of wealth redistribution.

This exactly!
Like in my family alone the women from my grandma's generation:
My great-grandma? Held a job in the 1940s, when most women didn't work- and continued to do so throughout her marriage. Always recommended to other women in the family that we never be full housewives for our own security. The message has been passed down since her death. Also a fashion icon.
My grandma? Amazing ER nurse, saved lives on a daily basis. She also makes really impressive embroidery and quilting- it's really an art form but I don't think it gets appreciated as much because it's an 'old lady' thing.
My other grandma? Had an interracial marriage before Loving vs. Virginia, single mom for a little while there, divorced despite the societal taboo, supported her gay brother in a homophobic era, etc. She always remained a huge optimist who lived to the fullest and appreciated everything. She was also an extremely fun person to be around.
And the witches quote actually holds true in a pretty literal way for me, too. My great (a million greats) grandmother was actually killed for witchcraft in early America. She was hanged. They succeeded, but her descendents are still around.
I adore those women's history posts about Katherine Johnson or Joan of Arc, but I think it's important to acknowledge the really inspiring ordinary women that you know.
PS: I highly recommend looking at the other reblogs here, there's a lot of great stories.
Not trying to go on a rant (and yet already ranting) but I’m sick of people faking that “granddaughters of the witches you couldn’t burn” isn’t an AWESOME feminist catchphrase, and branding it as white feminism because “Karen your granny is a christian conservative” like yesss it’s true my granny is a christian conservative but she also secretly had her tubes tied in an illegal clinic because my grandpa was against birth control, and my great-grandma ran away from home at 15 because her parents were against interracial marriage, and my great-great-grandma fled her country because there were no job opportunities for poor women there, and my other grandma also fled her country because her boyfriend tried to force her to have an abortion and she wanted to have her baby, and my mom never married and chose to raise a child on her own, and I am a feminist butch lesbian, and this is what this quote is about, it’s not about your granny being pagan, it’s about valuing your matrilineal lineage of subversive women, even if their subversion was minimal, because they could have been killed or maimed any time by men for not conforming to gender roles even in the slightest way, after all, the witches who indeed were burned were more often than not also just regular, mostly christian conservative, women that somehow pissed off a man

I Am The Tree
If a tree falls in the woods and no one hears it, does it make a sound? Ah, the age old question. And the answer is, of course it does. And that got me thinking. If someone is not on social media, does that mean they do not exist? Again, of course they do. But that freaks people out. I have actually heard a group of women {and I’m sure that men would probably have the same conversation}, talk about a dude that one of them met, and he didn’t have any social media. The horrific things that they were saying about him…
I have written about it before. Not everything is for everybody. Some things we should keep for ourselves. And the fact that someone doesn’t use social media, can be a very healthy response to mental health. Just like not watching the news. We need to be careful of what we take in. Because it will definitely have an impact on us.
You know the saying that you will become like the 5 people you spend the most time with? You know why they say it? Because it is fucking true. Pick your people wisely. Surround yourself with people who not only inspire you, but call you on your bullshit in a loving way. We are the quality of our thoughts. And our thoughts are the quality of what we take in, and who we let in.
I admit that I am kind of a social media whore. That said, you would be hard pressed to find anything that I have posted that wasn’t inspirational, or at least mildly amusing. And my feed? Sometimes good people have bad days. But if you’re shit posting on a daily basis, you’re out. It’s not a judgement on you. It’s an affirmation for me. And I don’t want to be that guy that knowingly subjects himself to negativity.
So yes, the tree makes a sound even if no one hears it. Same as the person without any social media. And that sound in many cases is freedom. The freedom to create and shape their own reality, with little to no outside influence. Let me speak on that for a brief moment. I’m an educated man. I am extremely well read. With multiple degrees, some time back I made a conscious decision to get rid of all of my religious books and text. Despite having a degree in Divinity, and once served as a Chaplain, a hug or just sitting in silence was far more effective to the wounded person, than quoting words from a book.
I have a very public life. I have a huge following over social media. And, I am in the news several times a year. People think they know me. But in reality, they have no idea. Because many times I am the tree. And they will never hear the sounds that are reserved for my inner circle and God.

Edgy/misc OC ask meme - Verse Editon
Disclaimer: this post will contain only 2 of my verse characters since they are the only ones whose main campaigns/arcs have already met their conclusion
Liliana Gonzalez — from Bifrost
Do you have a specific lyric or quote which you associate with your OC?
This song specifically applies to Liliana in many ways despite not none of it literally.
