Yooooooooo, I’ve finally finished queuing up Round 2… well, kind of.

It’s taken me all month to queue up Arthropoda and Chordata. Mollusca and Round 2.5 (the redemption round for Cnidaria, Platyhelminthes, Tardigrada, and Ctenophora) have yet to receive their captions, which takes a lot more time than you’d think.

So, on November 1st, we will start with Arthropoda, and instead of having polls every 12 hours, they will be every 24 hours. Probably at 8am USA Eastern Standard Time. This should give me enough time to get the captions for Mollusca and the rest finished, though I will likely need a short break in between. After which, I may go back to having polls every 12 hours. We’ll see how things go. 🙃

As a side note and shameless self-promo, I’m also gearing up for this year’s Archovember. That is also taking up a considerable chunk of my free time. Archovember is an annual paleoart drawing challenge that I’ve been hosting every November since 2019. It focuses on dinosaurs, pterosaurs, pseudosuchians, and other archosauromorphs, giving less popular or lesser known species a chance to shine and get drawn. Paleoartists from beginners to professionals have joined in the past, and even if you don’t draw along it’s also fun to just learn about a new prehistoric reptile every day! It’s usually not that big on Tumblr tbh (oddly enough) but gets a lot of traction on Instagram. You can check it out on my paleo account here on Tumblr @saritapaleo, or on Instagram under the same username (you’re also likely to see a lot more people participating on Instagram.)

Anyway, shameless self promo aside, this is also a heads up that my attention will be divided between these two events in November, and I’m likely to prioritize Archovember. 🫠 I’ll still be here to answer asks and share propaganda, but everything will be a little more automated and I might not be as quick to respond!

Oh and on that note, I’m very sorry if you’ve sent an ask and I haven’t answered it. I wanted to save asks and spread them out over time but apparently Tumblr is eating them. At this moment it is telling me I have 6 asks in my inbox, but when I click on it it says “no message found.” ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Advent Calendar 2023

During the holiday season, Christmas songs held a deep significance, not only for you and Bucky but for people all around the globe. Without iconic songs such as “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” “Mistletoe,” “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree,” “Feliz Navidad,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” and “Last Christmas,” the festive spirit would be boring and bleak, making the season dull and joyless.

You and Bucky refrained from listening to any songs before December 1st. But, the preparation for your annual Christmas playlist started weeks in advance. All the iconic songs made the list, as well as spicing it up with new releases.

On November 30th, a few minutes before midnight, you and Bucky found yourselves nestled on the sofa, each engrossed in a book. Your eyes occasionally darted to the clock, anticipation building for the stroke of midnight, signaling the start of the holiday month.

With your phone synced to the Bluetooth speakers, playlist queued up, and finger hovering over the play button, the moment arrived. The clock chimed midnight, and you pressed play.

The opening jingle of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” resonated throughout the living room, and, unable to resist, you started singing along, your voice blending with hers.

“Come on, Bucky! It’s time,” you urged, pointing at him to join.

“I don’t want a lot for Christmas.”

“There is just one thing I need.”

Bucky closed his book, meeting your gaze with a smile that spoke of his affection. As the song continued, he joined the serenade.

“Make my wish come true.”

“All I want for Christmas is you.”

Bucky cupped your face, pressing his lips to yours, firm and determined, sealing the song's sentiment with a kiss.

“It’s true, doll. All I want for Christmas is you. Only you.”

Cliche yet heartwarming, his words elicited a giggle from you as you exchanged kisses.

You and he danced and spun across the living room as the song continued, singing your hearts out to the classic tune. In between verses, Bucky took the opportunity to steal affectionate kisses and tender touches, adding a touch of passion to your laughter and joy, making the experience memorable.

Throughout December, Christmas songs became the soundtrack of your days. During car rides, you would sing your voices hoarse with upbeat Christmas tunes. In comparison, playful days had you and Bucky twirling and laughing to the classic songs in your living room.

Amidst the joyful chaos, your favorite times were the quiet evenings of Christmas ambiance, when the two of you engaged in a slow dance guided by the timeless melodies of Bucky’s beloved 1940s Christmas songs.

Bucky placed the cherished 40s classics onto the turntable. The classic holiday tune, “White Christmas” by Irving Berlin, began to play, casting a warm, sepia-toned ambiance across the living room. The aged melody conveyed nostalgia that enveloped the dimly lit space. As the needle delicately traced the record’s grooves, a soft hiss accompanied the music, adding to its charm.

“Dance with me, doll,” Bucky invited with a boyish smile. Pulling you into his arms, he planted a tender kiss on your forehead. You hummed in contentment as you placed a hand in his and the other on his shoulder. Bucky’s free hand found its place on the small of your back, drawing you into a gentle yet firm embrace.

