my dad has always told me to believe in god, using what seemed like nebulous evidence. example: there isnt a concrete reason as how or why the big bang happened at the moment, so how can i trust it. instead, i should ignore the field of astrophysics and believe that god created everything. (if i had more of a passion for STEM, id go into astrophysics to spite him.)

at the same time, when i tell him im trans, provide testimony from my sisters + friends + therapists + doctors at the gender clinic, provide online resources, offer support groups for parents of queer kids, and provide peer reviewed research and support for trans people existing and having existed and the benefits of transitioning both socially and medically, thats just opinion.

goes to show that no matter how much you try to get someone to think from a different perspective, they’re the ones that have to pull their head out of the sand.