As the youngest member of Bifrost, she was raised like a child soldier, a means to an end, pretty much sacrificing her own childhood and sense of a normal human development as well. By the end of the series, it is learned that her very existence was to serve a purpose in which she had no control over.
“It’s not an act of love if you make her,
You make me do,
Too much labour”
This one as well are more related to her freedom arc: Liliana’s rebelliousness towards the truth of her origin.
Her absolute refusal to become a piece in the game and her choice to live a life, not more passing through it
“I don’t wanna choose between
Being a salesman or a soldier
Just let me look a little older, let me step a little bolder.”
What's an AU that would be interesting to explore with your OC?
For Liliana, I think maybe Deadly Class since it was the major inspiration for her former plot. She would fit in the in the archetype of trained since childhood assassin whose family has ties with the government (similarly to her canon lore) and it’d be fun to explore her interactions with other teens in that scenario. But personally, for my original characters AU’s ideas can come so out of nowhere it’s hard to define exactly.
If you met your OC, would the two of you get along?
I think we would enjoy each other’s company but I don’t believe I’d be one of her best friends. Maybe colleagues? I feel she’d remember my birthday though.
In the end, If we had to interact with each other on a daily basis, it would be like some nods in the corridors and smiles during the day, like coworkers.
Does your OC have a faceclaim? If so, who?
Yes she does! It’s Jenna Ortega
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What is an alternative life path your OC might have gone down?
Although the thought of it makes me so so sad, I’d think it’d sooo interesting to explore the dynamic that would unravel if Irina Armstrong decided to keep and raise Liliana.
A childhood in that function would ultimately make her a lot more competitive and ruthless and even less in touch with her humanity. She’d be so invested in Irina’s projects and even consider herself a successor to them. However, I can see her acting as a mentor to the the younger ones and even developing a sibling relationship with them, with a twisted idea of care and love.
But that wouldn’t be Lili, it’d be Eve.
June Harris — from Black Mirror

Tan & Lovely[1] [2]
Tumblr media
I feel a bit uncomfortable about re-purposing a photograph of “Tan Mom”, especially when I read of her health struggles.  But if there’s a single image that can make the point of the world-wide obsession with altering our complexions, it’s probably any one of her well done, beef jerkey-esque head shots.  Not to judge.  I grew up in California in the 1980s.  Having a golden-brown tan was considered the embodiment of a healthy look.  I spent many a summer day out by the pool or at a nearby lake, getting as tan as I could, and rarely remembering (or caring to) apply sunscreen.  In middle age now, I have a number of friends that have been diagnosed with some form of skin cancer.  And even still, I feel better when my skin turns from pasty white to light tan after a few days in the sun.
It's not quite the same thing, you might say, as the author’s point of India’s deep rooted “color consciousness” and biases toward fair complexions.  Scholars, however, differed on when and how this desire for fairness turned into a prejudice against dark skin. According to the authors “Some historians believed that the roots of this prejudice could be traced back to the Aryan invasion of India from the north… Others believed that this form of racism was intertwined with the history of casteism and colonialism in India. Historically, the fair-skinned Kshatriyas (warriors) and Brahmins (priests) were thought superior to Vaisyas (agriculturalists, traders, and cattle rearers) and the Shudras (servers to the other three castes). ‘There’s this notion about dark-skinned people belonging to the labor class because they’d work on the fields under the sun. White skin, on the other hand, symbolized power,’ stated Devdutt Pattnaik, a scholar of Indian mythology. This existing discrimination was exacerbated during India’s colonization by the British, where the white Westerners ruled over the native Indians, lending an air of power and supremacy to fairer skin.  A more recent phenomenon, which was often quoted as perpetuating and intensifying this obsession, was the promotion of the Western-Caucasian ideal of tall, thin, and fair as a universal standard of beauty.”
So what do I know about all of this?  More than you might think.  I have spent much of the last several years living as an American ex-Patriot in Cambodia, and everything that we just read about India I witness on a daily basis in Cambodia.  I returned home to Phnom Penh for Christmas after spending a fall semester largely indoors in Boston.  I was pasty white and didn’t feel particularly energized or self-confident.  One of the first things my mother-in-law commented to me was how white and handsome I looked.  And after a few weeks of soaking up as much sun as I could on a lovely beach holiday to Koh Rong Island, she was quick to note, much less enthusiastically, how quick I was to get tan.  The views of people like my mother-in-law seem to pervade the Cambodian people.  Darker skinned individuals are associated with rural laborers and are perceived to be the less sophisticated, educated, and urbane portion of the population.  Just the opposite with those that manage to maintain their complexions in a lighter shade.
