i was watching psych with mom and during one of the flashback scenes she was like “you know since this show is presented from shawns point of view and hes such an unreliable narrator, maybe all of these scenes are exaggerations? these could just be a misremembered caricature of his father because hes so much more mellow in the present day of the show” and i went on like. i gave a whole fucking presentation about how shawn is a liar but hes not a compulsive liar and he has no reason to lie to himself or to the viewers, he has an eidetic memory and his dad is still the kind of person to save an unfinished doghouse for decades just as an “i told you so” no matter how much more mellow you think he seems and so many of the characters are so over the top on their own anyways and she was like wow that was a really insightful and well thought out analysis and then 20 minutes later shawn made a joke about being into nurses and i actually paused the show to try and convert her to me and my siblings conspiracy theory that the other reason shawn spencer is Like That is because he watched a lot of mash and imprinted on hawkeye pierce at a very young age and i literally watched her expectations lower themselves back down to their earlier position in real time

called kirk a horse girl and mom was very confused by this and thought i was mixing him up with picard and so i spent the last 10 minutes of our drive home trying to explain why kirk is a horse girl despite having seen maybe 20 cumulative episodes of tos and one movie and almost nothing else with kirk in it and she was like very genuinely trying to understand what the hell i was trying to tell her and when we got home said “…im going to think on that” so if anyone has any ideas for how i can explain why kirk is a horse girl to my mom id love some assistance

so one thing about me that youd probably expect to come up in conversation a lot less is that i have to take vitamin c supplements and eat a ton of citrus and stuff because i have a vitamin c deficiency that just kind of popped up last summer and then never really went away and whenever i tell people this they tend to say “oh, like scurvy? i knew a guy in college who had scurvy!” and it came up today at lunch with my college friend and one of her old teachers and i thought “huh id never noticed but none of my college friends ever mention that they knew a guy with scurvy…” but like. i realized pretty quickly that, to potentially tens of people… i AM the guy they knew in college who had scurvy. so. thats fun.
#quetzposting#to be clear: i do not actually have scurvy i dont think my vitamin c deficiency has ever been that severe#but it actually does interfere with my quality of life sometimes. i couldnt brush my teeth for like five days this summer cuz i was bleeding#so much that i would get lightheaded which im pretty sure was entirely psychological but knowing that didnt really help all that much

in fact if you dont like people who hate x thing blacklisting those tags means you wont see and mindlessly reblog posts that are thinly veiled hatred of x thing that your friends who ARE x thing will see and recognize and you also wont see so many entry level talking points that are actually about how you should hate x thing without first being aware of the agenda of the person making the post. just food for thought!