“I would love nothing more,” you giggled, allowing him to lead.

Your bodies melded together seamlessly, like two pieces of a perfect puzzle. Your head found a comfortable spot on his chest, near his heart, while his chin rested atop your head, creating a cocoon of protection and closeness. The dance was slow and deliberate, synchronizing with the tempo of the music. His movements were smooth and practiced—a testimony to his bygone era.

Bucky’s focus extended beyond the dance itself; it lingered on you. Amidst the nostalgic atmosphere, he showered you with whispers of sweet nothings, tender kisses on your forehead, and soft touches on your back—deepening the dance and connection.

As you and he immerse yourselves in the music and each other, your thoughts wander to a younger Bucky—charismatic and a true ladies’ man in the 1940s. A hint of jealousy flickered as you envisioned him gracefully dancing and wooing women with his youthful charm. However, these moments were part of the tapestry of his life, contributing to the person he is today. So you embraced those memories with a bittersweet taste, understanding and cherishing them.

Meeting Bucky’s gaze, it’s as if he could read the currents of your thoughts. His smile radiates warmth, his eyes reflecting adoration—a silent reassurance and affirmation that your love is unique, different from anything that came before.

You continue to dance the night away, celebrating your journey and cherishing your shared and personal scars and stories. The ambiance of Christmas songs envelops your home, creating a backdrop for your celebration.

🪶October/November Housekeeping

Hello to my lovely flock!

First of all, I'd love to thank everyone for supporting me thus far. We're almost exactly 10 months out from the first post on this blog. It's my first time serializing a comic, and I've definitely learned a lot, and struggled a lot, too. No doubt I've been deeply unprofessional through much of it due to my inexperience. I'd really like to keep my supporters more in the loop about what I'm working on, so I've decided to write monthly housekeeping posts to update everyone about the roadmap of what I'm planning to do. This time I'm combining the October and November notes, since we're already so close to the end of October.

Updates on CHORUS serialization

At the time of writing, I've just posted the last page of ACT 2 for Ko-Fi supporters. There will be a weeklong break before ACT 3 starts serializing on November 5th, 2024. For our regular readers, ACT 2's final page will be posted on November 1st, and ACT 3 will begin on November 12th after a similar weeklong break.

Additionally, I've been quite sloppy about keeping links between posts updated, and I've concluded that it's because I can't link posts which are still in queue. Starting with ACT 3, I will continue to update the comic on Tuesdays and Fridays, but the timing will be "whenever I get a chance to update it during that day in my time zone", instead of queuing it for a specific time. This way, I can immediately update all links to the post. I will also be self-reblogging new pages more frequently.

Ko-Fi Membership Updates

I've been sporadically updating the Tenor tier with character design and other miscellaneous scans, but I've only worked through about half of my backlog. It takes a bit of time to edit and annotate the images, and I hope to get the rest of this batch uploaded before the end of November. Additionally, there's a rejected ACT 3 title page that I also plan on finishing and posting to the Tenor tier. However, considering my workload elsewhere (trying to finish the Christmas Kaishin bundle, zines, etc.), I find it unlikely to complete this before November. December is certainly a more conservative estimate.

Closing Notes

There are a great many other things that are floating around in my brain (switching from digital to traditional illustration in ACT 4, possible hiatus after ACT 4, new Soprano tier with merch rewards after hiatus), but these are all so far away it and up in the air that I feel it's more appropriate to announce those later down along the line, so I'll be calling this post here.

Once again, thank you all so much for the support, and I hope you'll stay with me on this journey.

Announcement!

This is the announcement I was talking about. Hope you find this as exciting as I do, although there are more fics I have yet to produce for this.

Since it's the end of November and hence Christmas is almost near, I will be giving a gift to you all: IZ Days of Christmas! This is a series and a challenge to myself also which features a story for each IZ*ONE member. That means I will be releasing a smut for an IZ*ONE member from December 1st to 12th, except for Jang Wonyoung and An Yujin, who will have fluffs written about them instead.

"IZ, that's still Advent season!" you might say. "Why not just follow the traditional 12 days of Christmas, the 25th to January 6th?"

Here's why: I feel like the Christmas spirit breaks by the time the twenty-fifth ends, so it wouldn't be as exciting. Besides the concern about originality, I also wanted the days I post the fics to match the numbers the members have by their age order. So you can say Christmas came early ;)

So far, I have completed 6/12 members. The fics are already queued and will be released based on their age order. So that means the IZ Days of Christmas Eunbi fic will be released tomorrow! :D

Right now, feel free to send in prompts and pics of Hitomi and Nako to get the writing juice flowing.