When I first moved to Cambodia, I experienced dry skin and found myself in need of moisturizing lotion.  Just about every lotion variety in every store I went to touted the whitening power of the lotion inside (and coincidentally most were sold in white bottles).  I didn’t want to whiten my skin…I just wanted to moisturize it.  Apparently, I was the only person in the country with this odd perspective.  This was reinforced when I later ran out of sunscreen and went to purchase more.  Every bottle of sunscreen advertised the dual purpose of sun protection plus whitening!
Tumblr media
To extract some data specific to India “India’s first fairness cream, Afghan Snow, was launched in 1919… Fair & Lovely, launched in 1975… The cream inspired other consumer goods companies to launch skin-lightening products in the 1990s…, many more international skin-care brands became available in India, and most included skin-lightening products within their portfolios…the size of the Indian facial-care market was expected to grow about $2 billion by 2019 … Fair & Lovely controlled 53.6% of the market share for the facial moisturizer sub-category”.
I don’t claim to be qualified to judge the relevance or sensibility of this obsession with fair skin.  Based on the early biases imprinted on my developing brain, I still think that tan skin suggests a healthy outdoor lifestyle.  I don’t feel my best when I’m pasty white; but that is probably a combination of science and psychology.  When I am Vitamin D deprived, I don’t feel my best and when I look in the mirror it becomes a self-reinforcing loop of perception and feeling.  Maybe “Tan Mom” felt the same thing, but that’s not what our authors are talking about.  That’s not what’s going on in India…or in Cambodia…or in any number of countries around the world where our perceptions of complexion and beauty are so ingrained in our upbringings that it’s hard to put a finger on exactly where or why the attitudes manifest.

🛼 🌻 🪐 🥐 🌵 for the ask game please!
Thank you so much for asking, these were so fun 💛
🛼 - describe your latest wip with five emojis
(I have a couple, so here's ANOTHER I'm really excited for 💛)
🕐☕️🚬📝🚙
🌻 - tag someone you appreciate but don't talk to on a daily basis
I feel like it's most people here sadly! I appreciate the community, and I admire a lot of people - inspired and motivated by them, encouraged by them. I just don't talk to most people! I have pretty awful anxiety that convinces me I'm just being annoying, or everyone hates me, so I don't reach out - I reblog and go unhinged that way, and Ive sort accepted that as my fate here haha. But I appreciate many, many people here I don't talk to daily, if at all 💛
🪐 - name three good things going on in your life right now
1. I'm writing whole ass movies - I wrote a whole ass movie. And maybe a book. Like my life is not at all where I thought I'd be at this age, or ever, and I'm really really proud of myself for taking the leap and excited for what's to come.
2. ^ I got feedback from two different contests and hearing about what real industry professionals had to say about my story, and my characters specifically, has been the most rewarding and motivating thing ever. I want to write and learn and keep going 💛
3. I've been doing a lot of house projects and I just finished re-doing a lot of things, but I think my favorite are the colors I'm switching my bedroom & bathroom to as well as my new vinyl set up 🥹 idk, my house is just feeling clean and inspiring and lovely lately.
🥐 - name one internet reference that will always make you laugh
Okay I have no idea...like a meme? What does this mean. I'm old?
I'm a sucker for vines. Quote an iconic vine at the opportune time and I am giggling no matter what. I also really love that video of the (Scottish I think? But I could be embarrassingly wrong, so correct me if I am) of the mom yelling at her kids about not flushing the toilet and saying "THAT IS DIS-GUST-ING." And my husband and I quote it daily 🤷‍♀️
🌵 - share the link to a playlist you love
Oh my gosh SO many to choose from. I think this is one of my favs. Can confirm I have bangs, I'm hot, and I listen to Kathryn Gallagher. I don't make the rules 🤷‍♀️

Bitter or Better?
Today's inspiration comes from:
The Unfair Advantage
by Aaron Burke
Editor’s note: In The Unfair Advantage, Pastor Aaron Burke takes a look at the unfair seasons Joseph endures in the book of Genesis and shows how his struggles are very much like we face today. Enjoy this excerpt.
"'How is your heart? This could be the most important question you answer today. The heart is actually referenced 633 times in the Old Testament and 170 times in the New Testament. God has a lot to say about its condition. The health of your heart determines the health of your life. So to get an accurate measurement of how healthy you are, take a deeper look at two areas. The first question to ask yourself is “How am I acting?” Proverbs 27:19 tells us,
As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.
The second question to ask yourself is “How am I speaking?” Jesus teaches in Matthew 12:34,
Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. — NKJV
Do you find your words laced with complaining, negativity, or criticism? This may indicate a problem with your heart.
Undergoing rejection will have a significant impact on your heart’s condition. You have a choice in the matter though. Use the rejection to get bitter or use it to get better. Rejection can be the poison that sinks us to bitterness, or it can be the fuel that drives us to greatness.
We all know people who have used their rejection experience poorly. Left in the frozen state of perpetual hurt, bitterness oozes out of them, creating discomfort and hurt for the people around them. Choose wisely how you want rejection to affect you.
Rejection happens to the best of us, but it doesn’t need to get the best of us. So how do we fight that innate bitterness that tries its hardest to creep in? Scripture tells us:
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. — Proverbs 4:23
What you allow into your heart when you are rejected will determine its condition. Unforgiveness is a toxin to the heart. Refusing to forgive is choosing to stay trapped in a jail cell of bitterness, serving time for someone else’s crime. I am not sure who originally said that, but it is very true. (And I’m not worried about stealing that quote because that person has to forgive me!)
In the midst of extreme suffering, while He was still at the peak of His torment on the cross, Jesus made the crucial decision to forgive. He didn’t wait until their murderous act was over but faced His betrayers and critics and, while they were inflicting pain, imparted forgiveness. He forgave before the offense had a chance to infect his heart. Despite His agony, He mustered His last bit of energy and cried out,
Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing. — Luke 23:34
Jesus has given us the perfect example to follow. Ephesians 4:32 instructs us to be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
We don’t deserve it, but Jesus forgave us. Now we have no choice but to forgive others in return.
Offense can be a festering wound to our hearts. No matter how we try to escape it, our world can be very offensive. People say things that hurt. People do things that hurt. People overpromise and underdeliver. People cut you off in traffic, renege on money they owe you, and disappoint your expectations. Hurtful things happen on a daily basis. However, it is possible that offensive things can happen to you without the offense living in you.
An offense is an event. Becoming offended is a choice. Joseph had a decision to make in the back of [the] caravan. In the famous words of Elsa from Frozen, Joseph had to “let it go.” Holding on to hurt is exhausting and detrimental to your heart. If you have noticed unhealthy patterns occurring as a result of rejection, let me encourage you to take the steps necessary to release the offense so you can move on.
The number one killer in America for the past decade has been heart disease. I believe the number one killer of your potential is spiritual heart disease. Don’t become a casualty.
Be intentional to guard your heart as well as purify your heart from the hurt caused by life. You can go through bitter situations without becoming a bitter person. In a moment of rejection, rather than taking it personally, choose to see people as Jesus did, who forgave the highest offense with the words “they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:24).
Jesus owns our brokenness and gives it intrinsic value.
LET GOD HEAL YOUR BROKENNESS
There is an old Japanese legend dating back five hundred years of a man who was a leader in the Japanese military, otherwise known as a shogun. Legend says that one day he broke his favorite teacup. Unwilling to accept it as lost, he determined to repair it to even better than before. He picked up every shard of the broken cup and painstakingly pieced it back together. For the final touch, he sealed the cracks with gold, making the cup more precious than it had been before. In other words, instead of getting bitter, he got better.
Whether or not the story is true, the art form is alive today in the Japanese practice of kintsugi. Take a moment to google some images. Just like in the legend, the kintsugi artist breaks an intact pottery object, allowing it to shatter into dozens of pieces. The artist then begins the work of placing all of the broken pieces back together. When the pieces are replaced, instead of glue or tape, they are sealed with gold. In doing this, the kintsugi artist gives broken pottery way more value than it had when it was still undamaged.
Here we see a powerful lesson of redemption. In the hands of the artist, the artifact goes from broken to beautiful. In short, “the Japanese art of kintsugi teaches that broken objects are not something to hide but to display with pride.”1 This is the gospel.
Jesus owns our brokenness and gives it intrinsic value.
Is your heart broken? Rejection can often do that. The only lasting solution is to give your pieces to the Master Artist. The prophet declared,
We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. — Isaiah 64:8
When we place our brokenness in His hand, He lovingly turns it into something beautiful. Our brokenness moves us from a mess to a message. Our hurt transforms into healing for other people. Our frustration changes into fuel for the future. None of this is possible in our own hands.
God is the only one who can change our hearts.
He promises,
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. — Ezekiel 36:26"'
Before you read on, allow Him to do some heart surgery and heal some of those broken places, so, like Joseph, you can move into “Egypt” better instead of bitter.