So, has anyone else been having this issue with their queued posts lately? This has been happening semi-regularly for a bit and I don’t understand why.

Also, when I did the most recent app update it now largely won’t let me re-schedule queued posts, telling me to do it on my computer instead. Which is weird & new; was that on purpose (why though?) or is it a bug that slipped through in the current update?

Anyway, while I’m here! 10/21/24

I’m still greatly enjoying Leverage and I liked seeing Richard Kind in the last The Librarians episode I saw. Recently I read The Con Job, which has a few hiccups mostly relating to being set in early 2010s geek culture, although there is a moment where Hardison acknowledges the amount of whiteness present. Interestingly, a notable part of the book’s premise is that Nate is giving Hardison opportunities to step up as the mastermind, with one at San Diego Comic-Con being perfect for that purpose, whereas I have gathered the actual shows make Parker the next leader. It’s unclear if the author wasn’t read in on that, was oblivious to that (whether due to preferring Hardison or due to sexism), or if there’s an aspect of Hardison wanting to be mastermind before shifting gears that’ll pop up in the later seasons that I haven’t seen yet. Cha0s appears and Wil Wheaton is mentioned, but the fourth wall is maintained. Overall, it was a decent read but not especially memorable. Up next is either The Librarians And The Mother Goose Chase or The Book of Earth. Which is the 1st book in The Dragon Quartet, not an ATLA novelization.

Speaking of Wheaton, I have reached some of his voice work on Star Trek Prodigy. It’s definitely interesting to see a grown Wesley being the caretaker of the timeline, what with his character’s origins as a partial (?) expy for Roddenberry on a Doylist level.

Last week I obtained Hallmark’s Sense & Sensibility as well as The Slipper & the Rose. Yes, I’ve been reblogging posts on the former without seeing it; in my defense, I ordered it as soon as I found out it had been released on DVD.

This is mostly why I’ve been ‘eh okay’ about the queue not letting itself be modified on the app. I want to take screenshots & make posts on these movies. That needs to happen on my laptop, not the app (unlike this one). Hopefully I’ll ease back into doing posts for tv shows. Like Star Trek DS9, for example.

There are probably going to be just one or two posts about “Replay” before I move onto Static Shock’s 1st season finale.

I’m still behind on TROP, but I do want to catch up so I can justify reblogging the great posts I’ve seen from later in the season. Hopefully one of the changes will be Tar Miriel surviving. She could end up like BBC Merlin’s Queen Guinevere, ruling alone at the end, given Elendil’s predetermined fate as the LOTR books are the canon used by the show. Huh, there’s a thought: will the final season end on Isildur’s death or will there be episodes showing what happened afterwards? Or will TROP also get cut short? I hope not, but the recent cancellations mean it’s definitely a risk. :/

Uh, I want to end on a happier note than that. Let’s see. I’m probably going to keep the current daily posts through November, but I’ll probably do BATB (1991 & 2022) posts in December again, replacing either The Librarians or TROP. Leverage & BBC Merlin’s Gwen/Queen Guinevere will likely switch over to being in the mornings for 2025. Star Trek DS9 might slow down or not, depending on if I resume my re-watch. This might change as I actually approach 2025, but this is my plan at the moment.

Awww thank you. Yesterday was mostly a test run but I will be back either next Monday or November 1st. Depends a bit on what the plans for the weekend will be and how much I can actually work on my queue in the next few days.

EDIT: I decided on next Monday because I only really work well under pressure (definitely something I need to address one day). I already queued a few posts, so I hope this will keep me going.

Interactive Fiction - Twine Resource Megalist

This Resource Megalist is intended to centralise the resources for the IF Tumblr community to create Interactive Fiction with Twine. While most will focus on the Twine formats, other useful resources will be included.

I don't know much about other Interactive Fiction programs or format aside from Twine. Even then, I tend to only use Sugarcube. Though this list may try to cover all Twine formats in its resources, my bias for the SugarCube format will be obvious.

I had made a small tutorial back on @interact-if a few months ago. Here is the very extended version. Also this is a very long post.

Obviously, you are not forced to do every single one of those actions below (it would be hypocritical of me to say so), but it helps show the authors their readerbase care about their works. Most action only takes a few seconds to a couple of minutes.

Let me know if I forgot something or made a mistake!

Note: while this is specific to IF authors, it can also be applied to other creators.

TLDR: Engage with stuff you like. Lurking might be nice and easy for you but can be detrimental to your fav author. Sharing is caring, y'all! Also, please don't keep the base avatar, it makes us think you are a bot. Don't behave like a bot.
